The Is A Perpetual Feeling Of Bliss
There was a time where all he knew was a perpetual feeling of bliss. It was a bliss
that is often preceded by a significant amount of ignorance and naivety, accented by
an active denial of suffering. It was because of this that his laughter often rang
louder and more pure than most, his smile more genuine and bright than his peers.
For this, his parents loved him his older siblings adored him. He was their wonder,
their glory, their Lei. The child that nearly wasn t, the child that couldn t be. But,
nevertheless, the Saints saw fit to bless their household with him. Their household
which was a bit too small, filled with one too many children. But, for some reason or

Whenever they would come, with their pristine silks and their shining shoes, his
parents would hide him away. Soon, his siblings turned it into a game, the most
perilous game of hide and seek. They would scatter, like a flock of sheep hunted by
wolves only to reunite once the sun had set and the stars greeted them to let them
know they were safe. But then the day came where the stars lied to them, when the
crows cawed in mockery at their stupidity and the ravenous wolves of the Shu Han
court howled in delight. The corpses of his parents were prostrate upon the doorstep
and, being as young as he one, he could almost almost fool himself into believing that
they were doing nothing more than sleeping. What stifled those silly, childish
beliefs? The scarlet that poured from their wounds. A most necessary of wines that

The new school year is just weeks away. Parents, just a reminder that Illinois has a
new vaccination requirement going into effect this school year. By law, all children

Why it s Important to Vaccinate
Although it has been from a different risk group, the 7th case of meningitis has
recently been discovered in Illinois. It is extremely contagious and spreads through
close contact. The disease is most often spread through respiratory and throat

The Growth Of The World Population
Overview
When considering the growth of the world s population there Is a concentrated look
at Four Main factors with a fifth element now ,slowly becoming a large factor. They
are fertility rates, mortality rates (life expectancy), the initial age profile of the
population (whether it is comparatively old or relatively young to begin with),
migration, and now religion, where focus is placed on migrating to or from a
particular faction.
The forces behind population change
Population Change:A view at Growth
Fertility has been on a slow descent over the last decade and is expected to continue
declining. As a result, the world,s population rate is also slowing down. But from the
year 2010 2050 ,the world s population is expected to rise some 35%.That is
approximately 2 Billion people.Fertility patterns may differ between countries, and
larger geographic locations for a myriad of reasons, including cultural
standards, degrees of economic improvement, education systems and government
policies that encourage ,or discourage, family planning. Female reproductive rates
may also be a result of infant fatality rates, participation in the labor market, income
levels and social status, among other factors.( Main Factors Driving Population
Growth | Pew Research Center, 2015)
Life Expectancy, which is the expected life term we are given from infancy, has been
on the up rise, and is expected to continue its ascent over the next four
decades.Research has shown that people are living longer, due
Why Is Shakespeare Relevant Today
While many high school students believe Shakespeare is not relevant today, I
believe Shakespeare and his writings are relevant because they are a good influence
and they bring people and countries closer together while expanding the reader s
vocabulary.
Shakespeare is relevant because his writings are a good influence, especially to the
prisoners at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex. At the prison, Gene Vaughn
and twenty three other inmates re enacted Shakespeare s popular play, Merchant of
Venice. Some of the prisoners did not like the idea of acting in Shakespeare s play,
and were sent to solitude or were given other punishments, but many of them were
positively impacted by their performances. Positively impacted cast member Jerry

Iraq, a country with none stop wars, is re enacting the most famous Shakespeare
play, Romeo and Juliet. The two main points in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
are family and love, but [their] play focuses less on their romance and more on
how families, communities and nations can easily and quickly be torn apart.
(Janmohamed 2). According to Janmohamed, [it] opens with two brothers,
Montague and Capulet, who have been feuded for nine years over who will steer
their family s pearl diving ship. This serves as an apropos metaphor for Iraq at the
beginning of the war. Romeo and Juliet, who like all the play s characters retain
their original Shakespearean names, have already met and fallen in love before the
feud. They have been kept apart by the cycle of violence resulting from the feud
between their families (Janmohamed 1). The Iraqi cast members changed the play
so it fits to their situation better. These changes had a big effect on the watchers,
[the] emotional effect the play had on its audience was clear. During the
performance, many had eyes filled with tears. At joyous moments, audience members
tapped along to the wedding songs and laughed at the inclusion of an old Iraqi folk

Essay about Analysis of Song How to Save A Life by The
Fray
The Fray s hit song, How To Save a Life, tells a story of a mentor, also a friend, who
is trying to save a life of a troubled youth. The story starts off with the teenager and
this friend sitting down to have a talk about what is wrong in the teen?s life. The
second line reads, he walks, you say sit down it s just a talk, this showing anger and
fear of what might be brought up in conversation, so he tries to run away from the
problem. Although neither individual wants to have the talk, they both respect each
other enough to be polite, He smiles politely back at you/
You stare politely right on through. Then the narratormentions a metaphorical
window to your right/As he goes left and you stay right, which is telling us, ... Show

Then it is told that, ?he will do one of two things/he will admit to everything/or he
ll say he s just not the same,? which is meaning he might come out and say he
needs help and stay, or he might leave and never return. The last verse ends with,
?and you ll begin to wonder why you came,? once again, any which way telling us
that even at the end of the conversation he is doubting his skills to help the youth.
The chorus takes place in the mind of the mentor, ?where did I go wrong?/I lost a
friend/somewhere along in the bitterness/and I would have stayed up with you all
night/had I known how to save a life.? He is, at heart, telling himself he failed to
save someone because he didn?t know how. The very first line of the song the
lyrics read, ?step one, you say we need to talk,? which is obviously trying to give a
step by step detail of how someone would go about having a difficult talk with
someone who may be ruining their life. The song was written to guide someone to
help those in need. In an interview that Christian radio personality, Stan Friedman,
had with Isaac Slade, the Fray?s lead vocalist, Friedman mentions, ?The title track to

Cassy decided not to visit the club for a while, but a voice at the back of her mind

the lawlessness and the fun, as though it had some magical effect on her. She decided

Whatever you are having, she replied, trying to be normal, but her eyes were

anxious. She felt as if she was pushed into a furnace, sweating like a fish.
Two martinis, he said to the bartender, looking at Cassy, knowing that something
was fishy. He looked at the man, she was staring, who was staring right back at her.
Ty walked towards them and set next to Cassy, ordering himself a martini as well.
HI, said Ty, slightly turning his face towards Cassy.
Hi, she replied, her tone was low and scarcely audible. Lorenzo was getting suspicious
every moment, and not to mention jealous too.
Haven t seen you for a long time, said Ty, looking right into her eyes.
Is there a problem? said Lorenzo, getting up from his seat with an angry look on his
face, as though he d kill him at that very moment.
I see, you ve made a new friend, said Ty sarcastically, getting up from his seat and

FDA Approval Process of Drugs When I was a kid, I always wondered why it took
so long for an ill person to become well again. I always thought that if the ill person
went to the doctor they would be back to normal the next day, but that s not the
case. For some people it took several days, weeks, months, and even years to
conquer an illness but as a child I never could understand that. I don t know how
many times I ve asked my mom or dad how come the doctors don t get together and
make a miracle drug that could heal anything and everything. It wasn t until the age
of 15 when my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer that I understood
why it took so long for others to heal and the process that they had to endure in order
to be healthy again. Shortly after my grandmother s diagnosis, I started looking into
what it would take to get a drug that would cure cancer through the approval process
on the shelf to save some many others just like my grandmother. But I kept running
into a dead end. Everything seemed to keep pointing towards chemotherapy and
radiation. Although I wanted something to heal my grandmother fast, chemotherapy
and radiation was the only solution if I had wish to see her watch me graduate high
school. I went to almost every appointment with her to watch how it helped
strengthen but also watch as it drained her energy. A month of chemotherapy and a
few weeks of radiation and my
Easy Rider and the Phenomenon of the 1960 s
Counterculture...
In the following essay, I will attempt to highlight the phenomenon in cinema known
as the counterculture youth pic. This trend in production started in the late 1960 s as
a result of the economic and cultural influences on the film industry of that time. The
following essay looks at how those influences helped to shape a new genre in the film
industry, sighting Easy Rideras a main example, and suggests some possible reasons
for the relatively short popularity of the genre. The standard story of the
counterculture begins with an account of the social order against which it rebelled,
a social order that was known to just about everyone by 1960 as the mass society.
The tale of post war malaise and youthful liveliness is a... Show more content on

And towards the end of the 1960 s one of those symbols became the counterculture
youthpic film. As for America, the poor boy and rich girl story (or rich boy and
poor girl), which was the staple of the popular film before World War II, had
disappeared. Money as romance had receded, not because everyone was now rich
but because the middle class image has replaced both the poor image and the rich
image. There was, for example, little difference in appearance between the clerk s car
and the boss s. The ascendancy of the middle class had reached the point where it was
strong enough to control cultural forms, and to magnify its own image in art. (Frank,
Conquest) The movie industry at the time had been filling the screens with
spectacular productions, melodramatic love stories, and popular culture. These films,
which were very successful early on, soon became clichГ©d, and were no longer
profitable. For the first time in its history, Hollywood was having trouble pleasing the
audience. The culture of the time had worked so hard to condition American
audiences to accept a certain image onscreen, that they had removed their desire for
change. Despite its apparent enthusiasm, goes the standard binary narrative, the
Establishment was deeply threatened and in mortal conflict with a counterculture that
aimed to undermine its cherished ethics of hard work and conformity. Easy Rider

Pros And Cons Of Niccolo Machiavelli
There is one name that is synonyms with diabolical, cunning, scheming and
unscrupulous politics, Machiavelli. Niccolo Machiavelli was a brilliant intellect of
the Italian Renaissance. He was a Diplomat and Soldier contrasted with a historian,
poet, and dramatist, which are reflected in his writing. He was a patriotic person that
wanted secure Italy, especially Florence, against all enemies and he understood that
many decisions need to make that will produce the best results. Born to Florentine
nobility in 1400; His early career was as a conducting diplomatic mission for
Florence to other Italian cities, France, and Germany. As a diplomat and soldiers,
he was privy to may atrocities and actions that had both positive and negative
results depending on the situation and how they were implemented. Niccolo
Machiavelli aimed The Prince to show how to build up a principality capable of
expelling foreign interest and restoring the independence of Italy. It was a vivid
portrayal of politics in that day and age. It was originally released in 1513 but was
not widely published and distributed until 1532, five years after Niccolo
Machiavelli death. It has both been praised and criticized at various points in
history on the pros and cons of this thesis of political tactics. William Shakespeare
even used Machiavel to emphasize in Henry VI, how evil GLOUCESTER was:
I can add colors to the chameleon, Change spaces with Proteus for advantages, And
set the murderous Machiavel to school
Many counter views have been published over the years. One of the most
comprehensive was the Anti Machiavelli. An 18th century essay by Frederick the
Great, King of Prussia and patron of Voltaire, stated: Machiavel s advice if
followed uncritically be a prince, may lead to real tragedies in the real world .
Richard Christie and Florence L Geis even developed and named a psychological
test to reflect an aspect of a person s character, the Machiavelli test ( MACH IV:
Machiavellianism Test ). This is to test for one of the Dark Triad Personality , the
others being narcissism and psychopathy. The Oxford English Dictionary described
Machiavellian as duplicitous interpersonal style, a cynical disregard for morality, and

Strictly Ballroom
Certain texts raise certain perspectives about belonging, whether it be belonging to
particular groups through conformity to rules, or belong to a place where you find
inspiration to express your own sense of individuality. The film Strictly Ballroom,
directed by Baz Luhrmann portrays many different perspectives in regards to
belonging. The opening scenes of Strictly Ballroom explore aspects of not belonging
and non acceptance. To belong to the world of ballroom dancing means sacrificing
self expression and individualidentity. Scott Hastings represents the individual who
repels against the group as it threatens to consume him. From this we understand that
some people may have to sacrifice their own true identity to belong to a certain...

Barry Fife is depicted dominant over the rest of the Ballroom community.
Luhrmann portrays Barry s dominance through visual techniques. Barry is shown in
the centre of the Ballroom Dancing officials during competitions. This central
positioning is a clear indication of supremacy over even the officials of the
Ballroom Dancing Federation. Luhrmann uses low angles of Barry as he is first
presented to the audience. These low angles position us to feel Barry Fife s
dominated position in the Ballroom Dancing Federation as he looks down onto us.
Both visual techniques of Barry Fife assert his position as leader of the Ballroom
Dancing Federation and emphasise his strong believe in the conformity to the strict
rules and regulations of the Ballroom Dancing Community.
From the Ballroom Dancing community we come to recognize that certain groups
find a sense of belonging through similar dress and appearance, conformity to certain
rules and regulations and all under a hierarchy of leaders. Although, this sense of
belonging is not for everyone. People within the group may gain a strong sense of
identity and feelings of importance.
Strictly Ballroom shows that the desire to establish identity often revolves around
rebellion and breaking free from the group. This involves courage and the
development of self. To truly belong means being able to be ourselves. Within the
Ballroom Dancing community, there is a clear indication that there are people who

Abstract
Internet of Things (IoT) includes objects which communicate across a variety of
networks. Things in terms of Internet of Things (IoT) encompass all those devices
which have the ability to sense and/or control and transfer data between other devices
using existing network technologies. Some of the examples are routers, switches,
security cameras, control systems used in gas stations etc. This paper begins with an
introduction on IoT. As IoT includes thousands of devices, we have restricted our
scope to security cameras. Our paper discusses in detail the vulnerabilities existing in
today s security cameras, different ways in which cyber criminals can take advantage
of these weaknesses and the measures that can be taken to strengthen security in
cameras.
Introduction
The world is getting smarter and better and so are the devices. With the improved
technology, we can check our mails on our watch; control our home temperature
through our smartphone and much more. The term Internet of Things is referred to
any object or device which connects to the Internet to automatically send and/or
receive data [1].
The following are some of the IoT devices [1]:
пЃ¶Security systems, for example security alarms, CCTV cameras or baby monitors.
пЃ¶Automated devices that remotely or automatically adjust lighting or air

My Men Are My Heroes Book Report
The day I was wounded, I certainly didn t start out thinking I should kick in a door
and engage practically hand to hand with the enemy. However as I was with my
Marines going street by street and house by house, upon learning that wounded
Marines were trapped inside a building with terrorists, I knew every second counted.
As a Marine, you are taught to be able to make tough decisions on the spot; you are
taught to expect the unexpected. You are taught to live up to expectation of being
one step above everyone else in every way. Marines are taught to be leaders, and as
leaders, you lead your peers where is best for them, you do what is best for the good
of the group, despite if it is best for you. The quote above is located in the Epilogue
from the book My Men are My Heroes by Nathaniel R. Helms. This book tells the
story of a stellar Marine, Sergeant Major Brad... Show more content on

their head. To give everything you can to the men and women you serve with, to
make choices that are best for everyone and not just one person are simply givens.
This book and stories similar to SgtMaj Kasal s are what make me proud to be a

everything you have throughout Recruit Training.
SgtMaj Kasal goes onto say: To this day, many consider it a miracle that I lived
after the severe blood loss and trauma caused by seven gunshot wounds and several
dozen shrapnel wounds. I simple see it as just the love for a fellow Marine and a
little bit of toughness and stubbornness. Throughout this entire ordeal from the time

the multiple wounds and loss of blood, I never lost consciousness or quit my post

Cowards In The Crucible
During the Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy Trials many chose to praise and
be submissive to those who were accusing, they who choose to submissively praise
such evil are known as the cowards. A coward is a person who lacks courage in
facing danger, difficulty, opposition, pain, ect. (The Definition of Coward 2016).
Though times of persecution such as The Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy
Trials are intimidating, There are those who stood up to the accuser or accusers they
are those who are courageous. Being courageous is possessing or characterized by

McCarthy started accusing if he had any reason to believe the one was a
communist, or wanted to do way with such person. An example of one who was
accused was Owen Lattimore. It is believed that because of Lattimore s
outspokenness and liberal views, as well as an acquaintance with Chiang Kai Shek,
Made him ideal for McCarthy s anti Communist Campaigns. Then in 1950 McCarthy
accused Lattimore of being the Soviet s number one spy, Lattimore was convicted of
seven counts of perjury after 12 days of brutal questionnaire. Though the charges
were dropped three years later, Lattimore s reputation was destroyed with no chance
of redemption. (Victims of McCarthyism 2016)
Now that mass chaos has been unleashed, there are some who will not put up with
such nonsense. This is step four, the birth of the courageous. After John Proctors
wife Goody Proctor was accused of being a witch, John had enough of this
nonsense. John is one of the first to stand up and say something about it, You are a
coward! Though you be ordained in God s own tears, you are a coward now!
(Miller 79). John shows courage by pointing out the cowards, and by doing so he is
starting the revolution that will put an end to this
Nguyen Family Patterns
Family Patterns
The family pattern of the Nguyen s is a strange combination of both enmeshed and
disengaged patterns of communication and relationships. For one, each member of
the family is well aware that the school expelled the middle son, Gary. They also
later become aware that he is in the possession of a gun. However, although they are
aware of these issues, no one knows the reasons behind them. Tringh exemplifies this
pattern when she cries to her mother, I don t even know what s happening with my
own children. Furthermore, while the family is willing to talk to Jimmy, his life with
his girlfriend remains a complete secret. Ultimately, the family seems quite aware that
there are some serious issues within the structure of their ... Show more content on

Because of these factors, it creates a sense of secrecy within the family, and again, the
lack of communication among members causes serious strife and conflict within their
relationships. Despite these maladaptive family patterns around their relationships
and communication, the Nguyen family possesses inherent and individual strengths
that demonstrate their resilience. The greatest and most prominent strength of the
family is their ability to adapt to differences in culture and expectation. Although
they are having their struggles in America, they are still ultimately successful in
making a living for themselves in a different world. Along with the stress, the
parents are still in conjunction with one another with regards to family values and
it is clear that each member deeply cares for one another. This aspect of resilience
is crucial because it has positive implications as to their willingness to change as a
family unit for the better. Additionally, it is clear that the family is a set of very
hardworking individuals, who have hope for a better life despite all the obstacles
faced, and the very definition of resilience is the ability to see have hope in situations
that others (non resilient individuals) would not. Again, this particular set of
strengths is important in allowing and assisting in the family altering their problems.
With hope, it will help the family work towards their goals if they truly believe that
their family can change
Essay On Gun Violence In America
The Pattern of Gun Violence in America
Sandy Hook Elementary, Charleston, Umpqua Community College, and Virginia
Tech. These names spark fear into those who have witnessed the outrage of Gun
Violence in America. Nearly Eighty people die of gun related deaths each day. It is
true that stricter gun laws would not have abolished these incidents, but there is a high
chance that stricter measures could have prevented a majority of these incidents, and
minimized the number of casualties involved. The culture of violence in America has
gotten out of control, therefore the Second Amendment should be repealed.
American society has evolved since the eighteenth century and it is time the gun laws
reflected it. In 1791 the Right to Bear Arms was adapted into the United States
Constitution, It states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a
free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
When our founding fathers were generating gun laws, they were surrounded by a
completely different culture then we live in today, and they did not anticipate the
types of weapons that would be accessible. The cities at this time were always under
threat of being raided by enemies, and the army was new and ... Show more content

Incarceration Of The United States Essay
Even though the United States makes up just 5% of the world s population, it
houses 25% of the world s prison population (Walmsley, 2009). The United States
prides itself in being a worldwide leader in just about every category; however, being
the world leader in incarceration rights might not be something the United States
would be proud about. Incarceration rates in the United States have grown at
alarming rates in the past forty years specifically and it has resulted in major
overcrowding issues in nearly every prisonand jail within the country. Although it is
evident that incarceration is a major problem within our country the issues with
incarceration do not end at just overcrowding. It is clear and evident through
statistical data and research that incarceration does not affect everyone the same.
The incarceration rates of minorities are much higher than that of white Americans
within the United States. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics minorities
make up 37% of the general population but nearly 70% of the prison population. The
high number of minorities in the prison system can be directly attributed to the fact
that minorities often face harsher sentencing more specifically the African American
population tends to receive the harshest of sentences. At the federal level, black drug
offenders received harsher punishments than similarly situated whites, even while
taking socioeconomic status, offense severity, criminal history, plea agreements, and
The Rise Of The Middle Class
For decades now, our political and economic policy have been constructed around
one idea: that if taxes on the rich go up, job creation will go down. This idea has
been the backbone of Republican trickle down Reagan economics and has been
scarcely challenged by Democrats. America s economy as well as the global economy
as a whole are facing extreme income inequality and this idea has only widened the
gap. Our political system has been flooded with the money of the rich through
lobbyists or super PACs, who then are the ones receiving the taxcuts and are
garnering political favors by doing so, effectively moving us farther from a free and
fair democracy, but rather towards oligarchy. The middle class has been fading away

Hanauer begins his argument by comparing the fallacy on hand to another fallacy
we once believed, which turned out to be dead wrong: For thousands of years
people were sure that earth was at the center of the universe. It s not and an
astronomer who still believed it was, would do some lousy astronomy. In doing
this, Hanauer seeks to bring out the duh! response out of people and relate it back
to the argument at hand. The argument being that if a policy maker who believed
that the rich and businesses are job creators and therefore should not be taxed,
would make policy equally as lousy. Although he incites the emotional response in
the reader he also backs it up with facts and his experience as one of the plutocrats.
He cites his experience as well as,going into some basic economic theory: I have
started or helped start, dozens of business and initially hired lots of people. But if
no one could have afforded to buy what we had to sell, my businesses would have
all failed and all those jobs would have evaporated. He uses this to pivot to his next
point, which is the main point of the argument: That s why I can say with
confidence that rich people don t create jobs, nor do businesses, large or small. He
backs it up with his theory, which is a basic economic principle of demand when
broken down: What does lead to more employment is a circle of life like feedback
loop between customers and business. Not only is it not the rich who create

Analyzing The Film Arrival
Arrival was a sci fi Drama set in the present day and conveyed a message of
community and communication we could all learn from. In the original screenplay
Louise Banks was introduced as being charming and hopeful with a perspective on
stories and where they begin and end. Throughout the completed film, Amy Adam s
portrayed Louise as more mellow. Louise seemed overly sad and lonely without
reason. Granted, its conveyed that she is sad because her daughter died from a rare
disease. But, about three quarters of the way through the filmit s discovered that
Louise was seeing the future and not the past. In essence, her daughter hasn t been
born yet, so why is she so serious and brooding? In the screenplay, Louise s normal
day carried on several pages too long. The film effectively snipped the minutia away
and added more meaningful, engaging events leading up to the Arrival. For
example, the classroom scene was greatly reduced, and the film was still able to
convey that aliens had landed and everyone was nervous about their intentions. It also
allowed for time to focus more on Louise as a character. The film also incorporated
other countries into the story. Chinawas communicating with their aliens with a
game. This is where the offer weapon storyline came in, so it wasn t all... Show more

This allowed time for the strongest tentpole of the screenplay, which is was when Ian
discovered that the humans timeline wasn t ending, it was just beginning depending
on how you look at it. And also that, because they had been communicating with the
aliens through a window, the words they had been receiving were backwards. The
film also partially omitted Louis s development of a more in depth relationship with
the alines and just how completely she begins to understand their language and time
line structure. It was included, but was less rewarding and
Examples Of Reality In A Streetcar Named Desire
When Blanche and Stanley began to quarrel, various false shadows began to
appear on the wall behind her. Odd noises and jungle cries also occurred as
Blanche began to convert into madness. All of these effects combined to affect
Blanche s final breakdown and departure from reality in the face of Stanley s
physical threat. When she lost her sanity in her final struggle against Stanley,
Blanche went back entirely into her own world. Whereas she originally coloured her
perception of reality according to her wishes, at this point in the play she ignored
reality altogether.

living a fanciful life in the real world by contrasting her character with Stanley

character is the more grounded, realistic individual by detailing his destruction of
Blanche s fantasy world with each rude remark. Earlier in the piece, Stanley s

Forensic Accounting
A study conducted by two professors from Rider College interviewed over 150
lawyers, Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and accounting educators. The study
identified sixteen skills needed by forensic accountants. According to the study, the
five most important skills are analytical skills, basic accounting skills, problem
solving skills, data analysis skills and interviewing skills (McMullen Sanchez, 2010).
Forensic accountants need analytical skills because as they review financial reports
and other source documents, they need to analyze the validity of each transaction and
determine if the company recorded the transaction fairly. The forensic accountant
needs the ability to analyze where the data came from and whether the data accurately
reflects the numbers posted in the financial reports (McIntosh, n.d.). With an in house
forensic accountant, this will ensure the company s financial state is accurately
reflected while an independent forensic accountant can verify the accuracy of the
reports, both of which help investors determine if the company is worth investing in.
Accounting is widely regarded as the language of business (McMullen and Sanchez,
2010, pg.1). As such, the need for basic accounting skills is self evident, for a forensic
accountant to be able to review financial reports and other source documents he needs
to have an understanding of basic accounting. Without that understanding, the
forensic accountant couldn t determine if the entries in the
Colin Ferguson Research Paper
December 7, 1993, Colin Ferguson began to execute passengers randomly on a New
York commuter train (Who is Colin Ferguson, 2017). After killing six passengers and
injuring nineteen others, he was finally subdued by three of the other passengers
(Who is Colin Ferguson, 2017).
Colin Ferguson was born January 14, 1959 in Kingston, Jamaica. His father Von
Herman was the managing director for Hercules Agencies, a large pharmaceutical
company. Mr. Herman was highly regarded and recognized as a prominent
businessman in Jamaica (Montaldo, 2017). Ferguson had four brothers and
afforded the privileges that wealth offers in an extreme poverty area. He graduated
from Calabar High School in 1969 with a grade average that was ranked in the top
third of his class (Montaldo, 2017). In 1978 his father was killed in a car crash and
a short time later his mother died from cancer. He would then suffer the loss of the
family fortune. At 23 years old Ferguson left Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the
U.S. on a Visitor s Visa (Montaldo, 2017). Jamaican culture is different than
American cultures. A study completed in 1997 concerning 225 Jamaican adults, it
was found that Jamaican men were considered coarse, reckless, aggressive, lazy,
tough, arrogant, stern, disorderly, robust, rigid, autocratic, courageous, and hard
headed (Carpenter Walters, 2011). The only job Ferguson could get were low
paying and menial. He blamed racist Americans for this problem (Montaldo, 2017).
He got married to an American citizen who was also of Jamaican descent. They soon
moved to Long Island but Ferguson continued to be frustrated with reports of loss of
temper and outrage and racial bigotry toward white people who he felt stood in his
way (Montaldo, 2017). In Jamaica he was born into one of the top families in
Kingston. Government and top military members attended his father s funeral but in
America he was not given this honor which appeared to cause him to continue his
hatred toward white people (Montaldo, 2017). His marriage did not last due to his
violent nature. Shortly after his divorce Ferguson was injured at work and he started
attending Nassau Community College with a strong academic performance.

In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher In The Rye, Holden Caulfield, a seventeen year old
boy, transitions from childhood to adulthood. The death of Holden s little brother
signifies the beginning his loss of innocence and growth of maturity. As he enters
adulthood, Holden views society differently from his peers by characterizing most of
his peers and adults he meets as phonies. Thus, Holden takes the impossible
challenge of preserving the innocence in children because he wants to prevent
children from experiencing the corruption in society. The Catcher In The Rye
embodies Holden s struggle to preserve the innocence of children and reveals the
inevitability of and the necessity of encountering the harsh realities of life. As a child,

to his own loss of innocence and advancement toward adulthood. Likewise, Holden

Holden rides the cab to Ernie s. During the ride, Holden sort of [strikes] up a

Foreign Direct Investment Trends Of Kenya
DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION 4.1 FOREIGN DIRECT
INVESTMENT TRENDS IN KENYA. Kenya has recently experienced a surge in
foreign direct investment (FDI) following a period of substantial declines in FDI
inflows near the turn of the century. Net FDI flows to Kenya have not only been
highly volatile but also generally declined in the 1980s and 1990s. Kenya s total FDI
as a percentage of GDP rose from 4.21 percent in 1980 to 7.39 percent in 2000
however this declined to 5.17 percent in 2006 and currently FDI as a percentage of
GDP is a 7.52 percent (UNCTAD, 2014). The investment wave of the 1980s dwindled
in the 1990s as the institutions that had protected both the economy and the body
politic from arbitrary interventions were eroded. The FDI inflows to Kenya since
2008 have considerably improved from $96Million to $514Million in 2013. In recent
years, China has emerged as a key source of FDI in Kenya. Figure 1: FDI Inflows in

Id And Superego In Regarding Henry
In the film Regarding Henry, Harrison Ford s character, Henry Turner is shot in the
brain while out late at night purchasing cigarettes. This changes the cold, stern,
lawyer into an innocent, caring, gentlemen. This is a prime opportunity to
psychoanalyze Henry Turner s id and superego, and determine which is his natural
state. This can be done through studying specific examples of each. The superego
is primarily displayed during the earlier part of the movie, before he was shot. For
instance, at one point in the movie Henry gets angry with his daughter Rachel for
messing with his piano. Even though he feels dignified in his actions, he still
apologizes to Rachel after his wife Sarah asks him to. Another occasion where Henry

the field: Writings on Indian society begin with the writings of Raja Rammohan
Roy who wrote expansively on the rights of women and the predicament of Indian
Peasantry. Opposing Sati Pratha, He fervidly asserted in Translation of a

A Nation Is A Nation By Ernest Renan
Ernest Renan, in his classic essay What is a Nation , excluded religion, race, material
interests, language, military necessity and even geography as suitable answers to his
question. As an alternative, he argues, a nation is a spiritual principle, the outcome of
the profound complications of history (quoted in Mehta, 1999, p. 187). In Ernest s
remark, more than anything else, the spiritual principle included a specific outlook
toward a shared history. In this case, a nationis fundamentally founded on the
possession of memories and a shared past. This is evident, as I have observed, in the
Baloch nationalist movement in Pakistan, where the Baloch justify their distinctive
national character by their history, which distinct them from the... Show more content

Nationalism can make a group fight fiercely for establishing its own sovereignty and
could lead it to rule, that in itself does not reveal which of these nationalisms is ought
to rule. Ultimately, the number of distinctive cultures and potential nationalisms are
going to extinct, or become assimilated in the sea of the nation state (Gellner, 2008,
pp. 42 43). For Gellner, it is irrational to hold nationalism responsible for being
forceful in homogenizing a people through its agencies which is under the command
of nationalist movements. Instead, it is the typical prerequisite for nationalism as an
educated, culturally standardized, exchange capable and transportable population is
what modern industrial states must have to operate successfully. In the light of the
above, the main weakness of nationalism is that only a very small fraction of
nationalisms attain their goals (Gellner, 2008, pp.
Prohibition And Its Effects On The United States
When personal choice is withdrawn from individuals and prohibition is implemented
to control natural human behavior, the hypocrisy that many preach the United States
as being a free society and a nation of tolerance seems to deteriorate when politicians

over again while the taxpayer is left with the bill. Responsible and recreational drug

Even today, manslaughter may give you less time behind bars than being convicted
in the drug trade. And with Congress in 1986 implementing a five year minimum for
anyone found with an equivalent of a few sugar packets worth of crack cocaine
(Pupovac), there was little to no remorse for any drug use at the time including
marijuana.
Additionally when looking at the case of Alva Mae Granny Groves in 1994, a 72

The biome I have chosen is the Tropical Rainforest. The tropical rainforest has two
different seasons: a dry season and wet season. The rainforest does not have the
four seasons we go through here in the deciduous forest. The dry and wet seasons
usually last for about six months. The dry season is where there is a low amount of
rainfall and the wet season is where there is a large amount. Here in the rainforestyou
can find many different animals. There is the African Forest Elephant its weighs
around 6,000 lbs as an adult. This elephant adapts to the rainforest by living in

Student Athletes Are Deserving Of Economic Remuneration
The seven most popular sports (in order) in the United States are: NFL, MLB,
NCAAF, auto racing, NBA, NHL, and NCAAM (Rovell, 2014). Five of the sports
included are professional where the athletes are paid. However, two of them NCAAF
and NCAAM are amateur sports headed by student athletes who are not paid. When
these college sports are on par with professional organizations that are worth billions
of dollars, then the amateurism behind the NCAAF and NCAAM is questioned. In
fact, the NCAA generates almost a billion dollars annually. Since the athletes in
question are amateurstudent athletes, paying them might damage the integrity of the
sports. Therefore, there is an ongoing contested debate over whether student athletes
are deserving of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, amateurism is an illusion because the NCAA insatiably embrace[s]
commercialism in all facets of intercollegiate athletics except on a single issue
athlete compensation (Zola, 2013). The 1980s is where NCAAM and NCAAF
exploded as businesses. The Supreme Court, in 1984, struck down the NCAA s
restrictions on television appearances. This coincided with the government
deregulation of cable television and, ultimately, led to massive television contracts
and sports stations covering NCAAM and NCAAF. As the athletic departments of
universities expanded profoundly, they continued to reiterate the student in student
athletes. By doing so, they built the boundary up as an effective defense from
allowing college athletes to get a cut of the newfound income. In 1988, the NCAA
became an effective private institution when the Supreme Court ruled against Jerry
Tarkanian and allowed the NCAA to dismiss due process during their investigations.
Amateurism, in the sake of college football and men s basketball, is a falsehood and
a boundary created by the NCAA and enforced by college coaches and athletic
departments. The meaning behind the category of student athletes was empowered
by the NCAA in the 1950s to fend off lawsuits and implement the sanctity of college
sports as amateur sports. The NCAA s moral authority lies in the term student athlete
and is meant to conjure the nobility of amateurism, and the precedence
Feminist Literary And Cultural Theory By Donald Hall
Feminism is an occurring problem in today s society. Therefore, society still judges
and give stereotypical characteristics and behaviors to woman. According to the
text, Literary and Cultural Theory by Donald Hall, the purpose of feminism is to
reveal, analyze, and redress the situations in which women s equality with men is
denied (200). For example, feminist analysis is being able to recognize the different
degrees of social power that are given to and used by men and women (Halls 199).
While cultural feminismis one of the many types of feminism, it is an important
issue in society. It mainly focuses on the stereotypical roles and characteristics that
are given to women. The Awakening by Kate Chopin is an excellent example of
cultural feminism. Kate Chopin was born in 1850 when society was filled with
stereotypes and patriarchy. Therefore, her novels are believed to contribute to the
movements of feminism. During the late 1800s the protagonist, Edna Pontellier,
has a difficult patriarchal life filled with oppression within her entire life. The
novel is filled with stereotypes that Edna rebels. A Story of an Hour by Kate
Chopin, unlike her novel, The Awakening, the short story talks about an ill woman
named Mrs. Mallard, who soon is told that her husband has been in a terrible train
accident. At first she was sad, but then realizes she is free of the oppression her
husband gave her. This short story is a great example on how women felt through
oppression that

NATIONAL HEROES DAY
Eidul Fitr is an important celebration for Filipino Muslims, marking the end of the
month long fast during Ramadan and marks the beginning of the month Shawwal.
Also known as Eid al Fitr , Wakas ng Ramadan and Pagtatapos ng Pag aayuno , it is a
national public holiday for all in the Philippines.
Originated by the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, Eidul Fitr is a cause for celebration
and thanks giving to Allah. Eidul Fitr has been proclaimed a national holiday in the
Philippines since 2002, and was the first predominantly Christian country to do so.
This proclamation was made to foster peace and goodwill between major religions in

The combination of these means that the date to celebrate Eidul Fitr constantly
changes. It is the duty of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) to
inform the Office of the President on which date in the Gregorian calendar it should
fall.
For Muslim Filipinos, Eidul Fitr marks the end of fasting during Ramadan. On this
day, it is forbidden to fast as it is a day of celebration. Muslim Filipinos practice
ritual washing before heading to a community gathering, usually in a mosque, and
offer special prayers to Allah. On this day, they give the obligatory charity in the
form of food known as zakat al fitr and listen to special sermons on the occasion.
After attending this gathering, many families choose to celebrate with a feast with
their extended family and friends.
As it is a national public holiday for all, non Muslim Filipinos may choose to spend
the day with their family and friends. Shopping centres and public transportation
continue to run as usual, with the exception of Muslim businesses closing or having
limited trading hours on that day.

Migrant Mother Image Essay
A picture of a mother and her three children became one of the most recognizable
photos in history. It came out of the Great Depression. In the black and white picture,
a woman sits holding her infant, while resting her head in her right hand, with
hopelessness displayed on her face. She has two older children leaning on her, their
back facing the camera. Dorothea Lange, the photographer, worked for the federal
government. Her assignment was to take photographs of rural poverty and capture
the effects of it in her photographs. Migrant Mother did that. It was later discovered
that the mother in the imageis Florence Thompson, who died in 1983. The Migrant

The image symbolizes most of the mothers during the Great Depression. They felt
discouraged because they could not care for their kids. Michael Austin says that she
was a mother of seven at age thirty two (568), which is how many families were.
There were numerous big families during the beginning of the twentieth century. That
caused more struggle for them because there were more mouths to feed. Henry
states that the mother was Aged both by weather and misfortune, she is a victim of
intense poverty (38). Majority of Americans were like that during the Great
Depression. Almost everyone suffered from poverty. This image displayed her level
of suffering, which is why it symbolizes the Americans during the Great Depression.
James C. Curtis agrees because he states After its publication in 1936, Migrant
Mother became a timeless and universal symbol of suffering in the face of adversity
(1). However, the symbolism of the picture goes deeper than that. The tent the mother
and her children was staying in represents the country. It represents how unstable the
country is. The country had fallen apart, just as easy as their home could. There are
numerous instances of symbolism in this image which contributes as to why it is so
representative of that
The Institute Of Electrical And Electronics Engineers Essay
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a worldwide
association of professional dedicated to the advancement of technology. They have

telecommunications and computer networking. The American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) overlooks standardization over a broad spectrum of products and
services in numerous industries including technology, electronics, construction, dairy
and livestock. Established almost 100 years ago, ANSI has provided standards for
many products including lamps, cameras and computers. The International
Organization for Standards (ISO) is a similar body that has an international focus in
providing standards for many different sectors including technology, food safety,
agriculture and healthcare. Similar in nature to ANSI, ISO was originated in the U.K.

Hypertension Is Characterized By Chronic Elevated Blood...
Background
Hypertension is characterized by chronic elevated blood pressure1. It can be a
predisposing factor or secondary to heart failure. In the US, there are 75 million
individuals who have hypertension with two thirds of individuals 65 years or older
diagnosed. Various factors can contribute to the development of hypertension
including renal disease, thyroid disease, dysregulation of hormones, and alcohol
consumption. The disease also highly correlates with age as even individuals 55
years old with normal blood pressure have a 90% lifetime risk of developing
hypertension with age. Left untreated, hypertension can result in retinopathy,
cardiomyopathy, and stroke with the most common cause of death being coronary
artery disease. The diagnoses of hypertension is primarily done by the monitoring of
blood pressure with multiple readings of systolic pressure greater than 140 mmHg
and diastolic pressure greater than 90 mmHg indicating stage one hypertension1,2.
The evaluation of the eyes, heart, thyroid, and renal system are also important in
understanding the cause and extent of hypertension. Initial treatment involves
lifestyle and diet modifications such as exercise, smoking, cessation, and limited
sodium intake. Patients unresponsive to lifestyle and diet modification or have a
blood pressure greater than 160/100 mmHg are recommended by the American Heart
Association to begin drug therapy. Current JNC 8 guidelines dictate the goal of
treatment to reduce blood pressure

“When Your Conscience Says Law Is Immoral, Don T
Follow
When your conscience says law is immoral, don t follow it. (Washington v.
Glucksberg, n.d) This line, originally from Jack Kevorkian seems to resonate
deeply with the proponents of legalizing marijuana use, despite it originally
referring to assisted suicide. The legalization of marijuana use had become one of
the biggest hot button issues of the last decade, and is being fiercely debated across
the United States. First made illegal in 1970 with the passing of the Controlled
Substances Act, which declared it an addictive drug with no medical value, many
are now fighting against this law, citing medicinal uses and an apparent lack of
fierce addictiveness. Since 1996, 23 states have passed laws allowing for medicinal
use of marijuana,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other side of pro legalization are those who seek full legalization of the drug for
recreational, as well as medical, usage. Recreational marijuana should be understood
as marijuana that has not been recommended for use by a medical professional, and
is used solely for the psychoactive properties that it contains. But is the morality
between these two camps really any different? Is using marijuana for the medicinal
purpose alone any different, when looking at it from an ethical standpoint, then
using it for enjoyment? By examining this issue through several different ethical
theories, it becomes clear that there is a distinct difference in the morality between
medical and recreational use. Medical use of marijuana is moral. In some cases, it
allows users to live a relatively normal life, while in other cases it gives users a
reduction in pain as they approach the end of their lives. However, recreational use of
marijuana is not moral. Unrestricted use for no medical reason can be destructive and
addicting, despite the momentary pleasure it may bring to the user. Pleasure is the
basis for one of the main ethical theories, hedonism. As one of the simplest ethical
theories, it is probably the best place to begin our examination.
Hedonism is one of the oldest of philosophical theories, dating back to the ancient
Greeks. As Schafer Landau (2015) explained, Epicurus (341 270 BCE), the first great
hedonist, argued that pleasure was the only thing
Famous Figurines Argumentative Analysis
In examining the famous figurines of the third millennium BCE, Richard Neer,
David W. J. Gill and Christopher Chippindale conclude that there are both material
and intellectual consequences that surround the looting of the 1,600 mysterious
Cycladic antiquities. Through drifting, surfacing, illicit excavation and sinking the
illusory ways in which these now precious artifacts were found is questioned in
contemporary ethics. In summary, approximately 85 percent of the total figurines are
said to be found through the breaking into of secure tombs and robberies. Although
these may be corrupt, it is my contention that it is permissible in which the ways these
findings were executed originally. For without these illicit and undocumented loots,
Politics, Propaganda, and Hate Essay
Politics, Propaganda, and Hate
Propaganda is very important issue in our society. The word propaganda however,
has a very negative connotation. This may happen because people tend to associate it
with the enormous campaigns that were waged by Hitler and Stalin, (Delwiche
2002). Now propaganda has a different face.
It may not be as obvious as but it is used regurlarly by politicians, companies and
others who are interested in influencing our behaviour. Propaganda is the control of
opinion by significant symbols influence , (Laswell, as cited in Chadwick). There
are seven types of propaganda devices. These have been categorized into a few
groups by the Institute of Propaganda Analysis (IPA): Name Calling, Glittering
Generality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A relevant example is the Afghani response to the war against terrorism. Aaaron
Delwiche published a story on his site which was retrieved from the BBC. They
reported a story in 2002, form the the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) about the
propaganda material that was being distributed in Afghanistan. The pamphlets were
distributed in Nangarhar Province in Eastern Afghanistan. The following is an quote
from that pamphlet:
It is a well known and open fact that since mankind has been in existence a tireless
and endless struggle has been waged between good and evil. Good was always
victorious and evil was destroyed and devastated. This struggle continues today.
Some Muslims have been confused and disappointed by this anti terrorist campaign,
but thank God, they separated the true Muslims from the hypocrites . . . (America)
captured strategic points and put its armies in the sacred places of the Muslims . .
.by creating pretexts and conspiracies, as America was afraid of the success of
Muslims in the world, (Author, Unknown).
Although the source and authenticity of the pamphlet are unknown, it does appear to
reflect the views of true Muslims . Judging by this letter they hold serious contempt
for America. They spread this hate by polarizing the two parties with the words good
and evil . The Muslim community being the previous and America being the latter.
These prejudices create

It was a bliss that is often preceded by a significant amount of ignorance and naivety, accented by an active denial of suffering. It was because of this that his laughter often rang louder and more pure than most, his smile more genuine and bright than his peers. For this, his parents loved him his older siblings adored him. He was their wonder, their glory, their Lei. The child that nearly wasn t, the child that couldn t be. But, nevertheless, the Saints saw fit to bless their household with him. Soon, his siblings turned it into a game, the most perilous game of hide and seek. They would scatter, like a flock of sheep hunted by wolves only to reunite once the sun had set and the stars greeted them to let them know they were safe. But then the day came where the stars lied to them, when the crows cawed in mockery at their stupidity and the ravenous wolves of the Shu Han court howled in delight. The corpses of his parents were prostrate upon the doorstep and, being as young as he one, he could almost almost fool himself into believing that they were doing nothing more than sleeping. What stifled those silly, childish beliefs? The scarlet that poured from their wounds. A most necessary of wines that truly should never be spilled. As he stared at his parents at the feet of the wolves who had come for him, he truly thought that his lips would never know the taste of laughter again. He believed that his heart would forever remain a chasm of darkness, sunlight nothing more than a memory. A distant one. A bitter one. What was real was the grip of his captor s as they tore him away from his parents, tears pouring from his eyes as brutally as a torrent of rain. What was real were the promises that they made, telling him that his gift would be put

Why Is Shakespeare Relevant Today While many high school students believe Shakespeare is not relevant today, I believe Shakespeare and his writings are relevant because they are a good influence and they bring people and countries closer together while expanding the reader s vocabulary. Shakespeare is relevant because his writings are a good influence, especially to the prisoners at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex. At the prison, Gene Vaughn and twenty three other inmates re enacted Shakespeare s popular play, Merchant of Venice. The two main points in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet are family and love, but [their] play focuses less on their romance and more on how families, communities and nations can easily and quickly be torn apart. (Janmohamed 2). According to Janmohamed, [it] opens with two brothers, Montague and Capulet, who have been feuded for nine years over who will steer their family s pearl diving ship. • 6. Essay about Analysis of Song How to Save A Life by The Fray The Fray s hit song, How To Save a Life, tells a story of a mentor, also a friend, who is trying to save a life of a troubled youth. The story starts off with the teenager and this friend sitting down to have a talk about what is wrong in the teen?s life. The second line reads, he walks, you say sit down it s just a talk, this showing anger and fear of what might be brought up in conversation, so he tries to run away from the problem. Although neither individual wants to have the talk, they both respect each other enough to be polite, He smiles politely back at you/ You stare politely right on through. Then it is told that, ?he will do one of two things/he will admit to everything/or he ll say he s just not the same,? which is meaning he might come out and say he needs help and stay, or he might leave and never return. The last verse ends with, ?and you ll begin to wonder why you came,? once again, any which way telling us that even at the end of the conversation he is doubting his skills to help the youth. The chorus takes place in the mind of the mentor, ?where did I go wrong?/I lost a friend/somewhere along in the bitterness/and I would have stayed up with you all night/had I known how to save a life.? He is, at heart, telling himself he failed to save someone because he didn?t know how. The very first line of the song the lyrics read, ?step one, you say we need to talk,? which is obviously trying to give a step by step detail of how someone would go about having a difficult talk with someone who may be ruining their life. The song was written to guide someone to help those in need. In an interview that Christian radio personality, Stan Friedman, had with Isaac Slade, the Fray?s lead vocalist, Friedman mentions, ?The title track to How to Save a Life recounts Slade s mentoring relationship with a teenager at a Christian halfway house who seemed hell bent on destroying himself?but, fortunately, did not? (Christian Music Today). In the same interview Slade says:

Fda Approval Process Of Drugs Essay Joston Toney Nicole Thompson English 2010 Online 03 December 2016 The FDA Approval Process of Drugs When I was a kid, I always wondered why it took so long for an ill person to become well again. I always thought that if the ill person went to the doctor they would be back to normal the next day, but that s not the case. For some people it took several days, weeks, months, and even years to conquer an illness but as a child I never could understand that. I don t know how many times I ve asked my mom or dad how come the doctors don t get together and make a miracle drug that could heal anything and everything. It wasn t until the age of 15 when my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer that I understood why it took so long for others to heal and the process that they had to endure in order to be healthy again. Shortly after my grandmother s diagnosis, I started looking into what it would take to get a drug that would cure cancer through the approval process on the shelf to save some many others just like my grandmother. But I kept running into a dead end. Everything seemed to keep pointing towards chemotherapy and radiation. Although I wanted something to heal my grandmother fast, chemotherapy and radiation was the only solution if I had wish to see her watch me graduate high school. I went to almost every appointment with her to watch how it helped strengthen but also watch as it drained her energy. A month of chemotherapy and a few weeks of radiation and my
  • 9. Easy Rider and the Phenomenon of the 1960 s Counterculture... In the following essay, I will attempt to highlight the phenomenon in cinema known as the counterculture youth pic. This trend in production started in the late 1960 s as a result of the economic and cultural influences on the film industry of that time. The following essay looks at how those influences helped to shape a new genre in the film industry, sighting Easy Rideras a main example, and suggests some possible reasons for the relatively short popularity of the genre. The standard story of the counterculture begins with an account of the social order against which it rebelled, a social order that was known to just about everyone by 1960 as the mass society. The tale of post war malaise and youthful liveliness is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And towards the end of the 1960 s one of those symbols became the counterculture youthpic film. As for America, the poor boy and rich girl story (or rich boy and poor girl), which was the staple of the popular film before World War II, had disappeared. Money as romance had receded, not because everyone was now rich but because the middle class image has replaced both the poor image and the rich image. There was, for example, little difference in appearance between the clerk s car and the boss s. The ascendancy of the middle class had reached the point where it was strong enough to control cultural forms, and to magnify its own image in art. (Frank, Conquest) The movie industry at the time had been filling the screens with spectacular productions, melodramatic love stories, and popular culture. These films, which were very successful early on, soon became clichГ©d, and were no longer profitable. For the first time in its history, Hollywood was having trouble pleasing the audience. The culture of the time had worked so hard to condition American audiences to accept a certain image onscreen, that they had removed their desire for change. Despite its apparent enthusiasm, goes the standard binary narrative, the Establishment was deeply threatened and in mortal conflict with a counterculture that aimed to undermine its cherished ethics of hard work and conformity. Easy Rider concludes
  • 10. Pros And Cons Of Niccolo Machiavelli There is one name that is synonyms with diabolical, cunning, scheming and unscrupulous politics, Machiavelli. Niccolo Machiavelli was a brilliant intellect of the Italian Renaissance. He was a Diplomat and Soldier contrasted with a historian, poet, and dramatist, which are reflected in his writing. He was a patriotic person that wanted secure Italy, especially Florence, against all enemies and he understood that many decisions need to make that will produce the best results. The film Strictly Ballroom, directed by Baz Luhrmann portrays many different perspectives in regards to belonging. The opening scenes of Strictly Ballroom explore aspects of not belonging and non acceptance. To belong to the world of ballroom dancing means sacrificing self expression and individualidentity. Both visual techniques of Barry Fife assert his position as leader of the Ballroom Dancing Federation and emphasise his strong believe in the conformity to the strict rules and regulations of the Ballroom Dancing Community. From the Ballroom Dancing community we come to recognize that certain groups find a sense of belonging through similar dress and appearance, conformity to certain rules and regulations and all under a hierarchy of leaders. Although, this sense of belonging is not for everyone. People within the group may gain a strong sense of identity and feelings of importance. Strictly Ballroom shows that the desire to establish identity often revolves around rebellion and breaking free from the group. This involves courage and the development of self. To truly belong means being able to be ourselves. Within the Ballroom Dancing community, there is a clear indication that there are people who do not

Internet Of Things And The Security Cameras Internet of Things Sajni Sapre, Sonalika Parida, Anisha Gogia Informatics USC, Los Angeles sajnisap@usc.edu, parida@usc.edu, agogia@usc.edu Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) includes objects which communicate across a variety of networks. Things in terms of Internet of Things (IoT) encompass all those devices which have the ability to sense and/or control and transfer data between other devices using existing network technologies. Some of the examples are routers, switches, security cameras, control systems used in gas stations etc. This paper begins with an introduction on IoT. As IoT includes thousands of devices, we have restricted our scope to security cameras. Our paper discusses in detail the vulnerabilities existing in today s security cameras, different ways in which cyber criminals can take advantage of these weaknesses and the measures that can be taken to strengthen security in cameras. Introduction The world is getting smarter and better and so are the devices. With the improved technology, we can check our mails on our watch; control our home temperature through our smartphone and much more. The term Internet of Things is referred to any object or device which connects to the Internet to automatically send and/or receive data [1]. The following are some of the IoT devices [1]: пЃ¶Security systems, for example security alarms, CCTV cameras or baby monitors. пЃ¶Automated devices that remotely or automatically adjust lighting or air conditioning пЃ¶Thermostats пЃ¶

However as I was with my Marines going street by street and house by house, upon learning that wounded Marines were trapped inside a building with terrorists, I knew every second counted. As a Marine, you are taught to be able to make tough decisions on the spot; you are taught to expect the unexpected. Marines are taught to be leaders, and as leaders, you lead your peers where is best for them, you do what is best for the good of the group, despite if it is best for you. Because of these factors, it creates a sense of secrecy within the family, and again, the lack of communication among members causes serious strife and conflict within their relationships. Despite these maladaptive family patterns around their relationships and communication, the Nguyen family possesses inherent and individual strengths that demonstrate their resilience. The greatest and most prominent strength of the family is their ability to adapt to differences in culture and expectation. Although they are having their struggles in America, they are still ultimately successful in making a living for themselves in a different world. Along with the stress, the parents are still in conjunction with one another with regards to family values and it is clear that each member deeply cares for one another. This aspect of resilience is crucial because it has positive implications as to their willingness to change as a family unit for the better. Additionally, it is clear that the family is a set of very hardworking individuals, who have hope for a better life despite all the obstacles faced, and the very definition of resilience is the ability to see have hope in situations that others (non resilient individuals) would not. These names spark fear into those who have witnessed the outrage of Gun Violence in America. Nearly Eighty people die of gun related deaths each day. It is true that stricter gun laws would not have abolished these incidents, but there is a high chance that stricter measures could have prevented a majority of these incidents, and minimized the number of casualties involved. The culture of violence in America has gotten out of control, therefore the Second Amendment should be repealed. The United States prides itself in being a worldwide leader in just about every category; however, being the world leader in incarceration rights might not be something the United States would be proud about. Incarceration rates in the United States have grown at alarming rates in the past forty years specifically and it has resulted in major overcrowding issues in nearly every prisonand jail within the country. Although it is evident that incarceration is a major problem within our country the issues with incarceration do not end at just overcrowding. It is clear and evident through statistical data and research that incarceration does not affect everyone the same. The incarceration rates of minorities are much higher than that of white Americans within the United States. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics minorities make up 37% of the general population but nearly 70% of the prison population. The high number of minorities in the prison system can be directly attributed to the fact that minorities often face harsher sentencing more specifically the African American population tends to receive the harshest of sentences. In the original screenplay Louise Banks was introduced as being charming and hopeful with a perspective on stories and where they begin and end. In essence, her daughter hasn t been born yet, so why is she so serious and brooding? In the screenplay, Louise s normal day carried on several pages too long. The film effectively snipped the minutia away and added more meaningful, engaging events leading up to the Arrival. For example, the classroom scene was greatly reduced, and the film was still able to convey that aliens had landed and everyone was nervous about their intentions. The study identified sixteen skills needed by forensic accountants. According to the study, the five most important skills are analytical skills, basic accounting skills, problem solving skills, data analysis skills and interviewing skills (McMullen Sanchez, 2010). Forensic accountants need analytical skills because as they review financial reports and other source documents, they need to analyze the validity of each transaction and determine if the company recorded the transaction fairly. The forensic accountant needs the ability to analyze where the data came from and whether the data accurately reflects the numbers posted in the financial reports (McIntosh, n.d.). With an in house forensic accountant, this will ensure the company s financial state is accurately reflected while an independent forensic accountant can verify the accuracy of the reports, both of which help investors determine if the company is worth investing in. Accounting is widely regarded as the language of business (McMullen and Sanchez, 2010, pg.1). As such, the need for basic accounting skills is self evident, for a forensic accountant to be able to review financial reports and other source documents he needs to have an understanding of basic accounting. At 23 years old Ferguson left Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the U.S. on a Visitor s Visa (Montaldo, 2017). Jamaican culture is different than American cultures. A study completed in 1997 concerning 225 Jamaican adults, it was found that Jamaican men were considered coarse, reckless, aggressive, lazy, tough, arrogant, stern, disorderly, robust, rigid, autocratic, courageous, and hard headed (Carpenter Walters, 2011). The only job Ferguson could get were low paying and menial. He blamed racist Americans for this problem (Montaldo, 2017). He got married to an American citizen who was also of Jamaican descent. They soon moved to Long Island but Ferguson continued to be frustrated with reports of loss of temper and outrage and racial bigotry toward white people who he felt stood in his way (Montaldo, 2017). In Jamaica he was born into one of the top families in Kingston. Government and top military members attended his father s funeral but in America he was not given this honor which appeared to cause him to continue his hatred toward white people (Montaldo, 2017). His marriage did not last due to his violent nature. Shortly after his divorce Ferguson was injured at work and he started attending Nassau Community College with a strong academic performance. A Nation Is A Nation By Ernest Renan Ernest Renan, in his classic essay What is a Nation , excluded religion, race, material interests, language, military necessity and even geography as suitable answers to his question. For Gellner, it is irrational to hold nationalism responsible for being forceful in homogenizing a people through its agencies which is under the command of nationalist movements. Instead, it is the typical prerequisite for nationalism as an educated, culturally standardized, exchange capable and transportable population is what modern industrial states must have to operate successfully. It can be a predisposing factor or secondary to heart failure. In the US, there are 75 million individuals who have hypertension with two thirds of individuals 65 years or older diagnosed. Various factors can contribute to the development of hypertension including renal disease, thyroid disease, dysregulation of hormones, and alcohol consumption. The disease also highly correlates with age as even individuals 55 years old with normal blood pressure have a 90% lifetime risk of developing hypertension with age. Left untreated, hypertension can result in retinopathy, cardiomyopathy, and stroke with the most common cause of death being coronary artery disease. The diagnoses of hypertension is primarily done by the monitoring of blood pressure with multiple readings of systolic pressure greater than 140 mmHg and diastolic pressure greater than 90 mmHg indicating stage one hypertension1,2. The evaluation of the eyes, heart, thyroid, and renal system are also important in understanding the cause and extent of hypertension. Initial treatment involves lifestyle and diet modifications such as exercise, smoking, cessation, and limited sodium intake. Patients unresponsive to lifestyle and diet modification or have a blood pressure greater than 160/100 mmHg are recommended by the American Heart Association to begin drug therapy. Current JNC 8 guidelines dictate the goal of treatment to reduce blood pressure

The other side of pro legalization are those who seek full legalization of the drug for recreational, as well as medical, usage. Recreational marijuana should be understood as marijuana that has not been recommended for use by a medical professional, and is used solely for the psychoactive properties that it contains. But is the morality between these two camps really any different? Is using marijuana for the medicinal purpose alone any different, when looking at it from an ethical standpoint, then using it for enjoyment? By examining this issue through several different ethical theories, it becomes clear that there is a distinct difference in the morality between medical and recreational use. Medical use of marijuana is moral. In some cases, it allows users to live a relatively normal life, while in other cases it gives users a reduction in pain as they approach the end of their lives. However, recreational use of marijuana is not moral. Unrestricted use for no medical reason can be destructive and addicting, despite the momentary pleasure it may bring to the user. Pleasure is the basis for one of the main ethical theories, hedonism. As one of the simplest ethical theories, it is probably the best place to begin our examination. Hedonism is one of the oldest of philosophical theories, dating back to the ancient Greeks. As Schafer Landau (2015) explained, Epicurus (341 270 BCE), the first great hedonist, argued that pleasure was the only thing
