Robert Frost s The Bearer Of Evil Things
Sabrina Carpenter says that it s like breathing in the salty air on a private island just for me.
Huey Lewis and the News says that it will Make one man weep, make another man sing. Both
songs about how love makes you feel and how powerful love actually is. Singers, writers, and
poets have talked about lovesince anyone can remember. Everyone feels love and were the power
of love has affected everyone. In The Bearer of Evil Things Robert Frost uses imagery, the main
character s choices and the acceptance of the main character to show that love leads people astray
but in the end always saves them.
Frost starts out by setting up a man, the bearer of evil things, on a journey to do the obvious: bear
evil things. But Frost says that he remembers or realizes that evil tidings are dangerous. The man
comes to a parting and has to make a choice. Frost writes, Where one road led to the throne/And
one went off to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frost uses this to show that love will make people not think twice. Frost writes, Took him home
to her bower,/ Or he might be running yet/ She taught him her tribe s religion (lines 16 18). What
Frost is saying here is that the women did not even think about taking him in because she fell in
love with him. The man doesn t think twice about continuing running whether because of
exhaustion or love for the girl. Then the man decides to adopt the race and Frost says , They had
both of them had their reasons/For stopping where they had stopped. (lines 39 40) The reason they
stopped was because of love. The man stopped because he fell in love with the tribe and the woman.
In The Bearer of Evil Things Robert Frost uses imagery, the main character s choices, and the
acceptance of the main character to show that love leads people astray but in the end is a saving
power. Everyone encounters love every day whether we realize it or not, the love still impacts how

Analysis Of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, By C. E....
My hopes in The Girl that Played with Fire, are equal to or higher than my hopes were for The
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The beginning of this book hasn t necessarily brought as much
mystery to the text as the first book did, but it is just the beginning of the novel. There have been
different items throughout the book that may have been simple items to some, but as I read I
tried to pick apart the meaning and importance of them being in the book. Many people hang
pressed flowers on their walls and next to pictures, but to Vanger there is a whole different
meaning that constantly brings him back to before Harriet disappeared. Though the pressed
flowers are from the first book in the series, I feel it is crucial in the building blocks... Show more

As mentioned in the previous chapter, Lisbeth blackmails her guardian, which made him about as
happy as an English teacher correcting Math homework.в єпёЋ After this, the Lisbeth s guardian,
Bjurman, intends to not only blackmail her, but intends to kill her as payment for what she had
done to him. While searching for information that Bjurman can use against her, he finds a notebook
that has notes written in it talking about the evil thing that happened to Lisbeth when she was only
thirteen. Though it does not specify in the journal what the evil thing is, Bjurman notices that it
happened right before Lisbeth started getting into trouble with the system. This is why the
notebooks that he finds are very important, because without them he may not be able to find out
what had happened to Lisbeth as a child. In the prologue of the book, the author writes from the
perspective of a thirteen year old girl who had been kidnapped, tortured, and assumably raped. The
reader can link the event in the prologue to the evil thing that happened to Salander when she was
thirteen, but cannot be sure until the author writes down the connection on paper. The notebooks
will most likely come into play again later in the book and help find solutions to the unanswered
questions both the characters and the readers have about Lisbeth s

Entrepreneurial Orientation In The Apple Computer Company
Entrepreneurial orientation is a key concept when organizations are creating strategies to do
something new and take advantage of opportunities that other organizations cannot exploit
(Ketchen Short, 2017). It can be defined as an organizational level strategic management, which
includes characteristic such as: autonomy, risktaking, competitive aggressiveness, innovativeness
and pro activeness. When major brands Apple and Nike implement entrepreneurial orientation
successfully, they re able to achieve high performance and quality products through innovative
techniques that allows them to maintain market dominance. We ll go into further detail discussing
how both these companies effectively executed entrepreneurial orientation to achieve such success;
starting with some background information.
Apple s history dates to 1974 when two men, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak had a vision that
inexpensive home computers would soon be in demand. Two years later, Jobs and Wozniak built
their first computer in Jobs family garage, they named it Apple I. On April 1, 1976, the Apple
Computer Company was established.
Nike began as an enterprise in Oregon with its founder, sports enthusiast Phil Knight. In 1962, Nike
started under the name Blue Ribbon Sports. During this time, the athletic shoe industry was
dominated by the Adidas and Puma companies. Knight recognized there was segment of serious
athletes that had specialized needs that were not being addressed by the major companies.

The Luck Of Ginger Coffey Essay
In Brian Moore s The Luck of Ginger Coffey, the city of Montreal is depicted as being in a kind
of stasis, its landscape and inhabitants repeatedly described as frozen and stagnant: Four forty
five. Office workers, waiting release as the minute hand moved slowly towards the hour, looked at
the darkness beyond their windows and saw edges of frosting begin to mist the panes (Moore117).
Despite this passage s emphasis on stillness, however, it nevertheless features two references to time
. Throughout Moore s novel, attention is repeatedly paid to specific times or time frames,
complicating the underlying image of Montrealas a city averse to progress. Considering the
subjectiveness of the third person limited narration, it seems best to examine... Show more content

The profession of the contemporary newspaper typist saw a change in corporate culture wherein
the clock became a powerful object, owned only by the foreman and governing the employees. It
seems, however, that Moore s depiction of time is more appropriately a reflection of Ginger s
fixation on the myth of the new world as a land of boundless opportunity. Indeed, the clock does
seem to be independent of the diurnal cycle: As [Coffey] started off, the sun moved west,
unadmitted by the pall clouds which all day had curtained the frozen river and the city islanded
within it . . . Four forty five (117). This image of the sun being blocked from the city by clouds
demonstrates the city s apparent ignorance for the sun s position in the sky, yet the passage
continues on, repeatedly referring to the passing minutes as Coffey makes his way to the
Tribune. One thing that time does not seem so independent from, however, is the lives of the
office workers in the financial district, waiting release as the minute hand moved slowly towards
the hour (117). At five o clock . . . down came the office workers, spilling out into the streets
(117); at five thirty . . . [another] policeman . . . invited Coffey to cross [the street] (117). In this
passage, the connection between time and nature has been completely severed and time has become
reappropriated as

Aristotle Virtues
There are two kinds of virtues: moral and intellectual. Intellectual virtues are learned by experience
and time, whereas moral virtues are learned by habits and practice. Virtues are not given to us at
birth (nature); we have to make our own effort to train ourselves to be virtuous. In the next few
paragraphs, Aristotleemphasizes how pleasure and pain play an important role in how our moral
virtues are developed. To explain he uses an example of a glutton and a temperate person and the
pleasure/pain of food. Then he talks about how many people could be just but that doesn t
necessarily mean that they are virtuous. He proceeds to talk about his three criteria to determine if
a person is virtuous. First criteria is virtuous people know that

The Science Of Determination The Figure Of The Earth
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Research Background:
Geodesy is considered, according to Bruns (1878) and Helmert (1884), as the science of
determination the figure of the earth as well as its gravitational field. This covers the basic general
form of the earth as a flattened rotational ellipsoid and the visible topographic surface resulted from
gravitational attraction of uneven inner masses. Thus, physical and geometric aspects are
inseparably correlated (Moritz 2015).
In geodesy, the figure of the earth refers to the figure extracted physically or mathematically from
the true surface of the earth (Moritz 1990). This includes the geoid and the reference ellipsoid
along with the normal ellipsoid. While the geoid can be interpreted as the physical figure of the
earth, the reference ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical figure of the earth, and the
normal ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical and physical figure of the earth. However,
the reference ellipsoid and the normal ellipsoid are a close approximation of the geoid. Hence, the
figure of the earth studied in geodesy mainly refers to the figure of the geoid (Lu et al. 2014).
Geoid is defined as an equipotential surface of the earth s gravity potential, where the mean
surface of the oceans particularly forms a part (Hofmann Wellenhof and Moritz 2005). On oceans,
the geoid agrees with the mean sea surface, more precisely, with a calm ocean surface subjected
only to the force of gravity, which is assumed

La Cordoba Case Study
As the Sandinistas adjusted to their new position of power, they made decisions that put their own
political agenda ahead of the welfare of Nicaraguan citizens. They controlled everything from menu
prices to water to electricity. Sandinista policies angered the newly instituted Regan administration
in Washington, and they were determined to overthrow them. The counter revolution offered the
perfect opportunity and the CIA agreed to secretly fund the contras(over $15 million between 1981
1982). Argentina, with its efficient and brutal military regime, was the perfect candidate. Along
with Honduras, who agreed to let the contras build bases on their border and receive supplies for
them, the three countries formed La Tripartita.

with them in 1981 and that same year declared war against them. In the end, the search for a new
leader came down to Daniel Ortega and Tomas Borge. The two men s characters could not be
more different. Borge was seen as radical, and even though he was not a skilled fighter, he was a
great conspirator and skilled in the black arts. He was also the only one of the Sandinista
commandates to be tortured by Somoza; this inspired his own security system, which centered
around El Chipote, the infamous short term interrogation center and prison, where many counter
revolutionaries were held prisoner and questioned. Daniel Ortega, on the other hand, was more
moderate with a long history of defying the Somoza regime, beginning in his teenage years. He
was jailed for 7 years for his revolutionary activities and was one of the political prisoners released
after the 1974 Christmas raid. But the real reason that Ortega ultimately rose to power, becoming
the president of Nicaragua in 1985, was because none of the other commandates could ever fully

Poverty Of The United States Essay
More than 800 million people in the world are malnourished, 777 million of them are from the
developing world (Raphel, S., 2014). Poverty is an issue that must be addressed to the population
loud and clear or everyone will end up suffering. There are many families trying to survive and
live from paycheck to paycheck. Unfortunately, there are some families that are unable to support
himself or herself or any family member. One important key issue of povertyin the United States is
inequality. Many Americans blame the poor people for their own fate but you should never
judge a book by its cover. There can be many reasons why an individual or families end up in
poverty. For example, low wage jobs, discrimination and social inequality, vulnerability to
natural disasters, war and political instability. Another big issue we face today is child poverty.
This is a very critical issue because these young children are our future. If we let these children
live in poverty, there is a higher chance they will drop out of school, look for work in order to
support their family, or give up in life. Children in poverty are becoming the poorest age group in
the United Sates. According to the National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP), a U.S. family
of three living in deep poverty survives on an annual income below $9,276, or less than $9.00 a
day per family member. Unfortunately, children face many difficulties in the United States living in
deep poverty because they are not able to

Mexican American history is overwhelmed with rich culture and vast experiences. The struggles
and challenges this diverse group of people possessed throughout time to bring about change prove
important to the history of the world in many aspects and regards. Whether or not to teach Mexican
American history in classrooms throughout the United Statesis a hot topic of debate. However, to
forget about an entire raceand culture of a people is to sweep much larger issues under the rug
such as racial divide. It is not only morally wrong to do such a thing, but also impractical to ignore
an entire group of people. Doing so leaves room to breed uncomfortable ignorance throughout the

Archetypes In The Odyssey And O Brother Where Art Thou
Among the plethora of archetypes that present themselves in Homer s The Odyssey and the film
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is the character of the Blind Prophet. This character is an older man
who has the gift of foresight, yet lacks the gift of physical sight. In the ancient epic poem, the hero
Odysseus travels to the Underworld during his time on Circe s isle to consult the blind seer
Tiresias. In the film, Ulysses Everett and his hunting group of companions encounter a nameless
blind soothsayer upon the railroad tracks after they first escape incarceration.Tiresias warns
Odysseusof the trials ahead on his journey, including the Sirens and the monstrous Scylla, giving
advice on how to best surpass them. The film s blind seer describes a long... Show more content on

This woman of surpassing beauty provides an emotional test for the hero along his journey. This
role is filled by Calypso in the epic, a gorgeous nymph whose love for Odysseus makes him her
captive for seven years. Ulysses s trek to his homeland is significantly altered by the appearance
of the Sirens down at the river, three women who try to capture the men for the bounty through
physical attraction. The Sirens of Homer s work are a challenge along the hero s travels, but they
do not play such a profound role like Calypso. The nymph s love for Odysseus was true, her heart
fixated on the hero that landed upon her isle. The Sirens of Ulysses s tale used sexual temptation to
drag the men in, their intentions driven by greed. Both Odysseus and Ulysses face these women as
their sensuous powers delay them from reaching their treasured goal: home. The presence of these
characters helps establish the protagonists humanity, demonstrating how love and temptation also
linger within the hearts of heroes. The contrast between the motivation of Calypso and the film s
Sirens shows two distinct characters: the temptress moved by love and the temptress moved by

Anselm s Ontological Argument On The Existence Of God
Anselm s Ontological argument sets out to not only prove God s existence, but to show that God s
existence is self evident. Similar to other ontological arguments, it uses a priori knowledge to argue
its validity, meaning that the propositions made are derived from internal reasoning instead of
sense experience. The argument begins with Anselm defining the term God as that, than which
nothing greater can be conceived (pg.26). Although simple, once this term is accepted Anselm
believes he has successfully proven the existenceof God. This becomes clearer with further
analysis. If God is a being that, than which nothing greater can be conceived, it naturally follows
that God would possess all properties of greatness. An example of this would be omnipotence.
Omnipotence would be such a property because it is greater to have ultimate power than to have
limited power, therefore, God being the greatest conceivable being would possess the property of
omnipotence. Likewise, it is greater for something to exist in both reality and the mind, than to
exist only in the mind. Thus, just as omnipotence was ascribed to God so must the property of
existence, for if God did not exist, he would be lacking a great making property, and consequently
would be only a great being, but not the greatest conceivable being.
Existence being am inherent property of God s essence is why Anselm believes God s existence
to be self evident. However, as Anselm states the fool has said in his heart, There

Colin Powell Visionary Leadership
A lifetime of service to his country, Colin Powell had become a national hero right before our
eyes. He was selected as the only African American Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff to lead the
strongest military in the Desert Shield and Desert Storm War. His leadership was showcased as the
Secretary of State advising President Bush. Colin Powellwas viewed the The most trusted man in
America (DeYoung, 2006) to American people. He was considered a visionary and ethical leader
because of wise leadership from his positions at highest level of government for four presidential
administrations. He has helped guide the nation through some of it most heart wrenching hours.
Colin Powell is considered a visionary because he developed the Powell Doctrine by using
idealized influence to persuade President Bush to use overwhelming force to essential win the war
in 4 days. Also, he was an ethical leader by challenging the Republican Partyon race against African
Americans as he supported Barack Obamaduring the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns.
Because of this support he fell into the ethical trap of the loyalty syndrome to Barack Obama or
the Republican party. I ll also discuss my personal relevance to visionary leadership for leading

Within this conference space and CAS as a whole, I had finally found a home for my interests in the
decolonial politics of transnational and postcolonial feminism, politics of race and culture, and
narratives about animals agency and resistance. My presentation, A Transnational Feminist Critique
of the U.S. Slaughterhouse System, discussed how both the animals killed in slaughterhouses and
the undocumented workers employed there are exploited by animal agribusiness and relegated to
the margins of society. Inspired by Sara Ahmed s concept of the stranger, a paradoxical figure who
is perceived as strange due to their race and otherness, I argued that human and nonhuman others
are perceived as unlawful intruders due to both racism and speciesism. Thus, they are expelled from
the white, human, and civilized community to maintain social hierarchies and private property. The
presentation included a slide of a cow escaping from a slaughterhouse into an urban neighborhood.
Showing the complexity of human animal encounters, the cow, who was later named Molly, was
both removed as an unlawful intruder from the community into which she fled, but also invoked
public affection (a ballad honoring her can be found on youtube). A decolonial method of studying
animal resistance attempts to read documents from the perspective of nonhuman animals such as
Molly and recognizes the centrality of capitalist globalization and white human supremacy in
oppressive social

Symptoms And Treatment Of The Thyroid
The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland positioned on the front of the neck. Its job is to produce
thyroid hormones that the body needs for the endocrine, metabolic, and other systems of the body.
Sometimes, it can be affected by cancer, infections, or disease. This will cause it to not function at
its best, which means it will either produce too much or too little thyroidhormones. When it is too
little, this is called hypothyroidism.
Symptoms
Low thyroid production affects the entire body. Initially, it makes a person feel lethargic and
exhausted, even when they have gotten plenty of rest. Cold weather or rooms will become
intolerable. Most people gain weight from the decrease in their metabolism too. Their hair will fall
out, which leads to thin spots on the scalp. And, there are usually also signs of muscle weakness
and fatigue. Some of the other symptoms that are common include:
Hoarseness of the voice
Brittle fingernails
Slow heart rate
Constipation
Lower body temperature
Depression
Decreased libido
Causes of Decreased Thyroid Production
This condition has several causes. The first of which is a deficiency of iodine. Iodine is found in
shellfish, shrimp, salt, and other foods. If a person does not get enough of these foods, they will
not receive enough iodine that the thyroid needs to function at its best. Also, if a woman who is
pregnant does not get enough iodine, her baby can bee born with a deficiency in iodine as well.
Another cause of hypothyroidism

Count Malvolio
In the play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare there are many rising conflicts that occur,
Malvolio being the cause of a great deal. His naive personality plays a key role is the way he acts
towards others, more specifically, Olivia. Malvolio s naive personality reflects on his devotion
towards Olivia, he cares deeply for her and so he is dedicated and will do about anything he is told.
Although Malvolio feels one way towards Olivia, she does not feel the same way. Malvolio s

Analytical Essay The Large Ant
In 2012, 16259 people in the United States were murdered and another 1.8 million people were sent
to the hospital due to assault. Humans resorting to violence and harming others is a daily
occurrence, but why? Is it in our nature, are we instinctively violent, and why is it that these acts
are not only happening in the United States but worldwide. Although the average person does not
leave their home planning on harming somebody that day, under the right circumstances almost
every single person in this world will commit an act of violence. Sometimes these acts are

Research on the Communicative Skills of Dogs
We all learn from one another and wolves, like dogs, can learn from us as well. Dogs are more
skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals
like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to
determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of
domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf
ancestors (Bates 2013).
The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many
different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves
watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural
transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a
den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders.
Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one
occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food,
fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial
selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. The objective of these studies was to
answer the question whether their roots were present before dogs became man s best friend or

arm range is typically six feet long. The Giant Pacific octopus is reddish brown and on average
is 132 pounds. The body of the octopus is bulb shaped and contains all of the its organs and its
mouth. The mouth is found on the underside, where the arms converge. In the center of the
mouth is a beak that is made of keratin, the same material that is in the human fingernail and the
rhinoceros horn. The beak is used for killing prey and to bite food as it eats. The Giant Pacific
octopus can be found in Northern Pacific waters. Its range is from southern California to Alaska
s coast. Then it can to travels down the tail of the Aleutian Islands and west, over to Japan s
coast, before going down near Korea. They prefer cool water temperatures, about 60 degrees
fahrenheit or lower. The water depth in which they live ranges from the shallow, coastal waters
to about 330 feet deep. The Pacific octopus is a benthic creature. The Giant Pacific octopus lives
under rocks, in caves, and under man made objects. They rarely stay in one of their dens for over
a month and choose locations that have many entrances. To eat prey, the Giant Pacific octopus are
equipped with an organ called the salivary papilla which is covered with small teeth. This allows

Conditions Warranty
INTRODUCTION: The Sales of Goods Act 1893 provides the definition of condition and
warranty . During the period between 1893 to 1962 both condition and warranty was generally
accepted that they were the only two types of terms which assist in identifying the breaches
which entitled the injured party to terminate the contract. In the turning point of 1962, a new
type of term intermediate term brought about a whole new page into the Law of Contract. Hong
Kong Fir Shipping Co. Ltd vs Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd is the key case which owns the credit for

Manipulation In Rumpelstiltskin Spin
No matter what version of the Rumpelstiltskin tale you are reading the central element of the story
is spinning. Yet, what if there is another way to look at this term spinning ? On a basic level
spinning is the art of taking an object and manipulating it into becoming something else. Not only
does Rumpelstiltskin spin, or manipulate, straw into gold, but nearly all of the characters spin lies
for personal gain. In this story no one acts without promise of reward. I intend to show through an
in depth analysis of the Grimm brothers final version of the tale that what is truly being spun
throughout the story is manipulation, particularly male manipulation of the female. When closely

straw into gold . These are the first words the Miller utters in the story. One will come to find that
first words in this story are quite telling. In fact, there are several things in these lines which merit
critical analysis. For example, we meet the primary characters (minus Rumpelstiltskin of course),
but none of them are actually given names. The characters identities are presented to us in terms of
their socioeconomic statuses. The first character we are introduced to is the Miller. Now, millers
were never considered especially wealthy people, but the Grimms wanted to make sure that this
fact did not go unnoticed. So, not only do they identify him according to his meager occupation,
but they also explicitly define him as poor . This statement is then followed with a negation, a but .
The Miller is poor, but he has a beautiful daughter. By introducing the daughter in this way the

The Effect Of Peer Pressure On Children
Just take one sip, your half drunk best friend says. You know you do not want to, but you are
hesitant to say no, why? Children and teenagers everywhere are being constantly pestered by
their peers to do what is cool in order to fit in. Unfortunately, some people will cave in to the
enticing offer in order to keep their friends and a popular reputation. This is known as peer pressure.
Peer pressure is the influence an individual feels from a personor group of people around his/her
age to do something he/she would not consider trying. In addition, peer pressure provides a
number of negative effects such as, tempting an individual to try bad activities, causing him/her to
rely too much on the group of people, and leading a person poor choices. There are a surplus
amount of negative effects peer pressure can provide for adolescents around the world. One
negative effectof peer pressure is it will tempt an individual to try bad activities. To begin, by
being with immature friends that encourage wrong activities, they can influence he/she to make
those bad decisions. Most teenagers what to be popular or fit in, so they feel obligated to do what
is favored amongst their peers. Even though teenagers know it is the wrong decision, they are still
hesitant to say no. In addition, once an individual tried a bad activity, it starts to become a habit.

Racial Barriers In Baseball
Introduction Over the first few decades after the breaking of the racial barrier in baseball by
Jackie Robinson the number of African American in professional baseball stayed on a rise,
unfortunately the numbers over the most recent decades have been going the opposite direction.
The color barrier was broken in Major League Baseball(MLB) by Robinson on April 15, 1947 when
he was called to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke way for African Americans in
baseballand they took advantage of it as the number increased every year after. The purpose of
this study is to find out why the percentage of African Americans playing in the MLB has been
on a steady decline the past few decades. This percentage is dropping every year and there does
not seem to be much of a change in the future. While the numbers of African American
professionals are much higher in football and basketball and not at risk of dropping soon, what
is it that is making baseballs number slowly diminish. In this research I will examine numbers
that have been put together and analyze interviews that were performed with some professionals
as well as highly accredited sports journalist. Although I will focus on professional baseball I
will also provide some insight on youth baseball to see what the future may hold as far as the
possibility of another increase in the percentage of African Americans in the pros. As the years
gone on there has also been an increase in latin baseball players throughout professional baseball,
as well as a decrease in whites. Some questions regarding the topic are what is causing the decline
in the percentage? What initiative is being taken by Major League Baseball to help try to increase
the percentages? What is significant about baseball compared to other sports (football, basketball)
that makes them different and less attractive to African American youth?
Literature Review In all articles read all journalist mentions the same thing. One major contributor
to the decline in African Americans in baseball is because of the cost to be good. Most of the
highly talented players now come from travel ball and not your stand park rec. league. To compete

Abstract
In this paper, an artificial food dye will be made to mimic the color of Full Throttle. To
determine what food dye are needed, Full Throttle will be put through a spectrometer to
determine what wavelengths are absorbed. Specific wavelengths absorbed will correspond to
specific colors absorbed. It was determined that yellow 5 and yellow 6 will be used to make our
artificial food dye to mimic Full Throttle. Using Beer s Law, it was determined that a
concentration of 0.0000236 moles of Yellow 5 and a concentration of 0.0001494 moles of yellow

When making the absorption graphs for the yellow 5 and yellow 6, the lines of best fit were
giving numbers that were extremely small. After help from the TA, it was found that our
concentrations used where twice as small of a concentration compared to what was actually used
for Full Throttle. To correct this the molarity s were multiplied by ВЅ. For example when finding
the x value in our equation y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. To correct this, that
number is multiplied by 0.5 to get the correct value of 3.64*10^ 5. This new number is what was
used in the equation c1v1=c2v2. After the solution was made to mimic Full Throttle it was
discovered that the beverage only had one food dye. The experiment was intended to have a
beverage with two food dyes present. To make up for this, orange PowerAde was used and the
experiment was repeated for orange PowerAde. The solution was made for the orange
PowerAde and its absorption graph was compared to that of the diluted orange PowerAde
solution. Comparing the two graphs, have the same peaks although these peaks are at different
absorption levels. Since the two graphs have the same peaks it is safe to assume that the same
food dyes are present in both solutions. It is important to note that there are two peaks in each
graph despite only seeing one peak. This is because both peaks are located so close to each other
that they merge as one overall peak. When comparing the two

Khoisan Superiority
For a long time South Africa was inhabitable until a group known as the Khoisan traveled there,
where they lived for many years as the superior group until the group known as the Afrikaners
came and took that superiority. A Little while after the Afrikaners came is when things really
started to change. They started developing superiority over the Khoisan. Some reasons for this
are that they started to develope an early sense of dominance over the Khoisan and The Battle of
Blood River. The Afrikaners developed an early state of dominance by taking land and cattle
from the Khoisan. This was because when Jan van Riebeeck had to lay of men they needed
somewhere to live so he gave the men 28 acres of land that was used by the Khoisan. As a result
Khoisan tried to fight back ,but didn t stand a chance against the Afrikaners who had much better
weapons like guns. The Khoisan then realized that they wouldn t stand a chance and that they

How Does Charles Darnay Affect The Character Of Sydney Carton
How has the introduction of Charles Darnay s character impacted Sydney Carton s perception of
himself ? (Are Carton s realizations shown publicly, reflecting his true nature?)
The introduction of Charles Darnay s character drastically affected Carton s mental state of
character. Besides realizing the fact that they look so much similar, Carton found himself
unable to like Darnay s character. To Carton, Darnay becomes his constant reminder of what he
could have been, What a change you have made in yourself! A good reason for taking to a man,
that he shows you what you have fallen away from, and what you might have been! Change
places with him, and would you have been looked at by those blue eyes as he was. ( Dickens 89)
In the presence of his character, he begins to realize and think about his flaws thus accepting this
better version of his doppelgänger. What he is exposed to in his life is this frequent state of
being in the shadows. This is shown with Mr. Stryver who has Carton under his hands. Now with

Procter Gamble s Impact On The World
On May 6, 2010 the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell nearly 1,000 points in five minutes. That
means the Dow lost about $1 Trillion in market value at a rate of $3,333,333,333.33 per second.
Strangely, 30 minutes later the market rebounded gaining back nearly all that was lost. Who s to
blame for such an event? A better question may be, What is to blame? The media immediately
blamed high frequency trading. It took the government three months of research with a team of
more than 20 investigators to achieve an inconclusive result with little to no forward guidance as to
how to prevent it from happening again. Why? Because high frequency trading is not illegal and it
is not unethical, it s just plain complicated.
During the Flash Crash, as the media coined it, individuals lost millions, companies lost billions
and stock prices had essentially bottomed. According to the Financial Times, ...Procter Gamble s
share price fell 37 percent at one point (Legacy, 2013) and shares in management consultancy firm
Accenture...dropped from $40 to 1 CENT (Legacy, 2013). For these things to have happened, it is

There is a method of stock trading known as Algorithmic Trading. As the name implies, algorithms
are used to make buy and sell orders in the stock market. A subset of Algorithmic Trading, known
as High Frequency Trading (HFT), was blamed by the media for the Flash Crash.

readers aware of how the perception of women in the art so that they will recognize the evolution

Typically, most animals of the class mammalia typically have relatively less durable outer dermal
layers than other classes of animal, such as reptiles. It can be seen particularly in humans (Homo

Hall 2006) The mechanism in which armadillos use their shell to protect themselves is also very
different than how a turtle would use its shell. The tiles of the osteoderms are connected to each
other via collagen fibers known as Sharpeys fibers (Fig. 2). These fibers add tensile strength to
the shell, allowing for the shell to be more durable, while also not requiring it to be entirely rigid.
(Chen et al. 2011) This, alongside the fact that keratinized scales cover the osteoderms creates a
shell that is hard, yet also flexible. (Rhee et al. 2011) These boney tiles also have the advantage of

Choomsky s Theory Of UG
The hypothesis is aligned to Chomsky s theory of UG. In simple words: Communication is the
meaningful exchange of information between two or more participants (human and non human)
through sounds, gestures, movements, etc., those things constituent isolated signals to transmit
very specific messages. On the other hand, Languageis the human capacity for acquiring and using
complex systems of communication. The term Universal Grammaris the name that Noam Chomsky
gives, as the very name implies, to those grammatical features that are shared by all derivations of
human language.
The ability to use grammatically accurate sentences is a natural process and can be done without
being taught. It is part of human cognitive ability because UG itself determines what abilities are
innate and what are shared or experience by human. UG defines that if a child is brought up under

This is an evident example of his theory: humans are natural beings and have undergone evolution
(UG) common to all humans. One way to approach this concept is posing a hypothetical question:
Why does a child learn the language the way it does?
If we come back to Plato s problem: the problem of finding and explanation for how a child acquires
language though the child does not receive explicit instruction and the input a child receives is
limited, we will be able to identify a limited environmental stimulus referred to a Poverty of
stimulus. This means that natural language grammar is unlearnable given the relatively limited
data available to children learning a language, and therefore that this knowledge is supplemented
with some sort of innate linguistic capacity. And also humans are born with a specific
representational adaptation for language that both funds and limits their competence to acquire
specific types of natural languages over the course of their cognitive development and linguistic

The Gang Member Of The Eight Tray Criminal Hoover Essay
Frank Gottie is one of the most well known gang member of The Eight Tray Criminal Hoover in
Memphis. Gottie believes that gangs are becoming to spin out of control, that it needs to be a
solution to gang activity. On July 10, 2016 Gottie says I ain t never seen heaven before, but it was
like a Memphis heaven everybody was on one accord , if the gangs could be on the same page for
Black Lives Matter (Jones and Fretland, 2016) . Why can t it happen for the youth? Ar tavius
Brown was 18 years old and joined a gangcalled the Pirus the Blood Alliance. Brown joined gang
activity in South Memphis because he saw people with the cars, with the money (Goggans, 2014).
Brown was put with the ramifications of having a gun shoot out at Central High school, but the
judge saw something within Brown and gave him a second chance.
Why are these stories relevant? These stories are relevant to the gang problem because if a gang
member, Frank Gottie, sees that the gang problem in Memphis has to stop then it should be
addressed. The community should want a change so the generation in Memphis doesn t fall into the
typical stereotypes, they should want more for the future youth to come. Everyone(the youth) won t
have that second chance like the Memphian Ar tavius Brown, all the youth won t have that judge
that will see the better side of the situation. The community needs to get more involved with the
youth, their kids, and family; so the gang problem won t become worse than it is becoming.

Monologue Script Analysis
Vagina Monologue Script Response
1.Describe the physical world of the play (Answer should be about 200 words):
The physical world in the play is very normal. Given that the monologue is taken from accounts of
various women from all over the world, there is no real thought of the physical world. The play
focuses on the internal emotions and thoughts of a broad spectrum of women, it s hard to really
pinpoint elements such as time, interior, and exterior. I would say that there isn t a constraint for
time, the play thoroughly details the response of several women as they are being questioned about
their anatomy and their feelings towards it. The play transitions from woman to woman and tells
separate stories that all become intertwined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the author was also trying to debunk the stigma that society has held for centuries, which
teaches that women should be private and repressed about their sexuality and their vaginas.
3.What changes in this world? (Answers should be about 200 words):
The first image in the play details a group of women who are nervous and uncertain about what to
expect when discussing their vaginas. The first image provides the reader with a setting that
presents the women as shy and weary of what the outcome of this conversation is going to be. The
final image is when the author, Eve Ensler, begins to realize that the vagina is similar to the human
heart in many ways, and this helps her come to grips with her previous insecurities. The central
image was when one of the women recounts how a sexual encounter with a man she had relations
with helped her find her confidence and self love for herself and her vagina. The central image
helps bridge the gap that the women had in the beginning of the play and in the finale. The central
image was necessary to connect the first and last images of the play to show the reader that self
love and acceptance are a continuous journey and everyone has a different encounter or experience
that leads them to that realization.
4.What changes in you? (Answers should be about 200 words):
After reading the monologue, I had more of an understanding of the women and their feelings.
Initially, the play was very difficult to follow and a little

Present Job Analysis of a Clerk
I am a clerk one employed at Public Health Services Department for almost five years; I was
quite satisfied and happy doing my current job. One aspect of my job is assisting in the
processing of Food Badge. Recently I have gotten dissatisfied with my job; reason being the
process of persons applying for their food badges has changed without really consulting me being
that I am normally in the forefront facing customers each day. Due to this sudden changemy job has
become a bit challenging for me to do it on my own. In light of this, I would have highlighted the
issues I am being faced with by the new development put in place to my supervisors and the
persons who are responsible for the change. To no avail nothing was done to aid my plea.
This new change which has been implemented had made me very frustrated and not feeling
enthusiastic about working when the day comes. My disposition on a day to day basis is not a
pleasant one. I know to myself that this is not a productive attitude I should be having because it
can have adverse effects being the face of the organization as it reflects my attitude and the kind of
service I will provide to customers. In addition to that, colleagues maybe offended by my attitude, in
which can create a negative work environment for them. Hence I have changed my perspective in
regards to my attitude, and focusing on the goal that I am striving towards and enjoying the work
rather than being frustrated.

The Discovery Of Apollo 11
Since ancient times, men have gazed upon the cosmic ocean above our heads wondering what
could be out there. In the last 2 centuries human kind has made a huge leap in technology and
science, from horse drawn carriages to spaceships capable to send us into space. What used to be
considered science fiction now is considered science fact. In 1969, Apollo 11 was the first manned
mission to land on the moon, opening the path towards the stars. One problem that we encounter is
distance. The closest starto Earth, beside the Sun, is Alpha CentauriB, being situated at 4.24 light
years away. This means if we were traveling at the speed of light, we would need 4 years to get to
the star, but the fastest man made object is the Voyager 1, a space probe launched by NASA in
1977, reaching the speed of 17 kilometers per second (compared to 300,000 kilometers per second,
the speed of light). This means it will take over 74,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri B. In order
to reach stars in a more effective way, we need to reach higher speeds.
According to Einstein s theory of relativity nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. This
is because the mass of an object that is moving with the speed of light is becoming infinite,
requiring infinite energy to propel it, which is obviously impossible. Even at 80% of the speed of
light, mass is becoming a big problem.
One day, in Earth s distant future, there will be a Last day of the Earth scenario. Eventually, the sun
will become a

Eva Braun Research Paper
Life of Eva Braun Eva Braun was one of Hitler s strongest supporters and played an interesting
part in Hitler s life. Eva and Hitler had a mysterious relationship. She played an important role in
his inner circle and as a loyal supporter. In the end, what was behind their suicides? Little
information is known about Eva s childhood. Hitler and Eva meet in Munich in 1929 when she
was a model and assistant to Hitler s personal photographer. She was 17 years old when they met.
About two years later they started to see each other more and more. They were rarely seen
together in public and didn t get married until the last 40 hours of their lives. The article Eva Braun
says: She entered his household in 1936, although their relationship was kept secret (P.1). Many
people believe that the relationship was just for show, but Hitler s long time secretary, Christa
Schroeder, admitted in an interrogation in 1945 that Hitler had treated Braun as his wife.... Show

Although she was not a Nazi, she supported Hitler s views and beliefs. According to Heike G.
Görtemaker, a German historian and author, he states in, She Was Not A Passive Bystander,
that Eva became a well known person in Hitler s inner circle. But the sources available now
show that Eva Braun has to be seen as part of Hitler s inner circle and not apart from it. Her life
should not be called lost or tragic. She wanted to be at Hitler s side, and fought very hard, with all
means, to achieve that position (P.

The Physicality Of Love In Astrophil And Stella By Sir...
The poets of the Renaissance, however, did not neglect the physicality of love, and wrote about
passion in several of their sonnets. As critic Robert H. Deming asserts, commenting John Donne s
Elegies, Love of a celestial kind is love of the virtuous and beautiful woman ... who is the first step
up the Platonic ladder to loveof an absolute, static kind. But this love is fit only for souls ...
hardly fit for bodies (396). An example of the importance of physical desire is given in the
sequence of 108 sonnets of Astrophil and Stella by Sir Philip Sidney. The protagonists of the
sonnets are Astrophil, a young boy, and Stella, the girl he loves. Her name refers to a celestial
dimension since the word stella means star in English. Nevertheless,... Show more content on

These poems are an invitation to seize the moment that men make to women. Readers need not
be surprised, for also the theme of carpe diem was very popular among ancient authors, like
Horace and Virgil. Therefore, Renaissance poets, with their classical taste, were fond of this
theme and used it in their sonnets. Strange as it may seem, the poems of carpe diem, too, talk
about love, but they abandon the idealized aspect of love as a yearning of the soul for higher
realities, and mainly focus on passion and sex. These literary works are also significant because
they give an insight of a male centric society, where the man is not a courteous knight anymore,
but he is a person with deep bodily instincts that want to satisfy his appetites. One of the best
examples of these sonnets is To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick. The key
part of the poem is the first stanza, when the poet tells the virgins that this same flower that smiles
today / Tomorrow will be dying (757). He suggests using their time while they still can and
profiting of that age ... when youth and blood are warmer

Society and Technology in The Anthem Essay
Now a days, when we think of the future, we picture flying cars, and being able to transport. In
the novel The Anthem society and technology as we know it had been driven to an entirely new
direction. The characters in the society do not have the right to speak freely nor do anything that
they wish. They lost all of their freedom, they couldn t even think for themselves. The society had
to think as a whole, the word I did not exist in their vocabulary. The society is very balanced, and
everyone fears the thoughtof even questioning it. Up until one man known as Equality 7 25271
wants the answers to all of his questions. The novel is expressed as Equality 7 2521 s diary. All of
his thoughts and feelings are shown in his writing, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the many benefits of having the novel written in a diary format, is that you get to really
understand what the character feels about his surroundings. Most of the other people in the society
don t notice their setting nor do they have knowledge of anything else. Equality 7 2521 describes
his surroundings as being small and dark, all the buildings which are plain mark the housing of
several different people. All the citizens of this society are over worked and tired yet they have no
intention of complaining because they fear the punishment. This novel would not be the same if it
was written in any other form other then a diary, as well as if the novel was written in first
person. It would not have to same effect on the readers. There are so many diaries, but all are
written in the first person, so The Anthem is unique. We get a better understanding when Equality
7 2521 writes in third person, without it, we would only hear his thoughts and observations
instead of the ones he has gathered from others. To illustrate, when he first meets Liberty 5 3000,
the readers were able to pick up some signs that she shows, these prove that she was a bit
interested in him. But Equality 7 2521 in the other hand found himself very attracted to her, and as
if to not make any obvious communication, he decides to admire her from afar and she does the
same to him. Equality later starts to call

One positive aspect is the instillation of hope. Solomon (2004) explains that the instillation of hope
occurs through positive self disclosure. This positive self disclosure demonstrates to the service
recipient that it is possible to go from being controlled by the illness to gaining some control over
the illness, from being a victim to being the hero of one s own life journey (Davidson, Bellamy,
Guy, Miller, 2012, p 125). In addition to instilling hope, certified peer specialists can be seen as
role models. As Davidson et al. (2012) explain this role modeling function can be expanded to
include self care of one s illness and exploring new ways of using experimental knowledge or street
smarts in negotiating day to day life which can include dealing with limited income resources,
unstable housing, overcoming stigma, discrimination and trauma. In addition to the above
mentioned benefits, the use of certified peer specialist may also be associated with reducing the
overall cost of mental health treatment. Research by Chinman, Weingarten, Stayner, Davidson

  • 2. Robert Frost s The Bearer Of Evil Things Sabrina Carpenter says that it s like breathing in the salty air on a private island just for me. Huey Lewis and the News says that it will Make one man weep, make another man sing. Both songs about how love makes you feel and how powerful love actually is. Singers, writers, and poets have talked about lovesince anyone can remember. Everyone feels love and were the power of love has affected everyone. In The Bearer of Evil Things Robert Frost uses imagery, the main character s choices and the acceptance of the main character to show that love leads people astray but in the end always saves them. Frost starts out by setting up a man, the bearer of evil things, on a journey to do the obvious: bear evil things. But Frost says that he remembers or realizes that evil tidings are dangerous. The man comes to a parting and has to make a choice. Frost writes, Where one road led to the throne/And one went off to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frost uses this to show that love will make people not think twice. Frost writes, Took him home to her bower,/ Or he might be running yet/ She taught him her tribe s religion (lines 16 18). What Frost is saying here is that the women did not even think about taking him in because she fell in love with him. The man doesn t think twice about continuing running whether because of exhaustion or love for the girl. Then the man decides to adopt the race and Frost says , They had both of them had their reasons/For stopping where they had stopped. (lines 39 40) The reason they stopped was because of love. The man stopped because he fell in love with the tribe and the woman. • 3. Analysis Of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, By C. E.... My hopes in The Girl that Played with Fire, are equal to or higher than my hopes were for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The beginning of this book hasn t necessarily brought as much mystery to the text as the first book did, but it is just the beginning of the novel. There have been different items throughout the book that may have been simple items to some, but as I read I tried to pick apart the meaning and importance of them being in the book. Many people hang pressed flowers on their walls and next to pictures, but to Vanger there is a whole different meaning that constantly brings him back to before Harriet disappeared. Though the pressed flowers are from the first book in the series, I feel it is crucial in the building blocks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned in the previous chapter, Lisbeth blackmails her guardian, which made him about as happy as an English teacher correcting Math homework.в єпёЋ After this, the Lisbeth s guardian, Bjurman, intends to not only blackmail her, but intends to kill her as payment for what she had done to him. While searching for information that Bjurman can use against her, he finds a notebook that has notes written in it talking about the evil thing that happened to Lisbeth when she was only thirteen. Though it does not specify in the journal what the evil thing is, Bjurman notices that it happened right before Lisbeth started getting into trouble with the system. This is why the notebooks that he finds are very important, because without them he may not be able to find out what had happened to Lisbeth as a child. In the prologue of the book, the author writes from the perspective of a thirteen year old girl who had been kidnapped, tortured, and assumably raped. The reader can link the event in the prologue to the evil thing that happened to Salander when she was thirteen, but cannot be sure until the author writes down the connection on paper. The notebooks will most likely come into play again later in the book and help find solutions to the unanswered questions both the characters and the readers have about Lisbeth s ... • 4. Entrepreneurial Orientation In The Apple Computer Company Entrepreneurial orientation is a key concept when organizations are creating strategies to do something new and take advantage of opportunities that other organizations cannot exploit (Ketchen Short, 2017). It can be defined as an organizational level strategic management, which includes characteristic such as: autonomy, risktaking, competitive aggressiveness, innovativeness and pro activeness. When major brands Apple and Nike implement entrepreneurial orientation successfully, they re able to achieve high performance and quality products through innovative techniques that allows them to maintain market dominance. We ll go into further detail discussing how both these companies effectively executed entrepreneurial orientation to achieve such success; starting with some background information. Apple s history dates to 1974 when two men, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak had a vision that inexpensive home computers would soon be in demand. Two years later, Jobs and Wozniak built their first computer in Jobs family garage, they named it Apple I. On April 1, 1976, the Apple Computer Company was established. Nike began as an enterprise in Oregon with its founder, sports enthusiast Phil Knight. In 1962, Nike started under the name Blue Ribbon Sports. During this time, the athletic shoe industry was dominated by the Adidas and Puma companies. Knight recognized there was segment of serious athletes that had specialized needs that were not being addressed by the major companies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Luck Of Ginger Coffey Essay In Brian Moore s The Luck of Ginger Coffey, the city of Montreal is depicted as being in a kind of stasis, its landscape and inhabitants repeatedly described as frozen and stagnant: Four forty five. Office workers, waiting release as the minute hand moved slowly towards the hour, looked at the darkness beyond their windows and saw edges of frosting begin to mist the panes (Moore117). Despite this passage s emphasis on stillness, however, it nevertheless features two references to time . Throughout Moore s novel, attention is repeatedly paid to specific times or time frames, complicating the underlying image of Montrealas a city averse to progress. Considering the subjectiveness of the third person limited narration, it seems best to examine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The profession of the contemporary newspaper typist saw a change in corporate culture wherein the clock became a powerful object, owned only by the foreman and governing the employees. It seems, however, that Moore s depiction of time is more appropriately a reflection of Ginger s fixation on the myth of the new world as a land of boundless opportunity. Indeed, the clock does seem to be independent of the diurnal cycle: As [Coffey] started off, the sun moved west, unadmitted by the pall clouds which all day had curtained the frozen river and the city islanded within it . . . Four forty five (117). This image of the sun being blocked from the city by clouds demonstrates the city s apparent ignorance for the sun s position in the sky, yet the passage continues on, repeatedly referring to the passing minutes as Coffey makes his way to the Tribune. One thing that time does not seem so independent from, however, is the lives of the office workers in the financial district, waiting release as the minute hand moved slowly towards the hour (117). At five o clock . . . down came the office workers, spilling out into the streets (117); at five thirty . . . [another] policeman . . . invited Coffey to cross [the street] (117). In this passage, the connection between time and nature has been completely severed and time has become reappropriated as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Aristotle Virtues There are two kinds of virtues: moral and intellectual. Intellectual virtues are learned by experience and time, whereas moral virtues are learned by habits and practice. Virtues are not given to us at birth (nature); we have to make our own effort to train ourselves to be virtuous. In the next few paragraphs, Aristotleemphasizes how pleasure and pain play an important role in how our moral virtues are developed. To explain he uses an example of a glutton and a temperate person and the pleasure/pain of food. Then he talks about how many people could be just but that doesn t necessarily mean that they are virtuous. He proceeds to talk about his three criteria to determine if a person is virtuous. First criteria is virtuous people know that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Science Of Determination The Figure Of The Earth CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Research Background: Geodesy is considered, according to Bruns (1878) and Helmert (1884), as the science of determination the figure of the earth as well as its gravitational field. This covers the basic general form of the earth as a flattened rotational ellipsoid and the visible topographic surface resulted from gravitational attraction of uneven inner masses. Thus, physical and geometric aspects are inseparably correlated (Moritz 2015). In geodesy, the figure of the earth refers to the figure extracted physically or mathematically from the true surface of the earth (Moritz 1990). This includes the geoid and the reference ellipsoid along with the normal ellipsoid. While the geoid can be interpreted as the physical figure of the earth, the reference ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical figure of the earth, and the normal ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical and physical figure of the earth. However, the reference ellipsoid and the normal ellipsoid are a close approximation of the geoid. Hence, the figure of the earth studied in geodesy mainly refers to the figure of the geoid (Lu et al. 2014). Geoid is defined as an equipotential surface of the earth s gravity potential, where the mean surface of the oceans particularly forms a part (Hofmann Wellenhof and Moritz 2005). On oceans, the geoid agrees with the mean sea surface, more precisely, with a calm ocean surface subjected only to the force of gravity, which is assumed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. La Cordoba Case Study As the Sandinistas adjusted to their new position of power, they made decisions that put their own political agenda ahead of the welfare of Nicaraguan citizens. They controlled everything from menu prices to water to electricity. Sandinista policies angered the newly instituted Regan administration in Washington, and they were determined to overthrow them. The counter revolution offered the perfect opportunity and the CIA agreed to secretly fund the contras(over $15 million between 1981 1982). Argentina, with its efficient and brutal military regime, was the perfect candidate. Along with Honduras, who agreed to let the contras build bases on their border and receive supplies for them, the three countries formed La Tripartita. However, many ... Although Pastora had often been seen as the the head of the FSLN during the war, he cut his ties with them in 1981 and that same year declared war against them. In the end, the search for a new leader came down to Daniel Ortega and Tomas Borge. The two men s characters could not be more different. Borge was seen as radical, and even though he was not a skilled fighter, he was a great conspirator and skilled in the black arts. He was also the only one of the Sandinista commandates to be tortured by Somoza; this inspired his own security system, which centered around El Chipote, the infamous short term interrogation center and prison, where many counter revolutionaries were held prisoner and questioned. Daniel Ortega, on the other hand, was more moderate with a long history of defying the Somoza regime, beginning in his teenage years. He was jailed for 7 years for his revolutionary activities and was one of the political prisoners released after the 1974 Christmas raid. But the real reason that Ortega ultimately rose to power, becoming the president of Nicaragua in 1985, was because none of the other commandates could ever fully trust Borge and he could never fully trust ... • 9. Poverty Of The United States Essay More than 800 million people in the world are malnourished, 777 million of them are from the developing world (Raphel, S., 2014). Poverty is an issue that must be addressed to the population loud and clear or everyone will end up suffering. There are many families trying to survive and live from paycheck to paycheck. Unfortunately, there are some families that are unable to support himself or herself or any family member. One important key issue of povertyin the United States is inequality. Many Americans blame the poor people for their own fate but you should never judge a book by its cover. There can be many reasons why an individual or families end up in poverty. For example, low wage jobs, discrimination and social inequality, vulnerability to natural disasters, war and political instability. Another big issue we face today is child poverty. This is a very critical issue because these young children are our future. If we let these children live in poverty, there is a higher chance they will drop out of school, look for work in order to support their family, or give up in life. Children in poverty are becoming the poorest age group in the United Sates. According to the National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP), a U.S. family of three living in deep poverty survives on an annual income below $9,276, or less than $9.00 a day per family member. The struggles and challenges this diverse group of people possessed throughout time to bring about change prove important to the history of the world in many aspects and regards. Archetypes In The Odyssey And O Brother Where Art Thou Among the plethora of archetypes that present themselves in Homer s The Odyssey and the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? is the character of the Blind Prophet. This character is an older man who has the gift of foresight, yet lacks the gift of physical sight. In the ancient epic poem, the hero Odysseus travels to the Underworld during his time on Circe s isle to consult the blind seer Tiresias. In the film, Ulysses Everett and his hunting group of companions encounter a nameless blind soothsayer upon the railroad tracks after they first escape incarceration.Tiresias warns Odysseusof the trials ahead on his journey, including the Sirens and the monstrous Scylla, giving advice on how to best surpass them. This role is filled by Calypso in the epic, a gorgeous nymph whose love for Odysseus makes him her captive for seven years. Ulysses s trek to his homeland is significantly altered by the appearance of the Sirens down at the river, three women who try to capture the men for the bounty through physical attraction. The Sirens of Homer s work are a challenge along the hero s travels, but they do not play such a profound role like Calypso. The nymph s love for Odysseus was true, her heart fixated on the hero that landed upon her isle. The Sirens of Ulysses s tale used sexual temptation to drag the men in, their intentions driven by greed. Both Odysseus and Ulysses face these women as their sensuous powers delay them from reaching their treasured goal: home. The presence of these characters helps establish the protagonists humanity, demonstrating how love and temptation also linger within the hearts of heroes. The contrast between the motivation of Calypso and the film s Sirens shows two distinct characters: the temptress moved by love and the temptress moved by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Anselm s Ontological Argument On The Existence Of God Anselm s Ontological argument sets out to not only prove God s existence, but to show that God s existence is self evident. Similar to other ontological arguments, it uses a priori knowledge to argue its validity, meaning that the propositions made are derived from internal reasoning instead of sense experience. The argument begins with Anselm defining the term God as that, than which nothing greater can be conceived (pg.26). Although simple, once this term is accepted Anselm believes he has successfully proven the existenceof God. This becomes clearer with further analysis. If God is a being that, than which nothing greater can be conceived, it naturally follows that God would possess all properties of greatness. An example of this would be omnipotence. Omnipotence would be such a property because it is greater to have ultimate power than to have limited power, therefore, God being the greatest conceivable being would possess the property of omnipotence. Likewise, it is greater for something to exist in both reality and the mind, than to exist only in the mind. Thus, just as omnipotence was ascribed to God so must the property of existence, for if God did not exist, he would be lacking a great making property, and consequently would be only a great being, but not the greatest conceivable being. Existence being am inherent property of God s essence is why Anselm believes God s existence to be self evident. However, as Anselm states the fool has said in his heart, There ... Within this conference space and CAS as a whole, I had finally found a home for my interests in the decolonial politics of transnational and postcolonial feminism, politics of race and culture, and narratives about animals agency and resistance. My presentation, A Transnational Feminist Critique of the U.S. Slaughterhouse System, discussed how both the animals killed in slaughterhouses and the undocumented workers employed there are exploited by animal agribusiness and relegated to the margins of society. Inspired by Sara Ahmed s concept of the stranger, a paradoxical figure who is perceived as strange due to their race and otherness, I argued that human and nonhuman others are perceived as unlawful intruders due to both racism and speciesism. Thus, they are expelled from the white, human, and civilized community to maintain social hierarchies and private property. The presentation included a slide of a cow escaping from a slaughterhouse into an urban neighborhood. Showing the complexity of human animal encounters, the cow, who was later named Molly, was both removed as an unlawful intruder from the community into which she fled, but also invoked public affection (a ballad honoring her can be found on youtube). A decolonial method of studying animal resistance attempts to read documents from the perspective of nonhuman animals such as Molly and recognizes the centrality of capitalist globalization and white human supremacy in oppressive social ... • 16. Symptoms And Treatment Of The Thyroid The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland positioned on the front of the neck. Its job is to produce thyroid hormones that the body needs for the endocrine, metabolic, and other systems of the body. Sometimes, it can be affected by cancer, infections, or disease. This will cause it to not function at its best, which means it will either produce too much or too little thyroidhormones. When it is too little, this is called hypothyroidism. Symptoms Low thyroid production affects the entire body. Initially, it makes a person feel lethargic and exhausted, even when they have gotten plenty of rest. Cold weather or rooms will become intolerable. Most people gain weight from the decrease in their metabolism too. Their hair will fall out, which leads to thin spots on the scalp. And, there are usually also signs of muscle weakness and fatigue. Some of the other symptoms that are common include: Hoarseness of the voice Brittle fingernails Slow heart rate Constipation Lower body temperature Depression Decreased libido Causes of Decreased Thyroid Production This condition has several causes. The first of which is a deficiency of iodine. Iodine is found in shellfish, shrimp, salt, and other foods. If a person does not get enough of these foods, they will not receive enough iodine that the thyroid needs to function at its best. Dogs are more skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf ancestors (Bates 2013). The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders. Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food, fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. Racial Barriers In Baseball Introduction Over the first few decades after the breaking of the racial barrier in baseball by Jackie Robinson the number of African American in professional baseball stayed on a rise, unfortunately the numbers over the most recent decades have been going the opposite direction. The color barrier was broken in Major League Baseball(MLB) by Robinson on April 15, 1947 when he was called to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke way for African Americans in baseballand they took advantage of it as the number increased every year after. The purpose of this study is to find out why the percentage of African Americans playing in the MLB has been on a steady decline the past few decades. This percentage is dropping every year and there does not seem to be much of a change in the future. While the numbers of African American professionals are much higher in football and basketball and not at risk of dropping soon, what is it that is making baseballs number slowly diminish. In this research I will examine numbers that have been put together and analyze interviews that were performed with some professionals as well as highly accredited sports journalist. Although I will focus on professional baseball I will also provide some insight on youth baseball to see what the future may hold as far as the possibility of another increase in the percentage of African Americans in the pros. To correct this the molarity s were multiplied by ВЅ. For example when finding the x value in our equation y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. To correct this, that number is multiplied by 0.5 to get the correct value of 3.64*10^ 5. This new number is what was used in the equation c1v1=c2v2. However, some mammals have developed independently to obtain much more durable dermal protection. Highlighted here specifically, will be the specimens within the families of Manidae and Dasypodidae. Osteoblasts secrete osteoid, which is what creates the tiled, boney structures of the osteoderms. (Vickaryous and Hall 2006) While initially grown in an even thickness, as the armadillo grows into adulthood, the dorsal surface of the osteoderms become much thicker than the ventral surface. This can be further seen in the fact that the dorsal surface will contain many of its osteoblasts, unlike the ventral surface which will have very few. (Vickaryous and Hall 2006) It is important to note, that unlike animals, such as turtles, the carapace is not directly connected the spine or ribs of the armadillo. (Vickaryous and Hall 2006) The mechanism in which armadillos use their shell to protect themselves is also very different than how a turtle would use its shell. The tiles of the osteoderms are connected to each other via collagen fibers known as Sharpeys fibers (Fig. 2). These fibers add tensile strength to the shell, allowing for the shell to be more durable, while also not requiring it to be entirely rigid. (Chen et al. 2011) This, alongside the fact that keratinized scales cover the osteoderms creates a shell that is hard, yet also flexible. This means that natural language grammar is unlearnable given the relatively limited data available to children learning a language, and therefore that this knowledge is supplemented with some sort of innate linguistic capacity. In the last 2 centuries human kind has made a huge leap in technology and science, from horse drawn carriages to spaceships capable to send us into space. What used to be considered science fiction now is considered science fact. In 1969, Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the moon, opening the path towards the stars. One problem that we encounter is distance. The closest starto Earth, beside the Sun, is Alpha CentauriB, being situated at 4.24 light years away. This means if we were traveling at the speed of light, we would need 4 years to get to the star, but the fastest man made object is the Voyager 1, a space probe launched by NASA in 1977, reaching the speed of 17 kilometers per second (compared to 300,000 kilometers per second, the speed of light). This means it will take over 74,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri B. In order to reach stars in a more effective way, we need to reach higher speeds. According to Einstein s theory of relativity nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. This is because the mass of an object that is moving with the speed of light is becoming infinite, requiring infinite energy to propel it, which is obviously impossible. Even at 80% of the speed of light, mass is becoming a big problem. One day, in Earth s distant future, there will be a Last day of the Earth scenario. Eventually, the sun will become a ... But this love is fit only for souls ... hardly fit for bodies (396). An example of the importance of physical desire is given in the sequence of 108 sonnets of Astrophil and Stella by Sir Philip Sidney. Strange as it may seem, the poems of carpe diem, too, talk about love, but they abandon the idealized aspect of love as a yearning of the soul for higher realities, and mainly focus on passion and sex. These literary works are also significant because they give an insight of a male centric society, where the man is not a courteous knight anymore, but he is a person with deep bodily instincts that want to satisfy his appetites.
