The Meaning Of Figurative Language In Debt By Sara Teasdale
2. The speaker in the poem Debt is the author, Sara Teasdale. By what she is saying, one can infer that
she cannot commit to the person who loves her, and vies for the person who is unattainable. The
rejection of the person who doesn t love her may motivate Teasdale to love harder and become more
obsessed with gaining his attention.
3. Teasdale is trying to almost apologize to the person who loves her deeply because she cannot feel
the same for him, instead loving the person who pays her no attention. If she embraced the love of the
person who gave it to her, there would be no internal conflict, thus the poem wouldn t exist.
4. The title of the poem, Debt, is significant to how Teasdale feels about her admirer, indebted. She
implies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of sensory imagery used in Debt is never gave my spirit wings. Spirit and wings could
be both aurally and meaning rich because Teasdale uses them to illustrate a scene of how she is
unhappy with how she feels with her suitor. Because she uses wings, the reader can infer that Teasdale
feels trapped because her former suitor wants her to reciprocate his feelings. Moreover, in the second
stanza, the lines I owe the little open gate that led through heaven s wall appeals to the readers minds,
painting a picture of what Teasdale feels as if she owes to the person she contends for. By saying that
she owes the little open gate, she depicts a scene where Heaven, or in this case, everything she can
give, as blocked off and closed off. Teasdale desires for it to be portrayed this way because it allows
the reader to infer that she is willing to sacrifice almost everything to get the little open gate that led
through heaven s wall for the person she

Analysis Of Katharine Cook Briggs And Her Daughter, Isabel...
Have you ever wondered why you get along with your best friends? Or maybe you are dying to know
why particular coworkers get under your skin. Perhaps routine quarreling with your cousin frustrates
you. Well, once I concluded after much research that I am the ENFJ personality type, I learned not
only how my type relates to the ESTJ type, but also that each person s unique perception of the world
causes many social conflicts due to individuals perceiving and responding to things opposite from
their peers. In order to better understand myself and others, I turned to the reliable, comprehensive
Jung typology test developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. This
test is based on the work of famous early twentieth century psychologist Carl Jung. The test
determines one s personality type based on four parameters an introverted/extraverted scale, an
intuition/sensing scale, a feeling/thinking scale, and a judging/perceiving scale. By answering a series
of questions aimed at determining specific behavioral functions and dispositions, the applicant is
given four letters corresponding with the four parameters to represent his or her personality. Sixteen
letter combinations representing sixteen different personalities are possible. After taking multiple
typology tests offered by various websites and sifting through the often conflicting results, I concluded
that I am an ENFJ personality type. First, I took the test offered by Humanmetrics, which

Cynthia Barnett Water Work
Among all of the resources in the world, there is one that we do not often consider to be diminishing.
The masses take this resource, water, for granted. When the average person takes a single look at a
world map, they see multiple blue oceans covering the Earth. But, although we are surrounded by
water, our clean water reserves dwindle rapidly. In her article, Water Works , Cynthia Barnett attempts
to bring this issue to greater light and offers her own solutions. While I agree with many of Barnett s
points, she fails to look at the arguments of her detractors to the detriment of her already flawed case.
Throughout the article, Barnett analyses the idea of water scarcity. She accentuates the fact that aging
infrastructure hampers our ability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her argument is focused on the Pacific Northwest, our rainy marine paradise. She speaks to a specific
population, citing the cultural significance of the salmon in this area (Barnett 2013). Unfortunately for
her message, this ignores the ranging climates and situations around the world, where her solutions
may not be as effective. While this may be persuasive towards the generally liberal population in the
region that likely already agrees with her, it offers little for people who live in drier regions. Even
within the United States, I have my doubts that Barnett s suggestions would work. For example, desert
regions in California and plains in the Midwest would not benefit from these ideas. The article s
biggest failing, however, is the view of the rest of the world. As Dr. Pierre Mukheibir, a civil engineer
with over 20 years experience in the water sector, points out in his article that about 1.2 billion people
live without access to clean drinking water. These people do not live in the Pacific Northwest, they
mostly live in developing countries in Africa (Mukheibir 1028). I think our resources and knowledge
would be better spent focusing on the lives of those suffering from the deprivation of human rights
instead of pinpointing specific areas and peoples in the United

The Goal Of The Accounting And Audit Professions Essay
The goal of the accounting and audit professions is to provide statements and information on behalf of
a firm that are reliable and relevant to users. In order to accomplish this goal, the accounting and audit
professions have continuously evolved in order to meet the needs of said users. In this new age of
accounting, we feel the need for accountants and auditors to further modify their methodology and
process. With the focus of accounting and auditing staying the same, we in the profession must be sure
to strive to produce valuable information to the end users. First we will discuss the importance of
intangibles and their value to a company. This value is being under disclosed using traditional
accounting methods, and therefore the accounting profession must be modified in order to properly
value intangibles when presenting users with the finished financial statements. Secondly, this paper
will divulge into how the effects of corporate disclosures through new media may inadvertently force
auditing profession to adapt accordingly. Due to corporations having the ability to disclose earnings
using new media, the users of this information need to be able to recognize that it is trustworthy.
Lastly, the idea of new emerging technologies causing the auditing profession to change will be
discussed. While companies have yet to adapt the mainstream use of computer systems, the future of
bookkeeping will most likely be done entirely by computer systems, thereby rendering the

Hamlet And Ophelia
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, there were many important characters just like Hamlet
who show up in more than three fourths of the play; but there are also characters that don t necessarily
show up as much but still have a strong role. One of the characters that didn t get as much screen time
but was still important was Ophelia. Ophelia was a sister, girlfriend, and daughter that so many people
loved. Therefore, Despite the lack of presence of Ophelia, she ultimately played a big role in the lives
of a lot of the characters. Throughout the play, Hamlet and Ophelia have a very strong love
connection. They loved each other and wanted to eventually get married. Hamlet and Ophelia hit some
bumps in the road in their relationship but they always secretly wanted to be together. In Act 1, Scene
3, It was hard for Ophelia to comprehend when Polonius told her that he thought Hamlet s love for her
wasn t real, but she didn t know what to believe. When Hamlet could no longer see Ophelia he began
to get mad a frustrated, to add on also that he was going crazy over his own father s death. Another
time Ophelia was important in Hamlet s life was after not seeing Ophelia for a while Hamlet stumbles
upon a grave site being dug in the middle of the woods, but at the time he doesn t know who for.
When Hamlet find out that Ophelia is the one that is being put to rest he starts to go crazy again. He
says I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers, if you added all their love together, couldn t match
mine. What are you going to do for her? ( V, I, pg.12. lines 247 249). Hamlet is basically trying to say
that even if they don t believe him he really did love Ophelia. Gertrude responded by saying, This is
pure insanity. He ll be like this for a little while (V, I, pg. 12 lines 247 249). When Gertrude says this
she basically means that he has gone crazy before that this is normal he will calm down soon. Therefor
Ophelia played a huge role in Hamlet s life without necessarily being there all of the time. Ophelia and
Laertes also had a very important relationship as brother and sister. Although they didn t get to see
each other all of the time they both played a big role in each other s lives. In Act

Command and Control Policy Introduction Climate change poses a huge risk to human beings and
natural system hence the need for policies to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions to the environment
and the damages caused by the rapidly changing climate. This is the reason countries like the United
States of America enacted command and control policies to try and curb the rate of pollution of the
environment (Davies Mazurek, 2014 ). This paper will explain the command and control policy, give

When the quantities of environmental protection are low for an extensive for an extensive pollution,
then there exists a variety of cheap and easy ways to reduce pollution hence an increase in marginal
benefits. However, if the event that an environmental protection rises, then cheap and readily available
ways of reducing pollution start to decrease hence requiring more costly methods to be employed. As
the extent of environmental regulation rises, additional expenditures related to environmental
protection will most likely lead to increased marginal costs and decreased marginal benefits. This
pattern would suggest that the cost savings and flexibility nature of market oriented environmental
policies would be very important (Harrington Morgenstern, 2013).

The Pros And Cons Of College Sports
Sports can have an effect on many people, and that effect is basically allowing people to forget about
the problems that are going on in the world. Many of the problems are usually nationwide, or the
problems could be individual problems. Sports provide an opportunity for fans to come together and
share a common interest. Also, sports on the collegiate level presents an even bigger opportunity for
fans to come together because of the many diverse schools. Studies show that colleges and universities
are education driven, but sports can provide organizations with an opportunity to upgrade facilities, as

If high school sports are about having fun, making friends, and representing your school, college
sports are about those things, but also about making money and obtaining national recognition for the
college, which may enable it to attract more applicants and more financial support from alumni and
friends. (Porto, 2014). The NCAA was formed when President Theodore Roosevelt called for safer
practices in college football due to the amount of injuries and deaths that were causing many schools
to question whether or not their school should continue to participate in sports. The NCAA was more
of a group that met in order to discuss the landscape of collegiate sports and to develop rules for the
participating sports.
Additionally, in 1921 the first ever NCAA National Championship was implemented and from there
addtional sports was added which lead to the need for a more formal governing body. Sports and
sporting events can have both positive and negative effects on the education system. Although, many
people usually enjoy a fun sporting event. The
NCAA s structure consists of governing bodies that oversee legislative bodies in that are made up of
volunteers of the participating schools. These committees manage

In The Angel of Death with the Proud King and the Devout Man in Arabian Nights, Shahrazad is
trying to convey the importance of faith and faithfulness to the king. In the past, he has always
overlooked the importance of religion and faith, and how it can affect the choices he makes.
Shahrazad conveys this when she tells the king the story of The Angel of Death with the Proud King
and the Devout Man. In this story, when the proud king, who does not consider himself a devout man,

impact on his outcome in life. The second time the Angel of Death

Ethics Of Compassion Essay
Ethics of compassion To help explain the ethics of compassion I will be using reference from the
Dalia Lama s book Ethics for the New Millennium, more specifically chapter ten; The Need for
Discernment, and chapter 5 The Supreme Emotion. I will also refer to Touching Peace, and the five
mindfulness trainings. The Dalia Lama had so many strong points it was hard to find any criticisms in
his philosophies. One thing that concerned me was how he recognizes people who kill and torture for
pleasure. The other point he made that came across as weaker to me or somewhat questionable is that
we are to question whether our motive is genuinely compassionate when considered in relation to the
totality of all beings. As for the strong points keeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dalai Lama felt this to be entirely appropriate, and very necessary, In that it shows two sides of
human potential. I agree with him on this completely and I think the fact they made this memorial like
this makes it more than just a memorial, it is also art. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that the
existence of negative potential does not give us grounds to suppose that human nature is inherently
violent. The next question to think about is, what about those who kill and torture for pleasure? Here
he is talking about people like Hilter, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. In these types of people there is a
lacking of the basic impulse toward care and affection for others. There is a commonality between all
of them, that their schemes were carried out in accordance to a perverted vision. They all have goals
towards which they were working. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that killers come from a
particular society, time and place. Also we should recognize the role of the imaginative faculty in their
actions. Although I can understand these things, I think it comes awful close to making excuses for the
horrible actions that these people have been in charge of. By the use to which this faculty is put
determines whether actions it conceives are positive or negative, ethical or unethical. The individuals
motivation in this is known as Kun

The National Security Agency Is Too Dependent Upon Cryptology
Our government and military are too dependent upon cryptology to ensure secure and authentic
communication. It is so profound that it led to the creation an entire federal agency, the National
Security Agency, whose primary purpose is to create and analyze cryptologic methods, and whose
published vision includes global cryptologic dominance. The first and most recent spectacular round
of surveillance came during the First World War and what became of it after all was said and done.
Fearing subversion by German Americans after declaring war on Germany in 1917, the FBI and
Military Intelligence expanded from insignificant bureaucrats into agencies, with god like abilities,
tasked with extinguishing any flame of disloyalty at any place in America, whether by words or
action. Only 9 percent of the country s population then had telephones, so this made monitoring the

Dominican Republic Dictator Rafael Trujillo
Dominican Republic Dictator: Rafael Trujillo
Brief History
When studying the history of the Dominican Republic, one can observe the tensions between different
ethnicities, the several occupations, the many struggles due to military rule, the fights that demanded
independence, and the powerful dictators who left major impact on the country. In fact, according to
political scientist Howard J. Wiarada, the Dominican Republic is just a small representation of Latin
America.
After the brutal revolts against its motherland, Spain, the Dominican Republic finally declared its
independence in 1821. But the independence was shortly lived, because in the following year, Haiti
dominated the country, oppressing the citizens under their rule. Fortunately, the Dominican Republic
was able to declare independence for the second time in 1844, but the country was still not in rest.
After President Pedro Santana was elected, he returned the country to Spanish rule. In effect, the

Essay On My Brother Sam Is Dead
War: The Real Price To Be Paid In war the dead pay the debts for the living, (Collier and Collier 167).
The real cost of war is so great that the thought of paying the price is rather unfathomable. In My
Brother Sam Is Dead by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier we get a glimpse into the lives
of not only the Meekers but the people of their town and we observe the price they paid for one of the
biggest and most powerful wars of our American history, The American Revolution. In this historical

rebellious and freedom yearning American Patriot like his role model and brother, Sam Meeker. By 13

Something as simple as perspective among Eliphalet and Sam tears the Meeker family apart. In My
Brother Sam Is Dead by Collier and Collier talk about how people of all ages fought in the war. Yale
students did rush away to get weapons and join the war in 1775. (Collier and Collier 214). Sam was
one of those Yale students who went to fight and among him, as explained in the previous quote, were
many others. Although Sam thought highly of leaving school to fight Eliphalet Meeker felt otherwise.
Eliphalet Meeker says to Sam, Now take off that uniform and go back to your studies. We also see a
clash of generations with the adults in Redding who are also against war. Mr. Beach, the Pastor of the
Anglican church in Redding, says, God meant man to obey. He meant children to obey their fathers,
he meant men to obey their kings. The constant argument between the generations is whether or not
the younger generations should even have any input when it came to the war. This constant clash of
generations was not only causing issues between Loyalists and Patriots but also causing problems
between the generations that comprise each side.
In My Brother Sam Is Dead by Collier and Collier the general argument between Eliphalet and Sam
has to do with Sam ideals of war and Eliphalet s realities of war. Sam says, It s not the money, it s the
principle. (Collier and Collier 21). Sam fights for his principle of freedom and the glory of war.

Theme Of Women In A Doll s House
How the Need for Independence Contributed to the Failure of Marriage in Ibsen s A Doll s House
The play, A Doll s House, was written by Henrik Ibsen in the year 1879. In this time period, men and
women were not equal. The main protagonist, Nora, had decisions decided for her throughout her life.
At a certain point, she realized it was time for her to seek independence. This search for self
sufficiency caused many issues in her marriage.
From early on in the play, it is apparent how submissive Nora is to her husband, Torvald: You haven t
any idea how many expenses we skylarks and squirrels have, Torvald (14). He uses pet names such as
squirrel and spendthrift to address Nora, comparing her to feeble animals. These are metaphors that
Ibsen uses to display how most women were treated in this time period. They were seen as objects or
fragile little animals that needed the protection of a man. Nora goes along with these names and even
refers to herself as them in order to please him and get what she wants, which is usually money.
Torvald is controlling and possessive when it comes to Nora, but she doesn t know any better because
her dad treated her in a similar manner. She s the mother of three kids and a woman, so work is not a
realistic option for her. This is another reason why she s so dependent on Torvald for money.
Although Nora was a naive seeming young woman, she did yearn to feel independent as well. When
speaking with her friend Mrs. Linde she often boasted about

social class to another. Social mobility is different around and some countries have less chances of the

African Americans in World War Ii
For many African Americans, the war offered an opportunity to get out of the cycle of crushing rural
poverty. Black joined the military in large numbers, escaping a decade of Depression and tenant
farming in the South and Midwest. Yet, like the rest of America in the 1940s, the armed forces were
segregated. The Army accepted black enlistees but created separate black infantry regiments and
assigned white commanders to them. Of the more than 2.5 million African Americans who registered
for the draft in WWII, about 900,000 served in the Army. But about only 50,000 African Americans
were allowed to serve in combat. African American soldiers and civilians fought a two front battle

For at least one serviceman from Wichita, Kansas, the irony of being asked to die for a country that
denied him basic civil rights was too much. James Thompson wrote to the Pittsburg Courier, and
asked Should I sacrifice to live half American? The newspaper responded by calling for a Double V
campaign. The campaign borrowed on the well known two finger V for Victory salute from Winston
Churchill. The paper proclaimed that blacks should work for the victory of democracy both at home
and abroad. The Double V campaign caught on. Civil rights leaders such as A. Philip Randolph saw
the unique situation created by World War II and the acute need for workers as an opportunity to
demand equality. In 1941 Randolph threatened President Roosevelt with a 100,000 person march on
Washington, D.C., to protest job discrimination. In response, Roosevelt issued Executive Order 8802,
prohibiting discrimination in defense jobs or the government. On the home front, the U.S. government
desperately needed workers to fill newly created defense jobs and factory positions left open by
soldiers who had left to fight. More than two million African Americans went to work for defense
plants, and another two million joined the federal civil service. As these new opportunities drew more
and more African Americans into cities, they opened the way for economic mobility. As the war
dragged on, it affected American society at nearly every level. It shook up

Virtual Reality ( Vr )
After standing in line at Best Buy for over an hour, I was finally given the chance to try a new piece of
technology I had been following for several years. They fastened a thick headset over my face and I
was instantly transported to a different world. Here, my hands held a bow and arrow and I began to
shoot countless enemies to defend a kingdom from certain ruin. I was now a part of something that
what was once fantasy and now only possible in this alternate world. These digital universes are now
possible thanks to the recent introduction of Virtual Reality (VR), a piece of tech that allows the user
to enter digitally created realms. The technology consists of a headset (that a user would place on their
head), which covers one s face and sight with a big thick dome. Inside that dome is a screen that
projects into the user s eyes, creating a world in which they can feel and interact in. The user can look
around and touch things with their body, just like in the real world. This helps to make someone feel
immersed in an alternate reality, hence the name Virtual Reality. This device has definitely had a big
impact on the tech world and is a game changer to many. Because this device so new, it has yet to
catch on with the general masses, leading many to think that this will not be the next big thing. Many
believe the tech to be just another fad that will die out, as with Nintendo s Wii and its motion gaming.

between growing seasons. This is a good way to improve soil health and it also creates another
grazing area for livestock.
There are three main types of forages in Australia: sorghum, millet, and cover crops.
The first mentioned, sorghum, is the best known of the three. Although sorghum can be harvested as
grain, it is also used as a forage crop. Sorghum has a very high production potential which makes it a
great feed source for livestock. There are two main hybrids of sorghum that are grown in Australia,
and they are: sudan x sorghum where the bulk of this feed is available in the summer and autumn and
sweet sorghum where the bulk of feed is available in autumn. Although sorghum is a great feed
source, it does have a fault. The sorghum plants produce a toxic prussic acid when they are young and
if the plants are grazed by livestock during this period, it could be fatal to the livestock.

Temperate millet has an advantage because it is the first forage available for grazing in the spring. But,
it only produces well in temperate like climates near the coast. Temperate millet also needs to be
grazed regularly to maintain the feed quality. It is planted starting in August. Hybrid millet is desired
by farmers in dryer growing conditions. The feed from the hybrid millet crop is mostly available in the
later summer and into autumn. Although it can be a good feed source, it is unpalatable to livestock.

Suffragettes Movement
One of the most inspiring and empowering time for women worldwide was when we fought for the
right to be heard. Putting their lives on the line, as was the case more for the Suffragists, or leading
community rallies, as the Suffragettes, there was no stopping the inevitable. Women would win the
right to vote. No doubt the party bus rentals were going nuts in 1918. I m often touted by friends for
not being realistic enough for the topic I spend so much time supporting, but I believe, even with all
the horrors many women endure, that women can and will unite to free themselves. It may take many
more years I m not a prophet, but I know the strength of female energy. We carry life and give birth. I

The Suffrage Movement Beginning in 1848 the worldwide women s rights movement eventually
included forty three different countries. The basic rally was for women to be given the equalities of
men. Groups were fighting for different laws to be changed within the cultural boundaries of their
country, but the bottom line was and still is, that women demand more respect. The two major players
on the stage of change for women were known as the Suffragist and the Suffragettes. These two
fractions of the whole succeeded in supporting each other to victory. Some would still argue that
women, even in developed countries, still have a long way to go before the male/female playing field
is completely level. Suffragist Both groups were passionate about their cause, however the Suffragist
were more militant about getting their message heard. By today s standards obstructing traffic and
heckling wouldn t be considered assaulting, but in the early 1900s it quickly got you thrown in jail.
Naturally there s more to the story, but whatever these women faced, it took

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation
Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) is a neuromodulatory technique that sends low
intensity, direct current to cortical areas, facilitating or inhibiting spontaneous neuronal activity
(Brunoni, et al., 2012). Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation is a new intervention, which has
received a substantial amount of attention over the past decade, and the main goal of tDCS is to
modulate cortical excitability. This form of non invasive brain stimulation has been used with patients
with aphasia and paired with behavioral treatments, to explore its therapeutic potential.
The parameters of tDCS differ depending on various factors, which include electrode size and
positioning, intensity, duration of stimulation, number of sessions, and ... Show more content on

The authors examined, the potential effects of tDCS in improving spontaneous speech and the ability
to use connective words to establish cohesion among adjacent utterances in a group of eight
participants with chronic nonfluent aphasia (Marangolo, et al., 2014). The authors utilized three tDCS
conditions: anodic tDCS over the Broca s area, anodic tDCS over the Wernicke s area and a sham
condition on all eight adults with nonfluent aphasia. Furthermore, the tDCS intervention involved the
F5 and CP5 International 10 20 system for EEG electrode placement, surface soaked electrodes (5cm

sessions with 14 days of intersession interval, for 3 months (Marangolo, et al.,

Manifest Destiny Theory
Manifest Destiny is a term used to describe the attitude of people during the 19th century period of
American expansion in the United States. It was the idea that the United States not only could, but was
destined to, stretch from coast to coast. The term manifest destiny was first used by journalist John O
Sullivan in a New York Democratic Review in 1845. In my opinion, I think that O Sullivan s theory
was correct. The United States was supposed to stretch from coast to coast.

In this essay the author shall seeks an answer to a complex question whether and on what is the
comparative and relative Milton Friedman s methodology to Karl Raimund Popper s philosophy of
science focusing only on the arguments that really comparable. The question, whether positive
economics is convergent with Popper s falsification s philosophy of science has been preoccupying
the experts for some time.
In the first part, the author presents methodology definition and its place at theory of economics. In the

Furthermore positive science for Friedman indicates exactly Popper s meaning of objective knowledge
. At Popper s methodology are only two solutions: the best obtainable is truth or it gets falsified.
Friedman makes verification as a degree of reasonable confidence and explains as an ultimately
increasing a subjective state of uncertainty. In fact it is a Popper s falsifiability .
Friedman and Popper confirm a real testing problem in economics. According Friedman a theory does
not have prima facie to be tested on a new facts for it can be tested on old ones which have not yet
been notice and which statistical analysis could reveal to us . Whereas according Popper a theory
might see as merely ad hoc. The main testing problem in economics has to do the rational
impossibility of unravel to the observable facts so that one could plainly see what concern solely to

Archetypes And Ideals Of Beowulf And King
A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead
and overcomes anyway Joseph Campbell. Stories have so much power connect you to another world
and teach you lessons that are needed throughout history. Archetypes give the story a focal point and
shape the lesson the author is trying to get across. When ideals get embedded into stories, usually it s
when the hero does something noble and valiant so they want their readers to follow in his footsteps.
The Anglo Saxon Beowulf and Medieval Christian King Arthur display many archetypes and ideals to
shape the story and make it exciting. The Beowulf and King Arthur storytellers use archetypes to
create stories with suspense and have their heroes display values of loyalty to their respective
listeners.
Beowulf, king of the Geats, engages in battles in order to protect his community from physical
creatures while King Arthur s knights engage in spiritual battles against evil temptation which lurks
around every corner. Beowulf proudly displays his prowess before he must confront Grendel, the God
cursed brute when he declares with bold confidence that he can calm the turmoil (Heaney 11, 21).
Beowulf boasts of his strength, pledging to kill Grendel with his bare hands. Grendel, the cursed
descendant of Cain, enjoys death and destruction, ruining Hrothgar s reputation with every attack on
his kingdom. The monster kills one of his men, angering the Thanes and encouraging them to fight

Research Paper On Chilean Earthquake
THE GREAT CHILEAN EARTHQUAKE The Chilean earthquake was the earth s biggest earthquake
ever recorded in the twentieth century. This earthquake took place near Valdivia, southern Chile, on
May 22, 1960. The magnitude (the measurement of the peak of the movement) recorded by a
seismograph (a device used to find and record vibrations that comes from an earthquake) was 9.5. It is
possible that other earthquakes were larger; however, the Chilean Earthquake is the largest earthquake
since precise estimates of magnitude were made possible in the early 1900s. What is an earthquake

The Invention Of Internet Has Changed Our World
If you were to go back 1960s and tell people how in the future you can talk to people on another
continent in matter of seconds and with little to no cost. That you can even send mail, music, photos
and even videos clips in just matter of seconds to as many people as you want. They will look at you
and will probably think you are insane, but all of these things and even more are possible due to the
internet. Many people uses the internet today, but they don t know how it works, why was it created or
who invented it? Even though everything from our banking, business, shopping, communication,
dating, entertainment, education and the most basic task are done on the internet. However one can
argue that s the best part of the internet we don t need to understand it on technology, social, and
physiological level to use it. However no one can argue that the invention of internet has changed our
world, from how we communicate, to how we work, and to how we live our lives. That the internet
was an evolutionary step not a fad, and it has become a pivotal part of our society which has led to it
to become a necessity and a vital tool for the progression of our race. Before we get into why the
internet was created and how it works, we need talk about the word internet . Often when we talk
about the internet we usually get the World Wide Web and internet mixed up but mix up is
understandable because today s internet has both of these technology intertwined that it has

Essay On Causative Agent
Causative Agent:
Human herpesvirus 3 (HHV 3)
Disease:
Varicella (chicken pox) and Herpes Zoster (shingles)
Classification of the causative agent:
Varicella Zoster virus is a member of the Herpesviridae family, sub classified as an alpha
herpesvirinae based on its DNA sequencing and genome arrangement. It has a herpesvirus virion
structure with an inner DNA core, a capsid, a tegument (layer of proteins), and an outer envelope.

Varicella enters through the respiratory track and mucus membranes. The virus will replicate at the site
of entry, then, during the incubation period the virus spreads to the liver, lungs, lymph nodes, and
finally makes its way to the skin. As the infection progresses, small skin vesicles filled with pus and
infected cell particles form on the skin surface. These lesions are the pox of chickenpox.
Herpes zoster (shingles) cannot be passed from one person to another. However, since the virus that
causes shingles is the same virus that causes chickenpox, unvaccinated individuals can be infected and
present with a primary varicella infection (chickenpox) after coming into contact with a shingles
blister either directly or indirectly.
Transmission of chickenpox

Incubation Period of the Disease:
The incubation period for varicella is 14 to 16 days after exposure with a range of 10 to 21 days. A
person with a primary varicella infection (chickenpox) can spread the disease from 1 to 2 days before
they get the rash until 5 to 7 days after blisters have begun to heal.
Herpes zoster (shingles) results from the activation of the chickenpox virus already present in inactive
nerve tissues. The virus can remain dormant in spinal nerves for many years and then can become
activated along an infected nerve or group of nerves,

  • 2. The Meaning Of Figurative Language In Debt By Sara Teasdale 2. The speaker in the poem Debt is the author, Sara Teasdale. By what she is saying, one can infer that she cannot commit to the person who loves her, and vies for the person who is unattainable. The rejection of the person who doesn t love her may motivate Teasdale to love harder and become more obsessed with gaining his attention. 3. Teasdale is trying to almost apologize to the person who loves her deeply because she cannot feel the same for him, instead loving the person who pays her no attention. If she embraced the love of the person who gave it to her, there would be no internal conflict, thus the poem wouldn t exist. 4. The title of the poem, Debt, is significant to how Teasdale feels about her admirer, indebted. She implies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of sensory imagery used in Debt is never gave my spirit wings. Spirit and wings could be both aurally and meaning rich because Teasdale uses them to illustrate a scene of how she is unhappy with how she feels with her suitor. Because she uses wings, the reader can infer that Teasdale feels trapped because her former suitor wants her to reciprocate his feelings. Moreover, in the second stanza, the lines I owe the little open gate that led through heaven s wall appeals to the readers minds, painting a picture of what Teasdale feels as if she owes to the person she contends for. By saying that she owes the little open gate, she depicts a scene where Heaven, or in this case, everything she can give, as blocked off and closed off. Teasdale desires for it to be portrayed this way because it allows the reader to infer that she is willing to sacrifice almost everything to get the little open gate that led through heaven s wall for the person she ... • 4. Analysis Of Katharine Cook Briggs And Her Daughter, Isabel... Have you ever wondered why you get along with your best friends? Or maybe you are dying to know why particular coworkers get under your skin. Perhaps routine quarreling with your cousin frustrates you. Well, once I concluded after much research that I am the ENFJ personality type, I learned not only how my type relates to the ESTJ type, but also that each person s unique perception of the world causes many social conflicts due to individuals perceiving and responding to things opposite from their peers. In order to better understand myself and others, I turned to the reliable, comprehensive Jung typology test developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. This test is based on the work of famous early twentieth century psychologist Carl Jung. The test determines one s personality type based on four parameters an introverted/extraverted scale, an intuition/sensing scale, a feeling/thinking scale, and a judging/perceiving scale. By answering a series of questions aimed at determining specific behavioral functions and dispositions, the applicant is given four letters corresponding with the four parameters to represent his or her personality. Sixteen letter combinations representing sixteen different personalities are possible. After taking multiple typology tests offered by various websites and sifting through the often conflicting results, I concluded that I am an ENFJ personality type. First, I took the test offered by Humanmetrics, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cynthia Barnett Water Work Among all of the resources in the world, there is one that we do not often consider to be diminishing. The masses take this resource, water, for granted. When the average person takes a single look at a world map, they see multiple blue oceans covering the Earth. But, although we are surrounded by water, our clean water reserves dwindle rapidly. In her article, Water Works , Cynthia Barnett attempts to bring this issue to greater light and offers her own solutions. While I agree with many of Barnett s points, she fails to look at the arguments of her detractors to the detriment of her already flawed case. Throughout the article, Barnett analyses the idea of water scarcity. She accentuates the fact that aging infrastructure hampers our ability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her argument is focused on the Pacific Northwest, our rainy marine paradise. She speaks to a specific population, citing the cultural significance of the salmon in this area (Barnett 2013). Unfortunately for her message, this ignores the ranging climates and situations around the world, where her solutions may not be as effective. While this may be persuasive towards the generally liberal population in the region that likely already agrees with her, it offers little for people who live in drier regions. Even within the United States, I have my doubts that Barnett s suggestions would work. For example, desert regions in California and plains in the Midwest would not benefit from these ideas. The article s biggest failing, however, is the view of the rest of the world. As Dr. Pierre Mukheibir, a civil engineer with over 20 years experience in the water sector, points out in his article that about 1.2 billion people live without access to clean drinking water. These people do not live in the Pacific Northwest, they mostly live in developing countries in Africa (Mukheibir 1028). I think our resources and knowledge would be better spent focusing on the lives of those suffering from the deprivation of human rights instead of pinpointing specific areas and peoples in the United ... • 6. The Goal Of The Accounting And Audit Professions Essay The goal of the accounting and audit professions is to provide statements and information on behalf of a firm that are reliable and relevant to users. In order to accomplish this goal, the accounting and audit professions have continuously evolved in order to meet the needs of said users. In this new age of accounting, we feel the need for accountants and auditors to further modify their methodology and process. With the focus of accounting and auditing staying the same, we in the profession must be sure to strive to produce valuable information to the end users. First we will discuss the importance of intangibles and their value to a company. This value is being under disclosed using traditional accounting methods, and therefore the accounting profession must be modified in order to properly value intangibles when presenting users with the finished financial statements. Secondly, this paper will divulge into how the effects of corporate disclosures through new media may inadvertently force auditing profession to adapt accordingly. Due to corporations having the ability to disclose earnings using new media, the users of this information need to be able to recognize that it is trustworthy. Lastly, the idea of new emerging technologies causing the auditing profession to change will be discussed. While companies have yet to adapt the mainstream use of computer systems, the future of bookkeeping will most likely be done entirely by computer systems, thereby rendering the ... • 7. Hamlet And Ophelia In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, there were many important characters just like Hamlet who show up in more than three fourths of the play; but there are also characters that don t necessarily show up as much but still have a strong role. One of the characters that didn t get as much screen time but was still important was Ophelia. Ophelia was a sister, girlfriend, and daughter that so many people loved. Therefore, Despite the lack of presence of Ophelia, she ultimately played a big role in the lives of a lot of the characters. Throughout the play, Hamlet and Ophelia have a very strong love connection. They loved each other and wanted to eventually get married. Hamlet and Ophelia hit some bumps in the road in their relationship but they always secretly wanted to be together. In Act 1, Scene 3, It was hard for Ophelia to comprehend when Polonius told her that he thought Hamlet s love for her wasn t real, but she didn t know what to believe. When Hamlet could no longer see Ophelia he began to get mad a frustrated, to add on also that he was going crazy over his own father s death. Another time Ophelia was important in Hamlet s life was after not seeing Ophelia for a while Hamlet stumbles upon a grave site being dug in the middle of the woods, but at the time he doesn t know who for. When Hamlet find out that Ophelia is the one that is being put to rest he starts to go crazy again. He says I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers, if you added all their love together, couldn t match mine. What are you going to do for her? ( V, I, pg.12. lines 247 249). Hamlet is basically trying to say that even if they don t believe him he really did love Ophelia. Gertrude responded by saying, This is pure insanity. He ll be like this for a little while (V, I, pg. 12 lines 247 249). When Gertrude says this she basically means that he has gone crazy before that this is normal he will calm down soon. Therefor Ophelia played a huge role in Hamlet s life without necessarily being there all of the time. Ophelia and Laertes also had a very important relationship as brother and sister. One thing that concerned me was how he recognizes people who kill and torture for pleasure. The other point he made that came across as weaker to me or somewhat questionable is that we are to question whether our motive is genuinely compassionate when considered in relation to the totality of all beings. I agree with him on this completely and I think the fact they made this memorial like this makes it more than just a memorial, it is also art. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that the existence of negative potential does not give us grounds to suppose that human nature is inherently violent. The next question to think about is, what about those who kill and torture for pleasure? Here he is talking about people like Hilter, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. In these types of people there is a lacking of the basic impulse toward care and affection for others. There is a commonality between all of them, that their schemes were carried out in accordance to a perverted vision. They all have goals towards which they were working. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that killers come from a particular society, time and place. Also we should recognize the role of the imaginative faculty in their actions. Although I can understand these things, I think it comes awful close to making excuses for the horrible actions that these people have been in charge of. It is so profound that it led to the creation an entire federal agency, the National Security Agency, whose primary purpose is to create and analyze cryptologic methods, and whose published vision includes global cryptologic dominance. The first and most recent spectacular round of surveillance came during the First World War and what became of it after all was said and done. Fearing subversion by German Americans after declaring war on Germany in 1917, the FBI and Military Intelligence expanded from insignificant bureaucrats into agencies, with god like abilities, tasked with extinguishing any flame of disloyalty at any place in America, whether by words or action. Dominican Republic Dictator Rafael Trujillo Dominican Republic Dictator: Rafael Trujillo Brief History When studying the history of the Dominican Republic, one can observe the tensions between different ethnicities, the several occupations, the many struggles due to military rule, the fights that demanded independence, and the powerful dictators who left major impact on the country. In fact, according to political scientist Howard J. Wiarada, the Dominican Republic is just a small representation of Latin America. After the brutal revolts against its motherland, Spain, the Dominican Republic finally declared its independence in 1821. But the independence was shortly lived, because in the following year, Haiti dominated the country, oppressing the citizens under their rule. • 18. Theme Of Women In A Doll s House How the Need for Independence Contributed to the Failure of Marriage in Ibsen s A Doll s House The play, A Doll s House, was written by Henrik Ibsen in the year 1879. In this time period, men and women were not equal. The main protagonist, Nora, had decisions decided for her throughout her life. At a certain point, she realized it was time for her to seek independence. This search for self sufficiency caused many issues in her marriage. From early on in the play, it is apparent how submissive Nora is to her husband, Torvald: You haven t any idea how many expenses we skylarks and squirrels have, Torvald (14). He uses pet names such as squirrel and spendthrift to address Nora, comparing her to feeble animals. These are metaphors that Ibsen uses to display how most women were treated in this time period. They were seen as objects or fragile little animals that needed the protection of a man. Nora goes along with these names and even refers to herself as them in order to please him and get what she wants, which is usually money. Torvald is controlling and possessive when it comes to Nora, but she doesn t know any better because her dad treated her in a similar manner. She s the mother of three kids and a woman, so work is not a realistic option for her. This is another reason why she s so dependent on Torvald for money. • 21. African Americans in World War Ii For many African Americans, the war offered an opportunity to get out of the cycle of crushing rural poverty. Black joined the military in large numbers, escaping a decade of Depression and tenant farming in the South and Midwest. Yet, like the rest of America in the 1940s, the armed forces were segregated. The Army accepted black enlistees but created separate black infantry regiments and assigned white commanders to them. Of the more than 2.5 million African Americans who registered for the draft in WWII, about 900,000 served in the Army. But about only 50,000 African Americans were allowed to serve in combat. For at least one serviceman from Wichita, Kansas, the irony of being asked to die for a country that denied him basic civil rights was too much. James Thompson wrote to the Pittsburg Courier, and asked Should I sacrifice to live half American? The newspaper responded by calling for a Double V campaign. The campaign borrowed on the well known two finger V for Victory salute from Winston Churchill. The paper proclaimed that blacks should work for the victory of democracy both at home and abroad. The Double V campaign caught on. Civil rights leaders such as A. Philip Randolph saw the unique situation created by World War II and the acute need for workers as an opportunity to demand equality. In 1941 Randolph threatened President Roosevelt with a 100,000 person march on Washington, D.C., to protest job discrimination. In response, Roosevelt issued Executive Order 8802, prohibiting discrimination in defense jobs or the government. On the home front, the U.S. government desperately needed workers to fill newly created defense jobs and factory positions left open by soldiers who had left to fight. More than two million African Americans went to work for defense plants, and another two million joined the federal civil service. As these new opportunities drew more and more African Americans into cities, they opened the way for economic mobility. As the war dragged on, it affected American society at nearly every level. • 22. Virtual Reality ( Vr ) After standing in line at Best Buy for over an hour, I was finally given the chance to try a new piece of technology I had been following for several years. They fastened a thick headset over my face and I was instantly transported to a different world. Here, my hands held a bow and arrow and I began to shoot countless enemies to defend a kingdom from certain ruin. I was now a part of something that what was once fantasy and now only possible in this alternate world. These digital universes are now possible thanks to the recent introduction of Virtual Reality (VR), a piece of tech that allows the user to enter digitally created realms. The technology consists of a headset (that a user would place on their head), which covers one s face and sight with a big thick dome. Inside that dome is a screen that projects into the user s eyes, creating a world in which they can feel and interact in. The user can look around and touch things with their body, just like in the real world. This helps to make someone feel immersed in an alternate reality, hence the name Virtual Reality. This device has definitely had a big impact on the tech world and is a game changer to many. Because this device so new, it has yet to catch on with the general masses, leading many to think that this will not be the next big thing. Many believe the tech to be just another fad that will die out, as with Nintendo s Wii and its motion gaming. Others are skeptical about possible controversies that will arise ... • 23. Sorghum Research Paper Forages in Australia are mainly kept in the country for use in feeding livestock. Excess forages are cut to be baled for hay or they are ensiled, which means to be cut and stored in a silo or similar type facility to be preserved as silage. Another newer and more popular use of forages are as cover crops in between growing seasons. This is a good way to improve soil health and it also creates another grazing area for livestock. There are three main types of forages in Australia: sorghum, millet, and cover crops. The first mentioned, sorghum, is the best known of the three. Although sorghum can be harvested as grain, it is also used as a forage crop. Sorghum has a very high production potential which makes it a great feed source for livestock. There are two main hybrids of sorghum that are grown in Australia, and they are: sudan x sorghum where the bulk of this feed is available in the summer and autumn and sweet sorghum where the bulk of feed is available in autumn. Although sorghum is a great feed source, it does have a fault. The sorghum plants produce a toxic prussic acid when they are young and if the plants are grazed by livestock during this period, it could be fatal to the livestock. ... The basic rally was for women to be given the equalities of men. The two major players on the stage of change for women were known as the Suffragist and the Suffragettes. These two fractions of the whole succeeded in supporting each other to victory. Some would still argue that women, even in developed countries, still have a long way to go before the male/female playing field is completely level.
