Benefits Of The For Medicare Payment System ( Mips )
MIPS. It sounds like some kind of disease. And for many providers, it will likely cause as much
pain. Starting in 2017, physicians will have to deal with the Merit Based Incentive Payment System
(MIPS).
MIPS is intended to measure the performance of Medicare Part B providers in four different
performance areas (30% by VBM measured resource use (claims data), 30% by VBM measured
quality (PQRS data), 25% by Meaningful Use (EHR data), and 15% by a newly introduced
clinical practice improvement measure). Providers will then be given a score between 0 and 100.
These scores will impact practices in a couple of different ways:
1)Negative scores will affect providers Medicare reimbursement
2)Scores will be made available to consumers online ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning next year, 2017, providers will begin to be scored by the new MIPS measurements
and that score will directly impact 2019 reimbursements. And, as we mentioned, on top of being
financially impacted by MIPS, providers are also looking at reputation ramifications of low MIPS
scores, which will be made public online. The sooner practices can ensure their performance in
Meaningful Use, PQRS, and the Value Based Modifier, the better prepared they ll be for 2019
MIPS implementation.
What Can You Do to Get Ready?
With a little over 6 months to prepare, there is much physicians can do to get themselves and their
practices ready for MIPS implementation and set themselves up for success.
Focus You Efforts
When you look at the percentages that will make up the MIPS scores, about 85% will go toward
PQRS, MU and VBM. In other words, while you may have secretly prayed at night for these
incentive programs to go away, they are not going anywhere. These are the areas you ve got to
focus your efforts on right now. Become a master at these and you ll be way ahead of the game in
2017.
Identify the Quality Measures That Will Most Affect You
You ll want to drill down to identify the clinical quality measures in these current programs that
will affect your scope of practice the most. Once you identify them, get as familiar as you can with
them so you can score well in your sleep!
Maximize Efficiency

Too Much Water Is Poison For Flower Seeds Essay
Too much water is poison for flower seeds. When I was in elementary school, this words made
me shocked. I believed that the more I watered them, the more beautifully the flowers would
bloom, so actually, I gave a lot of water to my flowers. However, because of my too much care , I
failed to grow them.
Like this phrase, when we care about something too much , it can be a poison. Of course, there are
many cases, but I think the most serious one is parent s too much care , in other words, their
interference with children. In my speech, too much care means parents do what their children are
trying to do instead of them, even though they do not need their help. For example, when children
have trouble tying their shoes, then the parent immediately ties their shoelaces instead of letting
them learn to do it. Of course, children need parents assistance, but is it really the best support for
children? Today, I would like to talk about parents attitudes of interfering with children s attempts at
learning. Through my speech, I want parents and future parents to think of the circumstances that
enable your children to try a lot of things.
Some of you may say, Interfere? I ll never do such a stupid thing! but it is mistaken assumption.
According to NHK, more than 50% of the parents interfere with their children with meaning no
harm. So, it is a fairly common problem in Japan.
Parent s behavior can sometimes be poison to child s mental wellbeing. According

Ode to the West Wind Essay
The wind is one of the most powerful forces known to man. It can do things that man has been
envious of and also terrified of throughout the centuries. It is no wonder why Shelley decided to
write a poem of praise in its name. Shelley writes this poem with the speaker being a poet himself
frustrated that he can not tell the world the things that he feels the world needs to know.
Throughout the poem he continually is describing what the wind can do and what he wishes the
wind could do for him. It may be better to describe Shelley before I try to interpret the poem.
Shelley was an intelligent man who studied at Oxford before being kicked out for refusing to admit
authorship of The Necessity of Atheism. He continued to write and express... Show more content on

Shelley was bringing ...his two countries closer together with the structure of a poem. (Shmoop
Editorial Team) It could also be argued that Shelley was using the terza rima to emulate Dante
since he was one the great writers of that time. Although these are very plausible thoughts on
what this structure could mean, we still may never know what exactly was meant by it. After a
first read of the poem many literary techniques that Shelley used to catch the eye of the reader.
The imagery that is used in this poem is matched by no other poem that I have read, using scenes
of yellow, and black, and pale, and hectic red (Shelley 4) leaves and of the crystГ lline streams
(Shelley 31) to give a clear mental picture of exactly what Shelley wants to portray. Metaphors
are also a huge contributing factor to his ability to be able to describe what exactly he wants to
describe. Throughout the poem he refers to his thoughts being leaves that are dead and withered
and that he wishes the west wind could take these leaves of his and disperse them like it does the
literal leaves of the fall. Along with the imagery and metaphors he also uses allusions to Greek
mythology describe how the wind is powerful enough to move the clouds Like the bright hair
uplifted from the head/ Of some fierce Mænad (Shelley 20 21). His word choice throughout the
poem is mainly to credit for the way that his message is portrayed. The poem is

Analysis Of Sergio Leone s A Fistfull Of Dollars
What could be more quintessentially American than having a national touchstone be reinvented
by a foreigner? By the time Sergio Leone began work on A Fistfull of Dollars in 1964, the
Western and all of its trappings had been around for nearly a century. Whether it be through
literature, film, television, or radio, stories of pitched gun battles and hard fought backwater living
in that peculiar period of the untamed American frontier became one of the United States chief
cultural exports. Over the course of the Dollars Trilogy of A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars
More(1965) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966) in addition to Once Upon a Time in the West
(1968) Leone took the trappings of the Western and completely turned the genre on its head in both
style and substance. Unlike the saintly heroes of old, Clint Eastwoods Man With No Name was a
remorseless killer, only concerned with the gold in his pocket and the poncho on his back.
Violence was not as quick and easy as John Ford would lead you to believe: Leone was unafraid
to depict violence in full while making it clear that taking the life of another was an ugly and
pointless endeavor. Higher notions of heroism and civilization had no place in Leone s world, his
characters interested only in enriching themselves or settling the score with their adversaries. Out
on a frontier bereft of social structure or authority, Leone s characters shape their own reality with
a few well placed dollars and a loaded gun.

Negative Essay On Fake News
Thapa4 Anuka Thapa Professor Sherry Sharifian Government 2305 11/29/2017 Fake News the
hot topic The word fake itself sounds very counterfeit. Fake means something that is not genuine
or something claiming to be something that one is not. News is something newly received
information, especially about recent events from all over. News is the summarization of the
events that takes place in North, East, West and South. This paper will clarify the impacts of
Fake News in our democracy and even to the individuals. In this 21st century, there is the huge
competition almost in every sector. In the same way, there are many social Medias that have
been gradually developing. Yes, we can notice that some of them are truly dedicated in public
and trying to give best by doing constructional works. Meanwhile, there are so many fake cites
which motto is to fool people and take advantages of them. It is very important for us to figure
out the real ones and fakes ones. Easy access to online and social media has make people life
easier. People today s are totally depend on social media for any kind of news and they are most
trustworthy towards those news. Unfortunately among much trustworthy news there is some
news that is fake. With the increase of the followers of social media it is becoming more difficult

Crime And Punishment During The Prohibition Era
Research Essay
Creating a legal age to cease the criminal behavior during the prohibition era would create a
solution because it s no longer illegal for people to sell or consume alcohol and organized crime
rates within gangsters would decrease. Prohibition began once the 18th amendment was passed, this
banned the manufacturing, selling, consumption, and transportation of alcohol. Alcohol was seen
as the devil s advocate so the government thought prohibition would help decrease violence and
improve the lives of so many Americans. During prohibition crime rates raised tremendously,
people didn t care that drinking or selling alcohol was illegal, they continued to drink anyways,
opening up saloons, speakeasies and illegal bars. One third of the adult population was willing to
abstain from alcohol during Prohibition; instead, drinking became a symbol of independence and
sophistication. ( Prohibition. Crime and Punishment in America Reference Library) Creating a

Once the banning of alcohol was set in place, a lot of gangsters saw an opportunity in the black
market. Organized crime rose because so many people wanted alcohol, so gangsters were the
ones to help supply this need for alcohol. Unemployment rose so it became an easy way to make
money for most people who were in desperate need to help provide for their family s. By the late
1920s gangsters had become well established and wealthy. Some gang leaders became millionaires
as the cost of drinks rose significantly. ( Prohibition. Crime and Punishment in America Reference

would be no reason for gangsters to sell alcohol when citizens will be able to get it themselves at

The Emergence And Passing Of Jean Toomer
Jean Toomer was born on December 26, 1894 to Nina Pinchback, and Nathan Toomer. He was
born with the name Nathan Pinchback Toomer, but it was later changed to Eugene Toomer.
Toomer s grandfather Pinckney Benton Stewart Pinchback was born a free Negro to a white
planter and a mulatto slave. Jean Toomer admired his grandfather, who served in the army
during the Civil War, and later became governor of Louisiana. His grandfather, like Toomer, was
able to easily pass for black or white. Throughout Jean Toomer s life, he struggled with his
identity. As he was able to pass as white, he would sometimes deny the fact that he was white.

Faith and Organized Religion Essay
Many skeptics in today s culture are convinced that organized religion does more harm than good.
Many of these people make persuasive arguments that are or can be conclusive. In some cases,
they say, a church, has too much power, is filled with politics and its rituals take away from God
and put emphasis on one s self; therefore, faithis what matters. In the novel A Portrait of The Artist
as Young Man by James Joyce, readers see Stephen go through life with faith, surrounded by others
with faith and religious activities. After a while, Steven loses sight of true faith, forgets Godand
becomes an artist.
Faith is defined as the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Many

The preacher then cautiously warns him that participating in this sin will take over his life. After
this confession, he found his faith and became a new man. Stephen began rituals, Sunday was
dedicated to the mystery of the Holy Trinity, Monday to the Holy Ghost, Tuesday to the Guardian
Angel... (Portrait, 103). Stephen immediately jumped from being only concerned with himself,
doing nothing for the Lord and engulfed in sin. Stephen even wore rosary, then at the end he lost
faith. Stephen consumed himself with acts and rituals so much that it could be said he lost faith.
The rituals took him away from God and put emphasis on what he wanted to be, an artist. The
rituals of organized religion pushed him to the edge.
As Stephen was in the transaction of sanctification, he started to go through the motions.
Stephen did everything according to feeling. For example, when he felt like he was not saved,
he repented to gain God s power. A restless feeling of guilt would always be present with him: he
would confess, repent, and be absolved, confess and repent again and be absolved fruitlessly
(Portrait, 109). Stephen was entirely in control of his own thoughts; he knew he could go back to
the way he was at any second. Stephen wanted to be free and to express himself for who he was
and not who everyone wanted him to be. After a long struggle between this ritualistic attitude, he
felt tied to the rituals of his religion. Stephen

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
Media is everywhere, it became a part of our life. We are exposed to thousands of ad messages
every day and it s hard to imagine how it would feel to live without them constantly surrounding us.
Today we see ads in print publications, TV commercials, emails, on different products, massively
scattered in sport venues, and it s even spreading into public spaces. In his documentary, Morgan
Spurlock delivered a fascinating satire of the process of placing products into movies and tried to
delve into the nature of advertising in our society. In the movie Spurlock talks about product
marketing while using product placement to get brands to sponsor his movie. Of course, some of
the brands (Guess, Harmel Foods, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in this movie, Spurlock had to drink only POM drinks, eat only Amy s Pizza and
stay only at Hyatt hotels, and there were many things he was obligated to do by the contract
besides the ones mentioned. Even when he showed the ads that he wanted to do for POM
segments, they refused every single one of them and basically told him that they wanted to use
comparison with Minute Maid juice, because that s how they wanted to be perceived. Brands are
extremely concerned with their public image, and that s why in Quentin Tarantino s case Denny s
refused to take part in his movies. His movies usually contain blood and murder scenes and no
company wanted to risk being associated with this theme.
One of the topics covered in the movie is the topic of selling out. The question is whether
Spurlock is selling out or not, and what would selling out look like if it s not the case here. The
opinion of the people, that have been asked this question seems to converge on the notion that he is
not selling out, because he s doing the thing he planned from the start. It s his idea and everything
goes according to plan. But as Spurlock said himself, when you become brand friendly , it s a
slippery slope. The door is open wide the moment you ve made your first deal. Drawing the line

Family Medical Leave Act
The Family Medical Leave Act The Family Medical Leave Act was passed in 1993 and updated in
2008 and 2009. The law requires employers with 50 or more employees to allow up to 12 weeks of
unpaid leave. The provision of the law would allow employees who have worked for one year and
have worked at least 1,250 hours to use the unpaid leavefor family or medical reasons (DeCenzo

service, any combination of weeks worked that equal to 52 weeks makes and employee eligible for

Eckhart felt sick, as he usually did when entering the castle. As loyal as he was to the Lord of the
Black Sands, something dark crawled and writhed about inside him whenever he was in the man s
presence. Not that Eckhart was a perfect or even moral man under any definitions, but Gammon, the
Demon Lord, took being evil to extremes that made even the most heartless and bloodthirsty men
cringe. Inside, the castle s floor and walls were a dense black material that seemed to absorb the
lighting from the braziers positioned every few feet in the hallways and took every inch of heat
from within the walls as well. Stifling a shiver, his metal bound boots made heavy clinking sounds

the way to the ground, shoulders topped with spikes and large feathers, and elegant, manly hands
emerging from the sleeves with long, pointed nails on each finger. His exposed stomach and chest
were slender yet muscled, a thin trail of dark hair dusting above his groin, disappearing beneath his
trousers, and a golden ring put through his right nipple glistened in the available light. The entire

and shame.
Without missing a beat during his quiet inspection, he answered, his deep voice, normally making

Oppose Susan s Proposal For Relocation With The...
1.I feel the President and Board members should reject Susan s proposal to relocate to Florida. A
feasibility study should be conducted to determine the viability of WPP s relocation before
proceeding with the development to Philadelphia, Charlotte or Washington, DC. According to
Susan, The Bank of America would sponsor a questionable Warrior to Work program, agreeing to
hire 50 veterans per year as full time employees, regardless of qualifications. The board is faced
with a conflict of interest, which might benefit Susan and her husband. Conflicts of interest among
a board of directors can take several forms and this situation leaves no room for negotiation. It is a
best practice to avoid or minimize conflicts of interest. Non profit board members should be
discharged of their duties in accordance with their inability act in the best interests of the
organization. The presentation by Susan outlined her questionable ethics and commitment to the
pursuing the best interests of WWP. I do not think there is room for negotiation because Susan
refused to acknowledge John s discovery of lower Jacksonville and equally attractive properties.

Renewable Energy Source Capable Of Solving The Current...
For years, scientists have been pursuing the discovery of a beneficial alternative energy source
capable of solving the current energy crisis. Some of the most popular forms are solar energy, wind
energy, and nuclear energy. Although solar, wind, and nuclear energy have many benefits, they are
vastly detrimental to our environment. Solar energyrequires a copious amount of space, wind
energy is aesthetically disturbing and harmful to wildlife, and nuclear energy s working fluid is
highly pollutant. In turn, scientists have recently discovered the vast potential of ocean energy. The
United States of America needs to pursue the further development of ocean energy. First, the ocean
furnishes high levels of energy availability. The ocean stands as the largest energy collector
because of its massive size. According to Renewable EnergyWorld, the sea stands as the largest
solar energy collector because almost three fourths of earth s surface is ocean (Ocean Energy:
Renewable [1]). The Oceans are in one sense, according to the Environmental Encyclopedia a
huge storage tank for solar energy ( Ocean Thermal [1]). Because the vast majority of earth is
covered by the ocean, the ocean has more space to create energy than any other plant, panel, or
mill. Ocean water is in surplus while land only covers approximately 25 30% of earth s surface.
While open and unused land supplies diminish yearly, the ocean continues to occupy relatively the
same amount of surface area. Second,

Severus Snape s Story And The Side He Actually A Person...
Severus Snape is shown to be a person who is not just a strict teacher but also cold towards most

Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 2 May, 1998) was a half blood wizard who was the son of the
witch Eileen Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. James Potter: James and his group of friends
were constantly at war with Severus throughout their school years. Severus s memories,
recorded in the Pensieve, suggest that he was an introverted and studious individual, whereas
James was arrogant, popular, and athletic. Immediately upon meeting him, James disliked
Severus for expressing a desire to be in Slytherin. James s big crush on Lily, and Severus s close
friendship and unrequited love for her also heightened the tension between the two. One
recorded memory in the Pensieve bears witness to James bullying him, turning him upside down
to reveal his underwear in front of many students, including Lily. Lily came to Severus s
defence, but this only made things worse: in a subsequent lashing out at James in an attempt to
recover his lost dignity, Severus inadvertently called Lily a Mudblood. Lily refused to forgive
him for it, even after his repeated apologies. This would forever be Severus s worst memory as it
was seen by Harry whilst in the Pensieve. Severus noticed that Remus kept disappearing during the

The Immigration Issue Of Immigration
Immigration is one hot topic in today s conversation and society. Many think that immigrants
coming to America are taking many jobs away from who need them. Some also think that there are
jobs being taken away are not ones that Americans would not perform due to the horrible working
conditions, low pay, and lack of important medical coverage. The immigrationissue has come to a
point where the United States must make a decision to spend a lot of money to curtail the amount
of immigrants coming here.
Immigrants are not necessarily taking jobs away from the hard American worker. The work
occupations that the immigrants take are illegal for any legal (licensed) employer to employ any
American worker. The typical job sites that would be including but not limited to: unsanitary
working conditions, dangerous equipment without proper safety precautions, extremely long
working days, and less than minimum wage for work rendered. There is not one citizen in this
country that would stand for such an outrageous environment to work in or work for a company
that allows it to happen. Many citizens would go directly to an inspection board to have the
factory and/or plant evaluated to see if the factory could pass any sort of inspection for the
welfare of the workers. Hence, the factory/plant would be closed down and there would be even
fewer jobs for Americans.
Immigrants are a growing part of the labor force. As the foreign born population has grown as a

Invasive Species Extinction
Humans have caused another extinction, one that could possibly take us down in the process,
species are exponentially going extinct because of habitat loss, species exportation, and invasive
species bullying native species. On the other hand, scientists are trying to safe guard native

widespread invasion. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting What Everglades Pythons

now it seems like the human race is trying to rid our earth of the decreasing amount of flora in
certain areas. In Indonesia rain forests are being torn apart to make way for palm oil plantations.

Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation
Attainment of the differentiated state during the final stages of somatic cell differentiation is
closely tied to cell cycle progression. Much less is known about the role of the cell cycle at very
early stages of embryonic development. Here, we show that molecular pathways involving the cell
cycle can be engineered to strongly affect embryonic stem celldifferentiation at early stages in vitro.
Strategies based on perturbing these pathways can shorten the rate and simplify the lineage path of
ES differentiation. These results make it likely that pathways involving cell proliferation intersect
at various points with pathways that regulate cell lineages in embryos and demonstrate that this
knowledge can be used profitably to guide the path and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is surprising, for example, that mouse and human ES cells appear to be so different with respect
to the molecules that mediate their self renewal, and perhaps even in their developmental potentials.
BMPs, for example, in combination with LIF, promote the self renewal of mouse ES cells. But in
conditions that would otherwise support undifferentiated proliferation, BMPs cause rapid
differentiation of human ES cells. Also, human ES cells differentiate quite readily to trophoblast,
whereas mouse ES cells do so poorly, if at all. One would expect that at some level, the basic
molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency would be conserved, and indeed, human and
mouse ES cells share the expression of many key genes. Yet we remain remarkably ignorant about
the molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency, and the nature of this remarkable cellular
state has become one of the central questions of developmental biology. Of course, the other great
challenge will be to continue to unravel the factors that control the differentiation of human ES
cells to specific lineages, so that ES cells can fulfill their tremendous promise in basic human
biology, drug screening, and transplantation

The Olympic Games are a worldwide competition that brings people of different cultures and
backgrounds into one united area where they compete in their specialized sports. These events,
however, are not purely entertainment like they should have been. Today s societies are more
dependent on politics and therefore so are sports and the athletes competing, sometimes even
without their own will. In various occasions across the world politics was the main reason for
athletes to withdraw from athletic events such as the world cup, Olympics, and any other

In this essay I will address the current question that many people have concerning the right way to
interpret the meaning of righteousness. Since there isn t a right or wrong way; to interpret God

I feel that the righteousness of God meaning the righteousness God gives the people is and will
always be the correct interpretation of righteousness, the message that God intended for us to
grasp was to gain his righteousness and not to gain it by default. Proverbs 13:4 states that The soul
of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied (Bible
Gateway, Prov. 13.4). This passage teaches us that the Lord rewards those try. This passage is the
reason why, I feel that the righteousness of God is earned. Simply because Romans 1:17 states
that For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from
first to last, [a] just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith (Bible Gateway, Rom 1.17).
Paul tells us that righteousness is given to the people, by God in verse 1:17. In this passage Paul
reveals the revelation of God; he is the revelation of the righteousness (van Aarde 1). God
pardons those who repent of their sins , while punishing the wicked , [this shows the
righteousness that God gives the people] (Sanders 305). He God gives all a chance to ask for
forgiveness of their sins. It is the righteousness and tender mercy that the Lord has over his people.
Some may beg to different and say that it s the covenant promise that makes us righteous. Because
God made a promise to all man before we entered the world, they feel that righteousness is given. I

My Lai Massacre Analysis
METONYMY I used to date a girl whose biggest fear was human fragility. The details of it, I
mean, terrified her. The idea that bones can break, and fingers can be cut off, and noses can
bleed. Tendons, especially. She found tendons disgusting. Hated the idea of them, because she
couldn t imagine a tendon without imagining it snapping like a sinewy rubber band. I don t
know why she never expressed the same aversion to ligaments, but she probably had it, if I d
brought it up. I never could bring it up, though, because if I made any mention of violence of
any kind, she looked like she was going to throw up, and sometimes she did. So, in addition to
not being able to discuss certain aspects of the news (she never knew and never wanted to know
the details of the night Trayvon Martin died, for example,) we also couldn t watch certain movies.
After a year or so of living with her, I d taken to checking movie review sites made for Christian
parents to decide which movies their teenagers can and cannot watch before suggesting anything.

Consider a scenario of a teenager boy for comparing with this case study. A teenager boy who
was found lying unconscious on the road was brought to the ER by EMS. The only information
available at that time was his name and date of birth. Due to availability of RHIO in the ER, the
physician was quickly able to access his demographics and past medical records. RHIO immensely
helped in locating his parents and diagnose his medical condition. If there was no RHIO system
available, then the hospital would have spent significant amount of time and resources in locating
his parents as well as finding his medical history. Moreover, the hospital would have performed
unnecessary diagnostic tests to figure out the reason of his unconsciousness. Also, the boy s
condition would have worsened by the time the hospital have been able to obtain his accurate
medical information. This scenario provides a good comparison between the use of RHIO by
WHIN and its current applications. The above scenario made me realized the advantages of
RHIO. In my opinion, I would have encouraged the use of RHIO by EMS personnel. This could
have helped the EMS in identifying the appropriate cause of his unconsciousness and they could
have been able to manage his medical condition prior to the ER

The novel Perks of Being a Wallflower written by Stephen Chbosky is a book that revolves
around the life of a young teenage boy named Charlie. Charlie is in his first year of high school

I ve been smoking it all the time since (3.16). This shows the reader that having Bob as a friend
made it convenient for Charlie to get drugs. Coming of age is a time in a person s life when they
gradually transition from a child to an adult and become more mature. This has an important role
in charlie s exploration of drugs as during this time period teenagers usually go through a lot of
trails and obstacles, questioning themselves about what they really want or do. Charlie can be
seen going through these trials as he thinks to himself that Maybe my whole family has been

Modern Society In The Time Machine By H. G. Wells
Usually, literature reflects the features of contemporary society. One of the reasons is that the
writers of the literature necessarily are influenced by the society they live in. In The Time
Machine, the writer H. G. Wells showed his own view on late Victorain societey. In that era, speed
of changes in society was fast and many modern society problems strated to arise according to
development of technologies. H. G. Wellswere also aware of these problems. He especially focused

In the early 19th century, the prospect of the future was usually related to utopia. Expectation of
human reason and confidence in science, which were influenced by civil revolution and
industrial revolution, made many people look forward to more advanced societies. However, as
modern problems including the gulf between rich and poor became serious, criticism against
harmful effects of industrialization started to arise. The emergence of literature about dystopia
showed this criticism. Similarly, time traveller in the book looked the future society as utopia. He
said that the whole earth had become a garden. (30). He also believed in a perfect conquest of
Nature (32). However, as he discovered the real aspect of future society, he admitted that his first
theory that the future is utopia was totally wrong. It is actually dystopia which is far different from
what he expected. The time traveller suggested that because of too perfect and secure environment,
the human in upperworld had dwindled in size, strength and intelligence (49). Elois are small and

Descriptive Essay On Beer
One Friday night, a few of my coworkers went to Stan s Blue Note on Greenville Avenue in
Dallas. This bar had a selection of over 100 bottles of beer. They had a list of the beers. If you
wanted, you were able to register and the bartenders would keep a list of the beers that you drank
each time you visited. After you drank all of the beers on the list, you were given a t shirt that
indicated your achievement. At the time, most of the good beers were imports. That evening, I had
Polar from Venezuela and Dragon Stout from Jamaica. Up until that point, Dragon Stout was the
most unique tasting beerthat I had ever tried. At first I laughed that it tasted like a cross between
beer and paint. As I sipped it and savored the flavor, it grew on me. I liked it so much, I ordered a
second bottle. The bartender thought that I was crazy. The bartenders had a microphone behind
the bar. They used to harass male patrons who ordered wine coolers. After I got my second bottle
of Dragon Stout, the bartender grabbed the microphone, pointed at me and laughed that I was one
sick man. I went to Stan s Blue Note only three or four times after that. I did not attempt to get the
t shirt. Each time I was there, I ordered a Dragon Stout. Dragon Stout was the beer that got me
interested in beer tasting.

Meursault s Indifference in The Stranger, by Albert Camus
In The Stranger, Albert Camus allows the main character to tell the story in order to give the reader
an experience of his own. Obviously, with a novel also comes language, which Camus incorporates
cleverly as a way to indirectly illustrate Meursault s thoughts about certain situations. Although the
novel represents a postmodern setting, the author shifts the overall meaning. In The Stranger,
Camus applies a unique literary style as a power that deflects blame from Meursault, the antiheroic
character. In order to disclaim the fault of Meursault, Camus incorporates several instances in which
he leaves a greater sense of authority to nonliving objects, while further drawing attention away

Furthermore, he covers the Arab s intentions when talking about the same blade that persists in
bringing Meursault pain. He describes the stabbing as a scorching blade [that] slashes at [his]
eyelashes and stabs at [his] stinging eyes (59). The moment that the blade brings itself to Meursault
s face and slashes at his eyelashes, of course, is the point at which Meursault acknowledges that
everything is beginning to reel. Finally, under the influence of the sea s fiery breath and the sun s
scorching attitude, Meursault admits that the trigger gave when reminiscing on the death of the

the negative actions, as he shoots the Arab four more times. At this point, perhaps, he realizes his
own fault within the situation as he continues to set himself in place for the remainder of part one.
The simple sentences in The Stranger reveal Meursault s emotional detachment from society, while
the more complex sentences are assigned to objects with authority. Throughout the entire novel,
Meursault s simplicity and disinterest in the world can be identified with the incorporation of his
simple statements. Especially in this particular passage, Meursault finds it unimportant to challenge
himself in a way that makes sense. Although Meursault recognizes the sensibility of walking

been able to find is that multiple reasons can be attributed to the lack of sports media pertained to
females, such as, Low volume of media attention, narrative focus, prominence of placement or

A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Environment
CHAPTER 4
POLLUTION DUE TO EMISSIONS
IC engines generate undesirable emissions during the combustion process. The emissions exhausted
into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems.
Global warming
Acid rain
Smog
Odors
Respiratory and other health hazards.
The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen,
and impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC),
oxides of carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon
particulates.
It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity
of harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major
impact on the environment. However with the present technology this is not possible, and after
treatment of the exhaust gases as well as in cylinder reduction of emissions is important.
4.1 AIR POLLUTION DUE TO IC ENGINES
Until the middle of the 20th century the number of IC engines in the world was so small that the
pollution they caused was tolerable. During that period the environment, with the help of sunlight,
stayed relatively clean. As world population grew, power plants, factories, and an ever increasing
number of automobiles began to pollute the air to the extent that it is no longer acceptable. During
the late 1940s, air pollution as a problem was first recognized in the Los Angeles basin

Law of Unilateral Mistake
RESEARCH ESSAY Cases under the law of mistake can be divided into common, mutual and
unilateral mistake; however this discussion is based on unilateral mistake, as Stephen Graw said:
Operative unilateral mistake occurs when only one party in the contract is mistaken, the other party
is or should be aware of that mistake and yet he purports to proceed with the agreement anyway.
Cases under unilateral mistake can be divided into three categories: Firstly mistaken identity,
secondly mistake as to the terms of a contract and thirdly mistake as to the nature of a document

identity of another. Mistaken identity may happen in two different... Show more content on

In King s Norton Metal Co v Edridge, Merret amp; Co Ltd, it was held that there was a contract
between King s Norton and Wallis, for the simple reason that there was no such entity called

defendant; and thus the defendants were therefore not liable to pay back the goods or its value

voidable, and hence to identify which one of the two parties has the right to the title of the
goods. It has been said that if a party makes a mistake as to the identity of the person he is
contracting with then there is no contract, or if there is a contract then it is void such that no
property can transfer under it. The legal principle prior to Phillips v Brooks is that depending on
the facts, if the court s decision is that the contract is void for mistake then the mistaken party
still has the right to the title of the goods as it was seen in Cundy v Lindsay, or the mistaken
party will have no legal obligation to pay for the goods as it was seen in Boulton v Jones. However,

The Cause And Effects Of The Little Ice Age
Little Ice Age For five centuries, Europe basked in warm, settled weather, with only the
occasional bitter winters, cool summers and memorable storms. Summer after summer passed
with long, dreamy days, golden sunlight and bountiful harvests. Compared with what was to
follow, these centuries were a climatic golden age. (Homewood)The cold weather of these
centuries lead to the growth of Glaciers. Glaciers form when snow stays in the same area year
round, and them becomes ice. Each year the new layer add to the old ones and it forms a big pile
of ice. Eventually the air pockets get smaller and the ice gets tighter compacted. For most Glaciers
take about 100 years to go through the process.(National Snow) Due to the Cold climateand
starvation, the Little Ice agekilled off a huge amount of the Northern Hemisphere between the 13th
and 19th centuries. There is no telling what happened to cause the Little Ice Age. Many scientists
have tried to figure this mystery out. Not all of them agree, but some think what caused the
disaster is that the sun started giving off less heat and that there was an increase in volcanic
erupting. Others say that the decrease in greenhouse gas lead to larger amounts of sea ice. Also,

If a burger, fries and Sprite are blended together and tested for monosaccharides, starches, proteins

If chutney is tested for monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids, then it will test positive for

her. Lily is well born but poor. The story traces the decline of Lilyas she moves through a series of

The irony of the situation is that most women who are accepted by society and are able to
maintain the role of being something worthy to look at are able to do so only because of a
husband who supplies them with the necessary funds to achieve it. In other words, in a male
dominated society wherein women largely need the financial support of men to be accepted, they
have become commodities. Lily recognizes this predicament when she ponders her marriage to
Percy Gryce, a position where she would be to him what his Americana hitherto had been: the one
possession in which he took sufficient pride to spend money on (Wharton 65).
Yet, this very society that demand its women be superficial creatures that merit worth only by
appearance is also one which immediately rejects a woman who seems intent on marrying a man

no good at hiding her desire to marry a man of wealth. In fact, she even tells Selden, her true love,
that she is very expensive and must have a great deal of money (Wharton 31). These kinds of

Conception Of An Educated Person
Most individuals consider an educated person to be a professor, lawyer, doctor, or anyone who

anyone who holds a piece of knowledge that can be obtained through one s day to day life. One is
not required to attend an institution of higher learning to be considered an educated person, nor is
it necessary that he or she earns a degree, or even a diploma. Despite many individuals believing
that a traditional educationmust be received in order to be considered an educated person, there are

he or she has obtained. Although an individual may be considered educated , he or she does not

Agricultural Revolution Essay
Welcome to the age of an agricultural revolution as everyday biotechnology continues to bring
innovation to human s most basic needs food. Food is essential to any living organism, providing
energy for our production and nutrients for our protection. Without this fundamental element, life
cannot exist. Our lack to produce our own energy, like plants, causes us to become dependent on
others for survival. Humans existence is attributed only to the million years of evolution our food
source underwent to sustain our survival. Changing the primary nature of our food source, whether
it is plant or animal, directs mankind in a dangerous future if our food dependency is permanently
hampered. Welcome to the age of an agricultural devolution... Show more content on

With only a 20 year history, genetic engineeringis only a young science with much uncertainly
relativity compared to other fields. Much of the elements bioengineering studies and experiments,
the DNA genome and sequence, are still unknown to the scientific community. Changes in genes
greatly transform the condition, structure, and essence of an organism, giving us an entirely
different and unnatural creation. Even when the physical effects are barely noticeable or deemed
safe and ethical, these modified creations effects on the environment are impossible to predict and
will only emerge when the damage done becomes evident to the human population. Though a large
unknown looms over modifying genes, bioengineering industries insist upon dismissing the scare
over genetic foods with the vast potential miracle foods can benefit upon human society.
Most of the promises made by these corporations are promises of luxury, not necessity, and carry an
inherently and dangerous risk. As science continues to understand further the basic element of life,
DNA, the danger involved genetically modifying organisms becomes apparent. The beneficial
potential genetic engineering brings are attractive, but paradoxically it also brings disastrous
potential at a greater degree. The qualities brought forth by these GM foods are not necessary for
our survival and only brings forth dangerous consequences to our health, environment, and
economy. In order to

[2018] [Hyundai Sonata] vs [Toyota Camry]
Sedans are spacious cars, and they are perfect for most families. Modern sedans have comfortable

sedans have an adequate amount of trunk space. There is plenty of space for groceries and
baseball gear. The 2018 Hyundai Sonata is a roomy sedan. The vehicle is a great choice for most
peoples. The 2018 Toyota Camry is a strong competitor, but the 2018 Hyundai Sonata has several
more options.

The 2018 Sonata resembles its predecessor, but the newer model is a big improvement over the
previous model. The vehicle has a distinctive long roof that looks better than the previous design.

Different Types of Tears During Shoulder Dislocation Essay
With all of the tears, the first type of tear is one where the labrum is torn all of the way off of the
bone. This type of tear usually correlates with an injury to the shoulder where the shoulder has
subluxated or dislocated. Sometimes, this tear occurs and the individual does not realize that the
shoulderhas slid out of the socket. This can make it much worse and cause other types of injuries to
the ligaments around the shoulder.
The second type of labrum tear is tearing within the actual labrum. The sides of the labrum after a
while may get frayed, meaning a slight tear where the labrum slowly starts to unravel like yarn, so
that the edge is no longer even and smooth. This type of tearing is proven to be pretty common and

All of the different tears have the same symptoms for the most part, as I explained before. There
are many different sports that one can find this injury in, especially when it is located in the
shoulder. Sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, football, frisbee, basketball and even hockey
are just some of the many sports that doctors have found this injury to be common in. This past
year, a boy on my brothers hockey team tore his shoulder labrum at the beginning of the hockey
season. He was not able to practice, nor play in games during this time. Surgery for his injury
was performed in November, just as the hockey season was kicking off. His recovery is expected
to take about 6 months because of the severity of the injury. He was originally in a sling for the
first month. Doctors protocol had him icing everyday for at least two hours for the first month
after surgery as well. Once swelling began to go down, he began physical therapy. Currently, he s
not allowed to lift more than 20 pounds. Physical therapy is going really well and he is already
supposed to shorten his expected recovery time. He should be back in for this upcoming season.
There are a very small amount of easy treatments possible for this injury. Depending on the type of
labral tear and intensity of symptoms, one may need surgery. Most tears, both shoulder and hip, do
not depend upon surgery, but patients that obtain

Persuasive Essay About English Bulldogs
During the decade that I bred, raised, and placed English Bulldogs into their new forever homes, I
ran into many issues both with the dogs and the people I encountered along the way. Although I
researched the breed thoroughly prior to the purchase of my own English Bulldogs, I still managed
encounter health and temperament issues of the dogs, as well as the common greedily natured
people wanting to breedthem to make a quick buck. There are, however many wonderful owners
of English Bulldogs that love their dogs immensely; often treating them as they would a child and
spoiling them rotten. These types of people were the very reason I began to raise English Bulldogs.
Since I too had experienced the great love of this breed, I decided to... Show more content on

It is also believed by breeders that a dog passes certain champion qualities down to their offspring
by way of lineage.
Inbreeding in the dog s lineage is one key point of the Pedigree that no one really talks about to
the non showing potential owners; it is indicated by one dog being used to sire multiple lines of
the family tree. The AKC does not discourage this and often it is difficult to recognize for a non
showing owner. Many show breeders will not allow their puppies to be purchased by non show
homes in an attempt to preserve their lines. According to A genetic assessment of the English
bulldog , written by N. Pedersen, A. Pooch, and H. Liu, there is very little knowledge about the
actual genetic status of the breed and whether enough genetic and phenotypic diversity still exists
to significantly improve health without further reducing existing genetic diversity or relying on
outcrossing (4) (breed two dogs from different lineage to add fresh blood to the family tree).
However, many show breeders believe that they must utilize a sire across more than one line
within their pedigree to preserve the specific traits of the breed that make their bloodlines of
champion quality. One could argue that in doing so, they are reintroducing certain predispositions
back into their own bloodlines two fold; reinforcing what may be a defect of sorts in their own lines.
I had to learn very quickly what predisposition meant in regards to breeding. Many English Bulldog

In spite of major cryptographic advances, failure to ensure compatibility between centralization,
anonymity, and double spending prevention, eventually put the viability of this new form of money
into question. Three decades later, Bitcoin has acquired notoriety on the global marketplace, by
replacing the central server s signature with a consensus mechanism based on proof of work (Back
et al, 2014, p.3). The novelty and improvement over Chaum s thought experiment are the
decentralized nature of the payment system allowed by block chain technology, thereby ushering in
a new era that extends beyond global payments, to corporate governance, social institutions,
democratic participation and the functioning of capital markets (Wright and De Filippi, 2015, p.3).
In this chapter, we present the main principles behind this revolutionary technology as well as some
cutting edge applications. In a first part, we present the core concepts. Secondly, we discuss a
definition by Vitalik Buterin, the distinction between public and private block chains, and the
features of public ledgers. Thirdly, after restating the foundational and disruptive nature of this
technology, we present the risks and drawbacks of public distributed ledgers, and show why the
latter explain the shift toward hybrid solutions. Finally, we sketch out a list of important
applications, bearing in mind the most recent developments.

Learning Responsibility On City Sidewalks By Jane Jacobs
Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks
In the essay Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks , the author Jane Jacobs shows us that it
is important to let children interact with city sidewalks because they can learn lots of things
there. On the other hand, the author also argues that it is necessary to select appropriate public
areas because not all the public areas can give children advantage lessons. Based on author s
observations, some parents will allow their children play in parks so they are convenient to take
care of children and save money for hiring daycare. However, it is not useful for children to learn in
this environment. For example, children will not learn independent under parent s supervision.

According to the essay Nature Through the Looking Glass , the author believes that people
should be part of nature, but most of the time people do not have real touch activity of nature.
Under the strong competition society, it is not easy for a normal worker to go outside and
interact with the nature. Those green plants on two sides of the city sidewalk is one of the
chances for people to get touch to nature. More importantly, walking in the city sidewalks is
easier than having a travel, which can satisfy most of the city people s working requirement .
Also, nature world will bring quiet life for people I always ask myself, if I can live without
business area, after reading the essay The Forged City . And I get a response, which is people
need to get out of business activities and come back to nature even a short time in each day.
Without interest relationship, people s life will become simple and pure. Shopping malls cannot
replace traditional city centers because people have large limitations in business malls. In contrast,
people can observe different levels people in the society with equality ideas in traditional city
centers. City sidewalks can fit for this requirement and provide a comfortable area for all of us.

Budget Justification For The Program
Budget Justification
The budget requested in this competitive renewal application is about 20% more than the current
budget. The primary reason for this increase is due to an increased expenditure in breeding
animals and animal service charges as we expanded the use of animals in the proposed grant. In
the past 4 years, employee salaries at the UT Heath Center were increased by about 10%. This
contributed a minor fraction of the increase. We used a 3% costescalation in preparing the budget
for future years.

Question 1: Explain the theoretical rationale for the NPV approach to investment appraisal and
compare the strengths and weaknesses of the NPV approach to two other commonly used
approaches. (30 marks)
This first section of this paper will provide a brief explanation on theoretical rationale for the net
present value (NPV) method of investment appraisal and then compare its strengths and
weaknesses to two alternative methods of investment appraisal, those of internal rate of return
(IRR) and pay back.
Theoretical rationale for the NPV approach
The net present value rule or NPV devised by Hirshleifer (1958), is the fundamental model of how
firms decide whether to invest in a project, commonly known as the investment decision , or ...

G is also happy to invest because they can borrow against the future payoff of the investment. By
investing G gets ВЈ20,000 more to spend today (ВЈ200,000 less ВЈ180,000). It would pay for either
investor to borrow to invest in the opportunity due to the returns on offer.
Despite the reality of known imperfections in capital markets (e.g. taxation, transaction costs,
asymmetric information), overall the use of NPV makes sense as a corporate objective. Certain
imperfections can be modelled into financials, providing a more realistic picture. Brealey et al
(2008) state that the use of NPV for uncertain cash flows makes sense too, providing there is free
access to competitive capital markets. This is due to when affirm chooses only positive NPV
projects, they will be meeting the shareholders and firms objective of maximising wealth. Instead of
solely seeking a maximisation of wealth that might negatively impact in other areas (e.g. future
profits, return on investment etc), NPV accounts for the time value of money, opportunity cost of
capital and differences in project rates of return.
Comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of the NPV approach to two other commonly used
approaches
This report will now focus on comparing the strengths and weaknesses of the NPV approach to two
other investment appraisal approaches, internal rate of return (IRR) and pay back.

Advantages Of Visual Impairment
Parenting a Teenager with a Visual Impairment
Being the parent of a teenager can be a challenging job. When your teenager is visually impaired,
however, you may find yourself dealing with all the issues most families encounter plus others. You
may notice at times that your child s visual impairment affects her ability to make friends,
participate in the activities other teenagers are doing, or keep up in school.
Alternatively, your child may be doing well in these areas but perhaps be struggling emotionally
with feelings about her visual impairment, herself, and her future.
From Your Perspective
Each child is unique, and your daughter s successes and struggles will be her own. However, you
may want to keep the following in mind.
There may be times when you observe your child struggling to do something such as prepare a
meal herself or feeling dejected because her vision loss keeps her from getting a learner s permit
for driving. These incidents may cause you to grieve for the normal sight your child doesn t have.
Feelings of anger, denial, or depression are common in circumstances like these, even if your child
has had her visual impairment since birth or early childhood.
When you feel this way, it may be helpful to try to turn it around and think about the things your
daughter has learned to do, such as taking the bus downtown by herself or opportunities she s had
because of her visual impairment, such as attending a summer work program or a college
preparatory program for teenagers who are visually impaired.
From Your Teenager s Perspective
It can be a challenge to communicate with any teenager, so don t be surprised if your daughter
doesn t want to talk about her feelings about being visually impaired. Let her know that you re
there to talk but realize she may not want to talk to you, or anyone, about how she s feeling.
It may help at times to try putting into words how she appears to you You look down in the
dumps this morning, or You look really excited! Hearing you acknowledge what she might be
feeling may help your child open up and either talk with you or tell you that you re wrong. Either
way, you may be able to help her explore her feelings and give her a chance to express herself.

What Is The Similarities Of The Fourknocks In Co. Meath
This essay aims to compare and contrast the nature of the rituals that would have taken place at
any two of the sites that we encountered on our fieldtrip. The two megalithic sites that will be
compared and contrasted in this essay will be the passage tomb known as Fourknocks in Co.
Meath and the Proleek wedge tomb in Co. Louth. Both of these megalithic tombs characterise the
majority of the Irish landscape and are of great importance to archaeologists as they give us an
insight to the lifestyles and social structures of the societies that would have constructed these
wonderful megalithic sites.
Megalithic sites like Fourknocks and the Proleek wedge tomb are at the centre of controversy
within the archaeological profession. There is little or no doubt that these large stone structures
were erected in order to hold the remains of the dead but archaeologists would also like to believe
that there is more to these large stone structures then just having a funerary orientated purpose
(Brown, 1979). Other purposes that could be related to these monuments include, links to the spirit
world, astronomical, directional or calendrical purposes (Brown, 1979).

The Blue Green Anesthesia Mask Essay
As I m wheeled through the silver doors into the sterile white operating room, I begin to panic.
This is my first surgery, and I feel as if I am in a living nightmare. Before I can even think about
it, the nurses guide me onto the skinny white operating room bed. A few seconds later, the blue
green anesthesia mask is put on my face, and I feel like I am going underwater with my eyes
closed. Then everything around me goes completely black. I was diagnosed with a rare, non
agressive type of skin cancer on my scalp in 2011. Soon after diagnosis, I underwent an MRI to
see exactly how big the cancer was. Fortunately, it was only the size of a pencil eraser. After
seeing countless doctors, we (my parents and I) finally decided to see a surgeon specializing in
cancer at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. We met with the cancer
surgeon (Dr. Wayne), and he agreed to remove the cancer. We also saw a plastic surgeon (Dr.
Kim) the same day to discuss reconstruction options so that my scalp would look as normal as
possible after the surgery. My surgery is scheduled for the morning of February 8, 2012 at 7 AM;
however, we need to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 to start the preparation process. As we walk
through the Outpatient Surgery unit doors, I immediately notice the amount of chaos surrounding
the unit. You wouldn t know that it was only 5:30 AM with all the noise! There are people

  • 2. Benefits Of The For Medicare Payment System ( Mips ) MIPS. It sounds like some kind of disease. And for many providers, it will likely cause as much pain. Starting in 2017, physicians will have to deal with the Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). MIPS is intended to measure the performance of Medicare Part B providers in four different performance areas (30% by VBM measured resource use (claims data), 30% by VBM measured quality (PQRS data), 25% by Meaningful Use (EHR data), and 15% by a newly introduced clinical practice improvement measure). Providers will then be given a score between 0 and 100. These scores will impact practices in a couple of different ways: 1)Negative scores will affect providers Medicare reimbursement 2)Scores will be made available to consumers online ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning next year, 2017, providers will begin to be scored by the new MIPS measurements and that score will directly impact 2019 reimbursements. And, as we mentioned, on top of being financially impacted by MIPS, providers are also looking at reputation ramifications of low MIPS scores, which will be made public online. The sooner practices can ensure their performance in Meaningful Use, PQRS, and the Value Based Modifier, the better prepared they ll be for 2019 MIPS implementation. What Can You Do to Get Ready? With a little over 6 months to prepare, there is much physicians can do to get themselves and their practices ready for MIPS implementation and set themselves up for success. Focus You Efforts When you look at the percentages that will make up the MIPS scores, about 85% will go toward PQRS, MU and VBM. In other words, while you may have secretly prayed at night for these incentive programs to go away, they are not going anywhere. These are the areas you ve got to focus your efforts on right now. Become a master at these and you ll be way ahead of the game in 2017. Identify the Quality Measures That Will Most Affect You You ll want to drill down to identify the clinical quality measures in these current programs that will affect your scope of practice the most. Once you identify them, get as familiar as you can with them so you can score well in your sleep! Maximize Efficiency Because you don t have a plethora of hours in the day to practice ... • 3. Too Much Water Is Poison For Flower Seeds Essay Too much water is poison for flower seeds. When I was in elementary school, this words made me shocked. I believed that the more I watered them, the more beautifully the flowers would bloom, so actually, I gave a lot of water to my flowers. However, because of my too much care , I failed to grow them. Like this phrase, when we care about something too much , it can be a poison. Of course, there are many cases, but I think the most serious one is parent s too much care , in other words, their interference with children. In my speech, too much care means parents do what their children are trying to do instead of them, even though they do not need their help. For example, when children have trouble tying their shoes, then the parent immediately ties their shoelaces instead of letting them learn to do it. Of course, children need parents assistance, but is it really the best support for children? Today, I would like to talk about parents attitudes of interfering with children s attempts at learning. Through my speech, I want parents and future parents to think of the circumstances that enable your children to try a lot of things. Some of you may say, Interfere? I ll never do such a stupid thing! but it is mistaken assumption. According to NHK, more than 50% of the parents interfere with their children with meaning no harm. So, it is a fairly common problem in Japan. Parent s behavior can sometimes be poison to child s mental wellbeing. According ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ode to the West Wind Essay The wind is one of the most powerful forces known to man. It can do things that man has been envious of and also terrified of throughout the centuries. It is no wonder why Shelley decided to write a poem of praise in its name. Shelley writes this poem with the speaker being a poet himself frustrated that he can not tell the world the things that he feels the world needs to know. Throughout the poem he continually is describing what the wind can do and what he wishes the wind could do for him. It may be better to describe Shelley before I try to interpret the poem. Shelley was an intelligent man who studied at Oxford before being kicked out for refusing to admit authorship of The Necessity of Atheism. He continued to write and express... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shelley was bringing ...his two countries closer together with the structure of a poem. (Shmoop Editorial Team) It could also be argued that Shelley was using the terza rima to emulate Dante since he was one the great writers of that time. Although these are very plausible thoughts on what this structure could mean, we still may never know what exactly was meant by it. After a first read of the poem many literary techniques that Shelley used to catch the eye of the reader. The imagery that is used in this poem is matched by no other poem that I have read, using scenes of yellow, and black, and pale, and hectic red (Shelley 4) leaves and of the crystГ lline streams (Shelley 31) to give a clear mental picture of exactly what Shelley wants to portray. Metaphors are also a huge contributing factor to his ability to be able to describe what exactly he wants to describe. Throughout the poem he refers to his thoughts being leaves that are dead and withered and that he wishes the west wind could take these leaves of his and disperse them like it does the literal leaves of the fall. Along with the imagery and metaphors he also uses allusions to Greek mythology describe how the wind is powerful enough to move the clouds Like the bright hair uplifted from the head/ Of some fierce MГ¦nad (Shelley 20 21). His word choice throughout the poem is mainly to credit for the way that his message is portrayed. The poem is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Sergio Leone s A Fistfull Of Dollars What could be more quintessentially American than having a national touchstone be reinvented by a foreigner? By the time Sergio Leone began work on A Fistfull of Dollars in 1964, the Western and all of its trappings had been around for nearly a century. Whether it be through literature, film, television, or radio, stories of pitched gun battles and hard fought backwater living in that peculiar period of the untamed American frontier became one of the United States chief cultural exports. Over the course of the Dollars Trilogy of A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More(1965) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966) in addition to Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) Leone took the trappings of the Western and completely turned the genre on its head in both style and substance. Unlike the saintly heroes of old, Clint Eastwoods Man With No Name was a remorseless killer, only concerned with the gold in his pocket and the poncho on his back. Violence was not as quick and easy as John Ford would lead you to believe: Leone was unafraid to depict violence in full while making it clear that taking the life of another was an ugly and pointless endeavor. Higher notions of heroism and civilization had no place in Leone s world, his characters interested only in enriching themselves or settling the score with their adversaries. Out on a frontier bereft of social structure or authority, Leone s characters shape their own reality with a few well placed dollars and a loaded gun. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crime And Punishment During The Prohibition Era Research Essay Creating a legal age to cease the criminal behavior during the prohibition era would create a solution because it s no longer illegal for people to sell or consume alcohol and organized crime rates within gangsters would decrease. Prohibition began once the 18th amendment was passed, this banned the manufacturing, selling, consumption, and transportation of alcohol. Alcohol was seen as the devil s advocate so the government thought prohibition would help decrease violence and improve the lives of so many Americans. During prohibition crime rates raised tremendously, people didn t care that drinking or selling alcohol was illegal, they continued to drink anyways, opening up saloons, speakeasies and illegal bars. • 9. Faith and Organized Religion Essay Many skeptics in today s culture are convinced that organized religion does more harm than good. Many of these people make persuasive arguments that are or can be conclusive. In some cases, they say, a church, has too much power, is filled with politics and its rituals take away from God and put emphasis on one s self; therefore, faithis what matters. In the novel A Portrait of The Artist as Young Man by James Joyce, readers see Stephen go through life with faith, surrounded by others with faith and religious activities. After a while, Steven loses sight of true faith, forgets Godand becomes an artist. Faith is defined as the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. After this confession, he found his faith and became a new man. Stephen began rituals, Sunday was dedicated to the mystery of the Holy Trinity, Monday to the Holy Ghost, Tuesday to the Guardian Angel... (Portrait, 103). Stephen immediately jumped from being only concerned with himself, doing nothing for the Lord and engulfed in sin. Stephen even wore rosary, then at the end he lost faith. Stephen consumed himself with acts and rituals so much that it could be said he lost faith. The rituals took him away from God and put emphasis on what he wanted to be, an artist. The rituals of organized religion pushed him to the edge. As Stephen was in the transaction of sanctification, he started to go through the motions. Stephen did everything according to feeling. For example, when he felt like he was not saved, he repented to gain God s power. A restless feeling of guilt would always be present with him: he would confess, repent, and be absolved, confess and repent again and be absolved fruitlessly (Portrait, 109). Stephen was entirely in control of his own thoughts; he knew he could go back to the way he was at any second. Stephen wanted to be free and to express himself for who he was and not who everyone wanted him to be. • 10. The Greatest Movie Ever Sold The Greatest Movie Ever Sold Media is everywhere, it became a part of our life. We are exposed to thousands of ad messages every day and it s hard to imagine how it would feel to live without them constantly surrounding us. Today we see ads in print publications, TV commercials, emails, on different products, massively scattered in sport venues, and it s even spreading into public spaces. In his documentary, Morgan Spurlock delivered a fascinating satire of the process of placing products into movies and tried to delve into the nature of advertising in our society. Brands are extremely concerned with their public image, and that s why in Quentin Tarantino s case Denny s refused to take part in his movies. His movies usually contain blood and murder scenes and no company wanted to risk being associated with this theme. One of the topics covered in the movie is the topic of selling out. The question is whether Spurlock is selling out or not, and what would selling out look like if it s not the case here. The opinion of the people, that have been asked this question seems to converge on the notion that he is not selling out, because he s doing the thing he planned from the start. The provision of the law would allow employees who have worked for one year and have worked at least 1,250 hours to use the unpaid leavefor family or medical reasons (DeCenzo 267). As loyal as he was to the Lord of the Black Sands, something dark crawled and writhed about inside him whenever he was in the man s presence. Not that Eckhart was a perfect or even moral man under any definitions, but Gammon, the Demon Lord, took being evil to extremes that made even the most heartless and bloodthirsty men cringe. Inside, the castle s floor and walls were a dense black material that seemed to absorb the lighting from the braziers positioned every few feet in the hallways and took every inch of heat from within the walls as well. According to Susan, The Bank of America would sponsor a questionable Warrior to Work program, agreeing to hire 50 veterans per year as full time employees, regardless of qualifications. The board is faced with a conflict of interest, which might benefit Susan and her husband. Conflicts of interest among a board of directors can take several forms and this situation leaves no room for negotiation. It is a best practice to avoid or minimize conflicts of interest. Non profit board members should be discharged of their duties in accordance with their inability act in the best interests of the organization. • 14. Renewable Energy Source Capable Of Solving The Current... For years, scientists have been pursuing the discovery of a beneficial alternative energy source capable of solving the current energy crisis. Some of the most popular forms are solar energy, wind energy, and nuclear energy. Although solar, wind, and nuclear energy have many benefits, they are vastly detrimental to our environment. Solar energyrequires a copious amount of space, wind energy is aesthetically disturbing and harmful to wildlife, and nuclear energy s working fluid is highly pollutant. In turn, scientists have recently discovered the vast potential of ocean energy. The United States of America needs to pursue the further development of ocean energy. First, the ocean furnishes high levels of energy availability. The ocean stands as the largest energy collector because of its massive size. According to Renewable EnergyWorld, the sea stands as the largest solar energy collector because almost three fourths of earth s surface is ocean (Ocean Energy: Renewable [1]). The Oceans are in one sense, according to the Environmental Encyclopedia a huge storage tank for solar energy ( Ocean Thermal [1]). Because the vast majority of earth is covered by the ocean, the ocean has more space to create energy than any other plant, panel, or mill. Ocean water is in surplus while land only covers approximately 25 30% of earth s surface. While open and unused land supplies diminish yearly, the ocean continues to occupy relatively the same amount of surface area. Second, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the story evolves, we learn Snape s story and the side he actually is on. Professor Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 2 May, 1998) was a half blood wizard who was the son of the witch Eileen Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. James Potter: James and his group of friends were constantly at war with Severus throughout their school years. Severus s memories, recorded in the Pensieve, suggest that he was an introverted and studious individual, whereas James was arrogant, popular, and athletic. Immediately upon meeting him, James disliked Severus for expressing a desire to be in Slytherin. James s big crush on Lily, and Severus s close friendship and unrequited love for her also heightened the tension between the two. One recorded memory in the Pensieve bears witness to James bullying him, turning him upside down to reveal his underwear in front of many students, including Lily. Lily came to Severus s defence, but this only made things worse: in a subsequent lashing out at James in an attempt to recover his lost dignity, Severus inadvertently called Lily a Mudblood. Lily refused to forgive him for it, even after his repeated apologies. This would forever be Severus s worst memory as it was seen by Harry whilst in the Pensieve. Many think that immigrants coming to America are taking many jobs away from who need them. Some also think that there are jobs being taken away are not ones that Americans would not perform due to the horrible working conditions, low pay, and lack of important medical coverage. The immigrationissue has come to a point where the United States must make a decision to spend a lot of money to curtail the amount of immigrants coming here. Immigrants are not necessarily taking jobs away from the hard American worker. The work occupations that the immigrants take are illegal for any legal (licensed) employer to employ any American worker. The typical job sites that would be including but not limited to: unsanitary working conditions, dangerous equipment without proper safety precautions, extremely long working days, and less than minimum wage for work rendered. There is not one citizen in this country that would stand for such an outrageous environment to work in or work for a company that allows it to happen. Many citizens would go directly to an inspection board to have the factory and/or plant evaluated to see if the factory could pass any sort of inspection for the welfare of the workers. Hence, the factory/plant would be closed down and there would be even fewer jobs for Americans. Immigrants are a growing part of the labor force. Much less is known about the role of the cell cycle at very early stages of embryonic development. Here, we show that molecular pathways involving the cell cycle can be engineered to strongly affect embryonic stem celldifferentiation at early stages in vitro. Strategies based on perturbing these pathways can shorten the rate and simplify the lineage path of ES differentiation. These results make it likely that pathways involving cell proliferation intersect at various points with pathways that regulate cell lineages in embryos and demonstrate that this knowledge can be used profitably to guide the path and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is surprising, for example, that mouse and human ES cells appear to be so different with respect to the molecules that mediate their self renewal, and perhaps even in their developmental potentials. BMPs, for example, in combination with LIF, promote the self renewal of mouse ES cells. But in conditions that would otherwise support undifferentiated proliferation, BMPs cause rapid differentiation of human ES cells. Also, human ES cells differentiate quite readily to trophoblast, whereas mouse ES cells do so poorly, if at all. One would expect that at some level, the basic molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency would be conserved, and indeed, human and mouse ES cells share the expression of many key genes. Yet we remain remarkably ignorant about the molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency, and the nature of this remarkable cellular state has become one of the central questions of developmental biology. Of course, the other great challenge will be to continue to unravel the factors that control the differentiation of human ES cells to specific lineages, so that ES cells can fulfill their tremendous promise in basic human biology, drug screening, and transplantation ... Simply because Romans 1:17 states that For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, [a] just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith (Bible Gateway, Rom 1.17). Extracting oil hurts the environment a lot by creating pollution in the soil and waters due to oil spills. Therefore, agriculture decreased and many people were left without harvest to sell and others lost their job in the cultivating industry. Law of Unilateral Mistake RESEARCH ESSAY Cases under the law of mistake can be divided into common, mutual and unilateral mistake; however this discussion is based on unilateral mistake, as Stephen Graw said: Operative unilateral mistake occurs when only one party in the contract is mistaken, the other party is or should be aware of that mistake and yet he purports to proceed with the agreement anyway. Cases under unilateral mistake can be divided into three categories: Firstly mistaken identity, secondly mistake as to the terms of a contract and thirdly mistake as to the nature of a document signed. The main focus in this discussion is mistaken identity, where one party is mistaken as to the identity of another. Mistaken identity may happen in two different... In King s Norton Metal Co v Edridge, Merret amp; Co Ltd, it was held that there was a contract between King s Norton and Wallis, for the simple reason that there was no such entity called Hallam amp; Co, and hence good title passed from King s Norton to the rogue, and later to the defendant; and thus the defendants were therefore not liable to pay back the goods or its value to King s Norton. Therefore the effect of unilateral mistake is that it will make a contract void or voidable, and hence to identify which one of the two parties has the right to the title of the goods. It has been said that if a party makes a mistake as to the identity of the person he is contracting with then there is no contract, or if there is a contract then it is void such that no property can transfer under it. The legal principle prior to Phillips v Brooks is that depending on the facts, if the court s decision is that the contract is void for mistake then the mistaken party still has the right to the title of the goods as it was seen in Cundy v Lindsay, or the mistaken party will have no legal obligation to pay for the goods as it was seen in Boulton v Jones. The Cause And Effects Of The Little Ice Age Little Ice Age For five centuries, Europe basked in warm, settled weather, with only the occasional bitter winters, cool summers and memorable storms. Summer after summer passed with long, dreamy days, golden sunlight and bountiful harvests. Compared with what was to follow, these centuries were a climatic golden age. (Homewood)The cold weather of these centuries lead to the growth of Glaciers. Glaciers form when snow stays in the same area year round, and them becomes ice. Each year the new layer add to the old ones and it forms a big pile of ice. Eventually the air pockets get smaller and the ice gets tighter compacted. For most Glaciers take about 100 years to go through the process.(National Snow) Due to the Cold climateand starvation, the Little Ice agekilled off a huge amount of the Northern Hemisphere between the 13th and 19th centuries. There is no telling what happened to cause the Little Ice Age. Many scientists have tried to figure this mystery out. Not all of them agree, but some think what caused the disaster is that the sun started giving off less heat and that there was an increase in volcanic erupting. Others say that the decrease in greenhouse gas lead to larger amounts of sea ice. Also, he slow greenhouse gas increase was the main driver of the sea ice changes.(SedlГЎДЌek, Jan and Lawrence)No one knows which one of these inferences are correct, but with technology getting more sophisticated, future scientist might be able to solve the mystery of the ... The heroine is Lily Bart, a woman who is destroyed by the very society that produces her. Lily is well born but poor. The story traces the decline of Lilyas she moves through a series of living residences, from houses to hotel lodgings. Lily lives in a New York society where appearances are all. Women have a decorative function in such an environment, and even her name, Lily, suggests she is a flower of femininity, i.e. an object of decoration as well as of desirability to the male element. The irony of the situation is that most women who are accepted by society and are able to maintain the role of being something worthy to look at are able to do so only because of a husband who supplies them with the necessary funds to achieve it. In other words, in a male dominated society wherein women largely need the financial support of men to be accepted, they have become commodities. Lily recognizes this predicament when she ponders her marriage to Percy Gryce, a position where she would be to him what his Americana hitherto had been: the one possession in which he took sufficient pride to spend money on (Wharton 65). Yet, this very society that demand its women be superficial creatures that merit worth only by appearance is also one which immediately rejects a woman who seems intent on marrying a man with wealth the one course open to women who wish to be accepted in society. This may be where one of Lily s character qualities prevents her from being able to join such a society. She is no good at hiding her desire to marry a man of wealth. The AKC does not discourage this and often it is difficult to recognize for a non showing owner. However, many show breeders believe that they must utilize a sire across more than one line within their pedigree to preserve the specific traits of the breed that make their bloodlines of champion quality. When your teenager is visually impaired, however, you may find yourself dealing with all the issues most families encounter plus others. You may notice at times that your child s visual impairment affects her ability to make friends, participate in the activities other teenagers are doing, or keep up in school. Alternatively, your child may be doing well in these areas but perhaps be struggling emotionally with feelings about her visual impairment, herself, and her future. From Your Perspective Each child is unique, and your daughter s successes and struggles will be her own. However, you may want to keep the following in mind. There may be times when you observe your child struggling to do something such as prepare a meal herself or feeling dejected because her vision loss keeps her from getting a learner s permit for driving. These incidents may cause you to grieve for the normal sight your child doesn t have. Feelings of anger, denial, or depression are common in circumstances like these, even if your child has had her visual impairment since birth or early childhood. When you feel this way, it may be helpful to try to turn it around and think about the things your daughter has learned to do, such as taking the bus downtown by herself or opportunities she s had because of her visual impairment, such as attending a summer work program or a college preparatory program for teenagers who are visually impaired. • 52. What Is The Similarities Of The Fourknocks In Co. Meath This essay aims to compare and contrast the nature of the rituals that would have taken place at any two of the sites that we encountered on our fieldtrip. The two megalithic sites that will be compared and contrasted in this essay will be the passage tomb known as Fourknocks in Co. Meath and the Proleek wedge tomb in Co. Louth. Both of these megalithic tombs characterise the majority of the Irish landscape and are of great importance to archaeologists as they give us an insight to the lifestyles and social structures of the societies that would have constructed these wonderful megalithic sites. Megalithic sites like Fourknocks and the Proleek wedge tomb are at the centre of controversy within the archaeological profession. There is little or no doubt that these large stone structures were erected in order to hold the remains of the dead but archaeologists would also like to believe that there is more to these large stone structures then just having a funerary orientated purpose (Brown, 1979). The main burial chamber is very spacious. When you enter this amazing monument you feel you cross into another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Blue Green Anesthesia Mask Essay As I m wheeled through the silver doors into the sterile white operating room, I begin to panic. This is my first surgery, and I feel as if I am in a living nightmare. Before I can even think about it, the nurses guide me onto the skinny white operating room bed. A few seconds later, the blue green anesthesia mask is put on my face, and I feel like I am going underwater with my eyes closed. Then everything around me goes completely black. I was diagnosed with a rare, non agressive type of skin cancer on my scalp in 2011. Soon after diagnosis, I underwent an MRI to see exactly how big the cancer was. Fortunately, it was only the size of a pencil eraser. After seeing countless doctors, we (my parents and I) finally decided to see a surgeon specializing in cancer at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. We met with the cancer surgeon (Dr. Wayne), and he agreed to remove the cancer. We also saw a plastic surgeon (Dr. Kim) the same day to discuss reconstruction options so that my scalp would look as normal as possible after the surgery. My surgery is scheduled for the morning of February 8, 2012 at 7 AM; however, we need to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 to start the preparation process. As we walk through the Outpatient Surgery unit doors, I immediately notice the amount of chaos surrounding the unit. You wouldn t know that it was only 5:30 AM with all the noise! There are people making phone calls, crying babies, and others who were trying to escape it all by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
