Computers And Other Types Of Electronics
For ages the question has been debated, to what do humans owe our thinking abilities and can
computers and other types of electronics have the capacity to think? Over millions of years humans
have developed the capacity to think critically and to have higher intelligent thinking than other
animals. The human brain has evolved to have a prefrontal cortex which is responsible for executive
functioning. These functions include responding to complex problems, maintaining a set behavior,
planning, problem solving, judging a situation, and making good, intellectual choices. With
developments such as these higher functions, humans have the ability to fully comprehend situations
with their minds, and can act at their own free will to make choices, unlike computers. Computers
must be acted upon in order to think or to search for an answer. Computers are an invention created by
man. They must be programmed to something, they do not exist or act without the assistance of man.
Since computers are not able to think on their own and must be programmed by man, a computer
should not be considered to know how to think. Thinking is complex in that it requires you to ponder a
choice and for you to comprehend and analyze it to make a final decision. To think is to contemplate
various scenarios and situations and reason. In order to think you must have an initial thought or idea
that was triggered by some type of stimuli. To contemplate such stimuli you would need a mind or
something to

The American Of The British Empire
In marked contrast to the monarchy and the dispute about the rights of succession and control over the
Spanish Empire, the American colonies sought independence from the British monarchy and
government. The Americans wanted a completely new government, without a King or any form of
monarchy. While the Spanish crisis was one of leadership, connection to other empires, a desire to
avoid partition. The American crisis in government came about through the actions of the King, and
the colonists questioning the authority of the British Parliament to rule over them.
The American colonies served an important role in the British Empire during the first half of the 1700
s. King George III ascended to the throne in 1760, and took control of the empire and its vast
territories. The British Constitution provided for the monarchial rule, and two representative bodies
the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. None of the British colonies had representation in
these houses, and this proved to be the issue with the American colonies. The colonies administration
technically fell under the Privy Council and Secretary of State. Parliament made policy regarding the
colonies, and defined the economic relationship between England and the colonies. Governors acted
locally in the King s name and enforced the laws. The colonies also had their own political institutions
in the form of local assemblies, legislatures, and county, city and town governments. Most of the
colonies

Bariaso Hussein Case Study
I m very happy to write this letter and share with you what a pleasure it s been to manage Bariso
Hussein these past six months. Bariso was initially working here at Stoel Rives mail room from 3pm
to 6pm each night after school. With the start of summer, he began working full days from 10am to
6pm, Monday through Friday. Bariso entered this full time schedule with much enthusiasm and he
even expressed interest in learning other duties and responsibilities so that he may better support the
team, and better support Stoel Rives. Bariso learned quickly, and demonstrated a great attention to
detail in his time with us. In addition, Bariso s support over the summer has been a major factor in

Bariso took the initiative to improve the process for the Work Room Supply Checklist which he would
use when stocking work rooms. He took a basic, confusing excel spreadsheet and enhanced it into a
clear and concise check list. We will continue to use this same, edited checklist file. This is only one
of many examples of Bariso going above and beyond. In another example, he ran to the post office to
make a 2pm cutoff to mail off paperwork related to an important case. Bariso demonstrated a can do
attitude and helped us bring resolution to many staff requests, urgent and otherwise. Overall, Bariso
has helped my team to raise the bar and improve our level of service. Our Office Services team strives
for service excellence, and I m very pleased to say that Bariso adopted our philosophy. I m also
confident that he ll continue to strive for excellence in all of his endeavors. Please don t hesitate to

Structure Fire
Reducing the Spread of Structure Fires
Nameless
Abstract
This paper gives an overview of just a few of the ways fire companies can help limit the spread of a
structure fire. A few factors to take into consideration that are discussed here are ventilation, nozzle
type, and time. Along with the ways that these concepts can help reduce the spread of a structure fire
are ways that, if used incorrectly or misjudged, can greatly worsen the situation and the behavior of
the fire.
Reducing the Spread of Structure Fires
Structure fires can spread very rapidly if proper precautions are not taken. Fire companies have a
variety of actions they can take and many factors to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(West et al. s, 2009, para. 20 51).
If PPV is used incorrectly it can cause severely dangerous fire behavior which can result in deaths or
injuries to firefighters and civilians. Some common problems that can cause this severe fire behavior
are the lack of an exhaust opening, an insufficient exhaust opening size, and a lack of leadership and
organization. West et al. s (2009) states that, If PPV is not effective, increased air flow is accompanied
with turbulence and resultant mixing of fuel and air which increases the probability of ignition and
rapid fire progression (para. 20). Overall, ventilation can be a great way to effectively limit the spread
of fires, however, incorrect use can worsen the situation and the fire can become an increased threat to
firefighters and civilians.
Another thing that can significantly impact and limit the spread of a structure fire is the nozzle type.
There are three basic types of nozzle patterns, smooth bore nozzles, fog nozzles, and specialty nozzles.
Each of these is very important and has many different uses during a fire. The one most talked about is
the fog nozzle. The fog nozzle can provide a number of stream shapes to suit different types of fire
situations. Fog nozzles break the water that runs through it into small droplets, which is believed to
create more surface area than a solid stream. The water absorbs the heat and turns it into steam which
displaces the oxygen and suffocates

Why People Cheat
Why People Cheat?
People enter into a relationship to get to know the other person, they enter into a commitment based
on their love, and they seek happiness in life. Whether happiness revolves around marriage and kids or
a significant other to spend life with. All relationships have problems. A couple married for 35 years
did t hit several bumps in the road. What makes their relationship last while others don t? That is a
tough question to answer because there are a lot of factors. Cheating on your spouse or significant
other is just one factor in an unhappy relationship.
Why do people cheat? There are several reasons. The biggest is opportunity and unhappiness.

How do people make decisions about their sexual behavior? What is the role of will power or self
control when it comes to infidelity? What motivates our sex drive? What makes it so difficult for men
and women to be faithful? Why do people cheat, but then expect or demand their partners to be
faithful? Why are some men and women more likely to cheat than others? What can be done to
prevent infidelity?
How Do People Make the Decision To Cheat?
To start with, human sexuality is incredibly complex. Decisions about our sexual behavior are
typically not planned in advance. Few people intentionally plan on committing infidelity (at least not
the first time it happens).
When making promises to be faithful, most people are serious and have every intention of keeping
their word.
But while people generally have the best intentions when making such promises, human behavior is
not always governed by the fact that vows were taken and that promises were made.
When it comes to making decisions about love and betrayal, logic and reason have a difficult time
competing with our emotions for control. So from time to time, our emotions influence our behavior
and lead us down paths we had no intention of traveling.
In fact, three separate emotional systems are involved in cheating sexual desire, romantic love, and
attachment. And often these distinct emotional systems pull people in different directions

The Joy Luck Club
Lost in Translation
Amy Tan said in the People Magazine in 1989 about her novel, The Joy Luck Club, The book could be
about any culture or generation and what is lost between them. Amy Tan reveals that the mothers try
to pass on their Chinese heritage and teach their American born daughters to avoid the mistakes the
mothers made growing up in China. However, the daughters often see their mothers attempts at
guidance as attempting to control their lives. The mother and daughter pair of Lindo and Waverly
epitomize this relationship, where Lindo tries to integrate Chinese and American cultures into her own
life and Waverly tries to both be independent and keep her Chinese heritage. Although Waverly and
Lindo do not mend their cultural conflicts completely, their experiences with one another allow them
to change and accept one another.
Lindo and Waverly are two women who experienced very different childhoods, where the society and
cultures of China and America pushed them in separate directions. Lindo grew up in China, where
family is the single most important priority. At the young age of two, she is promised to the Huangs
son for marriage (51) by her parents through a matchmaker. She is an obedient wife (56), learning to
please Huang Taitai while planning a way to null the marriage arrangement. By living a dual identity

carries the gene for Huntington s disease. She is agonizing over the decision about sharing this
information with others. She doesn t know what to do or who to tell. So she goes to a doctor to get his
opinion on if it would be right or not to let her family or boyfriend know. While she is waiting in the
waiting room she is imagining how her life would be if she had Huntington s disease. What type of
burden she would be on peoples their opinions about her. Her family would not be able to leave
because they would constantly have to take care of her whether that be her hopefully husband or
another family member. When she goes to any event in public she will make a scene or outburst and
how they all will judge her about her condition. Susan starts to hypervinalate in the waiting room as
all these scenarios run uncontroably through her head. Finally the doctor walks in and she focuses
back in on reality. She explains the situation to the doctor that she found out she carries the gene for
Huntington s disease and she doesn t know who to tell. The doctor explains what he would do and
gives her recommendations. For her parents she shouldn t tell them because they will not be able to do
anything about it or they may be dead by the time she starts experiencing it extremely. It would just

Themes Of Japan s Indigenous Religion
THEMES
Japan s indigenous religion is Shintō, and its customs are enmeshed in Japanese culture. It is animistic,
seeing gods and spirits in everything. This leads to a deep respect for human harmony with the
environment. Many Ghibli films contain jinja, or shrines, and torii, or sacred gates, which are used to
pay respect or give offerings in Shintōism. Ghibli films also contain kami, spirits that reside in all
things. Princess Mononoke is filled with a kami (Odell 28).
Other Japanese mythology is seen through Miyazaki films through spirits that have the ability to
transform their shape, such as the foxes and raccoons in Pom Poko. Buddhism also influences
Miyazaki films. Dragons derive from Buddhist legends and are in Spirited Away. Buddhist statues are
also seen in My Neighbor Totoro, and Pom Poko (Odell 28). All of his movies contain variations of
spirits, demons, or fantastical creatures rooted in nature. There is a balance of empathy through his
human elements, but mystery in his fantasy elements.
One major theme that runs through all Miyazaki films is environmentalism, or how mankind interacts
with nature. This is closely linked with the Shintō ethic that sees the environment as interconnected
beings that deserve respect. In Princess Mononoke, the center of the plot is focused on the conflict
between humans destroying the forest and the gods and spirits who are fighting back. In Ponyo, the
dumping of waste is almost her downfall right at the beginning of the movie

Emotion Vs Intellect In Lord Of The Flies
It is certain that the essence of good literature lies within the tension between emotion and intellect,
yet the way authors choose to deal with the balance of this tension is what makes great literature.
Throughout completely different genres of literature, Lord of The Flies, Whiplash and Life of Pi
expose to us how emotion and intellect are concomitant, forcing us to consider how the essence of
great literature is created by the way the author chooses to intentionally create an imbalance of tension
between emotion and intellect. In Lord of The Flies, we are able to experience the essence of great
literature through the external conflict between the two groups of survivors. We are forced to question
the consequences of making decisions based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Whiplash, the character of Andrew is developed as we experience the tension between emotion and
intellect within him diminish throughout the film, as his emotions quickly consume him; forcing him
to make decisions based upon emotion alone. At the beginning of the film, Andrew s choice to practice
his drumming is based collectively upon emotion and intellect as he wishes to be remembered as one
of the greats, knowing that practising is the only way to be so. However, from the middle of the film
onwards, we experience Andrew s decisions become based entirely upon his emotions. Andrew
quickly becomes consumed by them, putting his success as a musician ahead of his own well being.
Even after being seriously injured in a car crash, he runs to Lincoln Centre to play a concert saying,
Look, sorry I m late, but uh... I m here, I m ready to go . This is similar to the character of Pi in Life of
Pi. At the beginning of the film, Pi s decisions are based collectively upon emotion and intellect as he
says I will not die. I refuse it. I will make it through this nightmare and then begin to be entirely
fuelled by his emotions as he talks of Richard Parker, the tiger that tried to kill him many times,
saying, I miss him . This

Identify the key factors that help ensure the information required for the project is gathered
successfully.
Information gathering techniques are the core of systems analysis. According to Valacich At the
outset, you must collect information about the information systems that are currently in use. You need
to find out how users would like to improve the current systems and organizational operations with
new or replacement information systems. (p. 126). The first information gathering technique would be
individual interviews. Each interview should be well planned out. It should be scheduled when the
interviewee has time and the intention of the interview should be explained beforehand. An interview
guide or checklist should be created for each interview. During the interview ask both open ended and
close ended questions, listen closely to what the interviewee has to say, and take notes during the
interview. Interview a wide range of personnel from everyday users to management.
Another information gathering technique is directly observetion of the users in the current HR system.
By observing users using the current system different issues with the system can be seen that may
have been missed in an interview. Havelka says these observations will provide a more accurate
depiction of operations, requirements, and procedures within the company (April 25, 2002).
Analyzing business documents is yet another information gathering technique. Documents such as

The Law Of Property Act 1925
The law in relation to co ownership interests in property has changed a vast amount in recent years.
This has resulted in both changes in the legislative framework surrounding co ownership; the
development of the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA) , also due to the
increase in occurrence of co ownership many practical problems have been revealed which the Law of
Property Act 1925 simply did not clearly provide for. Additionally, changes within the society and
economic influences have triggered many problems on the path towards property ownership. The Law
of Property Act 1925 (LPA), established the original scheme of co ownership, however it was
incapable of dealing with this change in time.
In this scenario, a considerable amount depends on whether Emma owns a share in the house or, in
other words whether she has a proprietary interest in it. If Emma is able to establish that she has this
interest then she may be able entitled to a share within the property. When the property was purchased
it was done so in David s name. The purchase is by mortgage and by cash deposit. David has paid the
entire cash deposit, as he is the sole legal owner of the property as well as this, the mortgage is made
with him. Aforementioned, the title is registered in his name alone and there is no express declaration
of trust in writing in favour of Emma.

Most whole foods have polyphenols, which are antioxidants contained in vibrant colors. This added
advantage to eating fresh foods is just another reason for you to avoid processed ones. Your food will
look good, as well as maintain your health.
HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD YOU HAVE THIS FOOD?
As you know, breakfast is an essential meal. Your body requires some replenishment after
rejuvenating itself throughout the night, which you ll need to remain active and focused throughout
the day. The best time to eat breakfast is about an hour after you wake up. This will help start your day
off by stimulating your metabolic rate. However, most people aren t that used to keeping this habit. If
you aren t comfortable with this, you should start by eating something that is both light and high in
nutritional value instead of a fuller meal.
The largest meal you consume all day should be eaten at lunch. At this point, your body is full of
digestive enzymes that can quickly metabolize the nutrients you consume. These processes will keep
you active and mentally focused, even if you are eating a lower amount of calories than normal.
Your dinner should be eaten earlier rather than late at night. Try to have a light meal between 5 7pm. If
you tend to sleep a bit later than most and need some sustenance for nighttime, at least eat this meal
with two hours to spare from bedtime. Eating right before you sleep will prevent your digestive
system from doing its job to the fullest

N is 20*2 because it is semi annually then you have to use Kdt= Kd+ (i T) .The tax bracket is 40

Kd ( 1 T) = 0.1249 (1 0.4)= 0.07494. If it is more than $700000 it will be KD (1 t) = 0.18(1 0.4) =

Part D
The O Grady Apparel Company wanted to see the effects of a more highly levered capital structure on
their ability to take on potential investments. The break points for this highly levered capital structure
consisting of 50 percent long term debt, 10 percent preferred equity, and 40 percent common equity
are calculated in very much the same way as the break points from part B involving the original
capital structure. The only difference between the two calculations is that the reinvested profits of
1,300,000 and the $700,000 in additional debt were calculated over the new structure values. The
resulting breakpoints are $3,250,000 for common equity and $1,400,000 for long term debt (see
exhibit 4a).
The highly levered capital structure had a significant effect on the findings of sections B and C. First
of all, the ranges which resulted from the new calculation of the break points caused the weighted
average cost of capital (WACC) at all range levels to drop. The WACC is calculated by multiplying
the weights of the capital structure by the costs of

Personality Assessment Of Carl G. Jung And Isabel Briggs...
Personality Assessment Paper After completing the assignment for this week, I found that I am of the
introverted, sensing, thinking, and perceiving (ISTP) personality type. This personality type from the
work of Carl G. Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers more commonly known as the Myers Briggs type
indicator suggest a few factors in my personality. The first of these is introversion. Even though this is
often thought of as being a quite type or wallflower, the picture is incomplete. Introversion from
MBIT means dealing with ideas and reacting to those ideas in one s own mind. For the introverted the
large group is less desirable then working alone or with a handful of people they fell comfortable
around. The second marker of the ISTP is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Identifying strength and weakness in any individual is just that, an individual thought. Because people
with an ISTP personality type are drawn toward the action, tuned in to their environment and prefer to
be hands on, there strengths can be ambiguous. Among these preferences in my personality I have
identified three distinct strengths. The first of these strengths is a natural ability to focus on the
surrounding environment. This connection in day to day physical tasks makes athletics and
coordination between mind and body a relatively easy function. The second trait identifiable in me is
the way I interpret information. With an ability to fond connections between cause and effect, and then
apply logic to decode new information the world becomes less of a mystery and can be explained
through this strength. The third and most prominent strength is in problem solving. Delineating from
other natural talents of observation and focus, getting to the root of a problem is often very easy. This
is especially true when faced with a crisis or emergency situation and taking steps to mitigate the
problem is the most important priority. After selecting two other personality types and identifying
there top three strength it is clear that there are some striking dissimilarities in both the exact opposite
of an ISTP personality which is a (ENFJ) and even types with similarities like the (ESFP). The
extrovert, intuitive, felling, judging type has

Factors And The Effects Of Moving To A New Country
Effects of Moving to a New Country
Moving to a new country can allow people to gain a lot of experience as well as allows people to gain
knowledge about different cultures and traditions. Also several teenagers, who live far away from their
family would or may struggle from moving to a new country because they may feel distant from their
family but in most cases, a teenager moving to a new country will make them more independent and
exposes them to new traditions and cultures. Moving to a new country is generally a rare opportunity
that people should trust appreciate and try to gain everything they can from moving. However, living
in a foreign country can have a huge effect on a person because certain aspects of the country such as;
learning a new language, respect for others and career growth may effect someone.
Once someone moves to a new country, they become exposed to a new culture and will begin to
respect and (maybe) practice the traditions of a country. But the main effect of moving to a new
country is learning a new language. Most countries have their own language and is spoken ... Show

DISCUSSION
The data presented in the study showed trends in antibiotic resistance patterns of methicillin resistant
and methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus in KYAMCH at Enayetpur, Sirajgonj, teaching and
referral hospital of Bangladesh.
Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the major pathogens associated with
community acquired serious nosocomial infection because these strains generally show multiple drug
resistance which limits treatment possibilities (7).
In this study, the isolation rate of MRSA on gender basis revealed more from male (54.5%) than
female (45.5%). Persons younger than 30 years of age were found to be more MRSA carrier 112
(23%) and less found among below 10 years of age 50 (10%) (Figure 2). Our age and gender based
findings did not agree with those findings obtained by other studies where no significant variations
were noticed. (8). Population of this study is villagers of working group (30 years) who are financially
important. Through medical care they became subject of this study. On the contrary, other studies are
carried out in the city where all residents irrespective of gender and age are equally receiving medical
care.
In our study, the highest number of Staphylococcus aureus isolates were from throat swab samples
104 (49.5%) followed by pus 44 (20.9%) (Figure 5 a). Similar study of Tamilnadu in India as high as
35.7% of MRSA strains were obtained from throat swabs and 33.6% of strains were

Mean Men Case Study
CHAPTER FOUR The Mainstreaming of Mean Mean men are hardly a new phenomenon, and the
tyrannical boss has been a familiar archetype in American culture ever since the invention of the
modern industrial era workplace. In fact, in many ways organizational culture is far more touchy feely
now than it used to be much as corporeal punishment in schools is out, along with spanking your kids.
Yet powerful forces have been at work in American society that have fueled bad behavior in high
places, allowing more mean men to get to the top and stay there, even as they create misery all around
them. These forces can be roughly divided in two baskets: first, thanks to changes in the economy and
business, men can rise to leadership roles without having to pay their dues in large organizations and
having their rough edges sanded down along the way. Second, thanks to a combination of economic
and cultural changes, men feel more license to exhibit outsized personality traits, including very
negative ones, and can more easily get away with bad behavior as long as they get results. Let s dig
into the both these baskets. Free Agent Nation It s unlikely that a guy like Aaron could ever have

James Berger s After The End
Reading Response on James Berger s monograph After the End James Berger s After the End:
Representations of Post Apocalypse gives a detailed and broad overview of specific representations of
post apocalypses in American culture. In the three parts of the book, Berger focuses on the
problematic of post apocalyptic representation, representations of the Holocaust and post apocalyptic
phenomena in recent American culture. In the first part, he examines post apocalyptic representation
as a paradoxical, oxymoronic discourse (19) and connects apocalypse with the idea of trauma,
describing these post apocalyptic representations as symptoms of historical trauma. Additional, he
includes the figures of the angel and the survivor in his analysis as post traumatic [and] post

He uses two novels to better interpret how the traumas of the holocaust are anchored in western
societies and to depict how the end would look like, namely like apocalypses that already occurred. In
the third part, Berger turns to more recent post apocalyptic phenomena of American culture, analyzing
Reaganism as the most conspicuous and politically powerful instance of [...] American post
apocalypticism (134). Reaganism sees America as an already achieved utopia, meaning the apocalypse
has already happened and therefore also traumas were generated, which were largely disavowed.
However, Berger puts the 1960s in contrast to Reaganism as apocalyptic because of their critique of
American history (cf. 140) and additional depicts the social disintegration of this period as its main
trauma (156). The analysis of two post apocalyptic novels concerning their historical traumas
underlines his findings of the third part and give evidence of, nostalgia, the repetition of traumas and
social movements. In the epilogue, Berger finally concludes that the process of rebuilding traumas
continues in American post apocalyptic culture and

Persuasive Essay On Crosswalks
Summary
Since moving into the neighborhood about seven months ago, there are a lot of activities for the
residents to partake in. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger
children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes at the
end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One thing missing
in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and more. What I am
proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents are safe when
crossing the road.
Problem
A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to where
the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to different
activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The problem is
when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the road. Currently
there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a major safety
concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due to the school bus
dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Also, as this being unsafe for residents this is
also an unsafe condition for others such as, the families of residents, maintenance workers, delivery
drivers, etc. However,

Medieval European Horses Vs Medieval Horse Essay
Medieval Europe and Shogunate Japan were very different but similar in many ways too. The
Shogunate period lasted longer then the Medieval period by approximately 170 years. We know that
many different things played a huge role in the day to day life of each period. Horses were very
important and played a big part in the transport and war of each period but in different ways.
Horses were not only used to get people from place to place in Europe there were many different uses
for horses. In medieval Europe there was 3 main types of horses the Destrier, the Palfrey and the
Courser they all had their own purpose and uses. Destrier means war horse so these horses were used
in the wars. They were very expensive and only the rich could afford them. They had a short neck and
a strong back so they could carry the knights around. The Palfrey was a smaller horse used for
everyday riding and especially ridden by women. They were also used for carrying messages. Well

Essay about Traveling Through the Dark by William Stafford
Traveling Through the Dark by William Stafford
In his poem, Traveling Through the Dark, William Stafford presents the reader with the difficulty of
one man s choice. Immediately, the scene is set, with the driver, who is traveling though the dark (line
1) coming upon a recently killed deer. At first, his decision with what to do with the deer is easy; he
knows he must push it off the edge for the safety of other motorists, but then, a closer examination of
the deer reveals to the man new circumstances. His decision is now perplexing, and his course of
action is unclear. Through his use of metaphor, symbolism, and personification, Stafford alludes to the
difficult decisions that occur along the road of life, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The deceased deer is what forces the man to stop along the road, and death in general is what causes
humans to stop along their path and take time to make decisions.
One main way the theme of death is illustrated is through symbolism of the deer, canyon, and river.
The deer is a roadblock which must be dealt with before the man can continue on his journey. He
cannot simply push death to the side of the road. Here, the deer would rot and fester; instead, as
Stafford states in the first stanza, it is usually best to roll them into the canyon (line 3). The way to
deal with this problem is to discard of it immediately and to not hesitate at all. Literally, this is true for
the safety of other motorists. Furthermore, it is necessary to deal properly with this problem so one
can continue on their path in life. The canyon, and river at the bottom, therefore come to symbolize
the depth of our individual souls; we push problems into our souls, and slowly deal with them. By
doing this, our problems and death, may be symbolically washed away.
Another way the decisions made when stopping along the road of life are symbolized is through
Stafford?s use of the double entendre swerving (lines 4, 17). Literally, when explaining why the man
should move the deer, Stafford writes, to swerve [in a car] might make more dead (line 4). This also
refers to a swerve in

The Role Of Atrocity In The Film Th How
There is a huge difference between the cause of atrocity and atrocity itself. The cause of atrocity
usually comes from different pursuits of harm or anger, in all shapes and forms. Atrocity can be found
in different religions or countries. In other words atrocity has been shown from the British in 1840 s
when the British government decided that cheaper goods was more valuable than feeding its comrades
in Ireland. The Germans have displayed atrocity in the 1940 s when Adolf Hitler s political party rose
to power, also known as Nazis. The most specific example of Atrocity can be displayed when Hitler
order the final solution to be carried out by his first hand and loyal friend Heinrich Himmler. There is
no doubt that atrocity comes from certain individuals or entire government.
Pursuing a political position should be beyond our own agenda, it should be from a natural stance of
understanding life and an entire nation. After all, a look at what certain individuals did when they were
part of political party and before it; is just amazing the vast changes that can be seen. However, to
have too much pride for the growth of one specific population is a horrible mentality. But that didn t

very crucial concept that I never took much thought on. It was trouble involved in transferring/moving

The example she gave was the movement of phosphorus to farmlands that causes run off. Thereby, it

In 1939, the British Royal Air Force developed an identify friend or foe transponder that could
interpret received radar signals to distinguish friendly aircraft. This was the first example of a device
that could automatically and remotely identify itself to another device. RFID worked on the same
basic principle: A signal was sent to a transponder which either reflected back a signal (passive
system) or broadcast a signal (active system). Research and development in radar and radio frequency
communication systems continued through the 1950s and 1960s. In 1973, an American entrepreneur
was awarded a patent for a passive transponder used to unlock a door without a key. When a card with
an embedded transponder communicated a signal to a reader near the door, the reader detected a valid
identity number stored within the RFID tag and unlocked the door. A similar idea, an automated toll
payment system, was commercialized in the mid 1980s. By 2005, the use of RFID had expanded.
Many companies used RFID tags in employee badges. Several prisons in the United States used RFID
tags to track prisoners. In 2004, Boston Marathon participants shoe laces contained RFID tags to track
and accurately time the runners and to share their progress with spectators. The American Express

Jack Kerouac’s On The Road
Impact of Dean on Sal s Identity in On the Road
In part I, chapter 3 of Jack Kerouac s On the Road, Sal arrives at Des Moines and checks into a cheap,
dirty motel room. He sleeps all day and awakens in time to witness the setting sun. As he looks around
the unfamiliar room, Sal realizes that he doesn t understand his own identity. Identity lost, he states I
was half way across America, at the dividing line between the East of my youth and the West of my
future. He has lost the calming influence of his aunt, and Dean and partners are not around to feed his
wild streak. The only clues to his identity are to be found in the strange motel room. This appeal to
emotion gives the reader personal hints to identify with.

Without exception, it changes every time he encounters new circumstances and surroundings. On the
way to visit Old Bull Lee in New Orleans during part II, chapter 6, Sal is driving while Dean and
Mary Lou are asleep. He is alone with time to think to himself, and he does not know what he is doing
or where he is going. The style of the passage intrigues the reader; All alone in the night I had my own
thoughts and held the car to the white line in the holy road. Dean is no longer mentally present to lead
him and feed his identity. Sal has no one to show him the way and he is forced to cling to his physical
surroundings for comfort. His entire existence centers around following the straight line in the road. In
chapter 7, after the stay with Old Bull, Dean is ready to leave and hit the road again. Sal is compelled
to go with him although he would really like to stay with Bull awhile. Again, Kerouac uses emotion to
move the reader, because most people have been torn between following one of two friends at some
point.
In chapter 8 of part two, Dean steals gas and oil as Sal runs into the station and takes bread and cheese
while the owners are in back eating dinner. Sal seems to be adapting his personality to that of Dean s.
Earlier in the novel, when Montana Slim asks him to steal from strangers in alley ways, Sal doesn t
seem to want anything to do with it. This schizophrenic behavior appears throughout the book,
prohibiting one from understanding who Sal is

The World Is Flat by Thomas Friedman
The book, The World is Flat, by Thomas Friedman draws attention to some very good points
concerning globalization and the world economy today. Friedman emphasizes the status of America
today in relation to the other countries of the world. As I looked at the things in which he warned
about or highlighted, I realized the importance of this issue. He talks about a few aspects in which
need to be kept competitive in order for America to retain their current standing in the world market.
First of all, Friedman talks about the different levels of globalization. There are 3 different time
periods in which the society has differed and changed, bringing us to where we are today.
Globalization 1.0, which took place from 1492 to 1800, was the ... Show more content on

This is the area in which I think Friedman s theory is slightly flawed. He seems to say that there was
almost no sort of international communication, relation, or business before the discovery of the new
world.
Following globalization 1.0 came 2.0. This was the time from 1800 to 2000. There were many
advances in this period that drastically changed the world in which we live today. Communication,
transportation, and growing trade markets influenced and brought us to multinational companies,
which greatly shrunk the world down to yet another smaller size.
Today, we are in the globalization 3.0 phase, in which communication (mostly through the Internet)
and transportation are at a level in which distance hardly poses any problem at all. Another very large
issue in this era is the concept of outsourcing. This is the idea that if an item can be produced more
cheaply outside of the company/region, it will be. The market will go to the cheapest source of
production.
Many of the countries or cultures that have been transformed by the flattening of the world have been
affected because of their upper hand through education. We as Americans have gotten used to being
elite over the years due to our high economic standing and educational excellence, but in recent years,
the educational agenda has increased in other countries, while America s education has seemed to
decline. This is an area in which we need to

Human Trafficking in Our Own Backyard
Human trafficking is an important problem in world politics that is not currently receiving the
attention that it should. This is a terrible practice that involves the exploitation of workers, violation of
human rights, and the encroachment onto the body when human trafficking turns sexual.
Human trafficking is a huge issue that much is still unknown about. When we think of this practice we
often think of the issue that only occurs overseas in poverty stricken nations however this practice is
very prevalent in our own backyards. And this is one of the biggest myths itself: trafficking does not
always require the passage of transnational borders to be considered trafficking. Recently this issue
has stepped more into the public eye when a sex trafficking scandal was exposed before the super
bowl only two weeks ago. A fox article reported that children as young as 13 were missing and
rescued by law enforcement as pimps had brought these children to New Jersey with the intent of
selling their sexual services for money to tourists. In fact it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of
children are at risk in the United States for this kind of exploitation. These statistics are extremely
hard to estimate however because unfortunately, so many human trafficking cases still proceed
without consequence. (Polaris project). It is also important to realize that trafficking occurs in many
countries and not just to women or children. However the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

Black Hole Research Paper
Black Holes A simple star with low fuel turns into a strong, powerful black hole in space with 4 times
more mass than the sun. Discovered in 1916 by Albert Einstein, a black hole is an area of space time
showing very strong effects, that nothing can escape from the black hole. Space time is the belief that
there is no time in space, so there is no aging or time whatsoever. There are three different types of
black holes. Stellar mass, supermassive, and intermediate. All three are very strong, but the
supermassive is currently the strongest reported. Not all black holes are large, but extremely powerful.
The supermassive black holes are the biggest type of black hole and most of the time are found in the
center of massive galaxies. Stellar mass black holes are formed by a star collapsing. Intermediate
black holes are stronger than stellar mass black holes, but weaker than supermassive. Supermassive is
the least common black hole there is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When the hole is forming, dust and gas is collected from the galaxy surrounding the black hole. Light
cannot be released because matter is squeezed together in a small space. Stellar black holes are small
but dense and can have 20 times more mass than the sun. Mass is the property of a physical body.
When a black hole is forming it is possible for mass to be pulled from stars around the whole. This

Robert Nozick s Essay Coercion
In this essay i will argue that what is bad about Coercion is that it motivates the Coercer to act badly. I
will divide this essay into two sections, the first section (§ 1) being an explanatory section on
coercion, and the second (§2) an investigation into what is bad about coercion.
In (§1) I will give a brief historical account of coercion, and outline why it is seen as a issue worth
conceptualising. I will then present an account of coercion closely drawn from Robert Nozick that
holds the issuing of a conditional threat (CT) essential to coercion.
§2 will be concerned with answering what is bad about coercion? . I will understand this question s
aim to be identifying what aspect of coercion provides its wrongfulness.
In order to do this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In §2a) I will consider two views on what is bad about wrongful coercion. The first being that it
restricts autonomy, and the second that it is wrong as a result of the fear it induces. After presenting
each view i will debate what i believe to be an unresolvable issue that arises from attributing the
wrongfulness of coercion to either fear or autonomy. In §2b) I will then go onto argue that what makes
coercion bad is the increased likelihood of the Coercer carrying out the wrongful action he has
threatened the Coercee with.
§2a i)Raz stated that to reduce the autonomy the desirable options that were available to an agent must
be reduced. In an instance of coercion the Coercer makes a CT in order to reduce the desirability of a
particular choice in order to get him to choose a different action. For example if someone was to stand
inside a shop and say If you buy a chocolate bar, i am going to shoot you . They would be reducing the
autonomy of people visiting the shop by reducing the desirability of buying a chocolate bar. With this
conception of autonomy it is clear that in an instance of coercion autonomy is

Descriptive Approaches In International Relations
From a conceptual point of view, discourse analysis in international relations has outlined a common
set of standards for the other fields of language and social sciences. Discourse is a rather new field of
analysis in the world of social research, and it does not yet have a precise and compact theoretical
body. Accordingly, discourse analysis has to rely on the practices and concepts taken from other fields
such as sociology, semantics, psychology, linguistics etc. Due to its vast source of knowledge,
discourse has analytical richness in its field. In the study of international relations, three types of
discursive approaches are considered, which are descriptive approaches, autonomous approaches, and
functionalist approaches. Autonomous approaches have no established relations with each other, but
separately they provide a significant contribution to the study of discourse (Obeng and Hartford). The
descriptive analysis approaches are a set of explanatory perspectives that are based on language and
relevant fields. This method includes a grammatical style, which is concerned with understanding how
words and sentences are formed. The descriptive method can be subdivided into three different
practices of grammar and linguistics, which are Morphology, phonology, and syntax. A descriptive
methodology is a stylistic approach to grammar that is mainly used in poetry. This approach aids
discourse analysis by specifying the suitability of a particular discourse to a specific

There are also questions on whether the command will assist in civilian cyber protection strives.
According to William J. Lynn who is the Deputy Secretary of Defense, the command Will control all

executive could expand Cyber Command s spectrum of operations to include , such services as
helping the Department of Homeland Security in the enforcement of cyber security .(Vaseashta, A.,
Susann, P., Barman, E. Cyber security and resiliency policy framework.)
Some army seniors claim that the cultures of the Army currently in place, Navy, and Air Force are can

the fourth branch of the military. In reaction to complains about the military s freedom to tackle to

Motivational Theories Of SAS And Grenada Co-Op Bank
Both SAS and Grenada Co operative Bank use a combination of motivational theories to motivate
their staff. SAS applies principles from both Maslow s Hierarchy of needs and Hertzberg s theory.
SAS like Co op Bank provides a combination of monetary and monetary rewards. Employees of SAS
view supporting services such as daycare and gym facilities as kind gestures that keep them close to
their families. Linder Clover, Director of A D of SAS remarked that she can take her daughter to lunch
every day without having to encounter the inconvenience of leaving her job (Why SAS is the best
place to work, 2010). The daycare is located on the premises of the company which allows parents the
opportunity to bring their children to work and visit them during the day. Management and employees
at SAS both agree that they are motivated to work. Employees at SAS openly admitted that they
would not leave their job even if another company offers them a better paying one. This could be
because the salary received plus the additional benefits that the company offers (daycare, gym,

Pros And Cons Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is one of the most prosperous industries in the United States. For years, it had
a big impact on the American economy. But with the recession of 2007 2008, consumer spending
decreased and new car sales plunged (Davis, 2012). Big automobile firms like General Motors and
Chrysler were on the verge of bankruptcy (Davis, 2012). Luckily, the American government
intervened to rescue these firms through bailout money (Davis, 2012).
In 2010, the automobile industry in the United States employed more than 1.7 million people and
generated more than 8 million jobs (Menk Cooper, 2010). It is worth noting that the United States
currently houses 13 national and international auto manufacturers: General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, ...

Consumers nowadays make an informed decision before buying a vehicle, they go online, study the
pros and cons, they compare different options, and they make their purchase made on what they want
in terms of cost, size,... Although consumers are concerned about the environment, some of them tend
to buy large vehicles (like SUVs) that emit more air pollution than any other vehicles.
In conclusion, the automobile industry in the United States is a thriving industry. It would need to
move to more eco friendly options in the future to help tackle technology and changes.

Analysis Of Movie And Displaying Modes Of Captions
While viewing Movies
When it comes to while viewing movies, I will analyze and stress such two issues to be implemented:
introduction to the movie and displaying modes of captions. My statements and reviews are as
follows:
Introduction to the movie. Apart from pre teaching a list of new words and phrases in a film, EFL
teachers should give their students a small introduction to the movie just before watching in class.
Some offered this proposal like Bueno (2009), He (Altman, 1989) cautioned that instructors must
provide background information when film genres do not include explicit information regarding the
systems of culture and thus the nonnative viewer lacks the cultural context needed to interpret a scene
(p. 320). EFL teachers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise, EFL teachers can create some class tasks to inform their students of what the movie is
about before watching. Knowing the meaning and importance of the movie, students will pay more
attention to the movie they will watch later. A range of class tasks can be designed such as class
surveys, problem resolution, video title discussion, brainstorming, consideration of a film summary,
information gap exercises, semantic mapping, and dictionary consultation (Stempleski Arcario, 1993,
p. 28 30). According to Wang and Liu (2011), Before the movie watching, brainstorming the students
with words according to their subject, this would diverse their thinking, activate their vocabulary
schema, and compensate each other (p. 44). In another aspect, Bueno (2009) suggested instructors
(should) utilize an overarching question that set the theme for interpreting the films to be viewed and
discussed (p. 323). Concerning the questions, Wang and Liu (2011) explained, The questions may be
about the whole movie or just about the details, leading students to appreciate the movie with
purposes, capture meaningful information and exchange their ideas (p. 44). Judith (2001) in the study
showed how to inform students of post viewing tasks before watching by giving an example, (before
showing) a video that shows the trials of asking someone out on a date, (tell students to)

Stereotyping Stereotypes
When we use stereotypes, we are criticizing someone, for example, when we say all police officers are
corrupt, all men who aren t into sports are gay or all blonde women are dumb. Stereotyping is a result
of incompetence on distorted information accepted as a fact without question. A stereotype is simply a
widely held belief that an individual is a member of a certain group based upon characteristics.
Stereotyping can be positive, for example, all Blacks are good at sports, all Asians are good at math or
French people are romantic. Stereotypes can also help identify how to interact with each other, for
example Canadians are exceptionally polite. Either way stereotyping is morally wrong and
judgmental. If your group is positively stereotyped in an area, then you can endure a lot more
frustration and difficultly before you assume or infer that you don t belong in that domain (Steele,
2010). This paper will focus on the origin of stereotyping, how stereotypes affect judgement and
behavior and will explore profiling versus stereotyping.
Stereotyping is defined as an oversimplified, usually pejorative, attitude people hold toward those
outside one s own experience who are different. They are a result of incomplete or distorted
information accepted as fact without question. A stereotype is simply a widely held belief that an
individual is a member of a certain group based on characteristics. Due to the process of
overgeneralization within social perception, stereotyping leads to a great deal of inaccuracy in social
perception (Chandler, n.d.). ##My stance is## Stereotyping is always morally wrong and judgmental.
How you reach your opinion of others makes it morally wrong, when you encounter someone for the
first time you should not have a prejudged notion of that person, first impressions should always start
from zero. The most ethical place to begin is to acknowledge that you have biases and stereotypes and
once your interaction starts then place them accordingly. Stereotyping is a mental shortcut and this isn
t always negative although we should be aware that we all harmlessly do it and must always be
conscious of it.
As humans, we want to associate quickly for instance, tiger, danger, don t

How Nurses Administer Medications Safely Or How Existing...
Summary of the Study This research study is about how nurses administer medications safely or how
existing systems facilitate / hinder the medication administration, which has missed the opportunity
for the implementation of practical, effective, and low cost approach to optimize safety. The purpose
of the study is to pinpoint factors that facilitate and/or hinder successful medication administration,
which targets on three integral parts: nurse practices and workarounds, medication administration
workflow, and nature of interruptions and distractions during medication administration. In effect, the
findings showed three interrelated themes that facilitated successful medication administration in
some situations, but also acted as barriers in others. These interrelated themes include (1) system
configurations and features, (2) Behavior types among nurses, and (3) patient interactions. Some
system configuration and features acted as physical pressure for parts of the drug round, however,
some system effects were partly dependent on nurses inherent behavior, which were grouped as: task
focus and patient interaction focused . The task focus is a more organized workflow with fewer
interruptions, while patient interaction focused empowers patients to act as a defense barrier against
medication errors by being an active resource of information, a passive resource of information,
and/or a double checker . Thus, researchers concluded that in order to reduce

  • 2. Computers And Other Types Of Electronics For ages the question has been debated, to what do humans owe our thinking abilities and can computers and other types of electronics have the capacity to think? Over millions of years humans have developed the capacity to think critically and to have higher intelligent thinking than other animals. The human brain has evolved to have a prefrontal cortex which is responsible for executive functioning. These functions include responding to complex problems, maintaining a set behavior, planning, problem solving, judging a situation, and making good, intellectual choices. With developments such as these higher functions, humans have the ability to fully comprehend situations with their minds, and can act at their own free will to make choices, unlike computers. Computers must be acted upon in order to think or to search for an answer. Computers are an invention created by man. They must be programmed to something, they do not exist or act without the assistance of man. Since computers are not able to think on their own and must be programmed by man, a computer should not be considered to know how to think. Thinking is complex in that it requires you to ponder a choice and for you to comprehend and analyze it to make a final decision. To think is to contemplate various scenarios and situations and reason. In order to think you must have an initial thought or idea that was triggered by some type of stimuli. To contemplate such stimuli you would need a mind or something to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The American Of The British Empire In marked contrast to the monarchy and the dispute about the rights of succession and control over the Spanish Empire, the American colonies sought independence from the British monarchy and government. The Americans wanted a completely new government, without a King or any form of monarchy. While the Spanish crisis was one of leadership, connection to other empires, a desire to avoid partition. The American crisis in government came about through the actions of the King, and the colonists questioning the authority of the British Parliament to rule over them. The American colonies served an important role in the British Empire during the first half of the 1700 s. King George III ascended to the throne in 1760, and took control of the empire and its vast territories. The British Constitution provided for the monarchial rule, and two representative bodies the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. None of the British colonies had representation in these houses, and this proved to be the issue with the American colonies. The colonies administration technically fell under the Privy Council and Secretary of State. Parliament made policy regarding the colonies, and defined the economic relationship between England and the colonies. Governors acted locally in the King s name and enforced the laws. The colonies also had their own political institutions in the form of local assemblies, legislatures, and county, city and town governments. Most of the colonies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bariso was initially working here at Stoel Rives mail room from 3pm to 6pm each night after school. With the start of summer, he began working full days from 10am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Bariso entered this full time schedule with much enthusiasm and he even expressed interest in learning other duties and responsibilities so that he may better support the team, and better support Stoel Rives. Bariso took the initiative to improve the process for the Work Room Supply Checklist which he would use when stocking work rooms. He took a basic, confusing excel spreadsheet and enhanced it into a clear and concise check list. We will continue to use this same, edited checklist file. This is only one of many examples of Bariso going above and beyond. In another example, he ran to the post office to make a 2pm cutoff to mail off paperwork related to an important case. Bariso demonstrated a can do attitude and helped us bring resolution to many staff requests, urgent and otherwise. Overall, Bariso has helped my team to raise the bar and improve our level of service. Our Office Services team strives for service excellence, and I m very pleased to say that Bariso adopted our philosophy. • 5. Structure Fire Reducing the Spread of Structure Fires Nameless Abstract This paper gives an overview of just a few of the ways fire companies can help limit the spread of a structure fire. A few factors to take into consideration that are discussed here are ventilation, nozzle type, and time. Along with the ways that these concepts can help reduce the spread of a structure fire are ways that, if used incorrectly or misjudged, can greatly worsen the situation and the behavior of the fire. Reducing the Spread of Structure Fires Structure fires can spread very rapidly if proper precautions are not taken. Fire companies have a variety of actions they can take and many factors to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (West et al. s, 2009, para. 20 51). If PPV is used incorrectly it can cause severely dangerous fire behavior which can result in deaths or injuries to firefighters and civilians. Some common problems that can cause this severe fire behavior are the lack of an exhaust opening, an insufficient exhaust opening size, and a lack of leadership and organization. West et al. s (2009) states that, If PPV is not effective, increased air flow is accompanied with turbulence and resultant mixing of fuel and air which increases the probability of ignition and rapid fire progression (para. 20). Overall, ventilation can be a great way to effectively limit the spread of fires, however, incorrect use can worsen the situation and the fire can become an increased threat to firefighters and civilians. Another thing that can significantly impact and limit the spread of a structure fire is the nozzle type. There are three basic types of nozzle patterns, smooth bore nozzles, fog nozzles, and specialty nozzles. Each of these is very important and has many different uses during a fire. The one most talked about is the fog nozzle. The fog nozzle can provide a number of stream shapes to suit different types of fire situations. Fog nozzles break the water that runs through it into small droplets, which is believed to create more surface area than a solid stream. The water absorbs the heat and turns it into steam which displaces the oxygen and suffocates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What is the role of will power or self control when it comes to infidelity? What motivates our sex drive? What makes it so difficult for men and women to be faithful? Why do people cheat, but then expect or demand their partners to be faithful? Why are some men and women more likely to cheat than others? What can be done to prevent infidelity? How Do People Make the Decision To Cheat? To start with, human sexuality is incredibly complex. Decisions about our sexual behavior are typically not planned in advance. Few people intentionally plan on committing infidelity (at least not the first time it happens). When making promises to be faithful, most people are serious and have every intention of keeping their word. But while people generally have the best intentions when making such promises, human behavior is not always governed by the fact that vows were taken and that promises were made. When it comes to making decisions about love and betrayal, logic and reason have a difficult time competing with our emotions for control. So from time to time, our emotions influence our behavior and lead us down paths we had no intention of traveling. In fact, three separate emotional systems are involved in cheating sexual desire, romantic love, and attachment. And often these distinct emotional systems pull people in different directions The movie, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Joy Luck Club Lost in Translation Amy Tan said in the People Magazine in 1989 about her novel, The Joy Luck Club, The book could be about any culture or generation and what is lost between them. Amy Tan reveals that the mothers try to pass on their Chinese heritage and teach their American born daughters to avoid the mistakes the mothers made growing up in China. However, the daughters often see their mothers attempts at guidance as attempting to control their lives. The mother and daughter pair of Lindo and Waverly epitomize this relationship, where Lindo tries to integrate Chinese and American cultures into her own life and Waverly tries to both be independent and keep her Chinese heritage. Although Waverly and Lindo do not mend their cultural conflicts completely, their experiences with one another allow them to change and accept one another. Lindo and Waverly are two women who experienced very different childhoods, where the society and cultures of China and America pushed them in separate directions. Lindo grew up in China, where family is the single most important priority. At the young age of two, she is promised to the Huangs son for marriage (51) by her parents through a matchmaker. • 12. Themes Of Japan s Indigenous Religion THEMES Japan s indigenous religion is Shintō, and its customs are enmeshed in Japanese culture. It is animistic, seeing gods and spirits in everything. This leads to a deep respect for human harmony with the environment. Many Ghibli films contain jinja, or shrines, and torii, or sacred gates, which are used to pay respect or give offerings in Shintōism. Ghibli films also contain kami, spirits that reside in all things. Princess Mononoke is filled with a kami (Odell 28). Other Japanese mythology is seen through Miyazaki films through spirits that have the ability to transform their shape, such as the foxes and raccoons in Pom Poko. Buddhism also influences Miyazaki films. Dragons derive from Buddhist legends and are in Spirited Away. Buddhist statues are also seen in My Neighbor Totoro, and Pom Poko (Odell 28). All of his movies contain variations of spirits, demons, or fantastical creatures rooted in nature. There is a balance of empathy through his human elements, but mystery in his fantasy elements. One major theme that runs through all Miyazaki films is environmentalism, or how mankind interacts with nature. This is closely linked with the Shintō ethic that sees the environment as interconnected beings that deserve respect. In Princess Mononoke, the center of the plot is focused on the conflict between humans destroying the forest and the gods and spirits who are fighting back. Emotion Vs Intellect In Lord Of The Flies It is certain that the essence of good literature lies within the tension between emotion and intellect, yet the way authors choose to deal with the balance of this tension is what makes great literature. Throughout completely different genres of literature, Lord of The Flies, Whiplash and Life of Pi expose to us how emotion and intellect are concomitant, forcing us to consider how the essence of great literature is created by the way the author chooses to intentionally create an imbalance of tension between emotion and intellect. In Lord of The Flies, we are able to experience the essence of great literature through the external conflict between the two groups of survivors. We are forced to question the consequences of making decisions based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Whiplash, the character of Andrew is developed as we experience the tension between emotion and intellect within him diminish throughout the film, as his emotions quickly consume him; forcing him to make decisions based upon emotion alone. At the beginning of the film, Andrew s choice to practice his drumming is based collectively upon emotion and intellect as he wishes to be remembered as one of the greats, knowing that practising is the only way to be so. However, from the middle of the film onwards, we experience Andrew s decisions become based entirely upon his emotions. Andrew quickly becomes consumed by them, putting his success as a musician ahead of his own well being. Even after being seriously injured in a car crash, he runs to Lincoln Centre to play a concert saying, Look, sorry I m late, but uh... I m here, I m ready to go . This is similar to the character of Pi in Life of Pi. At the beginning of the film, Pi s decisions are based collectively upon emotion and intellect as he says I will not die. I refuse it. Information gathering techniques are the core of systems analysis. According to Valacich At the outset, you must collect information about the information systems that are currently in use. You need to find out how users would like to improve the current systems and organizational operations with new or replacement information systems. (p. 126). The first information gathering technique would be individual interviews. Each interview should be well planned out. It should be scheduled when the interviewee has time and the intention of the interview should be explained beforehand. An interview guide or checklist should be created for each interview. During the interview ask both open ended and close ended questions, listen closely to what the interviewee has to say, and take notes during the interview. Interview a wide range of personnel from everyday users to management. Another information gathering technique is directly observetion of the users in the current HR system. By observing users using the current system different issues with the system can be seen that may have been missed in an interview. • 15. The Law Of Property Act 1925 The law in relation to co ownership interests in property has changed a vast amount in recent years. This has resulted in both changes in the legislative framework surrounding co ownership; the development of the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA) , also due to the increase in occurrence of co ownership many practical problems have been revealed which the Law of Property Act 1925 simply did not clearly provide for. Additionally, changes within the society and economic influences have triggered many problems on the path towards property ownership. The Law of Property Act 1925 (LPA), established the original scheme of co ownership, however it was incapable of dealing with this change in time. In this scenario, a considerable amount depends on whether Emma owns a share in the house or, in other words whether she has a proprietary interest in it. If Emma is able to establish that she has this interest then she may be able entitled to a share within the property. When the property was purchased it was done so in David s name. The purchase is by mortgage and by cash deposit. David has paid the entire cash deposit, as he is the sole legal owner of the property as well as this, the mortgage is made with him. Aforementioned, the title is registered in his name alone and there is no express declaration of trust in writing in favour of Emma. As you know, breakfast is an essential meal. Your body requires some replenishment after rejuvenating itself throughout the night, which you ll need to remain active and focused throughout the day. The best time to eat breakfast is about an hour after you wake up. This will help start your day off by stimulating your metabolic rate. However, most people aren t that used to keeping this habit. If you aren t comfortable with this, you should start by eating something that is both light and high in nutritional value instead of a fuller meal. The largest meal you consume all day should be eaten at lunch. At this point, your body is full of digestive enzymes that can quickly metabolize the nutrients you consume. These processes will keep you active and mentally focused, even if you are eating a lower amount of calories than normal. Your dinner should be eaten earlier rather than late at night. The break points for this highly levered capital structure consisting of 50 percent long term debt, 10 percent preferred equity, and 40 percent common equity are calculated in very much the same way as the break points from part B involving the original capital structure. The only difference between the two calculations is that the reinvested profits of 1,300,000 and the $700,000 in additional debt were calculated over the new structure values. The resulting breakpoints are $3,250,000 for common equity and $1,400,000 for long term debt (see exhibit 4a). The highly levered capital structure had a significant effect on the findings of sections B and C. The first of these is introversion. Even though this is often thought of as being a quite type or wallflower, the picture is incomplete. Because people with an ISTP personality type are drawn toward the action, tuned in to their environment and prefer to be hands on, there strengths can be ambiguous. Among these preferences in my personality I have identified three distinct strengths. The first of these strengths is a natural ability to focus on the surrounding environment. This connection in day to day physical tasks makes athletics and coordination between mind and body a relatively easy function. The second trait identifiable in me is the way I interpret information. With an ability to fond connections between cause and effect, and then apply logic to decode new information the world becomes less of a mystery and can be explained through this strength. The third and most prominent strength is in problem solving. Delineating from other natural talents of observation and focus, getting to the root of a problem is often very easy. This is especially true when faced with a crisis or emergency situation and taking steps to mitigate the problem is the most important priority. Mean Men Case Study CHAPTER FOUR The Mainstreaming of Mean Mean men are hardly a new phenomenon, and the tyrannical boss has been a familiar archetype in American culture ever since the invention of the modern industrial era workplace. In fact, in many ways organizational culture is far more touchy feely now than it used to be much as corporeal punishment in schools is out, along with spanking your kids. Yet powerful forces have been at work in American society that have fueled bad behavior in high places, allowing more mean men to get to the top and stay there, even as they create misery all around them. These forces can be roughly divided in two baskets: first, thanks to changes in the economy and business, men can rise to leadership roles without having to pay their dues in large organizations and having their rough edges sanded down along the way. Second, thanks to a combination of economic and cultural changes, men feel more license to exhibit outsized personality traits, including very negative ones, and can more easily get away with bad behavior as long as they get results. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes at the end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One thing missing in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and more. What I am proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents are safe when crossing the road. Problem A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to where the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to different activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The problem is when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the road. Currently there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a major safety concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due to the school bus dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Immediately, the scene is set, with the driver, who is traveling though the dark (line 1) coming upon a recently killed deer. At first, his decision with what to do with the deer is easy; he knows he must push it off the edge for the safety of other motorists, but then, a closer examination of the deer reveals to the man new circumstances. His decision is now perplexing, and his course of action is unclear. The deceased deer is what forces the man to stop along the road, and death in general is what causes humans to stop along their path and take time to make decisions. One main way the theme of death is illustrated is through symbolism of the deer, canyon, and river. The deer is a roadblock which must be dealt with before the man can continue on his journey. He cannot simply push death to the side of the road. Here, the deer would rot and fester; instead, as Stafford states in the first stanza, it is usually best to roll them into the canyon (line 3). The way to deal with this problem is to discard of it immediately and to not hesitate at all. Literally, this is true for the safety of other motorists. Furthermore, it is necessary to deal properly with this problem so one can continue on their path in life. The canyon, and river at the bottom, therefore come to symbolize the depth of our individual souls; we push problems into our souls, and slowly deal with them. By doing this, our problems and death, may be symbolically washed away. Another way the decisions made when stopping along the road of life are symbolized is through Stafford?s use of the double entendre swerving (lines 4, 17). Literally, when explaining why the man should move the deer, Stafford writes, to swerve [in a car] might make more dead (line 4). This also refers to a swerve in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The cause of atrocity usually comes from different pursuits of harm or anger, in all shapes and forms. Atrocity can be found in different religions or countries. In other words atrocity has been shown from the British in 1840 s when the British government decided that cheaper goods was more valuable than feeding its comrades in Ireland. The Germans have displayed atrocity in the 1940 s when Adolf Hitler s political party rose to power, also known as Nazis. The most specific example of Atrocity can be displayed when Hitler order the final solution to be carried out by his first hand and loyal friend Heinrich Himmler. There is no doubt that atrocity comes from certain individuals or entire government. Pursuing a political position should be beyond our own agenda, it should be from a natural stance of understanding life and an entire nation. After all, a look at what certain individuals did when they were part of political party and before it; is just amazing the vast changes that can be seen. The example she gave was the movement of phosphorus to farmlands that causes run off. Thereby, it is causing damn to streams and the organisms that live in them. In 1939, the British Royal Air Force developed an identify friend or foe transponder that could interpret received radar signals to distinguish friendly aircraft. This was the first example of a device that could automatically and remotely identify itself to another device. RFID worked on the same basic principle: A signal was sent to a transponder which either reflected back a signal (passive system) or broadcast a signal (active system). Research and development in radar and radio frequency communication systems continued through the 1950s and 1960s. In 1973, an American entrepreneur was awarded a patent for a passive transponder used to unlock a door without a key. When a card with an embedded transponder communicated a signal to a reader near the door, the reader detected a valid identity number stored within the RFID tag and unlocked the door. A similar idea, an automated toll payment system, was commercialized in the mid 1980s. By 2005, the use of RFID had expanded. Many companies used RFID tags in employee badges. Several prisons in the United States used RFID tags to track prisoners. In 2004, Boston Marathon participants shoe laces contained RFID tags to track and accurately time the runners and to share their progress with spectators. The style of the passage intrigues the reader; All alone in the night I had my own thoughts and held the car to the white line in the holy road. Dean is no longer mentally present to lead him and feed his identity. Sal has no one to show him the way and he is forced to cling to his physical surroundings for comfort. Friedman emphasizes the status of America today in relation to the other countries of the world. As I looked at the things in which he warned about or highlighted, I realized the importance of this issue. He talks about a few aspects in which need to be kept competitive in order for America to retain their current standing in the world market. First of all, Friedman talks about the different levels of globalization. There are 3 different time periods in which the society has differed and changed, bringing us to where we are today. He seems to say that there was almost no sort of international communication, relation, or business before the discovery of the new world. Following globalization 1.0 came 2.0. This was the time from 1800 to 2000. There were many advances in this period that drastically changed the world in which we live today. Communication, transportation, and growing trade markets influenced and brought us to multinational companies, which greatly shrunk the world down to yet another smaller size. Today, we are in the globalization 3.0 phase, in which communication (mostly through the Internet) and transportation are at a level in which distance hardly poses any problem at all. Another very large issue in this era is the concept of outsourcing. This is the idea that if an item can be produced more cheaply outside of the company/region, it will be. The market will go to the cheapest source of production. Many of the countries or cultures that have been transformed by the flattening of the world have been affected because of their upper hand through education. This is a terrible practice that involves the exploitation of workers, violation of human rights, and the encroachment onto the body when human trafficking turns sexual. Human trafficking is a huge issue that much is still unknown about. When we think of this practice we often think of the issue that only occurs overseas in poverty stricken nations however this practice is very prevalent in our own backyards. And this is one of the biggest myths itself: trafficking does not always require the passage of transnational borders to be considered trafficking. Recently this issue has stepped more into the public eye when a sex trafficking scandal was exposed before the super bowl only two weeks ago. A fox article reported that children as young as 13 were missing and rescued by law enforcement as pimps had brought these children to New Jersey with the intent of selling their sexual services for money to tourists. In fact it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of children are at risk in the United States for this kind of exploitation. These statistics are extremely hard to estimate however because unfortunately, so many human trafficking cases still proceed without consequence. (Polaris project). Discovered in 1916 by Albert Einstein, a black hole is an area of space time showing very strong effects, that nothing can escape from the black hole. Space time is the belief that there is no time in space, so there is no aging or time whatsoever. There are three different types of black holes. Stellar mass, supermassive, and intermediate. All three are very strong, but the supermassive is currently the strongest reported. Not all black holes are large, but extremely powerful. The supermassive black holes are the biggest type of black hole and most of the time are found in the center of massive galaxies. Stellar mass black holes are formed by a star collapsing. In (§1) I will give a brief historical account of coercion, and outline why it is seen as a issue worth conceptualising. I will then present an account of coercion closely drawn from Robert Nozick that holds the issuing of a conditional threat (CT) essential to coercion. §2 will be concerned with answering what is bad about coercion? . In §2b) I will then go onto argue that what makes coercion bad is the increased likelihood of the Coercer carrying out the wrongful action he has threatened the Coercee with. §2a i)Raz stated that to reduce the autonomy the desirable options that were available to an agent must be reduced. In an instance of coercion the Coercer makes a CT in order to reduce the desirability of a particular choice in order to get him to choose a different action. For example if someone was to stand inside a shop and say If you buy a chocolate bar, i am going to shoot you . • 42. Descriptive Approaches In International Relations From a conceptual point of view, discourse analysis in international relations has outlined a common set of standards for the other fields of language and social sciences. Discourse is a rather new field of analysis in the world of social research, and it does not yet have a precise and compact theoretical body. Accordingly, discourse analysis has to rely on the practices and concepts taken from other fields such as sociology, semantics, psychology, linguistics etc. Due to its vast source of knowledge, discourse has analytical richness in its field. In the study of international relations, three types of discursive approaches are considered, which are descriptive approaches, autonomous approaches, and functionalist approaches. Autonomous approaches have no established relations with each other, but separately they provide a significant contribution to the study of discourse (Obeng and Hartford). The descriptive analysis approaches are a set of explanatory perspectives that are based on language and relevant fields. This method includes a grammatical style, which is concerned with understanding how words and sentences are formed. The descriptive method can be subdivided into three different practices of grammar and linguistics, which are Morphology, phonology, and syntax. Analysis Of Movie And Displaying Modes Of Captions While viewing Movies When it comes to while viewing movies, I will analyze and stress such two issues to be implemented: introduction to the movie and displaying modes of captions. My statements and reviews are as follows: Introduction to the movie. Apart from pre teaching a list of new words and phrases in a film, EFL teachers should give their students a small introduction to the movie just before watching in class. Some offered this proposal like Bueno (2009), He (Altman, 1989) cautioned that instructors must provide background information when film genres do not include explicit information regarding the systems of culture and thus the nonnative viewer lacks the cultural context needed to interpret a scene (p. 320). Stereotyping Stereotypes When we use stereotypes, we are criticizing someone, for example, when we say all police officers are corrupt, all men who aren t into sports are gay or all blonde women are dumb. Stereotyping is a result of incompetence on distorted information accepted as a fact without question. A stereotype is simply a widely held belief that an individual is a member of a certain group based upon characteristics. Stereotyping can be positive, for example, all Blacks are good at sports, all Asians are good at math or French people are romantic. Stereotypes can also help identify how to interact with each other, for example Canadians are exceptionally polite. Either way stereotyping is morally wrong and judgmental. If your group is positively stereotyped in an area, then you can endure a lot more frustration and difficultly before you assume or infer that you don t belong in that domain (Steele, 2010). This paper will focus on the origin of stereotyping, how stereotypes affect judgement and behavior and will explore profiling versus stereotyping. Stereotyping is defined as an oversimplified, usually pejorative, attitude people hold toward those outside one s own experience who are different. They are a result of incomplete or distorted information accepted as fact without question. A stereotype is simply a widely held belief that an individual is a member of a certain group based on characteristics. Due to the process of overgeneralization within social perception, stereotyping leads to a great deal of inaccuracy in social perception (Chandler, n.d.). ##My stance is## Stereotyping is always morally wrong and judgmental. How you reach your opinion of others makes it morally wrong, when you encounter someone for the first time you should not have a prejudged notion of that person, first impressions should always start from zero. The most ethical place to begin is to acknowledge that you have biases and stereotypes and once your interaction starts then place them accordingly.
