three seasons of summer, spring, autumn and winter, on the transpiration rate of mangrove shoots.

Chapter sixteen of Toni Morrison s novel, Beloved, is told from the perspective of the four horsemen:
the schoolteacher, schoolteacher s son, sheriff, and slave catcher. These four horsemen symbolize the
four horsemen of the apocalypse from the Bible, exemplifying the horrors of slavery and how this
episode is the only time the novel is told from a white person s perspective. When the four horsemen
arrive at the shed, they see Sethe holding a blood soaked child to her chest and Denver, an infant, by
the heels. The schoolteacher believes that Sethe had gone wild since his nephew had overbeat her
(149). Sethe will never be the same person as she was before: she has transformed into an over beaten
hound after the schoolteacher s nephew sucked the milk from her breast. Although Sethe s love for her
children is what drove her to kill her child, what the schoolteacher sees is chaos; Sethe was not suited

The African Americans were rejected basic rights throughout history. Some of the major rights that
they were denied were education and transportation. Many blacks were faced with hardships and
terror throughout their lifetime that we now take for granted in our everyday lives. These simple rights
that they were denied will make you realized how much the world has changed over the past decades.
Education was one of the major rights African Americans were denied throughout history. Linda
Brown and many other African Americans were denied the right to attend any all white schools near
their houses. Instead of attending a school near their houses, they were forced to travel extreme
distances to attend elementary school. While if you were a white child you were granted the right to
travel a small distance to receive schooling. To resolve this problem Linda and her father went to the
supreme court to sue Kansas for having a segregated school system. The NAACP stepped in and ruled
that having segregated schools rejected blacks the right to have equal protection ,which is in the 14th
amendment. The NAACP also argued that the African American children felt as if they were not good
enough or at the same level as others to attend school with the white children. The Supreme Court
decided to rule in favor of the Browns and declared it illegal to have segregation in public schools.
