Elements Of Crime Fiction Genre
Crime fiction has set the stage for popular action and thriller movies derived from this genre. It
has not only thrilled audiences in the mid 1800s but has thrilled generations of film enthusiasts
and book worms alike. The crime fiction genre, is exactly as it sounds. It is fictional stories based
on the solving of a crime or anything to do with crime. But in order for a story to be classed as
crime fictionit must follow key elements. The best crime fiction stories show two or more of these
elements.
Agatha Christie s Murder on The Orient Express (2017), follows these key elements well;
combined with a thrilling storyline, the film makes an excellent example of crime fiction. The
story is classed as cosy crime a sub genre of crime fiction popular in England. The film is based
off of Christie s short story published in 1934. The film tells the story of a group of diverse
individuals all aboard the luxury train, the Orient Express. While aboard the train a billionaire is
murdered under mysterious circumstances. Unfortunately for the victim, amateur detective Hercule
Poirot happens to be a passenger aboard the train and is there to solve the case.
On the other end of the crime fiction genre is the hard boiled or golden age sub genre. Hard boiled
crime is more typically puzzle driven as opposed to cosy crime. Dashiell Hammett s The Creeping
Siamese is a perfect example of crime fiction once again including most of the key elements of
crime fiction. Originally

Essay Feminist Defeat and Perseverance
In Simone de Beauvoir s The Woman Destroyed, the reader is given a deep psychological portrait
of a women s failing marriage. Not only does Beauvoir show us the thoughts and confidences of
one beset by inner turmoil, she also portrays for us the marriage as it appears from the outside. The
main character in The WomanDestroyed is the narrator Monique. She has been married to her
husband Maurice for over twenty years and is trying to keep herself emotionally together after the
realization that he is having an affair. Other characters the author introduces are the couple s two
daughters, Colette and Lucienne. Colette has recently married and moved out of her parent s house.
Lucienne, the younger of the two children, has moved to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems clear that Monique embodies aspects of Beauvoir s personality. More importantly,
however, Monique is a device which allows Beauvoir to set forth her message for all modern
women. Beauvoir would prefer for us to feel that suffering does have some purpose, especially
when it comes at the hands of others. As the story is set in France in the mid part of the 20th
century, this suffering takes place in a modern marriage. We are given enough information to
realize that this modern woman doesn t see herself as an independent spirit. In fact, she chooses a
more traditional role in her marriage, one where she deals with her husband s affair by looking the
other way. Beauvoir s message to the reader relies upon this fragile state to show us how Monique
could ultimately persevere. It is by reconciling the classic with the modern that her tortured
femininity comes through. She will eventually draw for us an image of a woman caught between
these societal currents, driven mad by both.
The story can be broken into three parts, each part corresponding to a two month period during
Monique s breakdown. In the first

Bernard Palissy And The Protestant Reformation In Europe
Emily Medeiros Humanities 12 2 14
Throughout the 15th and 16th centuries in Europe there was a lot of change between the Protestant
Reformation, the Counter Reformation as well as the Renaissance. All of these changes made a
considerate impact on society and cultural production, a lot of which represented and spoke
volumes of the feelings and views that resulted from such eventful times. The intense amount of
religious sentiment that followed the Protestant Reformation and the Reformation had a large
influence upon European life and cultural production. Bernard Palissy was a French potter who
was famous for having struggled to imitate Chinese porcelain of the time. He was also a
Protestant, so quite a bit of his work had religious depictions. Palissy did not succeed in finding the

One example of this Rustic pottery is the Plate depicting the sacrifice of Isaac (de Young Legion
of Honor San Francisco Porcelain Gallery) The plate is extremely detailed, showing the Angel
coming down from the sky in furled clouds and grabbing hold of the sword that was to be used
to sacrifice Isaac as he kneels on a stone in prayer. The way the images come up off of the plate
in a three dimensional manner give the viewer the sense that the scene is playing out in front of
their eyes and was a style that Palissy must have been quite fond of using it often in his pieces.
During the 15th century, many thought the end of the world was coming. It s no surprise then that
many of the paintings of the time clearly reflect that psychological tone of the era such as The
Last Judgment: The Damned in Hell (de Young|Legion of Honor San Francisco Gallery 3) by one
anonymous artist. The painting depicts demon like creatures pulling and carrying away people who
are undoubtedly sinners, to hell. The scene is chaotic with some naked and some clothed
individuals, expressions of fear and helplessness on their faces being tormented. In the

Nasa Presentation
Nasa project Presentation Overall I think are presentation was good the reason why I think that is.
Are presentation was about the apollo missions one through eleven and what each objective was for
each mission. Each mission was an important role for nasa because they learned many things like
the mistakes they made and the new things they discovered throughout the missions. It s fascinating
how much they were able to achieve in a short period of time.
The apollo missions were like steps for the next mission. The goal at the end was to get the first
man on the moon. It took in total 6 apollo missions to be able to get a man on the moon and back.
The apollo missions where a great achievement for mankind and the united states. Getting a man on
the moon meant that we could go to so many other planets and not just the moon.
Are presentation also went into a little bit of detail on how the race began to the moon against the
other countries including the US and Russia. At the time of the race to the moon, the US and
Russia were in the middle of a cold war at the same time. What started it was the tension with
Russia and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we presented we mainly only talked about the missions of apollo and the goal of each
mission. We didn t really talk about the background of each mission like who was on the
mission and what was achieved and the small little thighs like that which we failed to explain. I
think if we had just a little bit more time we would be able to present all this information because
we were wanting to do flash cards but we did not have enough time to. I would have to say the
apollo missions are a very important to mankind because how important it was knowing that we
could actually go to another planet and be able to be able to live on the plant and maybe one day
discovering new life forms that could be just like us or very different from

A Hero In My M My Vision Of A Hero
You re stronger than you think you are. This line, spoken by the well known super hero batman,
shows the importance of going beyond what we know and using the extra strength we have. In
the movies we see people considered super heroes and from this, our view of a hero has been
shaped to believe you must have a power or special object everyone else does not have to be a
hero. My vision of a hero is someone who is selfless, someone who goes out of their way to help
others and someone who strives for the betterment of another s life. I believe that there are many
heroes in this world and becoming one occurs on accident. I will be telling you about my uncle
Paul who is a hero in my eyes and I will share his incredible story of how he accidentally became
a hero. From this person I have come to see that going out of the norm can have great benefits for
you and anyone you help.
When my aunt and uncle got married, there next few years were completely out of the norm for
that time. The normal would have been to follow the American Dream. This dream was simple,
graduate college, get married, get a job, buy a house, and start a family. This is a lifestyle that
domesticates you right away and forces the act of settling in.
The journey of my aunt and uncle does not even remotely follow the American Dream. Paul and
his wife got married young after a few years of him working, trying out college, and exploring the
country. Because they both worked hard before marriage,

The Virtue Of Forgetting Of The Digital Age
Delete The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age Viktor Mayer Schonberger
Chapter one is entitled Failing to Forget the Drunken Pirate. This chapter starts off giving
examples of real people that have professional jobs that posted something online that later on
came back and ruined their lives in some way. One person was a woman by the name of Stacey
Snyder who was a 25 year old aspiring teacher. After completing all the coursework needed to
become an educator, university officials denied her of her certificate because of a picture that
she posted on her private Myspace account. The picture was captioned drunken pirate and she
was holding a red cup, the university officials claimed her behavior was unbecoming. Although
her page was private, it was still easy for the officials to find this one image that ruined Stacey s
career. In this chapter it is stressed how easy it is to find information on anyone. Google actually
keeps individual records of people s search history, web pages browsed, and keywords that they
often search. Google used to keep these records forever, but as of recently that changed and they
are only kept for a short period of time. Also in this chapter it is stated that there is no more privacy.
Cell phones have GPS receivers which allows our location to be tracked all day everyday. Because
of this you can now even track someone through GPS from a photo they ve take. In chapter two

Pros And Cons Of LASIK Eye Surgery
A study on the correction of short and long sighted by LASIK eye surgery
Introduction
LASIK Eye Surgery (LASIK for the rest of the essay) is short for Laser Assisted In Situ
Keratomileusis Eye Surgery. Nowadays, as the rapid development and the strong advocating of the
LASIK, there are more than 100 thousand people in China take the LASIK every year. Although it
provides a huge benefit to those people wearing glasses, some people still think LASIK as the
damage to our eyes. In my opinion, LASIK outweighs the disadvantages. Next, I m going to extend
and prove my conclusion based on these aspects: the duration and the procedure of the surgery, the
subject range of the surgery, the effects after the surgery and the applications of the surgery
nowadays.
Body
LASIK Eye Surgery, as known as the savior of the short and long sighted, is a surgery that uses the
laser which combines fluorine and argon that would not be able to see by human eyes. The laser
wouldn t penetrate our eyes. It is used to gasify part of our cornea and wouldn t hurt other organs
of our body. Next, I will prove my conclusion: LASIK outweighs the disadvantages from 4 aspects.
Firstly, the LASIK wouldn t cost a lot of time. The surgery for each eye would take 10 to 15
minutes to perform. So, it would take about 20 30 minutes for the whole surgery process, which
means people could take the surgery after work and then the next day, he can go back to work
again. We don t need to ask for a leave to take the LASIK,

A Study On Working Capital
Maeghan Gaines 29 November 2014 FINA 150 Semester Project Chapter 14 Executive
Summary: Working Capital I chose to research working capital because I did not know the term
nor the significant role it plays in operating a business. I learned that working capital is the
requirements for running normal business operations on a daily basis. It is the necessary amount
needed to keep the doors open and is analyzed for a period of about a year. Working capital is
essential for fulfilling business operating needs. Cash that is spent is not considered working
capital because it can no longer be used by the company to invest. Working capital is the cash
surplus within the company used to make more money. Implementing an effective working... Show

Also, the level of fixed assets and current assets depends on the expected sales but only the
current assets can be adjusted with fluctuating sales in a diminutive period. Most importantly,
time must be considered when managing fixed assets. Discounting and compounding of time
play a major role in capital budgeting and a minor role in the management of current assets.
Ultimately, a business can survive without appropriate working capital policy, but a firm
without working capital has a much smaller life span than businesses that are well capitalized.
Working Capital Policy Introduction: Working Capital is the single most important component
of a business or firm because it has a direct impact on the cash flows. Working capital is the
capital you require for the working functioning of your business in the short run (BBI). There are
two types of working capital; gross working capital and net working capital. Gross working
capital is current assets. Net working capital is the difference between current assets and current
liabilities. Net working capital will be referred to as simply working capital in this paper.
Operating Cash flows arise from normal business operations and is the difference between cash
expenses associated with the manufacturing and sales of products and the cash collected from the
sales. Since cash flow is the main priority for

Why Preston High School Should Not Wear Uniforms
Preston High School should not adhere to a school dress code because it limits self expression,
high initial cost and can be very uncomfortable. Yes, some people say that school uniforms are
better so that you don t have to worry about students wearing inappropriate clothing to school but,
wearing the uniformsdoesn t allow the students to show their true selves. People may say
uniforms are or can be comfortable but, honestly I don t see how wearing that same exact clothes
everyday or each week can be comfortable. I feel like it would be annoying and uncomfortable
looking the exact same every day. You may be able to do your hair different and girls can do their
make up but, they would still look that same no matter what. Everyone wants to show their true...

No parent wants to see their kid not happy or fail a class due to not being able to pay attention
because the clothing they are wearing is bothering them. They won t be able to show their true self
which will make them unhappy and they can lose concentration. Our school doesn t have the
money to afford uniforms for all the students. Getting uniforms do not solve any problems and
doesn t do any good. Uniforms will just make students unhappy and honestly just be pointless. It
will not stop people from fight over stupid stuff or stop them from spreading rumors to cause
drama. Uniforms do not solve any of the bigger issues. The school would have to raise a lot
money somehow if they wanted uniforms because there are a lot students in our school and we
just don t have the money for that. School uniforms would make all kids feel the same by wearing
the same clothes as everyone else and not being able to express themselves. This is why I think
students at Preston High should not have to wear school

Routing Protocols in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks
Literature survey
Routing Protocols in MANET s
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are characterized as networks without any physical connections.
In these networks there is no fixed topology due to the mobility of nodes, interference, multipath
propagation and path loss. Hence a dynamic routing protocol is needed for these networks to
function properly. Many Routing protocols have been developed for accomplishing this task.
MANET routing protocols can be categorized as Proactive or Table driven Routing Protocols
Reactive or On Demand routing protocols and Hybrid routing protocols. This paper presents the
three types of routing protocols in MANET and makes a comparative discussion of the features of
each type of that routing protocol.
Routing In Manet All the routing concept basically involves, two activities: firstly, determining
optimal routing paths and secondly, transferring the information groups (called packets) through an
internetwork. Since the topology of the network is constantly changing, the issue of routing packets
between any pair of nodes becomes a challenging task. Most protocols should be based on reactive
routing instead of proactive. Multi cast routing is another challenge because the multi cast tree is
no longer static due to the random movement of nodes within the network. Routes between nodes
may potentially contain multiple hops, which is more complex than the single hop communication.
Portable impromptu systems (MANET) are described as systems

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Union In Malaysia
INTRODUCTION In the 20th century, trade unions is an important labour force through which
working people have a collective voice at work and an avenue to equality, fair treatment and
economic security. However, in the 21st century, it was argued that organised labour seems heading
for extinction (The Economist, 21 September 2006) as cited in Schnabel (2012). It seems that trade
unions in various countries, including Malaysia, are slowly declining its density and membership.
Although trade union has always been the main social institutions in societies represent worker

Violence In The Outsiders
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, Violence brings only temporary victories; violence, by creating
many more social problems than it solves, never brings permanent peace. Fighting is a growing
problem, especially in the book The Outsiders. Violence does not help solve any problems and
has many side effects. If anything, it creates more problems than actually solving any. In The
Outsiders, there is a lot of fighting between the Socs and the Greasers, which leads to physical
effects. When Ponyboy is walking home after watching a movie, he is jumped by five Socs with a
pocketknife. Ponyboy was hurt badly and almost knocked out from them slugging him in the face.

Daniel Cosway Christophine
How are Christophine and Daniel Cosway two of the most powerful voices and characters in the
novel?
The voices of Christophine and Daniel Cosway have a presence in the novel unrivalled by the other
characters in terms of expression and power. Their dialogue has the greatest emotional effects on
the other characters, and arguably on the readers too, throughout the novel.Christophine is the slave
of Antoinette s mother, given to her on her wedding day; she is present throughout Antoinette s
childhood and becomes her mother figure. Originally, Christophine is from Martinique and is
shown to have a very different, self confident, authentic identity to the other characters in the novel.

It also allows an opportunity for his voice to be heard without interruption therefore strengthening
his narrative. This letter is also written in Patois, which is usually a spoken language, using it
within a letter makes it an agent of self expression and foundation of identity. His use of direct
address within the letter is persuasive and threatening, you ask me what proof I have and why I
mix myself up in your affairs. I will answer you. Furthermore, the short sentences convey his
aggression. He is writing from an emotionally charged position, full of vengeance towards the
Cosways: Her father and mine was a shameless man and of all his illegitimates I am the most
unfortunate and poverty stricken. The use of hyperbole here emphasises his rage. Again he is
threatening, No, that old devil don t like me at all, and when I grow older I see it and think, Let
him wait my day will come. The last part of that sentence is evocative of biblical language and
style, the capitalisation of Let increases the effect. His use of juxtaposition, But they are white, I
am coloured. They are rich, I am poor, is very emotive, he is trying to gain sympathy in order to
strengthen his persuasion, which is successful. Again, in his conversation with

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Theory Of Grieving
The theory of grief and loss was developed by Elizabeth Kubler Ross (1969) to apply to people
who are grieving as well as those that are dying. Different people deal with grief differently but
according to Kubler Ross suggested that when people grieve they will go through these stages;
denial, anger, bargaining, depressionand acceptance. Sometimes loss is expected and sometime it
is a surprise to people. The first stage; denial is about the person who is grieving will feel numb
and shocked and would not be willing to accept that their loved one has passed away or is
terminally ill (Kubler Ross, 1969). This relates to Jason Martins who has lost his mother due to an
illness. This theory was used to be able to understand how Jason is feeling... Show more content on

Social workers can improve empowerment to a grieving person by ensuring that they have the
support that they need (Parkes, 1986/2007) this includes support from the community and
neighbours as this experience will offer the bereaved person encouragement to continue living their
life. When service users are grieving they are vulnerable therefore social workers should establish
their professional relationship with them using honesty and transparency (PCF domain 2 Values
and Ethics) therefore, the client does not identify their social worker as a personal friend. Social
workers can prevent oppression and discrimination by ensuring that anti oppressive and anti
discriminatory policies are in place (PCF domain 3 Diversity) and they should ensure that they are
aware of the challenges that service users face due to their emotional state and their identity.
The grief and loss theory has been criticised by Corr et al (1997) who stated that there is not real
life evidence to prove that people do go through the stages one (1) to stage five (5). Also the
theory was criticised for not acknowledging the limitations of the model, for example, people do
not always go through all the five (5) stages. Another criticism of the theory is that using the word
stage to describe the grieving process implies how inconsiderate it is as it forces the bereaved to
internalise their feelings waiting for that stage to pass which will affect their life in the long

School systems must hire at least one music educator, have a dedicated classroom, practice
facilities, and access to musical instruments, a music library, uniforms, and a variety of other
essential items in order to have a quality program. It can be very expensive in the beginning, and
there are always maintenance costs along the way. I would argue that the benefits that are gained
by having a quality program are worth the cost to the school district. I would also argue that much
of the money can be found in other ways than from the school district. Our high school band does

Semi-Structured Interview Essay
Interviews are conversations which will take place between the researcher and interviewee, with
the researcher being the one who asks the questions for the interviewee to answer (Lambert, 2012,
p104). For my small scale project, I have decided that I will carry out semi structured interviews
with those who work in the education sector of the Castle Museum to find out what they do and
how they promote children s learning.
I think a semi structured interview will be good for my own research project as I will have a set

points that I would like to cover, to ensure I do not miss them out. There will also be space to

This style of interview will allow room to cover issues in depth if needed, and will give me the
opportunity to probe into certain issues that I would like to know more information about. Probing
is a tool used for ensuring reliability of the data, as it enables the interviewer to clarify with the
respondent any words or phrases that they may not fully understand (Barriball and While ,1994,
p331). Semi structured interviews gives the interviewer the chance to be flexible in what they want
to ask their participant by not having to follow any specific order.

The Role of Music in Forming and Transforming Identities
Write an essay of 2,500 words on the following topic: With reference to two contrasting musical
forms and cultural traditions, discuss the role of music in forming and transforming identities.
Introduction This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and
transformation of identities within the emosubculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition.
The subculture of emo music engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself
and those who were drawn to its spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in
depth analysis of points made by scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to
that of dance music. Dance music has become increasingly popular in the current popular music
scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that
can be anaylsed and by exploring the contrasting features of these two music forms and their
cultural traditions, it will be possible to conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms
identities today.
Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in
particular, youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. A culture as Stuart Hall describes is a
way in which groups of people handle the raw material of their social and material existence and
also notes Marx in saying that culture is the practice of realising group life in meaningful shape
and form (Marx,

Patient Dissatisfaction Of Piv Catheter Replacements
Introduction
In a local San Diego County hospital, on a 28 bed progressive care unit specializing in cardiac
telemetry, the current protocol for replacing peripherally inserted intravenous catheter is every 72
hours or less if clinically indicated. The average daily census of patients on the unit is roughly 23
patients with an increase of 5% during the winter months. There are nearly 50,000 patients admitted
annually to this unit with 47,670 discharged home. The hospital is located in Serra Mesa and serves
the residents of this region as well as the surrounding area with a mean age of the patient being
52. The patients seeking care are mostly English or Spanish speaking, but represent a wide variety
of cultures. The RNs on this unit are working with patients in a 4:1 ratio leading to a fast paced
workflow and heavy workload for the nurses.
Staff nurses on the unit expressed their frustration with the current practice regarding the frequency
of PIV catheter replacements, stating that it was time consuming and contributed to patient
dissatisfaction. The process of replacing a PIV can often be time consuming and may take multiple
attempts in order to successfully insert a new PIV. Research supports a change in practice that
address these concerns. A pilot study performed in 2012, by Rickard, Webster, Wallis, Marsh,
McGrail, French and Whitby indicated that replacing PIV catheters only when clinically indicated
did not lead to catheter related complications, as previously

Modern America and the Diminishing Individual
In his essay Modern America and the Diminishing Individual , Peter Cooper talks about how
today there is an absence of genuine compassion for one another. Copper opens his essay by
stating The impudence, indifference, self centeredness, evidenced by some Americans are
symptomatic of contemporary national malaise (70). Which basically means that our attitude for
self is like a sickness in our society today. He goes on to say Individual significance in society
commonly diminishes in direct proportion to the number of people (70). He expresses that the
reason for this being is that Human behavior deteriorates when many people are crowded closely

Today you would be lucky to even know your neighbors names. The term love thy neighbor as
you love yourself is not really relevant anymore. Why? You see in today s society we only feel
the need to associate ourselves with people that can potentially help us. We are so focused on what
we can get out of people that we no longer value each other.
We have become so self indulgent that it has this have become the norm, so much that for us we
are unaware of when we are doing it. Recently my Uncle called me and asked me how I was
doing, as we further ventured into our conversation, he asked me if I could ask my coach to let
him rent the gym. Although he called me, he really did not want to know how I was he wanted
me to do a favor for him. He only asked how I was doing because it was the polite thing to do.
Oddly enough you would think that the one group of people who are supposed to honestly care
for you would be your family. Even your family is not exempt from this behavior. They find ways
to use you for things rather than to see how you are doing, and getting to know you. Often times
we are victims of this, we do things like this unconsciously, and we use people rather than building
a relationship with them. We neglect what we are actually doing and we continue to operate with
selfish motives and are blind to the fact that we are actually doing it.

Organizational Culture And Leadership Effectiveness
The military has always thrived on leadership; it has been the core of this organization and the
foundation that sustains it. Studies on organizational culture and leadership effectiveness have
continued to gain popularity in recent years. Wong (2003) stated that long before leadership
became a topic of discussion in the corporate, academic, or even public realm, militaries have been
enamored by leadership. Leadership in the military has always been held in high regard. A leader
is anyone who by virtue of assumed role or assigned responsibility inspires and influences people
to accomplish organizational goals Yet, in recent years, an ever increasing style of leadership has
emerged; toxic leadership. With military officials gaining negative attention, the Armed Forces
determined that there needed to be an army wide removal of toxic leaders and implementation of
training that focuses on a new leadership style; effective leadership.
Toxic leadership is defined as a leader who is destructive or harmful in nature, and has only
concern for personal interest. Toxic leadership is an ever increasing issue that has affected the U.S.
Armed Forces as well as many institutions of higher education and other organizations. . Toxic
leadership may be considered a form of oppression since it entails unjust treatment, cruelty (to an
extent), and mental pressure or distress. In order to capture the complexity of toxic leadership
focus should be placed on personality traits such as narcissism

say I was not much of a match for the two state qualifying senior wrestlers that were the only

Life In Industrialized Cities In The 19th Century
All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end (Sharma). Change is what
helps improve the world we live in. During the Industrial Revolution in the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries, the way people live was drastically changing. In the beginning, living
conditions in cities were terrible, but as regulations were put into effect and as time passed, these
living conditions greatly improved. Life in industrialized cities was an improvement over life in the
country as a result of the Industrial Revolutionbecause of improvements in transportation, working
conditions, and the creation of job opportunities.

Workers in the cities were unhappy with the working conditions and decided they needed to do
something about it: Organized into strong unions and large political parties, workers were able
to campaign for changes in the law (Clare 48). Workers were able to unite in the form of unions.
These unions fought for better working conditions which led to laws improving working
conditions. At first, city life was extremely poor. This was completely changed with new laws and
regulations: Laws were passed requiring safety standards in factories, setting minimum age limits
for young workers, establishing schools for children whose parents both worked, and creating
other standards for the protection of workers (Newton). As a result of poor working conditions,
restrictions were created which improved working conditions. This made life in the cities better
than life in the country because most of the jobs were located in the cities and these improved
working conditions led to better job satisfaction and healthier

The main purpose of this research dissertation is to analyse brand perception on customers and
their buying behaviour within automobile industry. Brand perception is notably related with the
experiences of customers related with the product, service or company which produce and deliver
the product or service (Kervyn, Fiske Malone, 2012). In other words, brand perception can be
shaped through the practical experiences such as: speed, quality, reliability and availability, along
with the emotional experiences such as: good feeling, improvement of performance at home or at

Keats Influence On Religion
One of the most alluded works in the history of literature would definitely be the Bible. The
Bible has given insight to most of the great authors through out time as either inspiration or a
source of parody. The number of Biblical quotes and related symbols could be almost endless to
list. Parodies and symbolic reference to the Bible in literary works, serve as an expression of the
author s and time s religious view points.
The Romantic view of religion was more concerned with human religious experience than with
divinely revealed truths. Religion for the Romantics created the want to escape the physical world

Rossetti spent most of her life by strict religious principles. She gave up two engagement
commitments due to religious factors. Rossetti s religious compassion in her work was no secret.
A well known Rossetti critic, Jerome McGann, says, nearly all her poems contain important
allusions to and quotations from The Book of Common Prayers and the Bible. (McGann 211).
Keats, however, chose to use religious topics to inspire his works in other ways. Robert Ryan
says, Keats decisively repudiated the Christianity of their time as incorrigibly dishonest and
pernicious. (Ryan 5). Ryan s statement along with the symbolism in The Eve of St. Agnes makes
me believe Keats to have preferred the old religion over the new.
One religious interpretation of The Eve of St. Agnes was brought about by Jack Stillinger in his
book The Hoodwinking of Madeline. Stillinger relates Madeline s dream on the Eve of St.
Agnes to that of Adam s while he is dreaming of the creation of Eve. Madeline was dreaming of
her future husband, and when she awoke she found Porphyro in her bed. This thought of
imagination turning to truth is the same case of when Adam awakes from his dream, and he
finds his dream has come true. The difference between the two dreams lies in the fact Adam is
happy when he awakes and sees Eve, but Madeline does not feel as pleased. She seems scared of
what she awakens to by saying, No dream, alas! Alas! And woe is mine! (Norton

What is the Role of Education in the Recovery of a Child?
Often, when a child is ill or needs behavioral health treatment, education is the last thing on a

During and after treatment, the focus is on the child s recovery so they can go back to being a kid:

There are numerous reasons why children must be admitted to the hospital for treatment. Some

Everyone thinks that being considered the perfect child or the ideal child means that they have
the best, happy life anyone could ask for but in reality, it s the complete opposite. For starters, if
you have successful parents you are usually given the task to live up to their expectations. With
the exception of giving you the amount of pressure no one can handle, especially for a 16 year

Media In Media
The effects of media consumption on behavioral tendencies have long been the subject of both
popular and academic scrutiny. Specifically, it is widely accepted that over exposure to
depictions of violence in media can lead to desensitization to violent content and even short term
aggressive behavior. From a psychological perspective (but not from a sociological one), this is
hard to dispute as there are numerous studies which confirm this phenomenon although these
studies have also been the victim of sensationalist interpretations and representations. Essentially
what has been postulated is a simple cause and effect relationship: media exposure leads to a
behavioral change. And as of recently, video games, in particular, have been the subject of
increased scrutiny in the context of this relationship and once again there is evidence to support
such a relationship. However, a review of available data published by the American
Psychological Association (Granic, Lobels, Engels, 2014) has suggested that another, more
positive cause and effect relationship may be at work with this type of media as it has grown in
visibility and mainstream acceptance. One such trend that has emerged from a review of
multiple studies is that playing video games can result in an increase in problem solving skills.
This has largely gone overlooked by the popular press and the public at large who instead continue
to focus on the link to aggressive behavior. And it is also important to consider that the findings of
the APA do not disprove this link; this potential increase in problem solving ability and the separate
increase of aggressive tendencies are not necessarily mutually exclusive to one another. In fact, it is
entirely likely that there is one singular reason that both occur as a result of playing video games:
interactivity. Interactivity in the context of video games constitutes a deep immersion in an
entertaining fiction at a level that other visual media cannot match. James Paul Gee (2007) clarifies
this point further nothing happens until a player acts and makes decisions... words and deeds are
all placed in the context of an interactive relationship between the player and the world. And
ultimately, an interactive

E Waste Or Electronic Waste
Technology is everywhere and is obsolete. It has become a necessity in modern times but what

device that have been discarded or devices that have been thrown away. They are also known as one
of the fastest and great contributor to garbage streams that greatly impacts the planet due to its
hazardous effects on both the environment and living creatures.

In figure 2, it shows that countries with higher GDP produce more E waste. United States and
China have the highest GDP ($17, 419.0 and $10, 360.1) and both countries also have the highest
number of e waste produced (7072 and 6033 kt). Although, even if the population of a country is
higher, that doesn t necessarily mean that higher e waste will be produced. In figure 3, it shows
that there is no correlation between the number of population and number of e waste generated in
each country. Why does higher population not necessarily mean higher e waste? That s because not
everyone in that country may be able to buy technology. People in those countries may be poor and
e waste generation is related to the amount of individual s income. Figure 4 suggests that electronic
waste produced is related to the income of consumers meaning the amount of e waste produced is
increasing with the buyers individual wealth a.k.a purchasing power.
Why should we recycle electronic wastes? Three reasons: Economics benefits, public health
benefits, and environmental benefits.

Electronics wastes have a ton of valuable materials (see table 6), can provide jobs, provides better
opportunity for scarce elements to strive before they completely run out, metals can be recovered

This committee decided that the United States should retain nuclear superiority, in the event that
international relations deteriorated following World War II (US Department of Energy). This
decision is a foreshadowing of the Cold War, and nuclear arms race which followed the dropping
of nuclear weapons on Japan. The interim committee also decreed that a regulatory system should
be created to control the development of nuclear weapons, since other nations would inevitably
obtain the technology needed to develop weapons. Possibly, the most influential decision made
by the interim committee was to keep the details of the atomic bomb a secret, to maintain the

Subliminal Messages Should Not Be Legal
Subliminal messages

Advanced Placement Psychology
Mr. Cuetara
June, 4th 2015 Abstract
Subliminal messages are messages that are perceived in the unconscious mind that most of the
time we are not aware of. These messages are mainly designed to influence that way we think and
feel. They are used to get people to buy products from their company. Subliminal messages can be
perceived auditory or visually. Subliminal messages should not be legal and should be banned from
being used in advertisement for it can lead to negative results. There should be another way to
advertise that. Doesn t involve manipulating our minds into buying the products.
Subliminal messages are messages that are either auditory or visual which is presented below the
normal limits of perception. An example of a subliminal messages would be that a message might
be inaudible to the conscious mind but may be audible to the unconscious mind, in this case a
deeper part of your mind. Subliminal messages may also be in other cases an image that is
unperceived but will be perceived deeper in your mind. To put in simpler terms, subliminal
messages are basically hypnotism that many companies may use to encourage people to buy the
product they re selling.
According to the article The Influence of Subliminal Messages , it states that subliminal messages
can influence our attitudes and behavior. Also, under certain circumstances of course, subliminal

The Ancient Olympics
Most people know that the Olympics were started in Greece and that there must be at least one
difference between the ancient Olympics and the more recent Olympics. But contrary to
common belief the olympics have significally changed from when they first began ,not only has
the meaning of the events changed but the athletes able to participate. One story says that the
games were started by Herakles (Roman Hercules) and Alceme. There are other known records
of who began the games. The first known written record of the games is in 776 B.C. ,but it is
believed that they originated earlier.(D) During the games fighting in Greece would cease so the
games could be held. The games were ende in394 A.D. because Christian Emperor Theodosius I
declared them pagan traditions.(C) The name Olympics is derived from Olympia the place
where the games were held. Olympia is part of the western side Peloponnese. Pelops , to whom
the land is named, is also said to be the founder of the games. Olympia is composed of shrines,
sporting facilities, and temples. Olympia was used as a political and religious meeting center
since the 10th century B.C. The center of Olympia was mainly composed of a to Zeus (Roman
Jove or Jupiter) and a temple to Hera (Roman Juno) parallel.(A) The city was mostly covered by
temples because the games acknowledged the Greek gods. The most important temple was the one
devoted to Zeus , the ruler of the Greek gods. The written records from 776 B.C. show that the first

Importance Of Conflict Resolution
A conflict is a disagreement between two individuals. A conflict resolution is both individuals
having an understanding and coming to an agreement on the conflict. The conflict can be
resolved by both parties having a perspective of the other point of views. According to, Bisno, H.
(1988), Conflict, arguments, and change are natural parts of our lives, as well as the lives of
every agency, organization, and nation. Conflict resolution is a way for two or more parties to
find a peaceful solution to a disagreement among them. The disagreement may be personal,
financial, political, or emotional. When a dispute arises, often the best course of action is
negotiation to resolve the disagreement. The goals of negotiation is to produce a solution that all
parties can agree to, work as quickly as possible to find this solution, and improve, not hurt, the
relationship between the groups in conflict. Conflict resolution through negotiation can be good for
all parties involved. Often, each side will get more by participating in negotiations than they would
by walking away, and it can be a way for your group to get resources that might otherwise be out of
reach. What stood out to me during the reading were the many different approaches of handling
conflicts. Being a good listener is very important in resolving conflict. Having effective
communication skills is important .Making sound judgments and strategic decisions in negotiating
a conflict is standing firm for

The Music Of The World Of Music
The world of music has seen many memorable composers such as Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and
Vivaldi, but none of them have a story as amazing as the 18th century classical composer Ludwig
Van Beethoven. His life played out like one of his beautiful symphonies, with unimaginable highs,
lows, victories, and defeats, (Viegas 5). Although he lost his hearing when he was 26 years old,
Beethoven was famous for his nine symphonies, and is also recognized as one of the cornerstones
of Western civilization through the legacy of his music.
Ludwig Van Beethovenwas born in Bonn, Germany. He was the son of Johann, a tenor of the court
of the Elector of Cologne, who also taught violin and piano lessons, and the grandson of the man he
was named after, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father, Johann, became an alcoholic as a result of never living up to his father s musical
achievements. His greatest hope for success in life now rested on one individual his young son
Ludwig (Viegas 12). He gave Ludwig, music lessons from when he was very young. Many
accounts believe that Ludwig s father was abusive in his lessons. So dedicated to improving
Ludwig s musicianship, he would beat him or lock him in the cellar. Since these events took
place when Beethoven was at such an impressionable age, it is hard to tell how much of his later
obsession with music came from a love of the craft or from a drive instilled by his domineering
father (Viegas 13).
Regardless of his father s dominance, Beethoven s musical prodigy was very natural for him.
This is proven by the fact that although his father encouraged him to play pre existing
compositions, Beethoven composed his own. In 1779, German composer Christian Gottlob
Neefe took over Ludwig s father s role as a music teacher. Mild mannered and well educated, he
inspired Beethoven to pursue his talent for composing music further, and in 1782, Neefe decided
to publish Beethoven s compositions. As Neefe began to publicize 12 year old Beethoven s talents,
they caught the attention of Maximilian Franz, the new elector of the region who had an
appreciation for music. He had Beethoven play the viola for his court orchestra and was very

A Monologue Of Alice
I had the same line of field for 25 years, and i have never had a case as odd as Alice s. She was my
first and last client. Her mother came in when alice was five years old, Alice called her the
Queen of Hearts, she called me the Mad Hatter. Funny thing she actually made me feel a bit mad
sometimes, she always had such a surreal look on things in her life that scared me from time to
time. I only wish i realized what was going on sooner. I first met Alice on February 14,1865 the
same day as her birthday. It was a nice and tuesday morning and alice just turned 5. Mrs. Liddell,
Alice s mother, came to me looking for a job since i had just opened my clinic. Alice wore an old
worn out white dress that probably belonged to her older sister Edith.... Show more content on

She always told me stories about how the queen of hearts has tried to poison her again with her
vegetable minions, but every time she did the white queen was there to save her. She would tell
me how every time we were together it was tea time. She told me it was her favorite time to spend
since she wasn t anywhere near the queen of hearts.
After years Alice s fantasies never went away, they have only gotten worse as time went on. Her
stories became her perfect little world and she always loved being in them. There were weeks
on end that Alice wouldn t speak to others like she was locked inside her head. Mrs. Liddell grew
tiresome of alice and wanted her to go away. She started asking if i knew any asylums that
wouldn t cost much for her. I convinced her that if alice stayed her she would do so much better
than those hospitals . As time went on I noticed more changes in alice s appearance as time went
on when she was actually interactive. She seemed scared and tired all the time. She started wearing
coats more often even in the hot summer days. Except when she was telling me her

13-In-1 Research Paper
A handheld tool set with multiple tools is great to have for around the home, while out biking or
camping. You won t have to worry about something breaking down and not having the right tools
for the job. Nobody carries a toolbox out with them on a bike ride, but a tool for repairs is essential.
Around the Home
It s handy to have a Snap On tool for repairs like the 870456 13 in 1 Multi function Tool. While
you re home, you could dig through your toolbox for the correct tool, but it s easier to have
everything you need in one piece. For example, the 13 in 1 has stainless steel tools like a small
knife, an awl and two screwdrivers. This is a tool you can carry in your pocket while you walk
around the home making small, maintenance repairs.

The External sources are also in other words Sources from the outside. Media Markt made use of
different kind of external sources to expand their business. By for example, Building societies,
Leasing, Venture Capitalists, and Friends or Family.
Media Markt Building Societies:
As the company built societies outside of the company it is a good advantage fort hem, becayse
building societies are also able to offer loans, business accounts, commercial mortgages and
overdraft facillities based on the business plan of Media markt.
Media Markt Leasing a business:
For Media Markt Leasing means that resources can be used by the business while they are being

Media Markt using Venture Capitalists:
These are professionals that invest a upcoming new business such as Media Markt in which they

Cabaret Movie Comparison
After watching both of the films for this week I definitely noticed a difference in the film narratives
due to musical numbers and how they were integrated. While watching 42nd Street, the musical
numbers were quite confusing to me. I struggled to understand how they provided context to the
film. As I did not see how they fit within the storyline of the films. I also believe the disconnection
between the numbers and the filmmade me question, the films event s and I thought I
misunderstood certain moments in the film because the musical numbers did not make sense. I also
did not enjoy the fact that during the numbers themselves there was dialogue going on and the
focus shifted during the number. I think this lessened the impact of the number... Show more content

It was as if the focus was the music numbers opposed to the films, which in my opinion is the
best part of a musical. I enjoyed watching the numbers and seeing the elaborate costumes and
details that were put into them. Furthermore, in Cabaret, one could tell that the music numbers
really fit in with the film and provided more insight into what was going on. A good example of
this was the during the musical number Maybe This Time sung by Sally which demonstrated her
relationship with Brian and how it has evolved. Their relationship turned into more than a
friendship and as the number goes on Sally sings of the hope she has of this relationship being
the real deal and withstanding the test of time.Through this musical number the audience is able
to understood how Sally is feeling without the use of any actual dialogue. I do believe there is
some relation between the context of integration/non integration and the contexts in which the
films were made. 42nd Street was created during the Great Depression and it seems as if there
was some caution in terms of the film was made. It seems as if the events of the film were more so
on the safe side and no feathers were

Oakley Unstoppables Case Study
These Oakley Women s Unstoppable sunglasses are considered one of the best sunglasses for
UV eye protection. Ultraviolet rays from the sun damages your cornea, lens of the eye, and the
eyelids. Many people believe that the darkness of the sunglasses lens provide blockage of UV rays,
but that isn t the case. Polarized lenses are what give you eyeprotection.
Overview of Oakley Women s Unstoppable Sunglasses
The best sunglasses for UV eye protection have polarization, which we mentioned previously. The
Oakley Unstoppables have the kind of lenses you need. They also have variations that don t have
polarization, so make sure you re aware of that before ordering.
You can mix and match frame and lens colors to give you exactly the style you want for driving,
heading to the beach, or walking around near the water. They re lightweight lenses and frames, so
you can wear them all day while the nose pads will stop the glasses from slipping during any
activity.
Manufacturer
While Oakley is based in California, it s a subsidiary of Luxottica. They re an Italian company that
produces luxury sports equipment as well as other accessories like watches, shoes, and backpacks.
The company was created by James Jannard out of his garage. The year was 1975.
In that year, they were revolutionary because of the grips, which were made of a trademarked
material he called Unobtainium. It s still used in the nose piece of the sunglasses, too. Oakleys
have long since been associated with the sports industry as the go to glasses.
Frame and Lens Colors Available
The frames come in a few different colors; black, crystal raspberry, matte brown tortoise, metallic
black, polished black, raspberry spritzer, and tortoise. This gives you enough variety to have a pair
that will match nearly every outfit you own.
The lenses come in black non polarized, gray, black, prizm tungsten polarized, chrome iridium
polarized, prizm gold, rose gradient polarized, brown gradient polarized, bronze polarized, and gold.
Lens Color for UV Protection
Brown Lenses Bright outdoor conditions require this color to block out much of the harmful light
that can invade the eye.

Visual Anthropology And Cultural Anthropology
Society is made up of ordinary items that throughout the years are given value by outsiders, people
who think outside of the world they are in, or by those, who are, from a different time period.
Anthropologists have been able to study the differences in human cultures and how they have
evolve. There are now four major fields of anthropology: biological anthropology, cultural
anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and archaeology (Dennis O Neil). Within these fields are
subfields, visual anthropology is a very important subfield of cultural anthropology. Visual
anthropology is the study of the history of human customs and culturethrough what one sees or
perceives in various types of media. Therefore, ...the use of visual material in anthropological
research...is the study of visual systems and visible cultures (Banks and Morphy). Since media is
seen as a representation of the truth, it is reasonable to say that it plays a major role in the
accurate views of how society is. There are two categories in which I would like to describe how
visual anthropology tries to describe human culture and custom: images and objects. Through visual
anthropology, images, ads, and cartoons are constantly changing individual s views and the world
in which they live in. Images are not merely pictures to state the obvious, they are pictures that have
a deeper meaning. Whether the meaning is shown or not shown, they convey representation of
something more meaningful in the end. Stuart Hall

Persuasive Essay On Right To Bear Arms
Only this month, 59 were killed and over 500 people were injured during a country music
concert in Vegas in what is now known as the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Last
year, 49 were killed and 58 were injured in a gay nightclub in Florida. In 2012, a mass shooting
in Sandy Hook Elementary School took 27 lives, 20 of them being first graders. The list of these
unthinkable and stomach churning acts is quickly turning endless, forcing us to rethink why we
truly have the right to bear arms. Many defend the second amendment by claiming we need this
right for self defense, which is the most wretched part. When we look at what we have lost
compared to what we have earned in this fight to keep the right to bear arms, this privilege does
not seem worth the sacrifice of so many lives. In today s world, we do not defense through guns
but from them. Our policymakers keep trying to reach a compromise by putting in place certain
regulations. Some states require would be gunowners to fulfill a firearms safety course in order to
obtain their license. Such training courses, however, even when not required, are very advisable
for the would be gun owner, as they ensure that he or she has all the necessary information on
liability issues, on safety, and even on care and maintenance of the gun ( How to Get a Gun
License 1). This lack of attention illustrates that despite the multiple tragedies that have taken place
in our nation, some states do not even require a simple safety course that ensures the safety of our
people. Furthermore, it is required that one must pass a background check. The questions asked on
the test are the following:
*Have you ever been convicted of a felony?
*Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence?
*Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any other depressant, stimulant, narcotic
drug, or any other controlled substance?
*Are you a fugitive from justice?
*Have you ever been committed to a mental institution?

Alcohol Stereotypes And Arguments In Advertising
Products that should not be advertised
Advertisement is crucial for any firm that seeks to reach out to its customers. Billions of dollars are
used in advertisements by many companies around the globe. The results are in many cases positive
and satisfactory. Products are known to the public (Brick, 2008), which in turn attracts them.
However, certain products should not be advertised. Alcohol and some commonly used drugs
should not be advertised. Drugs such as tobacco and khat are detrimental to health. Alcohol is
widely advertised in many countries by brewing companies. Despite of its negative effects firms
still hold on to the ill practice. Millions of youth have been exposed to alcohol through television

that capitalise on the use of social media, unique locations and offerings (refer to table 1). Despite
desserts being considered non essential, high levels of competition and healthy eating trends (refer

which is set to grow in the next five years (Tonkin, 2016). The company has a distinctive vintage

Despite these statistics only 31% of SME businesses actively operate a social media engagement

more than 80,000 followers, as well as on Facebook, where the Doughnut Time page has received
more than 55,000 (Schlesinger, 2016). When analysing these main factors, Doughnut Time appears
to be posed for product development, taking advantage of opportunities through the use of menu

urban locations where Doughnut Time is accessible (Stone, 2016). This segment is comprised of
high school students, university students and new practitioners (Tonkin, 2016). According to
Tonkin (2016), consumers in this demographic are a key market for the fast food industry and
provide stability and revenue growth. This target audience is suitable for Doughnut Time as these
consumers are less health conscious than older counterparts and are strongly affected by technology
and economics (Tonkin, 2016).

  • 2. Elements Of Crime Fiction Genre Crime fiction has set the stage for popular action and thriller movies derived from this genre. It has not only thrilled audiences in the mid 1800s but has thrilled generations of film enthusiasts and book worms alike. The crime fiction genre, is exactly as it sounds. It is fictional stories based on the solving of a crime or anything to do with crime. But in order for a story to be classed as crime fictionit must follow key elements. The best crime fiction stories show two or more of these elements. Agatha Christie s Murder on The Orient Express (2017), follows these key elements well; combined with a thrilling storyline, the film makes an excellent example of crime fiction. The story is classed as cosy crime a sub genre of crime fiction popular in England. The film is based off of Christie s short story published in 1934. The film tells the story of a group of diverse individuals all aboard the luxury train, the Orient Express. While aboard the train a billionaire is murdered under mysterious circumstances. Unfortunately for the victim, amateur detective Hercule Poirot happens to be a passenger aboard the train and is there to solve the case. On the other end of the crime fiction genre is the hard boiled or golden age sub genre. Hard boiled crime is more typically puzzle driven as opposed to cosy crime. Dashiell Hammett s The Creeping Siamese is a perfect example of crime fiction once again including most of the key elements of crime fiction. Originally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay Feminist Defeat and Perseverance In Simone de Beauvoir s The Woman Destroyed, the reader is given a deep psychological portrait of a women s failing marriage. Not only does Beauvoir show us the thoughts and confidences of one beset by inner turmoil, she also portrays for us the marriage as it appears from the outside. The main character in The WomanDestroyed is the narrator Monique. She has been married to her husband Maurice for over twenty years and is trying to keep herself emotionally together after the realization that he is having an affair. Other characters the author introduces are the couple s two daughters, Colette and Lucienne. Colette has recently married and moved out of her parent s house. Lucienne, the younger of the two children, has moved to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems clear that Monique embodies aspects of Beauvoir s personality. More importantly, however, Monique is a device which allows Beauvoir to set forth her message for all modern women. Beauvoir would prefer for us to feel that suffering does have some purpose, especially when it comes at the hands of others. As the story is set in France in the mid part of the 20th century, this suffering takes place in a modern marriage. We are given enough information to realize that this modern woman doesn t see herself as an independent spirit. In fact, she chooses a more traditional role in her marriage, one where she deals with her husband s affair by looking the other way. Beauvoir s message to the reader relies upon this fragile state to show us how Monique could ultimately persevere. It is by reconciling the classic with the modern that her tortured femininity comes through. She will eventually draw for us an image of a woman caught between these societal currents, driven mad by both. The story can be broken into three parts, each part corresponding to a two month period during Monique s breakdown. In the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Bernard Palissy And The Protestant Reformation In Europe Emily Medeiros Humanities 12 2 14 Throughout the 15th and 16th centuries in Europe there was a lot of change between the Protestant Reformation, the Counter Reformation as well as the Renaissance. All of these changes made a considerate impact on society and cultural production, a lot of which represented and spoke volumes of the feelings and views that resulted from such eventful times. The intense amount of religious sentiment that followed the Protestant Reformation and the Reformation had a large influence upon European life and cultural production. Bernard Palissy was a French potter who was famous for having struggled to imitate Chinese porcelain of the time. He was also a Protestant, so quite a bit of his work had religious depictions. Palissy did not succeed in finding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of this Rustic pottery is the Plate depicting the sacrifice of Isaac (de Young Legion of Honor San Francisco Porcelain Gallery) The plate is extremely detailed, showing the Angel coming down from the sky in furled clouds and grabbing hold of the sword that was to be used to sacrifice Isaac as he kneels on a stone in prayer. The way the images come up off of the plate in a three dimensional manner give the viewer the sense that the scene is playing out in front of their eyes and was a style that Palissy must have been quite fond of using it often in his pieces. During the 15th century, many thought the end of the world was coming. It s no surprise then that many of the paintings of the time clearly reflect that psychological tone of the era such as The Last Judgment: The Damned in Hell (de Young|Legion of Honor San Francisco Gallery 3) by one anonymous artist. The painting depicts demon like creatures pulling and carrying away people who are undoubtedly sinners, to hell. The scene is chaotic with some naked and some clothed individuals, expressions of fear and helplessness on their faces being tormented. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Nasa Presentation Nasa project Presentation Overall I think are presentation was good the reason why I think that is. Are presentation was about the apollo missions one through eleven and what each objective was for each mission. Each mission was an important role for nasa because they learned many things like the mistakes they made and the new things they discovered throughout the missions. It s fascinating how much they were able to achieve in a short period of time. The apollo missions were like steps for the next mission. The goal at the end was to get the first man on the moon. It took in total 6 apollo missions to be able to get a man on the moon and back. The apollo missions where a great achievement for mankind and the united states. Getting a man on the moon meant that we could go to so many other planets and not just the moon. Are presentation also went into a little bit of detail on how the race began to the moon against the other countries including the US and Russia. At the time of the race to the moon, the US and Russia were in the middle of a cold war at the same time. What started it was the tension with Russia and the ... We didn t really talk about the background of each mission like who was on the mission and what was achieved and the small little thighs like that which we failed to explain. I think if we had just a little bit more time we would be able to present all this information because we were wanting to do flash cards but we did not have enough time to. I would have to say the apollo missions are a very important to mankind because how important it was knowing that we could actually go to another planet and be able to be able to live on the plant and maybe one day discovering new life forms that could be just like us or very different from ... • 6. A Hero In My M My Vision Of A Hero You re stronger than you think you are. This line, spoken by the well known super hero batman, shows the importance of going beyond what we know and using the extra strength we have. In the movies we see people considered super heroes and from this, our view of a hero has been shaped to believe you must have a power or special object everyone else does not have to be a hero. My vision of a hero is someone who is selfless, someone who goes out of their way to help others and someone who strives for the betterment of another s life. I believe that there are many heroes in this world and becoming one occurs on accident. I will be telling you about my uncle Paul who is a hero in my eyes and I will share his incredible story of how he accidentally became a hero. From this person I have come to see that going out of the norm can have great benefits for you and anyone you help. When my aunt and uncle got married, there next few years were completely out of the norm for that time. The normal would have been to follow the American Dream. This dream was simple, graduate college, get married, get a job, buy a house, and start a family. This is a lifestyle that domesticates you right away and forces the act of settling in. The journey of my aunt and uncle does not even remotely follow the American Dream. Paul and his wife got married young after a few years of him working, trying out college, and exploring the country. Because they both worked hard before marriage, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Virtue Of Forgetting Of The Digital Age Delete The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age Viktor Mayer Schonberger Chapter one is entitled Failing to Forget the Drunken Pirate. This chapter starts off giving examples of real people that have professional jobs that posted something online that later on came back and ruined their lives in some way. One person was a woman by the name of Stacey Snyder who was a 25 year old aspiring teacher. After completing all the coursework needed to become an educator, university officials denied her of her certificate because of a picture that she posted on her private Myspace account. The picture was captioned drunken pirate and she was holding a red cup, the university officials claimed her behavior was unbecoming. Although her page was private, it was still easy for the officials to find this one image that ruined Stacey s career. In this chapter it is stressed how easy it is to find information on anyone. Google actually keeps individual records of people s search history, web pages browsed, and keywords that they often search. Google used to keep these records forever, but as of recently that changed and they are only kept for a short period of time. Also in this chapter it is stated that there is no more privacy. • 9. Pros And Cons Of LASIK Eye Surgery A study on the correction of short and long sighted by LASIK eye surgery Introduction LASIK Eye Surgery (LASIK for the rest of the essay) is short for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis Eye Surgery. Nowadays, as the rapid development and the strong advocating of the LASIK, there are more than 100 thousand people in China take the LASIK every year. Although it provides a huge benefit to those people wearing glasses, some people still think LASIK as the damage to our eyes. In my opinion, LASIK outweighs the disadvantages. Next, I m going to extend and prove my conclusion based on these aspects: the duration and the procedure of the surgery, the subject range of the surgery, the effects after the surgery and the applications of the surgery nowadays. Body LASIK Eye Surgery, as known as the savior of the short and long sighted, is a surgery that uses the laser which combines fluorine and argon that would not be able to see by human eyes. The laser wouldn t penetrate our eyes. It is used to gasify part of our cornea and wouldn t hurt other organs of our body. Next, I will prove my conclusion: LASIK outweighs the disadvantages from 4 aspects. Firstly, the LASIK wouldn t cost a lot of time. The surgery for each eye would take 10 to 15 minutes to perform. So, it would take about 20 30 minutes for the whole surgery process, which means people could take the surgery after work and then the next day, he can go back to work again. I learned that working capital is the requirements for running normal business operations on a daily basis. It is the necessary amount needed to keep the doors open and is analyzed for a period of about a year. Working capital is essential for fulfilling business operating needs. Also, the level of fixed assets and current assets depends on the expected sales but only the current assets can be adjusted with fluctuating sales in a diminutive period. Most importantly, time must be considered when managing fixed assets. Discounting and compounding of time play a major role in capital budgeting and a minor role in the management of current assets. Ultimately, a business can survive without appropriate working capital policy, but a firm without working capital has a much smaller life span than businesses that are well capitalized. Working Capital Policy Introduction: Working Capital is the single most important component of a business or firm because it has a direct impact on the cash flows. Working capital is the capital you require for the working functioning of your business in the short run (BBI). There are two types of working capital; gross working capital and net working capital. Gross working capital is current assets. Net working capital is the difference between current assets and current liabilities. Net working capital will be referred to as simply working capital in this paper. Yes, some people say that school uniforms are better so that you don t have to worry about students wearing inappropriate clothing to school but, wearing the uniformsdoesn t allow the students to show their true selves. People may say uniforms are or can be comfortable but, honestly I don t see how wearing that same exact clothes everyday or each week can be comfortable. Getting uniforms do not solve any problems and doesn t do any good. Uniforms will just make students unhappy and honestly just be pointless. It will not stop people from fight over stupid stuff or stop them from spreading rumors to cause drama. Uniforms do not solve any of the bigger issues. The school would have to raise a lot money somehow if they wanted uniforms because there are a lot students in our school and we just don t have the money for that. • 12. Routing Protocols in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks Literature survey Routing Protocols in MANET s Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are characterized as networks without any physical connections. In these networks there is no fixed topology due to the mobility of nodes, interference, multipath propagation and path loss. Hence a dynamic routing protocol is needed for these networks to function properly. Many Routing protocols have been developed for accomplishing this task. MANET routing protocols can be categorized as Proactive or Table driven Routing Protocols Reactive or On Demand routing protocols and Hybrid routing protocols. This paper presents the three types of routing protocols in MANET and makes a comparative discussion of the features of each type of that routing protocol. Routing In Manet All the routing concept basically involves, two activities: firstly, determining optimal routing paths and secondly, transferring the information groups (called packets) through an internetwork. Since the topology of the network is constantly changing, the issue of routing packets between any pair of nodes becomes a challenging task. Most protocols should be based on reactive routing instead of proactive. Multi cast routing is another challenge because the multi cast tree is no longer static due to the random movement of nodes within the network. Routes between nodes may potentially contain multiple hops, which is more complex than the single hop communication. Portable impromptu systems (MANET) are described as systems ... Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Union In Malaysia INTRODUCTION In the 20th century, trade unions is an important labour force through which working people have a collective voice at work and an avenue to equality, fair treatment and economic security. However, in the 21st century, it was argued that organised labour seems heading for extinction (The Economist, 21 September 2006) as cited in Schnabel (2012). The voices of Christophine and Daniel Cosway have a presence in the novel unrivalled by the other characters in terms of expression and power. Furthermore, the short sentences convey his aggression. He is writing from an emotionally charged position, full of vengeance towards the Cosways: Her father and mine was a shameless man and of all his illegitimates I am the most unfortunate and poverty stricken. The use of hyperbole here emphasises his rage. Again he is threatening, No, that old devil don t like me at all, and when I grow older I see it and think, Let him wait my day will come. • 20. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Theory Of Grieving The theory of grief and loss was developed by Elizabeth Kubler Ross (1969) to apply to people who are grieving as well as those that are dying. Different people deal with grief differently but according to Kubler Ross suggested that when people grieve they will go through these stages; denial, anger, bargaining, depressionand acceptance. Sometimes loss is expected and sometime it is a surprise to people. The first stage; denial is about the person who is grieving will feel numb and shocked and would not be willing to accept that their loved one has passed away or is terminally ill (Kubler Ross, 1969). This relates to Jason Martins who has lost his mother due to an illness. This theory was used to be able to understand how Jason is feeling... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Social workers can improve empowerment to a grieving person by ensuring that they have the support that they need (Parkes, 1986/2007) this includes support from the community and neighbours as this experience will offer the bereaved person encouragement to continue living their life. When service users are grieving they are vulnerable therefore social workers should establish their professional relationship with them using honesty and transparency (PCF domain 2 Values and Ethics) therefore, the client does not identify their social worker as a personal friend. Social workers can prevent oppression and discrimination by ensuring that anti oppressive and anti discriminatory policies are in place (PCF domain 3 Diversity) and they should ensure that they are aware of the challenges that service users face due to their emotional state and their identity. The grief and loss theory has been criticised by Corr et al (1997) who stated that there is not real life evidence to prove that people do go through the stages one (1) to stage five (5). Also the theory was criticised for not acknowledging the limitations of the model, for example, people do not always go through all the five (5) stages. Another criticism of the theory is that using the word stage to describe the grieving process implies how inconsiderate it is as it forces the bereaved to internalise their feelings waiting for that stage to pass which will affect their life in the long ... The Role of Music in Forming and Transforming Identities Write an essay of 2,500 words on the following topic: With reference to two contrasting musical forms and cultural traditions, discuss the role of music in forming and transforming identities. Introduction This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and transformation of identities within the emosubculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition. The subculture of emo music engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself and those who were drawn to its spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in depth analysis of points made by scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to that of dance music. Dance music has become increasingly popular in the current popular music scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that can be anaylsed and by exploring the contrasting features of these two music forms and their cultural traditions, it will be possible to conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms identities today. Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in particular, youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. The average daily census of patients on the unit is roughly 23 patients with an increase of 5% during the winter months. There are nearly 50,000 patients admitted annually to this unit with 47,670 discharged home. The hospital is located in Serra Mesa and serves the residents of this region as well as the surrounding area with a mean age of the patient being 52. The patients seeking care are mostly English or Spanish speaking, but represent a wide variety of cultures. The RNs on this unit are working with patients in a 4:1 ratio leading to a fast paced workflow and heavy workload for the nurses. Staff nurses on the unit expressed their frustration with the current practice regarding the frequency of PIV catheter replacements, stating that it was time consuming and contributed to patient dissatisfaction. The process of replacing a PIV can often be time consuming and may take multiple attempts in order to successfully insert a new PIV. Research supports a change in practice that address these concerns. Essentially what has been postulated is a simple cause and effect relationship: media exposure leads to a behavioral change. And as of recently, video games, in particular, have been the subject of increased scrutiny in the context of this relationship and once again there is evidence to support such a relationship. However, a review of available data published by the American Psychological Association (Granic, Lobels, Engels, 2014) has suggested that another, more positive cause and effect relationship may be at work with this type of media as it has grown in visibility and mainstream acceptance. One such trend that has emerged from a review of multiple studies is that playing video games can result in an increase in problem solving skills. This has largely gone overlooked by the popular press and the public at large who instead continue to focus on the link to aggressive behavior. And it is also important to consider that the findings of the APA do not disprove this link; this potential increase in problem solving ability and the separate increase of aggressive tendencies are not necessarily mutually exclusive to one another. In fact, it is entirely likely that there is one singular reason that both occur as a result of playing video games: interactivity. Interactivity in the context of video games constitutes a deep immersion in an entertaining fiction at a level that other visual media cannot match. James Paul Gee (2007) clarifies this point further nothing happens until a player acts and makes decisions... words and deeds are all placed in the context of an interactive relationship between the player and the world. And ultimately, an interactive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, even if the population of a country is higher, that doesn t necessarily mean that higher e waste will be produced. In figure 3, it shows that there is no correlation between the number of population and number of e waste generated in each country. Why does higher population not necessarily mean higher e waste? That s because not everyone in that country may be able to buy technology. People in those countries may be poor and e waste generation is related to the amount of individual s income. Figure 4 suggests that electronic waste produced is related to the income of consumers meaning the amount of e waste produced is increasing with the buyers individual wealth a.k.a purchasing power. Why should we recycle electronic wastes? Three reasons: Economics benefits, public health benefits, and environmental benefits. This committee decided that the United States should retain nuclear superiority, in the event that international relations deteriorated following World War II (US Department of Energy). This decision is a foreshadowing of the Cold War, and nuclear arms race which followed the dropping of nuclear weapons on Japan. The interim committee also decreed that a regulatory system should be created to control the development of nuclear weapons, since other nations would inevitably obtain the technology needed to develop weapons. Possibly, the most influential decision made by the interim committee was to keep the details of the atomic bomb a secret, to maintain the shock effect, until after it had been dropped on Japan. Two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The first bomb dropped was a uranium bomb, nick named Little Boy, was untested before its detonation (US Department of Energy). A conflict resolution is both individuals having an understanding and coming to an agreement on the conflict. The conflict can be resolved by both parties having a perspective of the other point of views. According to, Bisno, H. (1988), Conflict, arguments, and change are natural parts of our lives, as well as the lives of every agency, organization, and nation. Conflict resolution is a way for two or more parties to find a peaceful solution to a disagreement among them. The disagreement may be personal, financial, political, or emotional. When a dispute arises, often the best course of action is negotiation to resolve the disagreement. The goals of negotiation is to produce a solution that all parties can agree to, work as quickly as possible to find this solution, and improve, not hurt, the relationship between the groups in conflict. Conflict resolution through negotiation can be good for all parties involved. Often, each side will get more by participating in negotiations than they would by walking away, and it can be a way for your group to get resources that might otherwise be out of reach. His greatest hope for success in life now rested on one individual his young son Ludwig (Viegas 12). He gave Ludwig, music lessons from when he was very young. Many accounts believe that Ludwig s father was abusive in his lessons. So dedicated to improving Ludwig s musicianship, he would beat him or lock him in the cellar. Since these events took place when Beethoven was at such an impressionable age, it is hard to tell how much of his later obsession with music came from a love of the craft or from a drive instilled by his domineering father (Viegas 13). Regardless of his father s dominance, Beethoven s musical prodigy was very natural for him. This is proven by the fact that although his father encouraged him to play pre existing compositions, Beethoven composed his own. In 1779, German composer Christian Gottlob Neefe took over Ludwig s father s role as a music teacher. Mild mannered and well educated, he inspired Beethoven to pursue his talent for composing music further, and in 1782, Neefe decided to publish Beethoven s compositions.
