Optimum Releasing would be a suitable small institution to distribute the thriller film. As a low budget UK-based company, Optimum Releasing has experience releasing similar low budget thriller films in the UK market. Larger potential distributors include Universal Studios and Warner Brothers, major Hollywood studios with experience distributing thriller films globally through cinema screens, DVD, and TV platforms. These large institutions could more widely distribute the film but would require a higher budget.

From my research I understand that I would need to find both a
large institution company and a large company.
I understand as that we would need to find a low budget company
to distribute our thriller. From my research I found a distribution
company called ‘Optimum releasing’. I then researched the
company and found out that they have released low budget
thriller films before such as ‘Dead Mans Shoes’.
The company’s headquarters are also based in the UK which
means they have better knowledge of the UK film market and an
understanding of how the film should be released in the UK
economy e.g. through the cinema, Lovefilm, DVD and TV.

4. LARGE INSTITUTIONS
I researched larger institutions which also have released thrillers before and found ‘Universal
Studios’ have, and is one of the six main major movie studios.
They have released films such as
- The Unborn
- The strangers
- Drag me to Hell
Another institution that I researched was ‘Warner Brothers’ they have produced the film we
based outs around ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. I therefore feel this would be a good company to
distribute our film as they made the Batman saga a success.
Both of these companies are big budget film distributors so are high budget, this will mean
they will have greater access to distribute the film through large cinema groups distributing
DVD and TV on demand and maybe globally.
