3. What is Mobie Zine?
• User-friendly HTML5 electronic publication system.
• Can be used to publish easily accessible content for smartphones,
tablet devices, computers and TV screens – regardless of the
platform.
• The system automatically adjusts the layout.
• You can enrich published pages with e.g. videos, presentation
graphics, maps, interactive services and embedded documents from
Office 365 or other applications.
• Automatic syllabication (Finnish, Swedish, English)
• Can be published in offline mode.
• Designed for e-publications but can
be printed as a PDF file.

• Publish Date (unless it can be
published right away)
• Choose the theme or make your own
• Add cover picture
– Recommentation 1062 x 1495 px
– Format jpg tai png
• Other choices are optional

11. Settings (Inställningar, Sätted)
• Use hyphenation if text is
in Finnish, English or Swedish.
• Use offline but choose it only
when the edition is ready to be
published. Do not use offline
mode if you plan to edit the
publication.
• Authentication:
Disabled = the publication is
open for everyone to view
WordPress = only users of
your OnEdu environment can
view the Edition.
• ”Kansibanneri”: Banner will be
shown on the cover
• ”Kansiotsikko”: The title is on
the cover.

13. Other settings
• ARTICLES: Choose the order of the articles in the table of contents.
• CLONE: Dublicate the publication.
• EXPORT: Edition export generates an export package of all the
articles and images contained in the publication. The package may
then be imported to another Zine installation.

• ”Enter the title”
• Attach to the Edition (Lägg till i utgåvan, Lisa väljaandesse)
– EDITION = Choose Zine from the list
– MODEL OF THE ARTICLE (Artikelmall)
Normal article: text-based article that can include photos, embedded content etc.
Picture-article: Includes only picture which are the size of a full page (1062 x 1495 px). Can
also inlude embedded content (Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint etc.).
Leader article: Two colums, one for text and another for picture.
• Table of contents: Add article to the table of contents.

16. Adding a new article
• You can add the subheading
(not subtitle )
• Choose the language
• Article types:
- Zine article: First-hand choice
- WordPress article: If you
need to edit it with mobile device.
You will find the articles:

Add a featured image (Utvald bild,
Tunnuspilt) on the right
column:
• It is for the table of contents
• Recommendation 600 x 350 px
• To get the same picture to the
article, add it there too.

17. Zine automatically adjusts the layout
Here you see what the
table of contents looks
like when you view it with
a laptop or a phone.
Small pictures are called
featured images
(Utvald bild, Tunnuspilt).

18. Adding the same article to
several publications
• It is possible to add one article to several publications. Notice that if
you then edit the article, the changes are made to all publications.
• You can also copy (clone, klona, klooni) the publication. Then you can
edit the copy and its articles but editing them does not change the
original publication and its articles.

25. Where to find pictures?
• Use the library or bring your own pictures.
• Other pictures require a permisson (if newer than 50 years).
• There are a lots of free Creative Commons licensed pictures and
other content on the internet.

30. Pictures and other media in articles
• It is best to add media at the end of each article. 
Zine automatically adjusts the layout!
• The pictures and other media can be clicked to view them in
full screen mode.

31. Recommended sizes
• Cover: 1062 x 1495 px
• Featured image for table of contens: 600 x 350 px
• Landscape: 1600-1800 x 900-1100 px
• Vertical: 600 x 800 px
• Whole page pictures: 1062 x 1495 px
Bring the pictures to the library
and change the size there if needed.

32. How to add media
• You can save pictures, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF-files to
Dashboard  Media  Library (Bibliotek, Mediateek) and link or
embed them to your courses or Zine publications.
• You can easily upload files (Ladda up filer, Lisa uus) to Library.
When adding new pictures to library
• Add one or several categories
• Add a caption and tell the photographer, source and license
if needed.
• Description can contain also other information (location, year etc.).

34. Adding OnEdu course tasks, exams, forms
and discussion groups to Zine
• Add the tasks etc. to the course environment.
• Notice: the privacy options of your discussion group affect who can view the
content.
• Copy the link from the course environment. If needed, make it a sample lesson, so
also those who do not have an accout can view it.
• Edit the Zine article
– Link the lessons/topics or discussion groups to Zine OR
– Click ADD MEDIA and add your picture (like below). Then click the picture and activate
it and replace its URL with the link of a lesson/topic.
• Adding a form: Add a form to your online course and copy the link of that
lesson/topic to Zine.

35. Print as a PDF file
• Remove cover from the address bar and replace it with pdf.
• You can now save or print the PDF file.
