Introduction
• A robotic vehicle that can sense metals ahead of it on its path
• Consists of a LC circuit that uses the principle of
electromagnetic induction
• Whenever the metal is present in front of the detector, there
is a change in the frequency of the coil
• Using the frequency fluctuations between current in the
circuit, the metal is detected and sound in the buzzer is
produced to indicate the detection
• Vehicle is controlled by smart phone
• The direction is changed remotely via smart phone using
Bluetooth as communication interface
Objectives
• To implement technology in mines.
• To detect metals in remote areas.
• To implement this technology in security system.
• To attain uniqueness in the design.
Components Used
• Ardunio uno
• HC-05 Bluetooth Module
• LM339
• Motor driver
• Robot Car Chassis Set

Power Consumption
• Main power supply 9V
• Motor * 2 = 3V
• Bluetooth Module 3.3V
• Secondary power supply 5V(Metal Detector Circuit)
Conclusion
• Successfully developed a metal detector robot
• Attained basic knowledge on different steps in circuit
manufacturing such as circuit testing and debugging,
soldering components, PCB designing and manufacture
• Achieved knowledge on bluetooth serial communication,
Microcontroller operating mechanism, operation of
decoder and shift registers etc.
Limitations
• The range of inductor is very short
• The bluetooth works for short distance
Future plans
• The system can be made for greater power
• Efficiency can be increased
• Camera implementation in the robot can be
done
• Ultrasound sensor for obstacle detection
• Note: this is just the prototype version

Metal detector robot

  • 1. Final Project Presentation on The Metal Detector Robot By: Atul Jha Pujan Shrestha Aadarsha Bajagain Nishan Thapa
  • 3. Introduction • A robotic vehicle that can sense metals ahead of it on its path • Consists of a LC circuit that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction • Whenever the metal is present in front of the detector, there is a change in the frequency of the coil • Using the frequency fluctuations between current in the circuit, the metal is detected and sound in the buzzer is produced to indicate the detection • Vehicle is controlled by smart phone • The direction is changed remotely via smart phone using Bluetooth as communication interface
  • 4. Objectives • To implement technology in mines. • To detect metals in remote areas. • To implement this technology in security system. • To attain uniqueness in the design.
  • 5. Components Used • Ardunio uno • HC-05 Bluetooth Module • LM339 • Motor driver • Robot Car Chassis Set

  • 9. Power Consumption • Main power supply 9V • Motor * 2 = 3V • Bluetooth Module 3.3V • Secondary power supply 5V(Metal Detector Circuit)

Conclusion • Successfully developed a metal detector robot • Attained basic knowledge on different steps in circuit manufacturing such as circuit testing and debugging, soldering components, PCB designing and manufacture • Achieved knowledge on bluetooth serial communication, Microcontroller operating mechanism, operation of decoder and shift registers etc.
  • 11. Limitations • The range of inductor is very short • The bluetooth works for short distance
  • 12. Future plans • The system can be made for greater power • Efficiency can be increased • Camera implementation in the robot can be done • Ultrasound sensor for obstacle detection • Note: this is just the prototype version
