The Importance Of The Sinaloa Cartel In Mexico
As a child when my mother would travel to Mexico there was always minimal extortion, mordidas
from the judiciales when crossing the boarders. The country seemed relatively safe at the time. The
mordidas was a common incident for people who would travel from the United States to their home
towns. My mother said that it was uncommon to hear about drugs, massacre, and executions.
Nowadays, this is the new norm in Mexico.
In general there is an overwhelming negative feeling towards the government. In their article,
Crime and Drug Cartels Top Concerns in Mexico , Pew Research, a world survey report website,
stated that, 45% of Mexicans say their government is making progress, while 29% say the
government is losing ground, and 25% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Prevalence of Racial Tension Around the World
Today, there is racial tension all around the world. Racial tension means the feeling that exists when
people do not trust and be aggressive to each other. In Malaysia, racial tension has deepened
recently. The Indian government has released an advisory for its foreign students that studying in
Australia which showed that racial tension appeared around the White and Indian. Racial tension
between the Han and Uighur communities in Xinjiang, Chinawas enhanced in July 2009. There are
several factors that cause racial tension to happen such as religion topic, government policy,
prejudice and discrimination. Racial tension could be caused by prejudice and discrimination.

People from different regions and countries may hold different religions. In some countries,
some religions are mostly held by certain races. Most of people have religion when these is a
small amount of people are free thinkers. Basically, people s behaviour and mind are affected by
religion. Meanwhile, religion is their spiritual sustenance. To them, their religions are together
with them as a part of the body. Therefore, any criticism to religion is a threat to certain races.
They will be very supportive and oppose those who cross them. Normally, people won t criticise
their own religion and attack religious sites. Once these happen, they will think that these are done
by people who held other religions. If the religion is mostly held by certain race, they tend to have a
thought that other races are the culprits. The racial tension is ensured once again as it is true that
they can t tolerate with each other will cause serious racial tension. They will react violently to

60 percent of the population which are mostly Malays are Muslims (Eileen Ng, 2010). According

Hazel Grace s Fault In Our Stars
So far in the book Fault In Our Stars a 17 year old girl named Hazel Grace, has cancer. She was

book is probably An Imperial Affliction Hazel told Augustus on page 34. He held up the book,
which was called The Price of Dawn Hazel said talking about Augustus telling her a book made
after his favorite video game. I decided to choose this part of the book to annotate because I

While we refluxed the solution there was no color change, the solution stayed clear. After
gravity filtration the solution stayed clear. After roto vap, solution was a milky brown color. IR
spec data showed a weak OH peak as well as strong C O stretches around 1200 cm 1. V.
Discussion Questions: 1. Our percent yield for alcohol was 84.2% which is average. We rushed
through our vacuum filtration and probably did not let the solid dry long enough and might
have not transferred all of the solid to the vacuum filtration from the beaker. 2. The TLC results
showed two different spots that traveled different distances on the TLC plate, one for ethyl
vanillin and one for ethyl vanillin alcohol which proves there is no evidence of the starting
material in our final product. The product (ethyl vanillin alcohol) was more polar and interacted
more with the solvent than our starting material (ethyl vanillin). This increase in polarity is due
to the extra alcohol group in the ethyl vanillin alcohol and the smaller Rf value also indicates it
is more polar and pure than the ethyl vanillin. 3. The IR spectrum of the starting material shows
a medium/strong C O bond at around 1500cm 1, also the starting material shows a strong C H
bond at around 3000cm 1 and another medium C H bond at 2865cm 1 indicating an aldehyde

Kurtz s Affect on Other Characters in Heart of Darkness ...
We are always taught to appreciate the little things in life; the things that don t seem to have
much of significance at first but end up meaning the world to us. These small things have a value
so great but so hidden that they are usually taken a granted for. In The Heart of Darkness by
Joseph Conrad, there are a few characters that aren t present in the book for a large amount of time
but have a great affect on the story. Kurtzis one of these characters. Kurtz is introduced towards the
end of the story but he has an affect on the action, the theme and the other characters development
even when he isn t present. Kurtz is a power hungry man who achieved his power by getting into
the ivory business and using shady techniques. He also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darkness is a major theme in The Heart of Darkness. Kurtz is unaware of his own darkness which
leads to his downfall. He cannot see what kind of person he has become and how the darkness of
the jungle has completely taken over him. The jungle is so secluded and mysterious that it
actually influences Kurtz s bad behavior. Kurtz becomes greedy and powerful but never realizes
that this behavior is bringing him down until he is on the verge of death. Kurtz last words, The
horror! The horror! (63) show Kurtz s realization that the darkness had consumed him. Kurtz
himself is one of the biggest examples of darkness in this book. The final thing Kurtz had an
affect on was the other characters development; specifically Marlow s. Marlow spent his journey
on the Congo listening to so many stories about Kurtz that he becomes obsessed with meeting him.
At one point in the story, Marlow finds out there is a possibility that Kurtz is dead and he admits
that, For the moment that was the dominant thought. There was a sense of extreme disappointment,
as though I had found out I had been striving after something altogether without a substance (41).
When Marlow finally meets Kurtz he is a little disappointed. He finds out that Kurtz actually isn t
as amazing as he expected. Marlow is thrown a back but doesn t give up complete hope. When
Kurtz dies, and says his final words, Marlow realizes that

Those with insecure attachments tend to have lower relationship satisfaction compared to those
who are securely attached. Those who have a secure attachment style provide a caregiving role,
their behaviors are responsive and sensitive, non controlling and show interest during interactions.
Secures are affectionate with touch, enjoy physical contact (intimate sexual) and are willing to ask
for support. Individuals with an insecure anxious attachment are more self focused and always
looking for approval and support from their partner regardless of low and high stress situations.
Anxious attachment individuals are also over caring and hyper vigilant. Lastly, individuals with an
avoidant attachment value independence and have low levels of self disclosure. Avoidant
individuals are less likely to use touch to express affection and are uncomfortable with intimate
sexual contact. In short, being aware of your attachment style and your partners can shed light on

Parathyroid Carcinoma Research Paper
Abstract
Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare form of endocrine malignancy accounting for only a small minority
of cancer cases. Due to the rarity of this cancer, there are no generalized guidelines for its
management; however, surgery remains to be the mainstay therapy. The purpose of this article is to
review and summarize the available literature on parathyroid carcinoma, while discussing proposed
staging systems and the role of available adjuvant therapies.

Introduction
Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare endocrine malignancy, accounting for an estimated 0.005% of all
cancers [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] and [6]. This entity was first described by the Swiss surgeon Fritz De

Nevertheless, it should be assumed that the postoperative follow up for patients with parathyroid
carcinomas should be more frequent than for those with adenomas. Recurrence is generally
indicated by elevated calcium and PTH levels [14] and [76]. After laboratory findings indicate
recurrence, a thorough imaging work up should be performed with the intention of localizing the
site of recurrence. These imaging modalities include ultrasound, whole body sestamibi scan,
whole body CT, MRI or PET scan and bone scan. In case of inconclusive results from the above
mentioned studies, more invasive techniques may be utilized including arteriography or selective
venous sampling with measurement of PTH [2], [5], [7] and [60]. Furthermore, unlike in the
primary diagnosis where FNA is avoided, the use of FNA to diagnose recurrence of parathyroid
carcinoma is utilized, and can help differentiate between recurrent malignancy and scar tissue [21].
Once recurrent disease has been localized, the best possible treatment is repeated surgical
resection, due to lack of other effective treatments. Re explorations may be very difficult due to
dense scar tissue and lack of clear anatomical planes

Underage Drinking Persuasive Speech
If you were ever given the chance to drink underage, or even do illegal drugs, would you take the
chance? Would you partake in underage drinking at a party and do illegal drugs despite the
consequences that would follow? As many of us know, alcohol and drug usage is prevalent
among teens, especially in students among Mason City High School. When interviewing
Officer Trask, who has worked for the Mason City Police Department for thirteen years, it is safe
to say that one must be willing to sacrifice one s freedom if they decide to partake in such
activities. If you are under the age of 21 for drinking, you are considered a juvenile under law for
alcohol consumption. For a Juvenile, your BAC, which stands for blood alcohol consumption,
cannot surpass the limit of 0.02. However if you are the age of 21, then the BAC of 0.08 would
be acceptable. If it occurs that you have been drinking and driving and exceed the limit of your age

Officers also have the right to search a house for usage of illegal drugs and alcohol under
probable cause if the situation is right for it without a search warrant. If you happen to be the
designated driver, you are not committing a crime by taking a friend safe home, but if pulled over,

The Balanced Scorecard System
Balanced Scorecard System (BSC) is a strategic management concept introduced by Robert Kaplan
and David Norton in the early 1990s. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) contains both financial and
operational measures on customer satisfaction, internal processes, and innovation and
organizational improvement activities (Kaplan, Norton, 1992).
For managers, BSC identify a comprehensive vision of their company s strategic objectives and a
set of measures to improve the its strategic performance. The BSC is either a complex management
tool (Ahn, 2001) or a strategic management tool (Hueng, 2000; Pforsich, 2005). BSC s specialized
articles analyze and promote the Balanced Scorecard as a performance measurement tool, as a
performance management system, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The above mentioned strategic scheme should communicate how to create value for the company,
respectively, progressively present the logical link between the strategic objectives (presented as
schema ovals) in the form of a cause effect chain. Generally speaking, improving performance in the
found goals, from the perspective of Organizational Capacity (bottom row), allows the organization
to improve the Goals from the perspective of Internal Processes (the next line up), which in turn
allows the organization to create desired outcomes Clients and Finance (the first two lines).
However, BSC, as initially introduced by Kaplan and Norton, has some weaknesses with some of its
main hypotheses and relationships highlighted by many authors in the literature. Norreklit states
that there is no causality, but rather a logical relationship between the strategic perspectives
analyzed. Moreover, the BSC is not a representative tool of strategic management because it does
not take into account any link between the organization and competition. Consequently, a
discrepancy should be allowed between the company s ongoing strategy and the assumed

first being the editor s information. The editor s information will cover education, any positions
they hold today, and whatever scholarship information that is currently available. The second
thing that will be reviewed will be a concise summary of the major theme of the book followed by
the third, an honest and courteous evaluation of the book. The fourth thing that will be added is a

Maximilien Robespierre, Gandhi, And The Reign Of Terror
The French Revolution and Indian Revolution were important events that changed the course of
history. The influence between these two revolutions was mainly because of the leaders behind it
all; Maximilien Robespierre and Mahatmas Gandhi. Maximilien Robespierre was the most
influential person during the French Revolution. Robespierre came into power during the Reign of
Terrorand he executed many who he thought were against the revolution which lead him to be

way these two men were similar but when it came to accomplishing the goal they set out for
their country, their ways were very different. Robespierre set out to get equal rights with
violence and threats. He would hang anyone who was against the revolution, but not only that,
Robespierre craved the power and attention he was getting as the known leader of the French
Revolution. He went so far as setting a law saying no one was to have a religion and said himself
to be God. Gandhi however, handled his situation in a completely different manner. He
continuously persisted on having a non violent protest against the British, saying it would only
cause more lives to be lost. Gandhi also wanted Hindus and Muslims to put their differences aside
and see how they are alike and how they worship the same God. Although Robespierre and Gandhi
had goals to change their nations, both did not succeed in doing so; France is still ruled by a

The Birth Control Pill
According to the Oxford American College Dictionary, power is the capacity or ability to direct
or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. In order to gain the most power
humanly possibly you do not have to be remembered, your action needs to be remembered. Power
is the ability to help others benefit out of an action. If given the opportunity to go back in time to
irrevocably alter the future, I would take the opportunity to invent the birth controlpill in advance of
time. During World War II U.S. soldiers were supplied with condoms, another way of birth

Although the idea of this pill was before World War II, the pill was made available to the public
in 1960. If those using condoms were aware of the stronger ability the pill had over the condom,
the pill would have all power. Condom selling companies would try to overpower us with their
promotion during World War II but to prevent that we would use propaganda and allow the public
to see statics of being impregnated using these two methods. Although the FDA or allied soldiers
would want to ban this pill, mass pills would be made and distributed to all locals.
Some benefits of providing women with the pill would be less suffrage of children of unplanned

The Awakening Of Austria
The world of the early 20th century was a brewing cesspit of nationalism and militarism coupled
with isolationism and web of alliances. One might have noted if they lived at such a t time that
war was inevitable, but no one was quite sure how such a conflict could arise after many of the
world powers had consolidated in military alliances with each other. The ultimate irony of this
mindset is that the alliances that were meant to bring about endless peace, would lead to the
greatest war ever seen on the face of the earth. The forging of these alliances divided the prewar
world powers in half, which only heightened any instances of conflict between each side. The

between the Dual Monarchy and the Servian kingdom is only an incident in the greater struggle
between German civilization as represented by Austria Hungary, and Russian aspirations as
represented by Servia, the Russian outpost on the southern frontier of the Dual Monarchy. This is
almost the inverse of how many people perceive the conflict and places the blame on Germany
and Russia aside from the Serbs and the Austrians. Again, this is probably because of his direct
bias of being a representative for the government that should be deemed the aggressor passing
blame to the other actors, claiming them to be the aggressor. This a classic move in a heated

Effects Training Has on Muscle Cell Hypertrophy
As discussed in paper one, readers can see the complexity that lies behind muscle fibers and the
contractile units that make up each muscle cell. At the normal physiology level, muscle fibers exist
as complex bundles of small muscle filaments. These filaments, known as actin and myosin bind in
such a way that allows for sarcomere contraction. In assistance with calcium flowing into muscle
cells, proteins known as tropomyosin and troponin ultimately allow cross bridging to occur.
Throughout the body three types of muscle fibers exist, these types of fibers are slow oxidative,
fast oxidative and fast glycolytic. Activation or recruitment of these fibers varies from person to
person depending on the muscle specificity needed to perform a given contraction. In other words
the innervation of each fiber depends solely on the muscle needed to engage in a specific exercise.
By first knowing the anatomy behind a muscle cell one can then have a better understanding of the
effects training has on muscle cell hypertrophy.
The two primary functions of skeletal muscle is to contract to cause force, and to provide stability
to the body. During exercise each muscle must be able to contract in response to the stress or
tension on that muscle. The idea behind muscle hypertrophy is that as a progressive overload of
stress is applied to the muscle, it is able to adapt by increasing the size and number of contractile
proteins making up the muscle fiber. Muscle growth or hypertrophy

Analysis Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Signed Into Law
Following his election in 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law something radical for
its time: The Social Security Act. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by
minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line.
Simply put, Social Securityis a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a
minimal source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average
person s yearly income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein
benefits are decided by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding
scale with caps (United States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much
higher for people of lower incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher
incomes (Benefit). Both the scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social
Security accumulates its funds into a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US
Treasury Securities, where interest is accumulated and put back into the fund. Social Security s
benefits are not affected by the investments. Since 1982, the Social Security trust fund has
experienced a net increase and in 2015, the asset reserves sit at 2.8 trillion dollars (Financial).
Despite this, the misinformed often point their fingers at the trust fund and claim that it is on its
last leg, and will soon run out. Every few

John Green Paper Towns Essay
It s a paper town. I mean look at it Q: look at all those cul de sacs, those streets that turn in on
themselves, all the houses that were built to fall apart. All those paper people living in their paper
houses, burning the future to stay warm (Green 57). This quote is from The #1 New York Times
Bestseller, Paper Towns, written by John Green. In part one of this book, Quentin Jacobsen, the
main character, lives in a subdivision in Florida named Jefferson Park. Quentin s miracle in life was
his neighbor, Margo Roth Spiegelman. As time went passing by, their relationship slowly

The author of this book gave the reader a good visualization of Margo and Q hopping the fence
in the parking lot at SeaWorld. I believe the author did a good job at visualizing because he gave
the reader precise descriptions of the events in the book. For example, We ran through a small
thicket of trees, hugging tight against these huge opaque tanks that might have stored animals,
and then we came out to an asphalt path and I could see the big amphitheater where shamu
splashed me when I was a kid (Green 75). This is a useful visual to show how visualization is
key when writing a story. The visualizations include specific details of events or objects that are in
the book. As readers can visualize an event, it gives them a better understanding of the story line.
With the sentences that the author has given, I believe it is easy for others to visualize each event
with the specific aspects. Creating an image from the story can also help connect, predict and form
other reading strategies. Visualizing is truly a useful reading strategy in every

The Popular View Of World War II
The popular view of World War II is of the United States and Great Britain cooperating to defeat
the Axis powers. While it is known that there was a limit in cooperation between the Western
powers and the Soviet Union in terms of military strategy and political goals after the war, the limits
to the cooperation between Britain and the United Statesare less well known. There are several
reasons why the cooperation between the two countries was not as much as it could have been.

This would continue until the passage of Lend Lease in March of 1941. Strangely enough, when
the Daily Mirror announced that Lend Lease would pass congress, the paper focused more on
Churchill s speech which was credited with the good news. The article stated that moved by
Churchill s plea, give us the tools and we will finish the job, administration leaders in
Washington last night predicted that the British Aid Bill will be made into law on March 1.
However, the fact that Britain had to pay cash for all war material for the first year and a half of
the war reveals that they were receiving much less help from America than popular history would
have us believe.
The limits of cooperation are revealed in the difficulty of the ships for bases deal in 1940. When
Churchill first took office his first concern was for the naval aspect of the war. He was concerned
that if France surrendered and Italy then declared war that Britain would not have enough
destroyers to attend to their needs. This is shown by the fact that the first thing that he asked of
Roosevelt after becoming prime minister was the loan of forty or fifty of [Roosevelt s] older
destroyers to bridge the gap between what we have now and the large new construction we put in
hand at the beginning of the war. Unfortunately it was not that simple.

Barlifting Flaws
There are about a million technique flaws that can be exhibited in the snatch, clean, and jerk. And,
unfortunately for coaches and athletes alike, it is common for more than one of these faults to be
displayed in a lifter at the same time. So when someone has multiple technique errors that need to
be fixed, where do you start?
Perhaps it s obvious, but you should not try to fix everything all at once.
Experience has shown that giving a lifter multiple corrections to focus on at once tends to make
things worse. If you re lucky, both things will sort of improve, but not as optimally as if you kept
the cue singular.
This doesn t mean that you can t correct more than one thing in a day (though often that s a good
idea, especially if the fault ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This doesn t just mean the set up on the ground; I have new lifters do a lot of work from the hang,
and achieving the proper set up in these positions is also extremely important.
I believe that lifts done from the hang should look as close as possible positioning wise to those
same points in the full lifts. For example, I see many people try to bend their knees so much that
they protrude past the bar when lowering down into an above the knee hang position. But the fact
is, that position never actually occurs in a full lift the body will instead be hinged over, with
shoulders out in front of the bar, and the knees bent only slightly. If your set up is incorrect
whether from the hang or from the floor, it is much more difficult to reach proper positions during
the rest of the lift.
At this point, in someone who came in with multiple technique flaws, the odds are good that they
were deficient in at least one of the above points. My purpose with this post is not to give a
complete description of the entire priority list for error correction in weightlifting, but just to give
ideas on starting points when a lifter displays more than one

How do poets say hello? Hey, haven t we metaphor. One of the most famous and heavily discussed
Author during my high school was Robert Frost. He was famous for writing poems reflecting life
and our sentiments. He uses symbolisms, metaphors, and more importantly his personal influences.
Frost s poems teaches everyone to understand the morals in life. In the end of the poem, readers are
left to salvage the hidden messages (morals) and to understand. Robert Frostwas a man with
misfortunate events that seems to be striking him like thunders throughout his life. With each strike

Understanding Long Term Conditions And Palliative Care
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate understanding of long term conditions and
palliative care. Nursing care in general entails holistic care and collaborative care of individuals
of all ages, families, groups and communities, whether sick or well (Royal College of Nursing,
(RCN) 2007). Better management of lifelong conditions has been the priority of the National
Health Service since the 1990s. When long term conditions are managed well in the community,
patients can live a quality life without visiting hospital frequently (RCN, 2011). In Britain, six in
ten people are reported to be suffering from long term conditions that currently cannot be cured;
and these people are often suffering from more than one condition that makes their care
challenging. It is estimated that by 2030 the UK will have double the number of people aged 85
years or over, who are living with one or more long term condition (Department of Health, 2014).
This essay discusses the core principles of long term conditions and management. Government
guidelines and standards are also discussed in relation to how these will impact the care of the
patients who are experiencing long term conditions. The reports, guidelines and plans that play an
important role in directing the current nursing system today, are discussed with regard to the
management of chronic conditions and lastly, palliative care and outcomes from the publication

How Does Darcy Develop In Pride And Prejudice
In the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, the characters progressed throughout the course
of the story. For instance, two of the main characters, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.
Beginning with Mr. Darcy. At the rise of the story, Darcy is perceived as a very arrogant and
fairly obnoxious human being. This is mostly due to his, well, arrogant and obnoxious behavior
at the ball. He firmly refused to dance with Elizabeth, though later in the story he is very taken
by her, because she was not pleasing to his eyes and did not live up to his standards. Darcy later
tries to justify this as, in a way, him being shy and having a difficult time introducing himself to
and becoming comfortable with new people. In contrast to the beginning, as the story
progresses, Darcy falls more in love with Elizabeth Bennet and proposes marriage to her, though
she declines. At that point in the book, Elizabeth was still thinking of Darcy based off of her first
impression of him as a rich, arrogant snob. Later Darcy begins to show his true colors, not only to
the reader, but to Elizabeth as well. This prompt Elizabeth to see just how wrong she was about

Football is a very dangerous, physical, high contact sport, whether it be at the high school level,
collegiate, or professional. Injuries are common among football athletes whether it may be
concussions, breaks, fractures, or tears. The scenario explained below demonstrates how injuries
have the ability to affect an athlete s self confidence through Bandura s Theory of Self Efficacy.
This example surrounds a two sport high school athlete in football and baseball.
During the middle of the football season the athlete made a tackle off an interception and brought
down the defender, during the play the athlete suffered an injury in which he did not find out about
until five months later after testing. The injury included a dislocation and fracture of the right
shoulder as well as a torn labrum and labral, the labral helps keep the shoulder stay in the socket
and not dislocate. After the game the trainer said it was a rotator cuff strain and he went through his
rehab and continued to play the rest of the season.
During the winter baseball workouts started and the athlete was unable to throw due to his injury
to his throwing shoulder, he grew concern and later sought out help from an outside doctor. After a
series of X rays and MRI s the athlete was told about the injury he had suffered five months ago. At

Ozymandias is believed to be more powerful than the Gods themselves. Ozymandias is an iambic

as the King of Kings and he believes he is the ruler of great and vast lands, but the poem reveals
nature and time has overcome him and his kingdom, leaving behind ruins of him, and lone and

poem. He is very descriptive of the pieces of the statue, and the ruins of the wreck. Half sunk, a

Argumentative Speech On Gas Prices

DEATH AND VIOLENCE IN THE MAHABHARATA AND THE TALE OF THE HEIKE
Death, and the process of dying and killing, is central to the plots of the ancient Indian
Mahabharata and the ancient Japanese Tale of the Heike. These epics, though the products of
different cultures, describe similar beliefs and practices regarding death, focusing on death in
relation to the religious beliefs and societal roles of the warriors classes the Vedic Kshatriyas
and the Japanese samurai. This great significance attached to death appears to act as a driving
force and justification behind many of the violent acts of war in these narratives. It can therefore
be argued that the belief in the cycle of death and rebirth, the acceptance of death as part of the
warrior identity, and the idea of dying honourably lead to the normalization of violence in both the
Mahabharata and the Tale of the Heike. Both epics show similar and overlapping religious beliefs;
specifically, the belief in the cycle of death and rebirth. This belief is used in various instances to
soften the significance of death and justify acts of violence which bring death. The conversation
between the warrior Arjunaand Krishna, an incarnation of the god Vishnu, in the Bhagavad Gita
highlight this. When Arjuna is reluctant to fight and kill his family members on the opposing side,
Krishna argues that, due to the cycle of death and rebirth, the act of killing is not as bad as it
seems. He asks That which is unborn and imperishable, how does

San Francisco Waterfront Strike Essay
The Great Depression was one of the worst financial crisis the United States has ever seen, it came
more subtly to California. California s diversified economy which included agricultural, industrial,
entertainment, tourist and service sectors meant the economy was not dependent on one aspect.
However, the 1930s had its fair share of confrontations and violence between labor unions and farm
and factory owners during the 1930s. Furthermore, civil unrest resulted from instability of the
agricultural workforce, a militant labor movement, and radical traditions. Conflict between capital
and labor became confrontations between left and right. For example, The San Francisco
Waterfront Strike and The Cotton Strike of 1933 reflected the fragility of the state has a whole. In
1934, the Embarcadero waterfront of San Francisco resembles a military base. National guardsmen
patrolled the Embarcadero with rifles, machine guns, and often swept areas with tanks. The San

Random patrols are designed detect crimes taking place and to deter crimes from taking place

Example Of Misogyny In Antigone
In Sophocles s Antigone, we can see that the deeply misogynistic society of ancient Greece has
manifested itself into Creon, a despotic ruler, despising dissidents, traitors, and especially women.
His hatred of women manifested into several examples of misogyny throughout the play: He
assumed that the criminal who buried Polyneices was a man, he looks down on Antigone s
defiance as improper defiance of a mans order by a woman, and he virtually disowns his son
Haemon for disagreeing with him and listening to a woman. In classical Greece, women were
widely hated. Misogynywas engraved into the vary culture of ancient Greece, in their religion, the

box containing them. Among the many stories in the vast literature of classical Greece,
apparently humanity lived in relative peace and happiness until the creation of women, which,
via Pandora s treachery and women s other shenanigans, we devolved to our current state. This
trend of putting women down on a societal level is known as patriarchy and was incredibly
common in Classical societies as compared to now, It is a natural progression akin to bureaucracy
that becomes more common as a state ages, the small imbalance of men s physical dominance
snowballs into the state of Patriarchy we can see in Sophocless Antigone. We can see this kind of
patriarchy in other societies, such as: China, India, and Rome. This society molded Creon into

quot;The Raven quot;
Edgar Allen Poe s journey into the realm of death, fear and the macabre, The Raven is an
exploration into the loneliness and despair associated with the loss of a loved one. Through the
clever use of rhyme, meter, imagery, symbolism and word choice, Poe catapults us into a world of
sinister images, morbid predilections and unearthly machinations. We are, at once, submerged in
the pulsing, driving force of supernatural fear as only Poe is able to create. And with every use of
the haunting refrain Nevermore, upon which the chilling cadence of this poem is built, Poe
transforms a story steeped in remorse and sorrow into a tale of preternatural mystery and suspense.
The first, and most powerful literary device that Poe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the use of the alliteration weak and weary , in addition to the internal rhyme of dreary and
weary , we are instantly struck by the tone of the poem as being one of loneliness, grief and
depression.
In the second stanza, we are more fully enlightened to the setting from which these emotions
stem. With the use of such phrases like bleak December and dying ember , Poe conveys the
speakers internal state with the use of external clues. In both cases, the word choice seems to
transmit feelings of isolation and misery from which the speaker wishes to find relief. And, it is
here that we are first introduced to the reason for his sorrow, his lost love Lenore. It is from this base
of raw emotion and desolate misery that the poem garners speed and evolves.
Poe s use of symbolism is another potent tool with which he imparts the meaning and depth of the
poem. First and foremost, we must decipher the significance and implication of the raven itself. The
embodiment of death, the bird signifies the very issue with which the speaker is grappling. In the
suggestion that the bird has come from the Night s Plutonian shore, Poe calls upon the myth of
Pluto, the God of the Underworld, the land of the dead in Greek mythology. The Raven, therefore,
may be thought of as a creature from the land of the dead. The corresponding relevance of this in
the poem is that his loss and grief have taken on a living and

Phoebe Pyncheon Character Analysis
Phoebe Pyncheon s arrival to the House of The Seven Gables was initially not looked forward to
as the lone resident of the house has been used to being alone. It was soon found after the lone
inhabitant, Hepzibah, had her brother arrive from prison, that Phoebe s visit was welcomed. Phoebe
gave a youth back to the inhabitants of the house, while Phoebe herself grew from her visit to the
House of The Seven Gables.
The inhabitants of the House of The Seven Gables appeared to be most affected by Phoebe s
visit. It is stated on page 95 that Phoebe s singing kept Clifford calm and happy and were what
enabled her to freely wander about. After Phoebe had visited for some time, it is stated that Phoebe

Analysis Of Kobitar Khoje s Goal
Kobitar Khoje s goal is to encourage and motivate young poets through releasing a solo album of
their poems by an eminent recitation Artist. The event will patronize these poetry enthusiasts by
offering them big platform and canvas, simultaneously the opportunity to record their recitation
poem and publish in CD along with publishing a souvenir with your biographic information. This
will be a bridge between young poets and eminent poets. The criteria of poems will be Love,
creation, rebel, independence and native.
Such kind of first ever opportunity will give young poets to flourish their skill and make them feel
deep magnetism on the writing art that profoundly affected their poems. Nowadays, the practice of
poem writing is becoming increasingly popular day by day. There are lots of young and energetic
poem writers in and around the Bangladesh. But, they do not have platform and canvas for
blooming their skills. So, they might be loose their hope and faith on writing motivation. In this
circumstance, Kobitar Khoje s initiative may bring betterment in the cultural ecosystem in
Bangladesh. We see that all the poem recitation CD albums are released with the poetry of famous
poets. This time, we are working to promote the young and new poets to encourage them in their
writes. The poems should be in Bengali Language. We have planned to publish 1000 CDs with
small booklet and 1000 souvenir and we expect that this will lead to development and encourage
100 young and new

Art Vs Visual Art
Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th
century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of
attempts to convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and
means of visual depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces
of modern art given that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case?
Unlike traditional art, where one can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and
composition, modern art should be evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there
are numerous artistic laws and rules, any assessment made about a piece of art remains
subjective; I believe one can easily explain why someone likes a particular piece of art, but will
not be able to persuade those who disagree with them or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let
us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch. Though it was painted more than 110
years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art. Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by
their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator
s ability to communicate with the audience through a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted
shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed later) Scream is still a realistic painting,
performed in an expressionist manner. Its

Our percent yield for alcohol was 84.2% which is average. We rushed through our vacuum filtration and probably did not let the solid dry long enough and might have not transferred all of the solid to the vacuum filtration from the beaker. 2. The TLC results showed two different spots that traveled different distances on the TLC plate, one for ethyl vanillin and one for ethyl vanillin alcohol which proves there is no evidence of the starting material in our final product. The product (ethyl vanillin alcohol) was more polar and interacted more with the solvent than our starting material (ethyl vanillin). This increase in polarity is due to the extra alcohol group in the ethyl vanillin alcohol and the smaller Rf value also indicates it is more polar and pure than the ethyl vanillin. 3. In The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, there are a few characters that aren t present in the book for a large amount of time but have a great affect on the story. Kurtzis one of these characters. Kurtz becomes greedy and powerful but never realizes that this behavior is bringing him down until he is on the verge of death. Kurtz last words, The horror! The horror! These imaging modalities include ultrasound, whole body sestamibi scan, whole body CT, MRI or PET scan and bone scan. In case of inconclusive results from the above mentioned studies, more invasive techniques may be utilized including arteriography or selective venous sampling with measurement of PTH [2], [5], [7] and [60]. Furthermore, unlike in the primary diagnosis where FNA is avoided, the use of FNA to diagnose recurrence of parathyroid carcinoma is utilized, and can help differentiate between recurrent malignancy and scar tissue [21]. • 21. Effects Training Has on Muscle Cell Hypertrophy As discussed in paper one, readers can see the complexity that lies behind muscle fibers and the contractile units that make up each muscle cell. At the normal physiology level, muscle fibers exist as complex bundles of small muscle filaments. These filaments, known as actin and myosin bind in such a way that allows for sarcomere contraction. In assistance with calcium flowing into muscle cells, proteins known as tropomyosin and troponin ultimately allow cross bridging to occur. Throughout the body three types of muscle fibers exist, these types of fibers are slow oxidative, fast oxidative and fast glycolytic. Activation or recruitment of these fibers varies from person to person depending on the muscle specificity needed to perform a given contraction. In other words the innervation of each fiber depends solely on the muscle needed to engage in a specific exercise. By first knowing the anatomy behind a muscle cell one can then have a better understanding of the effects training has on muscle cell hypertrophy. The two primary functions of skeletal muscle is to contract to cause force, and to provide stability to the body. During exercise each muscle must be able to contract in response to the stress or tension on that muscle. The idea behind muscle hypertrophy is that as a progressive overload of stress is applied to the muscle, it is able to adapt by increasing the size and number of contractile proteins making up the muscle fiber. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line. Simply put, Social Securityis a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a minimal source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average person s yearly income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein benefits are decided by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding scale with caps (United States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much higher for people of lower incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher incomes (Benefit). Both the scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social Security accumulates its funds into a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US Treasury Securities, where interest is accumulated and put back into the fund. Social Security s benefits are not affected by the investments. Since 1982, the Social Security trust fund has experienced a net increase and in 2015, the asset reserves sit at 2.8 trillion dollars (Financial). Nursing care in general entails holistic care and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, whether sick or well (Royal College of Nursing, (RCN) 2007). Better management of lifelong conditions has been the priority of the National Health Service since the 1990s. When long term conditions are managed well in the community, patients can live a quality life without visiting hospital frequently (RCN, 2011). In Britain, six in ten people are reported to be suffering from long term conditions that currently cannot be cured; and these people are often suffering from more than one condition that makes their care challenging. It is estimated that by 2030 the UK will have double the number of people aged 85 years or over, who are living with one or more long term condition (Department of Health, 2014). This essay discusses the core principles of long term conditions and management. Government guidelines and standards are also discussed in relation to how these will impact the care of the patients who are experiencing long term conditions. The reports, guidelines and plans that play an important role in directing the current nursing system today, are discussed with regard to the management of chronic conditions and lastly, palliative care and outcomes from the publication Together for Health Delivering End of Life Care (2013) ... For instance, two of the main characters, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Beginning with Mr. Darcy. At the rise of the story, Darcy is perceived as a very arrogant and fairly obnoxious human being. This is mostly due to his, well, arrogant and obnoxious behavior at the ball. He firmly refused to dance with Elizabeth, though later in the story he is very taken by her, because she was not pleasing to his eyes and did not live up to his standards. Darcy later tries to justify this as, in a way, him being shy and having a difficult time introducing himself to and becoming comfortable with new people. In contrast to the beginning, as the story progresses, Darcy falls more in love with Elizabeth Bennet and proposes marriage to her, though she declines. At that point in the book, Elizabeth was still thinking of Darcy based off of her first impression of him as a rich, arrogant snob. • 36. Death And Violence During The Mahabharata And The Tale Of... DEATH AND VIOLENCE IN THE MAHABHARATA AND THE TALE OF THE HEIKE Death, and the process of dying and killing, is central to the plots of the ancient Indian Mahabharata and the ancient Japanese Tale of the Heike. These epics, though the products of different cultures, describe similar beliefs and practices regarding death, focusing on death in relation to the religious beliefs and societal roles of the warriors classes the Vedic Kshatriyas and the Japanese samurai. This great significance attached to death appears to act as a driving force and justification behind many of the violent acts of war in these narratives. It can therefore be argued that the belief in the cycle of death and rebirth, the acceptance of death as part of the warrior identity, and the idea of dying honourably lead to the normalization of violence in both the Mahabharata and the Tale of the Heike. Both epics show similar and overlapping religious beliefs; specifically, the belief in the cycle of death and rebirth. This belief is used in various instances to soften the significance of death and justify acts of violence which bring death. The conversation between the warrior Arjunaand Krishna, an incarnation of the god Vishnu, in the Bhagavad Gita highlight this. When Arjuna is reluctant to fight and kill his family members on the opposing side, Krishna argues that, due to the cycle of death and rebirth, the act of killing is not as bad as it seems. • 40. Example Of Misogyny In Antigone In Sophocles s Antigone, we can see that the deeply misogynistic society of ancient Greece has manifested itself into Creon, a despotic ruler, despising dissidents, traitors, and especially women. His hatred of women manifested into several examples of misogyny throughout the play: He assumed that the criminal who buried Polyneices was a man, he looks down on Antigone s defiance as improper defiance of a mans order by a woman, and he virtually disowns his son Haemon for disagreeing with him and listening to a woman. In classical Greece, women were widely hated. Misogynywas engraved into the vary culture of ancient Greece, in their religion, the Greek Pantheon, Pandora, one of the first women, unleashed all of the world s problems from the box containing them. Among the many stories in the vast literature of classical Greece, apparently humanity lived in relative peace and happiness until the creation of women, which, via Pandora s treachery and women s other shenanigans, we devolved to our current state. This trend of putting women down on a societal level is known as patriarchy and was incredibly common in Classical societies as compared to now, It is a natural progression akin to bureaucracy that becomes more common as a state ages, the small imbalance of men s physical dominance snowballs into the state of Patriarchy we can see in Sophocless Antigone. We are, at once, submerged in the pulsing, driving force of supernatural fear as only Poe is able to create. With the use of the alliteration weak and weary , in addition to the internal rhyme of dreary and weary , we are instantly struck by the tone of the poem as being one of loneliness, grief and depression. In the second stanza, we are more fully enlightened to the setting from which these emotions stem. With the use of such phrases like bleak December and dying ember , Poe conveys the speakers internal state with the use of external clues. In both cases, the word choice seems to transmit feelings of isolation and misery from which the speaker wishes to find relief. And, it is here that we are first introduced to the reason for his sorrow, his lost love Lenore. It is from this base of raw emotion and desolate misery that the poem garners speed and evolves. Poe s use of symbolism is another potent tool with which he imparts the meaning and depth of the poem. First and foremost, we must decipher the significance and implication of the raven itself. The embodiment of death, the bird signifies the very issue with which the speaker is grappling. In the suggestion that the bird has come from the Night s Plutonian shore, Poe calls upon the myth of Pluto, the God of the Underworld, the land of the dead in Greek mythology. The Raven, therefore, may be thought of as a creature from the land of the dead. The corresponding relevance of this in the poem is that his loss and grief have taken on a living and ... • 45. Art Vs Visual Art Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch. Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art. Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its ...
