Effectiveness of the telemetric flood monitoring deviceHarhar Caparida
This document summarizes a study that aimed to determine the best telemetric flood monitoring device design between a floating sensor design and an ultrasonic sensor design. Twenty trials were conducted to test the water level readings and response times of each design. The results showed that the floating sensor design had an average actual water level reading of 7.55 inches, while the ultrasonic sensor was 5.90 inches. The average response time for the floating sensor was 7.90 seconds and 12.67 seconds for the ultrasonic sensor. The study concluded that the floating sensor design was more effective based on the water level readings and faster response times.
This document describes the design of a water level alarm indicator circuit. The circuit uses an NE555 timer IC, resistors, capacitors, a buzzer, and a 12V battery. It functions as an astable multivibrator where the operating frequency depends on the water level between two probes - no water means no connection and no beeping, water connecting the probes completes the circuit and causes beeping. The circuit provides a simple and low-cost way to audibly alert when water in a tank reaches a certain level.
Early Warning Systems for Disaster Risk Reductiontdapdm
The document discusses early warning systems for disaster risk reduction in India based on experiences from Orissa in 1999, Mumbai in 2005, and the 2004 Tsunami. It notes that in Orissa in 1999, floods and cyclones led to approximately 10,000 lives lost and the collapse of basic infrastructure, despite existing disaster management plans. It questions whether early warning systems were in place. Similar infrastructure collapses and loss of life occurred in Mumbai in 2005 and from the Tsunami, again questioning if adequate early warning was provided.
The document provides an overview of a GSM based control system project. The system allows users to remotely control and monitor home/office appliances via SMS messages from a mobile phone. A microcontroller receives SMS commands and sends control signals to devices. The project aims to minimize physical presence requirements and save time and energy. It discusses the system block diagram, operation flow, specifications including goals, users, and functional requirements. So we have tried to implement the fruitfulness of technology to combine with agricultural field so that the growth of crops can increase exponentially. Irrigation is the methodology of misleadingly supplying water to land where harvests are developed. Generally hand pumps, channel water and precipitation were a significant wellspring of water supply for watering system. This strategy has prompted serious disadvantages like under watering system, over-watering system which thus causes filtering and loss of supplement substance of soil. Changing ecological conditions and lack of water have prompted the requirement for a framework which effectively oversees watering system of fields. Computerized watering system framework is a machine based framework, which robotizes the watering system of area by joining different programming and equipment approaches together for field watering system.
This paper manages a definite study of different GSM based mechanized ranch watering system frameworks. GSM serves as an essential part since it is in charge of controlling the watering system office and sends them to recipient through coded sign. Our study is focused on examination of different GSM approach.

"Automatic Intelligent Plant Irrigation System using Arduino and GSM board"Disha Modi
Automatic irrigation is a form of irrigation system that incorporates the theory of control, power of wireless technology and feedback system with irrigation. The aim of our project is not only to minimize this manual intervention by the farmer in farm field, but also to successfully water garden plants planted in pots too. Which is why we are using micro- controller based Automated Irrigation system will serve the following purposes: 1) As there is no un-planned usage of water, a lot of water is saved from being wasted. 2) The irrigation is done only when there is not enough moisture in the soil and the microcontroller decides when should the pump be turned on/off, saves a lot time for the farmers. This also gives much needed rest to the farmers and helps, as they don’t have to go and turn the pump on/off manually. 3)This irrigation system can be monitor by user wirelessly. User can receive notification and can provide proper commands via his cell phone whenever necessary.

A New Intelligent Low Cost Mobile Phone Based Irrigation System using ARMijsrd.com
The major occupation of rural India is agriculture. Insufficient rains at various stages of growth are one of major causes of losses to farmers. Many farmers use induction motor pumps to irrigate their farms from wells, rivers and streams nearby. However, shortage of electric power in many states has resulted in unplanned load shedding of long durations in rural areas. So there is a need to ensure that water is distributed to field whenever normal conditions exist. So a remote monitoring is required. Internet based monitoring is one of common approaches of remote monitoring. This approach requires additional devices like modems, buffers, etc. with TCP/IP protocols support and Internet connection. The cost of such system varies greatly depending on speed and bandwidth requirements and hence is justified normally for bio-medical and industrial applications where intensive data transfer of parameters and images are required. Due to the drastic reduction in call and messaging rates makes cellular networks best choice for this. Moreover, simple cell phones having just messaging facility are available at throwaway prices due to migration of population towards higher end models. Such simple models can be easily adapted for remote control applications. So, a low cost system is developed for optimum water distribution in the fields by providing proper amount of water at suitable time intervals based on climatic conditions and at the real time.

CHAPTER 1- INRODUCTION
The global climatic change during the first half of the twentieth century has brought a tremendous impact on the high mountainous glacial environment. Due to the faster rate of ice and snow melting, possibly caused by the global warming, the sea level is increasing rapidly and resulting in a sudden discharge of large volumes of water and debris causing flooding of the low lying areas. With this ever-increasing regularity of flood damage, a definite need has emerged for an early warning for regions deemed to be 'at high risk' from flooding. Furthermore, the high level of damage to properties and loss of lives are the underlying factor in the development an early warning system - Flood Level Monitoring System.
Currently in the South Pacific the Metrological departments get the weather data from the satellite and then predict the average rainfall in the area. Research has been done on Flood monitoring system using GIS hydrological model in China. Again with the use of satellite this system reads the water level and then subtracts the surface elevation to get the height of flood. Moreover most of Flood level systems depend on satellite to predict the flood data. However there was a need of a system which automatically reads the data rather than predicting in the threatened area and then alerts the residence instantly.
