Over the last 50 years, audience consumption of media has changed drastically. People now have more choices and easier access to media through new technologies like the internet, smartphones, and hundreds of TV channels. Fifty years ago, people had to go to the cinema to watch films, only had a few TV channels to choose from, and could not easily contact others outside their homes. While these new technologies provide more options, they have also disrupted traditional media industries like newspapers, magazines, films and TV.
