A STUDY ON THE ROLE OF HEURISTIC METHOD IN
THE PRESENT DAY SCIENCE CLASS
CHAPTER-I
INTRODUCTION
Heuristic method is a learning method in which the learner
invents or discovers items of knowledge. The learner struggles
with the item of knowledge just like a researcher. under this
method the pupils are led to discover the facts for themselves
with the help of experiments. This practical knowledge is
permanent than lecture method. Through the heuristic method
we can improve the research skills of the pupils and develops
scientific attitude in students.
Science is a practical subject. So the heuristic method
is very applicable in the science class while applying this
method in a science classes all the learners in a class may be set
to work at the same problem simultaneously. There the pupils
get an opportunity to find the fact behind the experiment through
their own experience.
This method help to develop curiosity in child led to new
discoveries in heuristic method the teacher act as guide
NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE
The study is used to find out the role of heuristic method in
present day science class. The knowledge gain through the
experiments are effective than the knowledge gain through the
lecture method. Science is not a thing to be talked about but a
practical subject. So the heuristic method is needed in the
present day science class.
The heuristic method is significant develop scientific
attitude and research skill in pupil it also very useful in the
development of enquiry and discovery mind of the pupil.
Through the experiment learner are guided to observe facts
correctly, to systematize the knowledge learnt and to arrive at
generalizations.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study has been entitled as ‘A STUDY ON THE ROLE
OF HEURISTIC METHOD IN THE PRESENT DAY
SCIENCE CLASS
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
 To find out the role of heuristic method in science class.
 To understand the effectiveness of heuristic method.
SCOPE AND LIMITATION
Heuristic method has wide scope using this method. The
students get opportunity to spirit of enquiry and discovery. It
develops research skills in the pupils and the students struggle
with item of knowledge just like a researcher.
The knowledge acquired by the experiment are lasting and
permanent
The method has same limitation .here teacher is act as just only
a guide, some experiments are dangerous. So it create dangerous
situation.
CHAPTER-II
METHODOLOGY
Methodology refers to the use of different kinds of method
undertake a study.
METHOD USED FOR THE STUDY
For the present study the investigator has use the survey
method
TOOL USED FOR THE STUDY
The tool used for the study is questionnaire
SAMPLE USED FOR THE STUDY
The sample used for the study is 20 students of M.S.M.H.S.S
Kayamkulam.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSION
The study is used to kind out the role of effective heuristic
method in present day science class. Most of the children’s are
interested to learn from the experiments and role play because
knowledge gains from these methods permanent and lasting.
The bookish knowledge is second hand and easily forgotten
The experiment help them student to understand the facts
behind the experiment and develop scientific attitude. Spirit of
enquiry and discovery it also develop research skills.
