Competitive Advantage
Competitive advantages are strengths and strategies that keep a company ahead of its competitors. It is
hard to measure competitive advantage and harder to maintain it. Some competitive advantages are
fleeting. The successful companies are those that leverage their competitive advantage successfully
and repeatedly. As understood by us in the above example the competitive advantage that the
cyrptoses enjoy is a direct outcome of its natural habitat and hence the circumstantial gain over its
rivals. Cryptoses has strategically positioned and tactically planned its competitive advantage that
even though its fleeting, its competitive advantage is repetitive and successful. The other name for this
sort of competitive advantage could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But nothing lasts for ever, as the market matures there are new entrants and it posses a threat to the
competitive advantage. (fig. 2) Gradually with the time competition starts meeting the customer
expectations and the competitive advantage tends to reduce. Example As the company that created the
spreadsheet for PCs, Lotus led the way through much of the 1980s with its 1 2 3. But Lotus did not
foresee the success that Windows would have and failed to develop a version of 1 2 3 for it until 1991.
By then Microsoft s Excel had moved in to dominate the market. The duration of the competitive
advantage is subjective, it depends on impact by the competitors affecting the source of competitive
advantage. Microsoft Corporation is in a class by itself when it comes to exploiting the source for
competitive advantage. IBM chose Microsoft in 1980 to write the operating system for its new
personal computers. Microsoft produced DOS for IBM and then licensed it to more than 100
companies turning out IBM clones. Since it knew more than anyone else about the operating system
for PCs, Microsoft had a head start on applications software like word processing and spreadsheet
programs. Over the years its applications programs became leaders. In the mid 1980s, Microsoft
developed the Windows operating system, giving PCs some of the power and ease of use that had
been associated with Apple computers. Microsoft

Antigone And Kohlberg s Levels Of Moral
Morality is dealing with established principles of right and wrong behavior. Lawrence Kohlberg s
levels of moral development explain one s stage of morality in life. Morals leads to the law of
conscience by the actions one chooses to act upon whether for the better or worse. Both Antigone and
Ghandi are stage six based on their universal human rights and their individual conscience. Antigone
shows many examples of her universal human rights and her individual conscience. From Antigone,
Antigone is a stage six because she buries her brother Polynices. She breaks Creon s forbidden law to
follow her own conscience. This is displayed when it states, But I will bury him: and if I must die,/ I
say that this crime is holy... (Sophocles 774). Antigone

Where The Wild Things Are By Maurice Sendak
1. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is an exuberant picture book which will make it a
fun and exciting read. The compressed language will guide children easily throughout the book.
Sendak promotes a touching message of unconditional love, a message that even if one misbehaves,
there will be supper waiting on the table (Max does get sent to his room, but no matter how much he
has misbehaved, his mother will always love him and cherish him). Sendak also dives into deeper
psychological emotions . Max might be seen and chastised as a wild thing by his mother, his
emotional actions are described as an integral part of his being, maybe not quite appropriate, but also
not completely inappropriate, rather as a living, breathing part of Max s being. It is these emotions,
these feelings that are the impetus to Max s adventures in the realm of the Wild Things.
2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle captures young readers with its vivid and colorful
collage illustrations and its deceptively hopeful story. With its die cut pages and finger sized holes to
explore, this is a satisfying book for children. The main character has to overcome his ravenous
appetite on his journey to become a butterfly will simply entice children and hopefully inspire them.
3. The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg is a book filled with pure magic and wonder. The moral of
the story is to dive in and believe, leaving reality behind. This book will not only let children indulge

A Report On Woolworths Company
My chosen business that my report will be based on is the Woolworths company, known primarily in
Australia for their supermarket s and retail chains. Woolworths run several high profile Australian
stores such as BWS, Dan Murphys, Big W and the highly publicized Masters. The reason for my
choice of Woolworths was that as they are one of the biggest companies and employers in Australia,
and have recently been in the media spotlight for the closing of one of the recent projects Masters.
Another major reason as to my choice of Woolworths is that there supply chain would be as
interesting and extensive as any other Australian based company. With almost a thousand
supermarkets Australia wide and over 100 thousand staff, Woolworths is one of the countries
prominent employers (Woolworths limited 2012).
An added incentive as to why I chose to do my report on Woolworths was that they are my current
employer. I believe that by learning more about the current supply chain structure and management of
the company that I do indeed work for, will give me a more detailed overview of the job that I am
currently doing. By understanding more about the company you re involved will hopefully keep me
motivated and improve my work leading to a happier time whilst I am working (Gelles 2013 p.37). As
a billion dollar company, Woolworths would have to be very careful and deliberate with who and what
there supply chain consists of. With the vast variety of social media and news sources in the current

A Closer Look At I.a. Richards
A Closer Look at I.A. Richards and Semantic Triangle Theory
I.A. Richards said, Language, if it is to be used, must be a ready instrument (Russo, 2015). He thrived
off of his need to understand the use of language and it is a common and recurring theme throughout
his work. Richards was a teacher, philosopher, poet, prolific speaker, lover of books and words
themselves (Russo, 2015). A complex man who led a complicated life, Richards ultimately facilitated
a way to better understand the intricate process of how words gain meaning (Golden, Berquist,
Coleman, Sproule, 2010). Through examining the semantic triangle theory, a student can understand
how to become an efficient communicator. Discussed below is a basic introduction to Richards, ...

Richards ) In 1939, he began teaching English at Harvard and stayed taught there for a quarter of a
century ( I.A. Richards). He died in 1979, but he will never be forgotten, for he has made an
everlasting impact on the studies of linguistics and rhetoric ( I.A. Richards).
What is the Semantic Triangle? According to The Theory of Western Thought, The best known
rhetorical device developed in The Meaning of Meaning is perhaps the semantic triangle (Golden,
Berquist, Coleman, Sproule, 2010, pg. 265). Ogden and Richards determined that people generally see
words as things in reality therefore we confuse the symbol or word with the thing or object in reality
(Golden, Berquist, Coleman, Sproule, 2010). For example, the word FAN would literally be
perpetually twirling propellers to produce wind. Of course, one intellectually understands that the
object and the word are not the same thing, however, while humans communicate, as Ogden and
Richards argue, we tend to make a necessary connection between the word and the reality of the
object, which they refer to as the referent (Golden, Berquist, Coleman, Sproule, 2010). Simply put,
our experience with a word or object, is parallel to our basic understanding of the object we use the
word to refer to.

Technology and Software in Relation to Multicultural...
Technology and Software in Relation to Multicultural Education
As the times change, so must an educator s style of teaching. Computer technology can play a large
role in this change. There are many reasons and ways schools can introduce this technology into their
curriculum. There will be three of these reasons and ways discussed in the following pages. In today s
society, many people believe it is time for school reform. The problem is employers are concerned that
high school graduates do not have the necessary skills to be successful at a job when they graduate.
Some researchers say that these reform efforts need to focus on the root causes of school problems

They allow the leaner to use it for representation and expression of what they know. Learners of any
age or culture can use the tools for analyzing the world, accessing information, and interpreting and
organizing personal knowledge. With an increased emphasis on more teacher discretion over teaching
and learning, constructivism in the classroom has a potential to increase. The basic relationship
between teacher and students is changing because technology gives learners control over their own
learning, which are the primary tenets of constructivism. The use of technology can have a great effect
of schools. It enables every student to gain control of there own learning (International). Technology
can also be integrated into the class through the use of software. Selecting the software is one of the
most important components of success when using it for instruction. One has to take the needs and
characteristics of each learner into consideration. There are hundreds of types of software available.
The teachers who will be using it with the assistance from the technology coordinator should make the
selection decisions about software. There are factors, which need to be addressed when selecting
software. They are content, instruction, student relevance, operation, design, and package components.
The area of content says that the objectives should be clearly stated. It should have a purpose for the
students and teachers. Moreover, the content has to

Summary Of Miss Mabel s School For Girls
First of all, I would love to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book so soon after I finished
the Miss Mabel s School for Girls. Let it be known that I absolutely loved Miss Mabel s School for
Girls, the first book in Katie Cross Network Series. It had wonderful characters, beautiful imagery,
and much more. It whisked you to a place of mysterious magic that you can t quite get over even after
you finish the book. It enraptured me and made me an instant fan. It seems rare that I love a sequel
just as much as the original, and it has only happened a few times before but Antebellum Awakening
has just joined that short list.I found the first, Miss Mabel s School for Girls, on NetGalley and I am so
glad I did. After posting my praise on this blog and all my other social media platforms, the author
offered me a copy of the second novel as well as a novella which I can t wait to dive into, by the way.
I loved that in this book we had an entirely new setting, it no longer takes place at Miss Mabel s but
rather at Chatham Castle which is basically the capitol of the Central Network. We get to explore so
much more in this book, we even travel to another Network in Antebellum. I also loved the addition of
the new characters and creatures, especially Merrick and Sonna. ... Show more content on

Considering that the first book was set at an entirely all girl s school romance wasn t much of an
option. What I liked most about the addition, though, was the fact that the romance was centered
around Bianca s friends rather than herself. Yes, there are still hints of it between her and Merrick but
it is hardly a blossoming romance or anything of the sort, especially when compared with the
descriptions of Camille and Brecken or Michelle and Nicholas. This book kept up my favorite part of
the first book, and that was the all around girl power. The girls in these books basically rule, and it is

Masculinity In Brokeback Mountain And Blood Meridian
Ang Lee s Brokeback Mountain and Cormac McCarthy s Blood Meridian both challenge the
traditional societal views of masculinity in the Western genre. Brokeback Mountain depicts two
cowboys involved in a homosexual relationship, focusing on coupling the opposing themes of
homosexuality and masculinity. On the other hand, Blood Meridian introduces the reader to the Kid,
who courageously establishes his own masculinity outside of the Judge s hypermasculine and
traditional Western philosophy.
Brokeback Mountain and Blood Meridian are both classified as Westerns. The Western is a beloved
American genre that features the quintessential cowboy hero. He is fearless, independent and
incredibly masculine. The iconic cowboy costume used in film and ... Show more content on

The constant struggle between the two characters to be together is heartbreaking and Jack s death is
purposely shown as a murder in order to create an emotional response from the audience. Roughton
(2014, p. 89) highlights that Jack s death being foreshadowed by Ennis witnessing the result of a
bashing of a gay man as a child, links violence and punishment to homosexuality and sinning.
Arguably, the biggest contester to homosexuality is the potential for sin. However, by introducing the
audience to two characters whom they grow attached to and want to see happy, then demonstrating the
consequences of their love in our current society, sparks a reaction from the audience that causes them
to question why these traditional masculine values exist in our society. Hence, although Brokeback
Mountain combines masculine icons with homosexuality to question traditional masculinity associated
with the Western, it also demonstrates the consequences of challenging such values in our current
society in order to highlight to the audience how devastating masculinity and its expectations can

This program s goal is to reduce the lure of gangs for young children. While the program has been
shown to be effective in studies, it is not viewed as well by officer at LPD. I do not believe this

a simple map of crime. This program could have possibly had an effect on crime and the number of

Compare And Contrast Dreamworks And Disney
Animated films are one of the most entertaining forms of media out there. When it comes to animated
films, two major film companies may come to mind: DreamWorks and Disney. For the past couple of
years, people have been asking which company is better, and the answer is quite simply Disney. They
have better stories, they maintain a certain theme, they are consistent, and extremely successful which
is what makes them stand out from other studios and film companies. Of course, DreamWorks has
some of these qualities as well, but they are far and few in between.
Disney, when it comes to their stories, almost always deliver. They have made some of the most iconic
films with brilliant stories such as Aladdin, Lion King, Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast,
etc. Granted, they haven t always made the best films, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. They
take time to make their films great and usually release a film once a year. DreamWorks has focused
more on the quantity instead of the quality of their films, releasing at least 2 3 movies a year. Because
of this, only some good movies like Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, etc. have
come about and the rest only earning 7/10 or lower.
Disney has always been consistent and has maintained two certain themes since the 1930 s, the first is
to Follow Your Dreams. They ve applied this to the older movies like Pinocchio and Dumbo, and they
apply them to today s movies like Tangled or Wreck It Ralph just

Psychographic, Behavioral and Demographic Characteristics
Developing a marketing strategy is an important tool to understand the company s target customers.
This helps to understand and communicate with the customer base and translate their needs
effectively. The two major strategies of segmentation are concentration and multi segment strategy.
Concentration strategy focuses or concentrates on a set group of consumers who are limited and will
use that brand. For example the manufacturers of BMW cars are concentrating on customers who
prefer high end cars and will focus their energies in the luxury segment of the car market. They will
give complete attention to customers who prefer to buy the car for the status symbol and brand image
that BMW carries and so the manufacturer will choose to focus all of their efforts on a single segment.
If BMW chose to use a multi segment strategy they would be marketing to every car user not for
brand image alone but purposes such as cars that are used on a daily basis by the working class for
mileage, reasonable pricing and other such practical aspects, this will not help BMW maintain their
brand value which may be affected and diminish in value. BMW has defined its market and it s
product as a luxury brand, high end car and that is the strategy they continue to concentrate

Supporting Interactive System Testing with
Interaction Sequences

1 Research Topic
An interactive system is a piece of software or a device which requires human input. It consists of a
user interface which the user interacts with to access the underlying functions, described formally in
code. This allows the user to easily manipulate the system in order to complete some task. An
important subset of interactive systems is safety critical interactive systems (a system in which errors
can lead to injury or even death to the user). Unfortunately, the testing of these systems is currently
inadequate, resulting in serious harm or even fatalities (see [1] [2]).
A test is de ned in the Oxford Dictionary as: A procedure intended to establish the quality,
performance, or reliability of something, especially before it is taken into widespread use ; [3]. The
purpose of interactive system testing is not only to ensure that the system does what it is expected to,
but also to identify problems within the current version of the system. The resolution of these
problems will help to establish the quality, performance and/or reliability [3] of the system and help to
avoid future incidents.
In this research we propose using interaction sequences as an abstraction of the system under test to
support the testing process. An interaction sequence is the series of steps a user can take to perform a

The idea of agritourism urges guests to experience agricultural life at first hand. Agritourism is
gathering strong backing from little groups as rural people have realised the advantages of sustainable
development achieved by similar types of nature travel. Visitors have the chance to work in the fields
alongside real farmers and wade knee somewhere down in the ocean with fisherman pulling in their
nets. Agritourism incorporates a wide assortment of activities, including including buying produce

70.
There are a few reasons why this view struggles to adequately explain the prophecy of the seventy
weeks. The actual time span of the week varies between the time periods. If God was trying to reveal
anything to Daniel about when these things would take place than a good assumption would be that
the weeks would be similar in scope of time. Another issue that would have to be addressed by
proponents of this view is how the first advent of Christ solves everything that is to take place in verse
24 of Daniel 9. The last thing that needs to be answered is why does the destruction of Jerusalem take
place before the sixty nine weeks if it is clearly lined out in the prophecy to be after the sixty nine
weeks? (verse 26)
The Covenantal View
The covenantal view is a view that also holds that the time periods are symbolic. This view also
begins at the decree given by Cyrus in Ezra 1 after the 70 year captivity around 538 B.C. It has sixty
nine weeks from that date leading up to the death of Christ around 33 A.D. at which point the
seventieth week kicks off and continues until the apocalypse. This view has serious issues with the
periods of time not being equal. The last week for instance has lasted for the previous 2000 years and
is continuing through the present time. The sixty nine weeks from the decree of Cyrus to the death of
Christ equal about eight years per week. The strength of this view is that it is trying to

In particular, a lot of of methods exists to incorporate micrometer to centimeter scale of chemical
gradients and complex biomaterials incorporating such gradients[5].
In our study we have used Xanthan Gum, a natural polymer to form hydrogel with HEMA. A hydrogel
is a three dimensional cross linked polymeric network formed between a hydrophilic polymer like
Xanthan gum and a hydrophobic polymer like HEMA. Here the solution of Xanthan gum and HEMA
was cross linked with N,N,N,N Tetra methylethylenediamine (TEMED) and Ammonium Persulphate
(APS). The hydrogels formed from naturally occurring polymers have remarkable use in many
biomedical applications like wound healing. These hydrogels show a better response in swelling
compared to hydrogels formed from synthetic polymer. They possesses anti microbial properties
whereas synthetic matrial based hydrogels need to incorporate antimicrobial agent to comprise
antimicrobial property within the hydrogel. Hydrogels made from the naturally occurring polymer of
xanthan gum are a type of biomaterial. These polymeric biomaterials have promising applications in
drug delivery, tissueengineering, biomedical sensing, skin grafting, medical adhesives and textiles.

I came for the nest Sabbath day and that day I was baptized. That hole was filled, my heart was full,
and it knew that Heavenly Mother had saved my soul.Among the many prophecies in the Bible, one of
the most important is that concerning Heavenly Mother who gives life. Jesus came to this Earth about
two thousand years ago and he taught his disciples the way through which they could receive
salvation, that is, the Passover (Jn 6:53.) Even at that time hecould have given eternal life and taken
them to Heaven, but instead he told them to wait until the Last Days (Jn 6:54.) This is because that is
the time Heavenly Mother appears. In Matthew 22:1 10 Jesus told a parable, in which he compared the
Kingdom of Heaven to a wedding banquet. Being invited to thewedding banquet is the same as being
invited to the Kingdom of Heaven. To have a wedding there must be a groom, a bride, and guests. In
the parable there is a groom, and guests, but no bride even thoughthe bride is the most important piece
of a wedding. This is because she was not ready at Jesus s firstcoming, but at his second coming. That
s why Revelations 19:7 NIV says Let us rejoice and be glad and give him Glory! For the wedding of
the Lamb(Christ) has come, and his bride has made herself ready! The bride is ready in the Last Days.
Rev 21:9 10 say that this bride is the New Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven. Just as Jesus is not

The Metamorphosis By Gregor Samsa
The Metamorphosis is a story of the transformation of an urban family through the shocking alteration
of family breadwinner, Gregor Samsa. Gregor s position profoundly changes his self feelings as well
as his relationship with his family. This change of events drastically alters the family s lifestyle and
metamorphoses each member. Gregor s sister, Grete, starts with utmost admiration which stagnates
into resentment. His father starts off headstrong and grows weary. His mother s cheer turns into doubt.
The Metamorphosis not only illustrates the profound changes in Gregor, but those of Grete, Mrs.
Samsa and Mr. Samsa. Many of these changes occur within the minds of Gregor and his family but are
also influenced by the scenarios that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father then stopped working altogether, his sister Grete was too young to work, his mother was ill
with asthma; thus young Gregor not only supported the whole family but also found for them the
apartment they are now living in (Nabokov). Despite his condition and dislike for his job as a travel
salesman, Gregor still seemed concerned to get to work in order to provide for his family. He never
even speculated the cause of his altered physical state. Gradually, Gregor became used to his new role
as an insect. Aside from late day inquiries of his family regarding his behavior and regular feeding
intervals which allow for minimal interaction, he became largely ignored. After attempting to save his
favorite poster of a woman in fur, chaos took place in the household. He was soon considered a
burdensome nuisance. He had nothing to contribute to the well being of his family other than being a
pest. Eventually, Gregor s will to live was crushed by the feelings of self contempt and worthlessness.
All hopes of returning to normality were squashed with every attempt he made to interact. His
withdrawal from his family guided him further and further into retreat and isolation. He emotionally
dried up within his shell and inside the shadows. Though Gregor s change was physical, Grete
transformed in an emotional way. Her relationship with her brother was drastically altered over the
course of the story. Initially, she was kind to Gregor in his state. However, after

Squalane Lab Report
Squalane is a hydrocarbon closely related to the compound squalene, which has a role in hopanoid
synthesis in bacteria. Hopanoids have an important role in regulating membrane fluidity at different
temperatures. Squalane was added to samples of Rhodobacter Sphaeroides in low, ideal, and high
temperature conditions in order to determine if this compound indirectly affects hopanoid synthesis,
and therefore, the capacity for growth in non ideal temperatures as compared to samples without
squalane. To determine if growth enhancement effects observed with squalane are due to the
compound being used as a substrate, bacteria were grown with and without it while suspended in
either nutrient broth or minimal media. The mechanism of degradation of squalane

Buy Nothing Day Environmental Analysis
Since 1992, an annual Buy Nothing Day has been held in many countries to show people the
detrimental effects of overconsumption. This event often coincides with Black Friday―the prime time
for eager shoppers after Thanksgiving festivities. The term Black Friday originated from a financial
crisis in the late 1800s, but that memory changed to display one of busy roads, packed department
stores, and post Thanksgiving chaos (Pruitt). In order to raise awareness, supporters of Buy Nothing
Day argued that events like Black Friday cause damage to the economy and environment. Considering
counterfeit advertising and the environmental hazards of a day like Black Friday, a yearly Buy

In recent years, fewer people have been shopping outside (about 74 million in 2015 compared to 85
million in 2011), but the number is still large enough to pose a threat to the environment and retail

Buy Nothing Day may not be a permanent solution to overconsumption, but it could be the first step.
The Mall of America, one of the largest shopping malls in the country, closed its doors on
Thanksgiving to allow time for employees to spend time with their families (CNBC). If other retail
leaders follow this example, Buy Nothing Day can become a reality. The more people that participate

The Divine Command Theory (DCT)
One important aspect to morality is the distinctive rational authority of moral commands, how
morality seems to command and favour us doing certain things that we are strongly compelled to
oblige, regardless of our own beliefs. Many metaethical theories try to explain how and why morality
works like this. One of these theories is the Divine Command Theory (DCT); that morality comes
from the commands of some type of god. DCT provides some compelling arguments to explain the
distinctive rational authority though but the drawbacks keep it from being a definitive answer. This
will be explained by examining what the rational authority of moral commands is in more detail, how
DCT attempts to answer this question, the objections that DCT faces and ... Show more content on

While there are some strong arguments to be made for DCT answering the question of distinctive
rational authority of moral commands, if DCT has a theory itself is not strong enough, its answer to
rational moral authority becomes questionable. The concept of a single external mind, or a god, is one
that has been criticised by many to show how the theory is implausible. One of these
counterarguments is the horrendous deeds argument. This brings up the possibility of morally wrong
actions to be right, with the same circumstances and intentions, as the god could change their mind,
just as people change their mind on what they like and do not like. However, the issue with this is that
we get the intuition that it is impossible for a morally wrong act to be morally right unless something
about it is changed. While it is possible that the god would not change their mind, the possibility that
they could is the important part. One counterargument to this is to say that the god would not make a
morally wrong action good because it is not in the nature of the god to command or favour us doing
morally wrong actions. However, this objection falls into the problem of the Euthyphro Dilemma, is

Difference Between O Brother Where Art Thou
There was a multitude of major differences between the video, O Brother Where Art Thou, and the
Homer s epic, The Odyssey. First, the two differ in the fact that the sirens used substances to
intoxicate the men. In the video, the adventurers are drawn in and the men are shown partaking in
illicit substances, presumably alcohol. However in the text, the emphasis is placed on more of the
song, than the alcohol. Homer s text states, So they with their sweet voices their music poured,
melodious on my ears. Next, the sirens are also not cannibalistic in the video, while they are in the
text. The text states, the meadow with a vast heap of bouldering corpses, bones that hang on shriveled

Discrimination In The Bluest Eye
Toni Morrison, the author of The Bluest Eye writes about the wealth and beauty of the young girls and
how racism and brutal rape happens to Pecola. The racism that is shown in the book, isn t whites

classified as beauty and the girls were ugly because they didn t have blue eyes. Pecola Breedlove
moved in with the MacTeers due to her father trying to burn the house that they lived in down. The
house wasn t really even a house it was more like a store that they were living in, big enough for the
Breedlove family. In the process of everything that s taking place during her transitions she realizes
just how broken she is and because of the corruption Claudia has to show her just how important she
really is. Pecola believes she doesn t have a story to tell because people will see what she sees,
someone who is a failure and not worth it. The Breedloves saw no value in themselves and believed
that they wore their ugliness even though it didn t belong to them. There are more characters in the
book that struggle with their physical appearances, pecola however still believes that she is ugly. ...

Explainations of the Fog of Fear in Alan Axelrod’s,...
What is fear? Fear can be, and can come from, many things. It can come from everyday life
experiences, such as taking tests in school, or giving a speech in a meeting at work. Or from things
that frighten more people than just yourself. Such as going to war, being in an accident, or in the midst
of a public shooting. In Alan Axelrod s, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Alan talks
about fear, and his points are valid, for fear is like a fog, it can be overcome, and that mankind has had
worse things to fear than what is feared in his writing.
Alan Axelrod makes a very valid point in his text, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR ,
when he compares fear to fog. ..fear is not so much the sensation accompanying the realization of
danger, but a fog.. which means that fear is not just something you fear, but instead, something that
clouds your vision. With too much fear, it s all a person can see, they have nightmares, flashbacks, and
other things that make even the small things in life, frightening. Yet, there are ways to overcome this
fog, just like there are ways to overcome the fear itself. Evenso, Alan Axelrod clearly places a good
argument in relating fear to fog.
In, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Axelrod constructs an agreeable altercation in
saying that fear can be overcome. In his writing, Alan Axelrod talks about how Franklin D. Roosevelt
overcame his fear of plio. Having been diagnosed with polio and

The Global Financial Crisis
In the following essay, I will briefly summarize some of the main events leading up to the global
financial crisis. Following this, I will discuss the effect this had on the banks and ergo the credit
supply, then examine how this contributed to the corporate failure. I will also pay some attention to
how the market imperfection can affect firms real decisions. Finally, I will sum up the main points of
the essay. The banking panic of the fall of 2008 set economies around the world into a severe
recession. The spark of the panic was seen in mid 2007 the credit boom, followed by the demise of
subprime mortgages and securitized products. This, in turn, raises worries about the solvency and
liquidity of financial institutions, evolving into a full blown banking panic. Resulting in the failure of
the Lehman Brothers and Washington Mutual, and multiple governments run financial institutions.
(Ivashina Scharfstein, 2009). As a result during 2008 the prices of most asset classes and commodities
declined, although the cost of corporate and bank borrowing rose significantly. In both the USA and
the UK interest rates peaked at over 5% (See Appendix A). Consequently, Syndicated lending started
to fall mid 2007, then accelerated during the banking panic September 2008. The lending in the fourth
quarter of 2008 2008: Q4 was 47% lower than the previous and 79% lower than in 2007: Q2 (ibib).
A decline in the demand could explain the overall drop in lending, it might also explain

to his father intently during his whole lecture, thus proving his amazing ability to listen. Another
example exists when his friend Danny and him started a long walk to Danny s house. During their
walk, Danny talked to him the whole time, and all Reuven did, was look at him and listened to what
he had to say. Hence, when Danny kept on babbling about whatever he had to exclaim, Reuven stood

With digital profiles that are created and used daily on social networking mediums such as Facebook,
individuals are creating a platform for data mining, phishing and also malicious activities of online

strengthens trust with users to distribute personal information within their databases. This can be
elucidated with the use of cloud based services, and it is concerning the activities are executed with
this access of information. Some of these questionable factors about confidentiality are mentioned in

her two sons, Ben and Curtis. Her strength and ability to just keep swimming inspired her two sons

Particularly in pages 30 34, you can see how much her pushing the boys to strive for more left its

Byzantine Empire Derivation
The derivation of the expansive civilization also known as the Byzantine Empire can be traced as far
back to 330 CE. It started when the Roman Emperor Constantine I dedicated a site located in the

Rome . Although, in the later centuries, the western side of the Roman Empire dissolved in 476, the
eastern side remained intact and survived for at least another ten centuries, which resulted in the

Analysis Of Nighthawks By Edward Hopper
Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is one of my all time favorite paintings, and has been a painting I have
enjoyed researching throughout my life because of how much I resonate with this painting. This is an
astonishing painting, not only in the sense of it being beautiful art, but because this is a piece that is so
significant and loved by so many people around the world. I would say that even if you have not ever
seen the original painting, you have probably seen it reproduced in different ways in many different
places.
The world is bursting with all kinds of versions of this painting. All of these tributes are made because
of how much this painting has resonated with the people who have seen it. The beautiful composition
and the many well used elements in this painting have always intrigued and interested me. I think that
Hopper created a piece that can truly resonate with so many different people.
Edward Hopper expressed his love for art early in his life and was determined to make something out
of himself in the field of art:
Edward Hopper was born in Nyack, New York, a town located on the west side of the Hudson River,

  • 2. Competitive Advantage Competitive advantages are strengths and strategies that keep a company ahead of its competitors. It is hard to measure competitive advantage and harder to maintain it. Some competitive advantages are fleeting. The successful companies are those that leverage their competitive advantage successfully and repeatedly. As understood by us in the above example the competitive advantage that the cyrptoses enjoy is a direct outcome of its natural habitat and hence the circumstantial gain over its rivals. Cryptoses has strategically positioned and tactically planned its competitive advantage that even though its fleeting, its competitive advantage is repetitive and successful. The other name for this sort of competitive advantage could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But nothing lasts for ever, as the market matures there are new entrants and it posses a threat to the competitive advantage. (fig. 2) Gradually with the time competition starts meeting the customer expectations and the competitive advantage tends to reduce. Example As the company that created the spreadsheet for PCs, Lotus led the way through much of the 1980s with its 1 2 3. But Lotus did not foresee the success that Windows would have and failed to develop a version of 1 2 3 for it until 1991. By then Microsoft s Excel had moved in to dominate the market. The duration of the competitive advantage is subjective, it depends on impact by the competitors affecting the source of competitive advantage. Microsoft Corporation is in a class by itself when it comes to exploiting the source for competitive advantage. IBM chose Microsoft in 1980 to write the operating system for its new personal computers. Microsoft produced DOS for IBM and then licensed it to more than 100 companies turning out IBM clones. Since it knew more than anyone else about the operating system for PCs, Microsoft had a head start on applications software like word processing and spreadsheet programs. Over the years its applications programs became leaders. In the mid 1980s, Microsoft developed the Windows operating system, giving PCs some of the power and ease of use that had been associated with Apple computers. Microsoft ... • 3. Antigone And Kohlberg s Levels Of Moral Morality is dealing with established principles of right and wrong behavior. Lawrence Kohlberg s levels of moral development explain one s stage of morality in life. Morals leads to the law of conscience by the actions one chooses to act upon whether for the better or worse. Both Antigone and Ghandi are stage six based on their universal human rights and their individual conscience. Antigone shows many examples of her universal human rights and her individual conscience. From Antigone, Antigone is a stage six because she buries her brother Polynices. She breaks Creon s forbidden law to follow her own conscience. This is displayed when it states, But I will bury him: and if I must die,/ I say that this crime is holy... (Sophocles 774). Antigone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Where The Wild Things Are By Maurice Sendak 1. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is an exuberant picture book which will make it a fun and exciting read. The compressed language will guide children easily throughout the book. Sendak promotes a touching message of unconditional love, a message that even if one misbehaves, there will be supper waiting on the table (Max does get sent to his room, but no matter how much he has misbehaved, his mother will always love him and cherish him). Sendak also dives into deeper psychological emotions . Max might be seen and chastised as a wild thing by his mother, his emotional actions are described as an integral part of his being, maybe not quite appropriate, but also not completely inappropriate, rather as a living, breathing part of Max s being. It is these emotions, these feelings that are the impetus to Max s adventures in the realm of the Wild Things. 2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle captures young readers with its vivid and colorful collage illustrations and its deceptively hopeful story. With its die cut pages and finger sized holes to explore, this is a satisfying book for children. The main character has to overcome his ravenous appetite on his journey to become a butterfly will simply entice children and hopefully inspire them. 3. The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg is a book filled with pure magic and wonder. The moral of the story is to dive in and believe, leaving reality behind. This book will not only let children indulge in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Report On Woolworths Company My chosen business that my report will be based on is the Woolworths company, known primarily in Australia for their supermarket s and retail chains. Woolworths run several high profile Australian stores such as BWS, Dan Murphys, Big W and the highly publicized Masters. The reason for my choice of Woolworths was that as they are one of the biggest companies and employers in Australia, and have recently been in the media spotlight for the closing of one of the recent projects Masters. Another major reason as to my choice of Woolworths is that there supply chain would be as interesting and extensive as any other Australian based company. With almost a thousand supermarkets Australia wide and over 100 thousand staff, Woolworths is one of the countries prominent employers (Woolworths limited 2012). An added incentive as to why I chose to do my report on Woolworths was that they are my current employer. I believe that by learning more about the current supply chain structure and management of the company that I do indeed work for, will give me a more detailed overview of the job that I am currently doing. By understanding more about the company you re involved will hopefully keep me motivated and improve my work leading to a happier time whilst I am working (Gelles 2013 p.37). As a billion dollar company, Woolworths would have to be very careful and deliberate with who and what there supply chain consists of. • 6. A Closer Look At I.a. Richards A Closer Look at I.A. Richards and Semantic Triangle Theory I.A. Richards said, Language, if it is to be used, must be a ready instrument (Russo, 2015). He thrived off of his need to understand the use of language and it is a common and recurring theme throughout his work. Richards was a teacher, philosopher, poet, prolific speaker, lover of books and words themselves (Russo, 2015). A complex man who led a complicated life, Richards ultimately facilitated a way to better understand the intricate process of how words gain meaning (Golden, Berquist, Coleman, Sproule, 2010). He died in 1979, but he will never be forgotten, for he has made an everlasting impact on the studies of linguistics and rhetoric ( I.A. Richards). What is the Semantic Triangle? According to The Theory of Western Thought, The best known rhetorical device developed in The Meaning of Meaning is perhaps the semantic triangle (Golden, Berquist, Coleman, Sproule, 2010, pg. 265). Ogden and Richards determined that people generally see words as things in reality therefore we confuse the symbol or word with the thing or object in reality (Golden, Berquist, Coleman, Sproule, 2010). For example, the word FAN would literally be perpetually twirling propellers to produce wind. Of course, one intellectually understands that the object and the word are not the same thing, however, while humans communicate, as Ogden and Richards argue, we tend to make a necessary connection between the word and the reality of the object, which they refer to as the referent (Golden, Berquist, Coleman, Sproule, 2010). Simply put, our experience with a word or object, is parallel to our basic understanding of the object we use the word to refer to. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The basic relationship between teacher and students is changing because technology gives learners control over their own learning, which are the primary tenets of constructivism. The use of technology can have a great effect of schools. It enables every student to gain control of there own learning (International). It whisked you to a place of mysterious magic that you can t quite get over even after you finish the book. It enraptured me and made me an instant fan. It seems rare that I love a sequel just as much as the original, and it has only happened a few times before but Antebellum Awakening has just joined that short list.I found the first, Miss Mabel s School for Girls, on NetGalley and I am so glad I did. After posting my praise on this blog and all my other social media platforms, the author offered me a copy of the second novel as well as a novella which I can t wait to dive into, by the way. Arguably, the biggest contester to homosexuality is the potential for sin. However, by introducing the audience to two characters whom they grow attached to and want to see happy, then demonstrating the consequences of their love in our current society, sparks a reaction from the audience that causes them to question why these traditional masculine values exist in our society. When it comes to animated films, two major film companies may come to mind: DreamWorks and Disney. For the past couple of years, people have been asking which company is better, and the answer is quite simply Disney. They have better stories, they maintain a certain theme, they are consistent, and extremely successful which is what makes them stand out from other studios and film companies. Of course, DreamWorks has some of these qualities as well, but they are far and few in between. Disney, when it comes to their stories, almost always deliver. They have made some of the most iconic films with brilliant stories such as Aladdin, Lion King, Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, etc. Granted, they haven t always made the best films, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. They take time to make their films great and usually release a film once a year. DreamWorks has focused more on the quantity instead of the quality of their films, releasing at least 2 3 movies a year. Because of this, only some good movies like Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, etc. have come about and the rest only earning 7/10 or lower. For example the manufacturers of BMW cars are concentrating on customers who prefer high end cars and will focus their energies in the luxury segment of the car market. They will give complete attention to customers who prefer to buy the car for the status symbol and brand image that BMW carries and so the manufacturer will choose to focus all of their efforts on a single segment. Supporting Interactive System Testing with Interaction Sequences Jessica Turner Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Waikato August 13, 2015 1 Research Topic An interactive system is a piece of software or a device which requires human input. It consists of a user interface which the user interacts with to access the underlying functions, described formally in code. This allows the user to easily manipulate the system in order to complete some task. An important subset of interactive systems is safety critical interactive systems (a system in which errors can lead to injury or even death to the user). Unfortunately, the testing of these systems is currently inadequate, resulting in serious harm or even fatalities (see [1] [2]). A test is de ned in the Oxford Dictionary as: A procedure intended to establish the quality, performance, or reliability of something, especially before it is taken into widespread use ; [3]. The purpose of interactive system testing is not only to ensure that the system does what it is expected to, but also to identify problems within the current version of the system. The resolution of these problems will help to establish the quality, performance and/or reliability [3] of the system and help to avoid future incidents. In this research we propose using interaction sequences as an abstraction of the system under test to support the testing process. An interaction sequence is the series of steps a user can take to perform a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The actual time span of the week varies between the time periods. If God was trying to reveal anything to Daniel about when these things would take place than a good assumption would be that the weeks would be similar in scope of time. Another issue that would have to be addressed by proponents of this view is how the first advent of Christ solves everything that is to take place in verse 24 of Daniel 9. The last thing that needs to be answered is why does the destruction of Jerusalem take place before the sixty nine weeks if it is clearly lined out in the prophecy to be after the sixty nine weeks? (verse 26) The Covenantal View The covenantal view is a view that also holds that the time periods are symbolic. This view also begins at the decree given by Cyrus in Ezra 1 after the 70 year captivity around 538 B.C. It has sixty nine weeks from that date leading up to the death of Christ around 33 A.D. at which point the seventieth week kicks off and continues until the apocalypse. This view has serious issues with the periods of time not being equal. The last week for instance has lasted for the previous 2000 years and is continuing through the present time. The sixty nine weeks from the decree of Cyrus to the death of Christ equal about eight years per week. The strength of this view is that it is trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept of a single external mind, or a god, is one that has been criticised by many to show how the theory is implausible. One of these counterarguments is the horrendous deeds argument. This brings up the possibility of morally wrong actions to be right, with the same circumstances and intentions, as the god could change their mind, just as people change their mind on what they like and do not like. However, the issue with this is that we get the intuition that it is impossible for a morally wrong act to be morally right unless something about it is changed. While it is possible that the god would not change their mind, the possibility that they could is the important part. • 28. Explainations of the Fog of Fear in Alan Axelrod’s,... What is fear? Fear can be, and can come from, many things. It can come from everyday life experiences, such as taking tests in school, or giving a speech in a meeting at work. Or from things that frighten more people than just yourself. Such as going to war, being in an accident, or in the midst of a public shooting. In Alan Axelrod s, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Alan talks about fear, and his points are valid, for fear is like a fog, it can be overcome, and that mankind has had worse things to fear than what is feared in his writing. Alan Axelrod makes a very valid point in his text, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , when he compares fear to fog. ..fear is not so much the sensation accompanying the realization of danger, but a fog.. which means that fear is not just something you fear, but instead, something that clouds your vision. With too much fear, it s all a person can see, they have nightmares, flashbacks, and other things that make even the small things in life, frightening. Yet, there are ways to overcome this fog, just like there are ways to overcome the fear itself. Evenso, Alan Axelrod clearly places a good argument in relating fear to fog. In, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Axelrod constructs an agreeable altercation in saying that fear can be overcome. In his writing, Alan Axelrod talks about how Franklin D. Roosevelt overcame his fear of plio. Having been diagnosed with polio and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Following this, I will discuss the effect this had on the banks and ergo the credit supply, then examine how this contributed to the corporate failure. I will also pay some attention to how the market imperfection can affect firms real decisions. Finally, I will sum up the main points of the essay. The banking panic of the fall of 2008 set economies around the world into a severe recession. The spark of the panic was seen in mid 2007 the credit boom, followed by the demise of subprime mortgages and securitized products. This, in turn, raises worries about the solvency and liquidity of financial institutions, evolving into a full blown banking panic. Resulting in the failure of the Lehman Brothers and Washington Mutual, and multiple governments run financial institutions. (Ivashina Scharfstein, 2009). As a result during 2008 the prices of most asset classes and commodities declined, although the cost of corporate and bank borrowing rose significantly. In both the USA and the UK interest rates peaked at over 5% (See Appendix A). Consequently, Syndicated lending started to fall mid 2007, then accelerated during the banking panic September 2008. The lending in the fourth quarter of 2008 2008: Q4 was 47% lower than the previous and 79% lower than in 2007: Q2 (ibib).
