Did You Know? As just mentioned,  one  pint of blood can save as many as  three lives. Every year India requires 40 million units of 250cc blood out of which only a meager 500,000 of blood units are available.  Every two seconds, someone in India needs blood.  One out of every three of us will need blood in our life time. Even with all of today’s technology, there is no substitute for blood. Leadership, Experience & opportunity
Did You Know? 60% of donors only donate 1 time per year.  Persons ages 16 and up can potentially donate blood. A person can donate blood every 56-days (about every 2 months). A person has 10-12 pints of blood in their body. Typically, blood volume is replaced in 24-hours after donation. Someone has to give blood in order for someone to receive blood. What Do I Have To Do To Donate? Be able to dedicate 1 Hour of your time.  The  entire   process  takes about 1 Hour. Drawing blood only takes  6-8 minutes ! Read the eligibility information and answer   questions honestly. This is mandatory. Leadership, Experience & opportunity
What Are Some Tips For a Successful Donation? Eat well .  Eating foods rich in iron helps prepare you to donate (red meat, raisins, beans, green veggies, cereal). Drink plenty of WATER  before and after you donate.  Get a  good night’s sleep  the night before! Leadership, Experience & opportunity Be sure to “PIG-OUT” before you donate!
What Do I Get in Return for Giving Blood? A sense of  PRIDE   A patient’s  GRATITUDE A Certificate by  LEO Club of Ratlam Classic . A certificate by  Manav Seva Samiti “Blood Bank” . Leadership, Experience & opportunity
Excuses No one ever asked  Enough other people must be giving blood My blood type is not needed I don’t have enough blood  I don’t have time I am afraid of needles Leadership, Experience & opportunity
Here Are Some Reasons to Donate Leadership, Experience & opportunity Blood is always needed for treatment of : accident victims cancer patients hemophiliacs surgery patients and many others 1 out of 10 hospital patients needs a blood transfusion.
… And Another Reason Leadership, Experience & opportunity A premature baby needs 1 to 4 units of red cells while in intensive care. Open heart surgery for a newborn takes: 1 -4 units of red cells 1-2 units of plasma 1-3 platelet transfusions
