MUSE
THE BRAIN SENSING HEADBAND
Muse is a flexible 6-sensor brainwave
headband for everyday use. It's Specially
designed to work with a family of
applications with exercises for brain Health,
fitness training, stress management, studying
and many more. Muse allows you to get the
most out of the mental skills you already
have, and to do More with your mind then
you ever thought possible.
The Muses were ancient Greek goddesses of Art and
Science who inspired genius and creativity in mortals
INTRODUCING MUSE, OUR BRAINWAVE-
SENSING HEADBAND.
It's a comfortable, sleek, four-sensor
headband that allows you to control
applications, games, reduce stress,
improve memory and concentration, and
eventually to control devices directly
with your mind.
Muse measures your brainwaves in real-time. It sends
those brainwaves to your smart phone or tablet
showing you how well your brain is performing; and
also translates your brainwaves into instructions to
interact with content on your iOS or Android device.
Our brain sensing headband provides a real-time
measurement of your brain's activity.
By connecting Muse to your Smartphone
or tablet using Bluetooth, you are able to
see this activity using one of our custom
applications. You're accessing technology
used by doctors and specialists for years,
right in the comfort of your home.
This technology measures mental states
such as calmness or attention by
digitizing brainwave signals. It cannot
read thoughts. Muse is a non-invasive
device.
Think of it as an inside-out relationship.
Brainwaves travel from the brain to the
headband but it isn't possible for the
headband to channel any inputs into the
brain. Taking your pulse might tell you how
fast your heart is beating, but cannot control
your heart rate. A heart rate monitor might
tell you how active your body is but not
whether you were jogging or riding a bike
nor tell you to do a specific activity to change
your heart rate. Muse and our Brain Health
System only work when you control and
command them with the power of your mind.
We can tell you how active your brain is, but
not if you're thinking about the color blue.
 Why should I care about seeing my
brainwave activity?
Effective brain functioning requires flexibility
and stability. People constantly tell us they "can't
turn off" their minds, and this can have a
tremendous impact on a person's well-being.
Enhancing brain flexibility allows you to shift
brain activity to match what you are doing, like
concentrating at work or de-stressing before you
go home. Having a more resilient or stable brain
allows you to bounce back from unhealthy
activities and experiences - like lack of sleep,
drinking, injury etc. Seeing your brainwave
activity allows you to train, condition and
enhance your mind.
 Is Muse splash or waterproof?
Muse was not designed to be a splash or
waterproof device. Because of the electrical
wiring inside the headband, we recommend
that you do NOT submerge it in water or keep
it in an area where it would be at risk of
coming into contact with a large amount of
water. We cannot commit to the spatial ability
or control of Muse after it has had contact with
water or liquid of any kind.
 Muse is designed with dry sensors, and does
not require gel.
 Currently, Muse is not a certified medical EEG
device
 Why are you creating new manufacturing
processes for Muse?
 Our first headband iterations used rigid parts typical in most
EEG designs. This is something manufacturers can produce
easily. As we continued to lock down our final design and
tested the headband on hundreds of heads with varying shapes
and sizes we decided to make some big modifications to
improve the design, fit and connectivity.
 This new design -- working with parts that are softer, more
flexible and have better conductive properties requires a
whole rethink on manufacturing -- is one that no
manufacturer has tackled so far. And that takes time.
Retooling. New processes. New thinking. EEG is a very
finicky technology so we wanted to take extra time with the
design to ensure our customers didn't have to fiddle with it
too much so they could dive into the apps and experiences
we're designing.
working
Your brain creates brainwave activity every
moment of your life, day and night, awake or
asleep. Each state is accompanied by specific
brain wave patterns. For example, brains of
people in relaxed states create gentle, slow-
moving alpha waves, while those engaged in
intense concentration generate quick,
jagged beta waves
Types of brainwaves Muse measure:-
 Muse measures brain activities and frequencies that vary
depending on your state of mind. There are five main
brainwave bands that Muse detects at any given time. Each
brainwave band occurs in different proportions, and Muse
measures the changes in those proportions when something
happens. The five bands are:
 Delta waves which are most present during sleep.
 Theta waves which are associated with sleep, very deep
relaxation, and visualization.
 Alpha waves which occur when relaxed and calm.
 Beta waves which occur when, for example, actively
thinking or problem-solving.
 Gamma waves which occur when involved in higher mental
activity and consolidation of information.
This brainwave data may look like it’s just couple of squiggly lines, but our
algorithms (and our developers) see a wealth of information
 Muse uses sensors to pick up the tiny electrical outputs
generated by your brain’s activity. As you shift
between states like concentration and relaxation,
Muse’s algorithms detect the subtle changes in your
brain and show you those changes in real time, just like
a heart rate monitor can provide information about your
physical activity.
 These signals can be used in a number of ways. Right
now, you can see your brainwaves in action and use that
information to improve and strengthen your mind. In
the future, InteraXon is looking to use these brainwaves
to interact with devices in the real world--devices that
respond to your thoughts like turning off your smart
phone when you are asleep or turning off the TV.
Muse sits across your forehead like a
headband, and rests behind your ears like a
pair of glasses. When properly worn, the EEG
(electroencephalography) sensors on the front
of the band make contact on your forehead,
and the reference sensors on the arms rest on
the backs of your ears. Muse connects
wirelessly to your devices via Bluetooth. Once
Muse is on, you’ll hardly notice it at all.
PEOPLE WHO INVENTED AND DESIGNED IT:
Intera Xon is an interdisciplinary team of
artists & engineers, neuroscientists &
designers. Our founders have been working
with this technology for almost a decade.
The team started to come together in 2007,
and since then we’ve been working to make
brain-computer interfaces an accessible,
affordable reality.* * * *
MUSE HEADBAND TECH SPECS

In the future, use your thoughts to play games, operate appliances and so much more.
THANK You

Muse Senser

  • 1. MUSE THE BRAIN SENSING HEADBAND Muse is a flexible 6-sensor brainwave headband for everyday use. It's Specially designed to work with a family of applications with exercises for brain Health, fitness training, stress management, studying and many more. Muse allows you to get the most out of the mental skills you already have, and to do More with your mind then you ever thought possible.
  • 2. The Muses were ancient Greek goddesses of Art and Science who inspired genius and creativity in mortals
  • 3. INTRODUCING MUSE, OUR BRAINWAVE- SENSING HEADBAND. It's a comfortable, sleek, four-sensor headband that allows you to control applications, games, reduce stress, improve memory and concentration, and eventually to control devices directly with your mind.
  • 4.
  • 5. Muse measures your brainwaves in real-time. It sends those brainwaves to your smart phone or tablet showing you how well your brain is performing; and also translates your brainwaves into instructions to interact with content on your iOS or Android device. Our brain sensing headband provides a real-time measurement of your brain's activity.
  • 6. By connecting Muse to your Smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth, you are able to see this activity using one of our custom applications. You're accessing technology used by doctors and specialists for years, right in the comfort of your home. This technology measures mental states such as calmness or attention by digitizing brainwave signals. It cannot read thoughts. Muse is a non-invasive device.
  • 7. Think of it as an inside-out relationship. Brainwaves travel from the brain to the headband but it isn't possible for the headband to channel any inputs into the brain. Taking your pulse might tell you how fast your heart is beating, but cannot control your heart rate. A heart rate monitor might tell you how active your body is but not whether you were jogging or riding a bike nor tell you to do a specific activity to change your heart rate. Muse and our Brain Health System only work when you control and command them with the power of your mind. We can tell you how active your brain is, but not if you're thinking about the color blue.
  • 8.  Why should I care about seeing my brainwave activity? Effective brain functioning requires flexibility and stability. People constantly tell us they "can't turn off" their minds, and this can have a tremendous impact on a person's well-being. Enhancing brain flexibility allows you to shift brain activity to match what you are doing, like concentrating at work or de-stressing before you go home. Having a more resilient or stable brain allows you to bounce back from unhealthy activities and experiences - like lack of sleep, drinking, injury etc. Seeing your brainwave activity allows you to train, condition and enhance your mind.
  • 9.  Is Muse splash or waterproof? Muse was not designed to be a splash or waterproof device. Because of the electrical wiring inside the headband, we recommend that you do NOT submerge it in water or keep it in an area where it would be at risk of coming into contact with a large amount of water. We cannot commit to the spatial ability or control of Muse after it has had contact with water or liquid of any kind.  Muse is designed with dry sensors, and does not require gel.  Currently, Muse is not a certified medical EEG device
  • 10.  Why are you creating new manufacturing processes for Muse?  Our first headband iterations used rigid parts typical in most EEG designs. This is something manufacturers can produce easily. As we continued to lock down our final design and tested the headband on hundreds of heads with varying shapes and sizes we decided to make some big modifications to improve the design, fit and connectivity.  This new design -- working with parts that are softer, more flexible and have better conductive properties requires a whole rethink on manufacturing -- is one that no manufacturer has tackled so far. And that takes time. Retooling. New processes. New thinking. EEG is a very finicky technology so we wanted to take extra time with the design to ensure our customers didn't have to fiddle with it too much so they could dive into the apps and experiences we're designing.
  • 11. working Your brain creates brainwave activity every moment of your life, day and night, awake or asleep. Each state is accompanied by specific brain wave patterns. For example, brains of people in relaxed states create gentle, slow- moving alpha waves, while those engaged in intense concentration generate quick, jagged beta waves
  • 12. Types of brainwaves Muse measure:-  Muse measures brain activities and frequencies that vary depending on your state of mind. There are five main brainwave bands that Muse detects at any given time. Each brainwave band occurs in different proportions, and Muse measures the changes in those proportions when something happens. The five bands are:  Delta waves which are most present during sleep.  Theta waves which are associated with sleep, very deep relaxation, and visualization.  Alpha waves which occur when relaxed and calm.  Beta waves which occur when, for example, actively thinking or problem-solving.  Gamma waves which occur when involved in higher mental activity and consolidation of information.
  • 13. This brainwave data may look like it’s just couple of squiggly lines, but our algorithms (and our developers) see a wealth of information
  • 14.  Muse uses sensors to pick up the tiny electrical outputs generated by your brain’s activity. As you shift between states like concentration and relaxation, Muse’s algorithms detect the subtle changes in your brain and show you those changes in real time, just like a heart rate monitor can provide information about your physical activity.  These signals can be used in a number of ways. Right now, you can see your brainwaves in action and use that information to improve and strengthen your mind. In the future, InteraXon is looking to use these brainwaves to interact with devices in the real world--devices that respond to your thoughts like turning off your smart phone when you are asleep or turning off the TV.
  • 15. Muse sits across your forehead like a headband, and rests behind your ears like a pair of glasses. When properly worn, the EEG (electroencephalography) sensors on the front of the band make contact on your forehead, and the reference sensors on the arms rest on the backs of your ears. Muse connects wirelessly to your devices via Bluetooth. Once Muse is on, you’ll hardly notice it at all.
  • 16. PEOPLE WHO INVENTED AND DESIGNED IT: Intera Xon is an interdisciplinary team of artists & engineers, neuroscientists & designers. Our founders have been working with this technology for almost a decade. The team started to come together in 2007, and since then we’ve been working to make brain-computer interfaces an accessible, affordable reality.* * * *
  • 17. MUSE HEADBAND TECH SPECS  Flexible, adjustable, lightweight headband with 4 sensors - including two on the forehead and two behind the ears  Communicates over Bluetooth and is compatible with iOS (iPhone, iPad, iTouch), Android, Mac OS (OS X), Windows and Linux  SDK (Software Development Kit) included for the platforms listed above  Open communication standard to allow people to write their own device drivers, so that Muse can be used with software platforms not covered by the SDK  Rechargeable battery (charge via micro-USB jack, just like most cell phones). Lasts for 5 hours of use.
  • 18. MUSE: The Brain-Sensing Headband that lets you control things with your mind. See your brain in action. See how it performs. Improve it over time. In the future, use your thoughts to play games, operate appliances and so much more.
