to the aggressively growing Lowe s has led its stock price to fall. Forecasting Looking forward,
Lowe s plans include expansion, with more than 100 store openings in line until the year 2004.
Although it was not explicitly stated that it will continue to expand until 2006, the analysts
assumed the contrary, that is a continuous expansion in order to strategize and reach Home Depot s
level in terms of scale. The gross margin, turnover ratios, and etc. which were used in the forecast

strategy in the short term. Therefore, there will be no significant variance in these

Why Are Teens Like Dystopian Stories
Wonder why teens like dystopian stories, maybe its because of how much they relate to the people
in them. Teens relate to the people in dystopian societies because of the amount of freedom that
they feel they have and how they feel about making their own decisions.
Dystopian fiction is very popular with modern teens because of the craziness of the societies
created. They relate to this text because they feel like they are always being told to do just like
the charaters in these societies. These texts are all about a alternant reality that is pretty messed
up. Today s teens relate to people in dystopian societies. The main people in dystopian stories are

This makes them suceptable to reading about characters who get to excape their lives of never
getting to choose for themselves, like when jonas was forced to become the reciever of memory.
You will be trained to be the receiver of memory (64) This meant that jonas could not pick his

want to do such as work and school. Teens like to connect with what happends to them and being
forced to do something they dont want to do is one way of connecting. Both of these books
relate to teens through their oppressed main characters. Many teens feel imprisioned in their
lives and can relate to being stopped from doing what they want to do and what they feel is best

African Americans In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man
In Invisible Man, IM, even though he is African American, has a different cultural understanding of
employment with being black in America. The cultural difference installs an idea of impressing and
respecting the superiority. This insight causes him to not fully comprehend his new life and will
not be beneficial for the future. Invisible Manhad to have a meeting with Mr. Bledsoe to speak
about the events that happened with Mr. Norton. In this meeting, he is expelled and Mr. Bledsoe
offers him an opportunity to travel to New York with letters for a request for work: These letters
will be sealed; don t open them if you want help. White folk are strict about such things (149).

Bledsoe depended on the support of white men in the community. Ellison using the statement
adds to the idea that in order for any achievements such as a job to be completed, the whites have
to be respected. With living life in New York, Invisible Man has been working hard to give the
letters to his white employers. Most of the letters have been refused so he wishes for Mr. Norton
to help him: Finally I tried to reach the important men by telephone, only to receive polite
refusals by their secretaries...I thought of Mr. Norton. If only the last letter had been addressed
to him (169). Ellison uses Mr. Norton as a symbol for the blindness of African Americans with
the topic of oppression from the white community. Invisible Man, at his lows, wishes upon a
white man to save the day in order to achieve a job. His idea of employment means that the white
man has to grant the ability to work. While meeting with the person of the last letter, Mr.
Emerson, Invisible Man was able to finally read the material that Dr. Bledsoe wrote: What did I
do? I always tried to do the right thing ... I only wanted to return and help (191 192). Ellison
represents Invisible Man s blindness through repetition of questions and past tense

Deconstructing the Constructivism
Deconstructing the constructivism
The paradox of the norm
Deconstructing the subject is first to analyses historically, the formation of different layers that
have build the concept of the subject. When deconstruct the subject, it is important to analyze all
the hidden assumption that are implied with the philosophical, ethical, theatrical and the political
use of the concept of the subject.
Deconstructivist came to the public notice with 1982, the Parc de la Villette in Paris by Bernard
Tschumi s winning gantry. Deconstructivism attempts to move away from the supposing
constricted rules of modernist, such as form follows function, purity of form and truth to the
materials. In phycology with the use of free association techniques, we start to know the difference
personalities of human. We could say in general, the idea is to open the box and start to find out
the center within. The idea is to dismantle each of the elements and reform it into a different
formation of language shown in figure 1.
The concept of deconstruction, deconstructivism is a style, all styles have their previous
menophistation. In the early modernism is the heroic period where the white architecture as it is
known from 1917 to the 1950. The white architecture in intellectual basis was formed, like several
people who where in this time were Le Corbusier, Mies Ven de Rhoe, and etc. The intellectual
center was the thing was in this German design school called The Bauhaus, in its key and

Greek Mythology Affecting Modern Day Literature
Greek mythology is a body of myths put together by the ancient greeks. These myths have been
told for many years and are still told today. Greek mythology affects lots of modern day
literature, media, and even languages. Many movies we watch now and days come from greek
mythology. For instance the blockbuster Troy which was based mainly off of the book The
Iliad by Homer. In the movie the prince of Troy, whose name is Paris, convince the queen of
Sparta to leave with him back to Troy and when the King of Sparta finds out that his queen had
left with him he asks his brother, Agamemnon, to get his wife back from Troy; so he agrees and
contracts achilles who is invincible to help him according to IMBD. For the most part everything is
the same in the book by Homer. This shows that media... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actually the Greeks had stories about these amazing heros or adventures that were written down
but they were called epic poems. For example the book Percy Jackson and the Oolympians: the
Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is based off of multiple different myths and gods says Enotes.
This book is very similar to the epic poems that were written by Greeks that talk about a hero
who was no more anyone else but was actually very special and the hero had to go on a
dangerous adventure against all odds. Also the story A Tree Telling of Orpheus by Denise
Levertov which is originally a myth about the Ggod Oorpheus who could charm anything animate
or inanimate according to Pearson Literature. Back then myths like this were told for
entertainment besides the people who actually believed in them but till this day these myths are
being told in books, articles, poems all for the purpose to entertain peoples minds with unrealistic
stories. The epic poems and myths are still read today and passed on for the captivation of

Theme Of In My Father s House By Ernest Gaines
Introduction
Throughout his public writing, Ernest Gaines has been consistently asked about the themes of his
novels and short stories. Because of his desire to express Black manhood, interviewers and critics
have recognized Gaines as a current fiction voice for
African American men. In a 1990 interview with Marcia Gaudet, Gaines addressed this trend,
saying, .I think I know more about the black male because I am male myself. I know something
about his dreams. I listened to them when I was a kid growing up, I.ve drunk with him, I.ve been
in the army and athletics I know what men dream about. All men dream about certain things. All
men have hopes.. (43). Gaines s decision to address the struggle of Black males begins in his own
experience as a man and expands to include the dreams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Gaines is quick to admit that the novel had been ..kicking my ass for ten years.. (Tooker

As a child on the plantation and ancestor of slaves, Gaines experienced firsthand the struggles of
fathers and sons because of slavery. This conflict, seen in In My Father s
House, was a subject Gaines knew he had to approach. Eventually, Gaines decided to model his
book after a Greek tragedy. Like the characters of Greek tragedies, Phillip
Martin is a great man who falls and must get himself back up. Although Gaines devoted much time
to the novel, and approached a subject that has disturbed him, he still does not like to talk about or
read from the novel. In an interview with Mary Doyle, Gaines says,
..That book is a hard one for me to talk about. I don t ever read from it when I go to colleges and
universities. It is a book that I had to write because I was haunted by the idea. It cost me more
time and pain than any book I ve written. (162). Gaines s
audience s reaction to the novel is similar to the pain Gaines experienced while creating the
characters. The story reminds his audience that a man is more than a father. He is

devastation. Many district head quarters got totally cut off from the State head quarter and
neighboring districts due to submerged telephone exchanges or damaged cables and disrupted roads

The Charge Of The Light Brigade Literary Devices
The Battle of Balaclava of the Crimean War took place on October 25, 1854 (Greenspan). Not even
two months later, Lord Alfred Tennyson published his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade
(History.com). Although the Poetry for Students author believes that the soldiers loyalty was the
most notable feature, the more important aspect was the soldiers bravery (Poetryfor Students). In
The Charge of the Light Brigade, Tennyson accentuates the bravery that the soldiers exhibited in
their battle through the use of literary devices such as repetition, sensory details, and epistrophe.
Poets often utilize different techniques in order to improve their writing or to make an argument. In
this case, Tennyson used repetition to emphasize the point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the end of every paragraph, rode the six hundred, or something similar to it, was repeated. If
the reader ignores every other phrase and only reads the last line of each stanza, he is still able
to get a sense of how the battle progresses. When the Light Brigade begins to lose the battle, the
phrase shifts to not the six hundred, and then to left of six hundred (Tennyson). It is easy to see
from these phrases that the circumstances have changed for the soldiers. It seems like the soldiers
have no hope and will be forgotten. The last line of the poem, however, changes everything. Noble
six hundred! ; the soldiers will not be forgotten or ridiculed, rather they will be remembered and
praised for their bravery, no matter the outcome of the battle. Without this phrase being placed at
the end of every paragraph, the reader wouldn t understand that the soldiers extensive bravery was
enough for them to be remembered, even though they were unsuccessful in battle.
The Charge of the Light Brigade is full of emotion and excitement. Neither of those sensations
would have been possible without the use of literary devices. Tennyson used repetition, sensory
details, and epistrophe in order to add to the emotional effect, but more importantly to aid him in
proving the soldiers bravery. Without these literary devices, the poem

Greed And The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The Effects of Greed and The American Dream in The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby focuses on the excitement and adventure of the roaring
twenties, a time filled with great economic success and parties said to last the whole decade. New
to Long Island and New York, aspiring bond man Nick Carraway becomes infatuated with the
lifestyle of his rich peers living the American dream . He gains interest in his mysterious neighbor
Jay Gatsby who lives in an incredible mansion and has a vast amount of wealth. Gatsby uses his
money to try and steal his love, Daisy Buchanan from her unfaithful husband, Tom. Characters in
The Great Gatsby are unhappy and unfulfilled with their lives due to greed manipulating their view
of The American Dream. This skewed perception also effects their unreasonable life expectations
and their narcissistic thoughts create a larger potential for failure such as Gatsby s extravagant plan
to steal Daisy Buchanan.
Jay Gatsby is a self made man, he turned himself from a farm boy to one of the richest men in
America at the time and bought himself a beautiful mansion on West Egg, Long Island with the
other new millionaires. In contrast to the newly rich, there is those who have inherited their
wealth from family before them such as Tom and Daisy Buchanan. These people were lucky to be
born into their lives and reside on East Egg along with other family s with old money . Readers

Risk Management At The Colorado I 70 Monorail Project, A...
Abstract This report applies proactive risk management to the construction of the Colorado I 70
Monorail project, a 155 mile transportation system from Denver, CO to Vail, CO. Risk events and
impacts for the $7.5 billion project are identified based on the five year construction schedule.
Referencing Proactive Risk Management by P. G. Smith and G. M. Merritt, the standard risk
model and the five step risk management process are described and utilized. This report
identifies and analyzes risks associated with the use of monorail technology, construction
scheduling, and unexpected costs. Through the use and demonstration of Step 1 and Step 2 of
the five step process, risk likelihood and expected loss for each risk are developed. The results of
Step 1 and Step 2 will be utilized in a subsequent report detailing risk prioritization, action plans,
and monitoring risks. Project Overview
Objective
Risk management is an important task in ensuring the successful construction of the Colorado I 70
Monorail System. The intermediate speed monorail will run from the Front Range of Colorado to
the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The fixed guideway rail system will connect existing public
transportation systems in the Denver metropolitan area to multiple mountain communities. The
route will parallel the existing interstate I 70 and will begin in Denver, CO and will end in Vail,

Lack Of Freedom In America Essay
War, Slavery, Sexism, and Lack of freedom, these were the issues America has faced that put our
country through an uproar. Present day America has been through several trials and tribulations in
the past to get to the peaceful state it is today. Throughout the course of time America has been hit
with unfortunate periods of feuds with countries near and far, determining how little freedom you
have based on your genderor race, and in most cases having the government dictate what happens
in your life. Despite our hardships, America took baby steps to improve its country. These little
and small changes brought us on the journey to turn America into the powerful nation it is now.
American history gave us hope for the future. America began as thirteen small colonies under
the rule of Great Britain. As time progressed we as colonies decided that being under Great
Britain s rule was toxic and we needed to be our own country. Our decision to declare our
freedom turned American from partially peaceful colonies to a post apocalyptic wasteland. Our
fight towards Great Britain brought disease, death, and in some cases defeat. This fight was cost
families everything. America also has a deep history with the topic of slavery. African citizens
would be captured and brought against the will to America to be a Southern s slave. Slaves were
sometimes separated from their families, beaten, and killed. Alongside with people being
discriminated towards by their race, some were discriminated by

American Diet Needs To Change Essay
America, a nice place to just stop at a McDonalds, a Burger King or any other fast food place and
order a nice juicy burger, but did you even know what was just in that burger? Some think that
America eats plenty of good choices of foods while others think that we are out of control when it
comes to food. It s clear that overall the American diet is out of control and needs to change. The
reason why it needs to change is because processed foods are addictive and can cause people to
overeat, because the nutritionstandards are not being met, and because the high obesity rate is
partially blamed by the fast foodindustry.
One reason that the American diet needs to change is that most of the processed foods that are

The USDA recommends 8.5 grams of added fat for every 1,000 calories. Americans eat more than

The last reason that the American diet needs to change is that America has the highest obesity
rate in the world. For example Dan Mangan of CNBC argues 67% of people believe they need to
only lose a median of 27 pounds of body weight . Americans need to eat a little less than they are
right now. When most people see a food that they are craving they often take one helping but
most take 2, 3, or even sometimes 4 helpings of that food. While some may argue that its too
difficult to change when the food is processed it is more true that the food industries produce
more fresh fruit than processed fruit. Some evidence from a USA TODAY writer Nanci Hellmich
argues that fast food industries produce mostly fresh fruit and are also making organic milk come
with meals . Yes some may say that they produce organic milk and fresh food but most of the fruit

Battle Of The American Revolution
The Battle of Yorktown was one of the most significant battles of the American Revolution. Not
only was it a major battle that helped end the war but also showed the power of the Continental
Army s field artillery. The battle was a major turning point in establishing the freedom of the
United States of America and was the last major battle of the war. The Continental and French
forces moved to Yorktown on 28 September 1781, however the first shot was not fired until 9
October of 1781. It was roughly ten days of continuous artilleryfire that helped demoralize the
British forces, leading to their surrender on 19 October 1781.
The lead up to the Battle of Yorktown started when Lieutenant General Lord William Cornwallis
led his army to Yorktown to try and establish a deep sea port for British use. His two year campaign
through the south fighting against the likes of General Nathanael Greene and General George
Washington took its toll on his forces. He marched his army of 7,000 troops to the harbor town of
Yorktown located next to the York River in Virginia. His original mission was to receive
reinforcements and supplies, however upon his arrival, General Sir Henry Clinton, the commander
in chief for the British forces, ordered General Cornwallis to secure the harbor and prepare for
extraction by the Royal Navy. General George Washington of the American Forces, who was
encamped at Dobbs Ferry, heard about Cornwallis heading to Yorktown while he was assaulting the
town

The witches in Macbeth have a large dramatic impact and play a key role in Macbeth, so they are
also important. This play was written roughly 400 years ago and so the majority of the population
then would have been very superstitious. This means that there would have been a much larger
impact on the audience. The witches are also important, as with out them Macbeth would not have

after the first meeting. He begins to talk in soliloquy or aside this shows he does not want others
to hear what he is thinking and so with out realising has began to scheme [Aside] If chance may
have me king, why chance may crown me with out my stir . We also can see that the witches are
important to the actual character Macbeth, he echoes a riddle of theirs as his first line in the
play fair is foul and foul is fair to So foul and fair a day I have not seen . Before we even see
Macbeth he is being described as a hero by the captain For brave Macbeth well he deserved that
name . He is the rewarded with a traitor s title by Duncan and then he meets the witches, after the
meeting with them we see that he is actually changing (for the worse). We can also see this
through the break down of Banquo and Macbeth s friendship. Comparing Banquo and Macbeth is
also useful; we can see that the impact of the witches on Macbeth differs to Banquo. Banquo has a
reluctance to accept what the witches said What, can the devil speak true? compared to Macbeth

The Sin of Pride Exposed in King Lear, and The Duchess of Malfi
In this brief monograph, we shall be hunting down and examining various creatures from the
bestiary of Medieval/Renaissance thought. Among these are the fierce lion of imperious,
egotistical power, a pair of fantastic peacocks, one of vanity, one of preening social status, and the
docile lamb of humility. The lion and the peacocks are of the species known as pride, while the
lamb is of an entirely different, in fact antithetical race, that of humility and forgiveness. The
textual regions we shall be exploring include the diverse expanses, from palace to heath, of William
Shakespeare, the dark, sinister Italy of John Webster, and the perfumed lady s chambers of Ben ...

Only pride bows to flattery, and Kent is in essence telling Lear that his pride is getting the better of
him.
Another aspect of pride which appears in King Lear, as well as Webster s The Duchessof Malfi, is
that of the preoccupation with reputation and social status. In the latter play, it can be seen in
Ferdinand s speech to the Duchess in act III, scene ii, in which he tells her an allegorical story
about reputation, love, and death (See appendix). Given the Duke s choleric disposition and
unnaturally obsessive fixation on his sister s sexual activity, it is not altogether certain how far
his speech is motivated by pride and how much it is a product of another mortal sin (not treated
here), lust. All the same, it is indicative of an overall world view in which pride of place is
woven into the social fabric of the time. (Indeed, things are not so very different today, 400 years
later Plus ca change...)
The Duchess offers up her own little allegorical tale at the end of act IV, scene iii in which she
relates the fable of the salmon and the dogfish to her murderer to be, Bosola (see appendix). This
speech is the perfect companion piece and point/counterpoint style retort to Ferdinand s paranoid
parable. Where Ferdinand casts death as a mere supporting character in his story, the Duchess more
rightly sees death, the net, as the great leveler, bringing an end to the foolish, proud scorn of great
men for those born

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Epilepsy
Business Understanding
According to World Health Organisation (2017), around 50 million people worldwide have
epilepsy. Unfortunately, epilepsy cannot be cured, but could be controlled by pharmacological or
electrical treatment based on seizure prediction (Moghim Corne, 2014). Since EEG has advantages
such as speed, high time resolution and non invasive natures, it maintains one of the most
frequently used tools in predicting epilepsy (Hasan et al. 2017).
Electroencephalography (EEG) has a broad use in both medical practices and medical research for
diagnosing and identifying epileptic seizures, syncope (fainting), cognitive psychologies, and
psychophysiological research (Niedermever, 2004). Commonly used in identifying epilepsy, the
EEG helps the doctors to distinguish types of seizures, the reasons to trigger the seizures and also
the treatment needed. Types of EEG are different according to test aims, facilities, medical and
patients situations, and are generally separated into 4 types: Routine EEG, Sleep EEG, Ambulatory
EEG and Video EEG. All of the types would record electrical activities of the brain, investigate
their potential fluctuations and brain waves, and perform analysis to convert the data into useful
information in identifying the seizures. Usually, the EEG test will last for 20 to 40 minutes, and
will be conducted by attaching scalp with the electrodes which are connected to an EEG recording
machine (NHS, 2017).
There are three main cases to be solved in this project. First is to identify whether an EEG showing
seizure or not. Second is to identify the 5 categories of EEG. Third is to identify the classification
of EEG, whether it is indicating healthy brain activity, potential epileptic seizure or actual epileptic
seizure.
Data Understanding

The Cost Of Late Term Abortion
Late Term Abortion By Kelsey Holm The Cost of Late Term Abortion We have seen a
monumental amount of political and social activism coming from Pro life and Pro choice
proponents in the 25 years following the Supreme Court s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade.
Far from settling the issue of a woman s constitutional right to an abortion, the Roe decision
galvanized pro life and prochoice groups and precipitated many small battles in what many on
both sides view to be a war between fetal protection and women s access to reproductive choice
(Oliveri, 1998). Now, the choice to abort a child in what is now being deemed as late term
abortion is something that activists and political leaders are wanting. This argument goes
beyond the political level and is now at the judicial level. This argument has even gone into the
main streets of our society with each side gaining and losing ground. More recently, we have a
presidential candidate who sides with Pro choice and late term abortion. Pro life activists staged
peaceful, nation wide campaign of clinic protests to oppose this cause. The protests had to be
peaceful because of violent conflicts that occurred in the past which led Congress in 1994 to
enactment of the Federal Access to Clinic Entrances law (Oliveri, 1998). This law created specific
civil and criminal penalties for violence outside of abortion clinics (Oliveri, 1998). State legislatures
imposed limitations on the right to abortion, including

Review Of Eat Mor Chikin
A Chik Fil A Located In Vail
Eat Mor Chikin! Shouts this fast food chain s mascot. The Chik Fil A mascot may not be well
educated, misspelling common known words, but he knows how to get people to eat and enjoy
this new american classic. The Chik Fil A restaurants are one of the most popular eating
establishments in America. People of all ages enjoy their food but people in Vail, Arizona are
feeling left out of this delicious picture.
History of Chik Fil A In 1951, S. Truett Cathy made an outstanding discovery. After fifteen years of
being in the greasy fast food business he found a pressure fryer that could cook a delicious chicken
sandwich in the same time as it would a hamburger patty (Chik Fil A.com). Cathy loved it. He
decided to birth The Chik Fil A. Because of the noteable all chicken menu and new way of
making chicken sandwiches, Cathy came up with the slogan, We did not invent the chicken, just
the chicken sandwich. Believe it or not Chik Fil A is half a century old. The first ever to open
was at Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta. Throughout the seventies and eighties this franchise expanded
their business by opening new restaurants in mall food courts. Finally in 1986 Chik Fil A opened
their very first ever freestanding restaurant. Now as of 2015 there at approximately 1,900 locations
in forty two states (Chik Fil A.com). There are in fact twenty eight different Chik Fil A locations in
the state of Arizona. But, in Vail, Arizona, there are zero of

A Report On Military Worms
Military worms can also be used for reconnaissance. In, 2012, shortly after Stuxnet, the Russians
discovered a virus, later named Flame, which had been extracting and dumping all data from
Russian computers. The article, Flame: Massive cyber attack discovered, researchers say by Dave
Lee explains, Once a system is infected, Flame begins a complex set of operations, including
sniffing the network traffic, taking screenshots, recording audio conversations, intercepting the
keyboard, and so on (Lee). This usage of computer worms demonstrates the versatility of
cyberwarfare. Not only can computer worms target specific factories and agencies, they can also
be used to collect data secretly from other countries. In this passage, the author says Flame has been
taking screenshots, recording audio conversations, [and] intercepting the keyboard. Imagine if the
U.S. was attacked by Flame. The virus could have been recording all search history, what
individuals look like, and what they have said around their computer for months, while it sends all
of this information to another country. This gives some insight into how powerful cyber weapons
can be. The have the power to stalk anyone, almost anywhere, while remaining almost completely
undetected. Later in the document, David Lee writes, Whereas Stuxnet just had one purpose in life,
Flame is a toolkit, so they can go after just about everything they can get their hands on. Once the

Batman And Batman
Inspired, but Independent
Both Batwoman and Batman are vigilantes in the fictional city of Gotham. The characters mostly
exist in the comics to help each other. With Batwoman being initially created to set her partner s
sexuality record straight, they take off to work together. Their existence in Gotham as Batmanand
Batwoman, albeit being illegal, is much need by the residents who suffer in the hands of the highly
skilled criminals such as the Joker who have mastered their techniques. The police department is
simply lacking in comparison to the skills of the criminals and they cannot help but watch as the
residents get terrorized. Furthermore, neither Batwoman nor Batman work for the government,
hence their crime solving is not biased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC
Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face
during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted
her wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any
superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters
wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent
superhero with her own ways and rulebooks.
Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the
criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a
robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do he simply watched as
his parents bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy s mind. He
could not, no matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the night he became an orphan. After
school and running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by
fighting criminals.
Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman s painful
sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister. At the age twelve, on her birthday, Kate,
her twin sister and her mother were kidnapped, but her mother and supposedly her sister

Chomsky And The War On Terror
We live in a day and age of hypocrisy and it seems that a majority don t acknowledge that we are
all total hypocrites. Noam Chomsky, a well known American linguist, philosopher, cognitive
scientist, logician, political commentator, social justice activist, and anarcho syndicalist advocate
does an elaborate job in his speech given at Harvard University, to make us question if there really
is a war on terror. Chomsky calls everybody a hypocrite and uses the U.S. Army Manual definition
of terrorismto argue that there can t be a war on terrorism because the U.S. is also a terrorist group
itself. We can t fight something if we ourselves do that same thing. Chomsky backs up his claim
with many pieces of evidence and facts about the U.S. involvement with terrorist actions. His
argument is well put because it does a good job in making us understand what is really happening
with the U.S. and the war on terror.
People are probably thinking Chomsky must be crazy, to call America a terrorist group.
Americans view America as a nation that fights terror and fail to look at all the reports and
articles about the U.S. actually doing acts that are defined to be terrorist acts. If you love
America, then you must know about the great document called The Declaration of Independence.
It was written by one of our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson. People back in the day looked at
Jefferson as a crazy person as well when he wrote the document. How could he address a new type

Pros And Cons Of Stricter Gun Control Laws In The United...
The Second Amendment to the Constitution upholds the right of the people to keep and bear
arms. Throughout American history there have been many regulations placed on gun
ownership, but they prove to be ineffective as almost anyone can obtain a gun through both legal
and illegal methods. Many gun control legislations meant to regulate gun ownership have been
stalled in Congress. Recent events in the past decade, such as the Las Vegas shooting in October
2017 and the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012, seem to provide more than enough reason
for stricter gun control laws in the United States, but there is not much progress being made to
establish stricter laws as both sides of the debate cannot come to a fair compromise. If the United
States were to adopt stricter gun control laws, there would be fewer mass shootings, a lower
murder rate, and less violent crime. The United States should pursue new gun laws to create a
safer environment for everyone. In the past decade alone, there have been countless mass
shootings in the United States alone resulting in a large body count. Whenever a mass shooting
occurs, a debate always follows about how easy it is to obtain firearms, despite background checks
that have been enacted to make it difficult to purchase firearms. Background checks are designed to
determine if the prospective buyer fits any criteria that prohibit purchase or possession of firearms,
including a prior felony conviction, certain domestic violence misdemeanors, unlawful use of
controlled substances or, inter alia, commitment to a mental institution. (Vernick et al. 98).
Background checks are necessary for public safety, but people manage to maneuver their way
around background checks when it comes to purchasing a firearm. A background check is not
required when purchasing from an unlicensed dealer such as an online store or dealers at a gun
show. People prohibited from purchasing guns go through unlicensed dealers because they are
not required by law to perform background checks for a firearm purchase. For example, four to
ten percent of online shoppers are prohibited by law from possessing firearms, yet they still are
looking around in online gun stores (98). Legislation should be passed to

The Color Green In The Scarlet Letter Essay
When you see the color green, there are many things you could think of. You might think of a stop
sign and how green means go. You might think of how green is the color of life and growth. Then
again, you might think of the green shirt of your favorite video game character. Or you might think
of Slytherin, because Slytherin s house colors are greenand silver. The colorgreen has many
different meanings depending on who you are. Anything can be a symbol of multiple things,

She just so happened to be invited just minutes after the Governor had been trying to come up
with an excuse to take Pearl away from her. Hester says, Had they taken her from me, I would
willingly have gone with thee into the forest, and signed my name in the Black Man s book too,
and that with mine own blood!
(page 115) Without Pearl, Hester would be far gone. Luckily, the Governor was unable to come
up with a good enough reason to take Pearl away, and he never did try again. Pearl gives Hester a
reason to live correctly and a reason to hope. Because she was brought into the world in an act of
adultery, the sight of her constantly reminds her mother of the sins of her past, which reminds her
to do right. Not only is Pearl a symbol of salvation, at least of Hester s salvation, she is a sign of
hope and the better things in life.
The themes in the Scarlet Letter are strongly shown through Pearl. One of the strongest themes is
love, and Pearl is the best place to find examples of love. Her very existence is a result of the love
between Hester and Arthur, and even though this is a partially sinful love, it is pure and it is

Parks and recreation areas have been developed at many former sites where mountain top
removal mining had been in service. A little more than half of all former sites have been
transformed to recreation areas. And in most of those cases the mining companies that control
the property pay for those areas (Gardner). Not all of the areas have been transferred to
recreational areas. Other areas have been converted to land fills, industrial plants, and, roads and
bridges. It is estimated that the mountain top removal mining companies have contributed over 50
billion dollars developing these projects and cleaning the sites since 1980. In September 2010,
Gregory H. Boyce, President and C.E.O. Of Peabody Energy, released a plan to eliminate energy

The Conflict Of The Niger Delta
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONFLICT IN THE NIGER DELTA
Nigeria is the 7th world largest oil producer and is a major player in the world energy market. Oil
and gas is Nigeria s main source of revenue. It accounts for about 40% of the Gross Domestic
Product and 70% of government revenues (Lawal 2004). Crude oil was first discovered in 1956 by
Shell British Petroleum in a small village called Oloibiri present day Bayelsa State. Two years later
oil in larger quantities was discovered in Ogoni.
The Niger delta region has a population of 28 million people, a coverage of 70,000 square
kilometers consisting of 606 fields, 5,284 wells, 7,000 kilometers of pipelines, 10 export terminals,
275 flow stations and a liquefied natural gas sector (Williams 2011). The Niger delta which is
Nigeria s oil belt has been embroiled in conflict and resistance against the government and
multinational oil corporations that extract oil in the region. The Niger delta is highly volatile with
insurgent groups controlling the area. Years of oil exploitation, environmental degradation and
neglecting by the states has created an impoverished, marginalized and exploited region which has
produced resistance form the youth in the Niger delta region. A regime of state repression and
corporate violence has further generated popular criminal violence, lawlessness, illegal
appropriations and insecurity (Williams 2011).
Conflict in the Niger delta arose in the early 1990 s due to tension between the foreign oil

Such studies examine whether sports lead athletes to define and experience their bodies as
machines designed to produce entertainment and profits for others rather than feelings of
pleasure for themselves. (Coakley, 1998) Meggyesy described this phenomenon when he said: I
also realized, paradoxically, how cut off and removed I was from my body. I knew my body
more thoroughly than most men are ever able to, but I had used it and thought of it as a
machine, a thing that had to be well oiled, well fed, and well taken care of, to do a specific job.
(Meggyesy, 1970, p. 231) Unfortunately, maintaining this machine often meant that athletes
would use drugs such as amphetamines, barbiturates, steroids, or cortisone injections not for the
purpose of treatment and cure, but for the purpose of stimulating the mind and body in order to
perform more violently as a professional. (Meggyesy, 1970) The prevalence of these drugs in the
NFL could be seen in Meggyesy s words, Most NFL trainers do more dealing in these drugs than
the average junky. (Meggyesy, 1970, p. 83) Meggyesy s coaches also treated athletes as machines
because their concern for the well being of athletes was only to the extent that they could contribute
to their primary concern of winning games. For example, while Meggyesy was at Syracuse
University, the primary concern of the coaches was to win a national

Cultural Pluralism Sociology
Robert E. Park was a huge contributor in establishing sociology in the United States in the 1920s
and 1930s. His theory of assimilation was analyzing a social process and social interaction. Park
argued that assimilation is inevitable in a democratic and industrial society (Healey, 2017, 50). Park
strongly believed that when the American society begins to modernize, ethnic and racegroups would
lose importance. This theory was proven to be true in the European immigrant groups across the
20th century. Due to industrialization, the nature of work in America evolved and changed and
created opportunities for upward mobility for white ethnic groups (Healey, 2017, 81). A form of
upward mobility was resulted in the changes in the structure of the economy and labor market. This
was called structural mobility. The descendants of European immigrants became upwardly mobile
not only because of their individual ambitions and efforts but also because of the changing location
or jobs and the progressively greater opportunities for education available for them (Healey, 2017,
81).
Pluralism can be distinguished by two different types: cultural and structural. Cultural pluralism
exists when groups have not acculturated and each maintains its own identity. The groups might
speak different languages, practice different religions, and have different value systems (Healey,
2017, 55). The Amish are a perfect representation of a cultural pluralism. They are separated from
the dominant culture

The World Wide Web is a system of internet servers that contain documents formatted in HTML.
This supports links to other documents and also supports graphics, audio and video.
2Internet Service Providers (ISP);
An internet service provider (ISP) is a service that provides access to the internet. They provide
the user with services such as broadband and phone services. For a monthly price the user is
provided with a router which they can then connect to either with a wired or wireless
connection. An internet connection enables the user to connect many devices to the internet at
the same time. The router and phone are normally plugged in to the same socket which then
connects the router to the internet. Internet service providers may also provide the user with an
e mail address as a part of the service. Different providers offer different packages for different
prices, for example some may have a capped usage which may be better for people who do not
use the internet as much and would be able to save money by purchasing this. Different
companies compete to gain more customers and will claim to have a higher upload and download

Reading Once Again The Story Of The Canaanite Woman Essay
In reading once again the story of the Canaanite woman I read deeper and I came to this
conclusion. At first sight Jesus seems to behaving in a way that is not at all characteristic of
him. Unless we had this story in the Gospels we would surely not imagine Jesus ever behaving
as he does in this story. When the woman asks for his help Jesus doesn t even answer her. He
ignores her completely. He is, we might say, willfully deaf to her heartfelt cry for help, even
when she persists with it, refusing to take his silence for an answer. When Jesus does speak it is
apparently to exclude any possibility that he would heal her daughter. Only when she cleverly
answers back does he give in. This must be the only occasion in the Gospels when Jesus does
not respond to a request for healing or exorcism. It isn t the only occasion when the disciples try
to protect him from being pestered by people, but it is the only occasion when Jesus seems
himself to want precisely that. Is this really the same Jesus we know from the rest of the
Gospels as the one who welcomed all comers, who went out of his way to reach the outcasts of
society, the marginalized, the sinners? The only way to answer that is to do what we always have
to do when someone we know behaves in an uncharacteristic way. We have to find some way of
understanding how they can do that, how it is consistent with what we otherwise know of that
person, how our mental portrait of that person may have to be revised to

Effective Leadership Approaches From Biblical Perspective...
Introduction
Effective leadership approaches from a biblical perspective consist of God s nature in his
manifested character. Christian leaders are willing to pay the price to lead in Christ s affliction.
Paul said there is a price to pay in order to lead and Jesus reminded us, Remember what I told
you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.
If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also (John 15:20, New International Version).
Christian leaders need core attributes of God s styles and approaches, support and linkage from
scriptures, and knowledge of his leadership models of truth for effective leadership. However,
these perspectives will gave me a better appreciation and insight of who God is and who I can be
with his guidance.
Core Attributes
There are many people in scripture that God has placed in leadership roles. Jesus himself, David,
Moses, Paul, Peter, Abraham and many others are some of those leaders. There are core
attributes discussed in the lecture that personally reflect my opinion of what an effective leader
of Christ needs such as, a shared vision, model of the way, empowerment of others, challenge of
the process, and encouragement of the heart. Leaders establish a model of the way others should
be treated and how goals should be pursued, with standards and examples of what others should
follow by exemplifying God s example. Christian leaders inspire a shared vision to make a
difference

How To Go Sled
Once we got our snow gear on and closed the door to the porch, Emmi noticed a bird lying in the

Every year, until now, we had a contest to see who could make it the farthest down the hill.
Since we wanted to win, all we would do is sled. We tried several strategies, like toboggans, circle

Understanding Change Management Models With The End Goal
We live in a world that is full of change and our organization is no different. With the upcoming
move ahead of us to Arizona in the next 12 months we must start preparing. Our company has
2500 employees. We must be aware that some will lose their jobs, some will retire and some will
move with the company. I will compare and contrast nine change models with the end goal to select
one that best fits this organizational move. The most appropriate model will then be broken down
by each step to show how it will be utilized within our company for this move. In order to be
successful, we must understand to manage the correct strategy for our organization. Understanding
change managementmodels can help managers evaluate, design, and deploy an approach to changes
in organizations. It is important to do this because of the human nature for people to resist change.
Even the simplest of things can cause employees to react strongly. Organizations must change in
order to remain successful and competitive. With that being said lets get started.
These are a list of the nine models that I will compare for our organizational change. The Lewin,
three step model, Bullock and Batten, planned change, Kotter, eight steps, Beckhard and Harris,
change formula, Nadler and Tushman, congruence model, William Bridges, managing the

Analysis of The Unknown Citizen by W.H. Auden Essay examples
Analysis of The Unknown Citizen by W.H. Auden The Unknown Citizen , written by W.H. Auden
during 1940, is a poem where the speaker, a representative of the state or government, directs a
speech to the audience about a monument being erected for a citizen. Written in free verse,
although using many couplets, this poem is a poem that describes the life of a certain person
through his records and documents. This citizen is portrayed as a normal and average human being
who is being honoured for being normal. Auden, however, uses the fact that the state is honouring
someone for being normal to criticise his society. By emphasizing certain grammatical conventions
and the structure the author explains the true meaning of this poem,... Show more content on

Throughout the poem, Auden sarcastically shows that the state is erecting a monument for a
nobody. Monuments are usually erected as a memorial to a person with outstanding
accomplishments who stand out from the rest of the population. However, this citizen does not
do anything that makes him different from the rest of the population. As Auden writes: The
Press are convinced that he bought a paper every day And that his reactions to advertisements
were normal in every way. Policies taken out in his name prove that he was fully insured, And
his Health card shows he was once in a hospital but left it cured. Both Producers Research and
High Grade Living declare He was fully sensible to the advantages of the Installment Plan And
had everything necessary to the Modern Man, A phonograph, a radio, a car and a frigidaire. Our
researchers into Public Opinion are content That he held the proper opinions for the time of
year; When there was peace, he was for peace; when there was war, he went. (14 24) The author
describes this citizen as being an overall regular man in society, who did not change or impact the
world by any means. He was a normal man who bought a paper every day

Persuasive Essay On Heart Transplant
My grandpa died of heart complications. He had gone through many stages in the process leading
to a heart transplant, and had been put on the list for a heart. At the time that he passed I knew he
needed a heart transplant, but I was unsure of what it actually was. A heart transplant is an
operation to remove a diseased heartand to replace it with an appropriate donor heart. There is a
rigorous process to determine a heart transplant is going to be performed on a proper candidate.
There is always a need for donors with healthy hearts. As written by the History.com staff, in 1958,
Norman Shumway performed the first successful heart transplant on a dog at Stanford University.
It wasn t until December 3, 1967, that the first human heart transplant was completed in Cape
Town, South Africa. Lewis Washkansky was dying from chronic heart disease and received a
donor heart from Denise Darvall, a twenty five year old woman who died in a car accident.
Christiaan Barnard, a reputable surgeon, performed this cutting edge procedure. Eighteen days after,
Washkansky died of pneumonia due to the susceptibility to illness that the anti rejection medication
opened him up to. Regardless of this, his heart functioned properly until his death. In the 1970 s
better anti rejection medication had developed and many of Barnard s patients were living up to
five years with their new hearts (History.com staff).
Heart transplants are known as a last resort. When other treatments, such as

Was Agamemnon Is Achilles Justified In The Aeneid
Through the history of the world, man has always been driven by self gain and each man believes
he is self justified. When Agamemnon and Achilles argue over the return of Chryseis and the prize
Briseis, they both think they are right. Achilles convinces Agamemnon to return the stolen Chryseis
but King Agamemnontakes AchillesBriseis as compensation. Agamemnon is most justified in his
actions. No, he did not fight on the front lines with Achilles and his men, but as the king he has
every right to stay behind his army and lead. A king should be ready to give everything for his
kingdom, but that does not mean they should lead every charge. Many people have pointed out
that if it were expected of a King to fight in every battle it would be impossible for him to... Show

Achilles claims that a King who fights no battles should get no prize, but as explained before no
king should should be expected to fight on the front lines of every war. The fight between the two
grows after Achilles throws an offside insult to Agamemnon when telling him the rest of the war
spoils have been given out. Just how, Agamemnon, great field marshal . . . most grasping man
alive... After this insult Agamemnon need to fire back, because he can t be torn down in front all
of the nobles and warriors present. The insults escalate until Agamemnon and Achilles are ready to
kill each other. In this situation they were both being childish and petty but Agamemnon is still the
least wrong. Achilles fired the first shot in this case and Agamemnon needed to protect his
reputation. He could have stepped away and showed he couldn t be brought down by insults but in
the heat of the moment, he wouldn t have been thinking the clearest. Now addressing the obvious,
Briseis was rightfully Achilles prize and Agamemnon stole her from him to replace Chryseis. As a
King, Agamemnon would be expected to have the best prizes after the

Practical Constraints
Practical Constraints Over sixty artworks are from the David Roberts Collection including some
never seen before works, such as work by Caroline Achaintre, Roy Lichtenstein (nude in the
Woods, 1980, it was noted to me whilst on the guided tour that this was a rare woodcut by the
artist) and James Rosenquist. There are also commissions by artists such as murals by Allison
Katz, flower arrangements and video pieces by Luiz Roque and also loans from the designers
Claude and Francois Xavier Lalanne. Funding came from the David Roberts Art Fund and they
had a large collection of works to choose from. They had to be careful about security for the more
well known works. Some of the pieces were particularly large or heavy, such as Emily Young s

A key term used when describing the exhibition space is mise en scГЁne . Mise en scГЁne is an
expression used to describe the design aspects of a theatre or film production, which means
visual theme or perhaps more pertinently telling a story both in visually artful ways through
storyboarding, cinematography and stage design, and in poetically artful ways through
direction. It is also commonly used to refer to multiple single scenes within the film to represent
the film. This is particularly the case in this show as each room has a different look and feel like
one would experience in a theatre; for example the Main Stage has a very different look and feel
that the Backstage area. The Main Stage is particularly evocative of the shows aims and
provides a centre point for the show especially the main stage itself which has been constructed
especially for this show and painted green. Emily Young s Archangel I 2004 (see figure 1) made
from Monteone onyx stone is situated on the edge of the stage and can be seen straight away as
one enters from the bar. This sculpture, which weighs one tonne , had clearly exercised difficulties
due to its weight and size. The polished stone resembles a woman s head who appears to be singing
on the stage. The polished stone is sensuous and smooth with a strong sense of past and time. This
is the antithesis of the blunt, cumbersome and

Faith is a hard thing to master, and sometimes obtaining it is even harder. Many of the character

world. The difference between good and evil is a relevant idea in the road, everyone that we
come in contact with we are always pose with that one question, are you one of the good guys? .
For There to be a good guy there has to be a bad guy . To separate the good guys from everyone
else. This question that is posed leads to many different aspects of a person; trust, will, and belief.
In Cormac McCarthyNovel, The Road, McCarthy uses Characterflashbacks, motif, and religious

Obesity And Weight Loss And Obesity
Obesity
Obesity and weight loss is an issue that many men and women deal with on a daily basis.
According to the Mayo Clinic obesity is defined as a complex disorder involving an excessive
amount of body fat (Mayo, 1998 2016). Obesity in men, women, and children increases the risk of
diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. Early
prevention during childhood deceases the chances of the individual being obese during adulthood.
Early prevention includes limiting the amount of sugary drinks, high calorie snacks, and promoting
exercise on a daily basis. Obesity is a worldwide condition that has mental, physical, and social
effects on individuals that are diagnosed with the condition. In this paper the effectiveness of
cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing on individuals with
obesity will be explored and discussed.
For many young and older adults treating obesity is not an easy task to accomplish on your own
which leads to yo yo diets and fad diets that are seen on TV. Being overweight can cause a person
to become depressed, binge eaters, and displaying signs of having an emotional disorder. Studies
have found that when depressed people eat to feel better they gain weight and being overweight
cause the depression which triggers the overeating. This cycle of depression and overeating cause
the individual to feel judged, socially rejected, and discriminated against. When the person is obese

Legal Impacts Of Mortgage Loans
A.B. 468 was presented by Marcus Conklin, representing the Nevada Mortgage Lenders
Association. The purpose of this bill is to combine provisions related to the regulation of mortgage
brokers and mortgage bankers in NRS into a single chapter. As a result, both of these professions
would be known as MortgageLoans Originators . The bill was originally in Ways and Means then
referred to Commerce and Labor and now back in Ways and Means. The original fiscal note
submitted by the Mortgage Lending Division was $27,700 less in annual renewal fees and
indicated that the new regulations would cost them around $10,000. There would not be a fiscal
impact on the General fund since the fees collected by the division would cover that expense.

Note: The amendment would require the PUC to review a distributed resource plan. As a
consequence, the PUC asserted that this would require two full time senior attorneys, a full time
electrical engineer, and would cost $721,392 over the biennium. Furthermore, the PUC added that
there would require an additional $18,000 over the biennium for training expenditures. Chair
Carlton asked to confirm if these were General Fund dollars. Joe Reynolds, Chairman of the
PUCN, responded that Chair Carlton was correct and added that the dollars would be generated
through the Mills Assessment
S.B. 150 was presented by Senator Spearman. The purpose of this bill is to require the PUCN to
establish annual goals for energy savings applicable to electric utilities in this state. The PUC
originally stated that there would be no fiscal impact. After the bill was amended, the PUC
submitted an unsolicited fiscal note of $487,618 over the biennium for a full time senior attorney,
one part time senior attorney, and a part time regulatory economist.
S.B. 496 was presented by Senator Woodhouse. The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Board

The cultural difference installs an idea of impressing and respecting the superiority. This insight causes him to not fully comprehend his new life and will not be beneficial for the future. Invisible Manhad to have a meeting with Mr. Bledsoe to speak about the events that happened with Mr. Norton. In this meeting, he is expelled and Mr. Bledsoe offers him an opportunity to travel to New York with letters for a request for work: These letters will be sealed; don t open them if you want help. Not only was it a major battle that helped end the war but also showed the power of the Continental Army s field artillery. The battle was a major turning point in establishing the freedom of the United States of America and was the last major battle of the war. The Continental and French forces moved to Yorktown on 28 September 1781, however the first shot was not fired until 9 October of 1781. It was roughly ten days of continuous artilleryfire that helped demoralize the British forces, leading to their surrender on 19 October 1781. The lead up to the Battle of Yorktown started when Lieutenant General Lord William Cornwallis led his army to Yorktown to try and establish a deep sea port for British use. His two year campaign through the south fighting against the likes of General Nathanael Greene and General George Washington took its toll on his forces. He marched his army of 7,000 troops to the harbor town of Yorktown located next to the York River in Virginia. In the latter play, it can be seen in Ferdinand s speech to the Duchess in act III, scene ii, in which he tells her an allegorical story about reputation, love, and death (See appendix). Given the Duke s choleric disposition and unnaturally obsessive fixation on his sister s sexual activity, it is not altogether certain how far his speech is motivated by pride and how much it is a product of another mortal sin (not treated here), lust. All the same, it is indicative of an overall world view in which pride of place is woven into the social fabric of the time. • 19. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Epilepsy Business Understanding According to World Health Organisation (2017), around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy. Unfortunately, epilepsy cannot be cured, but could be controlled by pharmacological or electrical treatment based on seizure prediction (Moghim Corne, 2014). Since EEG has advantages such as speed, high time resolution and non invasive natures, it maintains one of the most frequently used tools in predicting epilepsy (Hasan et al. 2017). Electroencephalography (EEG) has a broad use in both medical practices and medical research for diagnosing and identifying epileptic seizures, syncope (fainting), cognitive psychologies, and psychophysiological research (Niedermever, 2004). Commonly used in identifying epilepsy, the EEG helps the doctors to distinguish types of seizures, the reasons to trigger the seizures and also the treatment needed. Types of EEG are different according to test aims, facilities, medical and patients situations, and are generally separated into 4 types: Routine EEG, Sleep EEG, Ambulatory EEG and Video EEG. All of the types would record electrical activities of the brain, investigate their potential fluctuations and brain waves, and perform analysis to convert the data into useful information in identifying the seizures. Usually, the EEG test will last for 20 to 40 minutes, and will be conducted by attaching scalp with the electrodes which are connected to an EEG recording machine (NHS, 2017). There are three main cases to be solved in this project. First is to identify whether an EEG showing seizure or not. Second is to identify the 5 categories of EEG. Third is to identify the classification of EEG, whether it is indicating healthy brain activity, potential epileptic seizure or actual epileptic seizure. Data Understanding The given data set contains fields such as ID, X1 to X178 which represents the 1 second EEG result and y which represents the EEG type. The Cost Of Late Term Abortion Late Term Abortion By Kelsey Holm The Cost of Late Term Abortion We have seen a monumental amount of political and social activism coming from Pro life and Pro choice proponents in the 25 years following the Supreme Court s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade. Far from settling the issue of a woman s constitutional right to an abortion, the Roe decision galvanized pro life and prochoice groups and precipitated many small battles in what many on both sides view to be a war between fetal protection and women s access to reproductive choice (Oliveri, 1998). Now, the choice to abort a child in what is now being deemed as late term abortion is something that activists and political leaders are wanting. This argument goes beyond the political level and is now at the judicial level. This argument has even gone into the main streets of our society with each side gaining and losing ground. More recently, we have a presidential candidate who sides with Pro choice and late term abortion. Pro life activists staged peaceful, nation wide campaign of clinic protests to oppose this cause. The protests had to be peaceful because of violent conflicts that occurred in the past which led Congress in 1994 to enactment of the Federal Access to Clinic Entrances law (Oliveri, 1998). This law created specific civil and criminal penalties for violence outside of abortion clinics (Oliveri, 1998). State legislatures imposed limitations on the right to abortion, including ... Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted her wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent superhero with her own ways and rulebooks. Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do he simply watched as his parents bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy s mind. He could not, no matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the night he became an orphan. After school and running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by fighting criminals. Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman s painful sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister. Noam Chomsky, a well known American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, logician, political commentator, social justice activist, and anarcho syndicalist advocate does an elaborate job in his speech given at Harvard University, to make us question if there really is a war on terror. Chomsky calls everybody a hypocrite and uses the U.S. Army Manual definition of terrorismto argue that there can t be a war on terrorism because the U.S. is also a terrorist group itself. We can t fight something if we ourselves do that same thing. Chomsky backs up his claim with many pieces of evidence and facts about the U.S. involvement with terrorist actions. His argument is well put because it does a good job in making us understand what is really happening with the U.S. and the war on terror. People are probably thinking Chomsky must be crazy, to call America a terrorist group. Americans view America as a nation that fights terror and fail to look at all the reports and articles about the U.S. actually doing acts that are defined to be terrorist acts. If you love America, then you must know about the great document called The Declaration of Independence. It was written by one of our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson. • 25. Pros And Cons Of Stricter Gun Control Laws In The United... The Second Amendment to the Constitution upholds the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Throughout American history there have been many regulations placed on gun ownership, but they prove to be ineffective as almost anyone can obtain a gun through both legal and illegal methods. Many gun control legislations meant to regulate gun ownership have been stalled in Congress. Recent events in the past decade, such as the Las Vegas shooting in October 2017 and the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012, seem to provide more than enough reason for stricter gun control laws in the United States, but there is not much progress being made to establish stricter laws as both sides of the debate cannot come to a fair compromise. If the United States were to adopt stricter gun control laws, there would be fewer mass shootings, a lower murder rate, and less violent crime. The United States should pursue new gun laws to create a safer environment for everyone. In the past decade alone, there have been countless mass shootings in the United States alone resulting in a large body count. Whenever a mass shooting occurs, a debate always follows about how easy it is to obtain firearms, despite background checks that have been enacted to make it difficult to purchase firearms. Background checks are designed to determine if the prospective buyer fits any criteria that prohibit purchase or possession of firearms, including a prior felony conviction, certain domestic violence misdemeanors, unlawful use of controlled substances or, inter alia, commitment to a mental institution. (Vernick et al. 98). Background checks are necessary for public safety, but people manage to maneuver their way around background checks when it comes to purchasing a firearm. A background check is not required when purchasing from an unlicensed dealer such as an online store or dealers at a gun show. People prohibited from purchasing guns go through unlicensed dealers because they are not required by law to perform background checks for a firearm purchase. For example, four to ten percent of online shoppers are prohibited by law from possessing firearms, yet they still are looking around in online gun stores (98). Legislation should be passed to ... • 31. Cultural Pluralism Sociology Robert E. Park was a huge contributor in establishing sociology in the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. His theory of assimilation was analyzing a social process and social interaction. Park argued that assimilation is inevitable in a democratic and industrial society (Healey, 2017, 50). Park strongly believed that when the American society begins to modernize, ethnic and racegroups would lose importance. This theory was proven to be true in the European immigrant groups across the 20th century. Due to industrialization, the nature of work in America evolved and changed and created opportunities for upward mobility for white ethnic groups (Healey, 2017, 81). A form of upward mobility was resulted in the changes in the structure of the economy and labor market. This was called structural mobility. The descendants of European immigrants became upwardly mobile not only because of their individual ambitions and efforts but also because of the changing location or jobs and the progressively greater opportunities for education available for them (Healey, 2017, 81). Pluralism can be distinguished by two different types: cultural and structural. Cultural pluralism exists when groups have not acculturated and each maintains its own identity. The groups might speak different languages, practice different religions, and have different value systems (Healey, 2017, 55). The Amish are a perfect representation of a cultural pluralism. • 34. Reading Once Again The Story Of The Canaanite Woman Essay In reading once again the story of the Canaanite woman I read deeper and I came to this conclusion. At first sight Jesus seems to behaving in a way that is not at all characteristic of him. Unless we had this story in the Gospels we would surely not imagine Jesus ever behaving as he does in this story. When the woman asks for his help Jesus doesn t even answer her. He ignores her completely. He is, we might say, willfully deaf to her heartfelt cry for help, even when she persists with it, refusing to take his silence for an answer. When Jesus does speak it is apparently to exclude any possibility that he would heal her daughter. Only when she cleverly answers back does he give in. This must be the only occasion in the Gospels when Jesus does not respond to a request for healing or exorcism. It isn t the only occasion when the disciples try to protect him from being pestered by people, but it is the only occasion when Jesus seems himself to want precisely that. Is this really the same Jesus we know from the rest of the Gospels as the one who welcomed all comers, who went out of his way to reach the outcasts of society, the marginalized, the sinners? The only way to answer that is to do what we always have to do when someone we know behaves in an uncharacteristic way. We have to find some way of understanding how they can do that, how it is consistent with what we otherwise know of that person, how our mental portrait of that person may have to be revised to ... Christian leaders are willing to pay the price to lead in Christ s affliction. Paul said there is a price to pay in order to lead and Jesus reminded us, Remember what I told you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. Core Attributes There are many people in scripture that God has placed in leadership roles. Jesus himself, David, Moses, Paul, Peter, Abraham and many others are some of those leaders. There are core attributes discussed in the lecture that personally reflect my opinion of what an effective leader of Christ needs such as, a shared vision, model of the way, empowerment of others, challenge of the process, and encouragement of the heart. Leaders establish a model of the way others should be treated and how goals should be pursued, with standards and examples of what others should follow by exemplifying God s example.
