The Generation Of The World Essay
This distinction allows Athanasius to argue that the Arians had confused the ideas of offspring
with creature and the verbs to beget with to create. What becomes apparent from the above
Athanasian text is that the decisive factor which defines the distinction between offspring and
creature is the person of the Father and his role in the generation of the Son and the creation of
the world. Athanasius task becomes proving that the Father is portrayed in the Bible as
personally involved in the generation of the Son as opposed to the creatures who exist outside
of him. In this effort he turns to Psalms and examines three texts: Psalm 2:7 ( The Lord said to
me, My son you are; today I have begotten you ), Psalm 44:2 ( My heart spoke a good word ), and
Psalm 109:3 ( From the womb, before Morning star, I brought you forth ) and synthesizes them
with verses speaking of the Father s direct relation to the Son (Matt. 3:17; John 8:42; 6:46).
Matt. 3:17, 17:5
The Father s personal relationship with the Son is perhaps nowhere more evident than in the
baptism and transfiguration (Mat. 3:17, 17:5; Mark 1:11, 9:7; Luke 3:22, 9:35). Traditionally
interpreted along Trinitarian terms Athanasius makes use of this voluntary declaration of the Father
with the Son as describing Jesus natural sonship. By focusing on the Father s initiative as an
unprecedented occurrence he argues that if the generation of the Son did not differ essentially from
the creation of other beings and he were

Human Social Perception Of Social Psychology
Human Social Perception in Empirical Literature
Human social perception is area of study within social psychology that involves the complex
cognitive system that is personal to each individual. Since each person has a unique cognitive
system, interpretation of social situations is unique to each individual. The differences in cognition
and perception between different people allows for varied interpretations, accurate perceptions,
and misperceptions. Social perception is an interesting topic that has been largely researched by a
multitude of social psychologists. The goal of this paper is to provide a brief description of social
psychology, a summary of social perception, some of its forms and uses, misperception, and
accuracy in perception.
Brief Description of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the scientific field that focuses on the individual within society. Due to this
individualistic focus, people are often studied experimentally within or in relation to social
environments. Social psychology studies the effects of social processes and cognitive processes on
the way individuals perceive, influence, and relate to others, in a systematic way, using scientific
methods (Smith Mackie, 2007). Due to the complexity of the human body and mind, social
psychology is a vast field that has been explored by many experts. As social creatures, people
interact constantly within an environment that requires complex cognitive and perceptual
processes. As a result, the

Nuclear Weapons Are The Most Deadly
Nuclear weapons are the most deadly, destructive, and powerful form of technology that the world
has ever created. Officially, only 9 states out of 196 in the international arena have possession of
them. Although nuclear weapons are being eliminated by states, they still hold a significant value
for nations in the IR arena with a nuclear annihilation capacity. States within the international
community that own nuclear arsenals are automatically feared and respected because of the status
symbol they hold. Conversely, this prestige, power, and influence can also back fire on states and
become a disadvantage. States can lose power in the international community by causing tensions
and dividing themselves between states who don t have these nuclear advantages. France is one
country in particular that resembles a superpower with nuclear capability. France has gained power
in the International community through NATO due to their possession of nuclear weapons.
Overall, nuclear weapons still represent a great power in the International Arena today and will
continue holding that power. The ability to produce and launch dangerous, nuclear weapons help
states earn a negotiation power in the international community because nuclear power is equated to
political power. A state that owns nuclear weapons is feared, respected, and seen as a country that
nobody wants to wage a war with, because of the threat of nuclear annihilation. Once a state has
possession of nuclear weapons it becomes a

Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates Essay
Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates
Naked women have been in the front of feminist s minds for several decades. Especially when they
are pictured in soft pornography magazine Playboy. Feminists for years have been yelling that
Playboy is harmful to both men and women. Males around the country have countered that there is
nothing wrong with their Playboy, it is merely a harmless vice. The problem I see with Playboy is
not that it demeans women or subjugates them, and its not that it leads to violence. The main
problem is that it fosters unrealistic images and expectation in men s minds about women. But
since there is little we can do about it now, we merely need to take that first step and recognize
Playboy for what it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I interviewed one person on each side of this issue, to get the token opinion that is popular on
their side of the issue. On this side is Ursula, an extremely quotable quasi feminist who makes a
strong case for her side.[1] Ursula sums up the feminist argument by saying, Guys see the idealized
sex goddess, how can women compete? First and foremost feminists argue that the idea of a naked
woman in a magazine is degrading to that woman in particular and to women as a whole; Playboy
and men s magazines in general make women out to be sex objects (Burstyn, 42). Playboy
objectifies women, leaving out the human side (Burstyn, 43). Feminists also say that soft
pornography leads to hard pornography which can then lead to violent crimes against women. Rick
Heibert in his article A hard line against soft porn says that psychologists have found that viewing
soft pornography inevitably leads to harder material (par 4). Others would take this a step further
and contend that the viewing of violent pornography then leads to an increased likelihood of
committing a violent sexual crime (Cramer 202). These articles would present statistical research
backing themselves up, more likely than not the Meese Commission will make it in to any feminist
critique.
Feminists present a third argument saying that magazines such as Playboy lead to depression or
anorexia in women, especially amongst impressionable young women (Chancer, 85). There is little
argument against teenagers

Qrt Floods Essay
The weather of the months leading up to the South East Queensland floods not only gives an
indication of the weather patterns before the flood, but shows the continuity and change in the
weather, which ended up causing this catastrophic natural disaster. The SE QLD floods was the
result of a continuum of a build up of conditions, which can be seen in the synoptic charts.
As seen in the Mid September month, there were many high pressure systems of 1025+
hectopascals affecting australia, in particular the south west areas of the country. The ridges of the
high pressure systems impacted the North east parts of Australia as well, including most of QLD.
This caused clear skies, and dry weather seen in most of QLD, with some areas having their ... Show

With the dominant cold front impacting the south and south east area of the state, more prominent
rainfall was found, in which QLD experienced wet and generally warm days in the north, and wet
and cool days in the south east. On the 25th of the month, North Queensland was impacted from the
low pressure system condition, bringing heavy rain, for example most of the Cairns region
recorded more than 200mm during the week. With a trough extending from Northern Territory to
QLD also brought strengthened conditions to this area of the country. This trough is the beginning
of an easterly dip, which are good sources of flood conditions. This weather in November
impacted this area of QLD greatly, meaning as the disaster unfolded, the conditions of SE QLD
aided the disaster to have an even greater impact.

The November month was the month leading up to the SE Qld floods. From the synoptic charts, the
conditions evident show the ultimate lead up in conditions for the natural disaster. The pressure
systems have moved southerly, in which QLD is not being significantly impacted by many pressure
systems. A High pressure system in the East of Australia of 1023 hectopascals is lightly impacting
the state, bringing warmer temperatures, in which 76% of the state experience

All Falls Down By Kanye West
Today many people feel compelled to buy anything or everything with an expensive price tag. This
includes Expensive designer clothes, latest gadgets, expensive vehicles and many other similar
things. This form of consumerism has embedded itself in today s society; where it s encouraged to
invest in such materialistic possessions. Kanye Westis an African American rapper, producer, and
entrepreneur, who articulates his struggle with consumerism and the struggle for those around him
in his song All Falls Down. West, utilizes puns, rhyme, and juxtaposition to highlight the issues
surrounding materialism that can be interpreted differently by different listeners such as African
Americans and White Americans.
In the first verse, West introduces a woman who has her problems with materialism. To elaborate on
her condition, Kanye uses a pun by stating:
She s so precious with the peer pressure,
Couldn t afford a car, so she named her daughter Alexis.
West s clever use of a pun illustrates how the woman couldn t afford a Lexus so she named her
daughter Alexis. Alluding to the Japanese high end car manufacturer... Show more content on

harassment by the police. Throughout the song, West brings forward key issues regarding the
black bling aesthetic. A recurring motif in many hip hop songs today. West in his song All Falls
Down points out that Material aspirations and such worldly possession are just another way to heal
the inner void within people. This void can take place through insecurities or any form of traumatic
experiences. Every person has such a void within themselves Therefore a person will interpret this
song from their different standpoint which will come from the listener s background of

In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinso, Categorical...
In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson, the story follows Ruth and Lucille as they pass through
the care of their mother, grandmother, great aunts, and finally their mother s transient sister, Sylvie.
While Ruth is generally passively accepting of the care or lack thereof that she receives from these
women, no matter how unconventional, Lucille purposefully sets herself against Sylvie. After
existing outside of the boundaries that society imposes for the majority of her adult life, Sylvie is
unable to provide the structured normality to which Lucille so desperately cleaves. In their own
methods of seeking happiness, Sylvie prefers a fluid way of housekeeping, while Lucille needs
strict adherence to convention. The polar relationship that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even while Sylvie is trying to live without boundaries, in the way that she claims makes her feel the
most at peace, she contemplates suicide. She walked up the bank, and stood looking across the
bridge for a moment, and then she began carefully, tie by tie, out onto it. Slowly she walked on
and on, until she was perhaps fifty feet out over the water... I ve always wondered what it would
be like. (81 82) Sylvie knows that the only way to live unrestricted is to die, much the way Helen
did. In reality, however, society even places restrictions death. While the decedent may not be
sentient and aware of such things, the categories of natural death, accidental death, and suicide are
all seen within Housekeeping, and are a way of defining the lives of those who die after their
deaths. However, it is her earthly restrictions her obligations to Ruth and Lucille that prevent Sylvie
from committing suicide.
In extreme contrast, Lucille has boundaries, and if society has an expectation, Lucille is going to
follow it. Though the community did not peer through the windows at suppertime, Lucille requires
complete normalcy from herself at all times. She insisted on light at suppertime. She found three
place settings of china and began demanding meat and vegetables. (102) These demands are not
unreasonable, but for a child to be requiring such things rather than grilled cheese sandwiches is
odd what kid

Escherichia And Gram Staining
Most bacteria are classified as either gram positive or gram negative. Gram positive is a purple stain
and gram negative will appear pink or red. Gram negative can cause many kinds of infections.
One type of bacteria is Escherichia which is a rod shaped bacteria. A Gram stain is used in lab
setting to identify what type of bacteriais present. A sample is placed in a nutrient media and
incubated. This media will encourage bacteria growth present. This process allows for further
testing and to identify what kind of bacteria is present to allow for appropriate treatment.

Impact Of The Revolt Of 1857
Colonialism:
Sometimes most of the people think that colonialism and imperialism are same political cocepet.
But they were wrong as both Colonialism and Imperialism means political and economic
domination of the other yet the tow word have two different meaning. Colonialism is where one
nation assumes control over the other and Imperialism refers to political or economic control, either
formally or informally. In simple words, colonialism can be thought to be a practice and
imperialism as the idea driving the practice.
In full simple language we can describe, when a nation takes controls of other nation full power to
control the same nation that s mean colonialism. In the way ofcolonialism a nation goes totally in

Impact of the Revolt of 1857:
A major impact on our national movement occured after the Revolt of 1857.
Against the British rule all classes of people combined and brought together for the first time. The
revolt end to East India Company s rule, along with changes in the British policy towards Indian
States and it gave rise to nationalism. Indian people became more aware of their heroes, who
sacrificed their lives to save the country. So that others might live in free India in times to come.
The revolt scarred the relationship between Hindus and Muslims with the Divide and Rule Policy
which was adopted by the British. They thought if they wanted to continue their rule in India, it was
important to divide the Hindus and Muslims.
All can say that British give changes in every sector of India. The latest faster weapons of that
time were come in hand with the help of them. They also contribute a lot in combination,
education sector and also in many other ways. But they made all lives miserable. They give us all
those kinds of things just because they also use the Indian as a toy of own will. As they give more

Thomas Hobbes Social Contract Theory
Social Contract Theory is the view that a persons moral and/or political obligations are dependent
upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live. It is rightly
associated with modern moral and political theory and is given its first full exposition and defense
by Thomas Hobbes(Friend). Thomas Hobbes, an English philosopher (1588 1679), lived through a
very vital period of the English Civil War, which lasted from 1642 1648. During this time, the King
and the Monarchists wanted the traditional authority of a monarchy, while the Parliamentarians did
not. Hobbes had an important role in this, because he symbolized a settlement between the two
groups. Not only did he reject the theory of the Divine Right of Kings, he also rejected the
Parliamentarians democratic view that power should be shared between the King and Parliament.
He possesses both radical and conservative characteristics because he rejects both views.
One could divide Hobbes political theory into two parts: the first being his theory of human
motivation followed by his theory of the social contract, which is based off the theoretical State of
Nature. Hobbes theory of human motivation, better known as Psychological Egoism, is the thesis
that we are always deep down motivated by what we perceive to be in our own self interest
(Friend). The second part of his theory is based on the social contract, which was established on the
theoretical State of Nature. Hobbes published the

What were the two greatest successes and two greatest failures of the Wilson government 1964 70?
This period of Labour rule is often marked down as a poor performance on behalf of the labour
party, critically looked upon by many historians. There were many failings under the rule of this
government however the circumstances they were placed in caused severe restraints in their options.
Wilson had been voted into government with the promise of central planning and the white heat of
new technology , catching the mood of the moment, and making the public believe he was not just
another old bumbling politician, but one who showed some promise in getting the country moving,

Surrealism: The Global Impact of the Puzzling Art Movement
Imagine having the ability to observe an entirely new universe not yet explored by the human eye.
Visualize having the ability to completely free your imagination, letting your thoughts and desires
wander to form exotic scenes or locations. These unfamiliar worlds lay deep inside of the brain as
subconscious thoughts, usually undetected by the person with them in his or her possession. With
the help of the intriguing art movement known as Surrealism, however, these subconscious
thoughts are finally able to be brought to fruition. Surrealism is a unique style of art that originated
in France with the help of brilliant writer AndrГ© Breton (Chilvers 599). He defined surrealism and
its principles as a purely psychic automatism through which we undertake to express, in words,
writing, or any other activity, the actual functioning of thought... Surrealism rests upon belief in the
higher reality of specific forms of associations, previously neglected, in the omnipotence of dreams,
and in the disinterested play of thinking (Chilvers 599). He also strongly emphasized that its
purpose was to resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality into an absolute
reality, a super reality (Chilvers 599). Surrealism is a 20th century style of painting which rebels
against traditional notions of art. In order to understand this genre, it is necessary to examine the
movement s characteristics, representative

Smoking Causes And Its Effects On College Students
Introduction
Smoking cessation programs have been made available on college campuses in order to promote
better health of smokers and non smokers alike, as both smokers and non smokers are affected by
the effects that cigarettes have on their physical health. Cigarette smoke is one of the leading
causes of death in the United States. Cigarettes are linked to many health problems such as:
Smoking causes stroke and coronary heart disease, which are among the leading causes of death in
the United States.
Even people who smoke fewer than five cigarettes a day can have early signs of cardiovascular
disease.
Smoking damages blood vessels and can make them thicken and grow narrower. This makes your
heart beat faster and your blood pressure increases. Clots can also form.
A stroke occurs when:
A clot blocks the blood flow to part of your brain;
A blood vessel in or around your brain bursts.
Blockages caused by smoking can also reduce blood flow to your legs and skin.
As provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention ( Health Effects of , 2017).
Although, tobacco use in the United States has decreased over the past twenty, Cigarette use is
currently high among college students. These results were proven by students, from about twelve
Texas universities or colleges, that took an online survey. This survey concluded that instead of
restricting the use of tobacco universities and colleges should concentrate on enforcing education
and smoking prevention programs reduce the use of cigarettes by students.
There are many smoking cessation programs available and in many available to enable schools to

In his second term, Truman chaired a special committee to investigate the National Defense
Program to prevent war profiteering and wasteful spending in defense industries. He gained
public support and recognition for his straightforward reports and practical recommendations,
and he won the respect of his colleagues and the populace alike. Vice Presidency When FDR had
to choose a running mate for the 1944 presidential election, he deemed his acting vice president,
Henry Wallace, unacceptable. Wallace was disliked by many of the senior democrats in
Washington, and since it was apparent that Roosevelt might not survive his fourth term, the vice
presidential pick was especially important. Truman s popularity, as well as his reputation as a
fiscally responsible man and a defender of citizens rights, made him an attractive option. Truman
was initially reluctant to accept, but once he received the nomination, he campaigned vigorously.

How To Write An Autobiography Of Savannah
Early in the morning on the African savannah the sun begins to emerge from the horizon. The
morning sun continues to rise turning the sky a beautiful blood orange color. All types of animals
are called to attention by an African tribal chant; Nants ingonyama bagithi baba!
Groups of animals emerge from the thick fog walking across the grassy savannah. A flock of
flamingos fly across the still crystal water. Herds of antelope hop like frogs through the morning
mist. Meanwhile, a mother giraffe and her calf walk out from the shadows into the warm sunlight.
They stand on a grassy hill and notice below them groups of animals walking in the same
direction. They prance down the hill eager to join them. As they do this, a colonel of red ants

animals gather. Zazu, a small blue bird with a large orange beak flies to the ledge. He bows with
gratitude to Mufasa, a strong powerful lion with a thick red mane. Emerging from the crowd of
animals Rafiki, an elderly baboon with white hair, slowly climbs up the ledge. He hugs Mufasa

Mufasa and Surabhi rubs their heads together showing their love for each other. Surabhi licks

Charter Of Rights And Freedoms Essay
In Canada, we as Canadians live in a country in which our values are protected and respected, and
this is all thanks to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. As a part of the Canadian
Constitution, the Charter sets out those rights and freedoms that Canadians believe are necessary
in our country. Since its enactment in 1982, the Charter has improved all Canadian citizen s ability
to participate in society.1 So, today, I am here to convince you that the Charter is a key contributor
to Canadaas it helped shaped Canada into the nation it is today.
To begin, the Charter guarantees the rights of individuals and allows Canadians to live in a free and
democratic society. It is organized into different sections such as fundamental freedoms, democratic
rights, mobility rights, language rights, and so on.1 To help you further understand the Charter, let

Formally, the Canadian Constitution was a British law as Canada was still controlled by Great
Britain. Looking at a historical perspective, we see that creating the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms was a declaration of Canadian independence from Britain. This allowed Canada to
create our own laws to directly address Canadian issues. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms is
historically significant as it was a huge jump in Canadian development. Before the Charter was
approved, other Canadian laws that protected our rights and freedoms were combined in order to
create the charter, such as the Canadian Bill of Rights.2 The Bill of Rights enacted in 1960 and
was replaced by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.4 Although many of the same rights and
freedoms protected by the Charter were included in the Bill of Rights, the Charter enhances the

John Stewart Mill s The Subjection Of Women
In chapter III of The Subjection of Women, John Stewart Mill contends with the claims that women
are unfit to hold public office, due to their mental weakness, nervous energy, and their inability to
focus on singular problems. He also refutes the claim that women are inherently unequal because
they have not had the same successes as men in various fields. In Chapter IV, Mill lays out his
arguments for why granting women more freedom would be beneficial in that it would increase
utility. He begins by asserting that child rearing, in his time, bolsters injustice, and has a negative
impact on the character of men. He then argues that women s equality would double the mental
faculties of society. He further argues that women who are uneducated have a bad influence upon
men, and that increasing women s liberty would have a betterimpact on society as a whole. Finally,
he argues that further genderequality would allow women to understand when sacrifices need be
made for the betterment of society. Mill s arguments are sound, however he misses opportunities to
strengthen his claims. This essay concludes with some additional arguments that Mill could have
added to increase the effectiveness of his arguments.
In Chapter III of The Subjection of Women, Mill addresses and criticizes arguments that have
claimed that women are inferior to men. The first argument he addresses is that women are unfit to
hold public because they are mentally inferior. To argue against this idea, Mill

On November 10, 2016 I attended Elf the Broadway Musical written by David Berrenbaum and
directed by Sam Scalamoni. Elf the Broadway Musical was produced by Texas A M University
and MSC OPAS. It was a comedic musical that appealed to a wide variety of audience members.
Elf the Broadway Musical was a delightful surprise, since I had seen Elf (film) I expected the
play to appeal more to a younger audience, but I was surprised when I found myself laughing
alongside the two children sitting next to me. Before, I had seen this play I had been to a
handful of other popular plays such as The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Beauty and the
Beast, and Cinderella. For whatever reason I was not very excited to attend Elf the Broadway
Musical, but the second the play began I knew that my opinion was about to change. As the play
continued, I was in complete awe of this play from the plot, the acting, and the technical side of
the production. Overall this play was an amazing way to put the entire audience into a holiday
spirit and remind us what the holiday season is about. Elf the Broadway Musical is about an
orphan boy, Buddy, who crawls into Santa s toy sack and is taken back to the North Polewhere
Buddy is raised by elves. Eventually, it is revealed that Buddy is a human contrary to his belief
that he is also an elf. This shocking, yet obvious truth leads him on a quest to find his dad, Walter

Abortion Is Terminating A Fetus Before The Baby
Abortion is terminating a fetus before the baby is capable of living. Currently, there is a debate

How s the Pancreas Forecast Today? The list shows that the following organs such as the hearts,

Government Privacy Analysis
How much do you know about the American government? Does the government respect the
privacy of their citizens? Is the government violating Americans privacy? In 2013 a guy named
Edward Snowden released government files that prove that the government has a file for every
cell phone in America. Meaning that every text message, photo, phone call, email, etc is being
recorded, making it easier for the government to track down anyone that they want. Americans
privacy is being violated very similarly to the privacy violations in 1984, a novel written by George

If anyone ever started to act suspicious or do unusual activity, the FBI will then pull up that
person s cell phone file, and review every text message, phone call, email, etc. Thanks to a guy
named Edward Snowden these files were released to show everyone the secret activity the
government does behind the people s backs. Edward Snowden worked for the NSA and had many
important roles. When Snowden came across these files he felt the need the documents because he
believed that these types of decisions should be determined by the public. And just like Edward
Snowden I do strongly believe that the government should not have made the decision of recording
private information without notifying us, the citizens. Even though these actions are meant to
protect and to prevent, however this is a total violation of privacy which is not ok.
In conclusion, every person with a cellular device does have a file that the government has just
in case. Cell phones are losing it s original purpose and should now be considered a tracking
device. If the government kept this secret, who knows what else they could be hiding. Personally
it s frightening to know that the government knows where you are, who you were with, how long

While the revenue for cruises has declined in the US, it is growing in Europe and Asia, leading to
more opportunities for Carnival to expand in these regions. Current plans calls to increase berth

Customers in Asia are now looking for luxurious cruises as a vacation option. Disposable

Cost Allocation Method
Cost allocation is a method to determine the cost of services provided to users of that service. It
does not determine the price of the service, but rather determines what the service costs to provide.
It is important to determine the cost allocation of the services, in order to determine a justifiable fee
/charge/tax for those services.
Included in cost allocation are direct, indirect, and incremental costs. Direct costs, or separable
costs, are costs that are related to a single type of service and are related to one type of output or
user such as, a sector to sector hand off. Indirect costs, or common costs, are related to more than

most of the Universities divide both in two different classes. Government accounting and

incurred costs. It is like spreading the costs amongst those that use it. Companies allocate costs
merely to assign responsibility of those costs to either several departments within that company or
to just one department.

Gender Barriers in Sports
Since way back in the day there s always been that big barrier blockading females and males
when trying to engage in a sport that is not appropriate for their gender. It had always been that
some sports are aimed towards the male gender and others towards the females. When a man or
women joins a sport that is not originally for their gender, it is not something that many people want
to accept.
Gender is defined as an ongoing cultural process that socially constructs differences between men
and women. This day in age, men still have more privileges than women do. Men have more
wealth and power, many role models are males, and women are seen as child raisers. Dr. Jack C.

Essay On The South African War
The war that occurred in South Africa from 1899 to 1902 has had several names throughout
history. Often, the title depends on who is discussing the war and on what side of the war they
were fighting for during the conflict. Several of these names include the Boer War, the Second
War of Liberation, the Anglo Boer War, and the South African War. Many historians today believe
that it should be referred to as the South African War, so as to include everyone who resided in
the South African region at that time. The conflict should be called the South African war as it
was not simply a war between white British and white Boers because there were many different
people and races involved and affected, including African workers, and foreigners who came to
work in the mines in the Transvaal.
The War in South Africa resulted from many different issues between the British Empireand the

The Role of Animals in the Unbearable Lightness of Being...
Since animals, usually pets, are sometimes an essential part of one s life, it is not surprising that
we find frequent references to its role in works of social realism, such as Wislawa Szymborska s
Poems New and Collected and Milan Kundera s Unbearable Lightness of Being. Animals in
literature could be used to symbolize all sorts of things, but in particular, animals may represent the
personality of a character. This is because as humans and animals co exist in the same atmosphere,
certain aspects of a character reveal themselves in the compassion or even hatred towards the
animal. Since animals are often known to trigger the interests of humans, the attitude of the humans
towards the animals contributes much to character revelation. Both... Show more content on

A life that never ends?
He d turn his ruddy rump as if to say
Such life he neither bans nor recommends
We can see the monkey as a god now, a figure that even has power to give life that never ends, such
a contrast after the total mistreatment, above. We see how the animals determine human
characteristics: either overly mistreating, or overly obsessed.
In the poem, Cat in an empty apartment, Szymborska again criticizes the uncaring characteristic of
humans and the role of animals in the poem as a mere irritation or a vexation.
Die В– you can t do that to a cat
Since what can a cat do in an empty apartment?
Climb the walls?
Rub against the furniture? В…
From this we can perceive that animals in Szymborska s poems serve to prove that in their co
existence with humans, they are treated unfairly and the human characteristics of cruel superiority
over animals are evident in the works.
Later in the Unbearable Lightness of Being, Tomas and Tereza moves to a collective farm in Rural

My Most Memorable Moment
Fencing is , in technical terms , the sport of fighting with rapiers (swords) in order to score points
against an opponent, to me, it s simply the art of sword fighting. My most memorable moment
happened to me, during my junior year in high school ( when I was still fencing in my free time ).
I and some of my fencingclass entered a tournament called The Golden Gate International which
took place in the gym of a State University. I still remember when my dad and I finally got to the
gym, I was ecstatic, from the outside the gym looked more like a convention center. The
tournament took place on the indoor basketball court ( which got divided into several sections
for multiple matches ) was massive, almost twice the size of my high school gym. There were rows
of seats on both side of the gym, and even stairs and a elevator that led to a balcony like, second
floor where you could get a bird s eye view of the whole gym.
I had six matches that day, and surprising the match where I lost is the not the most memorable.
My most memorable match took place around 3 hours into the tournament, mainly because of the
experience with the referee. The first thing I noticed was that the referee looked like he was
completely pulled from the crowd, almost like someone s father. Still, he seems rather confident
and has the tough look of an ex military guy, so I m appropriately intimidated. The First touch was
a parry riposte or a stalemate with two hits on both sides leaving the round up to

Conduct A Porter s Five Force Analysis
#1: Conduct a Porter s Five force analysis. (Show your work.)
The case is about Loblaw companies Inc., a highly successful grocery chain in Canada. Loblaw
is Canada s largest food distributor. The major issue is the emergence of Wal Mart, who is
looking to pursue expanding their grocery line chain in the Canadian market. According to
Yunna (2014), porter s five forces model has been widely applied to analyze industry
competition in various markets. Using Porter s 5 Forces to analysis the issues of the case can be
a useful tool in summarizing the attractiveness of the market or industry. According to Dobbs
(2012), the five forces are the threats posed by competitive rivalry, powerful buyers, powerful
suppliers, potential new entrants, and substitute products. The analysis of Porter s five forces
framework can be viewed in figure 1. The case describes the retailer supplier relationships as power
plays. As the scale would tilt in favor of the one wielding the most clout at a point in time. There are
numerous manufacturers with various substitutions among the grocery store. However, a
supermarket would lease out shelf space for rent. The manufacturers would pay the grocery store a
combination of different allowance to obtain secure shelf and warehouse positions for its products.
Ultimately the category manager had the final word, which left the manufacturers with little to no
bargaining power. Consumers are creatures of habit. In terms of the buyer

Ethical Decision Making Analysis
In society, individuals experience situations in which they tend to question whether their choices
are ethical. In the article, The Importance of Values and Cultures in Ethical Decision Making by
Christine Chimielewski, Chimielewski discusses the three principles which can help a person
determine whether they are the good or bad choice. The three principles for making an ethical
decision are The Rule of Private Gain , Everyone Does It , and Benefits Versus Burden . If a
person is stuck in a situation where they re indecisive about the choice, then the individual should
look at the three principles. This article relates to the story, Everyone Lives in a Flood Zone,
because of the main character, Jack finds himself in situations that he... Show more content on

unexpectedly face an ethical dilemma when unusual situations occur suddenly for which an
immediate response is needed. This quote is related to Jack s experience when debating whether he
should save his brother or just let them kill his brother. When put into an ethical dilemma, a person

  • 2. The Generation Of The World Essay This distinction allows Athanasius to argue that the Arians had confused the ideas of offspring with creature and the verbs to beget with to create. What becomes apparent from the above Athanasian text is that the decisive factor which defines the distinction between offspring and creature is the person of the Father and his role in the generation of the Son and the creation of the world. Athanasius task becomes proving that the Father is portrayed in the Bible as personally involved in the generation of the Son as opposed to the creatures who exist outside of him. In this effort he turns to Psalms and examines three texts: Psalm 2:7 ( The Lord said to me, My son you are; today I have begotten you ), Psalm 44:2 ( My heart spoke a good word ), and Psalm 109:3 ( From the womb, before Morning star, I brought you forth ) and synthesizes them with verses speaking of the Father s direct relation to the Son (Matt. 3:17; John 8:42; 6:46). Matt. 3:17, 17:5 The Father s personal relationship with the Son is perhaps nowhere more evident than in the baptism and transfiguration (Mat. 3:17, 17:5; Mark 1:11, 9:7; Luke 3:22, 9:35). Traditionally interpreted along Trinitarian terms Athanasius makes use of this voluntary declaration of the Father with the Son as describing Jesus natural sonship. By focusing on the Father s initiative as an unprecedented occurrence he argues that if the generation of the Son did not differ essentially from the creation of other beings and he were ... • 3. Human Social Perception Of Social Psychology Human Social Perception in Empirical Literature Human social perception is area of study within social psychology that involves the complex cognitive system that is personal to each individual. Since each person has a unique cognitive system, interpretation of social situations is unique to each individual. The differences in cognition and perception between different people allows for varied interpretations, accurate perceptions, and misperceptions. Social perception is an interesting topic that has been largely researched by a multitude of social psychologists. The goal of this paper is to provide a brief description of social psychology, a summary of social perception, some of its forms and uses, misperception, and accuracy in perception. Brief Description of Social Psychology Social psychology is the scientific field that focuses on the individual within society. Due to this individualistic focus, people are often studied experimentally within or in relation to social environments. Social psychology studies the effects of social processes and cognitive processes on the way individuals perceive, influence, and relate to others, in a systematic way, using scientific methods (Smith Mackie, 2007). Due to the complexity of the human body and mind, social psychology is a vast field that has been explored by many experts. As social creatures, people interact constantly within an environment that requires complex cognitive and perceptual processes. As a result, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nuclear Weapons Are The Most Deadly Nuclear weapons are the most deadly, destructive, and powerful form of technology that the world has ever created. Officially, only 9 states out of 196 in the international arena have possession of them. Although nuclear weapons are being eliminated by states, they still hold a significant value for nations in the IR arena with a nuclear annihilation capacity. States within the international community that own nuclear arsenals are automatically feared and respected because of the status symbol they hold. Conversely, this prestige, power, and influence can also back fire on states and become a disadvantage. States can lose power in the international community by causing tensions and dividing themselves between states who don t have these nuclear advantages. France is one country in particular that resembles a superpower with nuclear capability. France has gained power in the International community through NATO due to their possession of nuclear weapons. Overall, nuclear weapons still represent a great power in the International Arena today and will continue holding that power. The ability to produce and launch dangerous, nuclear weapons help states earn a negotiation power in the international community because nuclear power is equated to political power. A state that owns nuclear weapons is feared, respected, and seen as a country that nobody wants to wage a war with, because of the threat of nuclear annihilation. Once a state has possession of nuclear weapons it becomes a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates Essay Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates Naked women have been in the front of feminist s minds for several decades. Especially when they are pictured in soft pornography magazine Playboy. Feminists for years have been yelling that Playboy is harmful to both men and women. Males around the country have countered that there is nothing wrong with their Playboy, it is merely a harmless vice. The problem I see with Playboy is not that it demeans women or subjugates them, and its not that it leads to violence. The main problem is that it fosters unrealistic images and expectation in men s minds about women. But since there is little we can do about it now, we merely need to take that first step and recognize Playboy for what it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I interviewed one person on each side of this issue, to get the token opinion that is popular on their side of the issue. On this side is Ursula, an extremely quotable quasi feminist who makes a strong case for her side.[1] Ursula sums up the feminist argument by saying, Guys see the idealized sex goddess, how can women compete? First and foremost feminists argue that the idea of a naked woman in a magazine is degrading to that woman in particular and to women as a whole; Playboy and men s magazines in general make women out to be sex objects (Burstyn, 42). Playboy objectifies women, leaving out the human side (Burstyn, 43). Feminists also say that soft pornography leads to hard pornography which can then lead to violent crimes against women. Rick Heibert in his article A hard line against soft porn says that psychologists have found that viewing soft pornography inevitably leads to harder material (par 4). Others would take this a step further and contend that the viewing of violent pornography then leads to an increased likelihood of committing a violent sexual crime (Cramer 202). These articles would present statistical research backing themselves up, more likely than not the Meese Commission will make it in to any feminist critique. Feminists present a third argument saying that magazines such as Playboy lead to depression or anorexia in women, especially amongst impressionable young women (Chancer, 85). There is little argument against teenagers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thomas Hobbes Social Contract Theory Social Contract Theory is the view that a persons moral and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live. It is rightly associated with modern moral and political theory and is given its first full exposition and defense by Thomas Hobbes(Friend). Thomas Hobbes, an English philosopher (1588 1679), lived through a very vital period of the English Civil War, which lasted from 1642 1648. During this time, the King and the Monarchists wanted the traditional authority of a monarchy, while the Parliamentarians did not. Hobbes had an important role in this, because he symbolized a settlement between the two groups. Not only did he reject the theory of the Divine Right of Kings, he also rejected the Parliamentarians democratic view that power should be shared between the King and Parliament. He possesses both radical and conservative characteristics because he rejects both views. One could divide Hobbes political theory into two parts: the first being his theory of human motivation followed by his theory of the social contract, which is based off the theoretical State of Nature. Hobbes theory of human motivation, better known as Psychological Egoism, is the thesis that we are always deep down motivated by what we perceive to be in our own self interest (Friend). John Stewart Mill s The Subjection Of Women In chapter III of The Subjection of Women, John Stewart Mill contends with the claims that women are unfit to hold public office, due to their mental weakness, nervous energy, and their inability to focus on singular problems. He also refutes the claim that women are inherently unequal because they have not had the same successes as men in various fields. In Chapter IV, Mill lays out his arguments for why granting women more freedom would be beneficial in that it would increase utility. He begins by asserting that child rearing, in his time, bolsters injustice, and has a negative impact on the character of men. He then argues that women s equality would double the mental faculties of society. He further argues that women who are uneducated have a bad influence upon men, and that increasing women s liberty would have a betterimpact on society as a whole. Finally, he argues that further genderequality would allow women to understand when sacrifices need be made for the betterment of society. Mill s arguments are sound, however he misses opportunities to strengthen his claims. This essay concludes with some additional arguments that Mill could have added to increase the effectiveness of his arguments. Elf the Broadway Musical was produced by Texas A M University and MSC OPAS. It was a comedic musical that appealed to a wide variety of audience members. Elf the Broadway Musical was a delightful surprise, since I had seen Elf (film) I expected the play to appeal more to a younger audience, but I was surprised when I found myself laughing alongside the two children sitting next to me. Before, I had seen this play I had been to a handful of other popular plays such as The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. For whatever reason I was not very excited to attend Elf the Broadway Musical, but the second the play began I knew that my opinion was about to change. As the play continued, I was in complete awe of this play from the plot, the acting, and the technical side of the production. Overall this play was an amazing way to put the entire audience into a holiday spirit and remind us what the holiday season is about. Elf the Broadway Musical is about an orphan boy, Buddy, who crawls into Santa s toy sack and is taken back to the North Polewhere Buddy is raised by elves. Since animals, usually pets, are sometimes an essential part of one s life, it is not surprising that we find frequent references to its role in works of social realism, such as Wislawa Szymborska s Poems New and Collected and Milan Kundera s Unbearable Lightness of Being. Animals in literature could be used to symbolize all sorts of things, but in particular, animals may represent the personality of a character. This is because as humans and animals co exist in the same atmosphere, certain aspects of a character reveal themselves in the compassion or even hatred towards the animal.
