Vietnam War Research Paper: During the 30 years of XX century Vietnam was at war. It all started in
the 1940′s, when the Communists fought against French colonial rule, and was completed in 1975
with the fall of Saigon. The period, which the Vietnamese know as the American War and the
Americans call the Vietnam War , lasted from 1965 to 1973, during the time of the U.S. intervention.
The communist leader Ho Chi Minh led his forces based in the north and defeated the French in 1954.

The Anzacs And The Development Of Nationalism In Australia...
The ANZACs were a significant influence in the development of nationalism in Australia during
World War One (WWI). Throughout WWI, Australian formed the fundamentals of the now universally
recognised Australian identity. The ANZACs played a crucial role in the establishment of a mixture of
both cultural and triumphal nationalism as Australia s exposure to other cultures during WWI saw
them no longer recognised as an extension of Britain but an independent group of competent men and
women that could equal their Commonwealth forefathers in the war effort. Thus, forming a distinct
identity and sense of nationalism that s significance, decades after WWI, remained strongly associated
with the WWI ANZACs.
Nationalism is seen to have two origins. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem On the landing of Our Troops at Gallipoli by Joan Torrace, composed after the end WWI,
demonstrated a sense of nationalism when reflecting upon Australia equalling its forefather in the war
effort: Australia! ... all nations hail thee now . The poem depicts the British and Australia flags both of
equal size and focus. The poem states: hoist the ... union Jack ... and let the Southern Flag wave gaily
side by side. This poem show the authors connection between the events of WWI and seeing Australia
as an equivalent individual to Britain supporting the impact on WWI on Australia s nationalism. A
photograph depicts the Queen among her family commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Gallipoli
landing in the ANZAC parade demonstrating the British leaders respect for Australia fuelled by the
devotion of ANZACs in WWI. Finally, nationalism is still minutely evident in modern society on
cultural outlets. The popular song, We Didn t Start The Fire by Billy Joel devotes a sizeable proportion
of lyrics to American achievements, successful sportsmen, political leaders and references to mores
negative events of other countries. For example the song mentions America s first women in space:
sally ride, the American discovery of the polio vaccine and the violent and devastating separation of
north and South Korea.

you. That s when things started to change up a bit. All the bad things running through my mind made
me start to panick. My friends started to worry so they tried their best to keep me calm until I left
school. Finally school was over.
As I was picked up the bad thoughts started to run through my head again, this time it seem like it was
worse. The closer we got to the hospital the more I became weak. I didn t know what to expect to be

going on. So I sat there patiently with my family, we all waited with anticipation for the doctor to

Rogers seems therefore to be describing an emotional consequence resulting from what the
behaviourist BF Skinner called positive and negative conditioning. He conceptualised Conditions of
Worth as the limited ways in which a person could see him or herself as being valued. The formulation
was also influenced by psychoanalyst Erik Erikson and his ideas of the early stages of development.
Rogers asserted that the child who learns trust and a sense of personal control are more likely to have
a sense of self agency and robustness in the face of later difficulties. This comes about when conflicts
find a successful resolution leaving both parties emotionally respected and intact. Thus Rogers more
developed model of how a child is socially instructed can encompass concepts such as shame
(Psychoanalysis), Modelling (Albert Bandura) and ideas of Internalization, amongst many others, and
as such is more of a meta model of growth of the personality.
In James case he knew that if he worked hard at school he could gain his fathers approval. However it

Analysis of Joy Williams Save the Whales, Screw the Shrimp
Save the Whales, Screw the Shrimp is an essay written by Joy Williams, about the overwhelming
complacency that todays culture shows towards nature.Williams argues in a very satirical way, that
todays culture has all but completely lost touch with what nature really is, and that unless we as a
nation change our morals regarding the role that nature plays in human existence, we may very well
be witnessing the dawn of our own destruction.

Although many would agree that Williams has a very good point, her writing style belies conflict even
in her own views. For instance, she attempts to use her satire as a way of shocking the reader into
feeling her personal pain regarding the issue. However, if she truly felt as strongly as she would lead
one to believe, then it stands to reason that she would much rather have written an essay which
touched personal points in the lives of those who are percived to be the overindulgent, complacent,
and disrespectful citizens of our decadent culture. In this way she may have accomplished what she set
out to do in the beginning with this essay, which was to convince the target culture they need to
change their ways before it?s too late.
The overwhelming feeling througout the entire essay is that, ?This lady is on a rant?, and it is apparent
in the closing paragraphs of the essay that this was her intention, but the essay ends there, and seems
to come up short of a punchline. While most self proclaimed environmentalists would say that
Williams did a wonderful job jabbing our glutenous culture where it hurts, those of a more dedicated
banter would wonder just how much of a bite does this author take during her turn at the plate. It
would seem that she places herself outside of this realm of over utilization to the point where one can
only imagine her standing in a loin cloth eating bannanas all day. Take her affront on the

Market Transparency and Consumer Choice for Housing Essay
Since 2006, the number of foreclosures in the housing market has sparked dramatically. This is due to
the fact that banks have given out subprime mortgages or interest only loans to consumers regardless
of their credit score. One of the main reasons why banks did not care about consumers credit history is
because they resold the loans as mortgage backed securities. This caused the loans to fall into the
hands of credit rating companies that rated the loans too positive; thus, these assets were expanded and
helped lead to the foreclosure crisis without hurting the banks directly. The goal was that banks lustily
sought the big payoff that these mortgages could provide. The mortgages and loans let low income
consumers pay only a low rate of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So far, as a result, foreclosures are decreasing and the mortgages are becoming more affordable, but
job creation and transparency in the market has not occurred, so the crisis continues.
Fortunately, job creation is projected to increase by this spring due to the passing of the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act dubbed the economic stimulus to pull us out of the recession and
create jobs; therefore, new job growth will help citizens pay their mortgages and lower foreclosure
even more. Despite all of these laws, there still remains one vital part to ensure the stability of our
financial system: transparency. Congress has proposed a financial overhaul bill that would enforce
new rules and regulation to the industry, but the downfall of it is that it would hinder needed economic
growth in a time of feeble recovery. So I propose creating an internet portal administered by the
Department of Housing and Urban Development. The government would then require banks to put the
address on the top of every loan application to ensure consumer awareness of the address. The portal
or website would allow consumers to create a profile and input a basic credit history. The employees
at the Department of Housing and Urban Development would then perform calculations about the type
of loan, the ability to refinance and buy a home, the risk factor for different types of loans, the
outcome of the housing market in the future, and a background check on every bank in

Character Analysis of the Elder Mrs. Winning of Flower Garden
The oppression of tyranny breeds either rebellion or its counterpart, conformity, as was the case for
the character Helen Winning in the story Flower Garden by Shirley Jackson. The static, intrinsic traits
of the Elder Mrs. Winning, which are influential to the outcome of the story, are developed in detail by
Jackson s use of description and dramatic scenes. The elder Mrs. Winning is characterized as a woman
with an authoritative, domineering personality who is unyielding in her convictions.

Winning s superiority. When Howard, the son of the elder Mrs. Winning , enters the house as he
[comes] in from the barn , he simply acknowledges his wife, the younger Mrs. Winning, with a nod ;
in contrast, he more affectionately [kisses] his mother (496). By including this detail about the distinct
ways the two women are treated by Howard Winning in her description, Jackson illustrates the
premiership the elder Mrs. Winning occupies in her household. Moreover, Jackson describes how
Helen Winning [tried] to anticipate her mother in law s gesture of serving (496) which indicates
further the preponderant and overruling qualities of the elder Mrs. Winning.
The elder Mrs. Winning is a nightmarishly overbearing mother in law. The opening paragraph is a
base for understanding the forcibleness of the elder Mrs. Winning s character. Jackson recounts that,
After living . . . together . . . the two . . . had grown to look a good deal alike, as two women will who
live intimately together, and get things done around the house in the same manner (490). By providing
this description Jackson discloses the profound extent of the influence that the elder Mrs. Winning has
had on the identity of her daughter in law. The elder Mrs. Winning is so overpowering that Helen has
methodically adopted her lifestyle and has even gained her looks. The high handedness of the elder
Mrs. Winning is first made evident when Jackson describes that the younger Mrs. Winning has invited

Analyze the rationale and purpose of the exclusionary rule
The exclusionary rule is not in the Constitution because it was made by the court due to the need that
presented itself. The intension was to ensure that the 4th Amendment is kept and not violated. Most
people are aware of their right to privacy, and how it protects them from unwarranted searches.
Nevertheless, most them do not comprehend how the Exclusionary Rule which ensures this right is

amendment right protects every citizen from illegal searches and arrests. When the police violates this
4 amendment right, the evidence they have collected will be avoided in the federal court.

Secondly, Inevitable Discovery Doctrine. With this exception, two modes of seizing evidence are
considered but only one is physical. Illegal means are used in the securing of the evidence physically.
The other seizure of evidence is hypothetical and is seized illegally.
Good Faith is the last exception. In this case, the magistrate issues a seizure warrant for acquiring
evidence. However, this may not be in sync with the role of the exclusionary rule in deterring the
police from any misconduct and also the evidence suppression may not occur. The limitation of this
exception is that, if the defense can convince the judge that the officer was reckless in seizing the
evidence, then the good faith will be nullified.
Cost and benefits of the exclusionary rule
There is a public and governmental cost that is imposed by the exclusionary rule on the public when it
frees the guilty and sidetracks the court on its mandate to obtain the truth. The fabric of the law is also
tainted. There are professional costs also incurred by individuals within the system of criminal justice.
The rigidity of the law causes the concerned parties like the police, magistrates and lawyers to allow
double standards in order to proceed with a case. In an effort to conclude a case, they ignore certain
violations of this draconian rule so as to allow the use of evidence. When the exclusionary rule is

Yarra River Toxins
The Yarra River has been around since 1835 and is still around today, in the heart of Melbourne.
Although, there has been a significant build up of toxic from the CSIRO uranium processing near the
Yarra River ( from 1940s to 1960s) and a 40+ year history of contamination of the site at 506 Lorimer
St. Over the years the Yarra had built up a decent amount of chemicals and toxins. The 2009 dredging
project was removing and dumping the toxic sediment from the Yarra into the bays dumpsites. This
evidently decreased the quality of the water and affects the marine life and their habitats, our beaches
and us and people who swim in this now contaminated water. There is now high levels of toxins in
local fish, eels and mussels. In January 2017, 36 beaches were deemed unsafe to swim in due to high
levels of faecel pollution. This shows how much the water quality is demeaning over time due to
humans and global warming. Source:

Tattoos Have Been Popular Throughout Time All Over The...
Tattoos have been popular throughout time all over the world. Yet, rumors have it that tattoos are a
modern day trend that originated in prison. Tattooing actually dates back to five thousand years ago.
They have not just become some new pop culture fad. Prehistoric clans, ancient Egyptians, Native
Americans, sailors, circus people, royalty, celebrities, and plenty of young adults today have all
participated in some form of body art. Tattooing has played a significant role in mythologies and
customs in ancient cultures. In American, tattoos were introduced by sailors returning from
expeditions in Europe during the late seventeen hundreds and the early eighteen hundreds. Tattoos
became trendy in America through said sailors and bikers, which showed they had a look of respect
and dignity within their groups.
The earliest recording of tattoos was found on the frozen remains of an ancestor to Northern
Europeans from around Thirty Five Thousand B.C to about Two Thousand Three Hundred B.C. The
remains had small markings on it s lower back, ankles, and one of it s feet, made by rubbing charcoal
into cuts. A series of x rays revealed a joint disease where each of the tattoos were located, which has
led researchers to believe that the early Europeans used this as a medical treatment to reduce pain. The
Egyptian figures from around the time Two Thousand B.C show female dancers displayed with dot
and dash tattoos on their bodies to represent Bes, also known as the god of fertility

Nighthawks Communication Analysis
The value of communication allows one to notice things apart from one another. When emphasizing
something one draws attention to it, this emphasis is a principle in art. Another principle similar to
emphasis is focal point, which highlights certain part of an artwork. Subordination draws this attention
away, these principles: emphasis, focal point, and subordination define an artwork s design and its
artist sentiment. Artist, Edward Hopper, and his painting Nighthawks, support the increment of these
principles within the painting. The utilization of emphasis, focal point, and subordination create a
fascination to the eye to define the artwork and its significance. In the painting Nighthawks, the area

Analysis Of The Movie Trudy Chacon
TRUDY CHACON
Trudy Chacon, portray by Michelle Rodrigues, was a confident SecOps pilot for the RDA. Her
primary task was to pilot a Samson that was used for transportation and for battle. She lived in
Pandora when she first appeared in the movie and had already been serving for the RDA two years
when she met Jake Sulley. Shortly after she met Jake she was thrust into leadership role in the take
down of the RDA. Trudy also flew the trio to a temporary science station in the Hallelujah Mountains,
known as Site 26, when Dr. Augustine wanted to continue her research away from Hell s Gate and
military personnel (wikia.com).
Trudy met Jake Sully soon after he arrived at Hell s Gate in 2154. One day the two along with Norm
Spellman and Dr. Grace Augustine went on an expedition deep into a Pandoran forest. Trudy stayed
behind with Lyle Wainfleet to guard the Samson. During the expedition Jake went missing and she
helped search for him. As it became night Colonel Quaritch saw that it was too dangerous for Jake s
avatar and called off the search She joined Jake Sulley, Na ve and the Omaticaya clan.
When the RDA attacked the Hometree, Trudy refused to join in the assault and broke out of combat
formation to return to base just after the first salvo. Disillusioned, after refusing to fire on Hometree

Prenatal Human Development
The creation of a human being is a miraculous process. When many people hear human development,
they tend to think about infancy or adolescent years when kids go through puberty, but the most
amazing developmental processes take place in the prenatal stage. The amount of growth and change
that occurs during the nine month gestational period is almost incomprehensible. Prenatal
development is broken down into three stages, the Germinal stage, the Embryonic Stage, and the Fetal
stage. This paper will mainly focus on the embryonic stage because there is a vast amount of crucial
development that happens during this period. The embryonic stage is also exciting because it is during
this stage that the mass of cells that are supposed to be a human, starts to actually resemble a baby.
The embryonic stage begins two weeks after conception, after implantation has taken place, and lasts
until week eight. During this time, some body structure begins to appear and by week eight, the

Empirical research on SNAP caseloads have examined macroeconomics, individual household

The Globe Theater Research Paper
The Globe Theater, being one of the grandest theaters in London, has had many ups and downs
through the years. For example, the original Globe Theater was burnt down. It was built in London, in
an area called Southwark. Around the time, it was built it was the 1500 s during Shakespeare s time,
yes the William Shakespeare the play writer. William Shakespeare would write plays for the theater
and there would be performances performed by men. The Globe was designed and constructed for the
Chamberlin Men. The theater was owned by actors who were also shareholders like William
Shakespeare, Richard Burbage, and Cuthbert Burbage. The Globe Theater is also one of the most

The first time it closed down was because the outbreak of the Bubonic Plague that happened in 1563.
Since the theater had to close down the actors, including William Shakespeare, were not making any
money so the theater was struggling for some time. The second time the theater closed was when the
theater caught on fire in 1613. The fire happened during a performance of a play called All is True.
During the performance canons were shot which was the cause of the fire (Shakespeare Globe
Theater). The Globe Theater burnt down in less than two hours but was rebuilt in 1614. And the third
closure of the Globe was when the Puritans tried to shut it down. Some people were Puritans and
protested against the theaters. The first Globe Theatre was built due to the refusal of a puritan called
Giles Allen to renew the lease of the Theatre . The Puritans gained additional power and support
during the early 1600 s. In 1644, the Globe Theater was demolished by the Puritans and then tenement
houses were built on the land of the theater. The theater was never rebuilt until hundreds of years later

Fda s Warning Letter
Introduction Warning letter is the Food and Drug Administration s (FDA s) practice to give individuals
and firms an opportunity to take voluntary and prompt corrective action before it initiates an
enforcement action, when it sees public health is on risk depending on the nature of the violation.
Warning Letter is issued by FDA to the firm or individual to achieve voluntary compliance with law
by most of individuals and firms. The FDA is thinking that Warning Letters are issued only for
violations of regulatory significance that may lead to enforcement action of the Federal Food, Drug,
and Cosmetic Act for promptly and adequately correction of violations. If a correction action not taken
by individual or firm, the FDA can enforced the action such as recall, seizure, injunction,

Langston Hughes Research Paper
In 1919, when Langston Hughes was seventeen years old, he spent the summer with his father, Jim
Hughes, in Toluca, Mexico. Langston had not seen his father since he was a small child, and he was
excited about making the trip. However, during this visit, no affectionate bond would develop between
Langston and Jim. Jim Hughes was a cold, difficult man, who was driven by ambition to make money
and achieve respect. He had moved to Mexico to avoid segregation and racial injustice in the United
States. As the manager of an electric company and owner of a ranch and mines, Jim expressed
contempt for black Americans who continued to submit to segregation and live in poverty.

Langston had no playmates because Mary Langston lived in a run down, white neighborhood. He was
afraid to leave his yard, where he was safe from rowdy white boys who chased and teased him about
the second hand clothes and cast off women s shoes that he wore.
Langston spent many hours sitting on a stool beside his grandmother, who read him stories from the
Bible or from his favorite book, Grimm s Fairy Tales. Her long wavy hair had very little gray in it, and
in her ears she wore the small gold earrings Langston s grandfather left her. Her lips were thin, and her
skin, wrinkled like an Indian squaw s, was a lighter shade of brown than Langston s.
Carrie Hughes worked in Topeka as a stenographer for a black attorney and as a clerk for a newspaper.
Occasionally, on weekends, she would take Langston to Kansas City. His Uncle Dessalines owned a
barbershop in a black neighborhood, where people s lifestyles were far different from that of his strict

Knee injury is a very common condition that is frequently encountered in general practice. Knee
injuries may change the life style of the patients and the early diagnosis is of a great value in the
treatment of these injuries. MRI can improve the diagnostic accuracy, which may reduce the time and
accelerate rehabilitation after injury.
Magnetic resonance imaging represents the optimal imaging tool in the evaluation of the knee injuries,

The Island Of Dr Moreau Summary
In the excerpt of The Island of Dr. Moreau a conversation about how Dr. Moreau s studies are absurd
and inhuman and Dr. Moreau defends his work with benefits it has. Prendick has a better argument
then the doctor only because I think the doctors Vivisection work is inhuman and is wrong in so many
angles. I do not agree because moral practices are important because vivisection crazy.
Later on in the excerpt, he goes on about a certain type of animal with human characteristics. He
explains with a Vivisection is experimental surgery to animals by changing the way they look. Moving
body parts around making animals look into monsters. He tries to portray it as a good science but
Prendick impacts my thoughts on this with terms such as monster and things making it not a normal
creature anymore seen on pages 230. It tells me that these animals do not look the same anymore. So
this surgery they are doing is not saving the animal it is harming the animal. This type of work is
inhuman to the fact that they are testing something that isn t beneficial for the animal or mankind it is
just testing to what can happen. That is insane to cause harm to a living creature to experiment for no
greater cause. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes Prendick uneasy and you can tell by some things the doctor says he does not really have
strict morals like in this quote he says what we call moral education is such an artificial modification

how morals are not real in a sense since something like mindlessly harming innocent animals to makes
them look different is inhuman but he doesn t think that since he has no morals. This just gives me
more reasons to not agree with the doctor because of our differences in moral and human

Swot Analysis Of Braum s Incorporation
Braum s Incorporation is a vertically integrated company (owns multiple segments of industry and
merges them together) which allows them to produce their products to the quality and standards they
want. The corporation produces meat, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables. They have 280 stores
located throughout Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, and the majority located in Oklahoma, where
their headquarters are (About Us 2016). The chains of stores located in these areas provide
hamburgers, ice cream, and a small grocery store for their customers. Although Braum s provides all
of these commodities they re mainly known for their ice cream. When it comes to the production of
these products and how much the company should produce each year many factors come into play.
Some of these factors include weather, taxes for that year, wage increases, outbreaks of pests
destroying crops, human error in the production line, increased gas and diesel fuel prices, and so on.
Many of these factors are random events from nature or a new law implemented by the government
that puts strict regulations on the production of a certain product. For instance, in 2014, a major
drought occurred in the Midwest states, which resulted in low water resources and the reduction of
feed for cattle produced that year. This resulted in an increase in beef prices and the reduction of beef
produced for that year (Midwest 2014). Events like this can make or break a business and it s up to the

The Feminine Touch
Chess (2011) continues examining the ad s contents by noting the presence of the feminine touch,
which Erving Goffman describes as a cradling or delicate sense of touch. This is particularly relevant
given the DS Lite s touch screen interface. As such, the content of the ad focuses on the woman
playing, not the game or the system itself. Instead of including the woman in the domain of play itself,
the ad resorts to presenting her as delicate and overtly feminine, thus dividing her from the rest of the
gaming audience.
A second case Chess (2011) examines is an advertisement for Wii Fit, a health centric game and
hardware addition to the Wii gaming system. The ad shows rows of models using the Wii Fit board,
placed against a green background, where green is the color representing health and natural living.
The white attire of the models contrast the background color, but supplement its meaning by
representing purity and simplicity Kama all values that one may strive for while using the Wii Fit
(Chess, 2011).
In her analysis, Chess (2011) describes advertising attempt to tap into women s body conscious
aptitude. While Wii Fit seemed to posit itself as a product that anyone can use regardless of sex or
ethnicity, the fact that it appears in magazines such as O and Good Housekeeping clearly Target a
female audience and plays on the standardized value of healthy living (Chess, 2011). It is quite
apparent that this type of game does not fall in the traditional realm of games,

The Pros And Disadvantages Of Modern Test Taking

Modern Test Taking
There have been many studies done to figure out which of the many testing styles allow students to
both retain more information and help elevate some of the pre exam stress, while at the same time not
putting too much work on the professor. Out of all the styles that have been tested, two of the most
common styles that constantly rival each other are the open book test vs. the closed book tests. Many
teachers still cling to the traditional closed books test.
A closed book test is a test where students are expected to study their note before a test is given and
try their very best to memorize everything that they can fit into their heads in order to successfully
pass the test, then go into the exam with nothing but the pencil in their hand and the test on their desk.
An open book test, is a test that allows students to bring either their notes or something that can be
written on such as a sheet of paper or a note card that was given to the student before the exam.
Both of these exam types have a wide range of both advantages and disadvantages.
One of the most common disadvantages that is often mentioned for closed book exams is the fact that
as far as the real world is concerned, closed book test are unrealistic. For many subjects the idea of
doing a task with nothing but the sole information in someone s head would be seen as not only absurd
but actually careless. An example of this absurdity and

The Importance Of Use
Notwithstanding its prominence in the literature, a major shortcoming of the TAM method is its
utilitarian focus on cognition and intentionality, rather than affect and emotions. While this may be
useful for explaining SNS account creation, it is insufficient for explaining continuous SNS use and
engagement. Furthermore, the framework assumes that all users have the same preferences for the
same technical factors, such as usability. This view completely neglects that users may adapt SNSs for
their own idiosyncratic purposes that may defy the original intentions of designers. As a case in point,
Lu and Lin (2011) demonstrate that perceived enjoyment is a significant predictor of continued SNS
use even more so than other design based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other scholars have continued to criticise the over reliance on Facebook in this field of research.
Stoycheff and colleagues (2017, p.9) point out that 559 (84.3%) of the reviewed publications were
single medium studies that examined one SNS in isolation. This represents a burgeoning literature on
the effects of Facebook use, but we oftentimes forget to ask, why we are studying Facebook in the first
place despite the wealth of alternative platforms. Single platform often studies run the risk of
potentially omitting important distinctions between different SNSs in terms of their social affordances,
audiences and uses. Furthermore, focusing on one particular SNS paints only a partial picture of how
people use and are affected by social media (Kim 2014, p.2). This may limit the generalisability of
studies due implicit biases towards particular user groups, usage patterns, platform policies and social
affordances. Examining a social media platform in isolation, as opposed to being part of a larger social
media environment, may thus inadvertently inhibit the reliability, generalisability and interpretation of
results. Despite the wealth of studies on users motivations for joining individual SNSs, in addition to
recent scholarly work on the gratifications obtained from each site (Papacharissi Mendelson 2011;
Shao 2009; Whiting Williams 2013), little

Effective Communication And Interpersonal Communication
Within this piece of writing I am going to go explain how effective communication and interpersonal
interaction is crucial within health and social care, I will also discuss theories of communication and
how they are effective within the health and social sector.
Communication
What is communication? Communication Is when two or more people exchange or express
information, thoughts, feelings etc. by using sounds, signs, or behaviors.
Why do people communicate?
People communicate to find out how people are feeling, so if there are any problems they can help
them out and take them to the doctors if needed, in some cases people communication just to have a
catch up with a friend. A good example of this within health and social would be if a person that spoke
a different language needed to go to the toilet you would have to communicate by using the right
translation book to understand what they are saying. There are many different types to communicate
which are; one to one, formal, and informal, between colleagues, with other professionals, between
professionals and service users, multi agency, multi professional working I am now going to go into
some detail about these different types to communicate to each other within a social workers industry,
I will be giving examples throughout.
Interpersonal
What is Interpersonal communication?
Interpersonal communication is skills and techniques that people use in order to communicate and

doing so, Datril will primarily target aspirin users, specifically those from Bufferin s and Excedin s

These diverse types nebulas all have one thing in common and That one thing is how they are all
attracted and created by some sort of gravitational pull. Due to the excess amount of debris in the
spiral arms of a spiral galaxies, such as the milky way. Hydrogen and helium from the spiral arms and
the debris that is still left from the big bang gives these nebulas a way to form their dust clouds. These
dust clouds help create stars and once these dust clouds are finished making a baby star the star
pushes/ blows away the
nebulae so it can break through creating an open cluster of clouds which is also a type of nebulae that

Let s start with a Globular cluster, this is a well shaped well rounded cluster that consists of one very

Investigating The Rate Of The Red Water
The aim of this experiment is to observe and record the rate of the blue water in the dialysis tube
diffusing into the beaker containing different concentrations of salt over 20 minutes to see what effect
the concentrations of salt has on the rate of diffusion. The hypothesized of this experiment is that the
blue water in dialysis tube 3 will have a faster rate of blue dye diffusing into the salt water in beaker 3.
Beaker 1 will have the slowest rate of blue dye diffusing from the dialysis tube into the salt water and
beaker 2 will result in a colour in between beaker 1 and 3. This is because the concentration of salt in
the beaker is higher than the water in the dialysis tubes so the salt water will go into the dialysis tube
while the blue water in the dialysis tube will diffusion into the beaker. This experiment was performed
by measuring out the same amount of water into each of the 3 beakers and adding different amounts of
salt to each one to change the concentration. 3 dialysis tubes containing water and 3 drops of blue dye
were tied at one end, then tied at the other using cotton thread before placing them one each into the
different concentrated beaker cotton tied end facing down. After 20 minutes the results were observed
and recorded into the results table. The finishing results were unexpected and not accurate due to the
systematic and random errors, rejecting the hypothesis. One of the most important Functions in

Summary Of The Woman Warrior By Maxine Hong Kingston

Subjugation of Women in No Name Woman
The Story Woman Warrior written by Maxine Hong Kingston in 1975, is a great representation of
what woman are characterized as in regards to being submissive or rebellious in their society, and
how, even though they are harshly treated, the women fight back instead of letting themselves be
subjugated, it exemplifies the hardships women face in their lives. In The Woman Warrior: Memoirs
of a Girlhood Among Ghosts, Author Maxine Hong Kingston brings to the table a bunch of allegorical
and life stories that bring upon the hardships in which she, herself, must deal with the sexist ideology
and prejudice growing up young Chinese American girl. Throughout her life she was called such racist
and stereotypical names such as gook and is repeatedly told such chauvinist Chinese sayings like girls
are maggots in the rice by her own flesh and blood; her parents. Maxine Hong Kingston feels isolated
from modern American culture and from the patriarchal Chinese culture.
In her recollection of her memories she reminisces of her search for female archetypes, while
involving some imaginative stories associating Chinese characters as Fa Mu Lan, a woman warrior
known to China; with thoughts of her own obstinate mother, Brave Orchid. Through these numerous
accounts, the narrator searches to proclaim her identity as a Chinese American female in her own
bicultural world. Amidst

United States And The United Nations
To what extent did Participation of the United States and the United Nations in Korea in late 1950s
affect Cultural and Political Reconstruction?

A. Plan of Investigation
After a devastating civil war in Korea in early 1950s, South Korea faced a new, unprecedented phase
in forming a constitutional government with assistance from the United States and the United Nations.
Korea especially experienced several crucial reforms in politics and in society due to introduction of
democracy and diffusion of Western culture. To determine the extent of contributions by the United
States and the United Nations in late 1950s, the investigation will examine the nature and extent of
three major commitments in reconstruction: injection of democracy into Korean government,
reconstruction of politics, and societal reforms for modernization. Not only scholarly sources from
databases, such as EBSCO and CLIO, but also books were used as references in order to determine the
extent of commitments. The Coldest Winter by Halberstam and Grand Expectations by Patterson were

Portfolio Writing Review And Reflection
Portfolio Writing Review and Reflection
When I started this class, I never thought I was a good writer. Ironically, after this class, I have learned
how to be an organized writer and the term good is extremely unclear and subjective. From the short
stories and questions to the individual essays, each assignment helped me practice and develop my
writing skills. Overall, I think my writing has improved and the process of writing, something I often
over looked, has immensely helped my writing.
My literacy narrative titled, Affinity for Reading , helped me analyze and assess how I really felt about
writing. Reading through my literacy narrative, I see how far I have grown in my grammar and
mechanics and formatting. I remember after I turned the assignment in that I forgot to change the font
to Times New Roman. I thought I was going to fail based on that formatting error. While I was
fleshing out my ideas for the assignment, I sat down at Starbucks and just wrote any and all memories
of reading and writing that I had. It was not incredibly efficient, however, I learned how to create more
structured outlines as the course went on. In addition, I also learned to triple check basic formatting
for each essay to ensure that each essay was as accurate as possible.
My argument analysis titled, The Art of Liberal Arts , allowed me to use several different sources for
writing assistance. I used the Smartthinking website and I also went to the Germanna Student Tutoring
Service.

Workout Tips for the Individuals with Limited Mobility
Remaining seated for extended periods is a risk factor for the individuals with poor health. The
benefits of exercise are not limited to the individuals with full mobility. The injured, disabled, ailing,
as well as the individuals with limited mobility, should also experience the advantages of mood

The Female Sex Hormone Estrogen
Throughout history, women have had different roles, most were enforced. Women have long since
been viewed as the opposite of men, a view carried by both men and women. Among many others, the
most prevalent responsibility of women is to carry her child during fetal development, this does not
make it her duty to rear the child once it is born. However, it is imposed upon her by internal and
predominantly external male influences in life and with this the assumptions on how women are
different from men such as caring, protective, emotional, loving, etc. These assumptions could perhaps
be described as a byproduct of the female sex hormone estrogen (Logan). Estrogen has been known to
be a neural stimulant that has been described as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the role expected by women that at the same time were treated as property, married women
were usually referred to as, Mrs. , followed by her husband s name. They were traded, sold, and often
due to their gender aborted, they were viewed as inferior burdens whose only duties were to work,
make strong preferably male babies and suitable mates and be happy and never complain. It was not
uncommon for an older bachelor of the late 1800 s to buy a man s daughter for marriage, and at the
time the prime marriage and child bearing years for a woman were from the start of their menstrual
cycle to her late thirties. Seeing how most young men could not afford a dowry, most marriages of the
time were between older men and significantly younger women. This also being the practice so that a
man who is fertile until his closing years could have many heirs due to more years for birthing until a
woman s menopause and also so the woman could take care of the husband in his late years and be
young enough to work and take care of her children. Also, it was not uncommon to sell a woman in a
business deal to be a mistress, maid, adoptive daughter, laborer, anything viewed as beneficial to the
deal. This is entirely different from today, the idea of a woman, though a diamond in the rough is way
more progressive than it was in the late 1800 s, women are no longer treated like property, have
greater value and

Pros And Cons Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana purchase was Spain s territory of about 828,000,000 square miles. Louisiana being
Spain territory made it extremely difficult to move goods because, without access to the Mississippi
River, the goods had to be moved through the mountains. With access to the Mississippi River, the
goods could be taken by boat. Thomas Jefferson knows that Spain is struggling, so he knows he is
more likely to be able to purchase Louisiana from them because they needed the money.
Spain signed the Treaty of Ildefonso and gave the territory to France. Jefferson knew that France
would be more difficult to get through to because France was ruled by Napoleon and he wanted to
build an empire. If Napoleon built his empire in Louisiana and made it his base then he would be able
to attack American territory easily. Since Napoleon was trying to take over Europe while George
Washington was in office, what would have stopped him from trying to take over the United States?
Santo Domingo was an island that Napoleon wanted to be his base of operations for his military. Santo
Domingo had sugar plantations with slaves. When the slaves began to uprise, led by Toussaint L
ouverture, there were far more slaves on the island then other people so it was easy for the slaves to
take over and kill everybody. Napoleon wanted Santo Domingo so he sent about 25,000 soldiers from
his troops. The slaves beat Napoleon s troops too and France had the strongest military of them all.
Napoleon lost the island and

Outside Of House Painting Analysis
It is possible to paint the outside of your house in the winter time. Here are a few things you need to
take into consideration before painting the outside of your house this winter. Look At The Temperature
Your Materials Will Work At The first thing you need to do is look at all the material that you need to
use to paint the outside of your house and determine what temperature the materials work effectively
at. For example, if the outside of your house has already been prepared for paint before the cold
weather struck, only your paint needs to stand up to cold weather. Or, if the outside of the house has
not been prepared yet, you need to make sure that any caulk, fillers and primers you need to use, as
well as the paint, will be able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, caulking, fillers and primers often need warmer weather to work properly. Be sure to read
the directions on all materials that you purchase carefully. Find Out The Surface Temperature Next,
before you start painting, you need to find out not just what the air temperature will be, you also need
to figure out what the surface temperature of your home is. Often times, the surface temperature of
your home will be cooler than the outside temperature. Just because you have one warm day does not
mean that the outside of your house has had time to warm up. You will need to purchase a tool
specifically designed to measure the surface temperature of objects. You will need to purchase a
thermometer with a probe so you can figure out the surface temperature of your home. You should be
able to find this tool at your local home improvement or building store. Work With The Sun If you
decide the temperature outside is warm enough to paint, you need to start working as soon as the sun
comes up and the weather warms up. You also need to work with the sun. Follow the sun around the
house as you paint; when the sun moves, you need to move as well. Once the temperatures begin the
downward slide, stop

Why Germany Lost the First World War
Why Germany lost the First World War
The First World War ended with the triple entente as victorious (with help from the Americans). Some
reasons to why the allies won the war were because of; Germany had to fight a war on two fronts, the
unstable political situation in Germany, the allied naval blockade, German economy, failure of the
schlieffen plan, interception of the Zimmerman telegram, the German naval blockade on Britain
(sinking of American ships), development of the tank and anti submarine weapons, the advancement
of new technology that required new tactics.
The Naval blockade
The British blockade was a key factor in the defeat of Germany. Starved of supplies, the German army
was weakened and the German people lost some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to trench warfare. The Germans were not prepared to do this type of war, they did not have
the resources to do this due to the british naval blockade. Concerning the Schleiffen plan there were a
few severe miscalculations that led to gargantuan problems, the Germans had miscalculated the
amount of soldiers, supplies and communication that required to be transported across the country
from east to west and back. This miscalculation was not expected due to Germany thinking that Russia
would be slow to mobilize and thereby give Germany time to first beat the French then later turn all
their forces towards the east to face Russia.
Weak Allies
Germany had chosen her allies badly, they had allied themselves to the decaying Austrian Empire,
Ottoman Empire and Italy. Germany had chosen badly when relying on Italy to help out in the war
since as soon as war was declared Italy pulled out of the alliance. Also Germany had to constantly
assist the Austrian Empire in protecting their own territory. This led to problems as this exhausted
troops that would and should have been sent to fight the war in the trenches. Germany also sent
supplies that should have been sent to the soldiers fighting on the front line. If Germany had stronger
and more reliable allies then the outcome of the war would have been different.
Political Unrest
As the war went on and millions died Germany s censored propaganda released only tales of glorious
combat and

Negative Effects Of Technology On Teenagers
Have you ever buried your face in your smartphone for hours? Have you missed out on events or told
your friends you couldn t hang out because you just wanted to stay at home and watch Netflix or play
video games? If so, you probably have, or have previously had, an addiction to technology. The first
Apple iPhone was only released ten years ago, and it is becoming a bigger issue for this generation s
teenagers. Teenagers are abusing modern technology it s affecting them and others negatively because
it encourages irritability and depression, discourages face to face interaction, and puts teenager s
privacy and safety at risk.
To begin, technology affects teenagers mindset negatively. First, it can result in a lack of chemicals,
such as melatonin, a chemical triggered in your brain that helps you reach a state of relaxation. This
can be faulty to a regular sleep basis of a teenager, and it can take away from the eight to ten hours of
sleep that teenagers need, according to multiple studies. According to Dr . Lawrence J. Epstein, People
who have problems with sleep are at increased risk for developing emotional disorders, depression,
and anxiety. Not only does sleep trigger anger, but competitiveness does as well; multiple forms of
social media support this idea that having more friends is better, even if you don t know who they are.
The more followers you have, the more liked, respected and admired you are by your fellow peers.
Some people even go to the extreme lengths

Psychology-Naturalistic Observation Essay
Naturalistic Observation
Primary Reference Source
Loucopoulos P and V Karakostas (1995) System Requirements Engineering. McGraw Hill
International.
Summary description
Observational methods involve an investigator viewing users as they work and taking notes on the
activity which takes place. Observation may be either direct, where the investigator is actually present
during the task, or indirect, where the task is viewed by some other means such as through use of a
video camera.
Typical Application Areas
Useful early in specification for obtaining qualitative data. This method is an alternative (non
involving) version of Contextual Inquiry. It is useful for studying currently executed tasks and
processes. It has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book by Rubin is cited on account of its clarity of exposition, but this approach is documented in
many sources. J Nielsen advocates an approach he calls discount usability engineering .
Typical Application Areas
These approaches may be used at any stage in the process, although discount usability engineering
assumes the existence of a prototype that can stand on its own.
Benefits
The method can be seen as an alternative to more extensive trials, which may take place later, prior to
a release of a product.
Limitations
If planning and preparation work is underestimated, results may be of little value.
Cost of use
Basic needs for this approach are paper forms for the observers, and equipment to show the interface
on a screen or wall. This equipment could include an overhead projector, a computer screen, a barco,
or a video based system with monitor. Optional materials needed would be a video camera to record
the test session, log software and a computer with a simple data logging program.
Costs of Acquisition
This approach is public domain. The work of Rubin is particularly useful as a starting point.
Suitability for requirements engineering in Telematics:
This method deserves consideration as it directly involves end

  • 5. The Anzacs And The Development Of Nationalism In Australia... The ANZACs were a significant influence in the development of nationalism in Australia during World War One (WWI). Throughout WWI, Australian formed the fundamentals of the now universally recognised Australian identity. The ANZACs played a crucial role in the establishment of a mixture of both cultural and triumphal nationalism as Australia s exposure to other cultures during WWI saw them no longer recognised as an extension of Britain but an independent group of competent men and women that could equal their Commonwealth forefathers in the war effort. Thus, forming a distinct identity and sense of nationalism that s significance, decades after WWI, remained strongly associated with the WWI ANZACs. Nationalism is seen to have two origins. ... He conceptualised Conditions of Worth as the limited ways in which a person could see him or herself as being valued. The formulation was also influenced by psychoanalyst Erik Erikson and his ideas of the early stages of development. Rogers asserted that the child who learns trust and a sense of personal control are more likely to have a sense of self agency and robustness in the face of later difficulties. This comes about when conflicts find a successful resolution leaving both parties emotionally respected and intact. Thus Rogers more developed model of how a child is socially instructed can encompass concepts such as shame (Psychoanalysis), Modelling (Albert Bandura) and ideas of Internalization, amongst many others, and as such is more of a meta model of growth of the personality. In this way she may have accomplished what she set out to do in the beginning with this essay, which was to convince the target culture they need to change their ways before it?s too late. • 9. Market Transparency and Consumer Choice for Housing Essay Since 2006, the number of foreclosures in the housing market has sparked dramatically. This is due to the fact that banks have given out subprime mortgages or interest only loans to consumers regardless of their credit score. One of the main reasons why banks did not care about consumers credit history is because they resold the loans as mortgage backed securities. This caused the loans to fall into the hands of credit rating companies that rated the loans too positive; thus, these assets were expanded and helped lead to the foreclosure crisis without hurting the banks directly. The goal was that banks lustily sought the big payoff that these mortgages could provide. The mortgages and loans let low income consumers pay only a low rate of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So far, as a result, foreclosures are decreasing and the mortgages are becoming more affordable, but job creation and transparency in the market has not occurred, so the crisis continues. Fortunately, job creation is projected to increase by this spring due to the passing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dubbed the economic stimulus to pull us out of the recession and create jobs; therefore, new job growth will help citizens pay their mortgages and lower foreclosure even more. Despite all of these laws, there still remains one vital part to ensure the stability of our financial system: transparency. Congress has proposed a financial overhaul bill that would enforce new rules and regulation to the industry, but the downfall of it is that it would hinder needed economic growth in a time of feeble recovery. So I propose creating an internet portal administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The government would then require banks to put the address on the top of every loan application to ensure consumer awareness of the address. The portal or website would allow consumers to create a profile and input a basic credit history. The employees at the Department of Housing and Urban Development would then perform calculations about the type of loan, the ability to refinance and buy a home, the risk factor for different types of loans, the outcome of the housing market in the future, and a background check on every bank in ... • 26. Swot Analysis Of Braum s Incorporation Braum s Incorporation is a vertically integrated company (owns multiple segments of industry and merges them together) which allows them to produce their products to the quality and standards they want. The corporation produces meat, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables. They have 280 stores located throughout Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, and the majority located in Oklahoma, where their headquarters are (About Us 2016). The chains of stores located in these areas provide hamburgers, ice cream, and a small grocery store for their customers. Although Braum s provides all of these commodities they re mainly known for their ice cream. When it comes to the production of these products and how much the company should produce each year many factors come into play. Some of these factors include weather, taxes for that year, wage increases, outbreaks of pests destroying crops, human error in the production line, increased gas and diesel fuel prices, and so on. Many of these factors are random events from nature or a new law implemented by the government that puts strict regulations on the production of a certain product. For instance, in 2014, a major drought occurred in the Midwest states, which resulted in low water resources and the reduction of feed for cattle produced that year. This resulted in an increase in beef prices and the reduction of beef produced for that year (Midwest 2014). Events like this can make or break a business and it s up to the owner of the ... • 27. The Feminine Touch Chess (2011) continues examining the ad s contents by noting the presence of the feminine touch, which Erving Goffman describes as a cradling or delicate sense of touch. This is particularly relevant given the DS Lite s touch screen interface. As such, the content of the ad focuses on the woman playing, not the game or the system itself. Instead of including the woman in the domain of play itself, the ad resorts to presenting her as delicate and overtly feminine, thus dividing her from the rest of the gaming audience. A second case Chess (2011) examines is an advertisement for Wii Fit, a health centric game and hardware addition to the Wii gaming system. The ad shows rows of models using the Wii Fit board, placed against a green background, where green is the color representing health and natural living. The white attire of the models contrast the background color, but supplement its meaning by representing purity and simplicity Kama all values that one may strive for while using the Wii Fit (Chess, 2011). In her analysis, Chess (2011) describes advertising attempt to tap into women s body conscious aptitude. While Wii Fit seemed to posit itself as a product that anyone can use regardless of sex or ethnicity, the fact that it appears in magazines such as O and Good Housekeeping clearly Target a female audience and plays on the standardized value of healthy living (Chess, 2011). • 29. The Pros And Disadvantages Of Modern Test Taking Will Powers Dr. Lenore English 100 26 October, 2017 Modern Test Taking There have been many studies done to figure out which of the many testing styles allow students to both retain more information and help elevate some of the pre exam stress, while at the same time not putting too much work on the professor. Out of all the styles that have been tested, two of the most common styles that constantly rival each other are the open book test vs. the closed book tests. Many teachers still cling to the traditional closed books test. A closed book test is a test where students are expected to study their note before a test is given and try their very best to memorize everything that they can fit into their heads in order to successfully pass the test, then go into the exam with nothing but the pencil in their hand and the test on their desk. An open book test, is a test that allows students to bring either their notes or something that can be written on such as a sheet of paper or a note card that was given to the student before the exam. Both of these exam types have a wide range of both advantages and disadvantages. One of the most common disadvantages that is often mentioned for closed book exams is the fact that as far as the real world is concerned, closed book test are unrealistic. For many subjects the idea of doing a task with nothing but the sole information in someone s head would be seen as not only absurd but actually careless. An example of this absurdity and ... The Importance Of Use Notwithstanding its prominence in the literature, a major shortcoming of the TAM method is its utilitarian focus on cognition and intentionality, rather than affect and emotions. While this may be useful for explaining SNS account creation, it is insufficient for explaining continuous SNS use and engagement. Furthermore, the framework assumes that all users have the same preferences for the same technical factors, such as usability. This view completely neglects that users may adapt SNSs for their own idiosyncratic purposes that may defy the original intentions of designers. This represents a burgeoning literature on the effects of Facebook use, but we oftentimes forget to ask, why we are studying Facebook in the first place despite the wealth of alternative platforms. Single platform often studies run the risk of potentially omitting important distinctions between different SNSs in terms of their social affordances, audiences and uses. Furthermore, focusing on one particular SNS paints only a partial picture of how people use and are affected by social media (Kim 2014, p.2). This may limit the generalisability of studies due implicit biases towards particular user groups, usage patterns, platform policies and social affordances. Examining a social media platform in isolation, as opposed to being part of a larger social media environment, may thus inadvertently inhibit the reliability, generalisability and interpretation of results. Investigating The Rate Of The Red Water The aim of this experiment is to observe and record the rate of the blue water in the dialysis tube diffusing into the beaker containing different concentrations of salt over 20 minutes to see what effect the concentrations of salt has on the rate of diffusion. The hypothesized of this experiment is that the blue water in dialysis tube 3 will have a faster rate of blue dye diffusing into the salt water in beaker 3. Beaker 1 will have the slowest rate of blue dye diffusing from the dialysis tube into the salt water and beaker 2 will result in a colour in between beaker 1 and 3. This is because the concentration of salt in the beaker is higher than the water in the dialysis tubes so the salt water will go into the dialysis tube while the blue water in the dialysis tube will diffusion into the beaker. This experiment was performed by measuring out the same amount of water into each of the 3 beakers and adding different amounts of salt to each one to change the concentration. 3 dialysis tubes containing water and 3 drops of blue dye were tied at one end, then tied at the other using cotton thread before placing them one each into the different concentrated beaker cotton tied end facing down. Concerning the Schleiffen plan there were a few severe miscalculations that led to gargantuan problems, the Germans had miscalculated the amount of soldiers, supplies and communication that required to be transported across the country from east to west and back. This miscalculation was not expected due to Germany thinking that Russia would be slow to mobilize and thereby give Germany time to first beat the French then later turn all their forces towards the east to face Russia. Weak Allies Germany had chosen her allies badly, they had allied themselves to the decaying Austrian Empire, Ottoman Empire and Italy.
