Planaria Regeneration Lab Report
005594572
Dr. Jones Held
This article studies the ability of regeneration possessed by the planaria. Morgan (1898) observes in
different methods how the planaria are cut into smaller pieces, and then he observes the pieces to see
if the planaria will regenerate. When the planaria are cut near the head, the pieces do not appear to
regenerate, and the pieces cut too small also do not possess the ability to regenerate (Morgan, 1898).
Pieces cut from the middle and the end piece of the planaria, however, have shown results of
respawning from within the old tissue. When the author tried to fuse two sampled pieces together, he
observed that the pieces formed a union (Morgan, 1898). However, the fusion did not last long, and
the pieces died long after fusing together (Morgan, 1898). It is likely that the samples were not able to
complete the regeneration after the union emerged. I will be able to use this report for my lab report as
a reference to the process of taking samples from a live planaria, sampled from the likely ... Show

The Goldsmith (1934) study analyzes the separation of multiple samples of DNA from one planaria
and the results of fusing those samples together, including observing the remaining planarian samples
for the regeneration process. The Goldsmith (1934) study also analyzes how certain cells in the
planaria regeneration process have the ability to cause new flesh, in this case the possibility of another
limb or head, to grow during the regeneration of a planaria. I would be able to use this in my lab report
as this article depicts different outcomes from the sampling and transfusions of planaria DNA in
multiple samples. I will be able to use this article in order to serve as a guide for the different fusions
of planaria DNA, in order to gather more data and discover more results about planarian regeneration

The Women of Umuofia in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
The only women respected in Umuofia are those like Chielo, the priestess of the Oracle of the Hills
and Caves, who is removed from the pale of normalcy. Clothed in the mystic mantle of the divinity
she serves, Chielo transforms from the ordinary; she can reprimand Okonkwo and even scream curses
at him: Beware of exchanging words with Agbala [the name of the Oracle of the Hills and Caves].
Does a man speak when a God speaks? Beware! (95). Yet if Okonkwo is powerless before a goddess s
priestess, he can, at least, control his own women. So, when Nwoye s mother asks if Ikemefuna will
be staying long with them, Okonkwo bellows to her: Do what you are told woman. When did you ...

At the end of the novel, Obi Okonkwo yields to the implacable force of traditional ethos when
choosing between his mother (representing traditionalism), who threatens to kill herself if he marries
an outcast or osu, and the outcast protagonist Clara (representing the modern female). The pregnant
Clara gets an abortion and fades out of the story. But at least she is cast as an educated, financially
independent woman. She has the makings of a spirited, independent character, by virtue of her
overseas education and profession as a nurse. She can afford to do without Obi Okonkwo.
In A Man of the People, there are images of women playing traditional roles such as singers and
dancers, or women adoring rich politicians like Chief the Honorable M.A. Nanga. Mrs. Eleanor John,
a tough party woman and board member rich, independent, assertive lamentably is cast as a
semiliterate businesswoman with no noteworthy role. We see Chief Nanga s wife, a beneficiary of the
colonial, utilitarian education, dissatisfied with her husband s extramarital relationship and impending
marriage to the young Edna. Mrs. Nanga complains to Odili, but when the latter sets out to unseat her
husband, she reverts to her traditional role of helpmate fighting to retain her precarious social and
economic position. Consequently, she remains a dependent, peripheral figure, deriving validity as a

Communist Manifesto Essay
The Communist Manifesto was built with intentions to serve as a program meant for the Communist
party during its time of publishing. Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, philosopher and author (titled
respectively), composed the document as a form of instruction for the followers of a new congress,
which is known as The Second Congress . The duo worked tirelessly throughout the final months of
the year 1847 and through January of 1848, only to have a modified adaptation of their original
document published in February of 1848. The Communist Manifesto acted as a symbol of victory for
the newcomers to the Communist party. The authors used the document to clarify the contradictions in
between various social classes and to identify various injustices in between them. To ensure that their
views and opinions of the Communist party were proliferated throughout as much of the continent of
Europe as possible, Marx and Engels requested that editions be published in multiple languages for
multiple understandings. Therefore, after the original German text was created and published, Danish,
Polish, and Swedish translations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These parties included the Radicals and Democratic Socialists. The Communist party strives to aid the
working class in the overtaking of the Bourgeoisie party. The author also makes note of other
revolutionary abolishments: national emancipation in Poland, actions against the Bourgeoisie in
Germany consisting of fighting absolute monarchy, the feudal squirarchy, and the Bourgeoisie.
Germany s attempt to fight the Bourgeoisie peaks the attention of the Communist party. Marx
comments on page thirty four that the Communists support every revolutionary movement against the
existing order of things, whether it s from a political standpoint or a social standpoint. Marx s final

The Invention Of Wings By Sue Monk Kidd
Hetty Handful Grimké appears as Sue Monk Kidd s empowering female voice in The Invention of
Wings. As a slave in early 19th century Charleston, Handful yearns for life outside of the oppressive
walls of the Grimké household. Displayed in her childhood, Handful s determination and rebellious
spirit develop as she fights through life as a slave. As she matures, Handful s passionate courage
emerges, aiding her in coping with her reality.
Handful s determination as a child matures as she does to guide her through the turbulence of
enslavement. A fortitudinous soul in her youth, Handful refuses to accept her position in the world. At
the age of ten, Handful becomes Sarah Grimké s waiting maid; therefore thrust into the responsibility
of waiting on the girl s every desire, including sleeping outside Sarah s room awaiting evening orders.
She displays determination as a child the first time Sarah s mother, Missus, hits her with a cane. After
incorrectly setting a fire in Sarah s room which causes the entire house to evacuate, Missus hits
Handful. As she raises the cane a second time, Handful, determined not to let her win, stands up and
glares at her. Sarah recognizes the resolution within Handful: she was looking at me like she s never
seen me in her life (24). The young girl again displays her fortitude in returning to the room she
shared with her mother rather than sleeping outside Sarah s door. Handful is determined to cling to the
remnants of her childhood that

Euthanasia Is Criminal and Inmoral
Euthanasia is criminal and does not agree with the morals of people today. Ed Feinstein, senior rabbi
of Valley Beth Shalom in Encino, California states that, It [prayer] recognizes God as the one who
decides Who will live and who will die (Wood 3 added brackets). Assisted suicide is a peculiar
process and not the intended way to die. The constitution of India comments in Article 21 on the right
to life:
Right to life is a natural right embodied in Article 21 but suicide is an unnatural termination or
extinction of life and, therefore, incompatible and inconsistent with the concept of right to life . It is
the duty of the State to protect life and the physician s duty to provide care and not to harm patients. If
euthanasia is legalised, then there is a grave apprehension that the State may refuse to invest in health
(working towards Right to life). Legalised euthanasia has led to a severe decline in the quality of care
for terminally ill patients in Holland.
If euthanasia is legalized it will change the values of doctors and push them to pressure other terminal
patients into euthanasia. Euthanasia goes against the Hippocratic Oath doctors take at the beginning of
their career and places them in an unsafe environment. Lynn Pasquerella, president of Mount Holyoke
College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, who has a PhD in philosophy states, . . . health care
providers are likely to experience ever increasing moral distress over how to abide by the Hippocratic
Oath s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Oxide Nanoparticle
Nowadays, in adsorptive separation and purification, activated carbon, zeolites, activated alumina, and
silica gels, as existing commercial sorbents, have important roles. However, innovative technological
developments are needed in the new economy and under the stringent environmental regulations.
Despite very promising features of the newly developed nanostructured sorbent materials, basically
exploring and systematic investigations are needed on both synthesis methods and adsorption
characteristic studies (Deng 2006).
The goal of nanotechnology is to make nanostructures or nano arrays with special properties, which
do not exist in their bulk or single particle types. Oxide nanoparticles can present unique physical and
chemical properties, because of their limited size and a high density in their corner or edge surface

Hey Jude Analysis
Is an imitation of an already existing artwork a separate artwork in itself? Some philosophers consider
would consider saying yes to this question such as Davies from the theory of multiple artworks while
others may say no such as Collingwood in his differentiation of a true artwork as contrasted with a
craft. There are many instances of artwork that are only imitations but the credit for its appreciation
are given to different people. For example, would a cover for Hey Jude by the Beatles in Youtube be
considered an instance of the musical work Hey Jude or would it be considered an entirely separate
artwork? The title of the song that is being sung remains Hey Jude but the appreciation of the
performance now belongs to the one who made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a man singing Yellow by Coldplay would be a co author of his own performance along
with Coldplay but only if they intended to imitate the song in its original form. Even without all the
instruments present, if the intent is there to imitate the song Yellow with the best of his abilities, then
they would be in a joint authorship. However, if the intent is for there to be a change to the original,
then the imitation artist would be comparable to a ready made artist such as Duchamp. Joint
authorship according to Livingston requires that the authors share the aim for contributing to the
making of a single... work and in this case, the aim of the imitation author would not be sharing the
same aim in contributing to that work as the original artist intended. In the case of Duchamp s
L.H.O.O.Q. , he did not intend for the work to be regarded in the same manner as Da Vinci s Mona
Lisa . In the same way that the Fountain does not give credit to the creator of the urinal itself in the
role of being an artwork as it is to be regarded in a different manner than of a normal urinal, Duchamp
s L.H.O.O.Q. only gives proper credit to the creator, Duchamp and not Da Vinci. This can be applied

The effects of green fluorescent protein on E. coli bacteria
Introduction:
Genetic transformation occurs when genes are inserted into another gene to change the organism s
trait (Weedman2016). In this experiment, we proceeded to transform the E. coli bacteria with a gene
that contained green fluorescent protein. The green fluorescent protein is used in experiments because
it beams a green color under a UV light (Chalfie2008). Typically, it is used to mark the expression of
genes, which is why it serves as the symbol for all gene expressions (Tsien1998). In the experiment,
we will be using pGLO as the organisms that will transmit the disease, otherwise known as a vector.

Common Law And The Statute Law Essay
Introduction
In Australian, a proprietary company need to registered to start its business under corporation Act
2001. This is is a common wealth legislation administered by the ASIC. Normally, a corporation does
not have a legal existence before the registration. Registration of a company makes it can be treated as
a legal entity . The company can have its own name to hold its property, it can enter into a contract or
rescind, also the company can be sued or sue the others. Registration is the most important but not the
only thing to establish a business. Before the registration, a company may be have to entry into a
contract. Before the pre registration, the contract always void because the company is not a legal
entity. So the pre registration contracts cause many legal problems of the rights and responsibilities.
The pre registration contracts have different explains in the Australian legal system, the most
important are the common law and the statute law.
Common Law
The Australian High Court is over the State Supreme Courts who has the general appellate
jurisdictions. So there is only one uniform common law remains in Australia which is originated from
the English Common law. At present, more and more statute law and relevant cases has been used.
Statute law
Statute laws are laws which are passed in the parliaments in Australia. The local councils, departments
of the government and other statutory authorities are the different parties who have given legislation

Tender Is Night Character Analysis
The Tragic Downfall of Promising Psychiatrist Dick Diver
The work of F. Scott Fitzgerald The Tender is Night shows us how a character having strong qualities
such as education and career may collapse in search of entering into a new world which results in
hamartia or a fatal flaw. It is the protagonist young American Doctor Dick Diver s tragic downfall
which attracts many critics attention on the work who is an educated promising psychiatrist and
traveling man that shuttles between Vienna and Zurich in the pursuit of to be a good psychologist
maybe to be the greatest one that ever lived (Fitzgerald 147). It can be considered as an irony that as a
talented psychiatrist Dick Diver who has a published book A Psychology for Psychiatrists and has
ambitious desire in finding out ways for the mental illnesses Diver s himself ironically gets caught to a
kind of mental illness that causes his frustration. In this perspective, in the novel the protagonist Diver
s trauma is considered in a way as a good example for many psychiatrists who are in search of causes
and solutions for mental illnesses together with Nicole character in the novel. According to Bruccoli,
the novel is a new plot set in Europe about an American psychiatrist who is ruined by his marriage to a
wealthy mental patient (Bruccoli 330) while some critics consider the novel as breakdowns:
breakdowns in marriage, friendships, and individuals (Lucas 89). It has been argued that the title of
Fitzgerald s novel Tender Is the Night has taken it from the work of John Keats s Ode to A
Nightingale. According to William E. Doherty the novel Tender Is the Night also gets its essence from
Keat s work.
The title of the novel and the epigraph Fitzgerald offers illuminate the significance of night and
darkness in the story. An enquiry reveals a complicated and careful symbolic structure in Tender Is the
Night involving a contrast between the night and the day, darkness and light (6)
Although the novel is the last completed work of Fitzgerald one of the difficulties that the novel
presents is its ambiguity in understanding the chronological order of the work. While in the
masterpiece of Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby the protagonist Gatsby s downfall

American Musician, Prince
Prince, also known as Jamie Starr, Alexander Nevermind, The Purple One and Joey Coco, among
others, is an American musician whose career has spanned over three decades from the 1970s. His
ever changing, androgynous style and the innovative and creative approach with which he takes on
musical ventures have helped in him selling millions of albums worldwide and still allows him to have
his stake in the rock, funk and R B genres today.
Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, was born in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 7th 1958.
He was born into a musical family as his parents Mattie Shaw and John L. Nelson were both
musicians. Prince was named after the Prince Roger Trio which was led by his jazz pianist father,
John, and often featured his mother, Mattie, as a jazz singer (GUINESS, 1989). Prince s father
encouraged him and his younger sister, Tika, to take an interest in music from a young age, which led
to Prince teaching himself how to play the piano and writing his first composition at the age of seven.
As a child, Prince was often bullied in school and became a recluse. As a result, he turned to music as
a source of refuge and started writing some of his own music but he never considered music as a
career until he saw James Brown live for the first time when he was 10 years old (GUINESS, 1989).
Because of his parents separation in 1970, Prince moved away from his home with his mother and
stepfather and went to live with his father before drifting off to live

Instinct A By Henry Carpenter Summary
In Extract A, Carpenter suggests that Henry s lack of experience in the administrative running of a
country, his rapacity and his bias against the nobles lead to the relationship between the King and the
nobility being undermined. A convincing point that Carpenter provides is that Henry had no
experience of running a country. Having spent fourteen years in exile in Brittany, he had not grown up
amongst the nobles in the English royal courts, and therefore this not only diminished his experience
of administration but also separated him from the English nobility. This created a great dependence
upon the guidance of others, as he had no past knowledge of how to run a country. The extract is also
convincing because it argues that Henry greatly restricted the powers of the nobility. With previous
monarchs, the nobility had a great amount of power, however, with Henry, it was very different. Being
a noble did not guarantee power or closeness to the king, and, in fact, by the end of his reign, Henry
had retreated so far from the nobility that, essentially, their only role was to be part of the
magnificance of court life. Henry gave a voice to the middle classes new men , as they were known,
became greatly politically active, whereas the nobility had an obligation of loyalty being forced upon
them. How influential you were now depended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Social Forces Allowed The Spread Of Flash Mob
Memes have taken over our society. They have invaded everything that we know from food, music,
movies, and TV shows. A meme is recognized as an idea, behavior, and a style that spread through
individuals within a culture. Memes come in a variety of forms such as TV and movie references that
are expressed in an image, jokes, minor everyday consequences or piece of text. The word meme was
coined by Richard Dawkins in his book The Selfish Gene in 1976. Now with the internet memes
spreads quickly throughout society. Bill Wasik a senior editor at wired magazine wrote a book named

Wasik writes, the vast majority of events are summarily ignored, while a small subset of events
attracts enormous audiences and, soon media attention (477). In this line, Wasik is talking about how
protests, plays, concerts, and other events don t receive that much attention as a flash mob. During the
presidential elections, political memes were all over social media. The most common political memes
that drowned social media were with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. One meme consisted of a
little boy sticking a knife into a socket, then the text reads: Trump or Hillary? Top socket or bottom
socket? This meme spread instantly after the debate. There were some individuals who haven t watch
the debate, and attention was drawn to the meme and people realize whoever wins, either way, they
are screwed. Throughout this election, attention was drawn more to the memes than the actual
election. Because people didn t pay attention to politics directly, memes were used to inform and
shape the opinion of the general public about politics. Memes do more that bring laughter to a group
of people that can relate to it, they shape the minds of individuals on social issues. Social issues are an

The Goals Of Language Learning And Teaching
The goals of language learning and teaching
Introduction
It is generally recognized that language is a vehicle for the expression or exchanging of thoughts,
concepts, knowledge, and information as well as the fixing and transmission of experience and
knowledge. (Bussmann, 1996: 253)
Language is the method in which people from certain culture organize their thoughts, helping them to
communicate with each other. Moreover, language shapes their relationship with other cultural people,
and different languages have abilities to shape that relationship differently. Setting language learning
goals is one of the most important key strategies, which mostly successful language learners obtain.
The biggest problem of language learners obtaining is lack of language learning goals. Kern (1995)
noted that it is meaningful to understand learners beliefs and desires about language learning, which
gives the important point of language learning goals.
In general goals, Coleman (1996) found that the six most popular reasons were because I like the
language, for my future career, for travelling in different countries, to have a better understanding of
other countries thinking way, and because I would like to live in foreign countires.
In SLA perspective, there are many goals for language learners. SLA focuses on whether the learners
actually obtain native like competence (Long, 1990), The goal can be overcoming problems with
language learner s communicative abilities; the

Piaget Of Piaget s Sensorimotor Stage Essay
Vignette I This behavior can be explained by Piaget s sensorimotor stage. Piaget discovered that from
the time they are born until they reach about the age of two, children experience the world through
their senses (Myers, 2010, p. 181). Infants, up until about 8 months, also are also extremely focused
on the present and have not yet developed a sense of object permanence, which can lead to the out of
sight, out of mind mindset (Myers, 2010, p. 181). This is evident in the situation at hand, in which a
young child does not recognize a relative seen only months earlier. The child most likely had not yet
developed a sense of object permanence the last time the relative visited, and was quickly forgotten.
Therefore, when the relative was seen by the child after it had begun to remember that things out of
sight did not cease to exist, the child must have developed stranger anxiety from not seeing the
relative. A constructive solution to this situation would be for the relative to simply visit more often.
This would allow the child to get familiar towards the relative, and also help to become increasingly
attached to the relative (Myers, 2010, p. 190). The child would then no longer fear its well meaning
relative. Not to mention, the relative would cease to worry that the young child is being spoiled.
Vignette II Vignette two can be explained by Piaget s preoperational stage. This accounts for children
2 to about 6, and is characterized by using intuitive logic. (Myers,

doctors, nurses, family doctors and specialist. The spreading of the virus seemed to follow its own
pattern. The first stage would start with infected people coming to the hospital with more severe cases.
These hospitalized cases would than in turn enter the second stage of transmission. The health care
workers themselves would than get affected due to have close contact with the patients and breathing
contaminated air. Seeing as the virus was transmitted via close contact and the air. Being around the ill

just those patients any other patients who interacted with that health care taker could also contract the

The Culture And Climate Is A System Of Shared Assumptions,...
Introduction The culture and climate both leave a major imprint on any organization. They tend to
have the biggest impact during transformational periods. In order for change to be present in any
organization, the leader must first identify and be able to stabilize both culture and climate
components. While organizational climate has been around for some time now, organizational climate
is a relatively recent development. (Papa, M.J., Daniels, T.D., Spiker, B.K. (2008)
Description
Organizational culture is a system of shared assumptions, values and beliefs that governs how people
behave in organizations. The culture of an organization provides boundaries and guidelines that help
members of the organization know the correct way to perform their jobs. (McLaughlin, John)
Organizational climate is the umbrella term to indicate the process of quantifying the organizational
culture of an organization. It is a set of properties of the work environment, perceived directly or
indirectly by the employees, that is assumed to be a major force in influencing employee behavior.
Organizational climate can also be defined as the recurring patterns of behavior, attitudes and feelings
that characterize life in the organization. (MBA Brief)
There are several differences between the culture and climate. Being a part of a culture, often times
involve some adjusting to the new environment. For example, you wouldn t act the same in a rock
concert as you would a gospel concert. These

Relationships And Literary Devices In Narcopolis By Jeet...
Sanskriti Merchant SYBA 345,141259 A. ENG. 4.01 19th January 2016 Role of relationships and
literary devices in Narcopolis by Jeet Thayil Some might argue that this literary masterpiece is a book
about wasted lives, but it isn t. It s a book about selling one s soul and taking a great amount of
satisfaction from it. This unapologetic portrayal of a life devoted to drugs is Thayil s debut novel from
the perspective of an outsider slowly gaining the status of someone who belongs. It might be
considered to be close to his own biopic, a fact that Thayil does not try to conceal. It is an enchanting
tale of Mumbai s hazy world of opium addiction in the 1970s when the underbelly of Bombay was
disjointed from the glitz and glamour of the new found city. The book ... Show more content on

Thayil confesses that he believes that the only way to write about opium is through long, open ended
sentences. The city, as given by the title, is the central character of the novel. Thayil named his book
Narcopolis because Bombay seemed to me a city of intoxication, where the substances on offer were
drugs and alcohol, of course, but also god, glamour, power, money and sex . The other characters
swarm in and out of the city, all a mere blip in the working of the mechanism that is this metropolis.
However, the author does not underrate the importance of their lives. On the contrary, the novel
portrays their lives as if they were indispensable to the decade. As if their very existence made the
sullen streets of Bombay what they are today. As if every street has a Dimple, a Rumi, and a Lee.
Kevin Rushby s statement I wished that this book, like some long and delicious opium induced
daydream, would go on and on. gives one a precise

Who Is Knocking By Norma Lee
Knock Knock. Who s there? Norma Lee. Norma Lee who? Norma Lee I don t go around knocking on

of political figures. These satirical representation all have one thing in common. They give you humor,
even the slightest smile to rolling on the floor busting out laughing. The truth is that comedy brings
you joy. No matter how hysterical something may be it always finds a way of bringing you
happiness. The authors in this unit transmits humor by using extreme exaggeration in a story to display
an entertaining genre.
In the essay,¨I ve got a few pet peeves about sea creatures¨, written by Dave Barry, he conveys humor
about life to truth by making a serious topic amusing for the audience. Like personal thoughts or
feelings about a serious subject. For example, in the passage it said, It turns out that an aquarium is a
powder keg that can explode in deadly violence at any moment, just like the Middle East, or junior
high school. This is just one of many examples of hyperboles, which means an extreme exaggeration
used for emphasis. He took something serious as like violence and made it facetious. He also conveys

incredibly witty and tricks other people into doing his work for him. To me I find this novel high
comedy because if found it difficult to understand. The difference between High comedy and low
comedy is that in low comedy it s frequently seen as a hilarious effect and how the plot takes priority
over the characters. Meanwhile, high comedy is primarily focused on the characters dialogue or ideas.

Compare The Allegory Of The Cave And Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451 and The Allegory of the Cave relate in the sense that society is ignorant and fears
facing reality. In both, the discovery of something unknown or unfamiliar changes the characters
views on the world, especially after being exposed to something so different to what you have spent
your whole life knowing. In Fahrenheit 451, Montag, a man whose job as a fireman was to rid of
books by setting them on fire, met a young girl named Clarisse, who talked to him about the time
when firemen put out fires instead of starting them, and read and wrote books instead of trying to
eliminate all of them. When Montag learned this, he became rather curious and began collecting books
and hiding them in his home to read and try to discover the meanings books held. He found that the
reason society feared it so much was because the books writing could trigger negative emotions like
sadness. Still, he wanted to show society that there is nothing wrong with that, and that books need to
be brought back. Doing this meant putting his reputation in jeopardy, but having begun to see how
ignorant society was, he couldn t sit and pretend to be happy with it. Society was trying so hard to
create a utopia and avoid facing reality that they didn t stop to see how much of the world they were
missing out on. Montag took action, and though it wasn t the best decision, it still shows that when
you are shown light after being in the dark all your life, you might find yourself wanting to look

The Education System Of Ethiopia
Pastoralist Education in Ethiopia Currently:
For several years, donors have been implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in Ethiopia as
a way to supplement the formal primary education system in the country. Currently the country faces a
number of challenges in regards to their formal primary school system including lack of infrastructure,
lack of teachers and economical constraints. Many regions in Ethiopia are hard to reach and the
provision of formal education is lacking. To supplement this lack of formal primary schools, donors,
together with governments have implemented Alternative Basic Education Center s. These centers are
set up differently than formal school as it covers the curriculum of lower primary school, which is
traditionally 4 years, and fits it all into 3 years. Upon completion of these 3 years, it is expected that
students will be prepared to move into upper primary school (grades 5 8). This set up alleviates the
problem of a lack of primary schools, and by completing the curriculum in 3 years, it allows those
children who started late to catch up. (CARE Interview)
Save the Children Denmark s Alternative Basic Education Project was implemented in the Amhara
Region of Ethiopia. While this is not a pastoralist region, it provided Save the Children and the
Ethiopian government many insights to non formal education models and many organizations began
implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in the Afar and Somali regions following this

Of Nervous Conditions By Chinua Achebe s Nervous Conditions
THE AUTHENTICITY OF AFRICAN STORIES
Africa has been viewed as the antithesis of Europe. It has been undermined as some may say it is
underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as
uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will
outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I
will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private
Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how
Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis
for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the
novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A
Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs.
According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an
opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in
contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised.
Joseph Conrad s novella eliminates Africans as a human factor and represents Africa as a blank stage
where Europeans enter an implicitly dangerous zone which functions as a plot

The Federal Definition Of Foster Care
Donella H. Meadows defines a system as a set of elements or parts that is coherently organized and
interconnected in a pattern or structure that produces a characteristic set of behaviors (Meadows,
2014, p. 188). The federal definition of foster care is a 24 hour substitute care for children placed
away from their parents or guardians and for whom the State agency has placement and care
responsibility (Johnson, 2004). Therapeutic foster care is a subsystem of the suprasystem which is
foster care. The Quality Foster Care Services Act defines therapeutic foster care as foster care which is
highly effective in placing children with serious medical, psychological, emotional, and social needs
into a home in which foster parents are specially trained to address the needs and challenges of the
children (U.S. Senators Baldwin and Portman Lead Effort to Improve Foster Care Services for
America s Most Vulnerable Youth, 2014).
Goals, elements, and concepts
Goal of the system
Many systems are goal oriented. They interact with the environment in order to achieve a specific goal
or target. The primary goal of placing a child in the TFC agency with medically fragile children is to
meet the medical and mental health needs present (Youth, 2014). Additionally, a sense of permanency
is the end goal for all children in the suprasystem of foster care. This would come by way of returning
the child back to their original home with their parents or guardians or having the child adopted by

Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)

ACP follows a clinical structure, the first aspect of the format is called a primary survey which
collects all emergency patient information. This compulsory technique aims to identify and control
catastrophic medical events to ensure patients have the best outcome possible (Hodegetts et al., 2011).
When conducting a primary survey of a patient an ACP would follow the basic structure of danger,

Gps, Gps And Remote Sensing Technologies
4.0 Spatial Technologies
The GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing technologies have evolved over the last two decades, as the three
most important spatial database technologies for the developmental planning and decision support.
Today, these spatial technologies play a revolutionary role in disaster monitoring, assessment and
management. Remote sensing is used for real time and accurate data capture. GIS is used as the most
effective and efficient tool for storing, integrating, manipulating and presenting spatial and non spatial
information. GPS is used for obtaining precise coordinates of important geographical features,
emergency mapping and establishing connectivity in the neighborhood.

spatial data and attribute data and data from various sources is one of the strongest features of GIS.
The spatial data in the form of maps, satellite images, aerial photographs, GPS observations and
adhered to a common spatial framework are integrated in GIS environment for what if analysis and

My Career At Florida State University
After completing my bachelor s degree at Florida State University in the fall of 1997, I began my
career at a small hospital in Largo, Florida. I started on a thirty eight bed cardiac/telemetry unit. I had
the fortunate opportunity to orient with a seasoned nurse who loved her career in nursing. She was an
enthusiastic preceptor that not only educated me on the tasks of nursing but inspired and introduced
me to critical care and critical thinking. I spent the next three years at this hospital working in the
Coronary Care Unit until deciding to become a travel nurse and see the country. I began travel nursing
with my best friend and we worked in Florida, Washington D.C., New York and Denver. At all of
these locations we worked in the intensive care unit. Each experience provided a different population
and vast new experiences. The hospital in D.C. was in a low socioeconomic area and my knowledge
base of wounds, hypertension and diabetes improved. I also learned how to let go of some of my own
biases and judgments of people different than myself. In New York, I worked in a large facility on the
Upper East Side with a very different clientele. I worked in the pulmonary/medical intensive care unit
and with a varied population. New York is home to many different cultures and I learned to understand
and appreciate cultural differences. In Denver, we worked at three different metropolitan area
hospitals in medical ICU s. Each of these hospitals provided great learning

The French Of Religious Identity Essay
Have you ever wondered why the French are so private about their religion? It is because the French
are required to keep their religious identity out of the public space. The French call it laïcité or
secularism but it means much more than just the separation of church and state. It guarantees the
freedom from religion in the public domain so that no one is oppressed by religion and everyone is
seen equally. Muslims, living in France, are being treated unequally by the state while they support the
catholic majority. This seems hypocritical coming from a nation that prides itself on being secular. The
hypocrisy of Frances outdated laws of secularism and deep catholic roots cause discrimination and
oppression of Muslim identity while aiding catholic organizations.
Frances transition from a monarchical society with close relations to the catholic church into a secular
republic dates to the French revolution in 1789. After a dispute between the Vatican and the French
state, they came to an agreement known as the concordat. This arrangement would keep the church
under state tutelage but leave it alone if they kept to themselves. It wasn t until 1905 when the law of
separation was ratified that the church and state would be completely independent. Laïcité at its core is
considered the belief that religion is a private matter . In this manner, the republic would adopt laïcité
as its national religion and no longer recognize, remunerate, or subsidize any other religion. However,

California Bill Would Reduce Traffic Ticket Fines for the Poor
Stephen Yang
Many people pay traffic fines in California, but not everyone is impacted in the same way. According
to a new report from the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area [1],
traffic fines in California have an outsize effect on low income drivers and people of color.
And those consequences are not just monetary. Unpaid tickets can result in additional fines. Failure to
pay those fines can lead to suspension or loss of license, and even jail time for some if they continue
to drive without a license. As a result, over 4 million California drivers were without a license in 2015
[1].
Because of disparities in policing, the money issues wind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some cases, the inability to pay drove their traffic debt into the thousands of dollars.
When Aaron Cutchon of Sacramento was laid off from his job at an auto body shop, he could no
longer afford to pay for two traffic tickets he got for driving in a carpool lane. His license was
suspended, and he had to stop attending classes at a Napa junior college where he was working toward
an associate s degree [6].
Eunika Smith of San Diego said her license was suspended because she couldn t pay off her tickets.
She just got a new job at a hospital and needs to drive for work. And for people already barely making
it, not having a driver s license only intensified their burden [7].
The issue garnered national attention after the U.S. Department of Justice found similar laws in
Ferguson, Missouri, burdened poor residents with crippling debt, according to a 2015 report [8]. In
California, about 488,000 people had suspended driver s licenses for unpaid traffic tickets or missing
related court appearances as of March 2017, the most recent number the department could provide,
DMV spokesman Artemio Armenta said [9].
People s lives are unraveled by one traffic ticket. People couldn t get their medicine. People couldn t
take their kids to school. People couldn t drive to their work. Extraordinary stories like these

Morgan (1898) observes in different methods how the planaria are cut into smaller pieces, and then he observes the pieces to see if the planaria will regenerate. When the planaria are cut near the head, the pieces do not appear to regenerate, and the pieces cut too small also do not possess the ability to regenerate (Morgan, 1898). Pieces cut from the middle and the end piece of the planaria, however, have shown results of respawning from within the old tissue. When the author tried to fuse two sampled pieces together, he observed that the pieces formed a union (Morgan, 1898). However, the fusion did not last long, and the pieces died long after fusing together (Morgan, 1898). It is likely that the samples were not able to complete the regeneration after the union emerged. The Women of Umuofia in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart The only women respected in Umuofia are those like Chielo, the priestess of the Oracle of the Hills and Caves, who is removed from the pale of normalcy. Clothed in the mystic mantle of the divinity she serves, Chielo transforms from the ordinary; she can reprimand Okonkwo and even scream curses at him: Beware of exchanging words with Agbala [the name of the Oracle of the Hills and Caves]. Does a man speak when a God speaks? Beware! (95). Yet if Okonkwo is powerless before a goddess s priestess, he can, at least, control his own women. She has the makings of a spirited, independent character, by virtue of her overseas education and profession as a nurse. She can afford to do without Obi Okonkwo. Mrs. Eleanor John, a tough party woman and board member rich, independent, assertive lamentably is cast as a semiliterate businesswoman with no noteworthy role. • 4. Communist Manifesto Essay The Communist Manifesto was built with intentions to serve as a program meant for the Communist party during its time of publishing. Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, philosopher and author (titled respectively), composed the document as a form of instruction for the followers of a new congress, which is known as The Second Congress . The duo worked tirelessly throughout the final months of the year 1847 and through January of 1848, only to have a modified adaptation of their original document published in February of 1848. The Communist Manifesto acted as a symbol of victory for the newcomers to the Communist party. The authors used the document to clarify the contradictions in between various social classes and to identify various injustices in between them. To ensure that their views and opinions of the Communist party were proliferated throughout as much of the continent of Europe as possible, Marx and Engels requested that editions be published in multiple languages for multiple understandings. As she matures, Handful s passionate courage emerges, aiding her in coping with her reality. Handful s determination as a child matures as she does to guide her through the turbulence of enslavement. A fortitudinous soul in her youth, Handful refuses to accept her position in the world. At the age of ten, Handful becomes Sarah Grimké s waiting maid; therefore thrust into the responsibility of waiting on the girl s every desire, including sleeping outside Sarah s room awaiting evening orders. • 6. Euthanasia Is Criminal and Inmoral Euthanasia is criminal and does not agree with the morals of people today. Ed Feinstein, senior rabbi of Valley Beth Shalom in Encino, California states that, It [prayer] recognizes God as the one who decides Who will live and who will die (Wood 3 added brackets). Assisted suicide is a peculiar process and not the intended way to die. The constitution of India comments in Article 21 on the right to life: Right to life is a natural right embodied in Article 21 but suicide is an unnatural termination or extinction of life and, therefore, incompatible and inconsistent with the concept of right to life . It is the duty of the State to protect life and the physician s duty to provide care and not to harm patients. If euthanasia is legalised, then there is a grave apprehension that the State may refuse to invest in health (working towards Right to life). Legalised euthanasia has led to a severe decline in the quality of care for terminally ill patients in Holland. If euthanasia is legalized it will change the values of doctors and push them to pressure other terminal patients into euthanasia. Euthanasia goes against the Hippocratic Oath doctors take at the beginning of their career and places them in an unsafe environment. Some philosophers consider would consider saying yes to this question such as Davies from the theory of multiple artworks while others may say no such as Collingwood in his differentiation of a true artwork as contrasted with a craft. However, if the intent is for there to be a change to the original, then the imitation artist would be comparable to a ready made artist such as Duchamp. Joint authorship according to Livingston requires that the authors share the aim for contributing to the making of a single... work and in this case, the aim of the imitation author would not be sharing the same aim in contributing to that work as the original artist intended. Scott Fitzgerald The Tender is Night shows us how a character having strong qualities such as education and career may collapse in search of entering into a new world which results in hamartia or a fatal flaw. It is the protagonist young American Doctor Dick Diver s tragic downfall which attracts many critics attention on the work who is an educated promising psychiatrist and traveling man that shuttles between Vienna and Zurich in the pursuit of to be a good psychologist maybe to be the greatest one that ever lived (Fitzgerald 147). It can be considered as an irony that as a talented psychiatrist Dick Diver who has a published book A Psychology for Psychiatrists and has ambitious desire in finding out ways for the mental illnesses Diver s himself ironically gets caught to a kind of mental illness that causes his frustration. In this perspective, in the novel the protagonist Diver s trauma is considered in a way as a good example for many psychiatrists who are in search of causes and solutions for mental illnesses together with Nicole character in the novel. According to Bruccoli, the novel is a new plot set in Europe about an American psychiatrist who is ruined by his marriage to a wealthy mental patient (Bruccoli 330) while some critics consider the novel as breakdowns: breakdowns in marriage, friendships, and individuals (Lucas 89). It has been argued that the title of Fitzgerald s novel Tender Is the Night has taken it from the work of John Keats s Ode to A Nightingale. According to William E. Doherty the novel Tender Is the Night also gets its essence from Keat s work. The title of the novel and the epigraph Fitzgerald offers illuminate the significance of night and darkness in the story. An enquiry reveals a complicated and careful symbolic structure in Tender Is the Night involving a contrast between the night and the day, darkness and light (6) Although the novel is the last completed work of Fitzgerald one of the difficulties that the novel presents is its ambiguity in understanding the chronological order of the work. American Musician, Prince Prince, also known as Jamie Starr, Alexander Nevermind, The Purple One and Joey Coco, among others, is an American musician whose career has spanned over three decades from the 1970s. His ever changing, androgynous style and the innovative and creative approach with which he takes on musical ventures have helped in him selling millions of albums worldwide and still allows him to have his stake in the rock, funk and R B genres today. Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, was born in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 7th 1958. He was born into a musical family as his parents Mattie Shaw and John L. Nelson were both musicians. Prince was named after the Prince Roger Trio which was led by his jazz pianist father, John, and often featured his mother, Mattie, as a jazz singer (GUINESS, 1989). Prince s father encouraged him and his younger sister, Tika, to take an interest in music from a young age, which led to Prince teaching himself how to play the piano and writing his first composition at the age of seven. As a child, Prince was often bullied in school and became a recluse. As a result, he turned to music as a source of refuge and started writing some of his own music but he never considered music as a career until he saw James Brown live for the first time when he was 10 years old (GUINESS, 1989). • 14. Instinct A By Henry Carpenter Summary In Extract A, Carpenter suggests that Henry s lack of experience in the administrative running of a country, his rapacity and his bias against the nobles lead to the relationship between the King and the nobility being undermined. A convincing point that Carpenter provides is that Henry had no experience of running a country. Having spent fourteen years in exile in Brittany, he had not grown up amongst the nobles in the English royal courts, and therefore this not only diminished his experience of administration but also separated him from the English nobility. This created a great dependence upon the guidance of others, as he had no past knowledge of how to run a country. The extract is also convincing because it argues that Henry greatly restricted the powers of the nobility. With previous monarchs, the nobility had a great amount of power, however, with Henry, it was very different. Being a noble did not guarantee power or closeness to the king, and, in fact, by the end of his reign, Henry had retreated so far from the nobility that, essentially, their only role was to be part of the magnificance of court life. Henry gave a voice to the middle classes new men , as they were known, became greatly politically active, whereas the nobility had an obligation of loyalty being forced upon them. • 18. The Goals Of Language Learning And Teaching The goals of language learning and teaching Introduction It is generally recognized that language is a vehicle for the expression or exchanging of thoughts, concepts, knowledge, and information as well as the fixing and transmission of experience and knowledge. (Bussmann, 1996: 253) Language is the method in which people from certain culture organize their thoughts, helping them to communicate with each other. Moreover, language shapes their relationship with other cultural people, and different languages have abilities to shape that relationship differently. Setting language learning goals is one of the most important key strategies, which mostly successful language learners obtain. The biggest problem of language learners obtaining is lack of language learning goals. Kern (1995) noted that it is meaningful to understand learners beliefs and desires about language learning, which gives the important point of language learning goals. In general goals, Coleman (1996) found that the six most popular reasons were because I like the language, for my future career, for travelling in different countries, to have a better understanding of other countries thinking way, and because I would like to live in foreign countires. In SLA perspective, there are many goals for language learners. • 19. Piaget Of Piaget s Sensorimotor Stage Essay Vignette I This behavior can be explained by Piaget s sensorimotor stage. Piaget discovered that from the time they are born until they reach about the age of two, children experience the world through their senses (Myers, 2010, p. 181). Infants, up until about 8 months, also are also extremely focused on the present and have not yet developed a sense of object permanence, which can lead to the out of sight, out of mind mindset (Myers, 2010, p. 181). This is evident in the situation at hand, in which a young child does not recognize a relative seen only months earlier. The child most likely had not yet developed a sense of object permanence the last time the relative visited, and was quickly forgotten. Therefore, when the relative was seen by the child after it had begun to remember that things out of sight did not cease to exist, the child must have developed stranger anxiety from not seeing the relative. A constructive solution to this situation would be for the relative to simply visit more often. This would allow the child to get familiar towards the relative, and also help to become increasingly attached to the relative (Myers, 2010, p. 190). The child would then no longer fear its well meaning relative. Not to mention, the relative would cease to worry that the young child is being spoiled. Vignette II Vignette two can be explained by Piaget s preoperational stage. This accounts for children 2 to about 6, and is characterized by using intuitive logic. (Myers, ... They tend to have the biggest impact during transformational periods. In order for change to be present in any organization, the leader must first identify and be able to stabilize both culture and climate components. While organizational climate has been around for some time now, organizational climate is a relatively recent development. (Papa, M.J., Daniels, T.D., Spiker, B.K. (2008) Description Organizational culture is a system of shared assumptions, values and beliefs that governs how people behave in organizations. The culture of an organization provides boundaries and guidelines that help members of the organization know the correct way to perform their jobs. (McLaughlin, John) Organizational climate is the umbrella term to indicate the process of quantifying the organizational culture of an organization. It is a set of properties of the work environment, perceived directly or indirectly by the employees, that is assumed to be a major force in influencing employee behavior. In Fahrenheit 451, Montag, a man whose job as a fireman was to rid of books by setting them on fire, met a young girl named Clarisse, who talked to him about the time when firemen put out fires instead of starting them, and read and wrote books instead of trying to eliminate all of them. When Montag learned this, he became rather curious and began collecting books and hiding them in his home to read and try to discover the meanings books held. It has been undermined as some may say it is underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs. According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised. • 43. The French Of Religious Identity Essay Have you ever wondered why the French are so private about their religion? It is because the French are required to keep their religious identity out of the public space. The French call it laïcité or secularism but it means much more than just the separation of church and state. It guarantees the freedom from religion in the public domain so that no one is oppressed by religion and everyone is seen equally. Muslims, living in France, are being treated unequally by the state while they support the catholic majority. This seems hypocritical coming from a nation that prides itself on being secular. The hypocrisy of Frances outdated laws of secularism and deep catholic roots cause discrimination and oppression of Muslim identity while aiding catholic organizations. Frances transition from a monarchical society with close relations to the catholic church into a secular republic dates to the French revolution in 1789. After a dispute between the Vatican and the French state, they came to an agreement known as the concordat. This arrangement would keep the church under state tutelage but leave it alone if they kept to themselves. It wasn t until 1905 when the law of separation was ratified that the church and state would be completely independent. Laïcité at its core is considered the belief that religion is a private matter . In this manner, the republic would adopt laïcité as its national religion and no longer recognize, remunerate, or subsidize any other religion. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Aaron Cutchon of Sacramento was laid off from his job at an auto body shop, he could no longer afford to pay for two traffic tickets he got for driving in a carpool lane. His license was suspended, and he had to stop attending classes at a Napa junior college where he was working toward an associate s degree [6].
