The Cold War Era During World War II
The Cold War Era that followed the end of World War II was unlike any Americans had seen before.
After defeating Germany and its allies in the war, the United States faced a change on the home front:
young Americans rushed into marriage and parenthood in unprecedented numbers. In Homeward
Bound: American Families in the Cold War Era, Elaine Tyler May describes these changes from the
end of the war through the early 1960s. The author makes a compelling range of arguments about the
changes that affected Americans during this period. Mainly, May argues that the domestic containment
that arose after World War II promoted the new dynamic of a suburban lifestyle, in part because of the
increasing fright of looming communism during the Cold War Era. May coins the term domestic
containment as the center of her argument in her book Homeward Bound. Domestic containment
refers to the happy American suburban lifestyle home that was reinforced by popular culture because
of the scare of communism. All of May s other arguments in the book hinge on her larger focus on
domestic containment being Americans overriding ideology during the early Cold War. May states,
The self contained home held out the promise of security in insecure world. It also offered a vision of
abundance and fulfillment. As the cold war began, young postwar Americans were homeward bound.
It had become evident to Americans that the world outside the natural boundaries of the country was
unstable. The

My Long Term and Short Term Goals
Professional and Personal Goals December 12, 2011
Someone famous once wrote, A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. That s deep!
But, in a way, it s obvious and should go without saying. However, so many people try to just jump
the whole thousand miles at once and seem to forget that careful steps and rest stops must be made
along the way to successfully (the main word is successfully ) complete that journey. I ve had my
goals and aspirations for a long time but I m not sure that I ever started out in the most organized
fashion. My professional goals remain the same but I now realize that effective time management is
the main way to achieve my goals in a less stressful manner. I understand ... Show more content on

My original plan was to pursue my Bachelor s Degree after my sons graduated college, since I support
them financially, but when I realized that most of the hospitals require nurses to have a bachelor s
degree, I decided that the sooner I start working towards my professional long term goal, the better. It
goes without saying that the two most important milestones to achieving this goal will be my sons
individual graduation days.
My personal long term goal is to go back to my country of Haiti and offer my assistance to those who
have experienced and still experience the hardships and tragedies which the country has undergone.
When I left home and came to the United States, I came with a high school diploma but could speak
no English. As a single mother, I raised my four sons, worked, and went to school. With the help of
scholarships and financial aid, I obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. I want to pay it forward , as
they say, and give back to my country so that others could receive the same opportunity as I did. This
long term personal goal will be greatly influenced by finances. Therefore, one of the milestones to
achieving this goal is tied into my professional goals (both long and short term). I will need to acquire
one of those more stable positions at one of the area hospitals and I will have to be working there for
at least a few years before I would feel comfortable enough to ask for time to return to my country to
assist. This is where a timeline

Enveloped Virus Research Paper
Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites; their lack of biochemical machinery makes them
dependent on the host cell for replication.5,8 The viral replication process involves assembly
individual components into viral progeny. Viruses consist of a DNA or RNA genome that is packaged
into a protective protein capsid shell; additionally, some viruses are surrounded by an outer,
membranous envelope.2,5,8 Viral genomes are used to express viral proteins.5 However, because
these viral genomes do not encode for the machinery necessary to carry out protein synthesis, viral
genomes must be copied into mRNA that can be read by host ribosomes.5,7,8 There are seven major
types of viral genomes that are classified by the Baltimore system. 5 All viruses ... Show more content

polyproteins for Gag (capsid, matrix and nucleic acid binding proteins), Pol (polymerase, protease and
integrase) and Env (envelope proteins).

Witch Craft Trials Research Paper
There has been a plethora of research conducted that supports the notion that witch craft trials
occurred in Scotland primarily during the 16th and 17th centuries in England and Scotland and had an
impact on the way people chose to live their lives during this time period. Witches were seen as people
who had turned their backs on God and Christianity and entered a pact with the Devil. Due to this
belief, people were quick to prosecute potentially witches to keep the community safe. Furthermore,
there were many different elements of life that had an impact on witch craft trials and their outcomes,
such as the state/national government, local officials and arguably most importantly, the church.
Specifically during the Civil War we saw an increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to be tried as a witch, someone who believed themselves to be victimized would come
forward to the authorities. However, before a witch received a formal trial by a criminal court she was
generally identified by a kirk session. Being involved in the first stage of witchcraft trials allowed the
church to help identify witches and begin the interrogation process. In order for an individual to be
tried by a criminal court the church had to seek the approval of the Privy council. Cases with an
abundance of evidence were more likely to have a trial this is still the case today in court cases. If the
court believes there is a high success rate that the accused will be convicted they are more inclined to
bring the issue to court. In addition, the best piece of evidence in the 17th century and today is a
confession. Unfortunately during witchcraft trials confessions were frequently acquired by illegitimate
and morally reprehensible ways. As stated by Goodare ... [the witch] had often been arrested and
interrogated (typically with deprivation of sleep) to obtain a

Lab On A Chip Lab Report
Introduction The research is specifically carried out on Particle Sorting using the interplay between the
Travelling Surface Acoustic Wave and the Stationary Surface Acoustic Wave. Sorting individual
cells/particles of interest from a heterogeneous population has been of critical importance in biological
studies and clinical applications, such as single cell sequencing, rare cell isolation, and drug screening.
The introduction of lab on a chip (i.e.,
small sized analytical devices) has spurred steadily increasing interest and research efforts in the
microfluidics discipline (upon which lab on a chip devices are based). The promise of such lab on a

Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation of
particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a
substrate, separation has been shown using acoustic streaming in droplets, in an open chamber and in
a channel.
Description of Research Methodology In this research we will examine the use of acoustic radiation
forces alone for particle separation in a system, and demonstrate that the controllability of this type of
acoustic force allows highly specific separation. SAW is generated by a spatially periodic electrical
field to create a resonant condition on a piezoelectric substrate.
Further, in TSAW a wave travels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter
propagating wave. We will utilise both TSAW and SSAW; the former acts to push the particles across
the chamber, the latter to capture particles in bands of minimum force potential. The system will
consist of a microfluidic chamber, cast in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and bonded onto a lithium
niobate, LiNbO3 (LN) piezoelectric substrate.
The device will be held under a microscope using a frame. The

Tarantula Research Paper
Tarantulaś are harmless to humans even though their hairy bodies give humans the creeps. Tarantula
comes from a town called Taranto Italy. The kingdom for a tarantula is called animalia because a
tarantula is a heterotrophic that motile during one stage life. Phylum of a tarantula is arthropoda
because it has jointed appendages, a chitinous exoskeleton, and a segmented body. The class that the
tarantula belongs to is arachnida which also belongs to the subphylum chelicerata. Tarantula has eight
legs and 2 more appendages that are used for sensory adaptations, feeding, and able to move. The
order for the tarantula is araneae which have 4 pairs of legs, no antennae, and two body parts.

A tarantulaś perceives its surroundings primarily via sensory organs. Touch is its keenest since in
hunting it depends on vibrations giving off by the movements of its prey. A tarantulaś hair and spine
are very sensitive and are used to sense chemical signatures, vibrations, wind direction, and possibly
sound. Tarantula has eyes that are small and are usually set in two rows of four and are not able to see
much more than light, darkness, and motion.
Male tarantulas are bright in color, smaller in size, and are more active than females. Females tend to
be plumper and more relax. It is usually impossible to tell male from female in juvenile spiders. In
adults you need to look right after a molt. At that time, a male will exhibit a structure called the pal pal
bulb on the underside of the front leg like structure called the pedipalp. He then uses his pedipalps to
deposit sperm into female´s reproductive organs on the underside of her abdomen Male tarantulas are
smaller than females, making copulation dangerous for them. Reproduction of a tarantula is very
complicated. Summer and fall are the usual time for tarantulas to mate. The male tarantula searches
for a female late at night and in the evening. As the males travel over a great distance at times, humans
who see them sometimes assume they are migrating. Actually this is simply part of the mating process
of tarantulas. When he finds a willing female waiting in

Bhutan s Gross National Happiness
Bhutan s gross national happiness
If you don t know about Bhutan s government and their focus over the past forty years than you
should, you and people in your community might want to take a closer look at this small country and
how it is impacting the world. Bhutan is a small country located in the himalayas between China and
India and is one of the happiest countries in the world because the government has focused on
following the four pillars of happiness. Each pillar supports and helps to provide the right environment
for happiness, these pillars are compatible living conditions, religion, maintaining the environment,
and reliable government support. Bhutan s government has decided to take this radical approach,
helping its citizens by trying to improve the nation s gross national happiness. Bhutan has stayed
relatively poor in wealth but rich in culture and happiness.
Only recently has Bhutan started building cities and roads but the country is careful not to jump into
an industrial revolution like many countries already have. Bhutan has been careful to slowly bring
western culture and technology into their country hoping to preserve their culture and lifestyle.
Although Bhutan can only give an estimate on their population most people still live in small villages
and rely use sustenance farming, and only recently have they made small cities for people to come to.

Corn Vs Corn
Although cows evolved to survive on grass, farmers are now feeding them corn for rapid growth to
benefit the U.S. Economy. After six months, calves are weaned off grass, put into pens, and forced to
eat corn. While this does not make sense from an environmental, health, or humane treatment of
animal s viewpoint, economically it does, as a corn enriched diet enables cows to reach slaughter
weight faster and produce more to meet demands. Corn is a cheap commodity to purchase compared
to the farmer s cost to produce. The industrial farmer relies on the large volume and low purchase
price of corn to help shorten a cow s lifespan and provide food more rapidly to the American
population. Grass fed cows take longer to reach their ideal weight for ... Show more content on

The introduction of chemical fertilizers and other technological inputs created a surplus of corn on
American farmland. In the early 1900 s farmers were only able to grow small bushels of corn but
today there is an excess amount. Although such an overabundance represented a great achievement in
American agriculture, the excess corn needed some use and one way to reduce overage is to feed it to
farm animals; especially cows. Corn does not require a lot of space to store and it is extremely easy to
collectively feed a considerable number of cows. Feeding cows low priced corn as required by the
Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation s CAFO is economically efficient and enables the production
of large quantities of marbled meat that was once a luxury for many Americans. However, even
though feeding corn to cattle helps in the process of fattening cows for slaughter, it also produces
many health risks that the United States Department of Agriculture USDA overlooks in their effort to
help eliminate the corn surplus, and bring rapid profit to the few corporations that run the meat

School Uniforms Policy Analysis
Local school districts, the state, individual schools, and the state have mutual interest embedded into
the decision of adopting a uniform policy. As a result, school uniforms can be mandatory in some
schools while in others remain voluntary. The wearing of a school uniform implies that all students in
the school are required to wear clothing that matches in color, length, and design. There have been
arguments put across against the wearing of uniforms in schools. The primary argument against
implementation of school uniforms policy is that it is an infringement of the first amendment Rights of
the USA constitution (DeMitchell Fossey, 2015).
The breach comes about when students are not able to express their personality through the dressing.

Peer pressure is human nature that has limited control. Both the advertising and the fashion industries,
along with the other instruments of the media in our way of life, impacts to the peer pressure we go
through (Roman Taylor, 2013). The students do feel not only the pressure to conform but also the
parents and the teachers in general. Students are under the pressure to wear the so called fresh outfits
so that they can ultimately fit in with their peers. Making a fashion statement is the medium to be
accepted and liked amongst an individual s peers (Sanchez et al., 2012). As a result, students impact
the pressure to their parents in their efforts to have cool clothes that will enable them to fit in with
their peers. Parents thus find themselves in a situation of purchasing attires that meet the peer s
requirement despite the fact that they are also subject to go out of style.
School uniforms will thus give students and parents another useful weapon in their war against social
pressures and thus enable students to lay less prominence on trendy clothes and more emphasis on
affecting their education. For some students, more so girls, uniforms will give them more time to sleep
or do something constructive in the morning rather than deciding what trendy outfit to wear (Sanchez
et al., 2012). It is conclusive that uniforms promote a relevant law that people should be judged by
their character and not their

Students Disrespectful In Schools
Why are students disrespectful in schools? There is no specific factor for disrespectful students in
schools. Students are mocking teachers. You re a terrible teacher! No one cares about school. Teachers
are humiliating students in front of their peers. Consistently criticizing students for their lack of
enthusiasm, laziness, insubordination, and ungratefulness. Students fight amongst themselves,
compete against one another in an effort to achieve high marks even if it means cheating on
assignments and assessments. Unfortunately, this epidemic of disrespect needs to be acknowledged.
Why? Because the rapid changes we have witnessed in our schools in the 21st Century has become a
troubling phenomenon. As teachers, we are to provide a safe and positive learning environment
conducive to learning. We have a simple job and that is to teach students material and to make sure
they understand it. Unfortunately, we have those students who make our lives difficult. They have
complete disrespect for their teachers as well as their peers because they are disrupting the classroom
affecting the learning abilities of those students who want to be there. Most students lean toward this
type of behavior when teachers are trying to discipline them. We enforce discipline because it is our
job to make sure the learning environment stays focused. Other students don t want to hear their
classmates disrupting the lesson by talking back to teachers or arguing with their peers.

What Are the Strengths and Weaknesses of the Policy Making...
The policy making process in CA plays an instrumental role in the prosperity and quality of life that
exist today, and will exist in the future for CA. Public policy can be defined as a public response to
public problems. It s what the government says and does about these problems. Policy is when
government and nongovernmental agents work together to create solutions for the public at large. The
policy actors are formal, as well as informal; they are individuals or groups, which bring about the
influence needed to implement public solutions. There are numerous issues within CA that are
increasing the strain placed on the policy making process. The biggest challenge CA faces in the next
few decades is meeting the needs of a growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to create the best political strategy, there is no question that you must have the ability to raise
a lot of funds. The CA constitution says that governmental authority is to be shared with the voters.
They should have the ability to voice their opinions through the initiative process, the recall, and the
referendum. However, the input of the people in CA is muffled by the glass ceiling we the minorities
face. You might be wondering how we are the minority. We are the minority in CA because we don t
have the money to represent ourselves, and so we are left out in the cold. This is a problem because we
are the individuals in society that have the first hand experience, and the knowledge needed to educate
our political actors on the areas within society that need to be addressed for changes. Changes that
could affect the lives of every individual; we make up the largest part of the population of the state, we
are the foundation that supports our society, and we re the ones that are left out. The process adopted
within the policy making infrastructure today, dedicates access to those who are economically elite in
CA. Unless minorities are given the means to be heard by political actors, the instabilities in the
foundation of our society will continue to be ignored, and CA s future success will remain
unpredictable. Within the legislature there is a lot of discretion in defining, implementing, and

The Public Schooling System Is Not The Same Since
The public schooling system is not the same since they have been dwindling down the right for
religion to be in schools. Religion needs to be put back into the school system so then maybe people
will be more informed on things out in the real world. I am not saying that it needs to be a required
course, however, give students the opportunity to learn about it. Among just making it a course in
itself one course it could be reintroduced to is the science class. They talk about evolution but yet they
do not teach about creationism. In history classes they can reintroduce religion because important
religious facts (like Martin Luther King Jr. being a black priest) have been taken out of school text
books so people do not get offended. When I say religion needs to be put back in the schooling system
I mean most religions that are in the world today and not just Christianity. Students would do a lot
better in school if there was some sort of religious class being taught. I understand that schools cannot
teach just any one religion legally because people in today s world are taking the first amendment to
seriously. However, if they could, they might see a lot of students excelling in school. This includes all
students, because they are learning more about their beliefs and if they want, other beliefs as well as
learning better how to cope with today s society. It would have been better for me for the simple fact
that I would have been relying more on God then what I was

How Does Danforth Occur In The Crucible
The mass witch hysteria in Salem. Massachusetts, deteriorated the rational and emotional stability of
its citizens. The obvious breakdown in Salem s social order led to the tragedy in which twenty
innocent people were hanged on the accusation of witchcraft. At many points throughout the play
there were opportunities to stop the witch trials; however, one character in particular prevented the
crease in convictions. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Deputy Governor Danforth is responsible for
the tragedy in Salem. One of many reasons the witch trials were able to continue was because of Judge
Danforth s ignorance towards what was actually going on in Salem. When Francis Nurse and John
Proctor try to explain to him the girls are deceiving him, he over rules their ideas by challenging And
do you know that near to four hundred are in the jails from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my
signature? (Miller 179). Danforth is proud to say that he has put people in jail, put people to death for
witchcraft because his ignorance blocks him from seeing the evidence he is presented with is false. As
well as being exposed to false evidence, Judge Danforth also makes the claim that witchcraft cannot
be disproved; therefore the court has to rely solely on the girl s accusations. Danforth declares, But

Christianity And Hinduism .According To The Human Truth
Christianity and Hinduism According to the human truth foundation (2017) religions are shared
collection of transcendental beliefs that have been passed on from believers to converts, which are
held by adherents to be actively meaningful and serious and either based on formally documented
doctrine or established cultural practices. There are many religions in the world some are old as the

Respect in the Military Essay
Respect in the Military It has been said that military standards are higher than the country demands of
its president. And that is true. President Clinton lied under oath. Perhaps that is not perjury, but an
army officer could not do that. Nor could army personnel have extramarital affairs. Kelly Flynn found
that out when she lost her position in the Air Force and years of pilot training went down the drain.
But for the Commander in Chief, it is another story. While it is true that the Commander in Chief is
able to get away with misbehavior, military personnel have been warned not to criticize him. In fact,
the various branches have been reminding troops that they can be prosecuted for publicly condemning

Thus, just because Clinton admitted to doing the misdeeds, he cannot be criticized by military
members. In other words, one cannot accurately talk about President Clinton without getting into
serious trouble. The military may seem unnecessarily restrictive or antiquated but there is a reason for
the mandate. Officers must respect their superiors. It is simple as that. The reasoning behind that is
that routines and orders must be obeyed. After all, soldiers are being trained and must be ready to go
into combat at any time. The reason that the personnel cannot criticize their leader should be obvious.
If a war or conflict were to break out, it would significantly affect performance as well as the world s
perception about the United States. Thus, no matter how one feels, there must be respect given to
every single officer all the way up the line to the commander in chief. The fact that Clinton himself
has not been in compliance is immaterial. While he is the Commander in Chief he is still considered to
be a civilian. While it is important to give the president respect, respect to Military Superior
Commanding Officers and Non Commission Officers is perhaps even more pertinent. If theoretically,
when one is in the trenches with superiors, they must be ready to accept orders willingly. The only
way to accomplish this is with respect and military courtesy. Thus, the fundamental purpose of having

The Brain is set up with two systems one is your involuntary this is the system that collects stimuli
and process it. It s the system that makes automatic decisions for us, like turning our heads when we
hear our names called or freezing when we see a spider.
While system 2 runs the voluntary parts of our brains. It processes suggestions offered by System 1,
makes final decisions and chooses where to allocate our attention. The funny thing about how these
system work is that we assume a lot of the things we do are purely conscious decisions made by
System 2. In fact, almost everything we consciously decide on is based on automatic reactions and
suggestions fed to us by System 1.New research shows it takes one part of the brain to start
concentrating and another to be distracted. This discovery could help scientists develop better
treatments for attention deficit disorder.
This ability to willfully focus your attention is physically separate in the brain from distracting things

Brian And Alex s Influence On College Campuses
College campuses today are recognized as places with high crime rates, with crimes ranging from
sexual assault to theft to cheating. While many students may say they feel safe on campus, some

comes to their belongings. It is true that most perpetrators are fellow students, and they are only
successful because they know the routines of their fellow colleagues and know the best periods to

for a year. Brian s course schedule for that semester forces him to be on campus from eight thirty in

Flaws And Flaws Of Oedipus
It is fair to say that Oedipus had many flaws that would eventually allow him to go from being a great
king and savior of a city, to being a looked at very shamefully and ruining the city of Thebes. Oedipus
did some heroic things to get into certain positions throughout his life, but would ruin them all with
his cockiness, prowess, and over eccentric pride.
Oedipus did a very heroic feat, which was killing the sphinx outside the city of Thebes. This then
made the Thebians have major respect for him and elect him into being their king. Upon doing this
they looked at him as a respectable man who was very heroic and could take Thebes into the direction
they wanted to be heading. However, the Thebians didn t realize that he had a dark and dreaded past
that would come back to haunt him in the future.
One of Oedipus major flaws was how overconfident he was in himself. It is okay to be confident and
have basic confidence, but Oedipus would never take no for an answer and was overly confident and
cocky. Oedipus confidence led him to never believe that he as the one who was forming and shaping
his destiny to be the way that it was going to be. He saw nothing wrong with disrespecting the gods
and defiling their names. He also saw no problem in not believing Teiresias, the prophet, who sees all
and everything. He mocked Teiresias as well as tried to say he was trying to overthrow him and betray
him. Oedipus also didn t believe anyone and allowed his confidence to blind him also

Beyle And Abrar Attack Essay
The Act
The eighth of July of 2011, Abukar Osman Beyle and Shani Nurani Shiekh Abrar pleaded not guilty
with multiple life sentences of twenty six counts for the capture and murdering of four American
citizens. On the eighteenth of February of 2011, Beyle and Abrar were two of the nineteen pirates that
had boarded the Quest and held the citizens hostage just off the Somalian coast. Once their mission
was done the pirates attempted to flee back to Somalia, but found their escape impeded by the United
States Navy. Throughout the altercation with the U.S. Navy, three of the pirates (Beyle, Abrar and
another pirate) fired and killed the four Americans hostages. As a result, the Navy then secured the
boat and took the remaining pirates into custody and had them ... Show more content on

Beyle s reason for appeal is that the district court had insufficient jurisdiction over any charges with
relation to murder (Counts being 16, 17, 18, and 19) and as well as the consequent use of any firearms
(Counts being 22, 23, 24, and 25) due to the primary actions arising within Somalia s territorial waters
and not on high seas. Abrar s argument is that he was denied his Fifth Amendment and his Sixth
Amendment. He specifically stated that he was not given the access to any of his witnesses located
abroad that could help justify his statement of being kidnapped and involuntarily forced to work as a
pirate. To conclude, both Beyle and Abrar were given a fair trial. The court states that they did not
deny Abrar to the Fifth Amendment right nor was the Sixth Amendment he was able to disclose his
witness material in his defense. However, in Beyle s defense the locality of the murders, being thirty
to forty miles the Somalian coast, laying within the high seas and therefore being beyond the any
territorial sea of any nation.

How Does Cole Create An Epanaphora In This Song
Jermaine Cole is a successful American music artist famous for his complex and meaningful lyrics. J.
Cole writes many songs about the life of a man in the city or his early life in the inner city. In the song
Love Yourz J. Cole uses epanaphora, anecdotes, and rhetorical questions to create a mood and
message that stresses the insignificance of money. Love yourz is a fantastic song that makes you truly
appreciate life. J Cole uses epanaphora to repeat lines that accentuate the importance of happiness and
family over material objects. J Cole starts the song with an epanaphora. This repetition of an opening
phrase sets the tone and message for the song. In the first three lines J Cole repeats the line No such
thing , The second line states no such thing as a life that s better than yours. This specific sentence in
the song has an amazing message that is portrayed throughout the entire song. We will never find
happiness while chasing others lives. J. Cole does a fantastic job at displaying this message in his
song. There is no life better than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
J. Cole specifically uses this device to set the mood of the song and delivers the final reinforced
message that money is nothing without happiness. In line 24 Jermaine asks for what s money without
happiness. The message could not be brought across any more clear. He also asks in the next line or
hard times without the people you love. Money is nothing without happiness and J Cole uses these
rhetorical questions to emphasize this theme and message of the song. He makes all of his listeners not
only question the written line but their own lives. The intent of these questions could be to stir a
change in people s lives, to make the listeners really debate the quest of their lives. J Cole knows that
so many have been living life for money and not happiness or family. J Cole has a message of change
and gratitude, for what is money without

Why Russian Businesses Use Technologies
In the world of fierce business competition, technologies often become the principal source of
competitive advantage for firms. Technological innovations have already become the basic measure of
entrepreneurial growth and business success, but only firms that possess unique, inimitable technology
resources can successfully outperform their competitors. State and policy support is crucial for the
successful adoption of technologies by firms. The case of Russia is no exception. Russia possesses a
sophisticated scientific and technology base, but the rates of adoption of technologies in Russian
business remain formidably low. Only a broad government based innovation policy can help Russian
businesses to move forward and to become a part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Businesses in Russia operate in the atmosphere of economic instability and elevated legal risks, which
makes successful adoption of technologies virtually impossible. Although the rates of technology
adoption in Russian business are gradually increasing, the country is still an eternity away from
creating a perfect and profitable business technology synergy.
Russia and Russian businesses are characterized by the growing levels of technology adoption.
Russian businesses rapidly expand their innovative capabilities (Gurkov 299). The more optimistic
Russian CEOs feel about their business future, the higher the rates of technology adoption become
(Gurkov 300). Almost every third entrepreneur and CEO in Russia that enjoys a good or excellent
position in business reports intensive changes in their technological structures and infrastructures
(Gurkov 300). The fact that Russia possesses a sophisticated technology base facilitates the adoption
of technological innovations in Russian firms (Watkins 2). The professionalism of scientific and IT
personnel facilitates the rapid advancement of technologies in Russian business. Russia s technology
and innovation potential is much greater than that of other countries with similar

Technical Workstream Leader Essay
The Roll of a Technical Workstream Lead I have served our Country in the armed forces for more than
a dozen years and when I hear the term technical workstream leader, a Warrant Officer is the first
though that comes to my mind. The army warrant officer definition is a self aware and adaptive
technical expert, combat leader, trainer, and advisor (U.S. Army Human Resource Command, 2004).
The roll of the warrant officer in the military is being a technical expert, well versed in new
technologies, and able to integrate them in support military operations. Warrant officers are technical
workstream leaders and, for the last two years, I have been a warrant officer in the US Army. The roll
of technical workstream leaders is to close the gap between management and production by providing
technical advice, training, and integrate new technologies. Although the skills and characteristics of a

Invention is the result of a long study, research, and experimentation (Innovation, n.d.); Innovation is
the discovery and the execution of pioneering ideas that create value (Greco, 2011), in other words,
new application of known concepts. A practical example of invention is the alkaline battery that
provided a light weight, small, and portable power source; innovation applied this concept to anything
possible from communication devises, mecanich and construction tools, and even toys. Technical
workstream leaders understand that innovators are today s competitors reducing times, and
maximazing profits with new techniques; but inventors have the potential to reshape the landscape of

Rush is about my personal conflict with roller coasters. Throughout the poem I use plenty of imagery
to give the reader how it feels for me to get on a roller coaster. An example is when I say Tracks

sounds around me before i hop on the roller coaster. Another view point i set in was when i was

How Did The Plains Indians Impact On American Culture
The great plains also known as the american desert are a wide stretch of land in the centre of North
America. 35000 years ago, Indians first lived off the lands, they were The Plains Indians, people who
lived by themselves on the land until European settlement. Many things in the plains Indians lives
changed when the Europeans came, the most stand out changes were the introduction of guns, armour
and horse. This report will explain the impacts of contact on Indigenous people during European
settlement. The Indian population was constantly changing as tribes were continually moving in and
out of the area. Those who were permanent residents would live in villages of 9 to 90 huts made from
wood, mud and river weeds. This was due to villages being positions near rivers, lakes or niches, this
was because the niches were filled with large numbers of bison, otherwise known as buffalo. The

Essay about Josephine Baker
Josephine Baker
While Jim Crow laws were reeking havoc on the lives of African Americans in the South, a massed
exodus of Southern musicians, particularly from New Orleans, spread the seeds of Jazz as far north as
New York City. A new genre of music produced fissures in the walls of racial discrimination thought
to be impenetrable. Musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, King Oliver and Fletcher
Henderson performed to the first desegregated audiences. Duke Ellington starred in the first primetime
radio program to feature an African American artist. And a quirky little girl from Missouri conquered
an entire country enthralled by her dark skin, curvaceous body and dynamic personality. Josephine
Baker was more than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While still in elementary school, she began dancing part time in a local chorus line. She left home at
the age of 13; waiting tables most of the time and working on stage whenever possible. She joined a
group of street musicians who called themselves the Jones Family Band. The work with the Band paid
off when Baker acquired her first stage appearance at the Booker T. Washington Theater, St. Louis s
black vaudeville house. Also appearing was the all black dance troupe, the Dixie Steppers. The
manager of the Dixie Steppers took a liking to Baker and decided to make her part of the group. Since
he couldn t find anything for her to do onstage, she became a dresser, principally for the troupe s star,
Clara Baker. # By 1920, she was married, divorced and married again the second time to Willie Baker,
a Pullman porter, from whom Baker took the name she used on stage. In April 1921, while the Dixie
Steppers were touring in Philadelphia, one of the chorus girls hurt herself. For nearly a year, Ms.
Baker had been studying the choreography of the show and practicing the steps behind the scenes.
Another dancer was aware of Baker s abilities and suggested she fill in for the injured chorus girl. Ms.
Baker took her place in the chorus line. Because she was much more lively and animated, she stood
out from the rest of the ladies, which, obviously, is not the point of a chorus line. When the

Rocky Horror Picture Show Imagery
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a musical that takes place in the early 70 s, where Brad Majors and
Janet Weiss are on their way to visit an old professor Dr. Everett V. Scott. On their way, there they
experience some mechanical issues. This causes the two of them to wonder back to a castle they saw
in order to get some assistance. Little did they know they would be getting all the help they needed.
They didn t know there was a celebration happening at the Frank N Furter place. When they arrived,
they were surprised with what was going on for it was abnormal to them. In this analytical Essay I,
will be explaining the hidden imagery behind things in the motion picture. Throughout this film the
use imagery to show how gender roles come into play. In the beginning of the movie they are at the
end of a wedding. Everyone is outside and watching the bride and groom as they are about to leave.

wallflower. In the end of the movie all of the characters find out who they really are I feel like that is
something that happens in both stories. In the Perks of Being a Wallflower they find themselves then
part their separate ways. Sam and Patrick go to college leaving Charlie behind. In the rocky horror
picture show Frank and his friends help Brad and Janet find themselves then they return to

The Problem Of Low Back Pain
Low back pain is one of the major causes for not only days lost at work, but also the early exit from
the field of nursing. This can potentially be a major concern to address as policymakers and healthcare
experts look to solve the nursing shortage problem. Project Back to Back is one initiative aimed at
addressing this issue. It seeks to reduce the prevalence of low back pain experienced by nurses by
introducing continual training in proper patient handling and Dru yoga classes to nurses working in
the hospital facilities that are a part of the Mount Sinai Hospital System.
In the United States, low back pain is singled out as the most common reason for time lost at work
after the common cold, the third most common condition leading to surgical procedures, and the fifth
most common reason for hospital visits (United States Department of Health and Human Services
(HHS), Healthy People 2020, n.d.). Reports show that musculoskeletal disorders account for
approximately$240 billion in the United States annual healthcare expenditure, with over $100 billion
going to treat low back pain alone (Crow Willis, 2009). Low back pain, according to Manek and
MacGregor (2005), is defined as pain, muscle tension, or stiffness localized below the costal margin
and above the inferior gluteal folds, with or without leg pain (sciatica) (p. 134). It can be classified as
either specific or nonspecific, but the majority of the cases, approximately 90%, are nonspecific as

Crave Horror Movies
Blood, murder, bloody murder... scream, don t we all crave the feeling of seeing other people get
killed? That is one of the reasons why we enjoy the horror genre. Some may think that horror films are
horrifying, but people still watch them because we like the emotional release that it provides,
satisfying the cravings that we have for it. In Stephen King s essay, Why We Crave Horror Movies, he
claims that people crave the adrenaline rush that horror gives us. He believes that humans need the
relief that horror films bring. No one can live without having some hysterical fear because that is part
of the human nature. While many may believe that horror films are terrifying and unpleasant, King s
ideas are accurate because the human condition seeks the negative emotions that horror provides.
People like to have fun so they watch horror movies because it gives them an unforgettable adrenaline
rush. We go to have fun (King, 1). As a part of the human experience, the feeling of being scared is in
everyone. Watching horror films is just another way of excitement and having fun. I agree with King
when he writes, If pro football has become the voyeur s version of combat, then the horror film has
become the modern version of the public lynching (2). This shows that seeing people get hurt is an
attention grabber and is enjoyable. People like the idea of horror because of the excitement that it
provides and it gives people the sense of wanting to watch it even more.

Clinical Companionship Research Paper
The age of renaissance is gone and the Renaissance man is dead. This is the age of the man with
specialties and subspecialties. A few centuries ago, the ideal man of science was the one who knew a
little bit of each and every field. He would know medicine, arts, physics, mathematics, biology,
chemistry, etc. That man cannot survive now because the depth of knowledge has grown exponentially
over the past few decades. Any one, perhaps, now knows more than the leading scientists of that time.

myself drawn to internal medicine, emergency medicine, neurology, anesthesiology and radiology

Grendel As An Outcast In Beowulf
Beowulf, an old English epic, helps the reader visualize how the Anglo Saxon culture was. This epic
uses many different types of literary archetypes from the Anglo Saxon literature. Beowulf is about a
young prince making a journey to Denmark to help Hrothgar, the king of the Danes. The author of the
English epic Beowulf, shows how Grendel is such an outcast, Beowulf s battles between good and
evil, and how heroic he was throughout his life.
Grendel is an outcast in the land of the Danes, which prompts his attacks on Herot Hall. Grendel, a
powerful monster (Beowulf l. 1), was the biggest outcast in the land of the Danes. He felt left out
because the warriors would always party and have a good time at Herot Hall without him. Herot Hall
was a building built by Hrothgar for his warriors to have a relaxing place to unwind after a long day of
work. Grendel wanted to have a good time like the warriors did at the hall, but could not because the
warriors would try to kill him. He got fed up with being the outcast of the town and decided that once
night fell, he would terrorize Herot Hall. As he approached the doors of the hall his thoughts became
as quick as his greed or claws (Beowulf l. 35). He opens the door snatching thirty warriors in his
hands as they sleep instantly killing them. As he takes them back to his lair the blood from their bodies
leave a trail behind him. Hrothgar is devastated when he found out that Grendel had taken the lives of
his friends. After this

  • 2. The Cold War Era During World War II The Cold War Era that followed the end of World War II was unlike any Americans had seen before. After defeating Germany and its allies in the war, the United States faced a change on the home front: young Americans rushed into marriage and parenthood in unprecedented numbers. In Homeward Bound: American Families in the Cold War Era, Elaine Tyler May describes these changes from the end of the war through the early 1960s. The author makes a compelling range of arguments about the changes that affected Americans during this period. Mainly, May argues that the domestic containment that arose after World War II promoted the new dynamic of a suburban lifestyle, in part because of the increasing fright of looming communism during the Cold War Era. May coins the term domestic containment as the center of her argument in her book Homeward Bound. Domestic containment refers to the happy American suburban lifestyle home that was reinforced by popular culture because of the scare of communism. All of May s other arguments in the book hinge on her larger focus on domestic containment being Americans overriding ideology during the early Cold War. May states, The self contained home held out the promise of security in insecure world. It also offered a vision of abundance and fulfillment. As the cold war began, young postwar Americans were homeward bound. It had become evident to Americans that the world outside the natural boundaries of the country was unstable. The ... • 3. My Long Term and Short Term Goals Professional and Personal Goals December 12, 2011 Someone famous once wrote, A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. That s deep! But, in a way, it s obvious and should go without saying. However, so many people try to just jump the whole thousand miles at once and seem to forget that careful steps and rest stops must be made along the way to successfully (the main word is successfully ) complete that journey. I ve had my goals and aspirations for a long time but I m not sure that I ever started out in the most organized fashion. My professional goals remain the same but I now realize that effective time management is the main way to achieve my goals in a less stressful manner. I understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My original plan was to pursue my Bachelor s Degree after my sons graduated college, since I support them financially, but when I realized that most of the hospitals require nurses to have a bachelor s degree, I decided that the sooner I start working towards my professional long term goal, the better. It goes without saying that the two most important milestones to achieving this goal will be my sons individual graduation days. My personal long term goal is to go back to my country of Haiti and offer my assistance to those who have experienced and still experience the hardships and tragedies which the country has undergone. When I left home and came to the United States, I came with a high school diploma but could speak no English. As a single mother, I raised my four sons, worked, and went to school. With the help of scholarships and financial aid, I obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. I want to pay it forward , as they say, and give back to my country so that others could receive the same opportunity as I did. This long term personal goal will be greatly influenced by finances. Therefore, one of the milestones to achieving this goal is tied into my professional goals (both long and short term). I will need to acquire one of those more stable positions at one of the area hospitals and I will have to be working there for at least a few years before I would feel comfortable enough to ask for time to return to my country to assist. This is where a timeline ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Enveloped Virus Research Paper Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites; their lack of biochemical machinery makes them dependent on the host cell for replication.5,8 The viral replication process involves assembly individual components into viral progeny. Viruses consist of a DNA or RNA genome that is packaged into a protective protein capsid shell; additionally, some viruses are surrounded by an outer, membranous envelope.2,5,8 Viral genomes are used to express viral proteins.5 However, because these viral genomes do not encode for the machinery necessary to carry out protein synthesis, viral genomes must be copied into mRNA that can be read by host ribosomes.5,7,8 There are seven major types of viral genomes that are classified by the Baltimore system. 5 All viruses ... • 5. Witch Craft Trials Research Paper There has been a plethora of research conducted that supports the notion that witch craft trials occurred in Scotland primarily during the 16th and 17th centuries in England and Scotland and had an impact on the way people chose to live their lives during this time period. Witches were seen as people who had turned their backs on God and Christianity and entered a pact with the Devil. Due to this belief, people were quick to prosecute potentially witches to keep the community safe. Furthermore, there were many different elements of life that had an impact on witch craft trials and their outcomes, such as the state/national government, local officials and arguably most importantly, the church. Specifically during the Civil War we saw an increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to be tried as a witch, someone who believed themselves to be victimized would come forward to the authorities. However, before a witch received a formal trial by a criminal court she was generally identified by a kirk session. Being involved in the first stage of witchcraft trials allowed the church to help identify witches and begin the interrogation process. In order for an individual to be tried by a criminal court the church had to seek the approval of the Privy council. Cases with an abundance of evidence were more likely to have a trial this is still the case today in court cases. If the court believes there is a high success rate that the accused will be convicted they are more inclined to bring the issue to court. In addition, the best piece of evidence in the 17th century and today is a confession. Unfortunately during witchcraft trials confessions were frequently acquired by illegitimate and morally reprehensible ways. As stated by Goodare ... • 6. Lab On A Chip Lab Report Introduction The research is specifically carried out on Particle Sorting using the interplay between the Travelling Surface Acoustic Wave and the Stationary Surface Acoustic Wave. Sorting individual cells/particles of interest from a heterogeneous population has been of critical importance in biological studies and clinical applications, such as single cell sequencing, rare cell isolation, and drug screening. The introduction of lab on a chip (i.e., small sized analytical devices) has spurred steadily increasing interest and research efforts in the microfluidics discipline (upon which lab on a chip devices are based). The promise of such lab on a chip devices is grounded in the advantages of microfluidics relative to traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation of particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a substrate, separation has been shown using acoustic streaming in droplets, in an open chamber and in a channel. Description of Research Methodology In this research we will examine the use of acoustic radiation forces alone for particle separation in a system, and demonstrate that the controllability of this type of acoustic force allows highly specific separation. SAW is generated by a spatially periodic electrical field to create a resonant condition on a piezoelectric substrate. Further, in TSAW a wave travels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter propagating wave. We will utilise both TSAW and SSAW; the former acts to push the particles across the chamber, the latter to capture particles in bands of minimum force potential. The system will consist of a microfluidic chamber, cast in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and bonded onto a lithium niobate, LiNbO3 (LN) piezoelectric substrate. The device will be held under a microscope using a frame. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The kingdom for a tarantula is called animalia because a tarantula is a heterotrophic that motile during one stage life. Phylum of a tarantula is arthropoda because it has jointed appendages, a chitinous exoskeleton, and a segmented body. The class that the tarantula belongs to is arachnida which also belongs to the subphylum chelicerata. Tarantula has eight legs and 2 more appendages that are used for sensory adaptations, feeding, and able to move. A tarantulaś hair and spine are very sensitive and are used to sense chemical signatures, vibrations, wind direction, and possibly sound. Tarantula has eyes that are small and are usually set in two rows of four and are not able to see much more than light, darkness, and motion. Male tarantulas are bright in color, smaller in size, and are more active than females. Females tend to be plumper and more relax. It is usually impossible to tell male from female in juvenile spiders. In adults you need to look right after a molt. At that time, a male will exhibit a structure called the pal pal bulb on the underside of the front leg like structure called the pedipalp. He then uses his pedipalps to deposit sperm into female´s reproductive organs on the underside of her abdomen Male tarantulas are smaller than females, making copulation dangerous for them. Reproduction of a tarantula is very complicated. Summer and fall are the usual time for tarantulas to mate. The male tarantula searches for a female late at night and in the evening. As the males travel over a great distance at times, humans who see them sometimes assume they are migrating. Actually this is simply part of the mating process of tarantulas. Bhutan s Gross National Happiness Bhutan s gross national happiness If you don t know about Bhutan s government and their focus over the past forty years than you should, you and people in your community might want to take a closer look at this small country and how it is impacting the world. Bhutan is a small country located in the himalayas between China and India and is one of the happiest countries in the world because the government has focused on following the four pillars of happiness. Each pillar supports and helps to provide the right environment for happiness, these pillars are compatible living conditions, religion, maintaining the environment, and reliable government support. Bhutan s government has decided to take this radical approach, helping its citizens by trying to improve the nation s gross national happiness. Bhutan has stayed relatively poor in wealth but rich in culture and happiness. Only recently has Bhutan started building cities and roads but the country is careful not to jump into an industrial revolution like many countries already have. • 9. Corn Vs Corn Although cows evolved to survive on grass, farmers are now feeding them corn for rapid growth to benefit the U.S. Economy. After six months, calves are weaned off grass, put into pens, and forced to eat corn. While this does not make sense from an environmental, health, or humane treatment of animal s viewpoint, economically it does, as a corn enriched diet enables cows to reach slaughter weight faster and produce more to meet demands. Corn is a cheap commodity to purchase compared to the farmer s cost to produce. The industrial farmer relies on the large volume and low purchase price of corn to help shorten a cow s lifespan and provide food more rapidly to the American population. Grass fed cows take longer to reach their ideal weight for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The introduction of chemical fertilizers and other technological inputs created a surplus of corn on American farmland. In the early 1900 s farmers were only able to grow small bushels of corn but today there is an excess amount. Although such an overabundance represented a great achievement in American agriculture, the excess corn needed some use and one way to reduce overage is to feed it to farm animals; especially cows. Corn does not require a lot of space to store and it is extremely easy to collectively feed a considerable number of cows. Feeding cows low priced corn as required by the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation s CAFO is economically efficient and enables the production of large quantities of marbled meat that was once a luxury for many Americans. However, even though feeding corn to cattle helps in the process of fattening cows for slaughter, it also produces many health risks that the United States Department of Agriculture USDA overlooks in their effort to help eliminate the corn surplus, and bring rapid profit to the few corporations that run the meat ... • 10. School Uniforms Policy Analysis Local school districts, the state, individual schools, and the state have mutual interest embedded into the decision of adopting a uniform policy. As a result, school uniforms can be mandatory in some schools while in others remain voluntary. The wearing of a school uniform implies that all students in the school are required to wear clothing that matches in color, length, and design. There have been arguments put across against the wearing of uniforms in schools. The primary argument against implementation of school uniforms policy is that it is an infringement of the first amendment Rights of the USA constitution (DeMitchell Fossey, 2015). The breach comes about when students are not able to express their personality through the dressing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peer pressure is human nature that has limited control. Both the advertising and the fashion industries, along with the other instruments of the media in our way of life, impacts to the peer pressure we go through (Roman Taylor, 2013). The students do feel not only the pressure to conform but also the parents and the teachers in general. Students are under the pressure to wear the so called fresh outfits so that they can ultimately fit in with their peers. Making a fashion statement is the medium to be accepted and liked amongst an individual s peers (Sanchez et al., 2012). As a result, students impact the pressure to their parents in their efforts to have cool clothes that will enable them to fit in with their peers. Parents thus find themselves in a situation of purchasing attires that meet the peer s requirement despite the fact that they are also subject to go out of style. School uniforms will thus give students and parents another useful weapon in their war against social pressures and thus enable students to lay less prominence on trendy clothes and more emphasis on affecting their education. For some students, more so girls, uniforms will give them more time to sleep or do something constructive in the morning rather than deciding what trendy outfit to wear (Sanchez et al., 2012). It is conclusive that uniforms promote a relevant law that people should be judged by their character and not their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Students Disrespectful In Schools Why are students disrespectful in schools? There is no specific factor for disrespectful students in schools. Students are mocking teachers. You re a terrible teacher! No one cares about school. Teachers are humiliating students in front of their peers. Consistently criticizing students for their lack of enthusiasm, laziness, insubordination, and ungratefulness. Students fight amongst themselves, compete against one another in an effort to achieve high marks even if it means cheating on assignments and assessments. Unfortunately, this epidemic of disrespect needs to be acknowledged. Why? Because the rapid changes we have witnessed in our schools in the 21st Century has become a troubling phenomenon. As teachers, we are to provide a safe and positive learning environment conducive to learning. We have a simple job and that is to teach students material and to make sure they understand it. Unfortunately, we have those students who make our lives difficult. They have complete disrespect for their teachers as well as their peers because they are disrupting the classroom affecting the learning abilities of those students who want to be there. Most students lean toward this type of behavior when teachers are trying to discipline them. We enforce discipline because it is our job to make sure the learning environment stays focused. Other students don t want to hear their classmates disrupting the lesson by talking back to teachers or arguing with their peers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. What Are the Strengths and Weaknesses of the Policy Making... The policy making process in CA plays an instrumental role in the prosperity and quality of life that exist today, and will exist in the future for CA. Public policy can be defined as a public response to public problems. It s what the government says and does about these problems. Policy is when government and nongovernmental agents work together to create solutions for the public at large. The policy actors are formal, as well as informal; they are individuals or groups, which bring about the influence needed to implement public solutions. There are numerous issues within CA that are increasing the strain placed on the policy making process. The biggest challenge CA faces in the next few decades is meeting the needs of a growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to create the best political strategy, there is no question that you must have the ability to raise a lot of funds. The CA constitution says that governmental authority is to be shared with the voters. They should have the ability to voice their opinions through the initiative process, the recall, and the referendum. However, the input of the people in CA is muffled by the glass ceiling we the minorities face. You might be wondering how we are the minority. We are the minority in CA because we don t have the money to represent ourselves, and so we are left out in the cold. This is a problem because we are the individuals in society that have the first hand experience, and the knowledge needed to educate our political actors on the areas within society that need to be addressed for changes. • 13. The Public Schooling System Is Not The Same Since The public schooling system is not the same since they have been dwindling down the right for religion to be in schools. Religion needs to be put back into the school system so then maybe people will be more informed on things out in the real world. I am not saying that it needs to be a required course, however, give students the opportunity to learn about it. Among just making it a course in itself one course it could be reintroduced to is the science class. They talk about evolution but yet they do not teach about creationism. In history classes they can reintroduce religion because important religious facts (like Martin Luther King Jr. being a black priest) have been taken out of school text books so people do not get offended. When I say religion needs to be put back in the schooling system I mean most religions that are in the world today and not just Christianity. Students would do a lot better in school if there was some sort of religious class being taught. I understand that schools cannot teach just any one religion legally because people in today s world are taking the first amendment to seriously. However, if they could, they might see a lot of students excelling in school. This includes all students, because they are learning more about their beliefs and if they want, other beliefs as well as learning better how to cope with today s society. The obvious breakdown in Salem s social order led to the tragedy in which twenty innocent people were hanged on the accusation of witchcraft. At many points throughout the play there were opportunities to stop the witch trials; however, one character in particular prevented the crease in convictions. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Deputy Governor Danforth is responsible for the tragedy in Salem. One of many reasons the witch trials were able to continue was because of Judge Danforth s ignorance towards what was actually going on in Salem. When Francis Nurse and John Proctor try to explain to him the girls are deceiving him, he over rules their ideas by challenging And do you know that near to four hundred are in the jails from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my signature? (Miller 179). Danforth is proud to say that he has put people in jail, put people to death for witchcraft because his ignorance blocks him from seeing the evidence he is presented with is false. As well as being exposed to false evidence, Judge Danforth also makes the claim that witchcraft cannot be disproved; therefore the court has to rely solely on the girl s accusations. President Clinton lied under oath. Perhaps that is not perjury, but an army officer could not do that. Nor could army personnel have extramarital affairs. Kelly Flynn found that out when she lost her position in the Air Force and years of pilot training went down the drain. But for the Commander in Chief, it is another story. Thus, just because Clinton admitted to doing the misdeeds, he cannot be criticized by military members. In other words, one cannot accurately talk about President Clinton without getting into serious trouble. The military may seem unnecessarily restrictive or antiquated but there is a reason for the mandate. Officers must respect their superiors. It is simple as that. The reasoning behind that is that routines and orders must be obeyed. After all, soldiers are being trained and must be ready to go into combat at any time. The reason that the personnel cannot criticize their leader should be obvious. If a war or conflict were to break out, it would significantly affect performance as well as the world s perception about the United States. Thus, no matter how one feels, there must be respect given to every single officer all the way up the line to the commander in chief. The fact that Clinton himself has not been in compliance is immaterial. While he is the Commander in Chief he is still considered to be a civilian. While it is important to give the president respect, respect to Military Superior Commanding Officers and Non Commission Officers is perhaps even more pertinent. Oedipus did a very heroic feat, which was killing the sphinx outside the city of Thebes. This then made the Thebians have major respect for him and elect him into being their king. Upon doing this they looked at him as a respectable man who was very heroic and could take Thebes into the direction they wanted to be heading.
