Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a genetic disease that is portrayed by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and
tenderness in localized areas. Fibromyalgia is when there is pain throughout the whole body. Being
diagnosed with fibromyalgia can be a big life changer! Some of the reasons why this is a life changing
disease are symptoms of fibromyalgia, how it is inherited, the type of mutation, the protein that is
affected, the chromosome number, and treatment for fibromyalgia.
The chromosome that fibromyalgia affects is chromosome number one. Number one chromosome has
1,200 to 1,300 genes that provide instructions for making proteins. These proteins perform a ... Show

Some of the most common places fibromyalgia will cause pain in is joints, abdomen, back, or neck.
The pain types can be chronic, diffused, sharp, or severe. Fibromyalgia can also cause mood swings,
insomnia, fatigue, pins and needles, depression, headache, irritability, joint stiffness, nervousness,
painful menstruation, back pain spasms, or tingling feet. That is just a short list of symptoms.
Fibromyalgia is what doctors diagnose patients with when they have pain and do not know what is
causing it. Misdiagnoses could also be Lupus, Lyme disease, Arthritis, and Sleep

Blood Transfusion
Blood transfusion is the process of transferring blood from one person, which is the donor, to another
person, which is the recipient. The earliest research of blood transfusion started in the 17th century, a
British physician named William Harvey discovered the circulation and properties of blood, which
then inspired others to operate blood transfusions. This led to the first successful blood transfusion in
1665, which was performed by Richard Lower in England. He managed to save a severely injured dog
by transfusing blood from another dog through a tied artery. The introduction of blood transfusion
made a huge impact on humans, because it plays an important role in saving millions of lives each
year. Blood transfusion is performed when a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

chemotherapy, she successfully defeated cancer and is now a strong and healthy 13 year old. Through
this real life example, we can see that blood transfusion gives cancer patients a sense of hope and a

Lastly, the bitter taste buds are located in the far back of the tongue. There are some taste buds on the
palate that pick up different tastes (Smith, David). Smell, on the other hand, is the sense that comes
from odor molecules attaching to the olfactory nerve. Air carries the odor into the nose. Then odor
contacts the olfactory nerves at the top of the nasal passages. The the olfactory nerves send a signal to
the olfactory bulb of the brain, and the nerve sends a signal to the front of the brain. The forebrain
translates the signals of the odor into a specific smell (Swindle, Mark). Smell and taste are so
interrelated that many scientists think that taste is about 80% of aroma and 20% actual taste
(American Academy of Otolaryngology). It changes as people age, the sense of smell seems to be
better in adults than in kids. Usually at age 60 or over, adults may start to lose their sense of smell.
Scientists have proven that women have a better sense of smell than men. People who have head
injuries often lose their sense of smell and lose weight because the taste of the food they eat has been
impaired through the injury. Also, people with sinus problems or upper respiratory problems lose
weight because of a decreased sense of smell and appetite (American Academy of Otolaryngology). In
previous studies, Frank and Byram s article suggest that taste and smell interactions are dependent on
taste and odor. In their experiments, they gave subjects strawberry

The Importance Of English Settlement In America
In the early sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the English were interested and capable of settling in
the New World. Not only did the English have motive for settling, but at the time they also had the
resources to do so. There were many hardships in the path of them doing this, however the English
were persistent in making their lives in the New World work. For many European counties, the New
World seemed to be a place to expand their empires, gain riches, and spread their faith. Starting with
Christopher Columbus discovering the Caribbean in the name of Spain and starting a settlement on
Hispaniola, he then started the imperial competition for land. With gold having been made a common
use for all European currencies, the demand for it rose. After Spain had raided and taken control on
Tenochitlán and returned with many riches, it caught the English eye to start to try and colonize. Spain
and England soon became deadly rivals and begun to try to surpass one another in the race for North
America. Jamestown was the first successful colony for the English in 1607. The start of one colony
was the hunger to start more. Following the Renaissance (1300 A.D 1700 A.D), people were seeking
ways to explore the mysteries of nature and navigate around the world. Europeans were fast to laud
over the exemplary feats accomplished by scientists, explorers, writers, and philosophers. The strength
of such praise encouraged many to become more interested in discovering new lands and

Literature Review On Knuckle Joint
CHAPTER: 4 LITERATURE REVIEW Shaik.JohnBhasha et.al [2015][1] studied that In mechanical
automobile domain the joints play very crucial role, depending upon the application the joints are used
may be temporary or permanent. A knuckle joint is used to connect two rods under tensile load. This
joint permits angular misalignment of the rods and may take compressive load if it is guided. The
paper reports on design and analysis of a knuckle joint which is used in power transmission.
NishantVibhavSaxena et.al [2015][2] studied that the rapid growth of technology in recent decades

Essay The Thought Process of Shakespeare s Hamlet
The Thought Process of Shakespeare s Hamlet
If Hamlet from himself be ta en away,
And when he s not himself does wrong Laertes,
Then Hamlet does it not, Hamlet denies it.
Who does it then? His madness. If t be so,
Hamlet is of the faction that is wrong d;
His madness is poor Hamlet s enemy.
(V.ii.230 235)
Hamlet s self description in his apology to Laertes, delivered in the appropriately distanced and
divided third person, explicitly fingers the greatest antagonist of the play‹consciousness. The
obligatory cultural baggage that comes along with Hamlet heeds little attention to the incestuous
Claudius while focusing entirely on the gloomy Dane s legendary melancholia and his resulting
revenge delays. As Laurence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chief definition of thought revolves around the basic concept of the mental process: The action or
process of thinking; mental action or activity in general, esp. that of the intellect; exercise of the
mental faculty; formation and arrangement of ideas in the mind (OED, 1a). A further subset of
definitions can be catalogued into a Manichean vision of positives and negatives and which equally
apply to Hamlet s central consideration of consciousness as a blessing or a curse. There is a stress on
thought s potentiality which fits with Hamlet s obsession with the infinitude of man: Conception,
imagination, fancy (OED, 4c). But following this comes the negative view of thought as quasi action,
a direct link to Hamlet s stall tactics: The entertaining of some project in the mind; the idea or notion
of doing something, as contemplated or entertained in the mind; hence, intention, purpose, design; esp.
an imperfect or half formed intention; with negative expressed or implied = not the least intention or
notion of doing something (OED, 4d). Similarly, the past neutral sense of Remembrance, Œmind
(OED, 5e) is countered by the negative anticipatory connotation of: Anxiety or distress of mind;
solicitude; grief, sorrow, trouble, care, vexation (OED, 5a). This current of duality is important to keep
in mind as we explore its

My parents came to the United States to pursue education. They both left everything behind to seek a
better life and achieve the American dream. They raised my sister and I with their culture in mind
which immersed me in. My parent s positive influences encouraged me to never give up as well as
welcome others with open arms.
I grew up in a multicultural household, my father came from Peru and my mother came from
Colombia. Both of my parents are proud of their respective countries and heritage. They both embrace
each other s cultures by celebrating traditions and preparing food native to both countries. Having
open minded parents has taught me to experiment with new foods, music, and hobbies without

Essay On Discrimination In America
Social Issues: Discrimination in the US Discrimination is deeply embedded in America s history even
older than the country itself. America was at its peak in the 1920 s and with the fame of its
opportunity, safety and freedom came newcomers from other countries came looking for just this, but
instead of basking in the alleged pleasantness of the American Dream , the immigrants were
scrutinized, disrespected, and were limited from many rights, they were discriminated against
How was Discrimination Doled Out? Immigrants would often work the hardest, low paycheck jobs
and weren t completely accepted into American society at the time. In late 19th and early 20th century

Ethnic minorities are sometimes today, and back then, consistently the victims of anti immigrant bias
which, of course, always favored American born citizens. The USA born natives often resented the
immigrants for their hard work, determination and success. They would also experience anger
whenever the newcomers went against the grain. All this resent and anger resulted in many negative
stereotypes that fueled antagonism towards many ethnicities. Latin Americans are becoming
increasing targets to biased crimes. These stereotypes have a long history that started in California and
southwest America where in periods of anti immigrant movements, both new settlers and veteran US
citizens of Hispanic descent were unfairly blamed for social and economic problems, and were also
victims of harassment and, at the worst, deportation. Long standing bias against Pacific Americans is
also existent. In fact, in 1882 the Chinese exclusion act which barred Chinese laborers from entering
the US was legalized.
The paranoia of co workers plus the feeling of non assimilation of the immigrants into society didn t
get the act was not repealed until 1943.

My Interest On Computer Science Essay
Google Essay What sparked your interest in computer science? How did this lead you to major in
computer science and what do you hope to accomplish with your degree? In your answer, please
describe how your experiences have influenced the goals you have for yourself. Every human has a
purpose and every purpose has an ordained path and beginning. My interest in computer science came
to light as soon as I began to walk, talk and think independently. I always had the innate passion and
desire to scrutinize electronic devices even though I was still a child with little understanding. Being a
little kid, my access to computers were constrained, but nonetheless, I made the best out of every
opportunity I had with them. Time flew by like a dove as I suddenly began to grow in wisdom, and
also began to understand what life is all about. Immediately I graduated from high school, I applied
for a 3 month full time computer training before making any preparation for college. Unbeknownst to
me, I was actually on a direct path to discovering my true potential in computer science and
engineering. Financially and physically, it was a burden commuting from my home down to the
computer training center, but the intrinsic passion and desire to get my hands on electronic devices
and to learn more about how computers really work made me overlook the struggle. I did not think
twice while applying for Computer Engineering in the university, as I already had a clear glimpse of

Deborah King Celebrity Worship
I would argue that America s fascination with celebrity worship can be just as damaging, if not more
so, on a social level, than drugs and alcohol. Celebrity worship starts early in life, even as children. As
kids, we fantasized about being G.I. Joe or the latest Disney Princess, and a few years later we shifted
from fantasy to reality, now looking up to the latest celebrities like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and
Miley Cyrus. Today s society is obsessed with celebrities and it s not a good thing. I agree with
Deborah King s claim and disagree with Collin Palmer s claim, because an obsession with celebrities
steals the attention off of you, it causes you to waste a lot of your money, and the celebrities serve as
bad role models. Although, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Celebrities expose teenagers to partying lifestyles, profanity and inequity towards each other, using
each other as if they were objects, sex, drugs, discrimination and more. Let s take Lindsay Lohan for
example. A star since age six, Lohan was America s favorite child, until she turned to drugs and
alcohol. She s now famous to the younger audience for her alcohol and drug abuse, demonstrating a
harmful, reckless lifestyle to teenagers. Teaching them to have fun, do what you want, and don t be
scared of regulations and consequences. Another example, according to Deborah King, is Mel Gibson
s problems with alcohol which encourages us to take it as well, thinking it s no harm. Another,
celebrity who has a bad influence on us, is Miley Cyrus. Not so long ago, she was just a sweet little
girl who was playing Hannah Montana on Disney Channel. But, now she s appearing naked in her
music videos, smoking marijuana on stage, spitting on her audience, etc. All of this has became not
only her normal behavior, but also her fans too. Although, sometimes celebrities serve as good role
models, the bad ones impact us more.
Celebrities consume us more than they ever have before. Never has America been so obsessed with
celebrities. They steal the attention off of you, waste your money, and also serve as bad role models.
This obsession has reached a point that I believe is entirely unhealthy for our society

Sweeney Todd Analysis
Sweeney Todd 2005 Review Sweeney Todd is composed by the spectacular Stephen Sondheim, and
this production was directed by John Doyle in 2005. This Musical is about a barber Benjamin
Barker/Sweeney Todd who s sent away by Judge Turpin because he wanted Todd s wife. Todd is told
by his friend Mrs. Lovett that his wife died and his daughter Johanna is being kept by Turpin who is
planning to marry her. Todd vows that he will take revenge on The Judge. As Sweeney awaits his
revenge, he works as a barber and kills his clients while Mrs. Lovett runs a meat pie shop and uses the
people Todd kills for the pies. I will be discussing the performances and the way the pieces are
written. Therefore, I will not be able to talk about each track.

Lovett has just told Todd what had happened to his wife and daughter, and Todd is incredibly angry
and ready to kill the judge. After, Mrs. Lovett gives a case of Todd s old razors to him and says you
could be a Barber again . The song starts with a repetitive, hypnotic motion in the piano. Also vocally
this is awfully rigid and has a whispery quality to it. Todd goes into a trance like state and the only
entity he can focus on is the razors. As the song goes on Mrs. Lovett chimes in with telling Todd how
she fancies him, but Todd remains fully invested in his razors almost as if they were another human
being. The number closes with Todd in immense triumph as he states at last my right arm is complete
again . The performances in this number are okay, Michael Cerveris has a fine grasp of this character.
The joy is heard in his voice towards the conclusion of the song when he s talking about what he will
achieve with the razors. Yet throughout the song he s incredibly staccato on his sections where he
should be legato, it s fairly distracting. While Patti LuPone has an odd way of shaping her vowels, this
makes it difficult to hear her text. Also the speed in the section where Todd and Lovett are singing
together is too slow. It s a point in immense joy for both of them and the music should be faster
because of that. Overall the track isn t the best version of My Friends out there, however it s still
enjoyable to hear with the new

Traditional Health Care Costs In The United States
Health care costs in the US have been an area of significant concern over the last decade. In 2013 total
spending on health care was $2.9 trillion and consumed 42% of federal revenues. Despite the high
cost of care, America s health seems to pale in comparison to other developed countries. Blame is
often assigned to poor health policy, an aging and overweight population, and inefficient systems that
involve unnecessary testing and extended hospital stays. While all of these factors undoubtedly play a
role, perhaps it is the very foundations and methodologies of western medicine that are causing the
uncontrollable climb of health care costs.

Aware of this situation, our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir felt that Malaysian citizens
should also been taught of the good values of the Japanese in order to accelerate the development of
Malaysia s economy.
Therefore, in the early reign of Tun Dr. Mahathir as a Prime Minister in 1982, he launched a policy
called the Look East Policy (LEP) which does not only just focus on Japan, but South Korea and
Taiwan as well. Taken from The Mahathir Years
The policy started by initiatively sending students of Malaysia to academic institutions in Japan to
learn not only academically, but also the good values and positive work ethics in achieving the overall
objective that is to hasten the economic and social development in Malaysia.
We never intended to simply ape everything Japanese; indeed, we were well aware that outright

society and see nothing wrong in the actions and results being made. Their belief is in the system that
happiness is the ultimate goal and the actions are not as important as the overall happiness of the
general public. There were no rules set that hindered what the citizens could do to make a majority of
them happy, so imprisoning the child was not a significant issue to them. So rather than making
everyone suffer a little, the child will suffer forever so the rest do not. While it in itself may be
horrible, they view it as a way which increases the utility of the people which makes the actions
morally worthy. Additionally, their perspective is that the people that leave Omelas due to not agreeing
with the situation is good as well. The reason for that is because they are making the overall happiness
level stay the same because the people that are unhappy are leaving the city all together. The
deontological view is better than the utilitarianism view because utilitarianism just worries about the
greater good enjoying happiness, no matter the circumstances that an individual suffers. While
deontology views the incident as that no one should suffer to make everyone happier, and everyone
should be able to enjoy happiness without suffrage. Because if one

Sketches By Boz – Passage.Charles Dickens’ Language In
Sketches by Boz Passage Charles Dickens language in the passage suggests gloominess the motif of
darkness is present throughout. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene a
sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it would
be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere,
foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The
word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field of
abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the Government) of
essentially neglecting its citizens by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation
euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic tone in
the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a widely held
belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises the idea of
understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a working class
environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they endured. The rich and
Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that they did not follow the
Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to reverse this widespread opinion.
Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could be seen as un Christian , such as
alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often classed as immorality , of which many are
suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor. But while doing this he also challenges the view
that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of
the police, force who gaze listlessly is a disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is
perhaps a consequence of the low pay in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The
police had been set up for some time and were not yet considered

Student Nurse Reflective Essay
On July 10th, I received a patient into care at 1915hrs, she was admitted with nausea and vomiting and
later diagnosed with Clostridium difficile. At the beginning of the shift, I checked her vital signs as a
part of my routine assessment I found the patient was tachypneic, tachycardic and had pitting edema.
When asked, the patient said it was normal for her to have high respirations and a high heart rate. The
patient s history and progress notes had no mention of these issues, I notified the primary nurse and
she told me to monitor the situation. The patient s situation did not feel right, I reassessed her and her
respirations continued to increase to 39 resp/min and her O2 saturation was 88% 90% on room air. I

I ll get the nurse and she can tell me what to do. This is an example of my biggest barrier to
transitioning from a student nurse to a registered nurse. I do not have full confidence in my nursing
judgement and I have become somewhat accustomed to my judgement being checked by an instructor
or preceptor In this instance, I trusted my instinct, I put the patient on 2L of oxygen and reassessed the
patient s O2 saturation, it increased to 95%. I knew that because I have had experiences with patients
with low O2 saturation in the past clinical rotations. For the other issues, I was not sure how to move
forward, I notified my preceptor and she stated that the doctor needs to be called for new orders. I was
thinking over the scenario and trying to predict what order the doctor would give, at the time I had no
idea. The doctor ordered Lasix IV push, Ventolin and Atrovent. I knew that Lasix is used to excrete
fluids from the body and Ventolin/Atrovent allow the patient to breathe better. Eventually, I was able
to figure it out; the patient was given too much fluid

Character Flaws Desna Character
With representation in television shows, it is often important that we, as an audience, find characters
to relate to, as well as give us stories or interests that we can relate to in order for them to be
considered a protagonist or as many would say the hero . Desna Sims, the main character of the hit TV
show Claws, captures this essence perfectly throughout the show through humor and various
situations that can often be relatable for some viewers. Through Desna s behaviors and endeavors, this
has allowed the public to perceive her meaning of perseverance on, what it really means to be a strong
woman in times of controversy through the life she has been chosen to portray for television audiences
everywhere. To fully characterize, Desna, as the main protagonist we must first understand what a
protagonist is. A protagonist is the first actor in a play; thence the principal actor or character, perhaps
one of the most prominent figures in a real situation (Cuddon 565). Moreover, being the protagonist is
about pursuing the main goal of the plot of the story. Desna is the epitome of this as she starts with
humble beginnings she raises her brother, delving in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kittredge A Case Of Witchcraft Summary
In the article, A Case of Witchcraft by G. L. Kittredge, the main issue is that a majority of men and
women were accused of witchcraft; which led to an excessive amount of torture and executions.
Kittredge argues that with large bulks of documents and recordings of witch trials lost, we are unable
to comprehend the prosecutions unless we have a better grasp of the mindset that many people had
during that time. George Lyman Kittredge is an outstanding professor and English literature scholar
from Harvard University. Additionally, he has experienced a great number of historical commodities,
as well as becoming one of the most influential American literary critics of the early 20th century.
Kittredge uses a multitude of examples from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether the accused persons were ever brought to trial we do not know, but it is clear that Ridgeway
had these documents prepared for eventual use at the assizes (Kittridge, 1917, 6). Kittredge makes
opinions based off the readings and instances to comprehend what was going on at the time and build
a better argument. There are a copious amount of strengths in Kittredges article. First of all, one of the
strengths would be that he utilizes strong vocabulary and sentences that increases the impact of his
argument. This allows readers to understand his view so that he can more freely express his opinions,
for example when he states that, The precise meaning of this railing speech escapes me, but I fancy it
was equivalent to calling John a scatter brained fool. The phrase reminds one, though perhaps
whimsically, of Pandar s contemptuous Yea, hazelwood! in Chaucer s Troilus. We may also adduce,
tentatively, the common saying Your wits are gone wool gathering (Kittredge, 1917, 8). He constantly
helps inform the readers by writing his thoughts, assisting them to conceive his ideas as well as using
strong words to guide the readers in what he is trying to say. Additionally, his work is thorough, clear,
and significant, as he

The Negative Behavior In The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer By...
In The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn s motivation for positive and
negative behavior sprouts from the way that they were raised and their lives: similarly yet differently.
Tom and Huck act differently and have different attitudes toward the situations that occur to them.
While Tom is content with being honest about the murder of Dr. Robinson, Huck is paranoid and
freaks out when he tells of Injun Joe talking about getting revenge on the Widow. Tom would have
told immediately, but Huck only reported it in a spurt of adrenaline from his terrified state of mind.
The two seem the same but, under the surface, are not. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are both
rebellious in their own ways. Before the murder of Dr. Robinson at midnight, Tom and Huck are in the
graveyard trying to expel warts with a dead cat. Tom, who snuck out, is being disobedient by leaving
the house without permission. In this way and many others, Tom is rebellious, The boys moved off
and disappeared in the gloom (Twain 70). After Widow Douglas took Huck in, Huck has always been
rebellious, Huck had slept there; he had breakfast upon some stolen odds and ends of food, and was
lying off... (Twain 204). This quote explains what Huck does to show that he is rebellious. ... Show

The Importance Of NASA Spying
On the other hand, it is important for any nation to understand that sometimes it is necessary to invest
money in such projects that promise of much return at a later stage. In that context it is a fact that
space is a place that is full of much potential. The discoveries of the future will be made in the space.
It may be some new element or a new way of tapping the energy. Space is a place that is indeed
promising and full of much promise. In that context it is vital that the United States of America invest
more money in space exploration by dedicating more funds to NASA in the space budget. For

The Cold War has ended; therefore there is no socialist USSR against whom the nation needs to prove
itself. They agree that NASA did make great discoveries in the past, but now it is time that the
government should withdraw its funding to the space program at the earliest. The US is already
slipping back in terms of welfare measures as compared to Europe and China. However, the element is
that space exploration and space technology is something that requires massive funds. If the
government withdraws its funding to NASA, all the space research and exploration may come to a
halt. The private companies may not invest funds in such space projects that do not promise
immediate results. Hence, the government does need to fund NASA to keep the space program alive
and affordable. Withdrawing the government support to NASA may bring the space programs to a

The Effect Of Temperature On The Ph Of Orange Juice
My question is Does the temperature of a substance effect it s ph?. I will be testing this by using ph
indicator strips that change color when it comes in contact with an acid or a base and comparing it
with a color chart. The substances I will be using are vinegar, orange juice , and lemon juice. These
can all be found at a local grocery store. The ph paper and color chart can be found at Walmart.
Besides my experiment there have been other experiments that have tested temperature s effect on ph.
They also wanted to know whether temperature affects the ph. I found an experiment online called
Effect of Temperature on the pH of orange juice done by students from Nease High School. Unlike my
project, they only tested Orange Juice. They used 5 different temperatures, and the result was that the
temperature had no effect. Another experiment I found online called Does storage temperature affect
the ph of Orange Juice by Anna Elizondo also only used Orange Juice. Her results were that the juice
was more acidic at a hot temperature. The last experiment i found was on the lines of my experiment,
but was more about my hypothesis. It was called Does Storage Temperature Affect Orange Juice s
Acidity? . Like the other experiments, this one only used Orange Juice. They used ph paper to measure
the acidity at 40 degrees 50 degrees over the span of 2 days. Their conclusion was that the ph was still
the same. I will be using cold cups of vinegar, orange juice,

To solve problems with manure storage farmers face, the BC Environmental Plan Program suggests to
have facilities designed by a professional engineer whether of earthen, concrete or metal construction,
size to enable the wastes to be stored until it can be spread as a fertilizer, cover solid or semi solid
manure storages in high rainfall climates, incorporate leak detection with semi solid and liquid
storages, incorporate secondary containment with liquid storages, protect from 100 year flood events,

according to the BC Environmental Plan Program , The best current option for manure disposal is in
application to crops as a fertilizer to provide nutrients or to improve soil conditions but it can also be

  • 3. Blood Transfusion Blood transfusion is the process of transferring blood from one person, which is the donor, to another person, which is the recipient. The earliest research of blood transfusion started in the 17th century, a British physician named William Harvey discovered the circulation and properties of blood, which then inspired others to operate blood transfusions. This led to the first successful blood transfusion in 1665, which was performed by Richard Lower in England. He managed to save a severely injured dog by transfusing blood from another dog through a tied artery. The introduction of blood transfusion made a huge impact on humans, because it plays an important role in saving millions of lives each year. Blood transfusion is performed when a ... Lastly, the bitter taste buds are located in the far back of the tongue. There are some taste buds on the palate that pick up different tastes (Smith, David). Smell, on the other hand, is the sense that comes from odor molecules attaching to the olfactory nerve. Air carries the odor into the nose. Then odor contacts the olfactory nerves at the top of the nasal passages. The the olfactory nerves send a signal to the olfactory bulb of the brain, and the nerve sends a signal to the front of the brain. The forebrain translates the signals of the odor into a specific smell (Swindle, Mark). Smell and taste are so interrelated that many scientists think that taste is about 80% of aroma and 20% actual taste (American Academy of Otolaryngology). It changes as people age, the sense of smell seems to be better in adults than in kids. Usually at age 60 or over, adults may start to lose their sense of smell. Scientists have proven that women have a better sense of smell than men. People who have head injuries often lose their sense of smell and lose weight because the taste of the food they eat has been impaired through the injury. Also, people with sinus problems or upper respiratory problems lose weight because of a decreased sense of smell and appetite (American Academy of Otolaryngology). In previous studies, Frank and Byram s article suggest that taste and smell interactions are dependent on taste and odor. In their experiments, they gave subjects strawberry ... • 5. The Importance Of English Settlement In America In the early sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the English were interested and capable of settling in the New World. Not only did the English have motive for settling, but at the time they also had the resources to do so. There were many hardships in the path of them doing this, however the English were persistent in making their lives in the New World work. For many European counties, the New World seemed to be a place to expand their empires, gain riches, and spread their faith. Starting with Christopher Columbus discovering the Caribbean in the name of Spain and starting a settlement on Hispaniola, he then started the imperial competition for land. With gold having been made a common use for all European currencies, the demand for it rose. After Spain had raided and taken control on Tenochitlán and returned with many riches, it caught the English eye to start to try and colonize. Spain and England soon became deadly rivals and begun to try to surpass one another in the race for North America. Jamestown was the first successful colony for the English in 1607. The start of one colony was the hunger to start more. Following the Renaissance (1300 A.D 1700 A.D), people were seeking ways to explore the mysteries of nature and navigate around the world. Europeans were fast to laud over the exemplary feats accomplished by scientists, explorers, writers, and philosophers. The strength of such praise encouraged many to become more interested in discovering new lands and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Who does it then? His madness. If t be so, Hamlet is of the faction that is wrong d; His madness is poor Hamlet s enemy. (V.ii.230 235) Hamlet s self description in his apology to Laertes, delivered in the appropriately distanced and divided third person, explicitly fingers the greatest antagonist of the play‹consciousness. The chief definition of thought revolves around the basic concept of the mental process: The action or process of thinking; mental action or activity in general, esp. that of the intellect; exercise of the mental faculty; formation and arrangement of ideas in the mind (OED, 1a). A further subset of definitions can be catalogued into a Manichean vision of positives and negatives and which equally apply to Hamlet s central consideration of consciousness as a blessing or a curse. There is a stress on thought s potentiality which fits with Hamlet s obsession with the infinitude of man: Conception, imagination, fancy (OED, 4c). But following this comes the negative view of thought as quasi action, a direct link to Hamlet s stall tactics: The entertaining of some project in the mind; the idea or notion of doing something, as contemplated or entertained in the mind; hence, intention, purpose, design; esp. an imperfect or half formed intention; with negative expressed or implied = not the least intention or notion of doing something (OED, 4d). Similarly, the past neutral sense of Remembrance, Œmind (OED, 5e) is countered by the negative anticipatory connotation of: Anxiety or distress of mind; solicitude; grief, sorrow, trouble, care, vexation (OED, 5a). America was at its peak in the 1920 s and with the fame of its opportunity, safety and freedom came newcomers from other countries came looking for just this, but instead of basking in the alleged pleasantness of the American Dream , the immigrants were scrutinized, disrespected, and were limited from many rights, they were discriminated against How was Discrimination Doled Out? Ethnic minorities are sometimes today, and back then, consistently the victims of anti immigrant bias which, of course, always favored American born citizens. The USA born natives often resented the immigrants for their hard work, determination and success. They would also experience anger whenever the newcomers went against the grain. All this resent and anger resulted in many negative stereotypes that fueled antagonism towards many ethnicities. Latin Americans are becoming increasing targets to biased crimes. These stereotypes have a long history that started in California and southwest America where in periods of anti immigrant movements, both new settlers and veteran US citizens of Hispanic descent were unfairly blamed for social and economic problems, and were also victims of harassment and, at the worst, deportation. Long standing bias against Pacific Americans is also existent. In fact, in 1882 the Chinese exclusion act which barred Chinese laborers from entering the US was legalized. • 11. My Interest On Computer Science Essay Google Essay What sparked your interest in computer science? How did this lead you to major in computer science and what do you hope to accomplish with your degree? In your answer, please describe how your experiences have influenced the goals you have for yourself. Every human has a purpose and every purpose has an ordained path and beginning. My interest in computer science came to light as soon as I began to walk, talk and think independently. I always had the innate passion and desire to scrutinize electronic devices even though I was still a child with little understanding. Being a little kid, my access to computers were constrained, but nonetheless, I made the best out of every opportunity I had with them. Time flew by like a dove as I suddenly began to grow in wisdom, and also began to understand what life is all about. Immediately I graduated from high school, I applied for a 3 month full time computer training before making any preparation for college. Unbeknownst to me, I was actually on a direct path to discovering my true potential in computer science and engineering. Financially and physically, it was a burden commuting from my home down to the computer training center, but the intrinsic passion and desire to get my hands on electronic devices and to learn more about how computers really work made me overlook the struggle. • 12. Deborah King Celebrity Worship I would argue that America s fascination with celebrity worship can be just as damaging, if not more so, on a social level, than drugs and alcohol. Celebrity worship starts early in life, even as children. As kids, we fantasized about being G.I. Joe or the latest Disney Princess, and a few years later we shifted from fantasy to reality, now looking up to the latest celebrities like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Miley Cyrus. Today s society is obsessed with celebrities and it s not a good thing. I agree with Deborah King s claim and disagree with Collin Palmer s claim, because an obsession with celebrities steals the attention off of you, it causes you to waste a lot of your money, and the celebrities serve as bad role models. Although, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Celebrities expose teenagers to partying lifestyles, profanity and inequity towards each other, using each other as if they were objects, sex, drugs, discrimination and more. Let s take Lindsay Lohan for example. A star since age six, Lohan was America s favorite child, until she turned to drugs and alcohol. She s now famous to the younger audience for her alcohol and drug abuse, demonstrating a harmful, reckless lifestyle to teenagers. Teaching them to have fun, do what you want, and don t be scared of regulations and consequences. Another example, according to Deborah King, is Mel Gibson s problems with alcohol which encourages us to take it as well, thinking it s no harm. Another, celebrity who has a bad influence on us, is Miley Cyrus. Not so long ago, she was just a sweet little girl who was playing Hannah Montana on Disney Channel. But, now she s appearing naked in her music videos, smoking marijuana on stage, spitting on her audience, etc. All of this has became not only her normal behavior, but also her fans too. Although, sometimes celebrities serve as good role models, the bad ones impact us more. Celebrities consume us more than they ever have before. Never has America been so obsessed with celebrities. They steal the attention off of you, waste your money, and also serve as bad role models. This obsession has reached a point that I believe is entirely unhealthy for our society ... This Musical is about a barber Benjamin Barker/Sweeney Todd who s sent away by Judge Turpin because he wanted Todd s wife. Todd is told by his friend Mrs. Lovett that his wife died and his daughter Johanna is being kept by Turpin who is planning to marry her. Todd vows that he will take revenge on The Judge. As Sweeney awaits his revenge, he works as a barber and kills his clients while Mrs. Lovett runs a meat pie shop and uses the people Todd kills for the pies. Lovett has just told Todd what had happened to his wife and daughter, and Todd is incredibly angry and ready to kill the judge. After, Mrs. Lovett gives a case of Todd s old razors to him and says you could be a Barber again . The song starts with a repetitive, hypnotic motion in the piano. Also vocally this is awfully rigid and has a whispery quality to it. Todd goes into a trance like state and the only entity he can focus on is the razors. As the song goes on Mrs. Lovett chimes in with telling Todd how she fancies him, but Todd remains fully invested in his razors almost as if they were another human being. The number closes with Todd in immense triumph as he states at last my right arm is complete again . The performances in this number are okay, Michael Cerveris has a fine grasp of this character. The joy is heard in his voice towards the conclusion of the song when he s talking about what he will achieve with the razors. Yet throughout the song he s incredibly staccato on his sections where he should be legato, it s fairly distracting. While Patti LuPone has an odd way of shaping her vowels, this makes it difficult to hear her text. Also the speed in the section where Todd and Lovett are singing together is too slow. It s a point in immense joy for both of them and the music should be faster because of that. In 2013 total spending on health care was $2.9 trillion and consumed 42% of federal revenues. Despite the high cost of care, America s health seems to pale in comparison to other developed countries. Blame is often assigned to poor health policy, an aging and overweight population, and inefficient systems that involve unnecessary testing and extended hospital stays. In the story The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula Le Guin, the life of a young child is ignored and imprisoned in order to make others happy. However, the situation in Omelas can be approached in one or two ways, including either the deontological view or the utilitarianism view. The city of Omelas is portrayed to individuals as a welcoming place that is full of festivals and happiness. However, this is not the case since a young child is forced into imprisonment. Related to the city of Omelas, the ones that believe in utilitarianism would view Omelas as a good society and see nothing wrong in the actions and results being made. Their belief is in the system that happiness is the ultimate goal and the actions are not as important as the overall happiness of the general public. There were no rules set that hindered what the citizens could do to make a majority of them happy, so imprisoning the child was not a significant issue to them. So rather than making everyone suffer a little, the child will suffer forever so the rest do not. While it in itself may be horrible, they view it as a way which increases the utility of the people which makes the actions morally worthy. Additionally, their perspective is that the people that leave Omelas due to not agreeing with the situation is good as well. The reason for that is because they are making the overall happiness level stay the same because the people that are unhappy are leaving the city all together. The deontological view is better than the utilitarianism view because utilitarianism just worries about the greater good enjoying happiness, no matter the circumstances that an individual suffers. While deontology views the incident as that no one should suffer to make everyone happier, and everyone should be able to enjoy happiness without suffrage. Because if one ... The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene a sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it would be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere, foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field of abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the Government) of essentially neglecting its citizens by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor. But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time and were not yet considered ...
