Jacey Observation
I recently had the opportunity to observe a 33 month old boy named Jacey in our church nursery. On
this particular Sunday we had several families unable to attend worship service due to a nasty virus
that has been going through our community, so Jacey was the only child in the nursery during my
observation. I quickly learned that this little guy is full of energy and excitement, and also a little bit of
attitude, with sticky fingers and rosy cheeks! It was clear to see that he is an adventure seeker as he
explored his surroundings with eyes that appeared to be thoughtful as his curious little mind absorbed
every single inflection of the words spoken by those who interacted with him and all of this is what I
observed within just the first five minutes of my time spent with Jacey. Over the course of the hour
there would be squeals of joy, rambunctious play, silly faces made, as well as times of crossed arms
and feet stomping in frustration. Life as a two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He simply observed her at first, as she suggested different ways to build and play with the blocks,
using the method of guided participation (Martorell, et al., 2014) to help Jacey feel comfortable and
really settle in and begin to play. Eventually, Jacey did begin to play alongside her, building different
designs with the blocks. This type of play, with building patterns and intention, is what our text book
would call constructive play (Martorell, et al., 2014). As Jacey played, his excitement grew over what
he was creating and every now and then he would speak to his caregiver and show her what he was
doing. His sentences followed the rules for syntax speech as he put together sentences that made sense
(Martorell, et al., 2014). Not to be too committed with his attention, Jacey would randomly get up and
run about the room he definitely had too much energy to sit still very long and just play with

Glutamate Receptors
In glutamatergic synapses the neurotransmitter glutamate transmits nerve impulses. Glutamate is the
prevalent excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS). It can act on two
distinguished receptors: ligand gated ion channels (ionotropic receptors) and G protein coupled
receptors (metabotropic receptors). In addition, several drugs can interfere with glutamatergic such as:
Riluzole, N Acetylcysteine (NAC) and Tezampanel.
Synaptic transmission (i.e. the process of information transfer at a synapse) may be accomplished in
two distinguished manners: electrically and chemically. Chemical synapses are the most prevalent
synapses in the human nervous system. Both their synaptic cleft, which is approximately 20 50 nm
wide, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, all these subtypes express a common basic structure, i.e. the presence of four
hydrophobic regions (TM I, TM II, TM III and TM IV), an extracellular N terminus and an
intracellular C terminus (Bristol.ac.uk, 2015). NMDA receptors are formed by two distinctive subunit
families: GluN1 and GluN2. GluN1 is a fundamental component of all NMDA receptors and it binds
to one of the four GluN2 subunits (GluN2A D). This means that NMDA receptors located in different
parts of the brain may have different pharmacological and biological properties and may as well act
differently. Furthermore, in order for the NMDA receptor to fully work it requires glycine (co agonist
in this case) to bind to the GluN1 subunit and glutamate to bind to the GluN2 subunit. On the other
hand, AMPA receptors are formed by subunits of GluA1 4 while kainate receptors are formed by
GluK1 3 and GluK4,5 subunits and are essential for synaptic plasticity (i.e. changing the strength of
synapses, which might be linked to memory and learning). Furthermore, AMPA receptors and kainate
receptors mediate fast excitatory transmission while NMDA, which usually coexist with AMPA
receptors, mediate a slower excitatory transmission (Bristol.ac.uk,

The Role And Role Of The Public Sector In The UK
The public sector is owned and operated by the Government, and exists to provide non profit services
for its citizens (privacysense). The main aim of the public sector is to provide value for money for
taxpayers and other stakeholders defined as the most advantageous combination of cost, quality and
sustainability to meet customer requirements (finance ni.gov.uk). It is essential that management of
public sector organisations realise the importance of providing good quality information, in order to
facilitate effective decision making, efficient performance measurement and provide assurances as to
good value for the taxpayer (nao.org.uk). The public sector in the UK is a significant portion of the
overall economy and includes the delivery of essential services including: National Health Service,
Education, Police, and Military.

the reduction in commodity prices. The segmental margin of this category was lower by 100 bps (one

to defend the company s leadership position in the face of heightened competitive activity. While the
company is the undisputed market leader in this category, it continues to focus on the challenge of

Finding the Perfect Pet
What s wrong with Charlie? Claire asked as she held out her tiny hands with a motionless gold fish in
her palm. I was just playing with Charlie yesterday, but today he won t play. Claire s parents failed to
realize that when their child begged them to buy her a pet, that she knew nothing of how to take care
of a simple gold fish. She didn t understand that fish are not pets to be held or caressed like you would
a kitten. This situation occurs more often than most people think. Whether it is a result of an impulsive
purchase, emotion, or even a stray animal that you came across, many people do not take into
consideration what owning a pet may entail. There is a huge variety of species available, from
tarantulas to genetically altered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if every bad situation cannot be avoided, there are many ways to prevent most. Lastly, after you
have chosen the companion that best suits you, make sure you select a healthy pet. Taking in stray
animals, buying from Craigslist, or a private seller can be troublesome because you may not know the
animal s background. Even if the person selling the pet to you says it is healthy, it may carry a disease,
genetic defect or the seller may just be lying. You want to avoid that situation to help guarantee an
enjoyable experience for both you and your new companion and not take on more problems you aren t
prepared for. If you decide you want to purchase your new friend from a breeder or pet shop, you can
check to see if they are reputable by looking up customer reviews and experiences on the internet.
This will help you to avoid promoting and buying from puppy mills or breeders who do not take care
of the animals. The safest option for both you and the animals is adopting from a shelter or rescue.
They generally take good care of the animals temporarily housed there and may provide insight to the
personality of the pet you are considering. Adopting is a great option as not only are you giving a
homeless creature a better future, but most rescues and shelters are strict with adoption policies to

The Conservation Of Endangered Animals
Endangered Animals
Endangered animals are a species with less than 2500 of that specific kind remaining and if their
population is expected to drop by 50 percent within 10 years (c 15). In other cases some animals are
naturally rare(c 8). Until the mid 20th century, these animals weren t paid too much attention, until the
study of environmental science and ecology took off. At this time conservation groups started coming
up because they noticed these animals were becoming an immediate threat. Unfortunately these
organizations could not do much only campaign against direct killing(c 10). The extinction of these
animals is led by many factors, some of which these conservation groups had no control over such as
natural extinction, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next species that are about to be mentioned are few of many endangered animals and are not any
less or more important than the others. Flatwoods Salamander, scientifically known as Ambystoma
cingulatum. This salamander is small in size ranging from 3.5 to 5 inches in length with a slim body
and a very small head. It has a gray colored pattern on its sides and dorsum and light flecks on the
venter. They can be found beneath logs near cypress ponds, pitcher plant bogs, and swamps. Their
prefered habitat is known to be the slash pine flatwoods. In November is when most of their breeding
takes place where 100 to 200 eggs are laid in small groups under logs near cypress tupelo ponds or
Pond Cypress. They leave those eggs abandoned which later then hatch once the site is flooded by
rain. The adults and larvae diet consist of a wide variety of invertebrates(56). These Flatwoods
Salamander have become endangered due to deforestation, residential or commercial development,
and silviculture which are all destroying their habitats. The harvest of crayfish as bait is harming the
larvae because when the harvesters drag their large hardware cloth buckets through inundated
vegetation they drag along some larvae that are then either collected as bait or left to die(IUCN) Green

Decision Making Of The Workplace
Each and everyone of us go day in and day out making decisions. Some of these decisions that we as
individuals make can impact numerous of aspects of our life. According to authors Robins and Judge
(2009), decision making occurs as a reaction to a problem (Robins Judge 2009, p. 147). It is important
to truly understand the importance of the decisions that we make throughout our everyday life. With
job rotation and the job characteristic model decision making is in the workplace is truly important.
Decision Making in the Workplace As we make decision throughout our day, for most of us we make a

The Importance Of Abstract Alphabet
Picture books can be very influential for younger readers as well as many others. Authors shapes,
colors, and context can create different types of emotions and feelings to be presented. These types of
books appeal to the younger reader because of these types of illustrations can cause the words of the
book come to life. This can be said for the book titled Abstract Alphabet. This book was written and
illustrated by former Caldecott Honor recipient Stephen T. Johnson. It is the perfect picture book for
teaching children the alphabet as well as providing unique and colorful pictures to represent them.
Each picture also provides a unique characteristic that can be appealing for the older reader and the
younger student. Abstract Alphabet is an effective children s picture book because of the color of the
illustrations, the uniqueness of the illustrations, and the text. To begin, the aspect that is of at most
importance in pictures books are clearly the type of illustrations. Effective illustrations set the tone for
the type of book that it will be. To not get misunderstood, the text is essential as well. However when
it comes to young readers, the pictures are what are going to the most impactful. In Abstract Alphabet,
each page provides a colorful visual of the lower and upper case version of each letter. The letters on
each page are also fairly large so it can be easily seen. This is important because this book for children

According to Seamus Deane, Translations is a play about the tragedy of English Imperialism. How far
would you agree with this statement in relation to both Translations and Heart of Darkness?
INTRO
Although the location, language and structure of Brian Friel s
Translations differs unmistakably from that of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the topic of
colonisation remains central to both. While the supposed sophistication of civilised colonists is
deconstructed in Conrad s novella to reveal man s common darkness , Friel s play deals with the ways
in which the consciousness of an entire culture is fractured by the transcription of one landscape

The name not only retells the anecdote which defined Brian s Well , but also evokes Owen s memories
of his grandfather. The Irish place names had developed into historical, cultural and social storehouses
through their varied associations and values. The reduction of such ontological knowledge to an
epistemological referent through colonial dispossession therefore reduces identity in an eviction of
sorts .
The destructive force of English Imperialism is echoed in Conrad s
Heart of Darkness and is revealed to us through Marlow s portrayal of the Africans he encounters and
the treatment they are subject to.
Forced to work under the conditions of European mechanical labour, the natives acquired expressions
of the deathlike indifference of unhappy savages as they became reduced to nothing but black
shadows of disease and starvation . The civilised colonists place the savages in chain gangs, enslaving
them; eliminating their identities and breaking their spirit as a people. Throughout the entire novel we,
the reader do not learn a single of the Africans names. They are collectively labelled niggers ,
creatures , rebels , savages ,
enemies , ants and criminals by the colonisers. Even the individual natives Marlow speaks of remain
unnamed, distant and alien.

The Hymns In Francis Jane Crosby s Life
Francis Jane Crosby, born in Southeast, Putnam County, New York, on 24 March 1820 and passed
away on 12 February 1915, a month shy of her 95th birthday. She is famously known for writing
hymns, she wrote more than 9,000 hymns, and some are still sung to this day. Due to the number of
hymns she wrote, she had to create an alias to avoid having the hymnals being dominated by her
name. Fanny Crosby was able to serve the Lord by writing songs of praise to Him, all this in spite of
her blindness
Crosby became ill within 6 weeks of being born. At the time, their family doctor was away; which,

At the age of thirty one, she accepted Christ to be her personal Lord and Saviour. In a dream, a friend
of hers, who seemed to be close to her death, asked her, Will you meet me in heaven? even though her
friend was in great health. This dream stuck to Fanny, and more importantly the question stuck to her
the most. It was when she and her companions began to sing the hymn At the Cross , did she give her
life to God. After this, she joined the Old John Street Methodist church.
Fanny collaborated with many musicians to put song into her poems. Musicians would come to Fanny
with a song and ask her to give them words. To Reverend Robert Lowry s music, she wrote a well
known hymn All the Way my Saviour Leads Me . Fanny collaborated with Mrs E. L. Knapp twice and
wrote, Nearer the Cross, my Heart can say and Blessed Assurance . When visiting a mission in the
slums of New York, she became sympathetic and felt saddened, this event encouraged her to write the
hymn Rescue the Perishing .

The Captain And The First Mate
With the presence of The Doctor the ship had left the dock, the engines roaring they soared into the
sea of stars, embraced by the goddess of the night herself. The captain and the first mate settled into
their positions on the bridge almost immediately, she at her station in front of the main viewport, he
just a bit behind at the helm. The Doctor was no where to be seen of course, he mightn t even be on
the ship any more. Ruari on the other hand was being a nuisance, in the most endearing of ways; if she

of the raised platform.
Just because she d told him to stop, the captain gave the ecstatic beast an extra enthusiastic scratch.
Ruari s tail was making the first mate s hair look as if it had been in a gale!
Catch! she said as she took something from her pocket and threw it just above the captain s head. Two

Before the captain had time to notice the mischievous glint in her eyes he d already reached up and
grabbed the object. He felt the uneven texture of the treats that Ruari loved in his hand now but it was

The Similarities Between Fahrenheit 451 And Our Society
Introduction:
There are many differences between Fahrenheit 451 and our society. There society is different from
ours in ways like the way they ve been governing themselves, their houses, and mental stability. There
are many similarities as well as differences between our modern day society and the society in
Fahrenheit 451 .
Topic one government: In our society we have government, it may not be anywhere near as strict as
Fahrenheit 451 s government it is still very strict. There similarities are how we have to keep a strict
structure to our society s. he walked out of the fire station and along the midnight street toward the
subway... There society is all about no books and keeping everyone how they want, and our society
keeps us in a nice neat structure that people like to bend and break, unlike 451. In 451, when someone
breaks the book law they get there house put up in flames, while the books went up in sparkling whirls
and blew away on a wind turned dark with burning. (bradbury, 2) That is a difference and a similarity
between our governments.
Topic two their houses: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Raskolnikov Foil
Gentry Hale
Raskolnikov is a proud and intellectual man who believes that he is extraordinary enough to break all
social rules and moral standards if he thinks that it will further humanity. Sonia is a shy and timorous
girl who is a devout Christian and is so dedicated to her family that she is willing to do anything to
help them. Sonia s humility and meekness help Raskolnikov to realize that he may not be as
remarkable as he believes. Fyodor Dostoevsky uses Sonia as a foil towards Raskolnikov, in his novel
Crime and Punishment, because she helps him to overcome his pride and confess to his crime. Sonia

committed. Sonia resorted to prostitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He immediately convinced himself that it was a sign that he must commit the murder the next night.
The use of coincidence and environment as self justification shows that he feels guilty and needs
validation for his crimes. He cannot turn to God like Sonia because he is a selfish man and repenting
means that he must admit to himself that he had done wrong. Instead of feeling disappointment in
himself he will blame his actions on the world around him. Raskolnikov askes Sonia to read him a
passage out of the Bible and she reads him the story of Lazarus. He acts as if he does not believe in the
story, but he is moved by it. The rising of Lazarus from the dead is a parallel to Raskolnikovs
separation from the world. He relates to this story because his pride alienates him from those that love
him. He longs to be like Lazarus and to be reborn, and his pride begins to waiver. When he works up
the humility to confess to Sonia, she offers him a cross. He begins to accept it and then quickly gives
it back. Although he did not take the cross, he considered it. In this instance Raskolnikov was able to
confess to his crime, even if only to Sonia, and he almost accepts her religious offering. She is making

stressed throughout the speech were having heart, sacrifice, and dealing with pain. Although this
speech was attended for the college students at Michigan State University, any person could listen to
this speech and find motivation within them. As a current college student I find this speech very
inspirational and motivating because I was able to relate to it, he was very passionate and emotional,
and he kept it real. The physical audience in attendance for this speech was college students, because
the person who brought in Eric Thomas was a professor at Michigan State University. The context of

A Comparison of Helen in the Iliad and the Odyssey
The Iliad and The Odyssey are tales written by Homer centered on the drama of the Trojan War. First
poem deals with the time during the end of the war, while the latter, which occurs roughly ten years
later, explains the disastrous journey of Odysseus fighting his way back home. The character of
women in the Odyssey is to exhibit the many and diverse roles that women play in the lives of men.
These functions vary from characters such as the goddess that help them to the nymphs who trick
them. Women in the Iliad exhibit their significance in the lives of the ancient Greeks because they are
so prominent in a world so dominated with military relations. Helen of Troy was one of these women.
Like so many women Homer speaks of, her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It becomes aware of Homer s distaste for her because indignity is her central characteristic, and this
coming from a writer we have come to associate with honor. It remains unclear whether or not she was
forced by Aphrodite to go with Paris. If she was not, then it appears that lust and desire was her sole
motivation, leaving her with yet another trait which is unappealing to Homer.
Homer tends to lighten Helen s betrayal somewhat in The Odyssey. Homer wants to assure the reader
that although it is in the past, it will not be entirely forgotten. In this epic she becomes a wife to
Menelaus and not in the literal sense because the two have always been married. Instead, she now
openly admits to him and other guests that her actions were unspeakable and unforgivable, almost to
say that what occurred what unlike her and she actually is a good woman. Also, Menelaus agrees with
her, showing no anger. But Homer lets us know that she is as deceitful and conniving as ever, when
Helen admits to openly celebrating the fall of Troy, cheering while the Trojan women wept for their
husbands. She says The rest of the Trojan women shrilled with their grief. Not I: my heart leapt up my
heart had changed now I yearned to sail back home again (Homer). Thus, Helen goes from being
deceitful to adapting disloyalty.
Homer s dislike for Helen becomes apparent, but only with further examination. In The

An Interesting Software Design Technique
3.3 DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE
An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven
Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as
relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that
the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards the
common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems as
domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts,
emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts, like
entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these
technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to
forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and
using the same common, ubiquitous language.
Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a
domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application
(which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the different
responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application at hand can
probably be a better approach. This will both save

Vegetarians Do Not Eat Meat, And Some People Go As A...
Vegetarians do not eat meat, and some people go as far as to not consume anything that comes from an
animal. There are various reasons that a person may choose to become a vegetarian. Some people
choose to omit meats from their diet due to religious reasons, for their health, or some people just do
not agree with killing animals to be used for food. Whatever the reason may be for a person to adjust
their diet, it is debated whether or not it is healthy for people to limit their diets to being vegetarians.
Many people wonder if omitting all meat products from diets has more of a positive effect or more of
a negative effect on their health. There are many different aspects of this debate some of them being
amount of nutrients needed in our diets, disease preventions, and effects of hormones. There are
various studies that say vegetarianism can lead to deficiencies for different nutrients that our bodies
need. For example, in a vegetarian diet it is very difficult to be able to obtain vitamin B12 as well as
iron. Vitamin B12 can be found abundantly in any animal meat or seafoods. There are also very low
traces of the Vitamin B12 in seaweed or fungi. This explains why vegetarians have a much lower
amount of B12 versus people who do consume meats. Vitamin B12 is important in our diets, because
according to Dr. Duo Li in his article Vegetarians, the Good, the Bad, and the Challenges , he states
that, Vitamin B12 is essential for new cell synthesis, blood formation, maintenance

The Clothing Styles By Christian Dior
Fashion By taking a look at the clothing styles worn by a group of individuals, we can comprehend a
great fragment regarding the prevailing social values of the generation. Polyester was the material of
choice and bright colours were everywhere. Men and women alike, wore tight fitting pants and
platform shoes. Christian Dior In 1947 the French designer Christian Dior dispatched his Corolle line,
a collection re establishing and modifying the square shouldered and straight female figure after the
disruptions of World War II. Dior s revolutionary design became embellished and overvalued,
characterised by dresses featuring delicate shoulders, a vaguely padded bodice, low neckline, a small
waist, and a full skirt flaring out starting the hips and grazing the calves. What was so diverse about
Dior s look was in its abundance the excessive use of luxurious fabrics and time intensive labor. The
overly female form that he presented was created through the use of padded hips and bust lines.

Introduction
Using a Lewis base neutral molecule to donate electron pairs (ligands) to a Lewis acid metal ion
center to form a single cluster (complex) ion. When the complex ions forms with a metal ion
(chelation) the ligand used is called the (chelating agent). EDTA acts as a great chelating agent due to
the Nitrogen and Oxygen donating an electron pair to the metal ion center to form an octahedral
complex. The metal ions especially with a +2 charge or higher are the reason for water hardness to
form on various objects known as scum . Calcium ions are typically the most common contributing

Chapter 4 is also used for titration of redox reactions using a standard solution (Na2 EDTA) to add
into another solution of unknown concentration (unknown sample + ammonia/ammonium chloride
buffer + Eriochrome Black T) until the equivalence point is reached (has fully reacted) as visually
identified by the indicators (Eriochrome Black T) from the color change of pink to violet to blue.
Procedure
1. Prepare about 500mL of approximately 0.004M disodium EDTA solution. To prepare your solution,
weigh out 0.7 0.8g of Na2EDTA and dissolve in about 500mL deionized water in your plastic bottle.
Seal the bottle and shake vigorously for a few minutes to dissolve the salt.
2. Standardize the Na2EDTA solution using a stock calcium ion solution as the primary standard:
a. Use a 10 mL transfer pipet to add 10.00 mL of standardized calcium ion stock solution (1.000g
CaCO3/L solution) to a 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask.
b. Add about 30 ml of deionized water to this titration flask.
c. Add a magnetic stir bar, place on a magnetic stirrer and begin stirring. A piece of white paper under
the flask gives good contrast for easier detection of the indicator color change.
d. Inside the fume hood, add about 3mL of ammonia/ammonium chloride buffer (pH 10). The buffer is
an inhalation irritant. Stir for 30 seconds.
e. Just prior to titrating the flask, add four drops of Eriochrome Black T indicator solution. Continue
stirring for another 30

Analysis Of The New York Times By David Brooks Essay
Argumentative Essay on Supporting Our Students
In an article by The New York Times, by David Brooks, called, Support Our students. Brooks explains
that instead of free college, maybe they should help college students with everyday needs. He said that
college is already free for the working class and underpaid. (Brooks) He doesn t believe that making
community college free will help anymore with the debt, then it did before. In sum, I will discuss the
argument that David Brooks portrays and explain why I agree with it. I will talk about three main
points from Brooks article and discuss what it s like in other countries that do have free college.
In David Brooks article, he mentions that students actually have free college at their disposal. By
using pell grants and scholarships, he believes that we re set. I don t disagree. In my experience, my
scholarship and my pell grant both pay for my school. However, I must have one scholarship to
receive the other and as a student that comes from a poor household, my pell grant covers all of my
college expenses aside from my books. He said it s more beneficial if instead of making college free,
that they should help the students. (Brooks) Such as living expenses, book fees, and transportation.
(Brooks) He mentions how most students have jobs, full or part time. (Brooks) I am lucky enough to
have a free living space on food, but I have a part time job and most of my money goes towards
saving up for my next semester s textbooks

How Did The Norman Invasion Affect The English Language
Toward the close of the Old English period, an event occurred that had the greatest, longer lasting
effect on the English language than any other in history. This event was the Norman Conquest of
1066. The historic victory of William, the Duke of Normandy (hereafter known as William the
Conqueror), at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 proved to be the significant catalyst for the English
people. This is most notably evidenced by the cultural, religious and literary developments in the years
following the Norman Invasion. Before the conquest of England, the language of the country was
what was called Old English or pidgin English. This French/Norman invasion changed Britain s Anglo
Saxon culture and language to one that was more akin to what existed in mainland Europe at the time.
Additionally, the invasion shaped the English language irrevocably; the new French incursion pushed
Old English in the direction of Middle English, a variety more closely resembling what is spoken
today. This change in governance reformed nearly everything else in the country, especially literature.
After the Normans settled in Britain, Latin and French were the only recognized languages in the
Norman court. This resulted in the English language being largely ignored in literature for nearly one
hundred and fifty years. During the next two centuries, after the classical influence of French and
Latin, English literature had been immensely impacted and enriched. When the English language

Vengeance In Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus
During the Elizabethan period, revenge tragedies were the leading form of drama commonly utilized
by Shakespeare, despite the morals of the time renouncing it in essence. Because of the nature of
revenge, it is often said that before embarking on this journey it is best to dig two graves; in Titus
Andronicus, widely considered the bloodiest of Shakespeare s revenge tragedies, this adage connects
perfectly with the theme of the plots. Shakespeare unfolds a series of revenge that the play reads like a
horror film in many ways with overtly gratuitous violence plaguing almost every scene. Involves
violence against each character in the play, Shakespeare communicating his own beliefs about seeking
vengeance. Through various literary techniques,

Comparing Philbrick s View Of Different Authors Contributions
Despite Philip s tremendous experience with selling land to the English, Philbrick unfairly portrays the
king as as an indecisive ruler and poor decision maker. For over a decade the Wampanoag ruler had
been the intermediary for native land sales to English proprietors. As Philbrick explains, any Pilgrim
man wishing to obtain native land was required to make the purchase through the official Plymouth
court, thereby preventing unfair sales (like alcohol for land) that the Indians could later dispute. One
would imagine that in dealing only with the officials, as opposed to the men purchasing the land,
Philip would be granted greater protection from any one of the potential abuses that he could suffer
from. But instead, Philbrick recounts how, by monopolizing the purchase of Indian lands, Plymouth
officials kept the prices they paid artificially low (171). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Philip, who had his own animal herd, would have been aware of the uncontrollable factors that were
also at play, such as the unhappiness which arose when English cows and horses grazed on Indian
corn. Even as he assumed leadership thirteen years before the war, Philip would have been in tune
with the inevitable and growing threat English settlements posed to his people. Yet instead of
attempting to appease the Indians by granting them permission to go on wild, ineffective raids, which
would have only motivated the English, Philip waited until he could gather an effective, armed, multi
tribe force before he waged war. By delaying his response and refusing to allow personal vendettas be
the spark for battle, tactful Philip is inaccurately described by

Examples Of Skepticism In The Truman Show
The Truman Show introduces us to a man named Truman who is living a fake life, a life in which
everything around him has been scripted out by a director of a television show. He was adopted at
birth and raised inside a television studio that was made to resemble the real world. However, Truman
is unaware that he has been the star of a television show since birth and thanks to free will, he
continues to live life as a normal person. Meanwhile, the director, Christof attempts to control every
aspect of Truman s life as if to lead him to take certain actions and to think a certain way.
Like so many other philosophical issues, the problem of skepticism can be traced back as far as the
ancient Greeks. Nevertheless, it was Descartes who placed this ... Show more content on

Given the logical possibility that such a creature exists, how can we be certain that our beliefs about
the world are not radically mistaken? How, Descartes asked, can we be certain that we are all not
utterly deceived? The Truman Show presents a similar skeptical problem, but in the most convincing
of ways. Christof is clearly the evil genius that Descartes described, but whereas Descartes fatal
demon is a creature of pure fantasy, the character of Christof and the conspiracy that he orchestrates
seem dangerously real. In Descartes Second Meditation he says, I suppose, then, that all the things that
I see are false, I persuade myself that nothing has ever existed of all that my fallacious memory
represents to me . In the Truman show, Truman finds himself believing that the world around him is
the real world, however he is being deceived. Would Truman have been better off believing Descartes
words? Descartes attempts to question how he is supposed to understand the world around him as real.
Through thinking and questioning, Descartes knows himself, and his mind to be real. However, he still
has an uncertainty about the world around him. Descartes concludes the Second Meditations by posing
that, because it is

Tigers
Tigers are powerful and adaptable animals. To some they are regarded as a deity. Cubs learn quickly to
become skilled hunters in order to survive. Despite their best efforts they are in danger of extinction.
Since ancient times the tiger has been revered as a deity in legends and myths of Asia. Its name is
synonymous with valour and power. Myths of tigers grew in art and folklore. As a result the tiger s
body parts came to be perceived as cure all remedies among medicine men of the orient. In Korea the

other DVRs in 6.5 million US households, up from 1.9 million in 2002. That number, the firm claims,

popularity of Netflix, an online subscription service boasting 3 million users, prompted both

Odds Against Tomorrow Character Analysis
As each day passes, the events that we encounter enters through each and everyone of our minds and
becomes an assimilation of experiences. Over a long period of time one s past experiences come to
affect how they see newer ones. As each and every experience fills our minds, it creates an expectation
or order in which our judgment causes us to assume or create reason for the future to become a certain
way. This process can be viewed as perspective, perspective influences your actions, emotions, it can
be a complete rulebook for the way a person becomes and acts. In the book Odds Against Tomorrow,
by Nathaniel Rich as we explore the world through the eyes of one character, Mitchelle, we began to
notice a possibly very eccentric perspective on life and chance. Throughout the book we notice other
characters and their views on the same events. This then relays back to previous experiences or life
events that these characters have undergone. Overall through the reading we can notice a theme of
multiple or different perspectives, that fact of which perspectives are right or where these perspectives
come from is determined by the reader. One can simply conclude that because of the past experiences
or events that an individual has encountered throughout their life this then becomes a major deciding
factor in their new perceptive. This perspective can change, as the events that we experience come to
change as well. For example an overflow of optimism may be encountered after one

At the time Charles was designing, there was a new movement: simplifying architecture, making it
practical. This was the modernist movement. The modernist movement was used to create new

just focusing on history like other architects were doing. Mackintosh also inspired European
architecture as a whole after his death. One article discusses Charles influence on Architecture,

Extracting Natural Gas From Shale And Other Rock Formation
Resulting of recent technological innovations improving the ability of extracting natural gas from
shale and other rock formation. The popularity of hydraulic fracturing remains leading in the direction
of new venture opportunities and increasing growth for the natural gas and oil production industry.
With the development, comes risk and scrutiny. According to Robert W. Howarth and Anthony
Ingraffea natural gas extracted from shale comes at too great a cost to the environment, and must be
illegal. Natural gas from shale remains vastly proposed as clean, comparable with oil and coal that can
decrease the outpouring while still satisfying rich fossil fuel over coming decades until a switch to
renewable energy sources exists. However shale gas being clean remains false, and it used as bridge
fuel stays a terrible idea. Shale rock formation can hold large quantities of natural gas, however that
gas remains mostly made up of methane. (Natural Gas:Should fracking stop?) For a long period of
time a majority of this gas was not economically reachable. However over the past decade, two new
technological advancements recently combined allowing extracting of the gas. This process is known
as hydraulic fracturing, in which extremely high pressured water with additional chemicals forced two
to three kilometers in the ground is extracting the gas. The manufacturing sources claim that fracking
has produced over one million natural gas wells since the 1940 s. Only 2% of these wells

purpose of the observation and be focused on it at the time of observing (McAfee Leong, 2007). It is
really important to be very realistic during these observations. Educators have to be aware of their

information and records obtained from people about a child. The primary sources are the child,

based on standardized tests like screening or achievement tests. Informal methods are based on normal

This environment should be composed of physical space, materials, activities, people and the amount
of teachers structure. Some examples of context for assessments are daily routines, dramatic play,
classroom meetings or large groups and learning centers. An educator could base the methods he or

support, a dataset constructed of the amount of monetary support for a candidate, candidate
characteristics, and district characteristics, is needed. The difficulty in the data collection effort is the
small number of minority candidates running in any given year in a general election cycle (Hogan and
Thompson 1998). Extending the timeframe across several years would increase the number of
minority candidates in the dataset, yet, one aspect to consider when evaluating the data is the number
of times the same candidate is in the data set, yet accounting for incumbency and challenger status can
help to indicate if certain candidates are driving the funding support levels. At the federal level, many
elected officials come from safe districts where incumbents have the advantage and are reelected at a
high rate.
The data set is also focusing on congressional elections. Focusing on the federal level helps to fit the
research into the larger literature related to minority campaigns and financial support (Theilman and
Wilhite 1989, 1991; Wilhite 1988, Whilhite and Theilman 1989). Focusing on ... Show more content

The Almanac of American Politics has data on incumbent and challengers for district elections for
each Congress. The variables collected from this data source include the candidate incumbency, open
seat races, and political party affiliation. In addition, leadership positions, vote share, and district
presidential voting history can be collected from the source as well. Furthermore, data from the United
States Census 2010 can provide more information on the district, such as education level and income
level (Albright 2014). Other sources, such as CQ Weekly Report and Politics in America, may need to
be utilized to gain information on candidate quality, previous experience, and competitiveness of the

While Other Areas Crumble, New York City Real Estate...
From my perspective with valid reason; Nyc is really a genuine estate buyers dream be realized.
Yes, although real estate values nationwide are crumbling such as a skydiver without a parachute, the
New York Area real estate market has remained robust, without so muchas a speed bump in the road to
wealth; values in New York City continue to rise to record levels. Traders in this market you live in a
bubble almost untouched by the current market value crisis tearing through areas all around the nation.
Because of this many lenders are desperate to obtain portfolios committed to the New York City
industry to shore up their recent failures. Enhance this the declining dollar which can be helping

Programs requiring less documentation or no income verification have taken popular and are seldom
for sale in today s marketplace. The infamous 80 20 mortgage has gone the way in which of the
dinosaur, and 100% funding is nearly something of the past.
One could be well advised to have the assistance of the trustworthy Mortgage Advisor, though you
may still find many economic options available for a qualified consumers. Many individuals are under
the mistaken perception that the process requires them to first establish a property to purchase, then go
about locating a mortgage. When trying to find real estate in New York nothing could possibly be
further from fact. Sensible monetary sense would dictate that a buyer / debtor must first examine what
they are able to afford before setting out to look for a property to purchase. Provided that you re armed
with the total knowledge of the nature of the monetary responsibility you are undertaking can you
really be prepared to step in with both feet.
It s crucial that you get honest and capable mortgage assistance from professional mortgage firms or
brokers, specifically in New York City where high property prices may have a great influence on
mortgage rates. To summarize, the property growth in New York chockfull of investment prospects,
and continues to be alive and well.

How Does Sheila Change In An Inspector Calls
Sheila is the most influential and pivotal character of the play An Inspector Calls . Sheila shows how
and to what degree a person or people in society can change and how it can affect people around each
other and the world. We are introduced to the Birling family just as they are all celebrating Sheila s
engagement to Gerald, son of Lord Croft. Sheila is initially presented an excitable girl in her early
twenties, ignorant, self centred and rather pleased with life . One could concur that Sheila is originally
a materialistic person as she seems to take a deep interest in the engagement ring Gerald has presented
her as she seems to lose all interest in conversation, afterwards declaring that she was listening . This
trait reflects that of her father at family table, it is clear Mr Birling is not just celebrating the happiest
night, of his life because of Sheila s supposed love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He makes many references to the benefits of business due to the partnership between the Birling s and
the Crofts as it means lower costs and higher prices, . When the Inspector first enters, he reveals the
horrid suicide of a girl named Eva Smith who killed herself by drinking disinfectant . Although this
method of suicide is truly horrid or any suicide at all for that matter, Sheila s initial reaction is very
dismissive, she simply responds to the inspector: I wish you hadn t told me, giving the reader the
impression that she is ignorant and uncultivated. However later she insists that Birling s staff are not
just workers and they re people . This remark shows a dramatic change in Sheila s behaviour as she is
presented to be very compliant by her Fathers rules, Sheila will you give the men a moment , (not
actual quote!) this shows that she Is becoming more rebellious perhaps and trying to show that she is
not dominated by patriarchy. Priestly purposefully

Precious Movie Sociology
The film Preciouses tell the story of a young girl that faces struggles that many fine hard to believe.
Precious is a teenager that not only lives in poverty but also has been through physical, mental and
sexual abuse. Throughout the film we are introduced to Precious, wanting to escape from her life.
Wanting to be someone else, anyone else just not her self. Precious had always had it hard in her life,
she was never shown anything besides cruelty, hatred and has suffered a tormentors amount of pain.
This essay will show how, gender, race and class had a major impact on why Precious, had to face so
many hardships starting from when she was just an infant. Preciouses being a woman has, had a major
impact in her life. Precious, was raped by her father multiple times and she, does get pregnant by him.
Even though Preciouses abuse started when she was just a small child no one cared nor took the time
to see what was happening in her life, like most rape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In one particular scene Precious is looking in the mirror while fixing her hair and what she sees
looking back at her is a white woman. In the media black women are underrepresented and it is very
difficult for little black girls too look at a move or show and find someone that looks the way they do.
Even when African American Women are put in magazines their skin tone is often made lighter than it
actually is . In the movie Precious is constantly obsessed with wanting a light skinned boy friend or a
white guy because her surroundings and American society in general has never truly labeled the idea
of being black as being beautiful or even just attractive. Being African American alone left Precious
with many disadvantages since the day she was born. American Americans are more likely than
another race to live in poverty and not have access to education and things like birth control and

Sociological Imagination Report
Ikea Hicks
September 12, 2015
Professor Goldberg
Introduction to Sociology
Sociological Imagination In order to understand the term social imagination, it is important to identify
what Sociology is and what do sociologists study. Sociology is the study of society and a sociologist is
a person who studies society. But, what is a society? Society is you! Our families, our friends, our co
workers are also considered a society as well. Sociologists are always trying to understand how
individual s behaviors are influenced by the social world. For instance, C. Wright Mills, a famous
American sociologist, introduced the concept sociological imagination. According to C. Wright Mills,
sociological imagination is the method to looking at things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
As stated earlier, sociological imagination allows us to get out of our own mind with regard to how we
think about social issues and allows us to step into other person s shoes to see things from their
perspectives. For instance, I used sociological imagination to overcome my challenges because I am
putting myself in another person point of view about why my problems exist. Remember earlier when
I said, we think that problems are individual problems that are not social problems. Nevertheless, here
is an example. When my professor asks the students how many of them are struggling to make end
meet, a lot of them raise their hands including me. When you think about why they are struggling to
make ends meet, you think that the person is not working hard enough or they need to have a tighter
budget. You are constantly pointing your fingers to the individual. But, what is a social problem?
What if the problem is out of their control? C. Wright Mills want us to get out of our own mindset and
look at their situation from their perspective, which deals with the sociological imagination. Therefore,
sociological imagination wants us to try and understand their situation about struggling. It gets you out
of the notion of a fixed mindset that the individuals created the problem but allows us to look at the
situation as a social problem. For

Kim Kardashian Analysis
From the start, people have said , you know we have the right to edit and to approve all footage, said
Kim Kardashian about Keeping up with the Kardashians , a show that started in October in the year of
2007. Based on this quote from Kim Kardashian, I think that the show is not real. In addition to this
opinion, I think this show is bad because it only shows what the family wants people to see and not the
real version of them. Keeping up with the Kardashians is negatively affecting teens around the U.S by
showing girls that they need to fix themselves to seem beautiful to others. Due to the fact that people,
especially girls, watch this particular program, influences girls on how to act and how to make them
feel beautiful. As you

Ancient Works of Art in Fred Kleiner’s Gardner’s Art...
In Fred Kleiner s Gardner s Art Through the Ages, he has listed some of the oldest and most ancient
works of art discovered from different archeological site, which were later transferred to various
museums. As we delve deeper into the chapters, we discover how art forms evolve across different
time lines from the art of the Paleolithic period to the arts of the near East and Egypt. The works of art
across the different timelines also indicate the kind of culture people have, because such culture can be
seen in how they present their arts. Therefore, there is a clear development that is happening back
then, because of the evolution of the arts and the presentation of the artists based on their culture.
Taking everything into consideration, this project aims to discuss how arts develop throughout the
different timelines the Paleolithic period and the Ancient near East and Egypt and how such art forms
present the cultural context of the artists.
Paleolithic cave painting Historically, it is always argued that the cave paintings during the Paleolithic
period are one of the oldest recorded pieces of art. These include the hand imprints and spotted horses
cave painting in Peche Merle, France, the Halls of Bulls wall painting in Lascaux, France and the
animal paintings in the Chauvet cave. While they are located in different locations, there are some
common traits in these paintings. First, the cave paintings estimated to be between 13,000 and 15,000
years old, which means

Evil In The Consolation Of Philosophy By Boethius
When I think of the concept of evil, I think of The Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius. In The
Consolation of Philosophy, Lady Philosophy stated:
It is enough to have understood only that God, the Creator of all things in nature, also governs all
things, directing them to good. And, since He carefully preserves everything which He made in his
own likeness, He excludes by fatal necessity all evil from the bounds of his state. Therefore, if you fix
your attention to Providence as the governor of all things, you will find that the evil which is thought
to abound in the world is really nonexistent. Book 4; Prose 6
Lady Philosophy is stating that evil does not actually exist, and God would not create evil because it is
unnatural. Rather, evil people seek happiness in misguided ways. Therefore, evil is actually confusion.
This ties well with Descartes explanation of why we error. Descartes states that humans make
mistakes because we exist between God and nothingness. We have the ability to make mistakes
because we are not perfect like God, we participate in nothingness, and use our free will. This could
be used to argue for the why there is evil. God did not create evilness, and humans do not seek to be
evil. We perceive people to be evil because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the choices we make, using our free will, lead to suffering. We participate in risky behavior,
without thinking of the consequences. For example, people that smoke have greater chances of
developing health problem (e.g., cancer), which results in pain and suffering. This type of suffering is
caused by our errors and mistakes. Many of the choice we make have consequences, but is it is
impossible to live in a way in which we do not take risks. Furthermore, God s existence comes from
intellect and not the sense, but suffering is felt through through our senses, whether it be external or
internal pain. Suffering is adventitious and not

  • 2. Jacey Observation I recently had the opportunity to observe a 33 month old boy named Jacey in our church nursery. On this particular Sunday we had several families unable to attend worship service due to a nasty virus that has been going through our community, so Jacey was the only child in the nursery during my observation. I quickly learned that this little guy is full of energy and excitement, and also a little bit of attitude, with sticky fingers and rosy cheeks! It was clear to see that he is an adventure seeker as he explored his surroundings with eyes that appeared to be thoughtful as his curious little mind absorbed every single inflection of the words spoken by those who interacted with him and all of this is what I observed within just the first five minutes of my time spent with Jacey. Over the course of the hour there would be squeals of joy, rambunctious play, silly faces made, as well as times of crossed arms and feet stomping in frustration. Life as a two ... He simply observed her at first, as she suggested different ways to build and play with the blocks, using the method of guided participation (Martorell, et al., 2014) to help Jacey feel comfortable and really settle in and begin to play. Eventually, Jacey did begin to play alongside her, building different designs with the blocks. This type of play, with building patterns and intention, is what our text book would call constructive play (Martorell, et al., 2014). As Jacey played, his excitement grew over what he was creating and every now and then he would speak to his caregiver and show her what he was doing. His sentences followed the rules for syntax speech as he put together sentences that made sense (Martorell, et al., 2014). Not to be too committed with his attention, Jacey would randomly get up and run about the room he definitely had too much energy to sit still very long and just play with ... • 3. Glutamate Receptors In glutamatergic synapses the neurotransmitter glutamate transmits nerve impulses. Glutamate is the prevalent excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS). It can act on two distinguished receptors: ligand gated ion channels (ionotropic receptors) and G protein coupled receptors (metabotropic receptors). In addition, several drugs can interfere with glutamatergic such as: Riluzole, N Acetylcysteine (NAC) and Tezampanel. Synaptic transmission (i.e. the process of information transfer at a synapse) may be accomplished in two distinguished manners: electrically and chemically. Chemical synapses are the most prevalent synapses in the human nervous system. Both their synaptic cleft, which is approximately 20 50 nm wide, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, all these subtypes express a common basic structure, i.e. the presence of four hydrophobic regions (TM I, TM II, TM III and TM IV), an extracellular N terminus and an intracellular C terminus (Bristol.ac.uk, 2015). NMDA receptors are formed by two distinctive subunit families: GluN1 and GluN2. GluN1 is a fundamental component of all NMDA receptors and it binds to one of the four GluN2 subunits (GluN2A D). This means that NMDA receptors located in different parts of the brain may have different pharmacological and biological properties and may as well act differently. Furthermore, in order for the NMDA receptor to fully work it requires glycine (co agonist in this case) to bind to the GluN1 subunit and glutamate to bind to the GluN2 subunit. On the other hand, AMPA receptors are formed by subunits of GluA1 4 while kainate receptors are formed by GluK1 3 and GluK4,5 subunits and are essential for synaptic plasticity (i.e. changing the strength of synapses, which might be linked to memory and learning). Furthermore, AMPA receptors and kainate receptors mediate fast excitatory transmission while NMDA, which usually coexist with AMPA receptors, mediate a slower excitatory transmission (Bristol.ac.uk, ... How far would you agree with this statement in relation to both Translations and Heart of Darkness? INTRO Although the location, language and structure of Brian Friel s Translations differs unmistakably from that of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the topic of colonisation remains central to both. While the supposed sophistication of civilised colonists is deconstructed in Conrad s novella to reveal man s common darkness , Friel s play deals with the ways in which the consciousness of an entire culture is fractured by the transcription of one landscape (Gaelic, classical and traditional) for another (Anglo Saxon, progressive and ... The destructive force of English Imperialism is echoed in Conrad s Heart of Darkness and is revealed to us through Marlow s portrayal of the Africans he encounters and the treatment they are subject to. Forced to work under the conditions of European mechanical labour, the natives acquired expressions of the deathlike indifference of unhappy savages as they became reduced to nothing but black shadows of disease and starvation . The civilised colonists place the savages in chain gangs, enslaving them; eliminating their identities and breaking their spirit as a people. The character of women in the Odyssey is to exhibit the many and diverse roles that women play in the lives of men. These functions vary from characters such as the goddess that help them to the nymphs who trick them. In this epic she becomes a wife to Menelaus and not in the literal sense because the two have always been married. Instead, she now openly admits to him and other guests that her actions were unspeakable and unforgivable, almost to say that what occurred what unlike her and she actually is a good woman. Also, Menelaus agrees with her, showing no anger. But Homer lets us know that she is as deceitful and conniving as ever, when Helen admits to openly celebrating the fall of Troy, cheering while the Trojan women wept for their husbands. She says The rest of the Trojan women shrilled with their grief. Not I: my heart leapt up my heart had changed now I yearned to sail back home again (Homer). Thus, Helen goes from being deceitful to adapting disloyalty. Homer s dislike for Helen becomes apparent, but only with further examination. In The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. An Interesting Software Design Technique 3.3 DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards the common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems as domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts, emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts, like entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and using the same common, ubiquitous language. Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application (which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the different responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application at hand can probably be a better approach. This will both save ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are various reasons that a person may choose to become a vegetarian. Some people choose to omit meats from their diet due to religious reasons, for their health, or some people just do not agree with killing animals to be used for food. Whatever the reason may be for a person to adjust their diet, it is debated whether or not it is healthy for people to limit their diets to being vegetarians. Many people wonder if omitting all meat products from diets has more of a positive effect or more of a negative effect on their health. There are many different aspects of this debate some of them being amount of nutrients needed in our diets, disease preventions, and effects of hormones. There are various studies that say vegetarianism can lead to deficiencies for different nutrients that our bodies need. For example, in a vegetarian diet it is very difficult to be able to obtain vitamin B12 as well as iron. Vitamin B12 can be found abundantly in any animal meat or seafoods. There are also very low traces of the Vitamin B12 in seaweed or fungi. This explains why vegetarians have a much lower amount of B12 versus people who do consume meats. Vitamin B12 is important in our diets, because according to Dr. Duo Li in his article Vegetarians, the Good, the Bad, and the Challenges , he states that, Vitamin B12 is essential for new cell synthesis, blood formation, maintenance ... What was so diverse about Dior s look was in its abundance the excessive use of luxurious fabrics and time intensive labor. • 24. How Did The Norman Invasion Affect The English Language Toward the close of the Old English period, an event occurred that had the greatest, longer lasting effect on the English language than any other in history. This event was the Norman Conquest of 1066. The historic victory of William, the Duke of Normandy (hereafter known as William the Conqueror), at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 proved to be the significant catalyst for the English people. This is most notably evidenced by the cultural, religious and literary developments in the years following the Norman Invasion. Before the conquest of England, the language of the country was what was called Old English or pidgin English. This French/Norman invasion changed Britain s Anglo Saxon culture and language to one that was more akin to what existed in mainland Europe at the time. Additionally, the invasion shaped the English language irrevocably; the new French incursion pushed Old English in the direction of Middle English, a variety more closely resembling what is spoken today. This change in governance reformed nearly everything else in the country, especially literature. After the Normans settled in Britain, Latin and French were the only recognized languages in the Norman court. This resulted in the English language being largely ignored in literature for nearly one hundred and fifty years. During the next two centuries, after the classical influence of French and Latin, English literature had been immensely impacted and enriched. When the English language ... Comparing Philbrick s View Of Different Authors Contributions Despite Philip s tremendous experience with selling land to the English, Philbrick unfairly portrays the king as as an indecisive ruler and poor decision maker. For over a decade the Wampanoag ruler had been the intermediary for native land sales to English proprietors. As Philbrick explains, any Pilgrim man wishing to obtain native land was required to make the purchase through the official Plymouth court, thereby preventing unfair sales (like alcohol for land) that the Indians could later dispute. One would imagine that in dealing only with the officials, as opposed to the men purchasing the land, Philip would be granted greater protection from any one of the potential abuses that he could suffer from. Over a long period of time one s past experiences come to affect how they see newer ones. As each and every experience fills our minds, it creates an expectation or order in which our judgment causes us to assume or create reason for the future to become a certain way. This process can be viewed as perspective, perspective influences your actions, emotions, it can be a complete rulebook for the way a person becomes and acts. In the book Odds Against Tomorrow, by Nathaniel Rich as we explore the world through the eyes of one character, Mitchelle, we began to notice a possibly very eccentric perspective on life and chance. Throughout the book we notice other characters and their views on the same events. This then relays back to previous experiences or life events that these characters have undergone. Overall through the reading we can notice a theme of multiple or different perspectives, that fact of which perspectives are right or where these perspectives come from is determined by the reader. One can simply conclude that because of the past experiences or events that an individual has encountered throughout their life this then becomes a major deciding factor in their new perceptive. This perspective can change, as the events that we experience come to change as well. For example an overflow of optimism may be encountered after one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The popularity of hydraulic fracturing remains leading in the direction of new venture opportunities and increasing growth for the natural gas and oil production industry. With the development, comes risk and scrutiny. According to Robert W. Howarth and Anthony Ingraffea natural gas extracted from shale comes at too great a cost to the environment, and must be illegal. Natural gas from shale remains vastly proposed as clean, comparable with oil and coal that can decrease the outpouring while still satisfying rich fossil fuel over coming decades until a switch to renewable energy sources exists. Shale rock formation can hold large quantities of natural gas, however that gas remains mostly made up of methane. (Natural Gas:Should fracking stop?) • 41. Minority Candidates Advantages And Disadvantages To evaluate the question as to whether minority candidates are disadvantaged in campaign funding support, a dataset constructed of the amount of monetary support for a candidate, candidate characteristics, and district characteristics, is needed. The difficulty in the data collection effort is the small number of minority candidates running in any given year in a general election cycle (Hogan and Thompson 1998). Extending the timeframe across several years would increase the number of minority candidates in the dataset, yet, one aspect to consider when evaluating the data is the number of times the same candidate is in the data set, yet accounting for incumbency and challenger status can help to indicate if certain candidates are driving the funding support levels. At the federal level, many elected officials come from safe districts where incumbents have the advantage and are reelected at a high rate. The data set is also focusing on congressional elections. Focusing on the federal level helps to fit the research into the larger literature related to minority campaigns and financial support (Theilman and Wilhite 1989, 1991; Wilhite 1988, Whilhite and Theilman 1989). Sociological Imagination Report Ikea Hicks September 12, 2015 Professor Goldberg Introduction to Sociology Sociological Imagination In order to understand the term social imagination, it is important to identify what Sociology is and what do sociologists study. Sociology is the study of society and a sociologist is a person who studies society. But, what is a society? Society is you! Our families, our friends, our co workers are also considered a society as well. Sociologists are always trying to understand how individual s behaviors are influenced by the social world. For instance, C. Wright Mills, a famous American sociologist, introduced the concept sociological imagination. According to C. Wright Mills, sociological imagination is the method to looking at things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated earlier, sociological imagination allows us to get out of our own mind with regard to how we think about social issues and allows us to step into other person s shoes to see things from their perspectives. For instance, I used sociological imagination to overcome my challenges because I am putting myself in another person point of view about why my problems exist. Remember earlier when I said, we think that problems are individual problems that are not social problems. Nevertheless, here is an example. When my professor asks the students how many of them are struggling to make end meet, a lot of them raise their hands including me. When you think about why they are struggling to make ends meet, you think that the person is not working hard enough or they need to have a tighter budget. You are constantly pointing your fingers to the individual. But, what is a social problem? What if the problem is out of their control? C. Wright Mills want us to get out of our own mindset and look at their situation from their perspective, which deals with the sociological imagination. Therefore, sociological imagination wants us to try and understand their situation about struggling. It gets you out of the notion of a fixed mindset that the individuals created the problem but allows us to look at the situation as a social problem. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Based on this quote from Kim Kardashian, I think that the show is not real. In addition to this opinion, I think this show is bad because it only shows what the family wants people to see and not the real version of them. Keeping up with the Kardashians is negatively affecting teens around the U.S by showing girls that they need to fix themselves to seem beautiful to others. • 48. Evil In The Consolation Of Philosophy By Boethius When I think of the concept of evil, I think of The Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius. In The Consolation of Philosophy, Lady Philosophy stated: It is enough to have understood only that God, the Creator of all things in nature, also governs all things, directing them to good. And, since He carefully preserves everything which He made in his own likeness, He excludes by fatal necessity all evil from the bounds of his state. Therefore, if you fix your attention to Providence as the governor of all things, you will find that the evil which is thought to abound in the world is really nonexistent. Book 4; Prose 6 Lady Philosophy is stating that evil does not actually exist, and God would not create evil because it is unnatural. Rather, evil people seek happiness in misguided ways. Therefore, evil is actually confusion. This ties well with Descartes explanation of why we error. Descartes states that humans make mistakes because we exist between God and nothingness. We have the ability to make mistakes because we are not perfect like God, we participate in nothingness, and use our free will. This could be used to argue for the why there is evil. God did not create evilness, and humans do not seek to be evil. We perceive people to be evil because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
