This document describes a system to detect faults in underground cable lines using a wireless underground sensor network (WUSN). Current sensors connected to the underground cables monitor the current flow and transmit data to an Arduino microcontroller. The microcontroller detects any faults and sends the information wirelessly through the soil to a receiver using the moisture in the soil as a transmission medium. The receiver is connected to a PC which displays the cable status and identifies the specific node where a fault is detected. The system aims to efficiently locate underground cable faults in a cost-effective manner without using harmful radiation.

Low cost smart weather station using Arduino and ZigBeeTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
This paper presents low cost-effective weather station with monitoring system by using ZigBee communication technique that serves as a communication channel by using hardware and sensors to transmit and receive data in the weather station system. Using ZigBee over the Bluetooth for the short coverage distance about (1-10 m) and over the (WLAN) (wireless local area network) or Wi-Fi, a WLAN has limitation like delay, lacking BW of the handover of a large amount of data, and some areas have no internet coverage. The system includes implementation and design for the weather station using Arduino Uno board and five sensors gives sixth reading data (rain state, wind level, air pressure, dust density, temperature and humidity). The data can be stored in SD card on receiving (clouding and main processing side) from more than one transmitter node (ZigBee Network). It can be retrieved the data in any time and date. Results showed the system has no delay and the data reputedly changing ever second with the new reading.

rate requirements. Dedicated networks are being deployed for Machine Type Communication.
This tutorial will bring a theoretical and practical initiation of wireless technologies tailored for connecting
embedded sensors. It will explain fundamental concepts of wireless propagation, highlighting the
challenges and opportunities to realize low power connections. Several actual technologies and
standards for different categories of connections will be introduced. A few illustrative use cases will be
presented. A hands-on session will allow the participants to experiment with EFM32 Happy Gecko
developer boards, cooperating in small teams. In a final session, a glance at future trends will be
given. The tutorial will be concluded with an overview of interesting relevant resources and a discussion
with the participants on the expectations for follow up beyond the tutorial.

Many farmers use induction motor pumps to irrigate their farms from wells, rivers and streams nearby. However, shortage of electric power in many states has resulted in unplanned load shedding of long durations in rural areas. So there is a need to ensure that water is distributed to field whenever normal conditions exist. So a remote monitoring is required. Internet based monitoring is one of common approaches of remote monitoring. This approach requires additional devices like modems, buffers, etc. with TCP/IP protocols support and Internet connection. The cost of such system varies greatly depending on speed and bandwidth requirements and hence is justified normally for bio-medical and industrial applications where intensive data transfer of parameters and images are required. Due to the drastic reduction in call and messaging rates makes cellular networks best choice for this. Moreover, simple cell phones having just messaging facility are available at throwaway prices due to migration of population towards higher end models. Such simple models can be easily adapted for remote control applications. So, a low cost system is developed for optimum water distribution in the fields by providing proper amount of water at suitable time intervals based on climatic conditions and at the real time.

A Border security Using Wireless Integrated Network Sensors (WINS)Saurabh Giratkar
Wireless Integrated Network Sensors (WINS) now provide a new monitoring and control capability for monitoring the borders of the country. Using this concept we can easily identify a stranger or some terrorists entering the border. The border area is divided into number of nodes. Each node is in contact with each other and with the main node. The noise produced by the foot-steps of the stranger are collected using the sensor. This sensed signal is then converted into power spectral density and the compared with reference value of our convenience. Accordingly the compared value is processed using a microprocessor, which sends appropriate signals to the main node. Thus the stranger is identified at the main node. A series of interface, signal processing, and communication systems have been implemented in micro power CMOS circuits. A micro power spectrum analyzer has been developed to enable low power operation of the entire WINS system.
