The Digestive Systems Organs Work
The digestive systems organs work together to help the body turn food into nutrients and energy. Food
passes through the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract). The GI tract is made up of the oral cavity, pharynx,
esophagus, stomach, small intestines, and large intestines. There are accessory organs that do not have
food pass through them but those organs help with the digestive system. They include the teeth,
tongue, salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. The six major functions need to happen in the
digestive system and they are ingestion, secretion, mixing and movement, digestion, absorption, and
excretion. (Taylor)
The oral cavity is the mouth. The mouth has the tongue, teeth, and salivary glands inside it. Once food
has entered the mouth, teeth must chop the food into small pieces. The food must be moistened by
saliva before it can be push down the pharynx by the tongue and other muscles. There are about 32
small teeth in the body s mouth. The teeth are the hardest substance in the body. They are bone like
and covered in a layer of enamel. Under the teeth, the pulp, there are blood vessels and nerves. Teeth
are made for grinding and cutting food into smaller pieces. The tongue is located right behind the teeth
and is made of muscles covered in a bumpy, thin, skin like layer. The tongue uses those muscles to
push food to the back of the mouth for swallowing. The mouth has taste buds on it. When food enters
the mouth those taste buds send the taste information

CSI And Law Trip Essay
Washington CSI and Law Trip Revised Draft There are few trips in life that will be remembered for a
lifetime. One of those trips was a trip to Washington, DC, the purpose of which was to teach about
CSI and law. The first thing I noticed about the trip was that it was held in a resort that was an almost
perfect replica of the White House located in Chantilly, Virginia. Likewise, the sights seen on the trip
were the most spectacular I had ever seen. From just arriving at the airport, to staying in a marvelous
hotel and university, learning many different things from speakers, seeing many different important
landmarks, and socializing with friends, the trip was certainly unrivaled. I began my trip in the
summer of 2015. The excitement was immense considering that I was about to embark on one of the
most influential trips of my life. I had begun packing my suitcase the day before the trip to make sure
that I did not leave anything behind. Packing for the trip was quite long due to packing a substantial
amount of clothes and other necessary items. After all, I was having to pack for a week and a half long
trip. This task is often quite long and tedious, but it is often satisfying once it is over with. ... Show

The airport was not very busy, due to the arrival during nighttime. A lot of stress is often involved with
going to the airport because it means one must leave their friends and family behind in order to
embark on their trip. The airport I departed from was, Charlotte Douglas International Airport. As
soon as I arrived, I raced to the terminal, said goodbye to my family and took the flight to Dulles
International Airport in Washington, DC. As I boarded the plane, I thought to myself that this was the
first time in my life that was flying solo. Although it was kind of an eerie thought, I learned to cope

NEASC Accreditation Process
Good Morning EDL 605:
It was nice seeing you all Thursday night. I hope you are enjoying the weekend.
This past Thursday, I attempted to illustrate how the NEASC accreditation process drives school
improvement. My experience with the accreditation process at Coventry High School and Amity
Regional High School is common in all public high schools in the state of Connecticut, and across
New England. It is also a common experience in institutions of higher education. Sacred Heart s
teacher preparation program is currently going through the process of revising practices to align with
accrediting agency expectations. I can virtually guarantee that this process will improve the quality of
teacher prep programming at Sacred Heart. It is important

The Cost Of The Cadillac Tax
Intentions of the Tax One of the primary goals of the Cadillac tax is to reduce the growing costs of
national health care (Lowry 2015). The government is hopeful that implementation of the Cadillac tax
will reduce overall health care expenditures and impede the growth of health care costs by
encouraging a change in consumer behavior through discouraging the provision and obtainment of
overly generous health coverage plans (Herring, 2011). Generally, individuals who are insured spend
greater amounts on health care than those who are not as they can consume greater amounts of
healthcare with a lesser personal burden. In the case that the insurance provided to an individual is
overly generous, it encourages over spending on health care due to the fact that they incur a only a
portion of costs of consumption. In this manner, the consumption of an inefficient amount of health
care is perpetuated by the provision of overly generous health care coverage. This inefficiency and
associated increase in demand for healthcare causes the price of healthcare to rise, which exacerbates
the undesirable growth in national health care costs (Gravelle, 2015). The Cadillac tax aims to
discourage the provision and obtainment of overly generous health care coverage by employers in an
effort to decrease inefficient over consumption of health care and stagnate the growth in healthcare
costs. The intent of the Cadillac tax is to alter consumer behavior to decrease the provision of

Examples Of Vengeance In Beowulf
While today revenge is regarded as an impolite and impractical practice, in times past it was
normalized, even celebrated. Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant and the acclaimed Anglo Saxon
poem Beowulf describe vengeance as a ceremonious cornerstone of British, Saxon, Geat, and Danish
society. In these societies partaking in revenge was widely regarded as noble and morally upright,
though from a modern perspective these acts of vengeance would be regarded a petty and unjust.
While characters in both The Buried Giant and Beowulf liberally practice and celebrate revenge,
Ishiguro and Beowulf s Anglo Saxon author seem to critique the medium which their characters
observe.
The idea of vengeance is present throughout the entirety of The Buried Giant: each prominent
character partaking and celebrating their own retaliatory scheme. One notable example of vengeance
within the novel occurs between Axl and Beatrice. As the reader nears the end of the novel they come

In fact, vengeance plays such a pinnacle role in Beowulf that Beowulf himself states, It is always
better / to avenge dear ones than to indulge in mourning (Beowulf, 1384 1385, 37). In an act of
retaliation for the terrorization of Herot, Bowulf seeks out, and eventually murders, Grendel. Grendel
s mother then attacks Herot, in retaliation for the murder of her son. Beowulf then kills Grendel s
mother to avenge those she killed during her conquest of Herot. Hrothgar encourages Beowulf to seek
out vengeance by saying, My household guards / are on wane, fate sweeps them away / into Grendel s
clutches but God can easily / halt these raids and harrowing attacks (Beowulf,476 469, 14). In this
verse Hrothgar suggest that, with God s aide, Beowulf can easily overtake Grendel. After slaying
Grendel, Beowulf s victorious act of vengeance was celebrated with a massive feast at Herot and
rewarded with an invaluable amount of

Social Network Marketing

Insurance, Liability, And Liability Essay
Insurance and Liability As previously noted, we anticipate that the instances of car accidents will
decrease with the use of HAVs. Nonetheless, car accidents are always a possibility and car accidents
with HAVs pose the unique question, Is the driver liable or is the manufacturer liable? HAVs will
ultimately develop into more autonomously functioning vehicles, operating without much human
assistance. If such an autonomously functioning car were part of a car accident, the manufacturer s
liability would certainly increase. However, the first commercially available HAVs will involve the
vehicle sharing the driving responsibility with the human driver. Establishing liability in this gray area
is a challenge that Maryland will take on. Also, car insurance premiums will likely increase for the
consumer, which is an important consideration because that translates to less disposable income in the
pocket of the driver. Technology One of the primary concerns is ensuring a two tier system
guaranteeing that if one system fails (i.e. the car s autonomous system), there is a warning system to
inform the driver to take control of the vehicle. The safety of the driver has to remain the number one
concern. The intricate technology used on HAVs is what makes their smart driving capabilities work
safely. Frequent software updates will be necessary so that the HAV can acknowledge new roads and
infrastructure.(cite: Anderson) If the HAV owner waits several months after being notified of

Kandinsky and the other one is Guan Zhong Wu, he comes from China which is my own country. The
two artists lived in different cultural backgrounds during the same period, so they had significant
similarities and differences. First, this essay will compare the similar artistic spirit between the two
artists. Second, this essay will examine the different drawing tools that the two artists used for their

He used oil paints, canvas and oil painting pens, the color of his oil painting are very heavy and bright,
making his pictures colorful and powerful. The difference is that Guan Zhong Wu uses ink to draw
abstract paintings. Ink is more diluted than oil paint because every time use ink painter need to put
water in it, making his abstract paintings looks more concise and have different feeling. However, as
long as painters understand this kind of painting, different painting tools will achieve different results.
According to Zheng(2008:30 32),in the study of painting, students need to know the history of the
development of painting tools, and the basic knowledge of how to use the painting tools, that will help
them to create their own paintings. In conclusion, it is important for the painter to understand and use
the appropriate drawing tools.
The point and line to plane (Kandinsky 1979:6) is the painting element, such as the letters that make
up the word, different combinations will have different effects. As Kandinsky (1979:12) has
demonstrated, that point, line and plane is the basic building material of the artwork itself, and that in
every different art the elements of art are certainly different. However, it is necessary to first
distinguish the basic elements from the other elements, no artwork does not have these artistic
elements. Therefore, the common feature between Wassily Kandinsky s paintings and Guan Zhong
Wu s paintings are point, line

Oskar Schindler Argumentative Essay
Over 11 million people died in the holocaust, and more than 7 million of them were Jewish. Oskar
Schindler was an entrepreneur who sacrificed himself for a cause he believed was unjust. He spent
most of his life around Germany in Europe. During the Holocaust, he saved over 1,200 people from
the gas chambers. There are some people who don t think of him as a hero, but as a man looking to
make an easy dollar. In my opinion Oskar Schindler was a hero of the highest class and deserves all
the credit he received for his actions. When Oskar was born in 1908, no one could ve guessed he
would have such an impact on the world.
When Oskar was a young boy, he adored his father and strived to be like him. His Father and Mother
were both German, even though he was born in Zwittau, Hungary. His Father, Johann, owned a farm
machinery business that Oskar eventually worked at. He had one sister, named Elfriede, who was
seven years younger than him. After Oskar attended primary and secondary school, he enrolled in a
technical school. He was expelled from the school in 1924 for forging his report card. After later
graduating from a different school, he worked for his father for several years. In 1928, he married his
lifelong friend Emilie and he immediately stopped working for his father but started looking for more

problem with that theory is that Schindler all though very profitable spent nearly all of his profits
bribing Nazi officers so they would let his Jews live. Oskar nearly went broke from spending so much

Income Smoothing Methods
Introduction How do you explain to an intelligent public that it is possible for two companies in the
same industry to follow entirely different accounting principles and both get a true and fair audit
report? M. Lafferty Nowadays, as our economy is facing possible everyday crises, managers undergo
an increasing pressure in order to keep their company s earnings stable. Shareholders and analysts
expect companies to meet forecasted goals and not to deviate from these. Especially, reliable
companies are to report positive results and shall not present any surprises . Managers therefore often
turn to their accounting departments for help, whose job it then is to improve the bottom line by
changing the information shown in financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, many companies also amortize so called one time expenses by listing them as a capital
expense (on C/F) and paying the cost by amortization, hence improving the company s net income.
The Classification Method This method defines whether or not a transaction is classified as operating
income or non operating income. The Matching Book Method The Matching Book Method allows
managers to decide in which period transactions are to be recorded. Thus, this method is the most
powerful method in income smoothing. The Channel Stuffing Method The Channel Stuffing Method
is a tool used to inflate sales within a company by selling goods to customers that did not order them
in first place. This leads to more positive sales figures at first (which can then be stated) but has
several disadvantages in the long run. Conclusion Smoothing of income is an undeniable practice used
by accountants to favour the companies current needs, therefore it can be showing rather higher or
lower earnings than the actual latter. There are several methods through which this practice is applied
depending on the preferences as well as on the requirements of the people interested in the financial
statements. Approaching income smoothing from the legality perspective, one would surely come by
not only examples of both legal and illegal aspects, but also by a gray area, where it

How Does Atwood Use Language In The Handmaids Tale
How does Atwood presents the importance of language in The Handmaid s Tale? Throughout the
novel, we see evidence of indoctrination in all of the characters. This indoctrination process appears to
be primarily carried out by Gilead s manipulation of language among its residents. Language is a
powerful tool in shaping our thoughts and how we behave; the control and exploitation of discourse in
the regime shows us not only this, but also how language can provide power as well as take it away.
Gilead s government relies heavily on language from the bible to help maintain its theocratic
dictatorship. It does this by taking religious quotes such as Give me children or else I die out of
context and bending the meaning to impose their ideologies. A quote that is made to be taken quite
literally in Gilead as the women are told it is their sole purpose to reproduce and if they do not they
are an unwoman a disturbing term which implies that in the eyes of Gilead, unless the women meet its
ideology, they are useless and their humanity is taken away from them. ... Show more content on

Guatemal A Large Latin American Country
Guatemala once was a magnificent vacation destination for many Americans. Now, many Americans
are choosing a different getaway.Guatemala has seen many changes to daily life due to drug cartels
and street gangs. Drug cartels and street gangs have been taking over the cities and rural areas. These
two very dangerous groups of people have been threatening some people and killing others. Many
families have to pay to guarantee a safe life. If a family cannot pay, they have to escape their
homeland. The cartels and gangs ruined many families and traumatized many more. The citizens need
help but, not from only themselves. The government needs to help and realize that there is a problem
that can ruin their country. The government needs to take control of the problems that the cartels and
gangs create.
Guatemala is a large Latin American country with only a population of 12,701,000. This country is
sometimes misjudged because many people see it as a tourist destination, but sadly it is a very
dangerous place to be. The capital of this beautiful Caribbean state, Guatemala City has a high crime
rate. Many times the crimes committed are shootings and drug trafficking, but the crimes can be more
than that. Most crimes are encouraged by the cartels that the government cannot control. (Guatemala

Importance Of Economic Market Structures
Importance of Economic Market Structures Before an organization or investor makes a strategic
decision to enter a product in today s economy, a thorough market analysis is vital to fully
comprehend the domestic and international demand, current suppliers, entry and exit barriers present,
and cost of production for the product or service being provided. The culmination of this investigation
identifies the market structure the product resides in, associated potential long run profitability, cost
efficiency, survivability, and incentives for future entrepreneurs. This paper will describe the
characteristics of four such market structures: perfect competition, monopolistic competition,
oligopoly, monopoly while providing an illustrative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to keep in mind that this is a theoretical model. Real data does not exist, and the model
does not precisely describe reality. (Amacher Pate, 2012) The perfect competition model is based on
defined assumptions which prevent its adaptation into a real life economy; however it is often
described as the baseline model to compare all other structures. These assumptions are: (1.) Large
volume of buyers and sellers: A perfect competition market has many buyers and sellers so none are
able to influence the market. (2.) Homogenous products: All producers generate the same product with
no differentiation. (3.) Excellent or perfect knowledge: Buyers and sellers have an extensive amount
of information about the product and other producers. (4.) Free entry and exit into the market: Firms
are able to allocate resources in and out of this market easily with little expense. (5.) Firms are able to
quickly to respond to a changing consumer demand. (6.)Workers and other resources are easily moved
in and out of the industry.
While there is not one organization which is able to meet all of these assumptions, one of the best
examples to illustrate a perfect competition market structure is the agricultural model. If a farmer
produces one field of corn out of literally thousands harvested per year, it will not affect the market
supply or price if he or she produces more

The Debate On Sex Ethics Essay
Under the topic of sex ethics, the morality of homosexuality is a widely debated and controversial
issue. One side of the debate asserts that homosexual behavior is against God s will, and is wrong
because we are all obligated to do God s will, God s will is expressed in the Bible, and the Bible
forbids homosexual behavior (Craig). This debate is called the traditional Christian argument.
Although the argument is valid, I will argue against the conclusion that homosexual behavior is not
against God s will and is not wrong, because the second and third premises of the argument are not
sound. The second premise of the traditional Christian argument is unsound because God s will is not
expressed in the Bible. Before stating what makes the second premise unsound, I will consider
reasoning one could give in support of it. Among the many denominations of Christianity, Catholicism
is easily able to support the second premise of the traditional Christian argument from the Vatican s
Declaration on Some Questions of Sexual Ethics . The declaration strongly asserts that moral
reasoning is not a human construct, but rather it comes from God. God is all knowing and all good as
his plan for salvation was conceived in wisdom and love (Pope Paul VI). God delivered Christ to
humanity to save humans from evil, and those who follow Christ will walk in the light of life (Pope
Paul VI). Christ established the Church, and the church is the pillar of truth, and transmits the truth of

Child Labour Satire
Imagine that one day you are exhausted from working eight straight hours, but are forced to continue
until the sun goes down. How would you feel? Worn out? That s what 168 million children, all over
the world, feel every single second of their lives. When children are forced to do work against their
will, it s child labor. That s why I think child labor should be made illegal in many countries because
children often get beaten, kids can no longer focus on education and, some jobs aren t made for kids.
Children get harmed for disobedience in places such as Nigeria. They also get slapped or spanked if
they don t get their work done, or if they mess up their job. This should not be allowed, because kids

Some jobs, kids do as victims of child labor are beggars, street vendors, shoe shiners, car washers and
feet washers.(Arjunaka, Summa, Worachat,2014,p.3). Some of these jobs are not made for kids to do
such as beggars. Begging in the street is a common job when it comes to child labor, but kids could
get hit by a car. Also, kids aren t born so that they can begin the street. Children do not receive a lot of
money to go beg in the street. Children from the ages of six to eight should not be lifting heavy objects
such as tree trunks or metals. Kids could possibly get stressed out doing jobs that are too hard for
them. Since the children know that if they mess up, they will get beaten (possibly to death) the
children know they can not mess up, which leading to more stress. Although some may argue that
some adults are disabled or are seniors and can t take care of themselves, you don t need a child to do
your work for you. You can make an adult do your work for you and then pay them. Usually in
Nigeria, kids are told to beg on the streets for a very little amount of money. If you want a child to
help you, it should be simple things such as cooking or cleaning portions of the house. Also, children
should be paid a reasonable amount. Children should also be given respect because they are trying to

Hitler Was A Man Of The People
Hitler was a man of the people. He was a great orator and was talented at public speaking. Using that
gift he was able to rally a crippled Germany behind him to become one of the world s strongest super
powers pre WWII. Hitler was loved by his people and feared by his enemies. His following of those
early philosophers was how he founded the Nazi party. He would have pleased Machiavelli with his
ability to be both the fox and the lion. Hitler was cunning and smart, he was able to turn himself
around from seemingly homeless to the head of the German state. He was also able to rally the
Germans behind him, he was courageous and strong and that appealed to the German people.
Extinguish the line of Princes was a quote from Machiavelli meaning that the new Prince, in an effort
to maintain his position, should remove anyone who posed a threat to his power. Hitler did just that
when he elected himself Dictator and dissolved the parliament beneath him. He gave himself ultimate
control over Germany. Hitler would have disappointed Machiavelli by being reckless. All of
Machiavelli s work boils down to a Prince gaining power and using any means necessary to keep it.
The German war machine, while would have been impressive, caused Hitler to fall to exactly what
Machiavelli warned against. Machiavelli is quoted saying He who is blinded by ambition, raises
himself to a position whence he cannot mount higher, must thereafter fall with the greatest loss. Such
a quote is very fitting of

How I Changed My Life
Throughout my life I ve gone through many obstacles, up and downs, and changes that could more
than likely affect me forever. Looking back to this time last year I can say I am not the same person I
was. I can say around this time last year I was very content with how things were in my life. I felt
things were going to happen the way they did, and that was just how it was going to be. I had a little
self motivation but it was not enough to where I could actually believe myself. There were times
where I would wonder where I would be in the next three or four years and have no clue, and then ask
myself what have I done to prepare myself for that time when it comes. Now, there is not one bit of
doubt that I will not be successful in whatever my future presents me. I feel I am way more self driven
today than what I was a year ago. I am chasing the same dream just with a total different attitude now.
Five years ago I would of been at the beginning of my Junior year of highschool I would be having the
time of my life. My Junior year I had no worries, the only thing on my mind was playing football.
Back then I m not sure if I took anything serious at that time, I just knew I had that year and the next
to try and get a football scholarship somewhere. I was getting recruited by Oklahoma State University
so I felt like I was the man, on top of having a little popularity at my school. Other than that it was all
about having fun with my friends. Today I still feel people should take

The Use Of Silicone Products For Breast Implants
Background
Biomaterials, whether from natural or synthetic origin, have been used for many biomedical
applications ranging from surgery to drug delivery (1). Of particular interest is the use of silicone
products for breast implants, which are medical prostheses serving to augment or reconstruct breasts
(1). To date, silicone is one of the most commonly used materials for plastic surgery procedures in
North America (1, 2). The first silicone breast implants were developed in 1961 and were available for
use by 1962. At that time, there was limited awareness on the safety and efficacy of silicone in breast
implants, but this view changed when attention was drawn to repeated reports involving adverse
reactions after implantation (1, 3 5). This led to a moratorium on silicone breast implants in 1992 by
the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (5). After extensive research, the majority of results
concluded that there were no major harmful effects associated with silicone products. In 2006, FDA
approved the use of silicone products in breast implants, which currently leaves silicone as the only
available material for this purpose (3, 5, 6). Since that time, there has been controversy around the
nature and associated complications related to silicone products in breast implants (1, 2, 5). This is
reflected by the current body of literature, and seems to result from a lack of consistency in the
methodologies used to determine the mechanisms underlying silicone transport, uptake,

Akira Kurosawa s Throne Of Blood
Akira Kurosawa s Throne of Blood weaves together an intricate spider web of ideals, but most
importantly integrates immense culture with the epic story arc of Shakespeare s Macbeth to create
gorgeous cinematography that continues to entertain. Specifically, the spirit scene, which parallels the
witches prophecy in Shakespeare s version, binds together Japanese superstition with brilliant Noh
acting to paint a chilling picture of prophetical notions of greed and power.
One of the most interesting points to take from Throne of Blood is that it evolves not in the traditions
of Elizabethan theatre but purely in a Japanese context (Zambrano 262). Kurosawa himself started as a
painter, not a director. The film style in Throne of Blood seems ... Show more content on

One of the most compelling parts is the exaggeration of anger on Washizu s face (this can also be
applied to the rest of the film) that communicates the assumption that he is angered (and secretly
delighted) by this prophecy, almost as when someone points out something about yourself but you do
not to admit that they are right. In junction, the acting style radically differs from Shakespeare s
conception of Macbeth, which like most of his works relies more heavily on dialogue to convey these
emotions through the vessel of the actor, rather than overt

Essay about Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
The cardiovascular system is the most important system in our body. This system is what keeps us
alive. Beating on average 30 billion times a year, our heart is never able to stop and take a break. With
every beat of our heart, the cardiovascular system moves blood, gases, nutrients, and hormones
throughout the intricate vasculature of our bodies. An adult body contains over 60,000 miles of
vessels, which can wrap around the world two and a half times. The vessel branching off of the heart
is largest artery in our body and is known as the aorta. The aorta supplies oxygenated blood to our
body. The aorta runs along the midline of our body and has many other vessels that stem from it to
deliver the blood to a specific location. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elastic tissue is very strong. The adventitia is the outermost layer. It is made of collagen and nourishes
the wall with vasa vasorum.
An aneurysm is a widening or ballooning of a vessel. It is caused by weakness in the aortic wall. In
the aortic wall, the media is mostly affected because it is the thickest. There are instances where
dilation of the wall can occur, but to the outermost layer and this is not a typical aneurysm. It is known
as a false aneurysm or a pseudoaneurysm. When the outermost layer is dilated, often times the inner or
medial wall will rupture, but the outer wall will still be intact. The extracellular matrix proteins
degenerate and the inflammatory T cells are present. The collagen and elastin dissolve and disintegrate
which will lead to an expansion of the aortic wall. If the pressure in the vessel is too great, the aortic
wall will rupture. An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a ballooning or dilating of the abdominal aorta. An
aneurysm is diagnosed when the diameter of the vessel is greater than 50% of its original diameter.
The aorta is normally two centimeters in diameter at the level or the renal arteries. An aneurysm is
named based off of their location, size and shape. An aneurysm will affect how the vessel is shaped,
therefore causing the blood flow to alter. When an aneurysm is symmetrical on both sides of the aortic
wall it is called fusiform; but if only one side of the wall is dilated, it is saccular. Aneurysms

Martin Luther King Research Paper
In 1996 Samuel Mohammed, a resident of West Palm Beach community, kicked down the door of an
abandoned house within his neighborhood, that was used as a drug house, spread lighter fluid and
started a fire. The night he set the fire he was never far away from the scene. He stood by and watched
as the fire and at the time he deemed appropriate he called the police and the fire station. In response
for setting the fire he was arrested on the charge of arson. His lawyer argued that he was not practicing
arson but he was practicing Civil Disobedience in the traditional of Martin Luther King Jr. The
question the jury was faced was should he be punished as an arsonist or let slide for practicing Civil

Black Law Dictionary defines civil disobedience as the refusal to obey a law because it is unjust or it
is unfair and it is usually nonviolent in behavior. Florida s law against arson in the 1997 Florida

Essay on Prayer in School
Over the years, there has been a very controversial debate on whether there should be prayer
incorporated within the public schools; half the population votes no on the topic. Many individuals
feel that allowing prayer services within the schools will be offensive and time consuming. A common
fear among the people is that there would not be an equal way to recognize everyone s religion. There
would be even more controversy as to which religions should be taught, in what manner, and it s a
very big possibility that one person s religion may offend someone else s which would simply cause
even more controversy.
It is argued that there isn t a way for every religion to be recognized within the public schools to
accommodate everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It becomes very complicated, and there just isn t enough time in the day for it. In the United States,
school is held five days a week for seven hours a day, for one hundred eighty days of each year. There
simply isn t enough time for schools to be holding prayer services in order to meet everyone s
religious needs. Teachers are given a certain amount of information that needs to be covered, taught,
and learned by the end of each year. Based off of how little time there is, it just wouldn t be practical.
Acknowledging religious beliefs also creates diversity among students. By addressing everyone s
faith, it can create a bad sense of discrimination among students. Secular Humanists believe that it s
very possible that by having discussions and prayer services within the school system, it can create
walls and barriers between the children and make clicks even stronger than they are already. This may
introduce differences amongst the children that were not necessarily noticeable or known before hand.
Prayer is often times looked at as a public issue that should be handled privately. Other individuals
have a different on opinion on the matter and feel that having prayer in school would be a positive
attribute. In 1962, there was the Engle decision which focused on Taking God out of the classroom.
Many, often times religious conservative groups, have been fighting for a passage

Texas Government Reflection
I really enjoyed and learned new things about the Texas government. This class was not a usual class

Through this class I understand my weakness and strong side of my learning style and the good and
bad of my style. The online session taught me how I can learn by myself, manage the time and get a
good grade. Usually I just read over the notes and study the material for the tests, but for this class I
have to create my own notes and understand what does it mean. All of the assignments especially the

Hunger Is A Growing Phenomenon
Unfortunately, for the so many people of this world, who are not privileged with the luxury of
satisfying the hunger level of the basic human hierarchical needs, hunger supersedes the mere
headache, nausea, or mood irritability. We have coined the word world hunger to group these
individuals together, and quite frankly, for these individuals, their only concern in the world, is
whether death or their next meal will come first. World hunger is a growing phenomenon that requires
proper understating and a fighting effort from all members of the world as loving caring human
beings.
Hunger is a very uncomfortable feeling for those of us who have the luxury of satisfying the hunger
level of the basic human hierarchical needs. The fortunate side of the world use words such as hunger
pangs, which means an irritation of the lining of the stomach when the stomach empties after the
digestion of a meal, its walls come into contact and rub against each other (Chuckrow, 1997). It is an
unpleasant feeling that can impact the mood of the individual experiencing it. For individuals who can
walk to their food pantries and get a snack, this is rationally the worst type of hunger that they will
ever experience in their life time. That is the pleasant side of hunger.
Analyzing world hunger in its entirety presents numerous ramifications juxtaposed to several elements
that includes but is not limited to undernourishment, famine, poverty, drought, war, starvation,
extreme diseases amongst

The Things A Brother Knows Analysis
The Things A Brother Knows is written by Dana Reinhardt. Life after a war can be tragic and nothing
but pain. For Levi s older brother Boaz, his return wasn t what everyone expected. The dangers of war
can traumatized and stunt the life of any man and cause problems that nobody but ourselves can solve.
Levi sets out on an adventure to help his brother return home and he isn t gonna let anything get in the
way. The reason why I believe this book stands out from others, is because the plots scheme is that out
of the ordinary. There is no other book out there that matches its unique qualities.
Fear is what drives most people to break, but to some it is what drives them to become the person they
want to be in life. The first reason why I enjoyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reading the book gave me a rush that pushed me to keep reading. The book teaches of valuable
lessons about life and dedication. In the story, Levi could have given up halfway through his journey
because that seemed like the only option, but he pushed forward and never quit. Boaz made a promise
to one of his friends that he had met over in Iraq. He takes on a journey that he has spent weeks
preparing for. Levi joins in on this task and only does it because he wants to help out his brother.
Throughout the story, you watch Levi go through with life and mature when he needs to. He steps up
and faces all his challenges head on. Life is what happens to you while you re busy making other
plans. (Lennon. Reinhardt 6) I like the quote they used in the book because it really explains life in a
couple of words. It describes a process that could happen at the blink of an eye, or one that could take
time to occur. It shows the beauty of nature. Reinhardt did a good job at describing the little details
that orchestrate the plot of the story, and at the same time she kept it simple enough to keep you
reading. The theme of this book, I believe, is wanting to mature too quick. The story revolves around
wanting to fill shoes that have never been yours. Levi focuses so much on what everyone else is doing
that he forgets to enjoy himself and focus on his own

Born on the Fourth of July
This book was incredible! In all truth this was the first book I have ever read cover to cover. The book,
by Ron Kovic, as compared to the film, by Oliver Stone, had some impressive similarities. Both the
book and the film did a great job of portraying Ron s childhood in Massapequa, Long Island. From the
little league games to playing war in the woods, leading charges and setting ambushes. This was
especially well done in the movie, and exactly as I pictured them while reading the book. The time
that he spent in Mexico was well defined in the book as well as in the film. While there were many
similarities, what I feel is more important is to focus on the differences.
There were countless small differences in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His parents were also a lot more concerned with him going in the film than they were in the book,
especially his mother. While in the book Kovic makes it extremely clear that the most influential
reason for him joining the Marines was because of the movies he saw as a boy, specifically the Sands
of Iwo Jima and To Hell and Back . He loved the way that Hollywood had glamorized the battles and
the wars. When he thought of war that was what he thought about, John Wayne making a stand, taking
out Japs and Nazi s with quick shots from the hip, all these things. No innocent people were hurt, the
hero always came home and that hero was loved and applauded when he got there. What Kovic found
out was that these ideas were indeed influenced by Hollywood. The hero seldom comes home, and
during these times he was not greeted by screaming fans but by hippies that protested his involvement.
It also seemed that the film did not do a great job of portraying the deplorable conditions of the
veteran s hospitals. Sure they showed some of the crude parts, but for the amount of the book that was
dedicated to exposing what was going on in the VA hospitals the film did not seem to express it.
From what I can tell Oliver Stone did an incredible job making this movie. There were a few
discrepancies between the book and the film, but on the whole I believe

Why We Crave Horror Movies by Stephen King
Essay Analysis of
Why We Crave Horror Movies
Thesis:
Stephen King never clearly states the thesis of this essay however there is enough information
provided that we can infer one. We need to keep our inner lyncher at bay by feeding ourselves with
small portions of demonic, bloody, violence, found in horror movies. King writes It deliberately
appeals to all the worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest
fantasies realized... (Why We Crave Horror Movies, paragraph 12) and by doing so he s implying that
horror movies are like a temporary fix for our violent craves.
Type of essay:
Why We Crave Horror Movies is an informal Cause and Effect essay.
We know the essay is informal because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By answering questions that the reader may have, his objective can remain the focus of the essay.
King goes on to say if, on the other hand, your insanity leads you only to talk to yourself when you re
under stress to pick your nose on your morning bus, then you are left alone to go about your day.
(paragraph 8). This makes the essay relative and more comprehensible for the reader. We all do
slightly crazy things from time to time (whether we want to admit it or not is entirely up to us), so
King is able to use this method to help get his message through to the reader.
One critic has suggested that if pro football has become the voyeur s version of combat, then the
horror film has become the modern version of public lynching. (paragraph 6) This is a prime example
of one of the many argumentative strategies in the essay. Not only does the said quote prove that King
s opinion is shared by others but also that it appeals to authority. By including an experts shared
opinion on the matter, King s argument becomes much more compelling. To show that we can, to
show that we are not afraid, that we can ride this roller coaster (paragraph 3) is an extremely effective
metaphor king uses to help better describe why we go to see movies in the first place. We ve all been
on a roller coaster before so we can easily relate to what the author is explaining to us. King also uses
a personal anecdote as an example of feeding our dark side what it wants; For myself, I

  • 2. The Digestive Systems Organs Work The digestive systems organs work together to help the body turn food into nutrients and energy. Food passes through the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract). The GI tract is made up of the oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestines, and large intestines. There are accessory organs that do not have food pass through them but those organs help with the digestive system. They include the teeth, tongue, salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. The six major functions need to happen in the digestive system and they are ingestion, secretion, mixing and movement, digestion, absorption, and excretion. (Taylor) The oral cavity is the mouth. The mouth has the tongue, teeth, and salivary glands inside it. Once food has entered the mouth, teeth must chop the food into small pieces. The food must be moistened by saliva before it can be push down the pharynx by the tongue and other muscles. There are about 32 small teeth in the body s mouth. The teeth are the hardest substance in the body. They are bone like and covered in a layer of enamel. Under the teeth, the pulp, there are blood vessels and nerves. Teeth are made for grinding and cutting food into smaller pieces. The tongue is located right behind the teeth and is made of muscles covered in a bumpy, thin, skin like layer. The tongue uses those muscles to push food to the back of the mouth for swallowing. The mouth has taste buds on it. When food enters the mouth those taste buds send the taste information ... • 3. CSI And Law Trip Essay Washington CSI and Law Trip Revised Draft There are few trips in life that will be remembered for a lifetime. One of those trips was a trip to Washington, DC, the purpose of which was to teach about CSI and law. The first thing I noticed about the trip was that it was held in a resort that was an almost perfect replica of the White House located in Chantilly, Virginia. Likewise, the sights seen on the trip were the most spectacular I had ever seen. From just arriving at the airport, to staying in a marvelous hotel and university, learning many different things from speakers, seeing many different important landmarks, and socializing with friends, the trip was certainly unrivaled. I began my trip in the summer of 2015. The excitement was immense considering that I was about to embark on one of the most influential trips of my life. I had begun packing my suitcase the day before the trip to make sure that I did not leave anything behind. Packing for the trip was quite long due to packing a substantial amount of clothes and other necessary items. After all, I was having to pack for a week and a half long trip. This task is often quite long and tedious, but it is often satisfying once it is over with. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The airport was not very busy, due to the arrival during nighttime. A lot of stress is often involved with going to the airport because it means one must leave their friends and family behind in order to embark on their trip. The airport I departed from was, Charlotte Douglas International Airport. As soon as I arrived, I raced to the terminal, said goodbye to my family and took the flight to Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC. As I boarded the plane, I thought to myself that this was the first time in my life that was flying solo. Although it was kind of an eerie thought, I learned to cope with ... • 4. NEASC Accreditation Process Good Morning EDL 605: It was nice seeing you all Thursday night. I hope you are enjoying the weekend. This past Thursday, I attempted to illustrate how the NEASC accreditation process drives school improvement. My experience with the accreditation process at Coventry High School and Amity Regional High School is common in all public high schools in the state of Connecticut, and across New England. It is also a common experience in institutions of higher education. Sacred Heart s teacher preparation program is currently going through the process of revising practices to align with accrediting agency expectations. I can virtually guarantee that this process will improve the quality of teacher prep programming at Sacred Heart. It is important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Cost Of The Cadillac Tax Intentions of the Tax One of the primary goals of the Cadillac tax is to reduce the growing costs of national health care (Lowry 2015). The government is hopeful that implementation of the Cadillac tax will reduce overall health care expenditures and impede the growth of health care costs by encouraging a change in consumer behavior through discouraging the provision and obtainment of overly generous health coverage plans (Herring, 2011). Generally, individuals who are insured spend greater amounts on health care than those who are not as they can consume greater amounts of healthcare with a lesser personal burden. In the case that the insurance provided to an individual is overly generous, it encourages over spending on health care due to the fact that they incur a only a portion of costs of consumption. In this manner, the consumption of an inefficient amount of health care is perpetuated by the provision of overly generous health care coverage. This inefficiency and associated increase in demand for healthcare causes the price of healthcare to rise, which exacerbates the undesirable growth in national health care costs (Gravelle, 2015). The Cadillac tax aims to discourage the provision and obtainment of overly generous health care coverage by employers in an effort to decrease inefficient over consumption of health care and stagnate the growth in healthcare costs. The intent of the Cadillac tax is to alter consumer behavior to decrease the provision of unnecessarily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Examples Of Vengeance In Beowulf While today revenge is regarded as an impolite and impractical practice, in times past it was normalized, even celebrated. Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant and the acclaimed Anglo Saxon poem Beowulf describe vengeance as a ceremonious cornerstone of British, Saxon, Geat, and Danish society. In these societies partaking in revenge was widely regarded as noble and morally upright, though from a modern perspective these acts of vengeance would be regarded a petty and unjust. While characters in both The Buried Giant and Beowulf liberally practice and celebrate revenge, Ishiguro and Beowulf s Anglo Saxon author seem to critique the medium which their characters observe. The idea of vengeance is present throughout the entirety of The Buried Giant: each prominent character partaking and celebrating their own retaliatory scheme. One notable example of vengeance within the novel occurs between Axl and Beatrice. As the reader nears the end of the novel they come to learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, vengeance plays such a pinnacle role in Beowulf that Beowulf himself states, It is always better / to avenge dear ones than to indulge in mourning (Beowulf, 1384 1385, 37). In an act of retaliation for the terrorization of Herot, Bowulf seeks out, and eventually murders, Grendel. Grendel s mother then attacks Herot, in retaliation for the murder of her son. Beowulf then kills Grendel s mother to avenge those she killed during her conquest of Herot. Hrothgar encourages Beowulf to seek out vengeance by saying, My household guards / are on wane, fate sweeps them away / into Grendel s clutches but God can easily / halt these raids and harrowing attacks (Beowulf,476 469, 14). In this verse Hrothgar suggest that, with God s aide, Beowulf can easily overtake Grendel. After slaying Grendel, Beowulf s victorious act of vengeance was celebrated with a massive feast at Herot and rewarded with an invaluable amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Insurance, Liability, And Liability Essay Insurance and Liability As previously noted, we anticipate that the instances of car accidents will decrease with the use of HAVs. Nonetheless, car accidents are always a possibility and car accidents with HAVs pose the unique question, Is the driver liable or is the manufacturer liable? HAVs will ultimately develop into more autonomously functioning vehicles, operating without much human assistance. If such an autonomously functioning car were part of a car accident, the manufacturer s liability would certainly increase. However, the first commercially available HAVs will involve the vehicle sharing the driving responsibility with the human driver. Establishing liability in this gray area is a challenge that Maryland will take on. Also, car insurance premiums will likely increase for the consumer, which is an important consideration because that translates to less disposable income in the pocket of the driver. Technology One of the primary concerns is ensuring a two tier system guaranteeing that if one system fails (i.e. the car s autonomous system), there is a warning system to inform the driver to take control of the vehicle. The safety of the driver has to remain the number one concern. The intricate technology used on HAVs is what makes their smart driving capabilities work safely. However, as long as painters understand this kind of painting, different painting tools will achieve different results. According to Zheng(2008:30 32),in the study of painting, students need to know the history of the development of painting tools, and the basic knowledge of how to use the painting tools, that will help them to create their own paintings. In conclusion, it is important for the painter to understand and use the appropriate drawing tools. The point and line to plane (Kandinsky 1979:6) is the painting element, such as the letters that make up the word, different combinations will have different effects. As Kandinsky (1979:12) has demonstrated, that point, line and plane is the basic building material of the artwork itself, and that in every different art the elements of art are certainly different. • 12. Oskar Schindler Argumentative Essay Over 11 million people died in the holocaust, and more than 7 million of them were Jewish. Oskar Schindler was an entrepreneur who sacrificed himself for a cause he believed was unjust. He spent most of his life around Germany in Europe. During the Holocaust, he saved over 1,200 people from the gas chambers. There are some people who don t think of him as a hero, but as a man looking to make an easy dollar. In my opinion Oskar Schindler was a hero of the highest class and deserves all the credit he received for his actions. When Oskar was born in 1908, no one could ve guessed he would have such an impact on the world. When Oskar was a young boy, he adored his father and strived to be like him. His Father and Mother were both German, even though he was born in Zwittau, Hungary. His Father, Johann, owned a farm machinery business that Oskar eventually worked at. He had one sister, named Elfriede, who was seven years younger than him. After Oskar attended primary and secondary school, he enrolled in a technical school. The Matching Book Method The Matching Book Method allows managers to decide in which period transactions are to be recorded. Thus, this method is the most powerful method in income smoothing. The Channel Stuffing Method The Channel Stuffing Method is a tool used to inflate sales within a company by selling goods to customers that did not order them in first place. Conclusion Smoothing of income is an undeniable practice used by accountants to favour the companies current needs, therefore it can be showing rather higher or lower earnings than the actual latter. There are several methods through which this practice is applied depending on the preferences as well as on the requirements of the people interested in the financial statements. • 15. How Does Atwood Use Language In The Handmaids Tale How does Atwood presents the importance of language in The Handmaid s Tale? Throughout the novel, we see evidence of indoctrination in all of the characters. This indoctrination process appears to be primarily carried out by Gilead s manipulation of language among its residents. Language is a powerful tool in shaping our thoughts and how we behave; the control and exploitation of discourse in the regime shows us not only this, but also how language can provide power as well as take it away. Gilead s government relies heavily on language from the bible to help maintain its theocratic dictatorship. It does this by taking religious quotes such as Give me children or else I die out of context and bending the meaning to impose their ideologies. A quote that is made to be taken quite literally in Gilead as the women are told it is their sole purpose to reproduce and if they do not they are an unwoman a disturbing term which implies that in the eyes of Gilead, unless the women meet its ideology, they are useless and their humanity is taken away from them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to keep in mind that this is a theoretical model. Real data does not exist, and the model does not precisely describe reality. (Amacher Pate, 2012) The perfect competition model is based on defined assumptions which prevent its adaptation into a real life economy; however it is often described as the baseline model to compare all other structures. These assumptions are: (1.) Large volume of buyers and sellers: A perfect competition market has many buyers and sellers so none are able to influence the market. (2.) Homogenous products: All producers generate the same product with no differentiation. (3.) Excellent or perfect knowledge: Buyers and sellers have an extensive amount of information about the product and other producers. (4.) Free entry and exit into the market: Firms are able to allocate resources in and out of this market easily with little expense. (5.) Firms are able to quickly to respond to a changing consumer demand. (6.)Workers and other resources are easily moved in and out of the industry. While there is not one organization which is able to meet all of these assumptions, one of the best examples to illustrate a perfect competition market structure is the agricultural model. One side of the debate asserts that homosexual behavior is against God s will, and is wrong because we are all obligated to do God s will, God s will is expressed in the Bible, and the Bible forbids homosexual behavior (Craig). This debate is called the traditional Christian argument. Although the argument is valid, I will argue against the conclusion that homosexual behavior is not against God s will and is not wrong, because the second and third premises of the argument are not sound. The second premise of the traditional Christian argument is unsound because God s will is not expressed in the Bible. Before stating what makes the second premise unsound, I will consider reasoning one could give in support of it. Among the many denominations of Christianity, Catholicism is easily able to support the second premise of the traditional Christian argument from the Vatican s Declaration on Some Questions of Sexual Ethics . The declaration strongly asserts that moral reasoning is not a human construct, but rather it comes from God. God is all knowing and all good as his plan for salvation was conceived in wisdom and love (Pope Paul VI). The Use Of Silicone Products For Breast Implants Background Biomaterials, whether from natural or synthetic origin, have been used for many biomedical applications ranging from surgery to drug delivery (1). Of particular interest is the use of silicone products for breast implants, which are medical prostheses serving to augment or reconstruct breasts (1). To date, silicone is one of the most commonly used materials for plastic surgery procedures in North America (1, 2). The first silicone breast implants were developed in 1961 and were available for use by 1962. At that time, there was limited awareness on the safety and efficacy of silicone in breast implants, but this view changed when attention was drawn to repeated reports involving adverse reactions after implantation (1, 3 5). This led to a moratorium on silicone breast implants in 1992 by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (5). After extensive research, the majority of results concluded that there were no major harmful effects associated with silicone products. In 2006, FDA approved the use of silicone products in breast implants, which currently leaves silicone as the only available material for this purpose (3, 5, 6). Since that time, there has been controversy around the nature and associated complications related to silicone products in breast implants (1, 2, 5). This is reflected by the current body of literature, and seems to result from a lack of consistency in the methodologies used to determine the mechanisms underlying silicone transport, uptake, ... It is caused by weakness in the aortic wall. In the aortic wall, the media is mostly affected because it is the thickest. There are instances where dilation of the wall can occur, but to the outermost layer and this is not a typical aneurysm. It is known as a false aneurysm or a pseudoaneurysm. When the outermost layer is dilated, often times the inner or medial wall will rupture, but the outer wall will still be intact. The extracellular matrix proteins degenerate and the inflammatory T cells are present. The collagen and elastin dissolve and disintegrate which will lead to an expansion of the aortic wall. If the pressure in the vessel is too great, the aortic wall will rupture. An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a ballooning or dilating of the abdominal aorta. An aneurysm is diagnosed when the diameter of the vessel is greater than 50% of its original diameter. The aorta is normally two centimeters in diameter at the level or the renal arteries. An aneurysm is named based off of their location, size and shape. An aneurysm will affect how the vessel is shaped, therefore causing the blood flow to alter. • 30. Texas Government Reflection I really enjoyed and learned new things about the Texas government. This class was not a usual class for me, usually I take in class sessions, so it was little challenging for me the way I learn things. Through this class I understand my weakness and strong side of my learning style and the good and bad of my style. The online session taught me how I can learn by myself, manage the time and get a good grade. Usually I just read over the notes and study the material for the tests, but for this class I have to create my own notes and understand what does it mean. All of the assignments especially the focus free writing, helped me to understand about the Texas government and how does it works. The reading assignments were so interesting, usually ... • 31. Hunger Is A Growing Phenomenon Unfortunately, for the so many people of this world, who are not privileged with the luxury of satisfying the hunger level of the basic human hierarchical needs, hunger supersedes the mere headache, nausea, or mood irritability. We have coined the word world hunger to group these individuals together, and quite frankly, for these individuals, their only concern in the world, is whether death or their next meal will come first. World hunger is a growing phenomenon that requires proper understating and a fighting effort from all members of the world as loving caring human beings. Hunger is a very uncomfortable feeling for those of us who have the luxury of satisfying the hunger level of the basic human hierarchical needs. The fortunate side of the world use words such as hunger pangs, which means an irritation of the lining of the stomach when the stomach empties after the digestion of a meal, its walls come into contact and rub against each other (Chuckrow, 1997). It is an unpleasant feeling that can impact the mood of the individual experiencing it. For individuals who can walk to their food pantries and get a snack, this is rationally the worst type of hunger that they will ever experience in their life time. That is the pleasant side of hunger. Analyzing world hunger in its entirety presents numerous ramifications juxtaposed to several elements that includes but is not limited to undernourishment, famine, poverty, drought, war, starvation, extreme diseases amongst ... • 34. The Things A Brother Knows Analysis The Things A Brother Knows is written by Dana Reinhardt. Life after a war can be tragic and nothing but pain. For Levi s older brother Boaz, his return wasn t what everyone expected. The dangers of war can traumatized and stunt the life of any man and cause problems that nobody but ourselves can solve. Levi sets out on an adventure to help his brother return home and he isn t gonna let anything get in the way. The reason why I believe this book stands out from others, is because the plots scheme is that out of the ordinary. There is no other book out there that matches its unique qualities. Fear is what drives most people to break, but to some it is what drives them to become the person they want to be in life. The first reason why I enjoyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reading the book gave me a rush that pushed me to keep reading. The book teaches of valuable lessons about life and dedication. In the story, Levi could have given up halfway through his journey because that seemed like the only option, but he pushed forward and never quit. Boaz made a promise to one of his friends that he had met over in Iraq. He takes on a journey that he has spent weeks preparing for. Levi joins in on this task and only does it because he wants to help out his brother. Throughout the story, you watch Levi go through with life and mature when he needs to. He steps up and faces all his challenges head on. Life is what happens to you while you re busy making other plans. (Lennon. Reinhardt 6) I like the quote they used in the book because it really explains life in a couple of words. It describes a process that could happen at the blink of an eye, or one that could take time to occur. It shows the beauty of nature. Reinhardt did a good job at describing the little details that orchestrate the plot of the story, and at the same time she kept it simple enough to keep you reading. The theme of this book, I believe, is wanting to mature too quick. The story revolves around wanting to fill shoes that have never been yours. Levi focuses so much on what everyone else is doing that he forgets to enjoy himself and focus on his own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. born on the 4th of july Essay Born on the Fourth of July This book was incredible! In all truth this was the first book I have ever read cover to cover. The book, by Ron Kovic, as compared to the film, by Oliver Stone, had some impressive similarities. Both the book and the film did a great job of portraying Ron s childhood in Massapequa, Long Island. From the little league games to playing war in the woods, leading charges and setting ambushes. This was especially well done in the movie, and exactly as I pictured them while reading the book. The time that he spent in Mexico was well defined in the book as well as in the film. While there were many similarities, what I feel is more important is to focus on the differences. There were countless small differences in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His parents were also a lot more concerned with him going in the film than they were in the book, especially his mother. While in the book Kovic makes it extremely clear that the most influential reason for him joining the Marines was because of the movies he saw as a boy, specifically the Sands of Iwo Jima and To Hell and Back . He loved the way that Hollywood had glamorized the battles and the wars. When he thought of war that was what he thought about, John Wayne making a stand, taking out Japs and Nazi s with quick shots from the hip, all these things. No innocent people were hurt, the hero always came home and that hero was loved and applauded when he got there. What Kovic found out was that these ideas were indeed influenced by Hollywood. The hero seldom comes home, and during these times he was not greeted by screaming fans but by hippies that protested his involvement. It also seemed that the film did not do a great job of portraying the deplorable conditions of the veteran s hospitals. Sure they showed some of the crude parts, but for the amount of the book that was dedicated to exposing what was going on in the VA hospitals the film did not seem to express it. From what I can tell Oliver Stone did an incredible job making this movie. There were a few discrepancies between the book and the film, but on the whole I believe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Why We Crave Horror Movies by Stephen King Essay Analysis of Why We Crave Horror Movies Thesis: Stephen King never clearly states the thesis of this essay however there is enough information provided that we can infer one. We need to keep our inner lyncher at bay by feeding ourselves with small portions of demonic, bloody, violence, found in horror movies. King writes It deliberately appeals to all the worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest fantasies realized... (Why We Crave Horror Movies, paragraph 12) and by doing so he s implying that horror movies are like a temporary fix for our violent craves. Type of essay: Why We Crave Horror Movies is an informal Cause and Effect essay. We know the essay is informal because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By answering questions that the reader may have, his objective can remain the focus of the essay. King goes on to say if, on the other hand, your insanity leads you only to talk to yourself when you re under stress to pick your nose on your morning bus, then you are left alone to go about your day. (paragraph 8). This makes the essay relative and more comprehensible for the reader. We all do slightly crazy things from time to time (whether we want to admit it or not is entirely up to us), so King is able to use this method to help get his message through to the reader. One critic has suggested that if pro football has become the voyeur s version of combat, then the horror film has become the modern version of public lynching. (paragraph 6) This is a prime example of one of the many argumentative strategies in the essay. Not only does the said quote prove that King s opinion is shared by others but also that it appeals to authority. By including an experts shared opinion on the matter, King s argument becomes much more compelling. To show that we can, to show that we are not afraid, that we can ride this roller coaster (paragraph 3) is an extremely effective metaphor king uses to help better describe why we go to see movies in the first place. We ve all been on a roller coaster before so we can easily relate to what the author is explaining to us. King also uses a personal anecdote as an example of feeding our dark side what it wants; For myself, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
