Attachment Problems
Attachment problems can be caused by several different factors and it may actually be difficult to
assess causality in some cases where the client history is incomplete or contradictory in places
depending on the source. Ainsworth (1992) aptly summarized the attachment equation. First babies of
sensitive mothers were more likely to be securely attached, while those who had less sensitive mothers
were more likely to be insecurely attached. These insecurely attached children had more difficulty
forming new skills and interests because of their lack of a secure base from which to work.
Psychosocial factors that could contribute to attachment problems in childhood include problems with
the infant, including a difficult temperament or physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A full physical, mental, and social history of the family, and the child, should be taken with careful
attention paid to any trauma that may have occurred to the parent(s), the child, or the family as a
whole and any history of substance abuse within the family or those with whom the child had frequent
contact. Questions should be asked about the beginnings of the symptoms, however, in some
situations the family may be a foster or adoptive family that is trying to figure out the behavior of a
child and has never seen any different behavior from the child and may not have a full history of them.
When possible, physicians, former caretakers, former caseworkers, and others who might know the
child s history in the case of a foster or adopted child should be contacted and as much information
should be gathered as possible. A Marschak Interaction Method Behavior Rating System may be
useful here, for the current caretaker and child, if there is a trained clinician available to observe the
mother child dyad and complete the assessment. It has been observed that high parental stress may
inhibit ideal parent child interactions as well (McKay, Pickens, Stewart, 1996) and because of this the
clinician may want to provide an assessment to the parent(s) that evaluates this such as the Parenting

Comparing Louka And Sergius
The last type of love is manipulative love. Such a type of love is not determined by fate, but instead
man made through cunning actions and quick wit. It thrives upon the great desire of one individual for
another. In most cases, manipulative love is presented when one is already in a relationship with
another. The relationship of Louka and Sergius was founded upon the manipulation if Louka and gives
great insight into this type of love. The first example of manipulative love is presented when Louka
and Sergius are alone together. She begins to tear at the foundation of the relationship of Raina and
Sergius. Louka mocks Sergius telling him that he only married for wealth and not love. She proclaims
that she is better than him because she would marry for true love regardless of her status. She gives an
example, presenting a situation and explaining,
LOUKA. Look at me! how much am I allowed to have my own will? I have to get your room ready
for you to sweep and dust, to fetch and carry. How could that degrade me if it did not degrade you to
have it done for you? But (with subdued passion) if I were Empress of Russia, above everyone in the

of my inferior. Would you dare as much if you loved me? No: if you felt the beginnings of love for me
you would not let it grow. You dare not: you would marry a rich man s daughter because you would be

Ethical Responsibilities At The Termination Of Their Group
.54#2. What are your ethical responsibilities to group members at the termination of their group?
Explain As a group leader, I have a myriad of ethical responsibilities to the group members, especially
at the closing of the group. I need to exercise due diligence by using sound professional judgement to
make sure each of my clients have some form of closure before they leave the group. In order to
facilitate and prepare the group members for closure, I want to address three main points; I want to
consolidate what they learned in the group, understand what they will do with what they learned, and
how will they continue receiving support. Each member should share during this time. By
consolidating what these men learned in this group, we will be able to understand where each member
stands. In this group, members should have learned how to deal with their stress levels and find
meaning in their diagnosis. Ethically, I need to recap during the last sessions with the clients to remind
them what they have learned so the group experience was not for naught. Accordingly, I want to
summarize with the group what they learned about the challenges of being HIV positive while
encouraging them to use the skills they learned in the group outside of the group, while keeping the
confidentiality of the group members. Accordingly with my facilitation, the clients should explore and
summarize for themselves what they learned and how they have changed in the group over the past
twelve weeks.

Victor Frankenstein s The Monster
Nicholas Monds
Miss Sibbach
English IV
11 December, 2015
Victor... Creator or Destroyer Victor Frankenstein worried about everyone else and playing God,
rather than trying to do right, morally. Victor had to go through a lot of steps and difficulties to create
the monster. After the creation of the monster, everyone including Victor abandoned him. Victor
refused to create a girl creature to avoid a lot of problems, but he did not realize the hell the monster
would end up causing him. Victor regrets trying to play God because his action would cause him great
troubles and consequences. Victor Frankenstein had the great idea of creating a human like creature
that ultimately became bigger, stronger, and meaner than everyone around. The process and steps took
a lot longer than what Victor predicted. When the creature finally took his first breath, the two long
years of anticipation finally relieved Victor of his stress. Victor stayed up numerous nights and missed
so many meals stressing over this creature. He never gave up despite all the difficulties wanting to
become the first ever bringing life to a creature. So much has been done, exclaimed the soul of
Frankenstein more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked, I will pioneer a new
way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation (sparknotes).
The creature was very hideous, gigantic, and didn t look to friendly to humans. All the time and work

The Charge Of The Light Brigade
The poem Charge of the Light Brigade tells a story about 600 soldiers, who rode horseback, into the
valley of death . They were obeying the command of the man in charge, and charged at the enemy
forces that had been seizing their guns. All the soldiers knew that their commander had made a terrible
mistake in judgment, but they did not get discouraged or down about it. They knew that the role of a
soldier was to obey and not to make a reply...not to reason why, so they followed the orders and rode
into the valley of death . They were shot at by canons from the right, left, and front of them, but they
still boldly rode forward into the jaws of Death . The soldiers struck the enemy gunners with their
sabres bare and charged the enemy

Game Design Essay
In the beginning of our game design, we weren t really sure what type of game we would like to make.
Each group member pitched in an idea for us to consider; one was a board game with extensive RPG
elements, and another was a card game that was a combination of two other famous card games. The
group had a vote and the card game idea won out. At this stage, the aim of the game was to be a
combination of two other card games. It would have the structure and playstyle of Egyptian Rat Screw
while incorporating the idea of special cards from UNO . We didn t have knowledge on how certain
mobile games were successful at this point, so that idea was the best that we had.
As the game called for special cards akin to UNO , there were numerous ... Show more content on

The main reason for this was that it would create too much confusion about the rules, as constantly
adding new rules would require the player to slow down and think. Another problem would be
keeping track of who owned each card. This would become a problem if players had the same special
cards.
Initially, our game was planned to be a trading card game, in which players had to acquire their own
special cards in order to play the game. We voted on this idea as a way to create more distinction
between our game and Egyptian Rat Screw . This idea was expanded upon during the third week
where the games Magic: the Gathering and Hearthstone could provide a good model for how we
might shape our card game. Special cards were to be used on along the standard playing card deck. A
consequence of this rule was that we would have to make up a lot of different card effects while also
making sure that they were balanced. Our first method of balancing came from labeling the power of
the cards as low, medium, or high. Our rules indicated that each player would only be able to add a
certain amount of cards from each power level so that each player wouldn t seriously outrank another
player. An alternative to the balancing we had was that each player could bring in any amount of high
powered cards that they want so that players would feel like their own cards helped them win the
game more easily and feel a sense of ownership of their chosen cards. Another consequence of making

Josiah Bartlett s Accomplishments
Josiah Bartlett, delegate of New Hampshire in the Continental Congress, was born on November 21,
1729 in Amesbury Massachusetts. His parents were Stephen and Hannah Bartlett. In the beginning
Bartlett studied and practiced the science of medicine at Kingston, New Hampshire, He began his
studies when he was only 16 years of age and continued them throughout his life. At the age of 21 he
became well known as an experienced doctor in Kingston and was depended upon by many because
of his experience and talent as a doctor. On January 15, 1754 he married his cousin Mary Bartlett and

He is not exactly one of the most famous names for signing the Declaration of Independence and
unlike John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, or John Hancock he was not known as a
main character in the movie 1776. Though he was a member of the Continental Congress and his vote
and signature counted just as much as anyone else s, he was not as well know and talked about as
some of the others portrayed in the movie. I wanted to write this paper about him because I wanted to
show accomplishments and the importance of other people in the congress that are not as famous or
well know. In other words I wanted to show others the behind the scenes of lesser characters in the
movie. Just because someone in a movie is not shown as much as others, or is not portrayed as an
important or famous member of something does not mean that they do not have any say nor have they
not done anything important in their lives. For example by watching the movie I don t think I ever
would have known or even thought that Bartlett had accomplished so many things or that he had done
so amazingly well in politics or in medicine. According to my research Bartlett was a very important
man in Kingston and New Hampshire in general and without looking into this more I would have
never guessed any of this. This is just one of those things that show you can t always believe what you

audi s style could be described as a mix of Art Nouveau...
audi s style could be described as a mix of Art Nouveau and his own unique organic style, which was
influenced by shapes and structures from the natural world. One of Gaudi s most impressive and
beautiful buildings is Casa Batlló. Gaudí designed the building for Josep Batlló, a wealthy aristocrat,
as an upmarket home. He had asked Gaudi to tear down the old one to reconstruct a new one. Gaudí
managed to convince Battló to remodel the existing building instead of tearing it down, and between
1904 and 1906 he redesigned the facade and roof, added an extra floor and completely remodeled the
interior. This building clearly illustrated Gaudi s work. His use of flowing organic lines are evident
and can be seen in my details in the structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This work of Gaudi I believe is a clear example of an Artist s vision. Gaudi incorporated his
creativeness into a building produced a concrete example of his vision. To me it feels like this building
you might see in Disneyland, but here it is on a normal street of Barcelona erected amongst other
buildings. Yet it questions our imagination. The curves, the colour scheme that is used, the use of
bones, it is simply captivating! This is what Gaudi s work is about to create an impact on its viewers. I
really appreciate this work of his because he created something completely different, something out of
the ordinary.
Another one of Gaudi s famous work is the Sagrada Familia. Though it is unfinished it is still on of the
famous attractions in Barcelona. Whilst the building was actually started by Francisco de Paula Villar,
It was Antonio Gaudi who took over in 1884 by finishing the underground crypt that Villar had begun
to give Sagrada Familia a unique twist and a revolutionary design. Gaudi incorporates his religious
side into this building.
The church was designed to have a total length of 110 m, and a height of 45 m, with twelve towers
between 100 and 115 m high. The ground plan is a Gothic basilical plan in the shape of a Latin cross,
with five naves connecting with a transept that connects to three naves, apse, and ambulatory. The rest
of the church is conceived in an organic style,

Opium War China Imperialism
The connotation of the word may give the meaning of power or someone who is powerful. But the
definition based off an example gives a literal definition; the act of a country to take over other nearby
countries, to gain power and economic influence. An example of imperialism is the Opium Wars
(Britain and China). The Chinese and the British were in war because British wanted to dominate and
have all the goods that came from China like opium. This is why the example of the the Opium War
will help understand the definition of what imperialism means in a real life situation. It all started with
looking for which surrounding territory was more beneficial for the British. Having leaders to lead
them into the war. Lastly, by having major events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Chinese sold many things that European markets were interested in. The British, observing the
demand for opium in China, both for legitimate reasons, and by addicts, grew and sold large amounts
of opium, and sold it to intermediaries for silver that would eventually sell it on to the Chinese. The
balance of trade being upset, and the concern over the growing number of Chinese opium addicts, led
the Chinese government to impound foreign ships, destroy cargos, and arrest merchants. Basically
suppressing the trade. The British did not like China s decisions. Therefore the British responded
violently, they had a couple of bloody battles, the British won numerous times , dominating Chinese
armies. China tried fighting back but it made things worse. Another major event that occurred in the
Opium wars is the Treaty of Nanjing. This treaty is a big event because it gave Britain a lot of
advantages, like the Chinese giving full control of Hong Kong to Britain. Also giving Britain more
ports where they could trade Opium, the last thing that the British was given by the Chinese in
accordance to the treaty was money. This basically showed that the British won the first Opium war,
due to all the privileges the British gained from the Chinese s peace

Malaria Is A Parasite That Has Been Impacting The World...
Malaria is a parasite that has been impacting the world for the past couple of centuries. The illness
associated with malaria gives intense fevers, chills, terrible headaches, muscle pains and can be deadly
if not treated properly. Although overall malaria cases have decreased from 262 million in 2000 to 214
million in 2015, it is still an issue to be concerned about today.1 There have been developments of a
vaccine against this parasite, but the parasite has adapted to the vaccine and developed a resistance to
it, thus rendering it ineffective. The p. falciparum and p. vivax strains of malaria is what is causing
problems as these resistant strains have popped up in much of Asia and Africa and a couple of
countries in South America.1 This can potentially be a problem for the military and more specifically
the Air Force as multiple countries where the Air Force deploys are infected with these resistant
strains of malaria. It can be seen through the background and history of the fight against this parasite
that the chemistry behind an antimalarial vaccine is important to the Air Force.
The illness associated with the malaria parasite was first thought to be a result of poisonous mists
drifting from marshes hence its name meaning bad air in Italian. Of course it was unbeknownst back
then that it was actually caused by the female anopheles mosquito which tends to live near still water
such as marshes.2 Although it was unknown what actually caused the symptoms of malaria,

describes Mahler s outlook and perspective on not just his music, but the way he views life. Mahler s

How Did The Russian Revolution Affect The Economy Between...
The economic situation of Russia from 1855 1917 undoubtedly had some influence on both the
revolutions of 1905 and 1917. Furthermore, in 1891 Russia faced a famine leaving 40,0000 dead,
followed by an economic slump in 1905. The First World War (1914 1918) had a drastic effect on
Russian economy and society, with vast amounts of money spent on munitions. Some would argue
that the economy was the main cause for both revolutions in 1905 and 1917. Nevertheless, according
to the definition of a revolution; to overthrow a government or social order, in favour of a new system
, it could not have been the economy alone, but other events such as war and society that contributed
to the Russian revolutions of 1905 and 1917.

During World War 1, Russian causalities were high and soldiers deserted in large numbers. Whilst
previous wars had got a somewhat positive backing from the public, people were desperate for this to
end whilst it also drained Russian of its resources and held over 14 million men in active service. The
Great War drove already unhappy people to revolt against the regime before the war had even
officially ended showing its severity. Some would argue here however it still shows how important the
economy was, as it was a crippling one surrounding a mass scale war that caused the people to revolt.
This also echoes another important factor in both revolutions of 1905 and 1917 in that life in Russia
including during war was a strain whilst food, fuel and raw materials remained short. Another view
considering the cause of the 1905 and 1917 revolution in Russia is rather than being due to one solid
event it is rather the general life of Russians, who revolted due to being dissatisfied. An extract from

European Union s Emission Trading Scheme
Despite the efficiency of the European Union s emission trading scheme (or EU ETS) with its
economic and environmental policy designed to reduce the greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide
emissions within the earth s atmosphere, further research have revealed the strengths and weakness
that EU ETS experience while determining how much greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide a country
can emit. One of the main strengths of EU ETS is its cost effectiveness. Limiting the amount of
greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emitted requires a market based policy instrument such as a

most economical way. Canadian economist John Dales (1968) suggests that a market of ... Show more

The success of its cost effectiveness resulted in a few mistakes that occurred during phase 1 that
caused a weak point in the scheme.
The EU ETS has been known exist with a typical weakness. On April 16th the European Parliament
voted to reject an attempt to bolster Europe s flagship environmental programme, the Emissions
Trading System (The economist, 2013), mainly because of the exceeded limit of emission. Carbon has
been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. During Phase 1 (2005 2007) of the
EU ETS, there had been a massive overcapacity in the carbon market (The economist, 2013).
Companies were being allocated allowances based on previous emissions and not being auctioned;
while auction remains a more efficient way to allocate emission allowances creating a carbon market.
(Mak, 2011). The surplus was 1.5 billion 2 billion tones or about a year s emissions (The economist,
2013). This shows how the newborn phase 1 were victims of the first mistakes made by the EU ETS.
Countries such as Germany, France and Poland were furthermore assigned additional allowances thus
not respecting the restrictions of the ETS (Mak, 2011), also, not complying with the Harmonisation

The Hrm Function Of Job Analysis
Executive Summary
This essay is basically focused on the telecommunication company Telstra s business objective, which
was set up by the CEO Solomon Trujillo of downsizing 10,000 non core and redundant jobs roles.
Furthermore, by the integrated HRM functions which are job analysis, job design, compensation
management industrial relations, the objective was achieved by the CEO of the company by the end of
the year 2008. During his tenure he achieved the target, although the market value the share price of
the company was 25% lower than the previous years.
Introduction
It is the objective of this essay to critically analyze how four HRM strategies are integrated to enable
Telstra to downsize 10,000 jobs.
Firstly, this essay will critically analyze how the HRM function of job analysis is integrated to assist to
identify duplicated job roles to be targeted for downsizing. The purpose of this paragraph is to
critically discuss how the HRM function of job analysis is used by the HR department of Telstra to
identify the duplicated job roles responsibilities after the appointment of its CEO Solomon Trujillo
during the year 2004 2008. De Cieri (2007) highlights that work dissection has concentrated on
breaking down the current employments to accumulate data for other human asset administration
practices, for example, choice, worker improvement, performance management and compensation.

No Name Woman, By Maxine Hong Kingston
In No Name Woman , Maxine Hong Kingston discusses a story her mother shared with her. It is about
Kingston s aunt who, while her husband was in America, became pregnant and committed suicide the
day of her illegitimate child s birth. Also included in the story is a raid, undertaken by neighbors and
other villagers, on the aunt s family and home. In order to fully understand the story, it is necessary to
know the historical context. Taking place in 1920s China, the instability, importance of the family, and
attitude towards women impact the final essay. Without taking those three things into account, one
cannot properly analyze Kingston s work.
Before 1924, when the incident takes place, China suffered numerous hardships. There was, for
example, the first Sino Japanese War, which was followed by the Boxer Rebellion only a few years
later. Then, in the span of only a couple of years, the Manchu Restoration and the May Fourth
Movement begin and end. Both of these are attempts at creating a new form of government and are
two of several examples depicting the instability of that time. In addition to that was the rise of the
Communist Party and the constant political infighting within the Republic of China. Overall, ... Show

to her infidelity was harsh. It also explains why everyone in the family treated the story of Kingston s
aunt as inherently shameful. Kingston s mother, for instance, insisted that nobody else should know
what happened for fear of judgment. The attitude towards women is also why Kingston assumes that

standard lighting options, such as CFL and incandescent bulbs. However, some packages will claim
their bulbs are qualified LED when they are not. There are some ways to figure out if the LED is truly

Incandescent bulbs design causes them to output heat, which is what contributes to electricity costs.
The heat generated will cause the air conditioner to kick on more in hot weather. LEDs will reduce
cooling costs by not producing heat.
LED lights are guaranteed with a minimum three year warranty. This is the best guarantee in the
industry. LEDs have convenient features. They can come available with dimming on indoor models
and automatic daylight shut off and motion sensors on outdoor models. LED lights are durable and
will not break like bulbs.
Upgrading floor lamps and other lights to LED lights can significantly reduce operating, maintenance,
and cooling costs. LEDs are efficient and long lasting, but creating stable white light for general
lighting presents challenges. The key to having successful white light LED is a smart design. LED
lighting products must pass tests to prove products will display certain characteristics.
The brightness needs to be equal to or greater than existing light technologies, such as incandescent

to remain constant over time. It should only decrease toward the end of the rated lifetime. Lifetimes

Angelman Syndrome and Prader-Willi Syndrome Essay
Angelman Syndrome Prader Willi Syndrome
Introduction
Prader Willi and Angelman Syndrome are two genetic disorders with vastly differing phenotypes
linked by missing genetic imprints on the 15th chromosome s q arm between regions 11 and 13 .
While both orders result in mental deficits, their symptoms are otherwise segregated from the other in
their entirety. The differences in the disorders are the result of differing DNA methylation patterns
present in maternally and paternally inherited DNA. If the deletion occurs in the mother s DNA, then
Prader Willi Syndrome appears. When the deletion occurs in the father s DNA, Angelman Syndrome
is the result.

The Nature of the Disease Angelman syndrome is thought to be caused mainly by the deletion of the
maternally inherited copy of UEB3A. A small number of cases are also caused by failures in
imprinting or, very rarely, monosomy 15 in the egg and disomy 15 in the sperm. The profound mental
effects are caused by this gene due to the fact that, while UEB3A s protein is active in various bodily
tissues, only the mother s copy of the gene is active in the brain. The phenotype of Angelman
Syndrome is not overt enough to be detected unless it is being specifically looked for. EEG scans are
capable of detecting the disease at early ages, before it is otherwise possible to detect.
Prader Willi
Prader Willi is caused by either deletions, failure in imprinting, or monosomy/disomy 15 from the
father s side. The genes involved are known to include, but are not known to be limited to SNRPN and
NDN. NDN odes for the protein Necdin, which, in rodents, interacts with neurotrophin receptors in a
way that is not completely understood to promote normal cognitive development. SNRPN codes for
several products, including small nucleolar RNAs, a splicing factor involved in RNA processing, and a
polypeptide known as SNURF. The precise role of this gene is unknown.
Symptoms. Prader Willi syndrome presents symptoms beginning in utero, where the fetus is less

The Vietnamese Youth Development Center
Never have I been so wrong in judging the Vietnamese American community. In my mind, the model
minority myth has always been in place and completely stable. I never knew that a majority of
Vietnamese American youth experienced gang related violence, extreme poverty, numerous
stereotypes, and even depression. I never knew how common all of these problems were within their
community. In addition, their problems existed even within their own families through generational
conflicts and cultural differences. These problems are real, and occur within real families, real
communities. These problems are overlooked by almost everyone, and it saddened me that barely
anyone bothered to address these problems. It was then, that I realized that I was part of the problem. I
needed to be aware of what is going on around me, and what I have to do to help. I must analyze and
address the problem. The Vietnamese Youth Development Center is an organization that provides
assistance for refugees and immigrants, typically low income families. These youth are experiencing
problems with their mental health, gang violence and racism, poverty, and problems with their familial
relationships. The Vietnamese Youth Development Center helps to alleviate some of these struggles,
and provides various programs that help with increasing awareness, remediating torn relationships,
and educating. One major problem has to do with gang related violence. The solution to this is quite

Unit 6 Monopolies In Industry

American History

Unit 6 Paper: Monopolies in Industry In the late 1800s after the Civil War America had become one of
the leading nations in Industry many new industries were popping up across the nation leading to
heavy competition. As competition grew companies wanted to join together and help each other get
rid of competition, but there was no way that these companies could trust each other. Due to this the
trust was formed, in a trust, stock owners of many competing companies give control of their stock to
a committee, or group, of trustees. (2) These trust could then lead to monopolies which gave control of
an entire industry to one company, one company that was able to achieve a monopoly was the
Standard Oil Company. The government should break up the Standard Oil Company monopoly

either way there wouldn t be as many jobs available so people wouldn t be able to buy the product and

COSMETICS? Being a franchisee of Jergens in Lebanon, MADINA GROUP tried to launch Jergens
products into the Lebanese market, but this launching did not succeed as it was expected to be and that
s because it was hard that MADINA GROUP manage all these different services and activities at one
time, after all the company was growing and managing it was becoming more and more difficult and
complicated, that s why we can say that the first launching was a failure in the Lebanese markets. So
they decided to create a special department which will be concerned only about marketing, selling and
everything related to cosmetics only, and therefore MADINA COSMETICS was born in the year 2001
trying to re launch its Jergens products in Lebanon. MADINA COSMETICS imports all Jergens
products from Dubai, under American supervision and observation, where Jergens has a
manufacturing company, which is responsible to cover the demand in all the Middle East area, so they
are their suppliers. What is MADINA COSMETICS selling in the Lebanese territories? As we have

products which include a wide variety of products, distributed in three categories, and each category

Tragic Heroism of Creon Essay
Aristotle once said that a Greek Tragedy must include an important person that has a flaw. By this
flaw, the audience should feel pity and fear. Creon, a character in the Greek tragedy Antigone ,
resembles a perfect example of a tragic hero. This play was written by Sophocles, a historic
playwright during the 5th century. It begins with the illegal burial of Polyneices, Antigone s beloved
brother. Creon, the King of Thebes, is coerced to condemn his niece Antigone to death. Being loyal to
his city, Creon follows through with his punishment of Antigone. By doing so, his character is
changed forever. Creon has the qualities of a tragic hero: he is a good person with superior status, he
has a tragic flaw, and he comes to realize the role he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As simple as that (Sophocles 7). This shows that Creon has the power to condemn the people of his
city to death and with his power he decides the fate of Antigone. By having goodness and superiority
Creon changes the lives of many characters, both good and bad.
A tragic flaw is one of the most important qualities of a tragic hero. The change in most of the
characters was a result of Creon s tragic flaws. Creon may think he is infallible, but really he has many
flaws that lead to his downfall. The first is anger, which causes Creon to make poor choices. After a
heated debate with his son Haemon, Creon becomes angry and says, I ll take her to a deserted spot /
And bury her alive in a trench (Sophocles 20). Through Creon s anger he influences Antigone s death
and by doing so, she commits suicide. Aside from having anger, Creon is also a stubborn person. By
his stubbornness he does not want to be proven wrong so he says, You ll never persuade me to bury
that corpse (Sophocles 24). He shows his stubbornness by saying that he will never change his mind
about Antigone. When Teiresias, the fortuneteller, hears this he explains to Creon that if he does not
change his mind he will cause another death. After hearing this Creon must bury the body of
Polyneices and free Antigone, because fate never lies. Little does he know that he is too late and the
prophecy comes true. The last tragic flaw of Creon is that he is filled with temerity. Creon is

Anyway, one night the Prince went to a Birthday Party with his friends (a rowdy bunch of Princes and

On that special occasion he met well, he already knew her, but they had hardly ever spoken, except for

The Princess had promised herself she wouldn t fuck things up this time. But of course, she failed

Luckily, this time the Prince and the Princess decided to deal with their awkward for lack of a better

How Roadways and Public transit have impacted the city
The top issue in Toronto was the poor performance of public transit such as buses, streetcars, and
subway trains. The TTC system is of very bad performance that even many transit systems in third
world countries provide users with better experiences than trasit users have in Toronto. The current
major problems with TTC are: crowding during rush periods and insufficient ridership to justify
reasonable service levels at other times. Another problem was that Rob Ford was unwilling to accept a
proposal to reduce monitoring of fare payment. I have problems with the honour system, he said. John
Tory opposed the recommendations because they are not funded. But funding such service changes ...

In June of last year the TTC announced their plan to replace tickets and tokens by integrating Presto, a
Metrolinx smart card system all across the TTC by the end of this year. Tickets and tokens will only
be accepted to mid 2017. Public transit is one of the only means of transportation for people in this
situation, they usually have to chose between basic needs or fare. Also a study in Edmonton showed
that provding youths with monthly transit passes reduces their encounter with the police or any
criminal justice system. With new changes with the TTC they lack to consider these people in this
economic state. The Presto card cost $6 and needs a minimal of $10 in it, which is paid eithier by
credit, debit, or cash. Many people who don t have fixed adresses are not able to own a bank or credit
card. These people then have to use change to load the cards and with the Presto process which then
the card takes 7 10 days to arrive, it s more of hassle for people than to just carry over change, tickets,

There is numerous type of vulnerabilities that are considered weaknesses. There is no true bulletproof
program, system, or computer. Vulnerabilities can be considered but not limited to weak
authentication, lack of access control, errors in the programs, finite or insufficient resources and
inadequate physical protection (Pfleeger et al., 2015, p. 28).
Who would be the owner of the telemedicine application?
The owner of the telemedicine application would, in this case, be the OR director, as that department

The Negative Impact Of Smart Phones
Smart phones have been a big part of the world in the decade, especially iPhones. The first iPhone was
released on June 29, 2007, with many more released since then ( History of Phone ). Along with
changing how people communicate, the success and availability of the iPhone has impacted the world
s economy in many ways. You can argue that here, in America, iPhones, have positively impacted our
society and our economy. People have greater access to income because they conduct work in many
different settings, all day long. However, people have begun to replace human contact with virtual
contact via their iPhones. This is a negative impact on our lives.
You can also argue that the iPhone has had a negative impact on societies in many other countries in
which iPhone components are manufactured. There, Apple employees work long hours away from
their families, for minimal wages, in unsafe environments ( Globalization and Ideology ). They may
never even have the means to purchase their own iPhone. While Apple contributes to the economies of
many poor countries by manufacturing iPhone parts there, the company also steals from those
countries by robbing those employees of time interacting with family and friends.
According to The History of the iPhone (2014), the first iPhone was nicknamed Jesus phone because
of its impressive capabilities. It had a maximum storage of sixteen gigabytes. Now an iPhone has
storage available up to two hundred ninety six gigabytes. We can

He believes that alienation is a phenomenon of consciousness, involving an inherent disassociation of
man as subject and object. It is interesting to note that while Marx discusses four aspects of alienation
alienation from the object produced; alienation from one s work process itself; alienation from one s
work; alienation from one s fellow men, the Freudians hold that it is society that creates an emaciating
effect upon man s raw energy. Erich Fromm, like Hegel, explained alienation more than a sociological
phenomenon. He discussed four main ways in which a person can experience alienation: from nature,
from others, from society, and from the self. While discussing the concept of alienation, Karen Horney
talks about real self . Her main focus is on understanding the psychic processes which ensue when a
person loses touch with his real self or is self alienated. In Durkheim s phraseology, alienation as the
consequence of a state of anomie exists when people believe that there is a breakdown of societal

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Qfd
2.3 Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Quality function deployment (QFD) is originally developed
by Dr. Yoji Akao in Japan in 1966. It had been implemented by Dr. S. Mizuno. QFD is a method to
transform requirements of customers to products design. The purpose of QFD is to investigate the
most important elements to develop product that closely meet the needs of customers. According to
Akao (1990), QFD is one of the technique to ensure the design quality while the product is still in the
design stage. There are several benefits for using QFD. One of the benefits of QFD is customer
driven. This help the companies to focus on the voice of the customers. Besides, QFD allows the
companies to analyze the competitors products and services in the market place. Another benefit is
lowering the cost and time for development. There will be required minimum changes in the middle

progressive era of the late 19th and early 20th century. In modern California, it could be argued that
there has been no greater landmark than the passage of Proposition 140. In short, Proposition 140 was

During the 1980s, the California legislature had built a reputation as one of the most professional
legislatures in the country and for good reason. For one, the legislature enjoyed relatively low turnover
rates between 1979 and 1989, with the assembly ranked in the 16th country and the senate ranked 3rd
(Petracca, pg.11). But, following implementation of Proposition 140, instability was very pronounced
in the in the first years particularly in the assembly. For the first 8 years after the implementation of
term limits, speakers of the assembly were generally inexperienced and ineffective, lasting only for
budgets and an election. It was not until the appointment of John A. Perez in 2009, that the assembly
began to stabilize Another aspect of instability and ineffectualness of the assembly has been its
committees. Due inexperience of assemblymen, the process of identifying flawed legislation through

However, with the new construction environment and its changes such as the high usage of lean, BIM,

their general overhead costs and trying to control it. To gain profits, they started to allocate their
general overhead costs to different construction projects they are working on. In this paper, we
investigate how a construction company (general contractor) manages its general overhead costs.
Preceding this stage, we should provide few definitions of the general overhead costs in order to give
readers a deep insight of what this paper is about. Moreover, it is essential to explain how construction
contractors allocate their general overhead costs to construction projects, what methods they tend to
use for allocating, and what advantages and disadvantages does every method have. Further, we shift
our focus to activity based costing method by defining it and describing its steps. Since the main
purpose of this paper is to examine how construction contractors deal with their general overhead
costs, an interview should be conducted to know how contractors allocate general overhead cost to
construction projects to get profits. Indeed, each construction contractor may use a specific method
when allocating. Due to our interest in estimating, the interview was conducted with a senior

A Comparison and Contrast of Poe’s Fiction to Hawthorne’s
Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne were writers of the American gothic genre. They both used
the elements of horror and mystery in their writing styles, writing about the dark side of humanity and
the evil that lives within the human mind. Gothic writing focuses on the dark side of humanity and
both Poe and Hawthorne captured this style well in their use of themes, symbols, and narration that
focused on darkness and evil with their characters fighting various psychological issues. However,
Poe s stories are told in the first person narrative and he focuses on one human psychological effect,
looking at man s thoughts from within his mind and how his behavior then affects his surroundings.
He also tends to build a sense on impending doom somewhat stronger than Hawthorne. Hawthorne, on
the other hand uses the third person and focuses more on how man s thoughts and behaviors are the
results of what is happening around him. His stories also tend to be more of a romantic nature than
Poe s and he tends to create stories of conflicting interpretations to share lessons of life.
Both Poe and Hawthorne used symbolism to tell their stories. In The Tell Tale Heart, Poe uses a
number of symbols such as the old man s eye and heart. The narrator compares the old man s eye to
the eye of a vulture. It seems dull with something like a film over it, obscuring clear vision, but at the
same time it has power over the narrator. He states that the old man s eye the eye of a

My Vocation And Passion Is To Be A Paramedic
My vocation and passion is to become a paramedic. During my adolescent years, a close relative with
complex health needs was cared for and treated by paramedics. The idea of a profession which would
utilise problem solving abilities has always interested and encouraged me to pursue a career as a
paramedic. Having had the opportunity to observe frontline paramedics has inspired me to be part of a
dedicated and dynamic team. As I have had employment in Accident and Emergency and a doctor s
surgery, this had made me recognise and acknowledge the importance of patient care. I have
experience practicing in the workplace lawfully, safely and effectively. Using clear and concise record
management and documentation whilst continually maintaining patient confidentiality. In previous
jobs, particularly in the NHS, I have experience in communication with individuals from multiple
ethnic background, people who are deaf, blind, learning difficulties and people suffering with mental
health conditions. As I strongly believe in equality and diversity, all individuals should be treated
equally disregard of race, gender, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A challenge I intend to embrace. The thought of being able to help save lives, and provide help where
needed, really inspires me. An occasion where I was able to demonstrate my willingness to help others
was when returning from work one day when I came across an elderly lady who had fell. Using first
aid skills, I parked up and offered my assistance. The incident had involved the lady in a quiet street
falling over, who looked to be in serious condition; ensuring she was warm and comfortable, and
assured her that help was on the way. Once the emergency services had arrived, I walked away
knowing I had at least assured the lady of her safety. Even today, I still feel proud of myself for my act
of courage and believe I dealt with the situation in the best way of could, remaining calm and

The Ambiguity of Shakespeare s Ambiguous Hamlet
Ambiguity of Hamlet
In Shakespeare s dramatic tragedy Hamlet, the reader finds ambiguity of one type and another here
and there throughout the play. The protagonist himself is an especially ambiguous character is his own
rite.
Harold Bloom in the Introduction to Modern Critical Interpretations: Hamlet expounds on the
ambiguity and mysterious conduct of the hero during the final act:
When Horatio responds that Claudius will hear shortly from, presumably that Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern have been executed, Hamlet rather ambiguously [my italics] makes what might be read
as a final vow of revenge:
It will be short. The interim is mine.
And a man s life s no more than to say one. (2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His first soliloquy illustrates the hero s idealism by emphasizing the worthlessness of the corrupt
world and the frailty of women, but gives no specific direction to his own life: O, that this too too
solid flesh would melt, / Thaw and resolve itself into a dew!
The first soliloquy ends with the arrival of Horatio, the hero s closest friend ( Horatio, thou art e en as
just a man / As e er my conversation coped withal. ), and Marcellus, who escort the prince to the
ramparts of Elsinore to view the ghost of Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, which they have seen. At one
a.m. the ghost, ironically a sinner suffering in Purgatory (West 110), reveals to the protagonist the
extent of the evil within Elsinore the human truth (Abrams 467).
The ghost says that King Hamlet was murdered by Claudius, who had a relationship with Gertrude
prior to the murder; the ghost requests revenge by Hamlet: Revenge his foul and most unnatural
murder. Hamlet swears to do it even though he is uncertain of the ghost s origin. Philip Edwards The
Ghost: Messenger from a Higher Court of Values? presents the ambiguity present in the agency of the
ghost when he relegates punishment to the king but reserves it from his wife (67). Gunnar Boklund, in
Judgment in Hamlet, explains that the nature of the Ghost

  • 2. Attachment Problems Attachment problems can be caused by several different factors and it may actually be difficult to assess causality in some cases where the client history is incomplete or contradictory in places depending on the source. Ainsworth (1992) aptly summarized the attachment equation. First babies of sensitive mothers were more likely to be securely attached, while those who had less sensitive mothers were more likely to be insecurely attached. These insecurely attached children had more difficulty forming new skills and interests because of their lack of a secure base from which to work. Psychosocial factors that could contribute to attachment problems in childhood include problems with the infant, including a difficult temperament or physical ... A full physical, mental, and social history of the family, and the child, should be taken with careful attention paid to any trauma that may have occurred to the parent(s), the child, or the family as a whole and any history of substance abuse within the family or those with whom the child had frequent contact. Questions should be asked about the beginnings of the symptoms, however, in some situations the family may be a foster or adoptive family that is trying to figure out the behavior of a child and has never seen any different behavior from the child and may not have a full history of them. When possible, physicians, former caretakers, former caseworkers, and others who might know the child s history in the case of a foster or adopted child should be contacted and as much information should be gathered as possible. A Marschak Interaction Method Behavior Rating System may be useful here, for the current caretaker and child, if there is a trained clinician available to observe the mother child dyad and complete the assessment. It has been observed that high parental stress may inhibit ideal parent child interactions as well (McKay, Pickens, Stewart, 1996) and because of this the clinician may want to provide an assessment to the parent(s) that evaluates this such as the Parenting Stress ... • 3. Comparing Louka And Sergius The last type of love is manipulative love. Such a type of love is not determined by fate, but instead man made through cunning actions and quick wit. It thrives upon the great desire of one individual for another. In most cases, manipulative love is presented when one is already in a relationship with another. The relationship of Louka and Sergius was founded upon the manipulation if Louka and gives great insight into this type of love. The first example of manipulative love is presented when Louka and Sergius are alone together. She begins to tear at the foundation of the relationship of Raina and Sergius. Louka mocks Sergius telling him that he only married for wealth and not love. She proclaims that she is better than him because she would marry for true love regardless of her status. She gives an example, presenting a situation and explaining, LOUKA. Look at me! how much am I allowed to have my own will? I have to get your room ready for you to sweep and dust, to fetch and carry. How could that degrade me if it did not degrade you to have it done for you? But (with subdued passion) if I were Empress of Russia, above everyone in the world, then ah, then, though according to you I could shew no courage at all; you should see, you should see. ... If I loved you, though you would be as far beneath me as I am beneath you, I would dare to be the equal of my inferior. Would you dare as much if you loved me? No: if you felt the beginnings of love for me you would not let it grow. You dare not: you would marry a rich man s daughter because you would be afraid of what other people would say of you. • 4. Ethical Responsibilities At The Termination Of Their Group .54#2. What are your ethical responsibilities to group members at the termination of their group? Explain As a group leader, I have a myriad of ethical responsibilities to the group members, especially at the closing of the group. I need to exercise due diligence by using sound professional judgement to make sure each of my clients have some form of closure before they leave the group. In order to facilitate and prepare the group members for closure, I want to address three main points; I want to consolidate what they learned in the group, understand what they will do with what they learned, and how will they continue receiving support. Each member should share during this time. By consolidating what these men learned in this group, we will be able to understand where each member stands. In this group, members should have learned how to deal with their stress levels and find meaning in their diagnosis. Ethically, I need to recap during the last sessions with the clients to remind them what they have learned so the group experience was not for naught. Accordingly, I want to summarize with the group what they learned about the challenges of being HIV positive while encouraging them to use the skills they learned in the group outside of the group, while keeping the confidentiality of the group members. Accordingly with my facilitation, the clients should explore and summarize for themselves what they learned and how they have changed in the group over the past twelve weeks. ... • 5. Victor Frankenstein s The Monster Nicholas Monds Miss Sibbach English IV 11 December, 2015 Victor... Creator or Destroyer Victor Frankenstein worried about everyone else and playing God, rather than trying to do right, morally. Victor had to go through a lot of steps and difficulties to create the monster. After the creation of the monster, everyone including Victor abandoned him. Victor refused to create a girl creature to avoid a lot of problems, but he did not realize the hell the monster would end up causing him. Victor regrets trying to play God because his action would cause him great troubles and consequences. Victor Frankenstein had the great idea of creating a human like creature that ultimately became bigger, stronger, and meaner than everyone around. The process and steps took a lot longer than what Victor predicted. When the creature finally took his first breath, the two long years of anticipation finally relieved Victor of his stress. Victor stayed up numerous nights and missed so many meals stressing over this creature. He never gave up despite all the difficulties wanting to become the first ever bringing life to a creature. So much has been done, exclaimed the soul of Frankenstein more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked, I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation (sparknotes). They were obeying the command of the man in charge, and charged at the enemy forces that had been seizing their guns. All the soldiers knew that their commander had made a terrible mistake in judgment, but they did not get discouraged or down about it. They knew that the role of a soldier was to obey and not to make a reply...not to reason why, so they followed the orders and rode into the valley of death . Each group member pitched in an idea for us to consider; one was a board game with extensive RPG elements, and another was a card game that was a combination of two other famous card games. The group had a vote and the card game idea won out. At this stage, the aim of the game was to be a combination of two other card games. It would have the structure and playstyle of Egyptian Rat Screw while incorporating the idea of special cards from UNO . We didn t have knowledge on how certain mobile games were successful at this point, so that idea was the best that we had. As the game called for special cards akin to UNO , there were numerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main reason for this was that it would create too much confusion about the rules, as constantly adding new rules would require the player to slow down and think. Another problem would be keeping track of who owned each card. This would become a problem if players had the same special cards. Initially, our game was planned to be a trading card game, in which players had to acquire their own special cards in order to play the game. We voted on this idea as a way to create more distinction between our game and Egyptian Rat Screw . This idea was expanded upon during the third week where the games Magic: the Gathering and Hearthstone could provide a good model for how we might shape our card game. Special cards were to be used on along the standard playing card deck. A consequence of this rule was that we would have to make up a lot of different card effects while also making sure that they were balanced. Our first method of balancing came from labeling the power of the cards as low, medium, or high. Our rules indicated that each player would only be able to add a certain amount of cards from each power level so that each player wouldn t seriously outrank another player. An alternative to the balancing we had was that each player could bring in any amount of high powered cards that they want so that players would feel like their own cards helped them win the game more easily and feel a sense of ownership of their chosen cards. In other words I wanted to show others the behind the scenes of lesser characters in the movie. Just because someone in a movie is not shown as much as others, or is not portrayed as an important or famous member of something does not mean that they do not have any say nor have they not done anything important in their lives. For example by watching the movie I don t think I ever would have known or even thought that Bartlett had accomplished so many things or that he had done so amazingly well in politics or in medicine. One of Gaudi s most impressive and beautiful buildings is Casa Batlló. Gaudí designed the building for Josep Batlló, a wealthy aristocrat, as an upmarket home. He had asked Gaudi to tear down the old one to reconstruct a new one. Gaudí managed to convince Battló to remodel the existing building instead of tearing it down, and between 1904 and 1906 he redesigned the facade and roof, added an extra floor and completely remodeled the interior. The curves, the colour scheme that is used, the use of bones, it is simply captivating! This is what Gaudi s work is about to create an impact on its viewers. Though it is unfinished it is still on of the famous attractions in Barcelona. But the definition based off an example gives a literal definition; the act of a country to take over other nearby countries, to gain power and economic influence. An example of imperialism is the Opium Wars (Britain and China). The Chinese and the British were in war because British wanted to dominate and have all the goods that came from China like opium. This is why the example of the the Opium War will help understand the definition of what imperialism means in a real life situation. The illness associated with malaria gives intense fevers, chills, terrible headaches, muscle pains and can be deadly if not treated properly. Although overall malaria cases have decreased from 262 million in 2000 to 214 million in 2015, it is still an issue to be concerned about today.1 There have been developments of a vaccine against this parasite, but the parasite has adapted to the vaccine and developed a resistance to it, thus rendering it ineffective. The p. falciparum and p. vivax strains of malaria is what is causing problems as these resistant strains have popped up in much of Asia and Africa and a couple of countries in South America.1 This can potentially be a problem for the military and more specifically the Air Force as multiple countries where the Air Force deploys are infected with these resistant strains of malaria. It can be seen through the background and history of the fight against this parasite that the chemistry behind an antimalarial vaccine is important to the Air Force. The illness associated with the malaria parasite was first thought to be a result of poisonous mists drifting from marshes hence its name meaning bad air in Italian. Carbon has been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. In order to fully understand the story, it is necessary to know the historical context. You can argue that here, in America, iPhones, have positively impacted our society and our economy. People have greater access to income because they conduct work in many different settings, all day long. However, people have begun to replace human contact with virtual contact via their iPhones. This is a negative impact on our lives. You can also argue that the iPhone has had a negative impact on societies in many other countries in which iPhone components are manufactured. There, Apple employees work long hours away from their families, for minimal wages, in unsafe environments ( Globalization and Ideology ). They may never even have the means to purchase their own iPhone. While Apple contributes to the economies of many poor countries by manufacturing iPhone parts there, the company also steals from those countries by robbing those employees of time interacting with family and friends. Erich Fromm, like Hegel, explained alienation more than a sociological phenomenon. He discussed four main ways in which a person can experience alienation: from nature, from others, from society, and from the self. While discussing the concept of alienation, Karen Horney talks about real self . • 40. A Comparison and Contrast of Poe’s Fiction to Hawthorne’s Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne were writers of the American gothic genre. They both used the elements of horror and mystery in their writing styles, writing about the dark side of humanity and the evil that lives within the human mind. Gothic writing focuses on the dark side of humanity and both Poe and Hawthorne captured this style well in their use of themes, symbols, and narration that focused on darkness and evil with their characters fighting various psychological issues. However, Poe s stories are told in the first person narrative and he focuses on one human psychological effect, looking at man s thoughts from within his mind and how his behavior then affects his surroundings. He also tends to build a sense on impending doom somewhat stronger than Hawthorne. Hawthorne, on the other hand uses the third person and focuses more on how man s thoughts and behaviors are the results of what is happening around him. His stories also tend to be more of a romantic nature than Poe s and he tends to create stories of conflicting interpretations to share lessons of life. Both Poe and Hawthorne used symbolism to tell their stories. In The Tell Tale Heart, Poe uses a number of symbols such as the old man s eye and heart.
