San Diego Marketing Campaign Essay
In the homework assignment last week, I took on the marketing campaign for a Mechanics shop
in San Diego area. The majority of these advertisement will be done on buses and locals
channels to reduce cost, since we are not nation wide in stores so we would just promote in areas
that would be the least out of pocket for the company. Locally we would also like customers to
advertise through mouth to mouth, that s the main way we should get customers. Express Tire is a
pride of the locals, we ve been around and throughout the San Diego County and as well as the
neighboring county all the way to Hemet. Working in and around San Diego in the morning most
people would listen to the radio, and the most channels they would listen to are 93.3, 94.1, 95.6 are

Most of the time we could used those as our main attack to get the word out there, and not good
deals put the brand image out there so customers would have an impression on our company as
an image that goes hand in hand with the image of San Diego county. Apple, Google, Adidas and
many others. Even advertisements related to a brand try to build a strong image of the brand to
get across the brand can be trusted and hence people can rely on them. A branded product that has
an encouraging reputation and image saves a consumer s time and energy. As the brand is an
established one, the clients are sure that, the products have already been tested and approved and
now the company will provide them the best possible service and merchandise. (Bhasin, 2016)
These are great examples of the brand image we want people to see and how they can get us or
retains our customers. Interview or statements of eloquence, is great to paraphrase as part of the
advertisement campaign. Further more during the promotional sales every quarter we have to put
the word out there more like in radio and local s TVs as

Research Paper:
The American Prairie A Known Wonder
By: Avani Pammidimukkala #20 and
Tanvi Prem #24
Due Date: May 26th, 2016
Introduction When people think of the American Prairie, they think of a dull, and grassy full
biome. But, the American Prairie is an extremely fascinating biome. At first glance, this grassy
biome may look really dull and boring, but if you look deeper into it and feel nature playing its
daily roles in this prairie around you, then you will see how unique this biome is.
Location
The American Prairie is usually located at mid latitudes, such as the middle of North America.
Covered with grasses and numerous wild flowers, this area of land is huge. On the American
prairie, trees grow that well, due to the lack of not too much rain. But, there are still some trees,
and if they are there, they are regularly scattered very far apart. The American Prairie is located
from the Great Plains to southern Texas and Mexico that forms an area that looks like a triangle.

Currently, this biome is experiencing a lot of human impact that affects the environment greatly.
The increased agricultural use of soil has created erosion, and its quality is going down. This is
causing the Bison and Pronghorn that live on the prairie to become almost extinct. The American
Prairie grassland is disappearing due to dividing up the land for farming and urban development.
Dividing up the land for farming is bad because the animals of the grasslands don t have any way
to move around. Prairie animals are also being endangered. When the prairie grassland is converted
into cropland, it reduces the food source for many wild animals. This can lead to migration or
possibly the starvation of the animals. Hundreds of animals have been hunted for valuable body
parts. Also, bison have been hunted for their meat. This caused animals to near extinction. Humans
have also done much more damage to this biome,

Infanticide Is The Killing Of An Infant
This paper discusses whether it is ever permissible to commit infanticide or not. Infanticide is the
killing of an infant or the practice of killing newborn infants. It is a difficult subject to discuss since
infanticide seems morally repugnant at first glimpse, though it becomes increasingly complicated
as we reflect on particular nuances in real world cases.
ROADMAP:
I argue that it is impermissible to commit infanticide under any circumstance since committing
murder of a person under any circumstance is wrong. Infanticide in simple words is the murder of a
newborn infant. There is no difference between killing a newborn and a fully grown adult. Both of
them can be defined as persons since they both possess a human essence that makes ... Show more

Hence, fully grown adults differ from infants due to the fact that they value life and have the
capacity to retain their memories and personal identity. They can engage in rational thought and
appreciate their existence. Infants aren t even capable of grasping their existence, leave alone any
memories. Hence, they shouldn t even be considered to be persons.
However, this objection isn t valid since eventually even infants will develop the capability to think,
retain memories and value life since abilities are developmental in nature. Also, if rationality and
self awareness define personhood and determine the moral significance of persons, then there are
many fully grown adults who can be disqualified as persons, for example an adult under coma.
According to this argument, since comatose patients are unconscious and can t rationally think at
the time, killing them would be permissible too.
ARGUMENT
I argue that infanticide is impermissible under any circumstance. I will support my stance by
arguing against Peter Singer s argument that supports the infanticide of disabled infants. In Taking
Life: Humans, Singer states that if we can morally kill a disabled fetus that has no self
consciousness, it follows that we can morally kill a disabled infant that has no self consciousness.
Take note that Singer argues in favor of committing infanticide of only disabled infants if it serves
the interests of the parents. He does not argue that it is right to

Nucor Corporation: Competing against Low Cost Steel imports deals with leading steel
manufacturer Nucor Corporation and trends in the steel industry affecting Nucor. Steel
manufacturing is an old business, but is currently facing the fast changes associated with new
technologies, the rise of globalization, and changes in cost and efficiency. To date, Nucor has

The increased level of empowerment allows each division manger control over day to day
decisions that will increase profitability. This key success factor contributes to mitigating threats
related to price and cost including the cyclical nature of industry, raw material cost, and low cost
competitors.
Strong Employee Relations Nucor s employee relations practices were a key factor in their
successful growth through the ability to produce steel at margins that could compete with imports.
Perhaps Nucor s most important key factor of success, the building of successful employee relations
is more difficult to imitate by competitors than tangible business factors.
Use of Disruptive Technology Nucor has an extremely a strong technological focus. Their
introduction of the mini mill has proven to be industry changing with the manufacture of raw sheet
for the auto industry. Additionally Nucor introduced the first electric arc furnace, continuous
casting, the process to avoid reheating billits, and the twin shell furnace. The value added by Nucor
technology in mitigating threats is proven by a high sales volume and steady profits.
Strong leadership While Nucor did have a decentralized management structure, it relied heavily on
the aligned visions of managers under the charismatic leadership of Ken Iverson. The company

Analyzing The Poem This Lime-Tree Bower My Prison
Many poets commonly use imagery as a primary literary device in their poems to convey important
themes with objects, symbols, and motifs throughout the piece; the author of This Lime tree Bower
my Prison is no exception. Throughout the poem, figurative language is present in the form of
descriptions and relationships to nature. The imagery of nature describing the progression in the
speaker s attitude reflects the transitioning between stages of thinking changing of reliance and
thoughts on nature as a higher being to a reliance on the self and individual thought. The things
found in nature, from flowers to sunsets, are used to describe the movement of the poem and the
changes in the speaker s attitude throughout. Nature is a pivotal point... Show more content on

Essay Monotheism vs. Polytheism
Monotheism and polytheism are two very different belief systems. Monotheism is the belief in one
god and polytheism is the belief in more one than one god. The concept of morality can and does
exist within cultures that have only one god, as well as cultures that have multiple gods. Without
morality, the world would be a place of extreme chaos and pandemonium. However, the foundation
for morality within polytheistic religions is quite contradictory to the foundation for morality with
monotheistic religions. Morality within polytheismis somewhat inconsistent and relative; whereas in
monotheism, morality becomes more consistent and absolute. Morality exists throughout all
cultures and religions of the world in some shape or form. In... Show more content on

However, the foundations for morality in polytheism and monotheism are quite different.
In polytheism the foundation for morality seems inconsistent and relative. Polytheistic religions
have no ultimate reality or god to set a standard for morality that all the followers must obey.
Instead, each of the many gods could have their own set of standards for morality. The
inconsistency of morality could theoretically lead one to be faced with the dilemma of which
god is correct. Let s suppose one is having an extramarital affair and is not sure if she should
continue the affair or stop. Should she pray to the goddess of lust and passion, to the god that is
all knowing or to the god of family and relationship? Not only does the inconsistency of morality
standards cause followers to be faced with choosing which gods to embrace, but also cause them
to be faced which god is appropriate to pray for moral guidance on different subjects. The notion
that each of the multiple gods can set their standards for morality, allows for the follower to
circumstantially pick and choose which god to follow. It is possible for a follower to be
circumstantially selective because they do not have to answer to one specific god. One can
choose to follow a certain god because that particular god s set of morals allows them to fulfill
some desire or need that would otherwise not fulfilled under other

The Use Of Ester Interchange Reactions During The...
PRODUCTION OF PET
We utilize the rapidity of ester interchange reactions during the production process. The acid
(terephthalic acid) is converted to the dimethyl ester, which is further purified by distillation or
crystallization. This is then allowed to react with the glycol by ester interchange. The reaction
generally is a two step reaction a. First, low MW polyester is made with excess of glycol to ensure
that the hydroxyl end groups are formed and then the temperature is raised and pressure is
decreased to facilitate condensation of these molecules by ester interchange simultaneously with the
loss of glycol. [7]
PET resins can be produced in two ways commercially. These two ways are by using one among
dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) or terephthalic acid (TPA) with Ethylene Glycol(EG). These
processes are generally known as the DMT Process and the TPA process. The intermediate bis (2
hydroxyethyl) terephthalate monomer (BHET) is produced in both these processes. This is
accompanied by methanol when using DMT and water when using TPA. The BHET intermediate
formed is polymerized with heat and catalyst to produce PET resins. The older route is the DMT
process. [8]
Process using DMT [9]
It is a two step process. The ratio of DMT to EG is generally 2:1. There is the possibility of using
either batch operation or continuous operations to produce PET using DMT. Some basic
differences between the batch operation and continuous operations:
In the continuous process the

Unit 1 Parachute Investigation
Stage 1 Physics investigation Parachute Investigation
The purpose of this assignment is to work out a parachute design and investigate parachute s drop
time. Parachutes are designed to fall slowly so that the person can land safely to the ground, as
shown in figure 1. Parachutes are big, but not heavy and have a larger surface area for air resistance
like traps the air from escaping out of it. This is because the air pushes the parachute back up, but
the force of gravity pulls the parachute to the earth.
Figure 1 In figure 1, the force of the gravity is pulling the person and the parachute towards the
ground because gravitational force makes the object fall quickly. However, the parachute slows
the person down because it causes air resistance as it pushes the parachute back up and creates an
opposite gravitational force. The forces push or a pull are called action and reaction forces, the
subject of newton s third law. During this investigation, the push force is the air resistance and
opposite (pull) force is the gravity.
It is predicted that four sided parachute will take more time to reach the ground because the larger
the surface area, more air particles hit/collide with the parachute, as shown in diagram 2.
Nevertheless, the smaller the surface area of the parachute, fewer air particles collide and the ...

This means that parachute took 8.08 seconds longer than the eraser s drop time without the
parachute. This means that weight and the size affect the parachute s drop time because weight
causes the whole parachute to accelerate as it gains speed and encounters an increasing amount
of opposing upward air resistance force. For example; the first parachute we made was really big
and had more surface area, but it did not work due to less air resistance. However, the second
parachute worked well, but it did not fell straight

Decolonisation can be defined as a process which always was and will continue to be a violent
process. This is due to the fact that one man will be replacing another using the same force that
was used to colonise them (Fanon, 2001). Decolonisation can be described as being a process of
complete disorder as it is when two or more conflicting forces meet one another. These opposing
forces will have their own beliefs as well as different ways of doing certain tasks (Fanon, 2001).
The movement of Rhodes Must Fall is exactly that. During the movement, violence is seen when
human excrement is thrown at the statue of Cecil John Rhodes. Another representation of
violence is the sudden outbreak of one of the leaders and the vandalism that was present.
Although Fanon states that violence will always be a part of the decolonisation process, I do not
believe that we should associate and include violence when standing up for what we believe in, as
this may infringe on peoples human rights if one does not feel safe in a certain situation where
violence is a prominent

The human creative process, field and lab observations, and experiments help geoscientists

The assembly and subsequent break up of Pangaea represent a striking example of the effects of
plate tectonics acting over geologic time. The story begins with the breakup of the ancient
supercontinent of Rodinia 750 million years ago. Plate tectonic processes dispersed the fragments
of Rodinia forming a system of ancient continents that existed from the late Proterozoic through
much of the Paleozoic. Continued tectonic movement eventually resulted in a set of continental
collisions and reformation of the ancient continents into Pangaea. Assembly was completed during
the early Triasic, about
240 million years ago. Then, about 200 million years ago the rift that would evolve into the
Atlantic Ridge began to open and the separation of Pangaea was underway. By the beginning of
the Cenezoic, India was well on its way to Asia, and the Tethys sea that had separated Africa from
Eurasia began to close into the modern inland sea that we know as the Mediterranean. Continued

In Sylvia Plath s free verse poem, Daddy, she describes her hatred towards her deceased father.
Plath uses tone, figures of speech, and symbols to illustrate her extreme anger and female protest
towards the man that raised her. Sylvia Plath has a dark, bitter tone in Daddy. She recalls all the
pain that her father has put her through, even after his death. The hatred in her tone deepens
throughout the poem. She starts by explaining that when she was twenty [she] tried to die/And get

saying that Every woman adores a Fascist, / The boot in the face, the brute/ Brute heart of a brute

2.3. Threats to business success
People from Argentina are commonly known as very individualistic people. Argentinian culture is
largely influenced by European countries. Around 85% of Argentinian people have European
origin. Often Argentinians are seen as very patriotic people, and they are very proud of their
country. It is common to hear that some Argentinians have racist behavior toward foreigners in
some occasions. We consider this to be a threat for us and for our business. People in Argentina
tend to utilize local products and services and there is a big chance that they will not be happy to
deal with foreign competition. Despite recent economic growth and some improvement in poverty
and unemployment indices, segments of Argentina s population continue to suffer from social
exclusion and an inability to fully enjoy their economic, social and cultural rights. Even today,
Argentina remains a country very much divided by poverty and racial

Abstract
This paper examines the effects that cannabis abuse has on human health over an extended period.
Over the years, some researchers have concluded that continuous use of the drug during
adolescence, but not adulthood, could permanently impair cognition and increase the risk for
psychiatric diseases. Other studies suggest that heavy use amongst users can cause changes in
subjective mental status, brain functioning, and neuropsychological performance. Approximately
9% of those who experiment with cannabis will become addicted, and the treatment for addiction
can be challenging, as it often leads to withdrawal symptoms. Consequently, most governments
around the globe decided to enact legislation in the early to mid 20th century, to help control its
abuse; however, recently, some countries in the Western World have begun to allow its use for
medicinal and recreational purposes. All information for the writing of this paper has been

they must know exactly what is expected of them. This calls for qualitystandards. In many cases,
the supervisor is responsible for setting quality standards as well as for communicating and

Examples Of Pessimism In Arcadia
Arcadia by Tom Stoppard is not a pessimistic play because there is no overall loss that the
characters face at the end. Edwards says that all is soon lost, irrecoverable, irredeemable and this
notion/idea does not support the play because hope can be seen at the end of the play. Tragedy is
loss overtime and uncompensated suffering; and this is not seen in the play. Although there are
instances of pessimism and cynicism throughout the play (like how Thomasina dies young), the
story is rather optimistic in it s ending. Hannah is a character that is constantly mentioning the
benefits of learning and advancing society through research and science. Thomasina s research
will go down in history and help science evolve. Paul Edwards is not correct when he talks about
Arcadia as a pessimistic play because it is quite the opposite; Arcadia is a play about hope.... Show

the play, she grows to realize that they are both one and the same. Her character development is
drastic and it is the opposite of a pessimistic value. Hannah s character reflects the idea that
knowledge is something that transcends time and this motif can be seen in the play. Edwards says

Decay And Its Effects On The Global Amount Of Carbon Decay
Decay All living things must decay to balance the global amount of carbon. Decay can take
many years to be completed. Some decay more rapidly than others. For instance, Robinia
Pseudoacacia, or Black Locust, has a slower decay rate than coniferous. These both also differ
from the decay of human bodies. There are also some less substantial things that can decay as well,
but are not needed for balance. All softwoods come from coniferous trees. They grow faster than
hardwoodtrees, and are easier to manufacture. This is because the trees grow fairly tall and straight
which makes it easier to cut long, straight planks. Because of the easy manufacturing, this type of
woodcomes very cheap. Most softwoodis used for indoor furniture, or decoration. Some types of
softwood trees are: pine, spruce, cedar, and redwood. These trees decay faster for the same
reason they are easily manufactured. Manufacturers put several layers of paint on some of the
trees. This is one factor that contributes in preventing decay. All it does though, is keep out the
fungus that causes decay (mr dt.com). The only agent of wood decay are fungi. Wood does
deteriorate from insects, UV rays, and marine animals, but this is not actually decay. There are
three types of decay; white, brown, and soft. You can tell the difference between them by looking
at the color of the wood as it decays. White looks bleached, brown is of course a brown color, but
soft can be either. In white rot the whitish color comes from

Theu.s. Housing And Urban Development Essay
The failure of the United States government to sufficiently care for their men and women in the
military can be seen in the number of homeless veterans. In fact, the U.S. Housing and Urban
development (H.U.D.) reports there are over 39,000 members of the armed services living on the
street (2016). The main causes of homelessnessamong veterans include lack of housing, jobs, and
access to healthcare (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, n.d.). Veterans run a higher risk of
becoming homeless if they are: suffering from a mental illness or substance abuse problem; do not
have a support system; or have a disability (Ainslie Cooper, 2016).
Nature and Scope A homeless veteran homelessness is defined as a U.S. service members, with an
honorable discharge, who is unable to find and/or sustain reliable housing (Ainslie Cooper, 2016).
Many service men and women leave their military life to find it difficult to assimilate back into
civilian life which can result in homelessness. First, the occupations they held as soldiers do not

men and women who have served our country suffer from PTSD and/or other mental health

Transvestitism Essay
Transvestitism
In the last few decades, there has been a rapid change in social attitude towards so called sexual
problems. There has been a call for the freedom to live in the style of which one chooses, so long
as no one else is harmed in the process. One area that appears little understood, however, is
transvestitism, or cross dressing. In order to gain some knowledge about this phenomenon, there are
many aspects of transvestitism that should be examined, some being: history, societal views, the
gay versus straight issue, and women dressing as men.
Transvestitism has a long history, ranging from mythical figures to medieval saints who cross
dressed; from the many instances of berdache in anthropological literature to historical ... Show

Why, then are most cross dressers secretive about their affection for this? According to Dr. Peggy
Rudd (1995), most are secretive, because they have many fears related to the consequences of
having their big secret discovered. In general, non participants do not consider transvestitism,
socially acceptable. Many cross dressers fear the detrimental effects upon other family members,
and many are concerned about the possibility of losing their job as a result of coming out.
Some cross dressers feel guilty because society has placed them into stereotypes, including the
incorrect assumption that all cross dressers are gay, or that all transvestites are potential
transsexuals. To the contrary, while some are gay, most cross dressers want to share their life with
a woman, and the number of gay males is far less among crossdressers than among the general
population (Rudd, 1995). Most identify primarily as a male who has, and retains, male gender
identity. Often they are married, and the father of children. (Prince, 1971) This in itself presents
the question of whether or not to tell spouses, and/or, their children about this. Many do not, out
of fear of being seen as deviant, and perhaps losing those most dear to them. It is a natural thing
for cross dressers to want to share all of themselves with those they love, but as there is risk of
rejection, many choose to wait until they feel comfortable that the risk has lessened, or keep it a
secret forever.

Weimar Republic Failure
There are many historians that believe the Weimar Republic was doomed from the beginning of its
existence as a rump state of the once powerful German Empire. Other historians believe the
republic is not such a failure as it seems in textbooks and online articles. Both sides unanimously
agree that the Weimar Republicwas a failed attempt at bringing democracy to a predominantly
monarchical (and tyrannical) Europe. The majority of historians that agree the ill fated Weimar
Republic was a smudge on Germanyduring the Interwar Period have a large amount of validities
to support that claim. However, these validities also apply to the latter (to a lesser extent) , with
one major problem resolved by the republic. One of the claims is that the Weimar Republic was
simply too weak to establish itself as a political power in Germany, being contested by left and
right wing extremist groups. There were often frequent rebellions in Germany, led by Communists
and Marxists. The military at the time was far too outnumbered to quell these rebellions in their
own jurisdiction. Another major impediment was the hyperinflation of the currency of that time,
the German Mark. After the Great War, Germany was in a state of utter devastation and rebellion.
The Kaiser had just fled Germany, and she was now without a leader, essentially cutting head off
the snake. The military had also returned in a similar shape. The German economy was in ruins.

However, the outcome was not what they had expected. Quaker had lost the Snapple image by
getting rid of the Snapple personalities. Thus sales started to decline.
After 3 years, Quaker sold Snapple to Triarc. Mike Weinstein, CEO of Triarc Beverage Group,
wanted to develop a strategy that would revitalize the real, natural, and quirky image of Snapple.
And recreate the connection that Snapple had with its consumers.
Analysis
As Weinstein and Ken Gilbert assessed Snapple s situation, through market research study, it was
clear that the decline of the brand started the year it was sold to Quaker Oats. Evidence showed that
Quaker had created a mainstream brand out of Snapple, which went against the principles of the
brand and what consumers knew the brand to be.

As the founders developed their brand, Snapple became part of the Alternative beverage industry,
which consisted of sports drinks, bottled water, 100% juice, non premium beverages and premium
beverages. Snapple was the leading company in the premium category of the Alternative beverage
industry. Therefore, they could price their most successful products at a premium.

accounted for about 80% of sales, consisting of food vendors, restaurants, recreational areas and

The Price Elasticity Of Demand
Price elasticity of demand is defined as a measure of the responsiveness or sensitivity of
consumers to changes in the price of a good or service (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 199).
Mathematically, the price elasticity of demand is calculated by dividing the percentage change in
quantity demanded by the percentage change in price. Demand is said to be elastic whenever the
absolute value of the percentage change in quantity demanded exceeds the percentage change in
price, which means the absolute value of the elasticitywould be greater than one. If the absolute
value of the price elasticity of demandis less than one, the demand is said to be inelastic, or less
sensitive to the price change. There are various factors that affect the price elasticity of products, in
the following sections these factors will be applied to the demand of desktop computers.
The first factor which is the most important determinant of price elasticity of demand is the
availability of substitutes (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 205). For any product where quality
substitutes are readily available, the price elasticity of demand will be high. For example, if the
price of desktop computers was to rise by 20%, the quantity of desktop computers demanded
would most likely decrease by a greater percentage. This is because consumers could easily go out
and purchase laptop computer or tablets to accomplish tasks for which they needed the desktop
computer. Likewise, if the price of desktop computer

The Ramayana Of Valmiki And Sita Sings The Blues
The Ramayana of Valmiki and Sita Sings the Blues
The epic story of Rama and Sita, as portrayed by Valmiki s Ramayana and the modern day film
Sita sings the Blues are two different versions of the same story which contain several contrasts as
well as similarities. The Ramayana is the ancient version which was written by a sage named
Valmiki in 550 B.C.E, featuring a love story between an ideal prince and an ideal woman. It
outlines the adventures of Rama in his journey to find his abducted wife Sita. Rama is portrayed as
an avatar, being the eighth incarnation of one of the Hindu gods Vishnu, while Sita is representing
Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of light. The modern day version of the Ramayana is seen in Sita
Sings the Blues, where the animator Nina Paley is relating her love story to that of Sita s
predicament. This paper will compare and contrast the epic story of Valmiki s Ramayana and Sita
Sings the Blues in the quest for power, honor, faithfulness and the conflict between good and evil.
The author Valmiki in Ramayana discussed in detail human relationships, such as those between
husband and wife, parents and children, siblings, rulers, and the ruled as shown in the story. It is
often referred to as a holy text as well as a guide to social practices and attitudes. Nina, the

The airline industry is the most unionized industry, therefore the labor cost in unionized airlines is
about 35% of the unit cost in North America and it is also the highest cost component of airline

pilots who has the specific training and experience at the airline. Therefore when the union strike it
is very difficult for the company to just find other pilots and continue its operations, giving the

However if the current conditions in the industry are less favorable for the employees, will the
union accept a renegotiation of the contract to decrease the salaries? I don t think they will accept
any change to the contract before the stipulated date. In my opinion this is the main reason why
companies are disappearing and many people are unemployed, because in rare occasions unions are

After employees saw how American Airline ranked sixth on competitive salaries compared with

Design Of Low Pass Fir Filter
DESIGN OF LOW PASS FIR FILTER THROUGH
PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION
Abstract: In the common case, the impulse response is finite because there is no feedback in the
FIR. A lack of feedback guarantees that the impulse response will be finite. Therefore, the term
finite impulse response is nearly synonymous with no feedback . However, if feedback is
employed yet the impulse response is finite, the filter still is a FIR. In this paper FIR filter design
through particle swarm optimization.
Key words: FIR filter, particle swarm optimization

It is developed from swarm intelligence and is inspired by social behaviour of bird flocking or
fish schooling. PSO is an optimization algorithm with implicit parallelism which can be easily
handled with the non differential objective functions. PSO algorithm uses a number of particle
vectors moving around in the solution space searching for the optimist solution. Every particle in
the algorithm acts as a point in the N dimensional space. Each particle keeps the information in
the solution space for each iteration and the best solution is calculated that has obtained by that
particle is called personal best (pbest). This solution is obtained according to the personal
experiences of each particle vector. Another best value that is tracked by the PSO is in the
neighborhood of that particle and this value is called (gbest) Figure 1 PSO flow chart.

An RLC circuit (the letters R, L and C can be in other orders) is an electrical circuit consisting of
a resistor, an inductor, and a capacitor, connected in series or in parallel. The RLC part of the
name is due to those letters being the usual electrical symbols for resistance, inductance and
capacitance respectively. The circuit forms a harmonic oscillator for current and will resonate in a
similar way as an LC circuit will. The main difference that the presence of the resistor makes is that
any oscillation induced in the

Elrick J. Gallow Case Summary
ELRICK J. GALLOW, petitioner v. LYNN COOPER, warden On petition for a writ of certiorari
to the United States court of appeals for the fifth circuit Petitioner Elrick Gallow alleged that he
obtained ineffective legal assistance for both at his criminal trial and during his first state post
conviction proceeding. Gallow s trial council admitted before the State s Disciplinary Board in a
testimony and affidavit that he was related to the victim; he also admitted that because he was
suffering from panic attacks he was unable to cross examine the victim and was why he advised
him to plead guilty. He also failed to notify both the state and Gallow that he had evidence that

Mademoiselle Reisz In The Awakening
The Character of Mademoiselle Reisz in The Awakening nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; She was a
disagreeable little woman, no longer young, who had quarreled with almost everyone, owing to
a temper which was self assertive and a disposition to trample upon the rights of others. (25) This
is how Kate Chopin introduces the character of Mademoiselle Reisz into her novel, The
Awakening. A character who, because of the similarities she shares with Madame Pontellier,
could represent the path Madame Pontellier s life may have taken, had she survived old age.
Mademoiselle Reisz is first introduced at a party when she plays the piano for Edna Pontellier.
Edna is described as being very fond of music. (25) Music is described as having a way of evoking

Another similarity between the two women is in regard to their taste in men. At one point in
the novel, Mademoiselle Reisz mentions that If I were young and in love with a man it seems
to me he would have to be some grand esprit; it seems to me if I were young and in love I should
never deem a man of ordinary caliber worthy of my devotion. (81) This definition of
Mademoiselle s ideal love almost perfectly matches that of Edna s. For Edna was searching for
the same qualities within Robert; a change, something that goes astray from the ordinary. Mr.
Pontellier, her husband, was simply that, ordinary, which she did not want. A third parallel seen
through the relationship between Mademoiselle Reisz and Madame Pontellier is their aversion
to the water. Although Edna sees the sea as whispering, clamoring, murmuring (and ) inviting,
(13) toward the beginning of the novel, she is hesitant to completely submerge herself in it. This
can be logically explained in that she cannot swim. However, she continues to walk along the
shore and place her feet in the tide, but other than that, before she learns to swim, that is the
extent of her bathing experience. Mademoiselle Reisz is also described to have some sort of
physical aversion to the sea as well. This can be seen when she blatantly refuses to follow Edna to
the water claiming that she hasn t been in the surf all summer, and that to bathe in it at the end of
the season would be pointless. (48) Another key

High School Dropouts In The United States
Many policy makers in the United States have becomes especially concerned about the alarming
rate of persistently high school student s dropout rates. But, improving high school dropout and
graduation levels continues to be a strong educational challenge in the United States. Because,
every year almost half a million students drop out of school(U.S. Census Bureau 2007). More
importantly as Rumberger claimed that an even greater number about one third of all students who
enter high schoolin the ninth grade fail to graduate fours later (as cited in Robert Russell 109).
Graduation rates among underrepresented minority students in particular Latinos and African
American are even lower (Alliance for Excellent Education2007). And as Kelly

Technology Has Changed Our Lives Today
It s hard to imagine living our day to day lives without music. It is everywhere, and it has
changed in more ways than one over the last ten, twenty years. More accurately, the way we
listen and enjoy to it has changed, thanks to technology s massive influence on the way that we
live our lives today. With most things there s both the good and the bad, and this situation is no
different. But I believe that technology is causing so much more chaos than calm for the
modern music and entertainment industry. Music has become so easy to access and listen to,
thanks to advances in technology. We now have the ability to listen to music, on demand, at any
time, and anywhere we go. It s in our pockets, on our iPods, on our phones, tablets and laptops.
We can listen to music on free to air on television and radio. We can pull out a device, press play,
and have music right there at our fingertips. Although this appears to be positive for the
consumer, meaning that there is more music available for them to enjoy with increased
accessibility, the effect on record labels and artists is somewhat negative. Gone are the days
where you would save up your money to purchase the $20 CD from the record store, just to get
that one song you loved. There are still people who will purchase vinyl records and CDs for the
purpose of having a collection, but as a whole, consumers aren t purchasing and stockpiling music
like they once used to. This is because the way that we buy, access and listen to

7 The Black Cat

Religious Pluralism
I have learned that Destiny Worship Center recognizes pluralism and has a great number of
people and families that have different social classes, races, tradition, and interests. Even though
people have differences in these areas, the church as a whole believes that everyone should work
together as one. Pluralism was shown in the volunteer work for Hurricane Irma as every one of
different social classes, backgrounds and traditions worked together as one to put into one good
cause. There are several immigrants or people with green cards in the church that are welcome. I
also learned that the church offers classes for those who may have a different religion or culture.

America s Juvenile Justice System Essay
The Juvenile Justice system, since its conception over a century ago, has been one at conflict with
itself. Originally conceived as a fatherly entity intervening into the lives of the troubled urban
youths, it has since been transformed into a rigid and adversarial arena restrained by the demands
of personal liberty and due process. The nature of a juvenile s experience within the juvenile justice
systemhas come almost full circlefrom being treated as an adult, then as an unaccountable child,
now almost as an adult once more.
Studies and anecdotes have shown that our modern approach, however, is ill equipped to reduce
crime or deal with chronic delinquents while at the same time protecting their due liberties. We now

Colonists placed their children either in the homes of others or, as technology enabled the industrial
revolution, in factories and other locations of modern industry near the home. Writes Feld, ?The
coterminous location of home and workplace and the limited range of occupations enabled young
people to learn most of their required economic skills either from their parents or from surrounding
adults and quickly to achieve adult productivity,? (21). More importantly, children from a relatively
young age were expected to assume adult culpability for crimes they committed. Punishments for
children rivaled those for adults.
As time marched on, childhood became a socially constructed stage of life. Coupled with a rise
in the traditional family view of domesticity (men at work, women isolated as homemakers), new
concepts of child rearing took hold in the middle and upper classes. Instead of exposing children
to the world, ?Deferral of adult responsibilities rather than assumption of adult roles became the
child rearing norm,? writes Feld (30). The ?child saving? movement worked to segregate children
from society both directly and indirectly. These protective measures were based chiefly on middle
class, protestant, white, rural idealists who viewed childhood as a stage of moral immaturity and
impressionability. ?Progressive reformers implemented a variety of child saving strategies

The majority of these advertisement will be done on buses and locals channels to reduce cost, since we are not nation wide in stores so we would just promote in areas that would be the least out of pocket for the company. Locally we would also like customers to advertise through mouth to mouth, that s the main way we should get customers. Express Tire is a pride of the locals, we ve been around and throughout the San Diego County and as well as the neighboring county all the way to Hemet. • 3. American Prairie Research Paper Research Paper: The American Prairie A Known Wonder By: Avani Pammidimukkala #20 and Tanvi Prem #24 Due Date: May 26th, 2016 Introduction When people think of the American Prairie, they think of a dull, and grassy full biome. But, the American Prairie is an extremely fascinating biome. At first glance, this grassy biome may look really dull and boring, but if you look deeper into it and feel nature playing its daily roles in this prairie around you, then you will see how unique this biome is. Location The American Prairie is usually located at mid latitudes, such as the middle of North America. Covered with grasses and numerous wild flowers, this area of land is huge. On the American prairie, trees grow that well, due to the lack of not too much rain. But, there are still some trees, and if they are there, they are regularly scattered very far apart. The American Prairie is located from the Great Plains to southern Texas and Mexico that forms an area that looks like a triangle. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently, this biome is experiencing a lot of human impact that affects the environment greatly. The increased agricultural use of soil has created erosion, and its quality is going down. This is causing the Bison and Pronghorn that live on the prairie to become almost extinct. The American Prairie grassland is disappearing due to dividing up the land for farming and urban development. Dividing up the land for farming is bad because the animals of the grasslands don t have any way to move around. Prairie animals are also being endangered. When the prairie grassland is converted into cropland, it reduces the food source for many wild animals. This can lead to migration or possibly the starvation of the animals. Hundreds of animals have been hunted for valuable body parts. Also, bison have been hunted for their meat. This caused animals to near extinction. Humans have also done much more damage to this biome, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Infanticide Is The Killing Of An Infant This paper discusses whether it is ever permissible to commit infanticide or not. Infanticide is the killing of an infant or the practice of killing newborn infants. It is a difficult subject to discuss since infanticide seems morally repugnant at first glimpse, though it becomes increasingly complicated as we reflect on particular nuances in real world cases. ROADMAP: I argue that it is impermissible to commit infanticide under any circumstance since committing murder of a person under any circumstance is wrong. Infanticide in simple words is the murder of a newborn infant. There is no difference between killing a newborn and a fully grown adult. Both of them can be defined as persons since they both possess a human essence that makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, fully grown adults differ from infants due to the fact that they value life and have the capacity to retain their memories and personal identity. They can engage in rational thought and appreciate their existence. Infants aren t even capable of grasping their existence, leave alone any memories. Hence, they shouldn t even be considered to be persons. However, this objection isn t valid since eventually even infants will develop the capability to think, retain memories and value life since abilities are developmental in nature. Also, if rationality and self awareness define personhood and determine the moral significance of persons, then there are many fully grown adults who can be disqualified as persons, for example an adult under coma. According to this argument, since comatose patients are unconscious and can t rationally think at the time, killing them would be permissible too. ARGUMENT I argue that infanticide is impermissible under any circumstance. I will support my stance by arguing against Peter Singer s argument that supports the infanticide of disabled infants. In Taking Life: Humans, Singer states that if we can morally kill a disabled fetus that has no self consciousness, it follows that we can morally kill a disabled infant that has no self consciousness. Take note that Singer argues in favor of committing infanticide of only disabled infants if it serves the interests of the parents. He does not argue that it is right to ... The increased level of empowerment allows each division manger control over day to day decisions that will increase profitability. This key success factor contributes to mitigating threats related to price and cost including the cyclical nature of industry, raw material cost, and low cost competitors. Perhaps Nucor s most important key factor of success, the building of successful employee relations is more difficult to imitate by competitors than tangible business factors. Use of Disruptive Technology Nucor has an extremely a strong technological focus. Their introduction of the mini mill has proven to be industry changing with the manufacture of raw sheet for the auto industry. Additionally Nucor introduced the first electric arc furnace, continuous casting, the process to avoid reheating billits, and the twin shell furnace. The value added by Nucor technology in mitigating threats is proven by a high sales volume and steady profits. Analyzing The Poem This Lime-Tree Bower My Prison Many poets commonly use imagery as a primary literary device in their poems to convey important themes with objects, symbols, and motifs throughout the piece; the author of This Lime tree Bower my Prison is no exception. Throughout the poem, figurative language is present in the form of descriptions and relationships to nature. The imagery of nature describing the progression in the speaker s attitude reflects the transitioning between stages of thinking changing of reliance and thoughts on nature as a higher being to a reliance on the self and individual thought. The things found in nature, from flowers to sunsets, are used to describe the movement of the poem and the changes in the speaker s attitude throughout. Nature is a pivotal point... • 7. Essay Monotheism vs. Polytheism Monotheism and polytheism are two very different belief systems. Monotheism is the belief in one god and polytheism is the belief in more one than one god. The concept of morality can and does exist within cultures that have only one god, as well as cultures that have multiple gods. Without morality, the world would be a place of extreme chaos and pandemonium. However, the foundation for morality within polytheistic religions is quite contradictory to the foundation for morality with monotheistic religions. Morality within polytheismis somewhat inconsistent and relative; whereas in monotheism, morality becomes more consistent and absolute. Morality exists throughout all cultures and religions of the world in some shape or form. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the foundations for morality in polytheism and monotheism are quite different. In polytheism the foundation for morality seems inconsistent and relative. Polytheistic religions have no ultimate reality or god to set a standard for morality that all the followers must obey. Instead, each of the many gods could have their own set of standards for morality. The inconsistency of morality could theoretically lead one to be faced with the dilemma of which god is correct. Let s suppose one is having an extramarital affair and is not sure if she should continue the affair or stop. Should she pray to the goddess of lust and passion, to the god that is all knowing or to the god of family and relationship? Not only does the inconsistency of morality standards cause followers to be faced with choosing which gods to embrace, but also cause them to be faced which god is appropriate to pray for moral guidance on different subjects. The notion that each of the multiple gods can set their standards for morality, allows for the follower to circumstantially pick and choose which god to follow. It is possible for a follower to be circumstantially selective because they do not have to answer to one specific god. One can choose to follow a certain god because that particular god s set of morals allows them to fulfill some desire or need that would otherwise not fulfilled under other ... • 9. The Use Of Ester Interchange Reactions During The... PRODUCTION OF PET We utilize the rapidity of ester interchange reactions during the production process. The acid (terephthalic acid) is converted to the dimethyl ester, which is further purified by distillation or crystallization. This is then allowed to react with the glycol by ester interchange. The reaction generally is a two step reaction a. First, low MW polyester is made with excess of glycol to ensure that the hydroxyl end groups are formed and then the temperature is raised and pressure is decreased to facilitate condensation of these molecules by ester interchange simultaneously with the loss of glycol. [7] PET resins can be produced in two ways commercially. These two ways are by using one among dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) or terephthalic acid (TPA) with Ethylene Glycol(EG). These processes are generally known as the DMT Process and the TPA process. The intermediate bis (2 hydroxyethyl) terephthalate monomer (BHET) is produced in both these processes. This is accompanied by methanol when using DMT and water when using TPA. The BHET intermediate formed is polymerized with heat and catalyst to produce PET resins. The older route is the DMT process. [8] Process using DMT [9] It is a two step process. The ratio of DMT to EG is generally 2:1. There is the possibility of using either batch operation or continuous operations to produce PET using DMT. • 12. Unit 1 Parachute Investigation Stage 1 Physics investigation Parachute Investigation The purpose of this assignment is to work out a parachute design and investigate parachute s drop time. Parachutes are designed to fall slowly so that the person can land safely to the ground, as shown in figure 1. Parachutes are big, but not heavy and have a larger surface area for air resistance like traps the air from escaping out of it. This is because the air pushes the parachute back up, but the force of gravity pulls the parachute to the earth. Figure 1 In figure 1, the force of the gravity is pulling the person and the parachute towards the ground because gravitational force makes the object fall quickly. However, the parachute slows the person down because it causes air resistance as it pushes the parachute back up and creates an opposite gravitational force. The forces push or a pull are called action and reaction forces, the subject of newton s third law. During this investigation, the push force is the air resistance and opposite (pull) force is the gravity. It is predicted that four sided parachute will take more time to reach the ground because the larger the surface area, more air particles hit/collide with the parachute, as shown in diagram 2. Nevertheless, the smaller the surface area of the parachute, fewer air particles collide and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Rhodes Must Fall Movement was created by the students in order for black students to feel like they belong and included in the university, as well as for equality for black students and students of colour within UCT. This is due to the fact that one man will be replacing another using the same force that was used to colonise them (Fanon, 2001). Decolonisation can be described as being a process of complete disorder as it is when two or more conflicting forces meet one another. These opposing forces will have their own beliefs as well as different ways of doing certain tasks (Fanon, 2001). The movement of Rhodes Must Fall is exactly that. During the movement, violence is seen when human excrement is thrown at the statue of Cecil John Rhodes. Another representation of violence is the sudden outbreak of one of the leaders and the vandalism that was present. Although Fanon states that violence will always be a part of the decolonisation process, I do not believe that we should associate and include violence when standing up for what we believe in, as this may infringe on peoples human rights if one does not feel safe in a certain situation where violence is a prominent ... The story begins with the breakup of the ancient supercontinent of Rodinia 750 million years ago. Plate tectonic processes dispersed the fragments of Rodinia forming a system of ancient continents that existed from the late Proterozoic through much of the Paleozoic. Continued tectonic movement eventually resulted in a set of continental collisions and reformation of the ancient continents into Pangaea. She illustrates her father having a neat mustache (Plath 43), which is similar to Hitler s infamous mustache. Plath uses sarcasm by saying that Every woman adores a Fascist, / The boot in the face, the brute/ Brute heart of a brute like you. (Plath 48 50), joking that women love the controlling wicked men like Hitler. She also compares her father to the devil himself. She looks at a picture she has of him, and describes A cleft in [her father s] chin instead of [his] foot/ But no less a devil for that (Plath 53 54), connecting the cleft in his chin to a cleft in a hoof of the Devil. Lastly, she models the man she was with for Seven years, if you want to know (Plath 74) as a vampire. Plath states that this man drank [her] blood for a year (Plath 73), draining and dominating her just as a vampire would do with his victims. A few things were trading between white slave owners, along with very harsh treatment. The people who transported the slaves ignored the fact that they were humans, too. The journey being labeled as horrific would be an understatement and would not give it justice. There was an abundant amount of trading and bartering that happened between white slave owners. Edwards says that all is soon lost, irrecoverable, irredeemable and this notion/idea does not support the play because hope can be seen at the end of the play. Tragedy is loss overtime and uncompensated suffering; and this is not seen in the play. Although there are instances of pessimism and cynicism throughout the play (like how Thomasina dies young), the story is rather optimistic in it s ending. Hannah is a character that is constantly mentioning the benefits of learning and advancing society through research and science. Thomasina s research will go down in history and help science evolve. • 30. Decay And Its Effects On The Global Amount Of Carbon Decay Decay All living things must decay to balance the global amount of carbon. Decay can take many years to be completed. Some decay more rapidly than others. For instance, Robinia Pseudoacacia, or Black Locust, has a slower decay rate than coniferous. These both also differ from the decay of human bodies. There are also some less substantial things that can decay as well, but are not needed for balance. All softwoods come from coniferous trees. They grow faster than hardwoodtrees, and are easier to manufacture. This is because the trees grow fairly tall and straight which makes it easier to cut long, straight planks. Because of the easy manufacturing, this type of woodcomes very cheap. Most softwoodis used for indoor furniture, or decoration. Some types of softwood trees are: pine, spruce, cedar, and redwood. These trees decay faster for the same reason they are easily manufactured. Manufacturers put several layers of paint on some of the trees. This is one factor that contributes in preventing decay. All it does though, is keep out the fungus that causes decay (mr dt.com). The only agent of wood decay are fungi. Wood does deteriorate from insects, UV rays, and marine animals, but this is not actually decay. There are three types of decay; white, brown, and soft. In fact, the U.S. Housing and Urban development (H.U.D.) reports there are over 39,000 members of the armed services living on the street (2016). The main causes of homelessnessamong veterans include lack of housing, jobs, and access to healthcare (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, n.d.). There has been a call for the freedom to live in the style of which one chooses, so long as no one else is harmed in the process. One area that appears little understood, however, is transvestitism, or cross dressing. In order to gain some knowledge about this phenomenon, there are many aspects of transvestitism that should be examined, some being: history, societal views, the gay versus straight issue, and women dressing as men. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why, then are most cross dressers secretive about their affection for this? According to Dr. Peggy Rudd (1995), most are secretive, because they have many fears related to the consequences of having their big secret discovered. In general, non participants do not consider transvestitism, socially acceptable. Many cross dressers fear the detrimental effects upon other family members, and many are concerned about the possibility of losing their job as a result of coming out. Some cross dressers feel guilty because society has placed them into stereotypes, including the incorrect assumption that all cross dressers are gay, or that all transvestites are potential transsexuals. To the contrary, while some are gay, most cross dressers want to share their life with a woman, and the number of gay males is far less among crossdressers than among the general population (Rudd, 1995). Most identify primarily as a male who has, and retains, male gender identity. Often they are married, and the father of children. (Prince, 1971) This in itself presents the question of whether or not to tell spouses, and/or, their children about this. Many do not, out of fear of being seen as deviant, and perhaps losing those most dear to them. It is a natural thing for cross dressers to want to share all of themselves with those they love, but as there is risk of rejection, many choose to wait until they feel comfortable that the risk has lessened, or keep it a secret forever. • 34. Weimar Republic Failure There are many historians that believe the Weimar Republic was doomed from the beginning of its existence as a rump state of the once powerful German Empire. Other historians believe the republic is not such a failure as it seems in textbooks and online articles. Both sides unanimously agree that the Weimar Republicwas a failed attempt at bringing democracy to a predominantly monarchical (and tyrannical) Europe. The majority of historians that agree the ill fated Weimar Republic was a smudge on Germanyduring the Interwar Period have a large amount of validities to support that claim. However, these validities also apply to the latter (to a lesser extent) , with one major problem resolved by the republic. One of the claims is that the Weimar Republic was simply too weak to establish itself as a political power in Germany, being contested by left and right wing extremist groups. There were often frequent rebellions in Germany, led by Communists and Marxists. The military at the time was far too outnumbered to quell these rebellions in their own jurisdiction. Another major impediment was the hyperinflation of the currency of that time, the German Mark. After the Great War, Germany was in a state of utter devastation and rebellion. • 36. The Price Elasticity Of Demand Price elasticity of demand is defined as a measure of the responsiveness or sensitivity of consumers to changes in the price of a good or service (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 199). Mathematically, the price elasticity of demand is calculated by dividing the percentage change in quantity demanded by the percentage change in price. Demand is said to be elastic whenever the absolute value of the percentage change in quantity demanded exceeds the percentage change in price, which means the absolute value of the elasticitywould be greater than one. If the absolute value of the price elasticity of demandis less than one, the demand is said to be inelastic, or less sensitive to the price change. There are various factors that affect the price elasticity of products, in the following sections these factors will be applied to the demand of desktop computers. The first factor which is the most important determinant of price elasticity of demand is the availability of substitutes (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 205). For any product where quality substitutes are readily available, the price elasticity of demand will be high. For example, if the price of desktop computers was to rise by 20%, the quantity of desktop computers demanded would most likely decrease by a greater percentage. This is because consumers could easily go out and purchase laptop computer or tablets to accomplish tasks for which they needed the desktop computer. Likewise, if the price of desktop computer ... In 2005, the Israeli government decided to give up the Gaza Strip, including Gush Katif, in an effort to bring peace to the middle east. They did not take into consideration much of the consequences of their actions. The attempt to create peace by giving Gush Katif to the Palestinians not only did not have that effect, but the exact opposite effect, creating more violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians, as well as a lack of trust between the government and some of the Israeli people. Gush Katif is a village in the Middle East that is a part of the Gaza Strip. In 2005, it was given to the Palestinians by the Israeli government. Due to its close proximity to Palestinian land, Gush Katif was a constant location for terrorist attacks. The first main attack was by the Gaza palestinians in December of 1987. The residents of Gush Katif did not know how to handle the conflict. Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin said that they will help Gush Katif and prove to the palestinians that they will not win through violence, no matter how long it takes. Another famous bombing in Gush Katif was the November 20th 2000 school bus bombing. At 7:30am, a bomb blew up a school bus carrying children to school. Two children were killed and nine were critically injured. Three siblings had to get amputations. There were also constant attacks to vehicles on Kissufim road, most of which were suicide bombings on children s busses. Lots of people got hurt. Despite all the terrorism, the residents of Gush Katif were not afraid of living there. They claimed that this land was given to them in the Torah and that all of Israel had their problems so they would not feel safer in the center of Tel Aviv. In 2004, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon announced The Disengagement Plan. This plan stated that the residents of Gush Katif and other villages throughout Gaza would be expelled from their homes and their land would be given to the palestinians. • 40. The Airline Industry Is The Most Unionized Industry,... The airline industry is the most unionized industry, therefore the labor cost in unionized airlines is about 35% of the unit cost in North America and it is also the highest cost component of airline business (Malik, 2016). Moreover the federal aviation regulation require airlines to flight with pilots who has the specific training and experience at the airline. Therefore when the union strike it is very difficult for the company to just find other pilots and continue its operations, giving the airlines union greater reward than other industry unions. An investor in a unionized U.S. airline should not expect to see a return on the investment and, should expect an eventual Chapter 11 bankruptcy (Greenspun, 2010). Therefore the... Additionally if the union agreed to sign the contract in 2015, it means the conditions were better than other companies in the industry. However if the current conditions in the industry are less favorable for the employees, will the union accept a renegotiation of the contract to decrease the salaries? I don t think they will accept any change to the contract before the stipulated date. In my opinion this is the main reason why companies are disappearing and many people are unemployed, because in rare occasions unions are willing to compromise and contribute to the success of the company. After employees saw how American Airline ranked sixth on competitive salaries compared with other companies in the industry they are thinking to leave the Allied Pilots Association and join the larger Air Line Pilots Association, because they felt their interest were not well represented by APA. Moreover when Delta agreed to better benefits and higher compensations than APA members, they decide it could be more beneficial to switch to a larger union. Native Americans In Leslie Silko s Ceremony Honors Essay on Ceremony Imagine being a Native American and suffering the horrors of being a prisoner of the Japanese, and later restricted to a lonely, alienated reservation in New Mexico. How would you cope with the trauma of the war and the discrimination that would follow? Without preserving their ceremonies, stories and traditional culture the Native Americans would not have made it through the racism, depression, and alcoholism that resulted from being mistreated. The book, Ceremony, by Leslie Silko described the racism that the Indians faced from the Whites on the reservation, how the soldiers were treated during World War II, the importance of storytelling in their culture, and how some Indians used alcohol as their refuge.... When the Native Americans practiced their ceremonies, they felt powerful, in control, and connected with their people. When they practiced their native culture, it tied their tribes together. • 43. Design Of Low Pass Fir Filter DESIGN OF LOW PASS FIR FILTER THROUGH PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION Abstract: In the common case, the impulse response is finite because there is no feedback in the FIR. A lack of feedback guarantees that the impulse response will be finite. Therefore, the term finite impulse response is nearly synonymous with no feedback . However, if feedback is employed yet the impulse response is finite, the filter still is a FIR. In this paper FIR filter design through particle swarm optimization. Key words: FIR filter, particle swarm optimization INTRODUCTION FIR filters can also be designed from a frequency response specification. It is developed from swarm intelligence and is inspired by social behaviour of bird flocking or fish schooling. PSO is an optimization algorithm with implicit parallelism which can be easily handled with the non differential objective functions. PSO algorithm uses a number of particle vectors moving around in the solution space searching for the optimist solution. Every particle in the algorithm acts as a point in the N dimensional space. Each particle keeps the information in the solution space for each iteration and the best solution is calculated that has obtained by that particle is called personal best (pbest). This solution is obtained according to the personal experiences of each particle vector. Another best value that is tracked by the PSO is in the neighborhood of that particle and this value is called (gbest) Figure 1 PSO flow chart. Mademoiselle Reisz In The Awakening The Character of Mademoiselle Reisz in The Awakening nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; She was a disagreeable little woman, no longer young, who had quarreled with almost everyone, owing to a temper which was self assertive and a disposition to trample upon the rights of others. (25) This is how Kate Chopin introduces the character of Mademoiselle Reisz into her novel, The Awakening. A character who, because of the similarities she shares with Madame Pontellier, could represent the path Madame Pontellier s life may have taken, had she survived old age. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another similarity between the two women is in regard to their taste in men. At one point in the novel, Mademoiselle Reisz mentions that If I were young and in love with a man it seems to me he would have to be some grand esprit; it seems to me if I were young and in love I should never deem a man of ordinary caliber worthy of my devotion. (81) This definition of Mademoiselle s ideal love almost perfectly matches that of Edna s. For Edna was searching for the same qualities within Robert; a change, something that goes astray from the ordinary. Mr. Pontellier, her husband, was simply that, ordinary, which she did not want. A third parallel seen through the relationship between Mademoiselle Reisz and Madame Pontellier is their aversion to the water. Although Edna sees the sea as whispering, clamoring, murmuring (and ) inviting, (13) toward the beginning of the novel, she is hesitant to completely submerge herself in it. This can be logically explained in that she cannot swim. However, she continues to walk along the shore and place her feet in the tide, but other than that, before she learns to swim, that is the extent of her bathing experience. Mademoiselle Reisz is also described to have some sort of physical aversion to the sea as well. This can be seen when she blatantly refuses to follow Edna to the water claiming that she hasn t been in the surf all summer, and that to bathe in it at the end of the season would be pointless. More accurately, the way we listen and enjoy to it has changed, thanks to technology s massive influence on the way that we live our lives today. With most things there s both the good and the bad, and this situation is no different. But I believe that technology is causing so much more chaos than calm for the modern music and entertainment industry. Music has become so easy to access and listen to, thanks to advances in technology. We now have the ability to listen to music, on demand, at any time, and anywhere we go. It s in our pockets, on our iPods, on our phones, tablets and laptops. We can listen to music on free to air on television and radio. We can pull out a device, press play, and have music right there at our fingertips. Although this appears to be positive for the consumer, meaning that there is more music available for them to enjoy with increased accessibility, the effect on record labels and artists is somewhat negative. Gone are the days where you would save up your money to purchase the $20 CD from the record store, just to get that one song you loved. Originally conceived as a fatherly entity intervening into the lives of the troubled urban youths, it has since been transformed into a rigid and adversarial arena restrained by the demands of personal liberty and due process. The nature of a juvenile s experience within the juvenile justice systemhas come almost full circlefrom being treated as an adult, then as an unaccountable child, now almost as an adult once more. Colonists placed their children either in the homes of others or, as technology enabled the industrial revolution, in factories and other locations of modern industry near the home. Writes Feld, ?The coterminous location of home and workplace and the limited range of occupations enabled young people to learn most of their required economic skills either from their parents or from surrounding adults and quickly to achieve adult productivity,? (21). More importantly, children from a relatively young age were expected to assume adult culpability for crimes they committed. Punishments for children rivaled those for adults. As time marched on, childhood became a socially constructed stage of life. Coupled with a rise in the traditional family view of domesticity (men at work, women isolated as homemakers), new concepts of child rearing took hold in the middle and upper classes. Instead of exposing children to the world, ?Deferral of adult responsibilities rather than assumption of adult roles became the child rearing norm,? writes Feld (30). The ?child saving? movement worked to segregate children from society both directly and indirectly. These protective measures were based chiefly on middle class, protestant, white, rural idealists who viewed childhood as a stage of moral immaturity and impressionability. ?Progressive reformers implemented a variety of child saving strategies ...
