How To Write A Rhetorical Analysis Of Shooting An Elephant
Introduction:
Shooting an Elephant is an exposition composed by George Orwell. It was first distributed in the
artistic magazine New Writing in late 1936 and communicate by the BBC Home Service on 12
October 1948. George Orwell was an English author, writer, columnist, and commentator. His
exposition depicts the experience of the English storyteller, conceivably Orwell himself, called upon
to shoot a forceful elephant while acting as a cop in Burma.
Statement of the Problem:
In the paper, the essayist don t endeavor to murder the elephant Orwell, realizing that the elephant is
most likely no longer unsafe, has no aim of shooting the elephant. In spite of Orwell s abhorrence for
shooting the elephant, he turns out to be all of a sudden mindful ... Show more content on

He is eased, he concedes, that the coolie kicked the bucket, since it gave him an affection for shooting
the elephant. To the extent his kindred officers are concerned, he made the best decision. To the extent
the locals are concerned, he concealed any hint of failure confront. However Orwell finishes up, I
regularly pondered whether any of the others got a handle on that I had done it exclusively to abstain
from looking a trick.
Orwell can better comprehend government through his run in with the elephant on the grounds that the
elephant fills in as an image of imperialism. For instance, much like the Burmese who have been
colonized and who mishandle Orwell, the elephant has been incited to dangerous conduct by being
mistreated. While its ruinous conduct, and the Burmese more unobtrusive insubordination may not be
unequivocally great things, they are made reasonable given the harsh conditions both the elephant and
the Burmese have needed to persevere.

Analysis of Jim Collin s Great by Choice Essay
Human Sexuality Assignment At its core, Great By Choice is a deep exploration of what distinguishes
top performers from their peers during times of chaos, crisis, instability and uncertainty. Rigorous in
its approach but practical in its presentation, Great By Choice to me seems like the perfect handbook
for college seniors such as myself. In tackling the question of what distinguishes top performers in
times of uncertainty, the authors first define what exactly a top performer is and then highlights the
three key ingredients that these individuals were discovered to possess. 10Xers are leaders who built
companies that started from a position of vulnerability, rose to beat their respective industries by at
least 10 times, and did so in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basically a forward thinking individual who understands that slow and steady wins the race who is
armed with patience, drive, and the ability to sell their dream to others is needed to obtain success
before anything else. According to Collins the fire bullets, then cannonballs approach is the best way
to explain the success of large companies. The concept is sort of an homage to the days before
automatic handguns. It takes a lot less gunpowder to fire a bullet than a cannonball, so it is more
effective and plausible to start a battle with bullets; and once enough time has been spent preparing for
the big finish then a cannonball can and should be fired. A bullet is a low distraction, low risk, and low
cost test or experiement. There are two types of cannonballs, uncalibrated and calibrated. A calibrated
cannonball is an idea or concept that is backed by evidence, or in this case empirical validation. A
uncalibrated cannonball, in more or less words, is when one places all their eggs in one basket without
taking the time to obtain empirical validation. Again, slow and steady wins the race. Intel s founders
believed that innovation without discipline leads to disaster. This means having the patience to
cultivate, check and double check an idea to make certain it can be executed and delivered. With this
patience one must take it upon themselves to figure out what will and will not work. There is no way
to predict the future,

Aircraft Solutions

Weaknesses are a symptom that is prevalent in today s information technology realm, indicating
vulnerabilities and risks that come hand and hand with shared networks like Aircraft Solutions. With
enterprises exchanging an unprecedented level of information over open networks, the vulnerabilities
and possibility of compromised security by unwanted intruders is swelling up into a new type of beast.
At Aircraft Solutions, there are several samples of concerns that could lead to a breach of information

The consequences of leaving all their information in one location can be catastrophic to the company s
operation and integrity as valued by their clients. Remotely storing vital information should be the
first precaution taken when installing an archive full of fragile data. NAS (network attached storage),
typically used in the form of cloud or RAID devices provides a safe approach to storing company
information. Common uses are central file storage, media streaming, print serving and backup for all
the local drives on your network. You can even access most NAS drives from the Internet if desired.
(How to Buy Network Attached Storage Drives, Becky Waring). If the NAS devices aren t sufficient,
file servers can support up to 25 users simultaneously and meet the high demands of the usage that
typically come with a large network. Business Process Management (BPM) software is a crucial
aspect in security policy and infrastructure and another major concern for this firm. Considering the
layout of the network, in which employees from various locations and customers ranging around the
globe can access, Aircraft Solutions should be sure their BPM is strong. One of the primary goals of
instituting a business process management system is to provide greater accountability for departmental
functions, from tracking and monitoring expenditures to ensuring deliverables are met.

Destruction Of Rwanda
Between the 1870s and 1900, much of Africa was scavenged at the hands of Europeans, divvied up
between Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain without much regard to the
people who actually inhabited the continent [Fouberg et al, Iweriebor]. From this, Rwanda arose as an
entity, as part of German East Africa, after the League of Nations mandate of Belgium following
World War I. Rwanda is located inland on the African continent, just below the equator, and
surrounded by Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda (as seen in the map on page 3).
Roughly 85% of Rwanda s population consists of Hutus and the remaining 15% Tutsi, with a small
population of Twa, a Pygmy group who were the original inhabitants of Rwanda [The Rwandan
Genocide, 2009]. Though the Tutsis are thought to have migrated into the Rwandan and Burundi area
from the southern highlands of Ethiopia and the Hutus are characterized as earlier inhabitants of
Rwanda and Burundi. The two ethnic groups now inhabit much ... Show more content on

The Chicano Movement By Frank Romero
Throughout history, art has helped in different mediums to bring awareness to different issues and
constructive messages to society. The Chicano movement started in the 1960s; the public wanted to
repair social injustice. The Chicano movement encompassed a broad section of issues; from
restoration of lands, to farm workers rights, to enhance education, to voting and political rights. At this
moment many individuals were trying different ways to express their views and one of those ways
was art. In the early years of the Chicano movement, Frank Romero established a reputation as one of
the Chicano art heroes. Through murals Frank Romero expressed his thoughts and embodied a
Chicano identity. His murals would not only connect with Mexicans, but with everyone. In his
painting or art Romero would usually show everyday events in different views, opening the eyes of
the viewer. Romero s art would come out strong. Although Romero gained his fame with his murals,
he is amazing in drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculptures. He is not just a remarkable Chicano
artist, but an astonishing artist around the world.
Frank Romero was born in 1941 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in a culturally mixed,
middle class community and was well into his career when he identified himself as a Latino artist.
During the height of the Chicano movement in the early 1970s, he and other artists founded a group

Socrates Unjust Man
Throughout The Republic, Plato tries to paint a picture of a just man and an unjust man. Socrates is
constantly challenged at both ends of the topic. Answering to the challenges Socrates describes an
unjust man as happy on paper, and a just man happy and content in their soul. An unjust man in
Socrates view is a rich man. An unjust man is only happy on paper but is that real happiness. An
unjust man always wants more than he can obtain, and tries to gain it, when he cannot he is
disappointed. An unjust man will be mean with their own money... but they ll love to spend other
people s because of their appetites. Plato divides the soul into two sections reason, spirit/indignation
and appetites/desires. The unjust person lets his indignation and desires rule and keeps reason on the
sideline. Once one of those takes place of reason, the man is in a state of chaos and starts behaving
unjustly. The more the appetite grows the more unhappy he becomes, being subjected to his desires.
Socrates goes on to explain an unjust man by comparing different societies and shows how they all
start from a just society. However, they become corrupted. This is explained while Socrates describes
the transformation from a Timocracy government to an Oligarchy. Socrates explains how if a person
were to proceed further into money making, the more they value it, and the more they would be
enslaved by it. Furthermore, Plato saves the worst society for last, Tyranny. Some people may

Feasibility And Benefits Of Business Process Outsourcing...
Research Report
Introduction
The research topic is to find the feasibility and the benefits of Business process outsourcing and
Knowledge process outsourcing, in India.
The research is planned to be conducted keeping Indian market in perspective, which is why one of
the booming industries Outsourcing units has been chosen, to complete the research on. India has
come out to be major player in the outsourcing business since past a few years. (Ahmedabad)
Outsourcing the business is in trend as it helps the company to cut the operational cost. It basically
means the multinational companies handing over of their task like sales or collections, to another
company on a target basis payment contract. This creates a win win situation for both the companies
as former one gets to save a lot of time, money and energy and the latter gets the business. India

labour resides in the country. India stands the second highest in possessing the english speaking and
computer friendly population. (Ahmedabad)

A Link Between Africa And The Rest Of The World
African civilization, like most other societies have their own set of creation stories which can be seen
in the Christian Bible or folk stories that are told in other parts of the world. One example is the
Asante Tower to Heaven which can be seen as a parallel to the Tower of Babel story told in the book
of Genesis in the Bible. Both involved people on Earth trying to reach God in heaven by building
towers and ultimately failing. Just this example can show a link between Africa and the rest of the
world. These creation myths, from the San, Dogon, and Yoruba people, come from the prominent local
religions from early times in different parts of Africa. These stories and religious rituals lasted until
Christian missionaries came and converted a large portion of the population to Christianity, which
diminished those that adhered to the original religions.
Another topic heavily discussed by those interviewed was the economic status of those in Africa
today. Jamie spoke about her concern for African poverty, I would have to say that I care most about
the high amount of poverty in Africa, I mean our poor over here is their rich . Another interviewee,
Allison expressed a similar sentiment, I care most about the underdevelopment of Africa, there s a lot
of people over there that is less fortunate than we are over here and they have less opportunities over
there . This phenomenon of Africa being perceived as underdeveloped was discussed by Walter
Rodney in How Africa Developed

Themes In A Rose For Emily
In the short story A Rose for Emily , William Faulkner writes about a woman s life through the eyes of
Southern townspeople. The main character, Emily Grierson, struggles with her life because of the
townspeople s perspective of her actions. Because of the many references that are made throughout
the story, the setting is very recognizable and easy to identify. Although the southern references are
very distinct, many of these southern values, norms, and perspectives vary and change throughout the
years. Throughout the story, Faulkner describes the story s setting through historical, social, and
cultural references towards certain eras. In the beginning of the story, the readers are told that Emily
lived in a big, squarish frame house that had once been white, decorated with cupolas and spires and
scrolled balconies in the heavily lightsome style of the seventies (998). The style of Emily s house
portrays an old plantation house. These types of houses were mainly used during Civil War because of
the popularity of slavery in the South. Because the story is set in the South, much of the South s past
during the Civil War is mentioned. The narrator explains Colonel Sartoris made a decree that stated,
no Negro woman should appear on the streets without an apron (998). During the Civil War and post
Civil War eras, white people had control over the actions of African Americans. Because of what is
known about the South during the Civil War, Colonel Sartoris s

Gallaudet Disability Rights Movement
I. Introduction
With nearly 20% of Americans having a disability, the voice of the disability community is growing
stronger and louder. The disability community has worked long and hard to ensure that people with
disabilities are included in conventional American life and not sent away to institutions such as mental
hospitals and nursing homes. While the disability community has made large strides towards equality,
there is still much to come until people with disabilities are truly integrated in mainstream life. For
example, Scott Randolf, a Vietnam veteran who lost his sight and legs from duty, complains that he is
not getting the help he needs. His wheelchair is unable to fit through several doors; if he falls on the

One of the most notable feats is the Deaf President Now protest at Gallaudet University on 1988.
Gallaudet University is the only American university that is specifically for people with hearing
disabilities. Ironically, Gallaudet s president and most of its board of trustees were not deaf, and after a
week of long protests, Gallaudet students were able to change that. This protest was a huge victory for
the Disability Rights movement across the nation because people with disabilities saw that they could
create major change.
Two years later, protesters were anxiously waiting at the United States Capitol for the ADA to pass.
The passage of the ADA was stalled by public transit companies complaining about the strict
regulations set around accessibility that would be hard to implement. Many people approached the
Capitol and set their wheelchairs, crutches, and canes aside to begin crawling up the steps of the
Capitol. This was known as the Capitol Crawl (See Appendix A). By struggling to make their way up
the steps of the Capitol, the protesters were able to show the demand of accessibility in their daily

Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell Of Arms
World War I, also known as the Great War, was a war of courage, glory, and selflessness. A Farewell
to Arms, written by Ernest Hemingway, is a recollection of his war experiences. The protagonist, an
American Lieutenant named Fredric Henry, struggles to find the middle ground between his affair
with the beautiful and radiant Catherine Barkley and pursuing heroism in the Great War. The lovers
lives are turned upside down once they realize they are infatuated with each other. Like Lieutenant
Henry, when Hemingway was serving at the front, he was wounded, was decorated by the Italian
Government, and spent considerable time in hospitals (nobelprize.org). In the hospital, Henry grew
impatient because he could not immediately walk away from the facility and his problems.
Hemingway uses characterization to develop the people within the story as well as the underlining
motifs of loyalty, love, and masculinity. Lieutenant Fredric Henry traveled to Italy for the soul purpose
of participating in World War I and touring Italy. His intensions become less defined when he meets
Catherine Barkley. Hemingway draws the reader farther and farther into the novel with Fredric s
thoughts, and the beauty he sees within Catherine. Fredric quickly becomes involved in playing
innocent games with her. Catherine hints at the game, questioning if Fredric loved her. After he
responds with a lie, Catherine catches him off guard by replying, You don t have to pretend to love

Cash Basis Versus Accepted Accounting Principles
Abstract
This is a discussion of two types of accounting methods that most companies use, accrual basis or
cash basis. A definition of both concepts and comparisons between the two methods will be discussed.
In addition, it describes and examines the difference in the managing of those methods and which
form of accounting method is more useful and beneficial to provide information to users for different
purposes. In cash basis accounting, revenue is recorded only when the cash is received, and expenses
are recorded only when cash is paid. The Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) prohibits
preparing an income statement using the cash basis of accounting as it violates the matching principles
and revenue recognition. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two methods are based on different principles, and there are major differences between the two
systems.
Definition
Cash Basis
Cash basis accounting produces a measure called net operating cash flow. This measure is the
difference between cash receipts and cash disbursements during a reporting period from transactions
related to providing goods and services to customers. (Spiceland, Intermediate Accounting, 2011, pp.
6 7)
Accrual Basis Accrual basis accounting is the measurement of resources provided by revenues and the
measure of expenses. The difference of these two measurements is net income or net loss if expenses
are greater than revenues related to providing goods and services to customers. (Spiceland,
Intermediate Accounting, 2011, pp. 6 7)
Advantages and Disadvantages
Cash Basis
When considering the use of cash basis accounting, it is important to understand the following
advantages and disadvantages:
Accurate Tracking of Cash Flow
Cash basis accounting gives an accurate reflection of a businesses cash flow. Since it only records
revenue and expenses when they actually occur, the business knows how much cash it has on hand in
that particular moment.
Inaccurate Representation of Long Term Revenue and Expenses
While cash accounting accurately tracks cash flow, it gives a false impression of revenue and
expenses. This method may show a negative cash flow, even though you anticipate receiving
payments in the next period.

The Importance Of Tourism And Tourism In Vietnam

With gaining a new perspective it has helped myself understand and give direction to achieve my

myself understand their cultural but also the hospitality and tourism industry. The hospitality and
tourism within each city support the history of Vietnam. This increases the experience economy as

When visiting the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh I had the chance to meet several of their
students. Long Ngugyen and Minh Tri Phan Duy, who helped Chloe, Sarah, Rebecca and I with our

Examples Of Social Injustice In The Old Testament
THE SOCIAL EVIL IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
Introduction
Social injustice is an evil which has been deliberated on in the Old Testament. It is the unkindness of a
society where there are incidental inequalities between people of different ethnic origins, religions,
social status, and gender. In this set of society immorality is considered to be high. Some of these
social injustices include consideration of advantages and disadvantages in society that make it

An historical link probably existed between Amos and the prophets Micah and Isaiah. Jeremiah 26:18f
indicates that Micah preached in Jerusalem during the time of the ministry of Isaiah, and so it is likely
that the young Micah may have been influenced by Amos preaching.
How to curb this social evil
This social evils should be curbed by each person moving closer to the Lord and live, this He put it in
(Amos 5:6 8). Amos emphasizes on the need to be righteous and hence remain faithful to the covenant
of God who will always be present in our lives.
In (Amos 5:14 16) we can also curb the injustice by seeking good and not evil so that we may live as
the Lord the God of Host will be with us. On the same note he teaches that we can curb injustices by
hating evil, loving good and establishing justice.
In Amos prophecy, he says that true life in Israel can only flourish when God s concern for the
vulnerable finds embodiment in its social life. He notes that such embodiment requires that the justice
has to truly be justice aimed at correcting wrongs done. Indeed those who have been involved in
committing injustices are to be

Path Analysis Paper
Main analyses involved running each of three models through AMOS SEM software separately, using
path analysis techniques to assess direct and indirect effects, among the present observed variables
(Arbuckle, 2013). Path analysis, which is based on multiple regressions, examines the relationship
between exogenous (i.e., variable not causes by another variable, but effects one or more variables in
model) and endogenous variables (i.e., a variable that is caused or effected by one or more variables in
a model; Iacobucci, 2010). Path models examine the total effects, as well as the direct and indirect of
effects of variables in a single model, simultaneously (Peterson et al., 2014). Structural equation
modeling path analysis techniques are superior to standard regression analyses in that they: 1) provide
more accurate estimates of the effects of hypothesized variables; 2) estimate all effects
simultaneously; 3) allow for greater accuracy of parameter estimates when examining competing
models; and 4) allow the researcher to compare effects of multiple mediators (Zhao, Lynch, Chen,
2010).
Mediation Testing. Data were fit to the path model using AMOS SEM software. For Model 1(see
Figure 3) and Model 2 (see Figure 4), ethnic identity was examined as a mediating variable between
community participation neighborhood sense of community and psychological empowerment (Model
1) and 30 day substance use (Model 2). For Model 3 (see Figure 5), psychological empowerment was

Positive Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
Being 19 and graduated from highschool I ve had my fair share of good and bad teachers. I feel like
the main 4 effective characteristics of a teacher are, a good communicator, a good listener, being
understandable, and having good sense of humor. Being a good communicator plays a huge role into
being an effective teacher. Many students will have tons of questions, and you re not able to answer
those questions in an effective way then you re setting your kid up for failure. Also, being able to
communicate doesn t just mean being able to talk with students, you have to also deal with parents and
be able to talk with on a professional level. Being able to communicate is one of the top things a
teacher should have down and ready to go once school starts. Being a good listener to me, shows that
you actually care what the student have to say. In my past I ve teachers who didn t even bother to care
what I said, so I took that as disrespect and why should I show you respect if it s not coming back the
other way? As a teacher you have to realize students care a lot about what they tell you and they trust
you that you re listening. No, you re not going to remember every little thing a kid tells you, but at that
moment they expect you just to listen and give some type of reaction or response. With being
understandable I take it from a personal experience. When I was younger my family was going
through some things and I missed a lot of school. Once I got back the teacher didn t even

Hyperboles In Romeo And Juliet
The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, is a story about how a young female and
male fell in love but they came from rival families. Romeo was from the family of montagues and
Juliet was from the capulets. Those two families were constantly getting into arguments and fights
because they highly dislike eachother. Romeo and Juliet fell in love which caused problems within the
families. Although in the end Romeo and Juliet passed away together. This story was a tragic love
story yet there were many things to prov that this story was more of a comedy then a tragedy. Things
that the author, William Shakespeare included in this story to prove that this story is indeed a comedy
is that the author created a comical backgrounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nurse was constantly saying things throughout the play that could of esily been replaced with
more serious or not so funny things. For example in the play the nurse stated, I would say thou hadst

this were a serious play or movie. Mercutio is also saying sarcastic or funny things throughout the
play which couldve also been changed to have a more serious affect on this play and movie. Mercutio
in the play said, And sometime comes she with with a tithe pigs tail. This is alos a not so serious

Television Violence
Who should be responsible for Television Violence?
Composition II
Who should be responsible for Television Violence? Can we afford to continue ignoring the
connection between television violence and the increase in mass murders? The answer is no. We have
to take a stance now and fight for stricter regulations by the government and the Federal
Communications Committee (FCC). Television has been associated with influencing controversial
acts since the beginning of its creation. One of the most recent acts that television is being blamed for
is the violence associated Columbine High School murders in 1999. Many adults enjoy the
entertainment of bad cop versus good cop, as well as the violent acts that are ... Show more content on

This works because it helps eliminate the peer pressure amongst children who can and cannot watch
certain shows. The second half to the village theory is the way government handles certain
regulations. Currently the government assigns the FCC to regulate all media matters. The FCC
enforces laws prohibiting the airing of obscene programming at any time and the airing of indecent
programming or profane language during certain hours. The FCC also has the ability to revoke a
station license, impose a monetary forfeiture or issue a warning if any station violates the law.
However this is limited to nudity and foul language. Congress has not given the FCC power to
regulate violence. So, the message is it s more important to bleep foul language or run to commercial
if there is a wardrobe malfunction but the research that shows violence is link to aggression in children
sends no red flag. Congress has the most influence so it is time for them to become more aggressive in
regulating the time and amount of violence that currently airs. This was stated very clearly by the West
Virginia, Senator Jay Rockefeller, Congress, has not done enough to protect children and families
from the kind of violence that occurred on Dec. 14 at Sandy Hook elementary in Connecticut.
(Plummer, 2012, Para. 11) The senator stresses many points in an interview on December 20, 2012 on
the importance and responsibility that Congress has to make a

Claude Debussy s Influence On 20th Century Music
It is not uncommon in music that a particular style or genre may share similar traits with another
completely different musical genre. In fact, this happens quite often, and much like other forms of art,
different types of music influence each other regularly and co exist to create newer forms of music. A
brilliant example of this is demonstrated through the music of Claude Debussy and his widespread
influence on 20th century music. Considered one of the fathers of impressionistic music (a title he
personally disapproved of), Debussy s selection of harmony opened an entirely new realm of
harmonic possibilities that hadn t existed previously. Through the implementation of extended
harmonies and flowing non diatonic melodies (among other techniques) he carved a unique sound
completely different from his contemporaries. One of the genres his music inspired was Jazz. Debussy
s usage of harmony and modulation was highly influential on many of the Jazz greats including Duke

Somewhat unconventional, Debussy employed several techniques that composers before him had
explored, but he delved with a level of detail that none had accomplished previously. Thoroughly
aware of the diatonic system, Debussy sought to build upon it. He had a fascination with exotic
harmonies as demonstrated through his work. At its core, the diatonic system is used to classify
harmonies in a particular key (or set of keys), but Debussy added altered and extended harmonies such
as 9ths and 13ths that provided extra coloring to his chords. Sharpening 9ths, 11ths and 13ths created
tension, flattening them created even more tension, and leaving them natural provided stronger
consonance. His treatment of diatonic harmony strongly correlated to his implementation with
bitonality and polytonality. Debussy would superimpose major or minor triads on top of 7th chords to
extend his harmonies and suggest multiple key

Personal Statement On Family Farms
Family farms serve as both a place to live and a place to work and is unique as both a home and a
workplace. Growing up on a cattle farm, with horses and the necessary machinery, I was exposed to
many conditions that have taught me valuable lessons and allowed me to thrive as a young individual.
One of the main reasons that I have been able to thrive under these circumstances is because of my
family members ensuring my safety. My family has always been rigorous about teaching me how to
stay safe from the many dangers on our farm that could leave me vulnerable to injury and illness. On
our farm, we consider the health and safety of our family to be our number one priority. When I was
young, my parents restricted my access to worksites on the farm and were certain to reduce my
exposure to hazardous situations to ensure my safety and well being. I was prohibited to go near the
cattle without one of my adult family members being with me and was not allowed to roam around the
farm without the supervision of an adult. I became progressively mesmerized by the livestock on our
farm and wanted to be more involved with them so that I could pursue my curiosity. While this
worried my parents to a certain degree, they supported my curiosity and began to give me modified
tasks and chores that I was capable of doing without putting me in harm s way. Before performing any
of these tasks however, they ensured that I was properly informed on what I was to do and how I was
to do them. The

A Case Control Study On Birth Defects
In 2002, a case control study was started in Brittanny, France. The candidates were women who were
well into their second trimester (Douglas). Out of this study, they concluded that 79 out of the 580
babies were born with birth defects (Douglas). The mothers were questioned about their home lives
and their hobbies, along with their occupation. Twenty nine percent of the women were found to be
exposed to these solvents based on the products they use in their home while twenty one percent of
women were exposed to harmful products through their profession (Douglas). Women who reported
regular exposure to solvents were four times more likely to have a baby with an oral cleft as compared
to women who did not report regular exposure. Using job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hormones are the building blocks of life. Without them, you can t create new lives. However,
hormones are starting to cause people to worry. Breast development is on the rise. Girls, on average,
are beginning to mature and grow breasts at the age of nine, which causes one to raise suspicion
considering how the average in the 1960 s was around age 11 (Steingraber 746). Early breast
development can be linked to breast cancer later on in life. A common misconception is that all man
made chemicals are harmful, and all natural chemicals are good for us. However, many natural
chemicals are just as harmful to human health, if not more so (Lorch). Dorea Reeser provides a
different perspective to counteract the harmful effects of manmade chemicals. Dorea Reeser upholds a
Ph. D. in environmental chemistry at the University of Toronto. She researches and studies the
chemical reactions at water surfaces, and how the chemical and physical properties influence these
reactions and the release of important trace gases into the troposphere.
The idea that nature can harm us is not new. Have you ever heard of malaria, HIV, tuberculosis,
botulism or tetanus? Why, then, are so many convinced that anything and everything natural is
healthier for us than synthetic products? It s true that modern chemistry has brought us a number of
toxic chemicals, like DDT and dioxins, but do you really think that nature s chemicals are any less

Analysis Of The Book Rabban Jobanan B The Talmudic...
The Sources of the Story of Rabban Jobanan b. Zakkai The Talmudic tradition concerning the episode
of Rabban Jol;anan b. Zakkai and Vespasian is found (in its entirety) in five books, namely: (1) Avot
de R. Nathan, Version I, iv (Schechter, pp. 22 24); (i) Avot de R. Nathan, Version II (Schechter, vi, p.
19); (3) Midrash Lamentations (pericope i, 31); (4) Babylonian Talmud (Giffin 56a b); ~J) Midrash
Proverbs, xv (Buber 79 80). But it appears that the Haggada in Midrash Proverbs was taken verbatim
from Avot de R. Nathan, Version JI.60 Hence, when we consider the differences between the divergent
traditions regarding this episode, we have to speak of only four sources. Although the primary theme
of these sources is the episode of Rabban Jol)anan b. Zakkai, yet they sometimes include certain
elements that were not, it seems, originally mentioned in the Academy in relation to this incident. For
example, the conquest of Jerusalem is combined in the Midrash with this story as a single narrative,
but from the silence on the subject of the parallel accounts it must apparently be inferred that this
subject formed a separate narrative. Similarly the burning of the stores in Avot de R. Nathan
constitutes a chapter on its own, without any connection with the tradition regarding Rabban Jol;anan,
which in the other accounts is completely integrated with his departure from Jerusalem.61
Nevertheless, it is desirable to collate all these references, for we learn from the views of the Sages

Essay on A Matter of Life or Negligence
American inventor and scientist Thomas Alva Edison once said that opportunitiy is missed by most
people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. Edison s quote, while concise, reveals a
great truth, one that is directly related to an ongoing debate in the United States. The procedures,
morality, and potential success of stem cell research have been discussed in America for more than
one decade, and it remains one of the most debated topics in today s classrooms, newspapers, and
Senate hearings. According to the National Institutes of Health s website, stem cells are cells which
have the capability of becoming virtually any other type of cell. As the NIH points out, this
differentiation ability could lead to the cures of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that during the year 2001, then President George W. Bush signed an executive order,
which restrictively allowed some federal funding to go towards stem cell research . The executive
order was restrictive in the sense that it only allowed the use of taxpayers money to go into stem cells
which had preceded the order itself. Before that time, stem cell research had not received any funding
at all. Shimabukuro continues by stating that a few years later (in 2009, to be specific), however,
current President Barack Obama expanded the funding to include many more stem cells than Bush had
allowed. Shimabukuro says that, ... this measure was celebrated by scientists all over the United
States, as it gave them access to more resources to investigate. According to him, not too long ago,
two members of Congress introduced a bill that would complement Obama s executive order by
giving more federal funding and access to resources to scientists. This would force any future pro life
President to have to resort to Congress in order to be able to downgrade to Bush s policies once again.
Many Congressmen are supportive of stem cell research, but some are not. Some of the reasons why
some people do not support stem cell research will be examined in this paper. Most of the controversy
regarding stem cells arises from a specific type of stem cells, namely human embryonic stem cells. As
explained in Fundamentals of the Stem Cell Debate, a compilation of

Plastic Persuasive Speech
Yes, you read that correctly. Currently, I am trying to cut plastic out of my life, and so is Charleston.
Why, you ask? There are so many reasons, but I ll start with this:
By the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Here s the scoop
Plastic never, ever, ever, ever, ever goes away. It will continue to break down, but it will never fully
decompose. What does this mean for our ocean? It means that more and more plastic is getting into
our waterways and ocean life is consuming the plastic, thinking it is food. Unfortunately, they are
being poisoned by our trash. They are also consuming it, and think about this, then we eat that fish,
which means we are consuming the plastic YUCK!
How is plastic getting into our oceans in such large quantities? Some of it is coming from boats, but
this is a very small quantity. Most of it is simply coming from littering. This means littering on the
beach, on our streets, etc. Think about how our litter gets blown into the sewer...then it eventually
makes it way into the ocean.
So, what can you do to cut out plastic? First, start looking around you. Becoming aware of how much
plastic you encounter on a daily basis is a huge eye opener. Plastic is everywhere. There is the the
plastic that helps you (medical equipment, your car, etc.). Then, there is one time use, convenient
plastics (straws, styrofoam containers, plastic bags/baggies, etc.).
Once you start becoming aware of what

The Importance Of Happiness And Happiness
Have you ever truly sat and considered what makes you truly happy? Often times, people answer
directly with the response of money. We say this without deeply considering all that we have to be
grateful for. Happiness is not achieved through wealth instead through experiences, the family we
love, and the nature that surrounds us, literature has created a great impact upon the ideals we consider
to create our happiness. The texts, High incomes don t bring you Happiness and You can buy
Happiness, if it s an Experience , completes the idea that monetary value does not bring true joy. In the
passage, High incomes don t bring you Happiness , the author states that bringing in an over excessive
amount of money will not make one happy. The author said that an overall income of around $75,000
will complete one s emotional well being, while anything over that will complete a life evaluation.
Life evaluation is the idea that if one was to look at themselves while they re in their deathbed, how
would they rate their lifestyle. This is also supported through different statements within the passage,
You can buy Happiness, if it s an Experience . Within this study, it was proven that people enjoyed
money, but often spent it on materialistic items which leaves them with a temporary feeling of
satisfaction, while when they are given a fully paid trip to the Bahamas, the feeling of peace and joy
lasts far longer than when they were to purchase an item of materialistic value. This

In General, The Word Miseducation Means To Educate...
In general, the word miseducation means to educate improperly. There are likely several ways I have
been miseducated, some of which I may not even be aware of yet. I have long understood that
education can happen outside a classroom. In fact many valuable life lessons were learned just going
about day to day activities. Some of the best learnings have come from raising a child, experiencing
and enduring tragedy and of course family has provided positive and negative lessons. When I think
about miseducation I instantly go to my experiences within the education system. It is ironic to think
that the education system may have educated me improperly. I have two university experiences, one
past and one present, that provide clarification.

with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and immediately be eligible to register as a Dietitian. No one is
miseducated of the outcome when applying to the program today.
My second university experience is occurring at present. I have enrolled in the twelve month Bachelor
of Education program to become an elementary teacher. I hope to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts
much to my family s surprise. From day one we have been educated on the pitfalls of the current
education system. We have been guided to examine the system, the purpose of school and the hidden
curriculum with a critical eye. We have been encouraged to promote democratic and enacted learning,
to take brain breaks and we have been taught that the brain is incapable of learning when it is in a
stressed state. We have seen wonderful examples of teachers modeling enacted learning and by no

  • 2. How To Write A Rhetorical Analysis Of Shooting An Elephant Introduction: Shooting an Elephant is an exposition composed by George Orwell. It was first distributed in the artistic magazine New Writing in late 1936 and communicate by the BBC Home Service on 12 October 1948. George Orwell was an English author, writer, columnist, and commentator. His exposition depicts the experience of the English storyteller, conceivably Orwell himself, called upon to shoot a forceful elephant while acting as a cop in Burma. Statement of the Problem: In the paper, the essayist don t endeavor to murder the elephant Orwell, realizing that the elephant is most likely no longer unsafe, has no aim of shooting the elephant. In spite of Orwell s abhorrence for shooting the elephant, he turns out to be all of a sudden mindful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is eased, he concedes, that the coolie kicked the bucket, since it gave him an affection for shooting the elephant. To the extent his kindred officers are concerned, he made the best decision. To the extent the locals are concerned, he concealed any hint of failure confront. However Orwell finishes up, I regularly pondered whether any of the others got a handle on that I had done it exclusively to abstain from looking a trick. Orwell can better comprehend government through his run in with the elephant on the grounds that the elephant fills in as an image of imperialism. For instance, much like the Burmese who have been colonized and who mishandle Orwell, the elephant has been incited to dangerous conduct by being mistreated. While its ruinous conduct, and the Burmese more unobtrusive insubordination may not be unequivocally great things, they are made reasonable given the harsh conditions both the elephant and the Burmese have needed to persevere. ... • 3. Analysis of Jim Collin s Great by Choice Essay Human Sexuality Assignment At its core, Great By Choice is a deep exploration of what distinguishes top performers from their peers during times of chaos, crisis, instability and uncertainty. Rigorous in its approach but practical in its presentation, Great By Choice to me seems like the perfect handbook for college seniors such as myself. In tackling the question of what distinguishes top performers in times of uncertainty, the authors first define what exactly a top performer is and then highlights the three key ingredients that these individuals were discovered to possess. 10Xers are leaders who built companies that started from a position of vulnerability, rose to beat their respective industries by at least 10 times, and did so in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basically a forward thinking individual who understands that slow and steady wins the race who is armed with patience, drive, and the ability to sell their dream to others is needed to obtain success before anything else. According to Collins the fire bullets, then cannonballs approach is the best way to explain the success of large companies. The concept is sort of an homage to the days before automatic handguns. It takes a lot less gunpowder to fire a bullet than a cannonball, so it is more effective and plausible to start a battle with bullets; and once enough time has been spent preparing for the big finish then a cannonball can and should be fired. A bullet is a low distraction, low risk, and low cost test or experiement. There are two types of cannonballs, uncalibrated and calibrated. A calibrated cannonball is an idea or concept that is backed by evidence, or in this case empirical validation. A uncalibrated cannonball, in more or less words, is when one places all their eggs in one basket without taking the time to obtain empirical validation. Again, slow and steady wins the race. Intel s founders believed that innovation without discipline leads to disaster. This means having the patience to cultivate, check and double check an idea to make certain it can be executed and delivered. With this patience one must take it upon themselves to figure out what will and will not work. There is no way to predict the future, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aircraft Solutions Assessment Essay Course Project: Security Assessment and Recommendations Aircraft Solutions SEC: 571 Adam Grann Professor: Reynolds Weaknesses are a symptom that is prevalent in today s information technology realm, indicating vulnerabilities and risks that come hand and hand with shared networks like Aircraft Solutions. With enterprises exchanging an unprecedented level of information over open networks, the vulnerabilities and possibility of compromised security by unwanted intruders is swelling up into a new type of beast. The consequences of leaving all their information in one location can be catastrophic to the company s operation and integrity as valued by their clients. Remotely storing vital information should be the first precaution taken when installing an archive full of fragile data. NAS (network attached storage), typically used in the form of cloud or RAID devices provides a safe approach to storing company information. Common uses are central file storage, media streaming, print serving and backup for all the local drives on your network. You can even access most NAS drives from the Internet if desired. (How to Buy Network Attached Storage Drives, Becky Waring). If the NAS devices aren t sufficient, file servers can support up to 25 users simultaneously and meet the high demands of the usage that typically come with a large network. Business Process Management (BPM) software is a crucial aspect in security policy and infrastructure and another major concern for this firm. Considering the layout of the network, in which employees from various locations and customers ranging around the globe can access, Aircraft Solutions should be sure their BPM is strong. One of the primary goals of instituting a business process management system is to provide greater accountability for departmental functions, from tracking and monitoring expenditures to ensuring deliverables are met. ... • 5. Destruction Of Rwanda Between the 1870s and 1900, much of Africa was scavenged at the hands of Europeans, divvied up between Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain without much regard to the people who actually inhabited the continent [Fouberg et al, Iweriebor]. From this, Rwanda arose as an entity, as part of German East Africa, after the League of Nations mandate of Belgium following World War I. Rwanda is located inland on the African continent, just below the equator, and surrounded by Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda (as seen in the map on page 3). Roughly 85% of Rwanda s population consists of Hutus and the remaining 15% Tutsi, with a small population of Twa, a Pygmy group who were the original inhabitants of Rwanda [The Rwandan Genocide, 2009]. • 8. Socrates Unjust Man Throughout The Republic, Plato tries to paint a picture of a just man and an unjust man. Socrates is constantly challenged at both ends of the topic. Answering to the challenges Socrates describes an unjust man as happy on paper, and a just man happy and content in their soul. An unjust man in Socrates view is a rich man. An unjust man is only happy on paper but is that real happiness. An unjust man always wants more than he can obtain, and tries to gain it, when he cannot he is disappointed. An unjust man will be mean with their own money... but they ll love to spend other people s because of their appetites. Plato divides the soul into two sections reason, spirit/indignation and appetites/desires. The unjust person lets his indignation and desires rule and keeps reason on the sideline. Once one of those takes place of reason, the man is in a state of chaos and starts behaving unjustly. The more the appetite grows the more unhappy he becomes, being subjected to his desires. Socrates goes on to explain an unjust man by comparing different societies and shows how they all start from a just society. However, they become corrupted. This is explained while Socrates describes the transformation from a Timocracy government to an Oligarchy. Socrates explains how if a person were to proceed further into money making, the more they value it, and the more they would be enslaved by it. Furthermore, Plato saves the worst society for last, Tyranny. Some people may consider them to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. A Link Between Africa And The Rest Of The World African civilization, like most other societies have their own set of creation stories which can be seen in the Christian Bible or folk stories that are told in other parts of the world. One example is the Asante Tower to Heaven which can be seen as a parallel to the Tower of Babel story told in the book of Genesis in the Bible. Both involved people on Earth trying to reach God in heaven by building towers and ultimately failing. Just this example can show a link between Africa and the rest of the world. These creation myths, from the San, Dogon, and Yoruba people, come from the prominent local religions from early times in different parts of Africa. These stories and religious rituals lasted until Christian missionaries came and converted a large portion of the population to Christianity, which diminished those that adhered to the original religions. Another topic heavily discussed by those interviewed was the economic status of those in Africa today. Jamie spoke about her concern for African poverty, I would have to say that I care most about the high amount of poverty in Africa, I mean our poor over here is their rich . Another interviewee, Allison expressed a similar sentiment, I care most about the underdevelopment of Africa, there s a lot of people over there that is less fortunate than we are over here and they have less opportunities over there . This phenomenon of Africa being perceived as underdeveloped was discussed by Walter Rodney in How Africa Developed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Themes In A Rose For Emily In the short story A Rose for Emily , William Faulkner writes about a woman s life through the eyes of Southern townspeople. The main character, Emily Grierson, struggles with her life because of the townspeople s perspective of her actions. Because of the many references that are made throughout the story, the setting is very recognizable and easy to identify. Although the southern references are very distinct, many of these southern values, norms, and perspectives vary and change throughout the years. Throughout the story, Faulkner describes the story s setting through historical, social, and cultural references towards certain eras. In the beginning of the story, the readers are told that Emily lived in a big, squarish frame house that had once been white, decorated with cupolas and spires and scrolled balconies in the heavily lightsome style of the seventies (998). The style of Emily s house portrays an old plantation house. These types of houses were mainly used during Civil War because of the popularity of slavery in the South. Because the story is set in the South, much of the South s past during the Civil War is mentioned. The narrator explains Colonel Sartoris made a decree that stated, no Negro woman should appear on the streets without an apron (998). During the Civil War and post Civil War eras, white people had control over the actions of African Americans. Because of what is known about the South during the Civil War, Colonel Sartoris s ... The disability community has worked long and hard to ensure that people with disabilities are included in conventional American life and not sent away to institutions such as mental hospitals and nursing homes. While the disability community has made large strides towards equality, there is still much to come until people with disabilities are truly integrated in mainstream life. For example, Scott Randolf, a Vietnam veteran who lost his sight and legs from duty, complains that he is not getting the help he needs. This protest was a huge victory for the Disability Rights movement across the nation because people with disabilities saw that they could create major change. Two years later, protesters were anxiously waiting at the United States Capitol for the ADA to pass. The passage of the ADA was stalled by public transit companies complaining about the strict regulations set around accessibility that would be hard to implement. Many people approached the Capitol and set their wheelchairs, crutches, and canes aside to begin crawling up the steps of the Capitol. This was known as the Capitol Crawl (See Appendix A). A Farewell to Arms, written by Ernest Hemingway, is a recollection of his war experiences. The protagonist, an American Lieutenant named Fredric Henry, struggles to find the middle ground between his affair with the beautiful and radiant Catherine Barkley and pursuing heroism in the Great War. The lovers lives are turned upside down once they realize they are infatuated with each other. Like Lieutenant Henry, when Hemingway was serving at the front, he was wounded, was decorated by the Italian Government, and spent considerable time in hospitals (nobelprize.org). Path Analysis Paper Main analyses involved running each of three models through AMOS SEM software separately, using path analysis techniques to assess direct and indirect effects, among the present observed variables (Arbuckle, 2013). Path analysis, which is based on multiple regressions, examines the relationship between exogenous (i.e., variable not causes by another variable, but effects one or more variables in model) and endogenous variables (i.e., a variable that is caused or effected by one or more variables in a model; Iacobucci, 2010). Path models examine the total effects, as well as the direct and indirect of effects of variables in a single model, simultaneously (Peterson et al., 2014). Structural equation modeling path analysis techniques are superior to standard regression analyses in that they: 1) provide more accurate estimates of the effects of hypothesized variables; 2) estimate all effects simultaneously; 3) allow for greater accuracy of parameter estimates when examining competing models; and 4) allow the researcher to compare effects of multiple mediators (Zhao, Lynch, Chen, 2010). Being a good communicator plays a huge role into being an effective teacher. Many students will have tons of questions, and you re not able to answer those questions in an effective way then you re setting your kid up for failure. Being a good listener to me, shows that you actually care what the student have to say. In my past I ve teachers who didn t even bother to care what I said, so I took that as disrespect and why should I show you respect if it s not coming back the other way? In fact, this happens quite often, and much like other forms of art, different types of music influence each other regularly and co exist to create newer forms of music. A brilliant example of this is demonstrated through the music of Claude Debussy and his widespread influence on 20th century music. Considered one of the fathers of impressionistic music (a title he personally disapproved of), Debussy s selection of harmony opened an entirely new realm of harmonic possibilities that hadn t existed previously. Through the implementation of extended harmonies and flowing non diatonic melodies (among other techniques) he carved a unique sound completely different from his contemporaries. One of the main reasons that I have been able to thrive under these circumstances is because of my family members ensuring my safety. My family has always been rigorous about teaching me how to stay safe from the many dangers on our farm that could leave me vulnerable to injury and illness. On our farm, we consider the health and safety of our family to be our number one priority. When I was young, my parents restricted my access to worksites on the farm and were certain to reduce my exposure to hazardous situations to ensure my safety and well being. But it appears that the Haggada in Midrash Proverbs was taken verbatim from Avot de R. • 33. Plastic Persuasive Speech Yes, you read that correctly. Currently, I am trying to cut plastic out of my life, and so is Charleston. Why, you ask? There are so many reasons, but I ll start with this: By the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Yes, you read that correctly. Here s the scoop Plastic never, ever, ever, ever, ever goes away. It will continue to break down, but it will never fully decompose. What does this mean for our ocean? It means that more and more plastic is getting into our waterways and ocean life is consuming the plastic, thinking it is food. Unfortunately, they are being poisoned by our trash. They are also consuming it, and think about this, then we eat that fish, which means we are consuming the plastic YUCK! How is plastic getting into our oceans in such large quantities? Some of it is coming from boats, but this is a very small quantity. Most of it is simply coming from littering. This means littering on the beach, on our streets, etc. Think about how our litter gets blown into the sewer...then it eventually makes it way into the ocean. So, what can you do to cut out plastic? First, start looking around you. Becoming aware of how much plastic you encounter on a daily basis is a huge eye opener. Plastic is everywhere. • 34. The Importance Of Happiness And Happiness Have you ever truly sat and considered what makes you truly happy? Often times, people answer directly with the response of money. We say this without deeply considering all that we have to be grateful for. Happiness is not achieved through wealth instead through experiences, the family we love, and the nature that surrounds us, literature has created a great impact upon the ideals we consider to create our happiness. The texts, High incomes don t bring you Happiness and You can buy Happiness, if it s an Experience , completes the idea that monetary value does not bring true joy. In the passage, High incomes don t bring you Happiness , the author states that bringing in an over excessive amount of money will not make one happy. The author said that an overall income of around $75,000 will complete one s emotional well being, while anything over that will complete a life evaluation. Life evaluation is the idea that if one was to look at themselves while they re in their deathbed, how would they rate their lifestyle. This is also supported through different statements within the passage, You can buy Happiness, if it s an Experience . Within this study, it was proven that people enjoyed money, but often spent it on materialistic items which leaves them with a temporary feeling of satisfaction, while when they are given a fully paid trip to the Bahamas, the feeling of peace and joy lasts far longer than when they were to purchase an item of materialistic value. • 35. In General, The Word Miseducation Means To Educate... In general, the word miseducation means to educate improperly. There are likely several ways I have been miseducated, some of which I may not even be aware of yet. I have long understood that education can happen outside a classroom. In fact many valuable life lessons were learned just going about day to day activities. Some of the best learnings have come from raising a child, experiencing and enduring tragedy and of course family has provided positive and negative lessons. When I think about miseducation I instantly go to my experiences within the education system. It is ironic to think that the education system may have educated me improperly. I have two university experiences, one past and one present, that provide clarification. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not exactly the professional I had aimed to become. I worked a position that did not require a degree. I was fortunate on my second application and did go onto become a Registered Dietitian. Those that were unsuccessful at securing an internship never became Dietitians. Some went back to university and some to general jobs in society. This program has since been significantly revised. Today, the internship is integrated into the program. If you are accepted into the program you will still graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and immediately be eligible to register as a Dietitian. No one is miseducated of the outcome when applying to the program today. My second university experience is occurring at present. I have enrolled in the twelve month Bachelor of Education program to become an elementary teacher. I hope to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts much to my family s surprise. From day one we have been educated on the pitfalls of the current education system. We have been guided to examine the system, the purpose of school and the hidden curriculum with a critical eye. We have been encouraged to promote democratic and enacted learning, to take brain breaks and we have been taught that the brain is incapable of learning when it is in a stressed state. We have seen wonderful examples of teachers modeling enacted learning and by no means do I mean my comments to be disrespectful of any instructor. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
