Minimum Limited Drinking Age Law
Minimum limited drinking age law in America was passed more than 30 years
ago. Therefore, it needed to be altered to catch up with today s world. Teenagers
today are no longer the kind of teenager back in the 1980s. Now, they have access
to information on the Internet, they were taught how alcoholic drinks affect to the
body, they were supervised by their parents closely. Moreover, teenagers even have
legal access to voting, driving, owning a car,...and they can be jailed up if they
break the law, sentenced in prison if the crime was serious enough. Therefore,
teenager should be able to control of their life and have access to alcoholas a right
they supposed to have long time ago.
Secondly, by legalize drinking age to eighteen; the government can easily control
alcohol abuse. A study was conducted by the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill to see whether underage people can buy beer and liquor through online
websites. They made 8 people, aged from 18 20, to lie about their age when
ordering via alcoholic drinks selling website. 100 orders were made and then, they
counted the number of successful orders. A shocking result was revealed: 45 of the
orders were successfully made and received. Only 28 were rejected because the
person making the order was found to be underage. The remaining orders did not go
through because of technical glitches or because no one was home when delivery
attempts were made. The result of this experiment has shown the reality of how easy it

Book Understanding When people think of slavery today they think of all blacks
being treated unfairly and beaten all the time. Slavery is a serious and very rough
topic due to the horror stories of beatings and how poorly some of the slaves were
treated. That was not the case for all slaves, in fact some slaves had it easier than
others depending on the overseers and the behavior of the slaves. Some were
treated well and had love interests with their owners and some would look more to
their religion of Christianity for how they should treat their slaves, which was
usually less harsh. There are many factors that come into play when talking about
the life of a slave in the south before the Civil War. In this paper I will talk a lot
about different ways and reasons why slaves were treated the way they were, how
the newspaper talks about the slave life and what the true meaning of The Longest
Memory is. Slave owners viewed slaves in several different ways, which can be put
into three categories. First is the discipline category. The discipline category
consists of a heavy hand which is used for slaves who disobey. Discipline with a
heavy hand is very brutal. They use discipline to show the slaves that they need to
behave because they will whip you as much as they need to in order to keep the
slaves in line and stop trying to run away. In the book The Longest Memory by Fred

The Lasting Effects of the Columbian Exchange During the Age of Discovery
It should no longer come as any great surprise that Columbus was not the first to
discover the Americas Carthaginians, Vikings, and even St. Brendan may have set
foot on the Western Hemisphere long before Columbus crossed the Atlantic. But
none of these incidental contacts made the impact that Columbus did. Columbus and
company were bound to bring more than the benefits of Christianity and double entry
bookkeeping to America. His voyages started the Columbian Exchange, a
hemispherical swap of peoples, plants, animals and diseases that transformed not
only the world he had discovered but also the one he had left.

He enormously increased the number of kinds of foods and quantities of food by
both plant and animal sources. New food crops have enabled people to live in places
where they previously had only slim means of feeding themselves. Each new cargo
brought new changes to the European diet, helping to improve eating and
strengthening national identities with cultural foods. Some of the exotic new crops
had humble beginnings; before the tomato made its way into European diets, it was a
weed in the Aztec maize fields. The potatoes which hung on to Spanish ships wasn t
welcomed at first either; Europeans found it unappetizing. But packing more calories
per acre than any European grain, the potato eventually became the dominant food of
northern Europe s working class.
A few of the other plants that took root in the European palate was the cacao bean
for chocolate, lima beans, corn, peanuts, pumpkins, squash, cashews, and pineapples.
Sunflowers, petunias, marigolds and poinsettias also made their way to Europe.
Several other plants of importance include quinine, tobacco, and sugar cane. Quinine
is a malaria fighting plant found in the Peruvian Andes. Sugar cane is especially
important because of its impact on slavery. While originally a European plant, it
thrived in tropical American forests. Scholars estimate that each ton of sugar cost the
life on one worker in the New World. As Indians perished, African slaves
Ethiopian Commodity Exchange
Executive summary
Agricultural market in Ethiopian has been long plagued by high transaction costs and
non integrated market information. Small scale farmers came to the market with
little information.
Ethiopian commodity exchange, the newly established organization, is providing a
market place where buyer and sellers can come together to trade and be assured of
quality, delivery and payment. Currently, ECX has 496 members 346 are suppliers
and 150 sellers from the coffee industry. ECX started operation of trading coffee in
November 2008.

This research will contribute and benefit business organizations by making awareness
and by identifying problems to give some possible solutions.
1.2 Statement of the problem
Agriculture has always been the backbone of Ethiopia s economy. Yet, lifting millions
of Ethiopians out of poverty requires transformation from centuries old subsistence
agriculture to dynamic, technology driven market oriented production. This can only
happen if the market itself functions in such a way as to serve the needs of all
concerned stakeholder of the market.
Ethiopian coffee marketing system is also on age old tradition. To date, coffee
markets have been characterized by high cost and high risks of transacting, forcing
much of Ethiopia into global isolation.
Coffee trading is done on the basis of auction system which backed by poor
technology and clearing and payment system which drives up the processing and
marketing cost and these leads to high consumer price this forcing coffee exporter
to be powerless into global market. In addition to his small scale farmers come to the
market with little information and are at the mercy of coffee supplier or collector in
the nearest and only market they know, unable to negotiate better prices or reduces
their market risks.
Doing business in a standard and acceptable way is one of the competitive
advantages in this global market, especially for
The Characteristics Of Alexander Hamilton As A American
Hero
America has long been considered a great, powerful country. From its beginning, the
United States had the potential to be something revolutionary. The idea of a
democracy was, in the 1700 s, strange. While many men are regarded as key elements
in the birth of America, one man stands out, despite his sometimes being
overshadowed by fellow Founding Fathers. Alexander Hamiltonwas an immigrant,
soldier, and the first Secretary of the United StatesTreasury, among his other
contributions to America. He had dreams for his adopted country and was highly
determined to see them to fruition and create a new, remarkable nation. Alexander
Hamilton embodies the characteristics of an epic hero because he was a great
warrior, he was capable of great deeds of strength and courage, and he is a national
hero. Alexander Hamilton is known as a great statesman, but he also exhibited the
epic hero trait of a great warrior. He volunteered to fight in the Revolutionary War,
then was promoted to lieutenant colonel and aide de camp under George
Washington. During his time as a secretary and aide de camp for Washington, he
longed deeply for military glory. Hamilton s traits as a great warrior are demonstrated
in abundance throughout the Revolutionary War:
He commanded his guns in the battles of Long Island, helped fortify Harlem Heights,
and employed two artillery pieces effectively at White Plains. He led his company
throughout the New Jersey campaign and saw action at Trenton and Princeton.
Greek Government Essay
Forms of Government in the Greek City States
The Greek city states had different forms of government systems as we have seen in
Sparta and Athens where one had an oligarchy government and the other a democratic
one respectively. Monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy and democracy are the
forms of government which were found in the city states of Greece.
Democracy is defined as the rule of the people, as stated by Brand (n.d). It was first
developed in Athens by Cleisthenes and it was based on the principle that all
citizens( native born Athenian men) of the city state of Athens had a right to attend
and speak at the assembly excluding women , slaves and metics. The only real

Cartwright (2013) states that in the Greek world monarchies were rare and were
often only distinguishable from a tyranny when the hereditary ruler was more
benevolent and ruled in the genuine interest of his people. The common examples of
monarchies were the ones in Macedonia and Epeiros where the ruler shared power
with an assembly. Sparta also was ruled by two kings although it had a citizen
assembly.
Another form of government is tyranny. Tyranny is a rule by one powerful dictator
who has seized power without legal right. However , Greek tyrants were not
necessarily evil rulers but they simply looked after their own interests. This type of
government existed in many states, particularly in the 6th century BC. Syracuse in
Sicily had a run of famous tyrants such as Dionysios from 405 BCE and his son
Dionysios II, who took over in 367 BCE ( Cartwright, 2013).
During 700 BC, aristocracies ruled the earliest poleis which were later replaced by
oligarchies. An aristocratic government places power in the hands of a small,
privileged ruling class. This is contrasted to a monarchy as it is a rule by an
individual while in an aristocratic government a group of noble people rule the
people. In this government the common citizens had no say in political issues of the

Designer Patrick Robinson leaves the company (loss of key staff)
According to the article, Gap is facing a difficult situation as their head designer,
Patrick Robinson, leaves the company. Retail analysts believe that the company needs
to be downsized by closing unproductive stores, they need to make management
changes, and they need improved products that are consistent with the merchandising
strategies. The basic problem is that Gap s image has declined and people are starting
to associate them as tired, commoditized, driven by price. Gap needs to be
repositioned, and they need someone who understands the customer, that will turn the
brand around. Gap s strategy is to close all stores that are underperforming in order
to cut costs. They will also spend more money on advertising and marketing to a
younger market and to minorities such as Hispanics, Asians, and African Americans.
By doing so, they hope to acquire greater market share. They will also use new
technology that will locate products online and in stores.
In my opinion, I think that Gap s image has definitely started to decline. Today, most

been discovered has a primary affect to a cryptosystem and a secondary affect to a
cryptosystem. The vulnerability in question is a weakness in the MD5 algorithm
that would allow for collisions in output. As a result, attackers can generate
cryptographic tokens or other data that illegitimately appear to be authentic. Now
the secondary affect is that the MD5 hashes may allow for certificate spoofing on a

petition is to be able to see her brother and sister at their job back in Vermont the
reason that she can t do this is that she works a lot of hours with little breaks. When
Charlie came to visit Lyddie in Chapter eighteen she is excited to see Charlie, her
brother, after not seeing him for so long that when he leaves she starts to feel

Charlie asks if Rachel, her sister, can come back to Vermont with him then Lyddie
helps Rachel pack for the trip, but before Rachel came leave she has to say I ll

How Does Elie Wiesel Use Metaphors In Night

detrimental consequences to standing by inequity and beneficial effects to taking
action to the subjugation of an individual. While integrating anaphor and metaphor,
Wiesel reinforces his theme by illustrating the environment of detestable
concentration camps in Poland to initiate the conflict of the struggle between
protecting others over personal interests. His objective is to disseminate his unjust
experience to ensure society never loses knowledge of the atrocity and to prevent
repeated history. Through unveiling his arduous journey, Wiesel creates an

personality is sending him into dark state of self condemnation and a lost will to

eventually it leads to a feeling of guilt riddance knowing you had the power to make
a good difference. Next, he expresses, From the depths of the mirror, a corpse was

Why Is Fear Important In Lord Of The Flies
Though people make a majority of their decisions subconsciously, fear is at the
core of them if people examined them closely. The world often operates on fear and
it is unavoidable. This constant presence of fear means that it is important to
understand how it affects humans and ask why is fear has such a major role in
people s lives. William Goldingwrote Lord of the Flies as a way to explore the many
aspects of human nature, including the role fear plays in our lives. Golding
illustrates how boys would behave if left on an island with no adults. Each boy
comes from a different background, and when they come together on the island, fear
is at the root of many of their actions as they work to survive. Golding demonstrates
that there are a few reasons for this fear.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, people are more inclined to have a false positive reaction. As people
panic more than necessary when faced with fear and anxiety, they allow the fear to
play a bigger part in their lives. Golding depicts this point in Lord of the Flies
when the boys are confronted with the idea of a beast. Near the end of the book,
the boys are acting out the killing of a beast when they noticed A thing was
crawling out of the forest. It came darkly, uncertainly. The shrill screaming that
rose before the beast was like a pain. The beast stumbled into the horseshoe (152).
The boys, led by Jack, go on to kill the beast like creature, who turns out to be
Simon. The boys risk a false positive reaction and overreact to their uncertainty.
While some may argue that this example does not show how overreacting to fear
saved the boy, that is irrelevant to the fact of whether or not the boys overreact,
which they did. Humans continue to panic when encountering fear, and thus plays a
major part in everyday
Video Game Reduces Social Anxiety
Video Game Reduces Social Anxiety Whether it is in a real world or cyber space,
meeting people seems to be an almost inevitable part of modern daily life. Meeting
or interacting with new people can be stressful. When people encounter a stranger,
they try to avoid or reduce it by getting as much information as possible in the
course of the conversation or interaction. There is an average of two gamers in
each game playing U.S household as shown in the research of ESA Entertainment

BMW s strategy for value creation lies in its meticulous engineering, including design
and styling. BMW designers pride themselves in delivering the unique styling that
BMW is known for. They strive for designs that generate emotions В– Works of art .
This is evident in the fact that many of the designers came from art or industrial
design schools. The current design process involves two full size clay models В–
which are extremely costly and time consuming. However, the use of clay models
provides a visual representation of the final product that many felt irreplaceable. By
being able to physically see and touch a model of the final product the model can be
handcrafted to make the slightest details apparent. Once the models are complete
they are captured digitally by a laser scanner and brought into a Computer Aided
Design (CAD) System.
The current process is working well to deliver the unique styling and quality that
defines BMW, however, it is very time consuming and a major roadblock to reducing
the product development time. Senior management utilized the functional managers
from the five key process areas that accounted for about 90% of the critical processes
involved in product development. These managers identified three main changes to
the current system that needed to take place in order to meet the development time
reduction goals: Increased parallelization of design tasks, elimination of some design
iterations, and quicker completion of the

The specific contributions combat engineers made during this operation primarily
came from within the 82nd Airborne Division. Under the leadership of Brigadier
General (BG) James Gavin, his paratroopers were tasked with dropping in northeast
Netherlands to secure bridges at the towns of Grave and Nijmegan. The 82nd
Airborne Division s primary target was securing the bridges at Nijmegan to facilitate
the Allied Forces XXX Corps, who would be arriving through Nijmegan to a town
called Arnhem. Arnhem was a town that laid on the German / Dutch border. Allied

that town.
Within the 82nd Airborne Division was the 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR).
Assigned to the 504th PIR was Charlie Company 307th Engineer Battalion. On the
third day of Operation Market Garden, the 82nd Airborne, under BG Gavin, was

Fog In North America
1). Introduction Fog is one of the dangerous weather, which reduces visibility for
drivers, and can cause accidents or even death. In North America, fog occurs
sometimes, but in some areas, it occurs almost every day. There are five places
where fog occurs almost every day. The names of those places are Grand Banks

vehicular accidents in thick fog, every driver should reduce speed, check the

Road Ragers
When one starts to drive, he can discover many different people. He begins to
realize there are types of drivers. Once one categorizes these people, it can become
easy to loathe sharing the road with certain drivers. Sometimes it is hard because
they are irresponsible; other times it is because they drive as if they don t have
anywhere to be and make the road congested. They worst of all types of drivers are
those that drive at 100 mph in areas where no one should be going over half that.
Ideally, one would want to avoid the reckless Road ragers, the overly careful
Sunday Drivers, and the speedy Dragsters, at all costs. The Road ragers are the
drivers that think they own the road. They don t care about anyone. When
someone is going too slow, these guys will ride on top of his bumper; an easy
solution to this problem is to ease off the accelerator and go even slower to let the

the private industry is fundamental to increased accessibility to space; furthermore,
it is essential for the long term health of the scientific pursuits to which NASA is
dedicated. The national space programs of Earth have, so far, failed to provide a
reasonable alternative to the obscene costs incurred through the crude launching of
payloads into orbit atop massive and failure prone chemical rockets. While no
alternative to the use of chemical rocketry has yet been proven, one for reducing its
price is just getting off the ground. The increasing privatization of the launch industry
has already seen dramatic reductions in the cost of lifting a satellite from the surface
of the Earth to LEO.
One private organization, SpaceX, has seen enormous success in this area. The

Make in India: the road ahead for India s Development Saga or is it just another
rhetoric?
Abstract:
Make in India campaign is an initiative that attracts the industrialists to make India a
manufacturing hub that helps to create jobs. India ranks 142nd in the ease of doing
business and it is becoming increasingly difficult for both Indian and foreign
businessmen to start a business in India. The infrastructure in India is not good
enough to attract investors. There is a lack of proper connectivity between the cities
in India. The other bottleneck are taxation, Government policies, labor laws, ease of
obtaining licenses and land acquisition. India must also compete with its neighbor
China as both the nations are seen as growing ... Show more content on

Historically, India has always been an agricultural nation. The major share of GDP
is from this sector till the early 1950s and 60s. Down the line, its share began to
decline and service sector started to emerge. Today service sector players a prominent
role in the economy of India. On the other hand, Industrial sector has been growing
right from the beginning but the growth is minimal when compared to service sector.
The Following graph depicts the percentage share of Individual Sectors in the
country. Figure 1: Shares of Agriculture, Industryand Services in India
As observed clearly from the above graph, the growth of Indian Manufacturing Sector
has been minimal. This can be attributed to the myriad factors that hinder the Indian
Industrial sector. On a closer introspection, there are major reasons in the country
which holds back the Indian Economy. Firstly, India lacks the optimum prerequisite
for the growth of Industrial Sector i.e Infrastructure. India is lagging in terms of
infrastructure and more private players and public private partnership should be
encouraged to bring about the change. One such example is Jamshedpur built by
TATA. It shows that the problems are able to overcome with proper policy changes.
Secondly, power poses the next hindrance for the Industrial Sector. The issues
related to power should be resolved as early as possible in the near future. Lack of
power is a big hurdle to the running of industries. Many
A Comparison Of The Old South By Belle Reve
By virtue of drawing the parallels between the ideals of the Old South and Dubois
inherent struggle to actualize her irreconcilable beliefs, it becomes important to
understand the method that Dubois utilizes in order to cope with her internal
struggles. The loss of Belle Reve amalgamated with the failure of society to accept her
ultimately distorts her perception of reality. As aforementioned earlier, Dubois tries
to maintain the conventions of the Old South, struggling to internalize the notion that
those set of ideals had evanesced away from the society in which she had shoehorned
herself into. The social stratification of the Old South dictated that Southern Belles be
wed with a respectable and southernly gentleman; moreover, Allan... Show more

Moreover, the significance of selecting Mitchell as her man revolves around the fact
that he conforms to the collective consciousness of modern society. Her
idiosyncrasies and unorthodox presence in society dawn upon her as she makes
haste to improve her general perception from those surrounding her. Consequently,
Mitchell plays an instrumental role in preventing Dubois descent into insanity
because he bridges the gap between her intrinsic self and her false persona by
serving as an empathetic figure capable of understanding the plight of the Southern
Belle. Dubois illusory nature is fundamentally illustrated by her desire to emulate an
artists cafГ© on the Left Bank in Paris (Williams 88) whilst on a date with Mitchell;
moreover, the significance of France as the self perceived location of her romantic
endeavors with Mitchell suggests that Dubois is trying to retain an acceptable
fragment of her identity. To elaborate on this sense of identity, it is important to
realize that Dubois takes pride in her French heritage as characterized by her
propensity to tell those around her that she is French by extraction (Williams 55). Her
reiterations of French culture and language serve to illustrate two fundamental points:
firstly, Dubois acknowledges the incongruous nature of her Southern Belle ideals that
hinders her ability to form meaningful relations with people. Secondly, by virtue of

an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer. Walter, also
known as Walt, was born on December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Illinois. He won 22
Academy Awards, and was the founder of theme parks Disneyland (in Anaheim,
California) and Walt DisneyWorld (in Orlando,Florida). Walt attended McKinley
High School in Chicago, where he took drawing and photography classes and was
the cartoonist for his school newspaper. In the evening time, he took courses at the
Chicago Art Institute. When Walter was 16, he dropped out of school to join the
Army but was not able to because he didn t meet the age requirement. Instead of
joining the army, he joined the Red Cross (a company that helps people in need)
and was sent to France for a year to drive an ambulance; he stayed in France until
1919 where He moved back to the United States. In 1919, Disney moved to Kansas

The National Student Loan Debt
STOP.
In the time it took to read that word, 3000 extra dollars was just added to the national
student loan debt. According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, college
debt now ranks second in the greatest debt owed besides a home mortgage.
Unfortunately, the affordability of obtaining a post secondary education no longer
exists. Americans are now faced with over $ 1 trillion dollars in student debt. With
such a huge escalation in college debt, we are facing a generation where over 50% of
graduates will owe debt (McDaniel).
While having debt after graduation is reasonable, it s unimaginably difficult to
assume that anyone considered middle class, could repay the average 25,000
dollars of debt ( Tuition and Fees and Room and Board over Time ). Unfortunately,
this crisis hasn t been expressed as a pivotal concern for many citizens. As a college
student myself, I understand firsthand and empathize with individuals who are
overwhelmed with college debt. I remember looking at the price tags of each college
before I submitted my application. The idea of being burdened with debt for trying to
obtain a higher education, didn t make much sense to me. It was hard for me to
grasp that in order to increase my socioeconomic status, I would have to take the
risk of being buried in debt. Financial aid was probably the biggest factor I took into
consideration when selecting colleges because I wanted to avoid graduating with
debt. College debt is not a light hearted matter and

Partial Seizure Essay
PARTIAL (FOCAL) SEIZURE PARTIAL SEIZURE begins focally and results from
abnormal electrical discharges in a circumscribed portion of the brain. The partial
seizure may be clinically manifested by a comparably restricted disturbance of
cognition, behavior, sensation or movement (Marrlow and Redding, 2009).
1.Simple Partial Seizures: Simple partial seizures are defined as abnormal neuronal
discharges occurring in only one hemisphere of the brain (partial) in which
consciousness is preserved (simple). These episodes usually last a few seconds but
can last longer, and are often referred to the individual as an aura that portends a
second seizure type. Depending on the part of the brain afflicted by the excessive
firing, the symptoms of the aura are varied and may include paresthesias,
hallucinations, dysphagia, sweating, flushing, or motor disturbances, such as jerking
(Clore, 2010).
2.Complex Partial Seizures (Temporal Lobe): A complex partial seizure (CPS)
occurs when epileptic activity spreads to both temporal lobes in the brain. A
complex partial seizure often occurs after a simple partial seizure. In some children,
they lead to tonic clonic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Partial seizures with secondary generalization: Spreading of the epileptiform
discharge during CPS can result in secondary generalization with a tonic clonic
convulsion. During the spread of the ictal discharge throughout the hemisphere,
contra lateral versive turning of the head, dystonic posturing, and tonic clonic
movements of the extremities and face, including eye blinking, may be noted
(Kliegman et al, 2011 and Devinsky et al., 2014).
II GENERALIZED SEIZURES A generalized seizure is one in which the neuronal
discharge occurs in both hemispheres of the brain and may involve a depressed level
of consciousness (Blumstein Friedman, 2007 and American Epilepsy society,
2015).There are two main categories of generalized seizures: convulsive and non
convulsive (Clore, 2010).

Outpatient Clinic Case Summary
Case Presentation A 45 year old male presented to our Outpatient Clinic with
history of a swelling involving the upper part of left leg. He had noticed this
swelling 6 months back, which had gradually increased in size. There was no
history of associated pain, limitation of movements of the knee, fever or swelling
involving any other part of the body. On examination, there was a solitary, globular
swelling involving the upper lateral part of left tibia measuring approximately 5cm
by 6 cm. Local temperature was not raised. The surface was smooth, margins were
well defined and consistency was bony. The skin overlying the swelling was normal
and there were no visible veins, sinuses or scar marks. Examination of the knee and
ankle joints was within normal limits and the distal neurovascular status was normal.
Plain radiographs of the leg revealed a well defined, eccentric, expansile,

The cortex is expanded and thinned out. New bone formation is not seen. Joint
extension is rare [ref]. On histopathology, the tumor is characterized by numerous
giant cells, which vary in size from 10 Вµ to 100 Вµ and exhibit many centrally
placed uniform nuclei. The other components of the tumor are the spindle cells.
These are oval, elongated and contain large nuclei with a small amount of acidophilic
cytoplasm. It is believed that the spindle cells are the malignant component of the
tumor rather than the giant cells. Therefore, the tumor aggressiveness depends on the
spindle cells and not the giant cells [ref]. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment of
GCTs [ref]. It must be remembered that recurrences are very common following
surgery, the most common reason being inadequate tumor tissue removal. The
various treatment modalities are as follows
The Problem of Media and Violence
Violence has become a serious problem in America. From Sandy Hook Elementary to
the Aurora Colorado shootings, terrorism has crept deeper into the culture. From
1982 1992 there were eight incidences of terrorism. From 2002 2012 there have been
seventeen (Geigner). The growth at which these events are spreading is exponential.
Modern terrorismdid not begin until approximately the 1950s when it changed from
guerrilla tactics used by a nation to the to the type common today, non state
terrorism. These assailants fight for no flag, have no rules, and will do whatever they
feel like at any given moment (Zalman). The violencethese radicals produce is
cataclysmic. However, instead of being distressed by this violence, citizens latch
onto the offenders. They give the assailant the fame and popularity that he or she
desires. For example, within hours of Boston Bombings, the faces of the two
assassins were broadcasted everywhere in the media, and rightly so. The police
needed the help of the public to find and capture these criminals. But constant media
coverage three weeks after the event was unnecessary. Many say that sensationalist
media, not gun control is the reason for attacks of violence. Those who terrorize the
nation are held up almost as heroes. Their names are plastered on every news station
around the world. Assailants will always find ways to kill even with the extreme
control of guns. But, without the publicity and the fame, psychopaths would not need
to kill innocent

The Failure Of The Hippie Movement
The hippie movement is prevalent peace group that has been in action since the

they did have some success. Protest were often peaceful, but were still successful in

Part A: Potential Advantages and Shortfalls of Various Globalization Strategies
Globalization strategies have been an issue for any organization that intends to
increase its international presence. Free Range Foods has decided to grow operations
in France, the United Kingdom, and other regions throughout the globe. The
recommended strategies Free Range Foods should consider utilizing in order to
strengthen its position in the international market are 1) Merger and Acquisition

Producing and maintaining a product is hard enough domestically and is only further
compounded with the addition of taking further components into consideration.
A major factor that Free Range needs to consider is how they will like to set up
their international organization. According to Jones (2013), a multidomestic
strategy is defined as one which haswhen you have a corporateion headquarters
and establishesdevelop divisions in each country or region where ityou would like
to do business in. Authority in these divisions would be given to the managers
located in eachthere. The divisions would develop and market products in a way
that focuses on the region of the globe they are locatedin (Jones, 2013, p. 464). This
is important to consider because what Americans want out of a product can be very
different than what Europeans expect out of a product. For example, there are many
different types of cheeses available in Europe that are not available in America, so it
would be important to understand the culture and expectations of consumers in the
country/region where a company doesyou are doing business in. The Multidomestic
approach will allow you to form your products to satisfy the needs and wants of the
consumers in that area.
One of the primary factors to consider is the cost of establishing the business in a
foreign market. France maintains market for organic products but the products are
sold at a much higher rate than traditionally farmed
Compare And Contrast World Religions
Comparison and Contrast of World Religions The religions of the world, while
differing greatly in their specifics, are surprisingly similar. The three most prevalent
religions in the world are Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism, in that order. All believe
in a higher power that presides over and created man. Islam originated in
approximately 609 C.E., or Common Era, and Christianityoriginated around 33 C.E.
which is supposedly when Jesus Christ was crucified. The main prophet of Islam,
Muhammad, is supposedly of the lineage of Jesus Christ. Both religions consider
Abraham the father of the people of Israel, his son Ishmael being the Father of the
Arabs and his son Isaac being the Father of the Hebrews . Hinduism originated in

They are also aligned as the transcendent Godhead, Shiva, the cosmic lord, Vishnu
and the cosmic mind, Brahma. (...) This is much like the Christian trinity of God as
the Father, Son and Holy Ghost (HinduNet pg. 1). Brahma creates a new world
once the old one is destroyed, Vishnu protects the world until Shiva arrives to
destroy it again. Hindus believe this to be a never ending cycle of creation. Islam
does not believe in any form of Trinity. All three religions do believe that their
respective god of creation is the source of all life on Earth. Islam and Christianity
both follow the traditional belief of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden, while
Hinduism believes that Brahma simply takes pieces of himself and forms man. The
similarities may seem to be overwhelming, but in reality these religions differ more
than they resemble one another.
Hinduism is the only religion of the three discussed that believes on more than one
God. Christianity believes in the Holy Trinity, but these are essentially all parts of
God. Hinduism believes in many separate deities in addition to the main 3 stated
before. Islam, however, believes in a single god, Allah, and any form of Trinity is
considered blasphemous. An excerpt from the Koran reads, and do not speak of a
trinity, for it would be better for you to stop. God alone is the One worthy of
worship: glory to God exalted beyond having a son (pg. 171 75). Although
monotheism and polytheism distinguish these
The Theory Of Symbolic Interactionism
Introduction
The last theoretical perspective I have applied to my movie selection, Dead Man
Walking, is the symbolic interaction theory. The theory was primarily established by
American philosopher George Herbert Mead in the 1920 s and the term was later
coined by American sociologist Herbert Blumer in the 1960 s (McClelland, 2000).
Symbolic interactionism examines society on a small scale and focuses on interactions
between individuals and how these relations impact social order (Brown, 2013). To
comprehend human behavior, we must understand what the idea or situation means
to the participant (Dubose, 2015). The same situation can have different meanings to
different people and therefore affect people in different ways (Dubose, 2015).
Throughout this analysis, I will apply the theory of symbolic interactionism to
explain Poncelot s behaviors and interactions with other people in his life.
Background Information
Poncelot was an inmate on Death Row in a Louisiana Prison in the 1990 s. He was
incarcerated for six years while awaiting his execution by lethal injection. He was
convicted of killing two teenagers as well as brutally raping the female victim. At the
beginning of the movie, Poncelot denied the allegations against him and blamed both
crimes on his partner. Throughout the movie, he portrayed himself as an arrogant,
racist, sexist, and condescending man. He was shunned by nearly all of the people he
came in contact with and enjoyed the negative reaction his behavior
What I Learned From Failure Research Paper
The lessons we learn from failure will help us achieve success later in life. My
experience in seventh grade in not making the volleyball team was, at the time, the
hardest thing that I had gone through. In the weeks that followed tryouts, it was that
failure that led me to discover what I am good at and, in turn, being successful from
it. Not making the team helped me become a better soccer player and taught me that
success in one thing can come from failure of another.
It was the beginning of the seventh grade when I tried out for the volleyball team. I
had been practicing all summer long to get better and I felt like I would be good
enough to make the team. I practiced for many hours each day to improve on my
skills and I saw progress each day. Bumping, setting, spiking and serving, I practiced
it all. I knew that most of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which was serving. I couldn t serve overhand as well as the other girls. I tried so
hard to make it over the net each time, but couldn t make it over consistently. This
was so frustrating for me because I knew this would hurt my chance of making the
team. At the end of the day, the coaches gave me a letter saying that I made the first
cut and they want to see me play again. When the next day of tryouts came, I felt
like I had a good chance of making the team. That day after tryouts, I received a
second letter but this one said that I didn t make the team, to keep working hard for
tryouts next year. I was crushed that I didn t make the team. I learned that volleyball
was not my strong suit and that I need to focus on other things that I m good at, like
Compare And Contrast The Origin Of The Buffalo And The
Coyote
Native Americans have a very interesting culture, so you should take some time and
read about what I have to say. The stories The First False Face , The Origin of The
Buffalo and the Corn , and The Coyote all have many similarities, but a couple things
are different.
The moon rises with it s reflection shown in the water. Stones tied the neck of a
coyote. The coyote leaps into the water. Nothing comes up not even a few bubbles
to show there is life from the coyote. No movement is shown except for the little
blue fox staring at the water. The fox walks away while the coyote stays in the cold
dark water. In the stories The First False Face , The Origin of The Buffalo and the
Corn , and The Coyote , they all have wild animals. The First False Face , The
Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn , and The Coyote all have Native Americans
tribes in their stories. All of these stories mentioned above have many similarities so
I decided to list a few. In The First False Face it talks about the Seneca tribe. In The
Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn in talks about the myth of the Cheyenne tribe, and
in The Coyote it talks about the Pueblo tribe. The second similarity is that in all the
stories it they have something to do with magic. The story The First False Face it
has characters that can move mountains and in reality that could never be done. In
the story The Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn it has an old lady making food out
of nothing sand filling up bowls.

The people s lack of morals led to an even more severe issue, a severe decline in
population because of urbanization and industrialization that was under way

acts that would increase births. The decree outlined several requirements that must
be followed: 1.Abortion would only be permitted when it was a danger to the

was also a chance to express themselves through arts. But what art is capable of

is the people s image of what s happening in their community. Folk art is the art of
the everyday. First of all what is racial pride? It is when a person thinks highly of
their race. For instance, in the poem [Document C] The Creation , the speaker

The Leading Cause Of Acquired Disability On The
Patients...
1. Introduction to Intervention
Strokes are known as the leading cause of acquired disability in adults where
between 20 30% are left unable to walk, and leaving those who are able to walk,
with a moderate to severe walking disability (Maguire et al., 2012). This disability
results in a huge socioeconomic impact on the patients and their families lives. In
order to improve their quality of life, an improvement in balance is the important first
step in which is crucial to enable more independent movement, for example walking.
A stroke can be brought on by many different factors like age, gender and family
history all of which one cannot control. Others are lifestyle factors like high blood
pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, obesity or being over weight, poor diet, lack of
exercise and drinking too much alcohol (stroke foundation Australia). Currently there
is no universally accepted treatment (Ward, 2005).
There is evidence to suggest that improved motor recovery occurs when the brain
uses the original neural system to control the movement as this is shown to represent
true recovery. Whereas, if new networks were to form in the unaffected hemisphere
of the brain, motor recovery will be reduced. As a result of using these new networks,
fine motor control is lost and employment of compensatory movement strategies are
associated with a poorer functional outcome (Nudo, 2007). The recovery of motor
skills following a stroke, like walking, relies on the brain s ability
Brugghen s Calling Of St. Matthew Of 1621
Dutch art created during the span of 1610 to 1630 display a vast array of thematic
categories. These categories include portraiture, genre, landscape, and history
paintings. In spite of such diversity towards subject matter, the artworks all have
certain characteristics in common with each other. Three of the shared, underlying
principles are an Italian influence, sense of attributing traits to the figures to increase
relatability, and emphasis on the humble. A tradition of journeying to Rome, Italy for
training or to simply improve upon one s artistic skills was carried out by many
Dutch history and genrewith landscape painters. As a result, the use of the Italians as
a source of inspiration and emulation can be identified in their works and presents one
of the underlying principles that connects the different thematic categories together.
Hendrick ter Brugghen was a history painter who belonged to the Utrecht
Caravaggists. Just as the name of the group implies, these artists were from Utrecht
and heavily influenced by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Ter Brugghen s
Calling of Saint Matthew of 1621 provides an exemplary example of this. It is not

The thematic categories of portraiture, genre, landscape, and history paintings
initially appear to have nothing in common. Upon further analyzation, however, they
share some significant, underlying principles. These include an influence from the
Italians, attributing characteristics to the figures so that the viewers can connect to
them, and focusing on the humble. History, genre with landscape, and portraiture
paintings all referenced back to older Italian artworks, while at the same time, genre
and other portrait pieces attempt to achieve relatability. Furthermore, history and
landscape art focus on the simple, plain, and humble through the

Santa Muerte Dichotomy
This belief of the next realm is the critical point of faith. Believing there is
something after death means there is a need to be validated by saints. This validation
is crucial when transcending to the next realms because it can determine the realm.
Knowing that human souls are not truly dead means that there is a need to
communicate with those spirits which are not dead either and are able to protect the
living such as Santa Muerte. If there was a true end to human life and the cycle of
the soul, there would not be a need to speak and worship gods. Catholic has a focus
on a paradise full of bliss after death. However, worshiping Santa Muerte means a
paradise during life. By praising her there is the possibility that through pledges
she will give you heaven on earth. Although the believers of this saint are viewed
as second class citizens, they worship her to protect them while engaged in crimes.
Moreover, a plethora of her followers are individuals who want to stay away from
drugs, or other crimes. The perception which saints such as Malverde and Santa
Muerte have created falls outside of the norm.... Show more content on

Moreover, this syncretism of narco culture and Catholics have also evolved in
Colombia. This phenomenon is explored in various movies La Virgen de Los

Wilmar. The story is focused around Fernando, who has been absent from Medellin
for thirty years. The film explores the romance, which forms between Fernando and
Alexis, who is a Sicario. While exploring churches and the city they witness and
cause various deaths. There is an apparent polarity between Alexis who has a great
level of devotion to the Catholic church but operates outside the moral standards

Transgender Case Study
Transgender individuals who experience discrimination, violence, or interpersonal
rejection are at risk for developing symptoms of depression. Studies reported
significantly higher levels of anxiety (26 38%) and depression (48 62%) within this
community (Pflum, Testa, Balsam, Goldblum, Bongar, 2015). Different ethnic
groups have varying experiences related to social support, gender based stressors, and
health outcomes. Racial outlook presents additional risk of prejudice and
discrimination for transgender individuals. Researchers noted that Caucasian and

Advantages Of Call Coverage In Healthcare
Call coverage: In this alignment, hospitals contracts with physicians and
specialists for providing on call coverage to patients in the emergency room,
compensation is made to specialists or physicians for their services. The hospitals

Memo for Motion Against Summary Judgment Essay
I.Introduction and Standard for Opposition to Summary Judgment
Crowell Academy, Inc. and Arturo Gomez, (hereinafter, collectively Crowell ) were
grossly negligent and used willful misconduct in their responsibilities involving the
fencing club. The bargaining power of Crowell was so grossly unequal so as to put
Lajuana Barnett at the mercy of Crowell s negligence. Lastly, the exculpatory clause
contained in the release form (see release form) is void as against public policy.
Consequently, under Maryland law, it is up to the trier of fact to determine if the
exculpatory clause is unenforceable. As such, there is a dispute as to the genuine
issue of material fact related to Crowell s Answer, Crowell can be liable to Lajauna

In the present case, the defendant was certified by the U.S. Fencing Association to
provide instruction in fencing and was to instruct fencing club members in the proper
methods of fencing. These are direct quotes taken from the release form signed by
the plaintiff. In signing the exculpatory clause, plaintiff was to release defendant
from any and all claims arising out of student s participation in fencing club activities.
In return, plaintiff was to receive instruction in the proper methods of fencing. This
includes proper instruction in putting on the safety equipment, arguably the most
important aspect of the sport of fencing. The wording any and all claims can be
construed as ambiguous. It would be against public policy to hold valid a claim that
released the defendant from any and all claims arising out of fencing club activities,
including claims arising from the defendant s negligence. The plaintiff signed the
exculpatory clause releasing the defendant from
A Further Analysis Of Report Of Wild Children Essay
Another important factor that plays a role in the development of the monster and
feral children is the presence of abuse and trauma. Abuse and trauma play a role in
the development of the creature and feral children because it affect their cognition,
behavior, their idea of self worth, and their ability to connect with others. Wayne
Dennis s essay, A Further Analysis of Reports of Wild Children , asserts that because
of being in conditions of constant stress and threat [from abuse and trauma], children
may have trouble utilizing their cognitive skills (155). Furthermore, Dennis asserts
that because of the conditions that the children experienced they exhibited behaviors
that can be only be conveyed as erratic and volatile (153). In addition,... Show more

These are also true for the monster. The presence of abuse and trauma during the
development of the monster affected his cognition, behavior, his idea of self worth,
and his ability to connect with others. The monster having experienced abuse and
trauma from his interaction with humans before, he become traumatized with
violence. This is highlighted when he saw Felix was about to strike him for the
second time he was overcome by pain and anguish, [he] quitted the cottage (Shelley
95) to escape. Furthermore, his behavior also becomes erratic and volatile. This is
shown when he wished to tear up the trees, spread havoc and destruction, and then
sit down and enjoy the ruin (Shelley 95) after his interaction with the De Laceys. In
addition, it is evident that his perception of himself is as a wretch , even saying All
men hate the wretched; how then must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all
living things! (Shelley 67 68). Finally, because of his experience with the barbarity
of man , he is very cautious when approaching other people. This was displayed
when he longed to join [the De Laceys], but dared

Adult Day Care Essay
Because life expectancy has increased while people are having less children, there
are many more individuals who are over the age of 80 and this number is predicted
to increase each year (Adams, 2012). This is going to result in both families and
governments struggling to manage the needs of this growing number of elderly
people. Unfortunately care offered at nursing homes and institutions is very
expensive, which means that finding alternate ways to care for elderly loved ones
is crucial. Adult daycare centers give relief to both family members and caregivers
by offering senior citizens who may need assistance care and supervision during the
day (Sato, 2004). This allows caregivers to work, relax, run errands etc. without
worrying about their elderly charge. One of the services offered at adult daycare
centers is meal service which provides elderly adults with daily the nutrition they

Adult daycare services provide assistance with supervised care during the day for
elderly adults who should not be left alone ( Adult Day Care, 2015). Most of these
centers are only open during the week and for a limited numbers of hours per day (
Adult Day Care, 2015). Other than providing supervision, adult daycares serve meals,
allow individuals to socialize, help with personal tasks such as toileting, and some
offer nursing care and other health related services such as physical therapy (Sato,
2004). The most important benefit of adult daycare centers is that they allow
elderly people greater opportunity to age in place and delay being placed in an
institution or other long term care facility (Sato, 2004). They also give caregivers a
much needed break from the responsibilities of taking care of an elderly loved one
and give elderly people the socialization that they

Ia Dang Civil War
The first major battle of the Vietnam War was the battle of Ia Drang. This conflict
took many casualties on both sides in just two days. There have been many books
and articles that have been written about the battle. There was even a major
Hollywood movie titled We Were Soldiers that dramatized the battle. Most of the
public thinks of the conflict as a very bloody battle fought by the 1 7, 1st Cavalry
Division, led by Lieutenant Colonial Harald G. Moore (Warren, 2015). While this is
accurate, what is not known about the battle is the 1st Cavalry Division, utilized a
technique called air mobile, now known as air assault, to employ multiple forces
throughout the battlefield for the first time in combat. Air mobile was not just used to

The primary howitzer during this era was the M101, 105mm howitzer. The M101
had a range of 11.5KM without rocket assist and 15.1KM with rocket assist
projectile. The max rate of fire for the piece was 10 rounds per minute with 3
rounds per minute sustained (Olive Drab, 2012). Although there was not much to the
construction of the M101, it played a huge part in the Vietnam War. The howitzer
was capable of firing rounds quickly and accurately to not only kill and suppress the
enemy, but it also helped the infantry move closer to their objective. Some of the
rounds that the M101 shot consisted of HE, smoke, and chemical. Each of these
ammunitions played a precise times (Olive Drab, 2012). During the battle of Ia

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Vaccination
There are several religious exemptions that followers can seem to justify but some
cases seem to be outrageous and a threat to society. One of these exemptions being,
religious vaccine exemption which seems to be a controversial topic even in today s
society. Although, there is not an abundance of religious followers who are against
vaccinationa few do seem to rise publicly once in a while which leads to a media
frenzy. Religions such as, Christian Scientists and the Dutch Reformed Church are
some of the religions in the past having followers known of creating controversy in
this topic. In which then, stirs the public on establishing an opinion on who to side
with and what is right and wrong. For example, there are cases where children
entering schools are not vaccinated due to their parent s religious beliefs. Should this
extreme violation towards safety be allowed? No, I believe that most cases of
religious vaccineexemptions are morally unjustifiable and wrong.
Any act that unnecessarily endangers other human beings and society is morally
unjustifiable and wrong. I believe that when there s an option where something can
be easily preventable and is known to be avoidable then it should be accomplished
with such method. When someone decides to purposely chose an alternative option
in which danger and negative consequences may become pertinent and thus, the
outcome it is wrong. There s no reason a sane human being should decide to
purposely make a decision which can
Significance Of Boston Tea Party
Boston Tea Party was a major event in American history because this act of
American colonial disobedience served as a protest against taxation. British
Parliament adjusted import duties with the passage of the Tea Act on May 10,
1773. The Tea Act granted the British East India Company Tea a monopoly on tea
sales in the American colonies. Meetings were held and decisions were made.
Taxes has been raised so much and so many people did not like that. People did not
like the idea of wasting money and paying taxes for tea. As of why the parliament
didn t get much respect. Tea crates were being sent in and out. While this was
happening all the colonists that were paying taxes, were also paying for most
shipments and for the tea to be going to the parliament. For them to be enjoying the
tea while the colonists were paying for it and the expenses were so high and the tea
in stores were so high as well because it was so popular. The Parliament became
selfish because once they sold the tea in stores it went to them as well and so no one
bought it. Colonists had been complaining about the taxes and mini acts of fighting
had happened and people were not happy. People had been making plans of how they
were gonna get the Parliament to notice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from China that we had put high taxes on. Also something else you might be asking
why the dressed up as Mohawk Indians is because they needed to protect their
identity. The leaders of the Patriots in Boston was Samuel Adams, John Hancock
and Paul Revere. Last fact was who opposed the Boston patriots at the Boston Tea
Party, it was the loyalists led by Governor Thomas
The Pros And Cons Of Manufacturing A Nuclear Weapon
Manufacturing a nuclear weapon is a very complex and challenging process. It
requires the production of nuclear materials plutonium, uranium 233 or enriched
uranium 235. These nuclear materials are crucial because they can sustain nuclear
chain reactions which then release a massive amount of energy in small period of
time, causing a nuclear explosion. Getting the nuclear material isn t the hard part, but
manufacturing the highly enriched uranium235 from the more common uranium 238,
is what makes the manufacturing of the nuclear weapons next to impossible;
especially for terrorist organizations.
Terrorist organizations are more likely develop one of the two simpler types of bomb

Arguments supporting the likelihood state that though it is not easy to make a
nuclear bomb, it is not as difficult as one might believe, as long as essential
ingredients are in hand. Also, since gun type bombs are comparatively easier to make
and less likely to require testing, they possess a real threat. Arguments questioning the
likelihood include the modern safety precautions securing the nukes, making it
impossible for terrorist organizations to steal and bypass. Also, most of the nuclear
weapons require continuous maintenance, and thus if any nuclear weapon is stolen, it
will soon be noted. Moreover, getting the fissile material is expensive and it is highly
risky to smuggle them along the international borders. Lastly, the organizations need
blueprints or additional information to successfully assemble a nuke, just the
information is not enough; since the uranium is difficult to

  • 2. Minimum Limited Drinking Age Law Minimum limited drinking age law in America was passed more than 30 years ago. Therefore, it needed to be altered to catch up with today s world. Teenagers today are no longer the kind of teenager back in the 1980s. Now, they have access to information on the Internet, they were taught how alcoholic drinks affect to the body, they were supervised by their parents closely. Moreover, teenagers even have legal access to voting, driving, owning a car,...and they can be jailed up if they break the law, sentenced in prison if the crime was serious enough. Therefore, teenager should be able to control of their life and have access to alcoholas a right they supposed to have long time ago. Secondly, by legalize drinking age to eighteen; the government can easily control alcohol abuse. A study was conducted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to see whether underage people can buy beer and liquor through online websites. They made 8 people, aged from 18 20, to lie about their age when ordering via alcoholic drinks selling website. 100 orders were made and then, they counted the number of successful orders. A shocking result was revealed: 45 of the orders were successfully made and received. Only 28 were rejected because the person making the order was found to be underage. The remaining orders did not go through because of technical glitches or because no one was home when delivery attempts were made. The result of this experiment has shown the reality of how easy it
  • 3. The Longest Memory Summary Tanner Stark History 100 Mary Borg 30 November 2017 The Longest Memory Book Understanding When people think of slavery today they think of all blacks being treated unfairly and beaten all the time. Slavery is a serious and very rough topic due to the horror stories of beatings and how poorly some of the slaves were treated. That was not the case for all slaves, in fact some slaves had it easier than others depending on the overseers and the behavior of the slaves. Some were treated well and had love interests with their owners and some would look more to their religion of Christianity for how they should treat their slaves, which was usually less harsh. There are many factors that come into play when talking about the life of a slave in the south before the Civil War. In this paper I will talk a lot about different ways and reasons why slaves were treated the way they were, how the newspaper talks about the slave life and what the true meaning of The Longest Memory is. Slave owners viewed slaves in several different ways, which can be put into three categories. First is the discipline category. The discipline category consists of a heavy hand which is used for slaves who disobey. Discipline with a heavy hand is very brutal. They use discipline to show the slaves that they need to behave because they will whip you as much as they need to in order to keep the slaves in line and stop trying to run away. In the book The Longest Memory by Fred D Aguiar, one of the

The Lasting Effects of the Columbian Exchange During the Age of Discovery It should no longer come as any great surprise that Columbus was not the first to discover the Americas Carthaginians, Vikings, and even St. Brendan may have set foot on the Western Hemisphere long before Columbus crossed the Atlantic. But none of these incidental contacts made the impact that Columbus did. Columbus and company were bound to bring more than the benefits of Christianity and double entry bookkeeping to America. His voyages started the Columbian Exchange, a hemispherical swap of peoples, plants, animals and diseases that transformed not only the world he had discovered but also the one he had left. New food crops have enabled people to live in places where they previously had only slim means of feeding themselves. Each new cargo brought new changes to the European diet, helping to improve eating and strengthening national identities with cultural foods. Some of the exotic new crops had humble beginnings; before the tomato made its way into European diets, it was a weed in the Aztec maize fields. The potatoes which hung on to Spanish ships wasn t welcomed at first either; Europeans found it unappetizing. But packing more calories per acre than any European grain, the potato eventually became the dominant food of northern Europe s working class. A few of the other plants that took root in the European palate was the cacao bean for chocolate, lima beans, corn, peanuts, pumpkins, squash, cashews, and pineapples. Sunflowers, petunias, marigolds and poinsettias also made their way to Europe. Several other plants of importance include quinine, tobacco, and sugar cane. Quinine is a malaria fighting plant found in the Peruvian Andes. Sugar cane is especially important because of its impact on slavery. While originally a European plant, it thrived in tropical American forests. Scholars estimate that each ton of sugar cost the life on one worker in the New World. As Indians perished, African slaves

This research will contribute and benefit business organizations by making awareness and by identifying problems to give some possible solutions. 1.2 Statement of the problem Agriculture has always been the backbone of Ethiopia s economy. Yet, lifting millions of Ethiopians out of poverty requires transformation from centuries old subsistence agriculture to dynamic, technology driven market oriented production. This can only happen if the market itself functions in such a way as to serve the needs of all concerned stakeholder of the market. Ethiopian coffee marketing system is also on age old tradition. To date, coffee markets have been characterized by high cost and high risks of transacting, forcing much of Ethiopia into global isolation. Coffee trading is done on the basis of auction system which backed by poor technology and clearing and payment system which drives up the processing and marketing cost and these leads to high consumer price this forcing coffee exporter to be powerless into global market. In addition to his small scale farmers come to the market with little information and are at the mercy of coffee supplier or collector in the nearest and only market they know, unable to negotiate better prices or reduces their market risks. Doing business in a standard and acceptable way is one of the competitive advantages in this global market, especially for
  • 6. The Characteristics Of Alexander Hamilton As A American Hero America has long been considered a great, powerful country. From its beginning, the United States had the potential to be something revolutionary. The idea of a democracy was, in the 1700 s, strange. While many men are regarded as key elements in the birth of America, one man stands out, despite his sometimes being overshadowed by fellow Founding Fathers. Alexander Hamiltonwas an immigrant, soldier, and the first Secretary of the United StatesTreasury, among his other contributions to America. He had dreams for his adopted country and was highly determined to see them to fruition and create a new, remarkable nation. Alexander Hamilton embodies the characteristics of an epic hero because he was a great warrior, he was capable of great deeds of strength and courage, and he is a national hero. Alexander Hamilton is known as a great statesman, but he also exhibited the epic hero trait of a great warrior. He volunteered to fight in the Revolutionary War, then was promoted to lieutenant colonel and aide de camp under George Washington. During his time as a secretary and aide de camp for Washington, he longed deeply for military glory. Hamilton s traits as a great warrior are demonstrated in abundance throughout the Revolutionary War: He commanded his guns in the battles of Long Island, helped fortify Harlem Heights, and employed two artillery pieces effectively at White Plains. He led his company throughout the New Jersey campaign and saw action at Trenton and Princeton.
  • 7. Greek Government Essay Forms of Government in the Greek City States The Greek city states had different forms of government systems as we have seen in Sparta and Athens where one had an oligarchy government and the other a democratic one respectively. Monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy and democracy are the forms of government which were found in the city states of Greece. Democracy is defined as the rule of the people, as stated by Brand (n.d). It was first developed in Athens by Cleisthenes and it was based on the principle that all citizens( native born Athenian men) of the city state of Athens had a right to attend and speak at the assembly excluding women , slaves and metics. The only real difference between a Greek oligarchy government and a Greek democracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cartwright (2013) states that in the Greek world monarchies were rare and were often only distinguishable from a tyranny when the hereditary ruler was more benevolent and ruled in the genuine interest of his people. The common examples of monarchies were the ones in Macedonia and Epeiros where the ruler shared power with an assembly. Sparta also was ruled by two kings although it had a citizen assembly. Another form of government is tyranny. Tyranny is a rule by one powerful dictator who has seized power without legal right. However , Greek tyrants were not necessarily evil rulers but they simply looked after their own interests. This type of government existed in many states, particularly in the 6th century BC. Syracuse in Sicily had a run of famous tyrants such as Dionysios from 405 BCE and his son Dionysios II, who took over in 367 BCE ( Cartwright, 2013). During 700 BC, aristocracies ruled the earliest poleis which were later replaced by oligarchies. An aristocratic government places power in the hands of a small, privileged ruling class. This is contrasted to a monarchy as it is a rule by an individual while in an aristocratic government a group of noble people rule the people. In this government the common citizens had no say in political issues of the

Fashion trends are changing rapidly and Gap is falling behind Production costs continue to rise, even overseas The market for prime retail is competitive, and location of stores directly impacts sales. Rising prices of cotton due to weather leads to increases costs and retail prices Designer Patrick Robinson leaves the company (loss of key staff) According to the article, Gap is facing a difficult situation as their head designer, Patrick Robinson, leaves the company. Retail analysts believe that the company needs to be downsized by closing unproductive stores, they need to make management changes, and they need improved products that are consistent with the merchandising strategies. The basic problem is that Gap s image has declined and people are starting to associate them as tired, commoditized, driven by price. Gap needs to be repositioned, and they need someone who understands the customer, that will turn the brand around. Gap s strategy is to close all stores that are underperforming in order to cut costs. They will also spend more money on advertising and marketing to a younger market and to minorities such as Hispanics, Asians, and African Americans. By doing so, they hope to acquire greater market share. They will also use new technology that will locate products online and in stores. In my opinion, I think that Gap s image has definitely started to decline. Today, most customers are just looking

The vulnerability in question is a weakness in the MD5 algorithm that would allow for collisions in output. As a result, attackers can generate cryptographic tokens or other data that illegitimately appear to be authentic. Now the secondary affect is that the MD5 hashes may allow for certificate spoofing on a Cisco ASA system. For the secondary affect, Cisco announced that the hashing algorithm used in the digital certificates on the Cisco ASA cannot be changed; however, the ASA is unlikely to be affected by the attacks described in this research due to the way certificates are generated on the device. The shrill screaming that rose before the beast was like a pain. The beast stumbled into the horseshoe (152). The boys, led by Jack, go on to kill the beast like creature, who turns out to be Simon. The boys risk a false positive reaction and overreact to their uncertainty. While some may argue that this example does not show how overreacting to fear saved the boy, that is irrelevant to the fact of whether or not the boys overreact, which they did. Humans continue to panic when encountering fear, and thus plays a major part in everyday

Senior management has decided to utilize the new process on the 7 series platform. In order to accomplish this goal, BMW is preparing to take advantage of the latest computer technology in car development. At the forefront of the new plan is a debate over the use of computer aided styling (CAS). BMW s strategy for value creation lies in its meticulous engineering, including design and styling. BMW designers pride themselves in delivering the unique styling that BMW is known for. They strive for designs that generate emotions В– Works of art . This is evident in the fact that many of the designers came from art or industrial design schools. The current design process involves two full size clay models В– which are extremely costly and time consuming. However, the use of clay models provides a visual representation of the final product that many felt irreplaceable. By being able to physically see and touch a model of the final product the model can be handcrafted to make the slightest details apparent. Once the models are complete they are captured digitally by a laser scanner and brought into a Computer Aided Design (CAD) System. The current process is working well to deliver the unique styling and quality that defines BMW, however, it is very time consuming and a major roadblock to reducing the product development time. Senior management utilized the functional managers from the five key process areas that accounted for about 90% of the critical processes involved in product development. These managers identified three main changes to the current system that needed to take place in order to meet the development time reduction goals: Increased parallelization of design tasks, elimination of some design iterations, and quicker completion of the

From 1982 1992 there were eight incidences of terrorism. From 2002 2012 there have been seventeen (Geigner). The growth at which these events are spreading is exponential. Modern terrorismdid not begin until approximately the 1950s when it changed from guerrilla tactics used by a nation to the to the type common today, non state terrorism. These assailants fight for no flag, have no rules, and will do whatever they feel like at any given moment (Zalman). The violencethese radicals produce is cataclysmic. However, instead of being distressed by this violence, citizens latch onto the offenders. They give the assailant the fame and popularity that he or she desires. For example, within hours of Boston Bombings, the faces of the two assassins were broadcasted everywhere in the media, and rightly so. The police needed the help of the public to find and capture these criminals. But constant media coverage three weeks after the event was unnecessary. Many say that sensationalist media, not gun control is the reason for attacks of violence. Those who terrorize the nation are held up almost as heroes. Their names are plastered on every news station around the world. Assailants will always find ways to kill even with the extreme control of guns. • 33. The Theory Of Symbolic Interactionism Introduction The last theoretical perspective I have applied to my movie selection, Dead Man Walking, is the symbolic interaction theory. The theory was primarily established by American philosopher George Herbert Mead in the 1920 s and the term was later coined by American sociologist Herbert Blumer in the 1960 s (McClelland, 2000). Symbolic interactionism examines society on a small scale and focuses on interactions between individuals and how these relations impact social order (Brown, 2013). To comprehend human behavior, we must understand what the idea or situation means to the participant (Dubose, 2015). The same situation can have different meanings to different people and therefore affect people in different ways (Dubose, 2015). Throughout this analysis, I will apply the theory of symbolic interactionism to explain Poncelot s behaviors and interactions with other people in his life. Background Information Poncelot was an inmate on Death Row in a Louisiana Prison in the 1990 s. He was incarcerated for six years while awaiting his execution by lethal injection. He was convicted of killing two teenagers as well as brutally raping the female victim. At the beginning of the movie, Poncelot denied the allegations against him and blamed both crimes on his partner. Throughout the movie, he portrayed himself as an arrogant, racist, sexist, and condescending man. He was shunned by nearly all of the people he came in contact with and enjoyed the negative reaction his behavior

My experience in seventh grade in not making the volleyball team was, at the time, the hardest thing that I had gone through. In the weeks that followed tryouts, it was that failure that led me to discover what I am good at and, in turn, being successful from it. Not making the team helped me become a better soccer player and taught me that success in one thing can come from failure of another. It was the beginning of the seventh grade when I tried out for the volleyball team. I had been practicing all summer long to get better and I felt like I would be good enough to make the team. I tried so hard to make it over the net each time, but couldn t make it over consistently. This was so frustrating for me because I knew this would hurt my chance of making the team. At the end of the day, the coaches gave me a letter saying that I made the first cut and they want to see me play again. When the next day of tryouts came, I felt like I had a good chance of making the team. That day after tryouts, I received a second letter but this one said that I didn t make the team, to keep working hard for tryouts next year. The stories The First False Face , The Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn , and The Coyote all have many similarities, but a couple things are different. The moon rises with it s reflection shown in the water. Stones tied the neck of a coyote. The coyote leaps into the water. Nothing comes up not even a few bubbles to show there is life from the coyote. No movement is shown except for the little blue fox staring at the water. The fox walks away while the coyote stays in the cold dark water. In the stories The First False Face , The Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn , and The Coyote , they all have wild animals. The First False Face , The Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn , and The Coyote all have Native Americans tribes in their stories. All of these stories mentioned above have many similarities so I decided to list a few. In The First False Face it talks about the Seneca tribe. In The Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn in talks about the myth of the Cheyenne tribe, and in The Coyote it talks about the Pueblo tribe. The second similarity is that in all the stories it they have something to do with magic. The story The First False Face it has characters that can move mountains and in reality that could never be done. In the story The Origin of The Buffalo and the Corn it has an old lady making food out of nothing sand filling up bowls.

Introduction to Intervention Strokes are known as the leading cause of acquired disability in adults where between 20 30% are left unable to walk, and leaving those who are able to walk, with a moderate to severe walking disability (Maguire et al., 2012). This disability results in a huge socioeconomic impact on the patients and their families lives. In order to improve their quality of life, an improvement in balance is the important first step in which is crucial to enable more independent movement, for example walking. A stroke can be brought on by many different factors like age, gender and family history all of which one cannot control. Others are lifestyle factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, obesity or being over weight, poor diet, lack of exercise and drinking too much alcohol (stroke foundation Australia). Currently there is no universally accepted treatment (Ward, 2005). There is evidence to suggest that improved motor recovery occurs when the brain uses the original neural system to control the movement as this is shown to represent true recovery. Whereas, if new networks were to form in the unaffected hemisphere of the brain, motor recovery will be reduced. As a result of using these new networks, fine motor control is lost and employment of compensatory movement strategies are associated with a poorer functional outcome (Nudo, 2007). The recovery of motor skills following a stroke, like walking, relies on the brain s ability
