Marketing Simulation Analysis
When the simulation was first assigned, I really had no idea what to expect. I assumed that my group
members and I would be creating various written documents, which was clearly not the case. After
selecting a group composed mainly of my close friends, we began to read through the various
materials given to us to help us successfully complete the simulation. After watching a few of the
videos from our customers and reading the given document about Minnesota Mircromotors, we began
the simulation. Before the simulation started our group decided that we wanted to put customer
satisfaction as our top priority, over market share and profit. After our first quarter, we began to panic
because every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From then on out I left market research at the required $50,000 just to stay safe. One of the most
important parts of the game I found was spending on IMC. After the first quarter as a group, when we
did very poorly, we found that putting money into IMC was the best way to increase our profit and
market share. What I found that worked best regarding IMC, was to basically put all additional budget
into it. Almost every quarter I did this, my profits would continue to rise. When I did the simulation
individually, every time I gained more money in my total budget that money would address IMC first.
IMC was definitely the key to the game for me. The single most argued part of the simulation for our
group was the distribution of money in Power To Size Ratio, Manufacturing, and Thermal Resistance.
At first it seemed that no matter what we did as a group some customer would complain about
something. No customer complained more than Customer B complaining about wanting more thermal.
Our group found ourselves always arguing over how much money to put into which of the three
categories. We never really did a great job doing so because there was always an unhappy customer.
What I found to be the best method was based on sure luck. I really wanted to take some relatively
large risks in my last attempt at the individual simulation so I cut out Manufacturing Efficiency
Improvement entirely. After two quarters of making a huge profit, I kept that up until the end. This

Gender Roles in Creation Myths from Around the World
Different cultures and societies have their story of how the world began. These stories vary in the
process, but they all share one common theme. All of the stories begin with nothing or chaos, that is
until one being creates light, time, earth and its occupants. One common thing all myths share is the
role and status of women and men. In the Greek myth women were less dominant, Hindu myth
women are not even mentioned, and in Cherokee myth women are shown to be inferior.
Greek creation myth highlights how men and women differ in their status and roles. Women were the
inferior sex when compared to men, they were seen as intellects, and child ... Show more content on

Then an island is created and held up by four cords that connected to the sky. In that sky was where
the animals and other creatures lived. The island was formed when a water beetle decided to into the
ocean and brought up some mud. That mud began to expand until it turned into an island. After the
mud on the island dried a Great Buzzard flew down and every time he flapped his wings down it
created valley and when it went up it created mountains. Then husbands appeared the first were a pair

Inferential and Descriptive Statistics
Before we continue the discussion about the basic descriptive data elements that are needed to answer
the question I previously posed, it is important to understand what we mean by descriptive statistics.
Descriptive statistics describe the features of the data collected. In other words, descriptive statistics
describe what the data looks like, but it does not tell you why or how data elements interact or
influence one another. Descriptive statistics provide a defender with summaries about the data
collected and these summaries may be either quantitative or visual. Quantitative descriptive statistics
are the sum of data points that are usually reported as total numbers or averages in a report. For
example, defender offices can use descriptive statistics to determine the total of open felony cases per
attorney in one year or say that on average they had x number of open cases in the last two years.
These are considered to be summaries of caseloads that describe the data collected but it does not tell
you if a certain variable (number of cases opened in this example) has an influence (or is correlated)
with the final outcome of a case. When we say that a variable is correlated we mean that the
knowledge of a certain variable (caseload numbers) can allow you to consistently predict the action of
another (final dispositional outcomes). For example, if you mix two hydrogen and one oxygen (H20),
you get water. We know that every time you have the interaction of these

Censorship In Young Adult Literature
While reading the assigned chapters of the textbook I found many points interesting and informative.
The first portion that caught my attention involved how to incorporate both young adult literature and
the classics into a curriculum. A very interesting metaphor was used to describe why adolescents
shouldn t read the classics. I was really able to relate to the idea of how well written young adult
literature can encourage students to read and can possibly lead to reading the classics. I think that it is
a great idea to pair a young adult book with a classic in order to engage reading as well as help address
certain points of the classic. This idea plays well with how to encourage reluctant readers to want to
read, which is the next point I will discuss. A reluctant reader is something that most teachers will
have to deal with at some point in their career. It can be very difficult for some students to get into the
habit of reading for pleasure, it is also common for avid readers to be in a stage where they just do not
want to read. This is a situation that I can relate to very strongly seeing as I love to read but sometimes
find myself in a reading slump, where I struggle to motivate myself ... Show more content on

Personally, I had never heard the term censorship used in relation to literature, and that made this
section all the more interesting to me. Censorship is used to describe when individuals, such as
librarians or teachers, find certain ideas and information dangerous or objectionable to readers. People
examine books, films, dramas, and television to determine and suppress information they find
offensive. These ideas are practiced by teachers and librarians when finding books for adolescents to
read. Books that involve offensive language, violence, sexism, or substance abuse are often not
considered to be appropriate for young adults, therefore they are not included in many

A Comparison Of The Tanach And Bible
A Comparison of the Tanach and Bible
Each religion has a sacred text which is used to understand their worldview and their religion better. A
sacred text is what a religion believes is holy and authoritative. Religious texts show its followers
what to do in worship, daily living and conduct. While Christianity and Judaism have numerous
similarities because of the mother daughter link, differences still exist. The sacred text for Judaism is
the Tanach while for Christianity the Bible is used. This essay will explore the structure of each sacred
text, the type of literature is in each canon, authorship of the text and how it is used in daily practice
such as food, interpretation of the commandments and how a Torah is used in a synagogue.
STRUCTURE OF EACH CANON
The Bible is known as authoritative written source (Bowley, 1999) and is a library of 66 books and is
made of two parts: Old Testament (39 books) and New Testament (27 books). The Bible was only
officially put together around the third century. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and
Aramaic while the New Testament was written in Greek. During the Reformation, scholars wanted to
allow everyone to read the Bible in their own languages (Beck et al, 2000). Now, the Bible is written
in over 1600 languages. However, Jewish people only read the Torah in Hebrew. The Old Testament is
similar to the Torah where the books are exactly the same.
The New Testament is made up of the gospels and letters. The word

Essay about What is Wilson s Disease
What is Wilson s diseases? Wilson s disease also known as a term called hepatolenticular is basically a
genetic disorder and causes copper to start accumulate in the liver, brain and other vital organs. This
accumulation then causes various troubles and problems related to the organs. Copper is an essential
metal for our body and it plays a key role in the development of healthy nerves, bones, and collagen.
As we said that Wilson s disease is a genetic disorder which mean it can be pass down from
generations to generations. The main reason for this will be genetic mutation. For example, if you

Therefore it does not clear excess copper from the body, but prevents any accumulation of copper.
Zinc therapy has been shown to be effective, causing fewer side effects than penicillamine or trientine
which are the other common drug use for Wilson s disease diagnosis. Perhaps it was one of the best
options for patients who are diagnosed during early stages of the disease and have no symptoms
shown. Also, a switch to zinc may be an option for people who have been initially treated with
penicillamine or trientine once the initial build up of copper has been cleared from the body. Zinc may
also take with pregnancy.
Zinc acetate s acetate group is capable of binding to metal ions in a variety of ways through its two
oxygen atoms and several connectivity are observed for the various hydrates of zinc acetate, therefore
it can be use much more greatly and usefully as compare to zinc alone as a drug which can cause
possible threat to the blood iron. Zinc acetate is particularly useful salt in lozenges as acetate does not
bind zinc, so that essentially all zinc from the lozenges

Socialism In The Jungle, By Upton Sinclair
Socialism Throughout The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, he portrays that capitalism is the cause of all
evils in society. No matter how hard Jurgis and his family worked and tried, they were still stuck in the
same squalor. Sinclair uses the life of Jurgis s family, an immigrant family, to indicates that capitalism
is bad, unfair, deceitful, untrust, inhuman, and violent. In Sinclair s point of view, socialism is as
remedy for the evils of capitalism. Jurgis s family would have fared better under socialism than under
capitalism. Sinclair portrays his view through the factories conditions and how it only cared about
gaining benefits regardless the workers health and safety, as well as the customers . The work

Liberal Arts Bubble Essay
Martin Luther King Junior said, Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education. Higher
education does not exist for the sole purpose of preparing students for future jobs; it s there in order to
prepare individuals for life where they are expected to participate in their community, their
government, and the lives of those around them. Liberal arts, in particular, exist for the broadening of
students minds in order for them to be successful not only in their chosen career but also in their lives
outside of it. Liberal arts lost their past popularity during the last few decades, but they shouldn t be
disregarded in favor of technical and professional degrees because they still provide students with
skills that are perhaps less tangible, but no less necessary for life in modern world.
First and foremost there needs to be an established understanding of what liberal arts are. In the article
Why Choose Liberal Arts? Mark William Roche explains that liberal arts were originally intended for
free men, those who weren t being educated for the sole purpose of gaining a livelihood, but rather for
the sake of being educated and included things like grammar, rhetoric, arithmetic, music and
astronomy. He then goes on to clarify the meaning of liberal arts today as a general education that is a
broad grounding in the diverse disciplines. Furthermore, in his article, The Liberal Arts Bubble John
Agresto writes that today liberal arts are still called liberal not

Dermatologist take care of people with problems relating to skin. They can prescribe medicine,
perform surgery, and write treatment plans for a patient. Most dermatologist work in a group clinic.
Working in a group clinic is very helpful because they share many of the same patients. It is a lot
easier to communicate information about a patient when most of the doctors work in the same place.
People aspiring to be a dermatologist need to be able to work long hours, be able to handle stress,

A bachelor s degree is the minimum degree a person can have to become a dermatologist. Math,
English, physics, biology, and inorganic and organic chemistry will most likely be required with a

opportunities with an advanced degree. To be a dermatology physician assistant, you need a master s

Causes Of Crime
Causes of Crime
Crime is a part of life that all nationals must manage as it appears to have been around as long as
human progress itself. Crime has violated groups for a considerable length of time and I think one
declaration is that crime is more pervasive in poor inward city neighborhoods than it is in reciprocals
that are more affluent. I think the three noteworthy reasons for crime stem from an absence of training,
living in destitution, and being brought up in a solitary parent home.
Training is a great deal more critical today than it was before. The quality and amount of training a
man gets I accept is a determinate of how a person succeeds in life and what kind of lifestyle they live
before others. I likewise trust that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For me we live in a general public where individuals are judged not by what kind of individual they
are, but rather by what they have. My status in the public eye might be judged by what sort of auto I
drive, what kind of garments I wear, or even by the brand of telephone I have. To get these things to
have the capacity to fit into society a few people may choose not to work hard and save up, their
covetousness overwhelms them and they swing to violations that will make them a lot of cash rapidly.
To wrap things up from my point of view being raised in a single parent home or in a broken family
can affect crime. Young men and women from broken families may have a substantially weaker
feeling of association with their neighborhood and are more probable inclined to misuse their
individuals to fulfill their neglected needs or goals. This thusly can add to loss of a sense of
community and to the breaking down of neighborhoods into social disorder and brutal crime. In the
event that policymakers are to manage the underlying drivers of crime then they likewise need to
manage the fast ascent of illegitimacy. Children that are raised in these kinds of homes may confront
dismissal from other kids, battle in school, and take an interest in gangs. The absence of devotion and
the climate of dismissal or strife inside the family may lessen the child s involvement of his own life
as one of adoration, commitment, and a place to feel wanted. Rather, it might be

The Current Status of 3g and the Future of 4g Essay
The Current Status of 3G and the Future of 4G 3G and 4G are two mobile communications standards
that are currently in use. 3G is the third generation of the standard and 4G is the fourth and most
recent generation. Each successive generation usually brings new base technologies, more network
capacity for more data per user, and the potential for better voice quality. 3G became available in the
United States in 2002 and 4G became available in 2009 (O Malley). Although it is a previous
generation of communications standards, 3G is still in use world wide and will probably remain so for
a few more years. 4G is still relatively new and has somewhat limited coverage, but it is only going to
expand and get better.
Brief History ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are over 190 3G networks operating in over 40 countries worldwide (3G vs 4G). 4G s coverage
pales in comparison to the massive 3G network. The only 4G coverage available at the present time is
in the vicinity of large metropolitan areas. 3G s data transfer speeds have a minimum data rate of 2
Mbit/s for stationary or walking users, and 384 kbit/s in a moving vehicle (About Mobile
Technology). 4G on the other hand can be up to 10 times faster, but speeds like this are only capable
in certain areas where the network is capable of supporting such speeds. 3G remains relevant due to its
wide coverage when compared with 4G and its consistent and still relatively high data transfer speeds.
But as the 4G network grows, the future of 3G isn t very promising. It is only a matter of time before
4G takes over completely.

2009. As opposed to earlier generations, a 4G system does not support traditional circuit switched
telephony service, but uses all Internet Protocol (IP) based communication exclusively (3G vs 4G). 4G
system provides mobile ultra broadband internet access to laptops with

Taxes on the Fair Market Value on Mobile Homes versus Permanent Homes Taxes have been a hot

taxes affect the fair market value of mobile homes versus permanent homes. Is there a difference
between taxes on mobile homes and permanent homes? Let s find out. Let s begin with what fair

What Dreams May Come Vincent Ward s What Dreams May Come breathed brilliant life into the

Risk Factor For Global Disease Burden
Essential or primary hypertension, the world s leading risk factor for global disease burden, is
expected to cause more than half of the estimated 17 million deaths per year resulting from
cardiovascular disease (CVD) worldwide.1 Defined as an elevation of blood pressure (BP) beyond
140/90 mm Hg, hypertension is strongly correlated with adverse outcomes such as stroke, ischemic
heart disease, heart failure, and end stage renal disease. The challenges of managing hypertension and
preventing the development of these latter outcomes are unlikely to relent; the global burden of
hypertension is projected to increase by 60% to affect approximately 1.6 billion adults worldwide by

These patients with resistant hypertension carry substantial risk of adverse events.5 The emergence of
renal artery de innervation may herald a novel and effective procedural option to treat these patients.6
The challenges highlighted are pertinent to many populations. Many low and middle income
countries, most of which are in the midst of the epidemiological transition, face rapidly increasing
prevalence of hypertension in the context of limited healthcare resources. In these countries, diagnosis
and appropriate management of hypertension remains disconcertingly low.7 Developing innovative
and cost effective solutions to improve hypertension diagnosis and control thus remains a key
priority.8 These issues are not limited to developing countries alone; less than 50% of the US patients
have appropriate BP control9 despite good access to care, a wealth of evidence surrounding lifestyle
modification, and the presence of highly efficacious anti hypertensive therapies. Indeed, such
persistent deficiencies have fueled national initiatives such as the HealthyPeople 2020 and the Million

How Does Love Effect Biological Drugs
Many people state love is a drug. It has been proven that stages in love effect biological components.
An example of this is would include stages like falling in love with a surge of dopamine, or cuddling
concludes in serotonin levels being high. Cocaine blocks the reuptake of serotonin, dopamine, and
norepinephrine increasing their consecration in the synapses which amplifies the chemical reactions.
In MRI studies, it has been seen that the same pathways are being lit for love and cocaine use. Both
love and cocaine effect the reward pathway. Although both reach all areas of the brain the euphoric
effects are mediated to a few specific areas such as the prefrontal cortex, nucleus accumbens, and the
ventral tegmental area (VTA) (NIH, 2016).

Group Work
We ve all been there where you were assigned different members to work with that do not cooperate
or work hard enough. People around us believe that group projects are fun and can be exciting to work
with others, but this is not the case. I am strongly against group work, from the different opinions, to
the time management, and the slackers who do not do any of the work but still get credit. The different
personalities and opinions of the group members creates many complications during the process of
getting the work finished. Firstly, there are the different viewpoints in the group that make it hard to

Slackers are the people in the group who lack the effort to do anything in the group. These people will
just run around the room, acting like animals, and will not try to get any work done, thinking that you
will do it for them. These individuals will mess with your plans in anyway possible, whether it be the
construction of the project, or the pieces of the project you assign to each member. These people will
give you lousy excuses for not finishing their part of the project, and make the rest of the group
agitated. They will also ruin your grade on this project. Unless you want to stay up all night to do their
work to salvage you and your teammates grades, you will not be getting a good grade if you are
missing things that the slacker decided they did not need to do. Even if you have people who are
frustrating, there are the people who will work with you and want a good grade as badly as you do.
These people will work with you to try to finish the project and cooperate with you. But even if you
have these especially exceptional people, there are still the people who will fight with you with
everything and will not work at all. Group work is the worst part of school, with the people who do
not cooperate and work, the time management, and the different opinions. I believe that you should
tell your teachers that you do not like nor understand the meaning of group work, so that they may

Essay about Socrates Argument with Crito
Socrates Argument with Crito
Socrates has presented a period of questions and answers through dialogue with Crito to examine if he
going into exile will damage his reputation. Socrates questions and answers with Crito establishes that
a person must decide whether the society he or she lives has a just reasoning behind it s own standards
of right and wrong and that a person must have pride in the life that he or she leads. By confirming
these two concepts through questions, Socrates attempted to prove to his companion Crito, that the
choice that he has made is just: I am the kind of man who listens only to the argument that on
reflection seems best to me. I cannot, now that this fate has come upon me, discard the arguments I

By living in Athen for 70 years Socrates has agreed to have faith in the cities virtues and in the force
of decisions that are imposed upon him and as a citizen he respects them. Any person that disobeys
these laws deliberately attempts to destroy these laws and the society that has created them: However,
that whoever of you remains when he sees how we conduct our trials and manage the city in other
ways, has in fact come to an agreement with us to obey our instructions. (51e). If the decisions of the
city are not respected as honourable, the structure of that civilization will fall to pieces. If a person is
found violating the standards of his or her society and does not accept the consequences of his or her
actions there can t be a system of law that construct order. You must either persuade it or obey its
orders, and endure in silence whatever it instructs you to endure, whether blows or bonds, and if it
leads you into war or be wounded or killed you must obey. (51b)
Socrates adjusts these theories to the option to escape from his captors and abandon their conclusion
on his future. Crito begins to understand Socrates view in his suggestion. the only valid consideration
is whether we should be acting rightly in giving with the escape, or whether in truth we shall do wrong
in doing all this. (49c) Socrates concludes that if he followed Crito s advice he would be committing

Jason And Medea
Ancient Greek society highly valued the idea of its citizens meeting the expectations of their social
and moral responsibility, or else they were considered criminal, specifically, if they murdered, stole
broke their oaths or offended the gods. Euripides however, in his Tragedy Medea, through the
unlawful rationalisation of Jason and Medea, challenges the notion of a criminal and the commonly
held value of sophrosyne that is meeting ones social and moral responsibilities. Jason breaks his oaths
and leaves Medea for fortune and prestige, while Medea sets on the quest to exact her retribution on
Jason. Ultimately, however, Medea is Euripides iconoclastic attack on the Greek social system,
suggesting to the audience that maybe the real criminal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Euripides play is an exploration, if not an argument, of sexual equality. Jason and Creon find Medea
frightening and dangerous, not because she is a sorceress , but because she is a woman . In spite of all
this, Medea makes decisions contrary to the nature of the typical Greek woman, when she opts to have
her vengeance on those who wronged her. However, Euripides in leaving Medea unharmed and
unpunished, is not only revolutionary but also controversial, given the patriarchal society that was
Ancient Greek society. Euripides uses the Corinthian women as the chorus to help the male audience
reflect on their own unlawful and misogynistic attitude to life. Accordingly, in using Medea as his
Byronic heroin, Euripides attacks the notion of women as the subdued other . Although Euripides
contemporaries used tragedy as a cathartic device, Euripides used it to expose the hypocritical and
corrupt nature of the Greek society that forcefully created wicked monsters like Medea. Euripides
Medea acts as a social allegory to not only provide detailed and accurate insight into the hardship of
women, but also force the audience to reflect on its own ignorance that blindsides them from seeing
the flaws of their own society. Thus, while presenting the imperfections of Jason and Medea,
Euripides does not present them as the only criminals, revealing that the real criminal is the
dysfunctional androcentric society that was ancient

The myth of Medusa is one of the most told myths throughout history. It seems like a simple idea of
how society perceives ugliness. The myth may be saying that truly hideous people deserved the
monstrous things that are coming to them, yet there is more to the story and image of this woman.
People have to look into what happened to her that society perceives her as hideous.Society has to
think about whose fault was it for her becoming a monster. People should look into the true meaning
of Medusa. Medusa has a strong impact on Greek society mythology too? with her features, the colors

There are some images that one can use to show Medusa, so it depends on what one wants to talk
about. The image I picked is of Medusa s head cut off on a shield (Gill, N.S.). The problem here is that
Medusa does not look that ugly. In most pictures, Medusa just looks like a beautiful woman who has
snake for her hair. It seems strange that society and history remember her as ugly. One reason is
because of the snakes in her hair. Images show that her hair is full of many snakes. On her head, is
looks to be multiple kinds of snake. Some snakes look to be dice snakes, Natrix Tessellate, which are
venomous snakes found in Europe (McLaren, John). People hate snakes and fear them. In many
cultures such as Christianity, snakes are evil. Satan took the form of one in the Garden of Eve to
seduce Adam and Eve to commit sin. It works and mankind is driven out of the Garden forever ( Are
snakes evil? Does the Bible say anything about snakes? ). The image of a snake makes many shiver in
fear of it. Most of the Greek myths show snakes in a distrustful manner. Most of Ancient Greek
believed that snakes were liars and intelligent, but not to trust them.
Medusa is an important goddess used a lot in Greek female myths. In Greek myths, her hair which is
of snakes can show the symbolism of snakes. Snakes were said to have shown the natural cycle of
birth, death, and rebirth. In Greek myths the shedding of their skins and by getting new skin it shows

Porphyria s Lover Essay
Captured Moments in the Victorian Age While much of the Victorian Era centers around the rigid
constructs of society, some authors and artists pull away from the strict rules and realism. Claude
Monet, the French painter was a major contributor to the Impressionist Movement and his 1873
Impression, Sunrise is an oil painting on canvas that depicts a gloomy dawn over a harbor in the new
style. The British poet, Robert Browning is known for his dramatic monologues, one of which is
Porphyria s Lover , written in 1834. The poetic style allows for the character to speak straight to the
audience. Both forms of art deviate from traditional Victorian values, capturing feelings and

Monet s technique was a method of painting which didn t find favor with the establishment, though,
who considered it primitive and vulgar ( Monet: The Impressionists ). His reaction to being rejected
by salons was to form a company of artists that created their own exhibition. It was at their first
exhibition that Impression, Sunrise was shown and the term Impressionism would be coined. As the
originally contemptuous name suggests, it was as much Monet s title as his picture that antagonised
the public and the press (Wilmer). In an era that valued solid truth, Impressionism was a rebellion.
Browning was similarly rejected. His readers declared it was, impossible to make sense of his poetry,
they said, he must have gone mad, he was unreadable (Everett). The Victorian writers are known for
presenting a clear moral or message in each work; a piece must have purpose. However, in Browning
s work, the readers are required to evaluate and infer a meaning for themselves. Any sane reader can
determine that the closing lines of the Porphyria s Lover : And thus we sit together now,/And all night
long we have not stirred,/And yet God has not said a word (Browning lines 58 60) do not reflect a
moral that society should follow. There is no voice of the poet for the reader to turn to for an

influenced the society in many ways. He is referred to as one of the founding fathers of modern
sociology. He has given many ground breaking theories like theory of bureaucracy and theory of
social class. His theories are important because he helped us to understand the nature of society. He
disagreed with the Marxian understanding of class and Auguste Comte s theory of positivism.

This authority rests on the appeal of the leader. At the same time this form of authority has its own
drawbacks. It is unstable and it deteriorates if the leader is unable to bring about the changes he

McCoy, the CEO of Bank One was a very charismatic leader. He brought about a huge change in the

An Ice Calorimeter Determination of Reaction Enthalpy
Thermochemistry: An Ice Calorimeter Determination of Reaction
Enthalpy
D. F. Nachman
6/23/2010
Abstract: An ice calorimeter was used to study the reaction of magnesium metal and 1.00M sulfuric
acid solution: Mg(s) + H2SO4(aq) →MgSO4(aq) + H2(g). We found the experimental molar
enthalpy of reaction to be ΔH = 355 ± 17 kJ/mol at 0°C, 24% lower than the textbook value of ΔH° =
466.9 kJ/mol, reported at 25°C.
Introduction
Whether a chemical reaction occurs spontaneously or is driven by an outside force, it almost always
exchanges energy with the surroundings. Energy exchange can occur as work or as heat flow. When a
reaction occurs under constant pressure conditions, we call the heat portion of the energy exchanged
the enthalpy change of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calculations
The reaction between magnesium metal and sulfuric acid released heat, which melted some of the ice
in the calorimeter. Because ice takes up more volume per gram than liquid water, this melting
produced a drop in pipette readings. For each gram of ice that melted, the volume change was
calculated from the density values of water and ice at 0 °C: dice 0.9157 g
1 mL
, so the specific volume of ice =
1 mL
0.9157 g
1.0920 mL ice
1 g H2O dliquid 0.9998 g
1 mL
, so the specific volume of liquid =
1 mL
0.9998 g
1.0002 mL
1 g
The difference between the two specific volume values gives the volume change per gram of melting
ice: 0.0918 mL/g.
The estimated total volume change is shown in Figure 1. Because the slope of the data trend after the
reaction did not match the slope of the data trend before the reaction, using the equations of the trend
lines gave a range of ΔV values:
ΔVmin = 0.8989 0.5914+[630*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[630*0.00025]=0.465 mL
ΔVavg = 0.8989 0.5914+[720*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[720*0.00025]=0.488 mL
ΔVmax = 0.8989 0.5914+[810*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[810*0.00025]=0.510 mL
These volume changes correspond to the following masses of ice melt:
0.465 mL melt 1 g ice
0.0918 mL melt
= 5.07 g ice minimum
0.488 mL melt 1 g ice

When film spread across the country in the early 1900 s so did romanticized pictures of the west.
Western films portrayed the conquest of the frontier in the name of civilization. In these films, the plot
was almost always about good versus bad. The films usually showed the cowboy riding into a lawless
town and restoring order. Typical elements of western films included breathtaking settings and open
landscapes. In all the western films, the cowboys wore the same wardrobe, blue jeans and boots.
Americans living in the East became enamored with the West. Easterners began traveling west to
places like dude ranches to experience the spirit of the Wild West. Of course, the experience was not
complete with out the costume. Thus, blue jeans were purchased for the first time by non westerners.
Blue jeans were no longer just for the hard working miners. People from the East bought them for
trips to the West. They brought them back East with them. In the East, blue jeans were not worn often
by all. Schoolchildren, boys in particular were often the only ones wearing them. Parents, especially
those of limited means, bought jeans for their children because of their durability. During the 1930 s
blue jeans were found all throughout schools. Children grew up wearing blue jeans. Jeans had become
a common article of clothing for a new generation. Blue jeans sales rose at a steady pace after the
Great Depression.

Modern Europe is a peaceful co existence of sovereign countries, of which most of them are part of
the European Union. Until this stage many centuries of state and nation formation have passed. Those
centuries were shaped by fragmentation in the form of republics and foreign intervention. In all of
these aspects the Habsburg Monarchy played a crucial role. To understand the particular process of
state and nation building throughout the history of Europe, more specifically, in the Habsburg Empire
the terms nation and state in the modern notion have to be defined.

Lars Eighners essay On Dumpster Diving describes the lifestyle of living out of a dumpster. Lars
demonstrates that anyone can achieve a fulfilling life without the constraints of society and material
wealth. He finds nearly everything he needs and sometimes more just from the refuse of others.
Firstly, what is dumpster diving? Dumpster diving is the practice of sifting through commercial or

He also goes on in paragraph 39 to talk about drugs and medicine and how he often has to hoard the

talked on how he often finds books, diaries and papers discarded by college students. He remarks that
he is horrified to discover the kinds of papers that merit and A, which means he must have had
experience with the grading system. However he adds that he is grateful for the number of good books
and magazines they toss out, this shows his appreciation for good literature and speaks to his educated

Eighner showed his intelligence throughout the essay, from the words he used, to his in depth
knowledge on various foods and how to know if they are safe to eat or not. Eighner talked about how
he frequented neighborhoods associated with the wealthy (Paragraph 21) because the rich are more
wasteful and tend to throw out items with no real issues. His decision to scavenge in the more
prosperous neighborhoods struck me as one of an intelligent individual.
Discipline is another characteristic of Eighner that I would not have assumed any dumpster diver

Emotions In The Novel The Mark Of The Dragonfly
In the novel The Mark of the Dragonfly, the main character Piper had many different emotions
throughout the book. Sometimes Piper has more positive and joyful emotions, while on the other hand
she might have negative and not so jolly emotions. Piper s emotions change over the course of the
novel and are different from the beginning of the novel towards the ending of the novel. In page 24 in
the book it states, A cold knot of dread settled in Piper s stomach. Isn t he with you? That sentence
would show Piper feeling fear or dread , when she realized that Micah was missing. This is giving me
the idea that the emotion that Piper is feeling, is going to change the way the author writes the book,
like when the author used a cold knot of dread. That would show, since Piper is feeling fear, the author
includes more descriptive language that in other parts of the novel. Another emotion change Piper had

abortion process. A mother can see the image of her unborn child; abortion should be illegal because
the unborn child feels pain, there can be medical complications to the mother and alternatives do exist.
Women are now able to see inside of the mother s womb and see the unborn child s heartbeat and sex
of the child. This is done by ultra sound (US) technology and can be seen in 2 D, 3 D and 4 D it is
even possible to see the child in color. The mother can see the living child inside her. The ultra sound
serves as a window to the womb (Boucher 2004). Pro life supporters have showmen the US picture
and movies of the unborn child to women who are planning to abort their pregnancy and stated that
90% of women have changed their minds. First trimester abortions account for 88.4% of the USA and
73% in Canada. However, the US that is being shown is in the second trimester (Wiebe, Adams 2009)
to be able to see the growth of the unborn child.
Many states now require that a woman who is going to have an abortion view an US prior to the
abortion. In a survey that was conducted many women felt that viewing the US was a positive
experience even though some still chose to go through with an abortion. Patients have stated that
seeing the US was helpful, but the US images needed

Germany s Mobilization For World War I
On August 14, 1914, the German Reichstag commenced to make known that the German civilians
should unite and defend their own country. They announced a civil peace which meant that all
previous conflicts or issues would be set aside for the duration of war. They also began the
mobilization for World War I. When the emperor first declared the policy in 1914, the people were
joyful and in awe. By 1915 and 1916, the people s views shifted from being optimistic to opposing
war because war caused them to overwork and was the source for the food shortages; the government
lost many of their supporters as a result. To end, in 1918, civilians from both sides who was either
opposing war or supporting it affected the German population because of their different opinions
which led to the defeat of Germany in World War I.
Most people in Germany supported the emperor s idea of civil peace . The other people who disagreed
were forced to agree whether they like the idea or not. In August 1, 1914, German Emperor Wilhelm II
gave a speech at the royal palace in Berlin filled with a crowd of 40,000 people. Wilhelm II desired to
unite the country by telling his people that all that matters now is that we Germans stand together like
brothers (Doc 1). The speech that he conveyed rallied up the Germans to hope for the unification of
their country by standing up together as brothers to help unite Germany. Wilhelm II s view of a civil
peace was supported by an abundant amount of civilians.

Research Paper On Time Of The Chinese Culture
Time of the Chinese Culture
The Chinese culture is very past oriented with some aspects of present oriented as well. The Chinese
culture values their past, it is reflected in all aspects of life, such as much of the city s ancient
buildings and respect for old men (Shi 2011). The dying patient of Chinese descent will spend a lot of
time reminiscing on past mistakes, honor, and dead loved ones. This is also a time where they will feel
a sense of being reunited with their past ancestors as well accepting their fate
The Chinese culture also regards the present moment, especially being on time, as important. Being on
time is important informal occasion, but if you can, the earlier the better, it is viewed as a kind of
respect (Shi 2011). Being late and inadequate time management is a form of disrespect amongst the
Chinese culture.
Social organization of the Chinese Culture
Chinese patients will typically have family members at the bedside, day and night, taking care of
them. The custom in both China and Japan is for the family to take care of the patient s personal needs
and the medical staff is there to practice medicine (Galanti, 2008). When a member of a Chinese
family becomes ill, the family will rally around the patient to ensure they re being cared for and loved.
The family system in the Chinese culture is seen as one big moving part, where no individual is
greater or more important than the other.

Compare And Contrast The Kite Runner Insecurities
Throughout our lives we all experience things that may make us feel uncomfortable or make us feel
insecure, some people experience these more than others. By being put into situations like these
people s insecurities are shown. Here we will be looking at two characters from two different stories.
The first character is Amir, he starts off as a young boy growing up wishing to please his father and
make him proud of him for the work that he wants to do and we follow him as he grows throughout
his journey. The second character is Lucy, she is an 18 year old single mom living on her own with her
8 month old son. In this essay we will look at common experiences that point out these two characters
insecurities and how they either developed or were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example in text of Lucy feeling disgraceful is in this next quote where she talks directly to the
reader. I should tell you right now how I got to where I am: single mother on the door, public housing,
all that. It wasn t a goal of mine, certainly. Pg15 As Lucy tells the story of her having a child she talks
about how embarrassing and painful it is to be in her situation. She speaks of how she never dreamed
for this and that she had other plans but in the end she has failed herself. Later in the story Lucy has to
go to a dole appointment. While she is there she talks about how the workers there recognize that she
is of lower class and it disgusts the worker at the desk. With the puke now on his pants and one boot
missing he looked horrible, and I think seeing him depressed the dole staff. Anyway, they got me in
and out of there pretty quickly. Pg 50 At the end of this quote she says that they got her in and out
really quick, thinking that the staff wanted her out as fast as they could so they didn t have to deal with
her because they didn t want her there because her lower class, grossed them out making her feel like
a stain on society. Seeing this Lucy takes into account that just because she s a single mom people
start thinking of her differently adding onto her insecurities. Amir also faces the feelings of disgrace,

What Is The Tone Of The Road Not Taken
The Road Not Taken , by Robert Frost is a poem about a travelling individual who s come upon two
different paths leading to the same destination. He chooses one, but tells himself that if given the
option again he ll take the other path even though he knows it ll never happen. This poem in a way
talks about life and the choices we make.
This has got to be among the best known, most often misunderstood verse forms on the planet. Several
generations of careless readers have turned it into a piece of Assay mark happy graduation son, seize
the futurity puffery . Cursed with a perfective marriage of form and content, it seems as if The Route
Not Taken gets memorized without really being read. For this it has died the cliché s un destruction ...

He knows that he will be inaccurate, at best, or hypocritical, at worst , when he clench his living up as
an example. In fact, he predicts that his future self will betray this moment of determination as if the
betrayal were inevitable. This actualization is ironic and sincerely pathetic. But the sigh is critical. The
speaker will not, in his old age, merely muster up the youth about himself and say, Do what I did,
kiddy . I stuck to my gunman , took the road less traveled by, and that has shuffle all the difference.
Rather, he may say this, but he will sigh first; for he might not believe it himself. Somewhere in the
back of his idea will remain the effigy of yellow Sir Henry Wood and two equally leafy tracks. Ironic
as it is, this is also a poem infused with the expectation of remorse. Its statute title is not The Route
Less Traveled but The Road Not Taken. Even as he brand a pick the speaker knows that he will second
guess himself somewhere down the line, or at the very least he will wonder at what is irrevocably lost:
the impossible , unknowable Other Path. But the nature of the decision is such that there is no Right
Path, just the chosen path and the other path. What are sighed for ages and ages

Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay
First: Equity
Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity.
Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not.
Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock
can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends
and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of
liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt
Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond.
A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain
amount, with interest, to the bondholder.
# Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital)
stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a
creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a
defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding
indefinitely

Essay On Caliticia Science Center
On Friday, May 26th, I went and visited the California Science Center. The California Science Center
has a lot of exhibits regarding biology such as the rot room, ecosystems and kelp center. The
admission to the California Science Center itself is free and requires no ticket with the exception of
special exhibits. When I visited the center on friday, I visited the whole center, with the exception of
the new exhibit called the Body World: Pulse. During my visited I learned the difference between the
Arctic and Antarctica and how both are typically confused because they are both cold, windy and dry.
However, the Arctic is ocean surrounded by land and Antarctic is land surrounded by ocean. Besides,
geographical differences, population is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was strange experience touching animals that were alive, they almost seemed fake. In elementary
school, I remember doing this same activity. In this exhibit I learned that animals have a tear shaped
body to reduce resistance to ocean movement. The Center also has a small exhibit that talks about the
deep ocean. The deep ocean, a common mystery, had very little exhibit information besides interesting
samples of animals that live in the deep ocean. The samples were very small and colorless. In fact, the
exhibit mentioned that these creatures lived under very high pressure and darkness. There were
various samples that demonstrated the great amount of pressure the deep ocean has. Several students
dropped styrofoam cups and heads to the ocean and were received fully crushed and in miniature
form. However, what I found most interesting was the fact that as pressure increases, buoyancy
decreases. This was exhibited through an activity they had which had a balloon in a water tank and as
you manually increased the pressure up to 20 psi, the balloon sinked to the bottom of the tank. What I
found the most interesting was a small part of the kelp center that had a breeding tank of Brine shrimp.
The shrimp were tiny specks and under a microscope were tiny, clear objects that floated. The center
had two sets of funnels side by side, one for adult shrimp and one for hatching shrimp. They both were
simultaneously working

Spies Of The American Revolution
Ceci Carmichael Mr. Lewis A.P. US History Period 4 11/19/14 Spies of the American Revolution The
American Revolution and the Revolutionary War was the starting point of America s journey to
become an independent country. The revolution was an aggressive movement to finally be free of
Britain once and for all. There were a lot of components in a victory for the Americans: help from
foreign countries, strong unity, home field advantage, and spies. Yes, spies. The spies who were in the
American Revolution played a crucial role in many aspects of the war, including discovering acts of
treason, learning British battle plans, and discovering locations of different individuals and groups of
the enemy. Throughout the entire war, there were many individuals and groups that sent information
all around, mostly in the New York and New Jersey area. Perhaps the most well known spy is Nathan
Hale. After graduating from Yale at age 18, Nathan was given the rank of 1st Lieutenant when he
joined the Continental army. A few months later, he was promoted to captain and was given a
command of Rangers to secure New York City. On September 6, 1776, Hale enlisted to become a spy.
Hale is not remembered for being a spy, though. He imitated a school teacher, his previous job before
the war. Hale s mission was to collect intelligence behind enemy lines before the Battle of Harlem
Heights. He slipped behind enemy lines on Long Island and successfully gathered information about
British troop battle

  • 2. Selective Reasoning Marketing Simulation Analysis When the simulation was first assigned, I really had no idea what to expect. I assumed that my group members and I would be creating various written documents, which was clearly not the case. After selecting a group composed mainly of my close friends, we began to read through the various materials given to us to help us successfully complete the simulation. After watching a few of the videos from our customers and reading the given document about Minnesota Mircromotors, we began the simulation. Before the simulation started our group decided that we wanted to put customer satisfaction as our top priority, over market share and profit. After our first quarter, we began to panic because every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From then on out I left market research at the required $50,000 just to stay safe. One of the most important parts of the game I found was spending on IMC. After the first quarter as a group, when we did very poorly, we found that putting money into IMC was the best way to increase our profit and market share. What I found that worked best regarding IMC, was to basically put all additional budget into it. Almost every quarter I did this, my profits would continue to rise. When I did the simulation individually, every time I gained more money in my total budget that money would address IMC first. IMC was definitely the key to the game for me. The single most argued part of the simulation for our group was the distribution of money in Power To Size Ratio, Manufacturing, and Thermal Resistance. At first it seemed that no matter what we did as a group some customer would complain about something. No customer complained more than Customer B complaining about wanting more thermal. Our group found ourselves always arguing over how much money to put into which of the three categories. We never really did a great job doing so because there was always an unhappy customer. Gender Roles In Creation Myths Bhaumik Patel Mythology Mr. Hall 7 November, 16 Gender Roles in Creation Myths from Around the World Different cultures and societies have their story of how the world began. These stories vary in the process, but they all share one common theme. All of the stories begin with nothing or chaos, that is until one being creates light, time, earth and its occupants. One common thing all myths share is the role and status of women and men. In the Greek myth women were less dominant, Hindu myth women are not even mentioned, and in Cherokee myth women are shown to be inferior. Greek creation myth highlights how men and women differ in their status and roles. Women were the inferior sex when compared to men, they were seen as intellects, and child ... • 4. Inferential and Descriptive Statistics Before we continue the discussion about the basic descriptive data elements that are needed to answer the question I previously posed, it is important to understand what we mean by descriptive statistics. Descriptive statistics describe the features of the data collected. In other words, descriptive statistics describe what the data looks like, but it does not tell you why or how data elements interact or influence one another. Descriptive statistics provide a defender with summaries about the data collected and these summaries may be either quantitative or visual. Quantitative descriptive statistics are the sum of data points that are usually reported as total numbers or averages in a report. For example, defender offices can use descriptive statistics to determine the total of open felony cases per attorney in one year or say that on average they had x number of open cases in the last two years. These are considered to be summaries of caseloads that describe the data collected but it does not tell you if a certain variable (number of cases opened in this example) has an influence (or is correlated) with the final outcome of a case. When we say that a variable is correlated we mean that the knowledge of a certain variable (caseload numbers) can allow you to consistently predict the action of another (final dispositional outcomes). For example, if you mix two hydrogen and one oxygen (H20), you get water. We know that every time you have the interaction of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Censorship In Young Adult Literature While reading the assigned chapters of the textbook I found many points interesting and informative. The first portion that caught my attention involved how to incorporate both young adult literature and the classics into a curriculum. A very interesting metaphor was used to describe why adolescents shouldn t read the classics. I was really able to relate to the idea of how well written young adult literature can encourage students to read and can possibly lead to reading the classics. I think that it is a great idea to pair a young adult book with a classic in order to engage reading as well as help address certain points of the classic. This idea plays well with how to encourage reluctant readers to want to read, which is the next point I will discuss. A reluctant reader is something that most teachers will have to deal with at some point in their career. It can be very difficult for some students to get into the habit of reading for pleasure, it is also common for avid readers to be in a stage where they just do not want to read. People examine books, films, dramas, and television to determine and suppress information they find offensive. These ideas are practiced by teachers and librarians when finding books for adolescents to read. A sacred text is what a religion believes is holy and authoritative. Religious texts show its followers what to do in worship, daily living and conduct. While Christianity and Judaism have numerous similarities because of the mother daughter link, differences still exist. The sacred text for Judaism is the Tanach while for Christianity the Bible is used. This essay will explore the structure of each sacred text, the type of literature is in each canon, authorship of the text and how it is used in daily practice such as food, interpretation of the commandments and how a Torah is used in a synagogue. STRUCTURE OF EACH CANON The Bible is known as authoritative written source (Bowley, 1999) and is a library of 66 books and is made of two parts: Old Testament (39 books) and New Testament (27 books). The Bible was only officially put together around the third century. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic while the New Testament was written in Greek. During the Reformation, scholars wanted to allow everyone to read the Bible in their own languages (Beck et al, 2000). Now, the Bible is written in over 1600 languages. However, Jewish people only read the Torah in Hebrew. The Old Testament is similar to the Torah where the books are exactly the same. The New Testament is made up of the gospels and letters. Higher education does not exist for the sole purpose of preparing students for future jobs; it s there in order to prepare individuals for life where they are expected to participate in their community, their government, and the lives of those around them. Liberal arts, in particular, exist for the broadening of students minds in order for them to be successful not only in their chosen career but also in their lives outside of it. Liberal arts lost their past popularity during the last few decades, but they shouldn t be disregarded in favor of technical and professional degrees because they still provide students with skills that are perhaps less tangible, but no less necessary for life in modern world. First and foremost there needs to be an established understanding of what liberal arts are. In the article Why Choose Liberal Arts? Mark William Roche explains that liberal arts were originally intended for free men, those who weren t being educated for the sole purpose of gaining a livelihood, but rather for the sake of being educated and included things like grammar, rhetoric, arithmetic, music and astronomy. The different personalities and opinions of the group members creates many complications during the process of getting the work finished. Slackers are the people in the group who lack the effort to do anything in the group. These people will just run around the room, acting like animals, and will not try to get any work done, thinking that you will do it for them. These individuals will mess with your plans in anyway possible, whether it be the construction of the project, or the pieces of the project you assign to each member. These people will give you lousy excuses for not finishing their part of the project, and make the rest of the group agitated. They will also ruin your grade on this project. Unless you want to stay up all night to do their work to salvage you and your teammates grades, you will not be getting a good grade if you are missing things that the slacker decided they did not need to do. Even if you have people who are frustrating, there are the people who will work with you and want a good grade as badly as you do. These people will work with you to try to finish the project and cooperate with you. But even if you have these especially exceptional people, there are still the people who will fight with you with everything and will not work at all. Group work is the worst part of school, with the people who do not cooperate and work, the time management, and the different opinions. Socrates questions and answers with Crito establishes that a person must decide whether the society he or she lives has a just reasoning behind it s own standards of right and wrong and that a person must have pride in the life that he or she leads. By confirming these two concepts through questions, Socrates attempted to prove to his companion Crito, that the choice that he has made is just: I am the kind of man who listens only to the argument that on reflection seems best to me. Jason And Medea Ancient Greek society highly valued the idea of its citizens meeting the expectations of their social and moral responsibility, or else they were considered criminal, specifically, if they murdered, stole broke their oaths or offended the gods. Euripides however, in his Tragedy Medea, through the unlawful rationalisation of Jason and Medea, challenges the notion of a criminal and the commonly held value of sophrosyne that is meeting ones social and moral responsibilities. Euripides play is an exploration, if not an argument, of sexual equality. Jason and Creon find Medea frightening and dangerous, not because she is a sorceress , but because she is a woman . In spite of all this, Medea makes decisions contrary to the nature of the typical Greek woman, when she opts to have her vengeance on those who wronged her. However, Euripides in leaving Medea unharmed and unpunished, is not only revolutionary but also controversial, given the patriarchal society that was Ancient Greek society. Euripides uses the Corinthian women as the chorus to help the male audience reflect on their own unlawful and misogynistic attitude to life. Accordingly, in using Medea as his Byronic heroin, Euripides attacks the notion of women as the subdued other . Although Euripides contemporaries used tragedy as a cathartic device, Euripides used it to expose the hypocritical and corrupt nature of the Greek society that forcefully created wicked monsters like Medea. Euripides Medea acts as a social allegory to not only provide detailed and accurate insight into the hardship of women, but also force the audience to reflect on its own ignorance that blindsides them from seeing the flaws of their own society. Thus, while presenting the imperfections of Jason and Medea, Euripides does not present them as the only criminals, revealing that the real criminal is the dysfunctional androcentric society that was ancient ... In most pictures, Medusa just looks like a beautiful woman who has snake for her hair. It seems strange that society and history remember her as ugly. One reason is because of the snakes in her hair. Images show that her hair is full of many snakes. On her head, is looks to be multiple kinds of snake. Some snakes look to be dice snakes, Natrix Tessellate, which are venomous snakes found in Europe (McLaren, John). People hate snakes and fear them. In many cultures such as Christianity, snakes are evil. Satan took the form of one in the Garden of Eve to seduce Adam and Eve to commit sin. It works and mankind is driven out of the Garden forever ( Are snakes evil? Does the Bible say anything about snakes? ). The image of a snake makes many shiver in fear of it. Most of the Greek myths show snakes in a distrustful manner. Most of Ancient Greek believed that snakes were liars and intelligent, but not to trust them. Porphyria s Lover Essay Captured Moments in the Victorian Age While much of the Victorian Era centers around the rigid constructs of society, some authors and artists pull away from the strict rules and realism. We found the experimental molar enthalpy of reaction to be ΔH = 355 ± 17 kJ/mol at 0°C, 24% lower than the textbook value of ΔH° = 466.9 kJ/mol, reported at 25°C. Because ice takes up more volume per gram than liquid water, this melting produced a drop in pipette readings. For each gram of ice that melted, the volume change was calculated from the density values of water and ice at 0 °C: dice 0.9157 g 1 mL , so the specific volume of ice = 1 mL 0.9157 g 1.0920 mL ice 1 g H2O dliquid 0.9998 g 1 mL , so the specific volume of liquid = 1 mL 0.9998 g 1.0002 mL 1 g The difference between the two specific volume values gives the volume change per gram of melting ice: 0.0918 mL/g. The estimated total volume change is shown in Figure 1. Because the slope of the data trend after the reaction did not match the slope of the data trend before the reaction, using the equations of the trend lines gave a range of ΔV values: ΔVmin = 0.8989 0.5914+[630*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[630*0.00025]=0.465 mL ΔVavg = 0.8989 0.5914+[720*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[720*0.00025]=0.488 mL ΔVmax = 0.8989 0.5914+[810*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[810*0.00025]=0.510 mL These volume changes correspond to the following masses of ice melt:

While she is there she talks about how the workers there recognize that she is of lower class and it disgusts the worker at the desk. With the puke now on his pants and one boot missing he looked horrible, and I think seeing him depressed the dole staff. Anyway, they got me in and out of there pretty quickly. Pg 50 At the end of this quote she says that they got her in and out really quick, thinking that the staff wanted her out as fast as they could so they didn t have to deal with her because they didn t want her there because her lower class, grossed them out making her feel like a stain on society. Seeing this Lucy takes into account that just because she s a single mom people start thinking of her differently adding onto her insecurities. Amir also faces the feelings of disgrace, for example in this quote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. What Is The Tone Of The Road Not Taken The Road Not Taken , by Robert Frost is a poem about a travelling individual who s come upon two different paths leading to the same destination. He chooses one, but tells himself that if given the option again he ll take the other path even though he knows it ll never happen. This poem in a way talks about life and the choices we make. This has got to be among the best known, most often misunderstood verse forms on the planet. Several generations of careless readers have turned it into a piece of Assay mark happy graduation son, seize the futurity puffery . Cursed with a perfective marriage of form and content, it seems as if The Route Not Taken gets memorized without really being read. For this it has died the cliché s un destruction ... In fact, he predicts that his future self will betray this moment of determination as if the betrayal were inevitable. This actualization is ironic and sincerely pathetic. But the sigh is critical. The speaker will not, in his old age, merely muster up the youth about himself and say, Do what I did, kiddy . I stuck to my gunman , took the road less traveled by, and that has shuffle all the difference. Rather, he may say this, but he will sigh first; for he might not believe it himself. Somewhere in the back of his idea will remain the effigy of yellow Sir Henry Wood and two equally leafy tracks. Ironic as it is, this is also a poem infused with the expectation of remorse. Its statute title is not The Route Less Traveled but The Road Not Taken. Even as he brand a pick the speaker knows that he will second guess himself somewhere down the line, or at the very least he will wonder at what is irrevocably lost: the impossible , unknowable Other Path. But the nature of the decision is such that there is no Right Path, just the chosen path and the other path. What are sighed for ages and ages ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay First: Equity Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity. Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not. Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond. A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain amount, with interest, to the bondholder. # Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital) stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding indefinitely Source: Boundless. • 45. Essay On Caliticia Science Center On Friday, May 26th, I went and visited the California Science Center. The California Science Center has a lot of exhibits regarding biology such as the rot room, ecosystems and kelp center. The admission to the California Science Center itself is free and requires no ticket with the exception of special exhibits. When I visited the center on friday, I visited the whole center, with the exception of the new exhibit called the Body World: Pulse. During my visited I learned the difference between the Arctic and Antarctica and how both are typically confused because they are both cold, windy and dry. However, the Arctic is ocean surrounded by land and Antarctic is land surrounded by ocean. Besides, geographical differences, population is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was strange experience touching animals that were alive, they almost seemed fake. In elementary school, I remember doing this same activity. In this exhibit I learned that animals have a tear shaped body to reduce resistance to ocean movement. The Center also has a small exhibit that talks about the deep ocean. The deep ocean, a common mystery, had very little exhibit information besides interesting samples of animals that live in the deep ocean. The samples were very small and colorless. In fact, the exhibit mentioned that these creatures lived under very high pressure and darkness. There were various samples that demonstrated the great amount of pressure the deep ocean has. Several students dropped styrofoam cups and heads to the ocean and were received fully crushed and in miniature form. However, what I found most interesting was the fact that as pressure increases, buoyancy decreases. This was exhibited through an activity they had which had a balloon in a water tank and as you manually increased the pressure up to 20 psi, the balloon sinked to the bottom of the tank. What I found the most interesting was a small part of the kelp center that had a breeding tank of Brine shrimp. The shrimp were tiny specks and under a microscope were tiny, clear objects that floated. The center had two sets of funnels side by side, one for adult shrimp and one for hatching shrimp. They both were simultaneously working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Spies Of The American Revolution Ceci Carmichael Mr. Lewis A.P. US History Period 4 11/19/14 Spies of the American Revolution The American Revolution and the Revolutionary War was the starting point of America s journey to become an independent country. The revolution was an aggressive movement to finally be free of Britain once and for all. There were a lot of components in a victory for the Americans: help from foreign countries, strong unity, home field advantage, and spies. Yes, spies. The spies who were in the American Revolution played a crucial role in many aspects of the war, including discovering acts of treason, learning British battle plans, and discovering locations of different individuals and groups of the enemy. Throughout the entire war, there were many individuals and groups that sent information all around, mostly in the New York and New Jersey area. Perhaps the most well known spy is Nathan Hale. After graduating from Yale at age 18, Nathan was given the rank of 1st Lieutenant when he joined the Continental army. A few months later, he was promoted to captain and was given a command of Rangers to secure New York City. On September 6, 1776, Hale enlisted to become a spy. Hale is not remembered for being a spy, though. He imitated a school teacher, his previous job before the war. Hale s mission was to collect intelligence behind enemy lines before the Battle of Harlem Heights. He slipped behind enemy lines on Long Island and successfully gathered information about British troop battle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
