deductive approach to theory development and a survey research strategy. Findings reveal that work stress
negatively and significantly impacts employee performance, while digital literacy positively and significantly
affects it. Simultaneously, work stress and digital literacy have a positive and significant influence on employee
performance. It is anticipated that company management will devise workload management strategies to

Factors affecting undergraduate students’ motivation at a university in Tra Vinh
ABSTRACT: Motivation plays an important role in foreign language learning process. This study aimed to
investigate student’s motivation patterns towards English language learning at a University in Tra Vinh, and factors
affecting their motivation change toward English language learning of non-English-major students in the semester.
The researcher used semi-structured interview at the first phase of choosing the participants and writing reflection
through the instrument called “My English Learning Motivation History” adapted from Sawyer (2007) to collect
qualitative data within 15 weeks. The participants consisted of nine first year non-English-major students who learning
General English at pre-intermediate level. They were chosen and divided into three groups of three members each
(high motivation group; average motivation group; and low motivation group). The results of the present study
identified six visual motivation patterns of three groups of students with different motivation fluctuation, through the
use of cluster analysis. The study also indicated a diversity of factors affecting students’ motivation involving internal
factors as influencing factors (cognitive, psychology, and emotion) and external factors as social factors (instructor,
peers, family, and learning environment) during English language learning in a period of 15 weeks. The findings of
the study helped teacher understand relationship of motivation change and its influential factors. Furthermore, the
findings also inspired next research about motivation development in learning English process.

My magazine proposal.
- 2. My magazine title and why I have chose it. I am choosing the name ‘Release’ for my music magazine. I like this name for a pop magazine because the audience listen to pop magazine as escapism. They like feeling released from the possible trauma’s of their own lives which is why I deem it suitable. Artists also write their music to release their emotions to the public, this is also an ideal reason to name the magazine ‘Release’.
- 3. Explain your choice of genre and how you will communicate it. I have chosen the genre pop, I have done this because the majority of people who did my survey said they prefer pop to any other genre. Also, I have read and researched more pop magazines than any other genre, this is because I prefer the genre so I have been reading them since a young age. I want to use this to my advantage and take ideas from what I already know. I am going to communicate the genre by the pictures and they way in which I present my writing. I want to present my magazine in a mature way to target the mature audience, not pre-teens. I will also communicate it by the colours, I will stick to the three colour rule keeping them light colours and also using a female model. I will use a female because in my research I learned that pop magazines usually have females on the cover.
- 4. My target audience. My target audience is 16-25 year olds of both genders. I have chosen this age group because at the age of 16 the audience members will have started to mature and be interested more in the articles than the free gifts you get with them. The maximum age I will aim to reach is 25, this is because most people over this age will not have the time to read or will not be interested in the main stream pop artists that my magazine will include.
- 5. Initial idea for my image. My initial idea for my image will be a teenage girl in a t-shirt with a famous pop artist on it, she will have a smirk on her face and eye contact with the audience to create direct address and rapport. The smirk on the girls face will suggest that she is happy to be included in the pop magazine genre.
- 6. Initial ideas for my front cover. My front cover will have: The girl in a pop artists shirt The three colour rule- Red, white and black. - 7. How to establish a house style. I will establish my house style by using synergy between the colours on all of the pages (front cover, contents page and double page spread.) I will also use different pictures of the same model from the front cover, this is so that more synergy is created. The pictures will be smaller on the contents page and double page spread so that the attention will not be taken away but the house style will be clear.
- 8. Ideas about contents page and double page spread. My contents page and double page spread will stick to the main conventions used on the cover; the same three colour rule for example. I only want one image on each page, this is to keep a sophisticated style towards my magazine. Both pictures will be of the same person from the cover, they will be different pictures to portray different situations, possibly: serious, fun or mysterious. I would like a black background with red and white writing, using only one picture and my chosen colours targets the audience I am aiming for perfectly.
- 9. What institution would publish your magazine? I would like Bauer media group to publish my magazine. I have chosen this institution because of their history with music magazines. They publish magazines with the likes of Kerrang and Q magazine, both of which are now highly successful in the music magazine industry.
