What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?

2. This particular company would be good to distribute our product as they are
well-known and also have the ability to distribute films that are exhibited in
mainstream cinemas. Even though the film would be produced on a low
budget, Warner Brothers could make it accessible worldwide, with the
potential that ‘The Angel’s Claw Productions’ gets their name known globally
and sweep the nation. As they are a big American production company, a
synergy could be possible as ideas will be shared, benefitting both my
production company ‘The Angel’s Claw Productions’ and Warner
Brothers, as they will be able to offer a big variety of films such as realism
British films instead of their before glossy outlook of Britain, and my
production company will have bigger budgets to create films which will
appeal to a larger audience.

3. Working Title would be another institution to distribute our media product
because they are a good example of a synergy. Starting off as a small
independent British film company they were able to form a synergy with
Universal Vivendi, due to globalisation they are now well-known in
America, but with their heart still in Britain. Based in London, the
company also has offices located in Los Angeles and Ireland, showing
that they are a well-known institution. They have produced box office hits
such as; Shaun of the Dead, and Four Weddings and a Funeral; and have
distributed films such as, Pride & Prejudice and Chasing Planes:
Witnesses to 9/11. So I feel that they would be a good institution to
distribute our film because they have experience and will be able to
contribute ideas to help with production as they know what makes a good
box office hit.

4. Facebook would be a good resource when distributing our product as it is a
global entity and due to viral advertising, it can sweep the nation quickly. It
would also provide us with some good feedback so when producing films in
future we can take this onboard and produce a film that everyone can enjoy.
You can also easily communicate via Facebook and social networking in
general so people can be kept up-to-date on our company and possibly even
give us ideas on what would make a good film. Another advantage is that
events could be held which would be made aware of via Facebook, Twitter
etc. This will enable us to see if our story line or a rough cut of a film appeals
to the target audience we were aiming for. Overall, I feel that this is the most
effective method of distribution because it is quick, easy and mostly free.
