Project: Golden Era Magazine
Project Description:
I will be making a magazine similar to that of Q and XXL. It’s important that the
layout and design of my magazine reflects that of my magazines of inspiration; Q
and XXL. The name of my magazine is GE. I’ve referred to the magazine as GE
because the name currently reflects what is occurring in the world of music and
the sales figures keep increasing more and more each time.

Technical Codes – In the picture, I’m wearing a hat and overall, I’m wearing all
black to convey the culture of hip-hop which artists involved in the genre tend to
wear all-black sometimes to reflect their emotion and current state of feeling.
Lighting – the lighting is very vague and dark to convey to the viewers that rap
music is dark and emotional.

For the masthead, I chose the name; Golden Era, because it conveys to the
reader that my content will be documenting the rise of rock and rap music
amongst the youth and how it’s in the highest point it’s ever being since the other
decades of music.

Casting:
Model requirements:
I chose myself because I am of a dark complexion and the use of my skin color is
heavily depended on within the rap and maybe rock culture.

 The model (me) has to be average height of 5’8’’ and above. For example,
I’m the model in my magazine and measured to be around 5’8’’.
Wardrobe and Look:
All black clothing – T-Shirt, hoodies, jeans
Black snapback – Era cap
Hair and Make up:
I need to make sure my hair is square
shaped and proportionally shaped. The
haircut is an inspiration from rap stars back
in the 80s such as Will Smith.
Where:
The shoot will take place at school outside of the Sixth form block.
