Program Introduction

Renewal Testing Course Purpose
• Designed for former CPS Technicians who have
maintained their knowledge and skills.

• NOT a refresher course. It is expected you have
stayed involved in CPS programs and activities
and kept up with changes in field.

• An opportunity to renew certification without
having to retake the entire certification course.

• Upon successful completion of this course, you
will again be a certified CPS Technician.

• Select appropriate car seats and booster seats
and secure children in vehicle restraint systems
according to best practice guidelines and
manufacturer instructions.

• Teach others how to install car seats and
booster seats in multiple types of vehicles
according to manufacturer instructions and best
practice guidelines.

• Use appropriate resources to obtain updated
CPS information.

• Serve as a CPS resource in the community,
state, or organization.

  • 3. Renewal Testing Course Purpose • Designed for former CPS Technicians who have maintained their knowledge and skills. • NOT a refresher course. It is expected you have stayed involved in CPS programs and activities and kept up with changes in field. • An opportunity to renew certification without having to retake the entire certification course. • Upon successful completion of this course, you will again be a certified CPS Technician. 1-3

Renewal Testing Course Goals • Select appropriate car seats and booster seats and secure children in vehicle restraint systems according to best practice guidelines and manufacturer instructions. • Teach others how to install car seats and booster seats in multiple types of vehicles according to manufacturer instructions and best practice guidelines. 1-5
  • 6. Renewal Testing Course Goals (continued) • Use appropriate resources to obtain updated CPS information. • Serve as a CPS resource in the community, state, or organization. 1-6
