Magazine Pitch and Proposal Overview
Proposed Genre of Magazine: Musical theatre music magazine.
Proposed Name:Voice
Alternative/Back up Name:Curtain call

Ideas for Front Cover:
Include initial thoughts on dominant image, font styles, articles to be used, colour scheme etc.

For my front cover I would like my dominant image to be a recreation of the
Chicago poster, my title will be in Broadway font and I have decided that
the colour scheme will be red, black and orange to fit in with the Chicago
style poster. The articles will be intriguing such as upcoming actors/actresses
and their voices and the top 20 songs from musicals ect.

Target Audience (age range, gender, interests, income etc:

  Target audience

Age: I hope for my magazine to appeal to people from age 16 upwards interested in
  musical theatre.
Gender: I aim this magazine at both genders.
Interests: music from the theatre, interviews, quizzes, free stuff, biographies, behind the
  music, lyrics and scores.
Income:I would like to price my magazine at around £2.50 because it would compete with
others out there as they are all quite expensive and because I start my age range at 16
where they won’t have a lot of money.

Initial Ideas for Contents Page(s):

1 or 2 pages?1
Percentage Split between Images and Text:more text then images.

Section Headers for Contents List:“On the cover” for the stories that are on the front cover.
And “Other stories” for the other articles.
An Overview of Some of the Articles/Features Included on your Contents Page:

Things I’m going to include on my contents page, will be interviews with the actors/ actresses the
charts of the music from the theatre. I also hope to include scores, lyrics and articles on the
background of the lyrics to the songs and why they were written for what purpose.
Will You Include an Editor’s Letter? No

Article Double Page Spread:

What will your Double Page Spread be about:An interview with the dynamic duo, which
will be the two girls featured on my front cover and contents page.
Back up Idea:my backup idea if this doesn’t work is to do an article on the background to the
songs out of a particular musical and get reviews to put on it.
Percentage Split between Images and Text:I hope to put at least 2 images on my double
page spread.
Possible Title or Headline:“Dynamic duo, split?”

What kind of a ‘story’ are you going to create?

I hope to create a scenario where these two best of friends are just staring in
their last musical together, after being in everything they’ve done together
from first starting out, to see what the road ahead has for them alone. It will
involve many questions and answers on past shows and future shows.
I hope to make this look very presentable using bright colours and clear fonts
which will make it look readable.
If this doesn’t work I would like to do an article on the top 20 of the music
from musicals with their background information on and then reviews on
 them.

Additional Ideas worth mentioning:

To make my magazine appealing I will advertise free things and
competitions on the front cover and on the contents page.
