Jesus Christ Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of Jesus Christ is both a challenging and fascinating endeavor. The
difficulty arises not from a lack of information, as there is an abundance of historical, religious,
and cultural material to draw upon. Instead, the challenge lies in navigating the vastness and
complexity of the subject matter.
Jesus Christ is a figure with profound significance in Christianity, a central figure in religious
narratives, and a source of inspiration for millions. Writing an essay about him requires a delicate
balance between historical accuracy, theological interpretations, and cultural perspectives. It
demands a deep understanding of biblical texts, historical contexts, and the ability to navigate
through various theological perspectives.
The challenge further intensifies when attempting to remain objective and respectful, considering
the diverse beliefs and interpretations surrounding Jesus. Striking the right tone, avoiding
unintentional biases, and respecting the sensitivity of the topic are crucial aspects that add layers
of complexity to the writing process.
Additionally, one must grapple with the vast array of scholarly opinions and theological debates,
making it imperative to sift through various perspectives to present a comprehensive and well-
rounded view. Balancing the academic rigor with accessibility for a broader audience adds
another layer of complexity.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of Jesus Christ demands not only a thorough
understanding of the subject but also the ability to navigate through the complexities of religious,
historical, and cultural perspectives. It requires a delicate balance, meticulous research, and a
nuanced approach to present a comprehensive and respectful portrayal of a figure with profound
significance.

Essay Reconciling the Cuban Embargo
Heading the wrong way made Douglas Wrong Way Corrigan famous. When he
filed his flight plan to fly from New York to California and wound up in Ireland
there was much celebrity and very little downside for him. The US, may not be as
lucky with our embargo policy towards Cuba. A policy that may have a major
impact on the US, both domestically and internationally, is truly only actively
discussed in the swing state of Florida. Is the US heading in the wrong direction
with this policy? Certainly the author thinks so, and if he s right it s not likely that
we ll receive a ticker tape parade at the end of journey like Corrigan did.
Alex Lightman walks us through 78 reasons to end the embargo of Cuba. He does this
by stating a reason and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the maon body of the book, Lightman breaks his reasons into five general
categories; General, Political, Economic, Humanitarian and Fair Compensation. Some
of these reasons overlap or are highly intermingled so seeing each point separately
may be difficult from time to time.
General
Lightmans general reasons are a small collection of statements that seem not to fit
anywhere else in the treatise. Those in the business world will recognize that the
focus here is on effective goal setting. He educates the reader on the SMART
technique and details why the Cuban embargo fails to be a SMART goal. Then,
looking from the other perspective, he evaluates the goal in terms of the results
obtained. Now he questions since the goal has not been met, is it appropriate to
continue down the same well worn path. Further to this point, he posits that for the
US to advocate regime change in another nation is not an ethical goal to pursue in
the first place. The section closes out by arguing that the real beneficiaries of the
embargo are people and entities that the American people would never want to
benefit in the first place. His list of beneficiaries includes the Castro brothers, which
would shock any idealistically minded pro embargo supporter.
Political
The vast amount of the book is spent covering the political reasons why the embargo
should be ended. This section
Gothic Architecture With Magnificent Stained Glass

The ultimate expression of French Gothic architecture with magnificent stained glass
windows lies within the Sainte Chapelle. Sainte Chapelle is considered a perfect
example of the Rayonnant style of Gothic architecture. Sainte Chapelle is located
within the Palais de Justice complex on the Ile de la CitГ©, in the center of Paris.
King Louis IX commissioned Sainte Chapellebetween 1241 1248 to house his relics
and Christ s Crown of Thorns. Louis IX bought the Crown of Thorn for 135,000
Livres. For comparison, to build the entire Sainte Chapelle cost 40,000 Livres.
Now, Sainte Chapelle is one of the most visited Catholic Church and considered one
of the greatest sites of Gothic Art. The beauty of Sainte Chapelle is broke down into
a few major categories: exterior, lower, upper, and the stained glasswindows. Over the
centuries, the Chapelle suffered from a fire in 1630, 1776 and from the French
Revolution, causing the Chapelle to go under restoration. Although some relics were
never found again, some are kept in Notre Dame Cathedral and the National Library.
The extraordinary architecture should be preserved and restored when it s needed to
preserve history.
Sainte Chapelle is known for their integrate details inside and outside of the church.
Although the main focus of the church is the upper level with the stained glass
windows, the exterior design of the church is just integrate.
The exterior of Sainte Chapelle features tall windows, subdivided by bar tracery and

Speech On Endangered Animals
Millions of animal species are endangered because people kill animals, people do not
take time to care for them, and people do not understand the meaning of endangered
animals. Animals cannot do anything about what happened to them, because studies
show that animals do not understand what humans do. Since the animals do not
understand what is going on people need to help them out, and support how they
react to the economy. Throughout history, animals are becoming more endangered as
the years go on, because of how people treat their economy and how they treat the
speciesaround their area. The problem with this society is that people would rather go
on with their days than use ten minutes to help save an animals life.
There are many endangered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People really need to start protecting every kind of species, people also need to find
places for them to safely live. The main causes of animals becoming endangered is
the people, habitat loss, and environment change. If people just took time out of the
day, people could easily donated money to care centers for these animals. Even
though animals do not seem important, they should be our number one concern in the
world, because without them what is the point in the

In the real world, problems and complications come up and happily ever after s don
t exist. Sexton takes the classic story of Cinderella , reworks it, and makes it into
her own twisted version of a fairytale. She starts the audience off with a few little
rags to riches accounts comparing modern culture s unrealistic dreams to what life
really is like. Then she goes into telling the readers the famously known fairytale in
a sardonic tone. The audience gets a sense of frustration from her way of expressing
herself in each little story she talks about. She shows the world that its not always

Women have the right to love someone and not think about her financial future with
that person and focus on what is really important for a relationship to work. When
one is in a relationship, he or she will only make it work with honesty. Love isn t
about only making him happy and catering to his every need; it s about both sides
pleasing each other and working things out when necessary with nothing to hide.
Moreover, women get their perspectives of love, and men in general, from their
past experiences or from what they ve seen around them. One loses hope on being

Gordon Ramsay, famous UK celebrity chef, born on November 8th, 1966 in
Scotland and raised in Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire. Ramsay had played
soccer all through his early life in high school. He endured many occupational
injuries during his football career which led to knee injury. Ramsay enrolled at
North Oxfordshire Technical College to study courses in Hotel Management when
he was 19. He then moved to France in order to learn classic French cuisine after
his graduation. (baversa123, student mode, Apr 2012) Being trained with some

However, most people thought chef Ramsay was putting a persona on for the
show and his use of profanity also caused a vast impact on society. In my opinion,
it is rather hard to find anyone who can get away with the things he has said and
done during the show. Initially, Ramsay s frequent fiery temper and use of
expletives during TV shows shocked me. Ramsay s ferocious temper has contributed
to successful media appeal in TV shows. Ramsay wanted his employee to shine both
as individuals and team. It is a common sense that great leadership is way more
important than just being egotistical. According to chef Ramsay he like that kind of
inner calm mixed with vision and motivate a team. (www.irecordtv.com.2013)

History of the Propeller
The aircraft propeller looks like a simple mechanism to the uneducated individual. To
the educated, an aircraft propeller represents the highest sophistication in
aerodynamics, mechanical engineering and structural design. This report will touch
on the history of the propeller, from early pioneers/experiments, advancement during
/after the war, all the way up to current applications of the propeller.
The creation of the propeller can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci s
helical screw helicopter is believed to be the ancestor of the air propeller and the
helicopter rotor. The first idea of a propulsive airscrew, however, belongs to J.P.
Paucton, a French mathematician. Paucton envisioned a flying machine that had two

This dilemma made designing the propeller one of the Wright brothers most
challenging problems. Despite the lack of previous information to consult, the
brothers were able to learn, through investigation and trial/error, that large propeller
diameters would produce high thrust for a given power input. The brothers also
determined that high torque produced by large, slow turning blades adversely
affected the flying qualities (p factor). On their first aircraft, they utilized 8 ВЅ ft
propellers installed behind the wind to minimize airflow disturbance, incorporated
counter rotating propellers to eliminate the problems associated with torque, and
gained thrust efficiency by reducing the blades rotational speed using a chain and
sprocket transmission. The Wright brother s propeller was 66% efficient which was
much higher that any other propeller of the time. The foundations of a disciplined
approach to propeller design evolved soon thereafter. With the advancements and
refinements made by early inventors, engineers could use those test results to design
propellers with better performance and structural reliability. These advancements led
to the development of the first generation of well designed propellers. One of the
first designs was the Integrale , developed by Lucien Chauviere, the world s first
industry standard propeller manufacturer. By 1910, the number of propeller
producers multiplied, and numerous
How Does Theseus Show Sacrifice
Renewal through Sacrifice In modern life persons of all beliefs make sacrifices.
Sacrifice is seen as a major developing theme in The King Must Die. Throughout,
The King Must die, Theseus is shown in many cases where a sacrifice has been
taken place or where he must make one himself. What makes the sacrificeisn t the
action; it is the willingness to do so. Through the novel, Mary Renault s goal was
to convey, to modern day readers, the renewal that sacrifices reveals. In the early
life of Theseus he doesn t know much about sacrifice. He first sees it when the
people of Troizen sacrificed the king horse. At the time he was very confused on
why they killed the king horse. The king of Troizen, Pitheus, explains to Theseus
that the king horse was a sacrifice to Poseidon, and explains how the horses Moria ,
was to be sacrificed to the god Poseidon, and that the king horse must be renewed

states that if anyone is to die he will be the first. This is also a sacrifice because he

the bull dance. Every time in the arena he is risking his life dancing with the bull.

to kill him, and become the next king. Do it then, when I evoke the Mother

doing it for the betterment of his people. Theseus then severs Minos head of with an

liquid, it reacted, proving that it is a food coloring.
Based on all the tests performed, the group made the conclusion that this
Examples Of Inside The Federalist Paper
Looking into the old governmental policies that helped shape our amazing
Constitutional Republic today, I ve noticed quite a few policies that are still in use
today, and for the most part, remain unchanged. Inside The Federalist Papers, by
Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, are a great way to locate the old
governmental policies that are still the same today in America. In Federalist No. 1,
Alexander Hamiltonwrites of the importance and success of the Constitution as the
government. He is very biased throughout the entire essay, but is at least aware of
his bias. He talks about his bias and he forces his opinions on the readers throughout
the entire speech. This discussion of bias actually opened withing and because of this
essay and leads the entire Federalist Papersto be quite biased. However, this bias is
not bad and turned out to be very persuasive to the anti federalists. In Federalist No.

needs to be united. He also lets the people supporting the division of the United

importance of the nation s unity. This is still very important today and is why the

Gene Therapy And Human Genetic Engineering
Although we are all members of a single species, we differ from one another in such
visible traits as the color of our skin and the shape of our noses, and in biochemical
factors such as our blood types and our susceptibility to certain diseases (Sheridan
College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, 2013, p. 34). To understand
human physical development and evolution one has to understand biological
anthropologyas the focus on humans as biological organisms. Biological
anthropologist conduct research, and form techniques of modern molecular biology
to learn about human variation and how it relates to different environment humans
lived in as well as their conditions.
Genetics is the study of heredity and variation in living organisms. biological
Anthropology looks at how biological traits from one generation to the next get
passed along. The article describes gene therapy and human genetic engineering as an
evolution indicating that by allowing tools such as gene therapy we underestimate
the amount of influence it may have on our species. The gene therapy has helped
human species develop and understand more about viruses and and certain diseases
that have developed and evolved throughout evolution. Genetics also helps understand
what humans have in common and what distinctive from other species. Biological
adaptations is the process in which humans, as both individuals and groups, develop
biological characteristics that relate to environmental conditions
Effects of Living in a Foreign Country Essay
Living away from your country can be a really interesting and unforgettable
experience, but at the same time it has very important effects on one s life. The
purpose of this essay is to discuss the three main effects that living in another country
can produce in your personal life.
The major effect, and also a very common one, is that once you start a regular life
away from home, you miss everything. This fact doesn t mean that you are unhappy
but that you are aware of being on your own. Missing your family and the attention
they all paid to you is a very usual thing to do. Little details like sitting on a Sunday
morning watching TV alone instead of helping your dad organizing his things or
having a nice chat with your mom makes you ... Show more content on

It s obvious then that you have started to appreciate everything you had back where
you belong.
The second main effect would be learning how to accept another type of society
and culture into your daily life. Since you are living in a place with different
customs and traditions from yours, you have to be able to develop yourself in
unknown conditions. This means making new friends, learning other points of view,
accepting different opinions and values, and seizing every opportunity you have to
go to new places. Therefore, you ll be able to achieve true knowledge. Suggesting to
change your mind totally or to be square minded would be foolish; the best thing to
do would be to stick to your most important values and, according to them, change
those that you believe could be improved.
The most significant effect of living away from home is the independent behavior
that grows inside of you. Living on your own far from your family gives you a lot
of experiences toward organizing your life. Since it is up to you and no one else to
go to school, clean your room, wash your clothes, and organize your expenses, it is
predictable that you will have a good and strong meaning of responsibility. Being
independent and responsible will help you get through life every goal you want to
achieve.
Living far from home, even for a short period of time, can be really hard at the
beginning. We have to remember that all changes are difficult, but they are
Understanding The Concept Of Global Health Development
In order to understand the concept of global health development, there are many
concepts to start with, such as different kinds of illness, diseases challenges our
health care system today, some groups of people still struggle for their treatment.
Global health is a global context with the goal of improves healthcare, reduce the
inequality to the access to health care. As mentioned, health consisted by different
kinds of concept. Two major category of health problem are physical health and
mental health. This paper will focus on the development of mental health care and
introduce the problems it has that exist in the society. Mental health is one of the
elements that play a significant role in global health. The major point has brought up
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start with the primary problem that mental health has, first is the fact that people
with mental disorders are not receiving equal health services as other people with
physical illness do have also been brought up as a social and health service issue.
Such issue relates to mental health also affect the health care system in the society.
Because is necessary for a society to promote its mental health service, as part of the
health system and there should no inequality of the treatment for mental health and
physical health.
Definition of Mental Health
It is important to define mental health first in order to understand its role in the
development of global health. The World Health Organization has given a
definition of a state of well being in which the individual realizes his or her own
abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productivity and
fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community (WHO 2001a,
1). As it means, mental health is the foundation for well being and effective
functioning for an individual and for a community (Herrman ect al. 13). The issues
of mental health exist in every society, and it has already become a global issue that
people should pay attention on. Even though there are differences in values across
countries, cultures, classes, and genders can appear to allow a consensus on a
definition (WHO 2001b), mental health still can be conceptualized without restricting

Rostow s Theory Of Economic Growth
Rostow s theory of economic growth (or Rostovian take off model), is historically
one of the major models of economic growth. Published in 1960 by American
economist Walt Whitman Rostow, the model dictates that economic growth occurs
in five stages of fluctuating time periods. The five stages include 1) the traditional
society, 2) the preconditions for take off, 3) the take off, 4) the drive to maturity, and
finally, 5) the age of mass production. The following definitions were established by
Walt Rostow in his book published in 1960, The Stages of Economic Growth. The
first stage, the traditional society, describes countries where the population is still
actively engaged in agricultural practises, therefore eliminating any time available to
undertake major economic and entrepreneurial risks. The technology and science in
use is also described as pre Newtonian . Examples of such societies include Medieval
Europe and Chinese dynasties. The second stage, preconditions for take off, is
explained as encompassing nations with a more stable political base. This stage was
clearly established in Western Europe in the late seventeenth century and early
eighteenth century, as scientific advancements and continued industrialisation had
aided agriculture and the capital market to thrive. The next stage is the actual take off
stage, where new industries appear and agriculture is being commercialised. Steady
growth is evident through the exploitation of natural resources, and savings
The Effects of Social Media on Teenagers
Some of the top benefits of social media over the years are that it is free to anyone,
the content can get out to resources virtually immediately, and it can be delivered
to a wide variety of people. For these reasons, communication through social media
has become an extremely accessible and convenient way to communicate. It is
also popular for those who need to be in contact with others. One example that
comes to mind is a teenager who goes away on a trip to visit a friend or family.
They can be hundreds of miles away but still talk to their parents as if they weren t.
Another example is a person who is shy and has a hard time making friends face to
face, social media sites are a great way to meet people and build relationships.
Social media plays a complex role in children s differentiation from parents. On the
one hand, social media make it very easy for adolescents to stay in minute by
minute touch with their peers. Yet, those same social media make it easy for
adolescents to stay in touch with parents (Wood, 1999, p. 313). It s inarguably one
of the fastest ways to reach a large number of people. In 2008, President elected
Obama won the election by using social media to get his political message across
and reach voters. During the campaign election, the Obama campaign had made 5
million friends on more than 15 social networking sites (3 million friends on
Facebook itself) (Tay, 2010, Positive effects of social media section, para. 2). Another

Weaknesses and vulnerabilities exist in policies becasuse of humans factor and poor

eras, and to get a better understanding of how some of them influenced in the grate
technologies we have today.
In the amazing era of the 1980s some of the most popular technologies were the

the way that the people thought of a smart phone and what it could do. Another
piece of technology that was developed in the 2000s was of course face book and
twitter, face book was first released and went active at the beginning of 2004 and
this was that popular that till this day it still has over 350 million users. Face book
is known as the one of the world s largest photo sharing site. Twitter is also another
social networking site that allows people to let other people know what they are
doing 24/7 and twitter was developed in march 2006 and was launched in July
2006 by Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams and stills receives 340 million tweets to this
very day. And these just three of the many technologies that helped shape today as we

Nuclear Testing Memo
The purpose for this memo is to address the recent nuclear weapon testing done by
Saudi Arabia. In the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) the
state Saudi Arabia acceded on October 3rd, 1988. With the current decision to run
nuclear weapon testing they have gone against this treaty they had previously agreed
upon. Due to concern in the past about nuclear weapons being purchased from
outside sources by Saudi Arabia we need to address the current problem caustically. I
propose a couple alternatives to redress this issue: (1) we hold off on sending military
troops into action, (2) get the current studies on the nuclear proliferationin that area,
and (3) address Saudi Arabia about the reasoning for sudden nuclear weapontesting.
The problem: Saudi Arabia had made the decision to run nuclear weapon testing in
their country because they believe it s a matter of national security. However this
action goes against the NPT which Saudi Arabia previously agreed upon.
Policy Recommendations:
1.We hold off on sending military troops into action. It has come to my attention that
Israel is demanding immediate sanctions against Saudi Arabia. We do need to

Nuclear proliferation in Saudi Arabia. Nuclear proliferation may could be inevitable
or good for the United States. This is all speculation and only a possibility that could
happen in the future. When looking at the current issue there is no evidence that
Saudi Arabia is a country of concern for nuclear proliferation. With this information I
believe we need to come up with possible sanctions other than war. Joseph Nye
would state that power is getting the outcomes you want. The United States has the
power already, and using that power to further influence how Saudi Arabia continues
after this issue will benefit us in the long run. France and the United Kingdom are
already trying to diffuse the issue. They are unsuccessful as of now and we could
have more influence than they have
Differences Between Red Bull And Monster Energy Drinks
It smelled horrible! Red bull and monster energy drinks. A combination that you
don t want to drink. I did an experiment call the effects of monster and redbull on an

monster and redbull to see if that would dissolve an m and m faster than water. Our

A Peasant’s Life
A Peasant s Life The peasant has always been looked upon as an object of pity, an
underclass citizen who worked to provide for the higher classes. A passage from
Pierce the Ploughman s Creed gives the perfect description of a day in the life of a
peasant: As I went by the way, weeping for sorrow, I saw a poor man hanging on to
the plough. His coat was of a coarse stuff which was called cary; his hood was full
of holes and his hair stuck out of it. As he trod the soil his toes stuck out of his worn
shoes with their thick soles; his hocks on all sides and he was all bedaubed with
muck as he followed the plough. He had two mittens, scantily made of rough stuff,
with worn out fingers and thick with muck. This man bemired himself in mud... Show

Behind each house was a garden or small plot of land. The common fields
surrounding the village were some distance away, divided into strips and separated
by twigs and pieces of unplowed land. Past the open fields was the waste, the
uncultivated land which provided grazing land for the cattle, sheep and pigs and also
fuel and timber for building.11 Bread was the staple item of the peasant diet. Eating
meat was either a rare or nonexistent occurrence. Peasants ate whatever they grew:
grains and a small percent of vegetables and potatoes. Barley and oats were made
into both food and drink for consuming. The good grains, the meat from the
animals, and the tasty fruits and vegetables went to either the lords or to the upper
classes.12 The peasant s housing was as basic as his diet. Most houses consisted of
two rooms, one for living and one for sleeping. The walls were constructed of clay
or straw supported by wooden frames. The roofs were thatched and animals were
free to wander in and out. The smells of animals, sweat and waste were anything but
pleasant and were more than plentiful.Water was gathered from an outside well or

Ratification Of The Emancipation Proclamation
In 1862, Abraham Lincoln formally recognized that he needed a clever tactic to
address the institution of slavery without either side thinking that he was favoring
one nation over the other. Lincoln knew that he needed to have a moderate strategy
because a more aggressive policy would alienate Border State Unionists and War
Democrats whose support he saw as essential to the Union war effort, according one
a class reading. However, after trying to negotiate with the Confederacy over the
course of several months, the president s only way to combat the division was to draft
the Emancipation Proclamation. The events leading up to the ratification and
enforcement of the Proclamation prove that freeing the slaves was a long, arduous
process that affected both sides (the Union and the Confederacy) in several ways over
the following years of the war. The most prominent effect of Lincoln passing the
Emancipation Proclamation was that it made the war about slavery. Though there
was much controversy in the first few months over what actually caused the Civil
War, ratifying and issuing the final Proclamation officially shifted the focus from
states right and the reach of the federal government to the race struggle between the
white and the enslaved. Almost instantly, the Emancipation Proclamation created a
deeper divide between the Union and the Confederacy. The Confederates assumed
that this was Lincoln s original war aim and attacked him with constant criticism and
disapproval.
Similarities Between The Simpsons And Family Guy
We ve all seen these adult animated sitcoms, or at least heard about them. But when
you think of the legends in this category you need look no further than Matt Groening
s classic The Simpsons, or the more recent twist Family Guy created by Seth
Macfarlane. The Simpsons and Family Guy are American comical cartoons that share
many similarities and differences. Although the two shows portray a dysfunctional
American family and have a similar way of delivering humor, they both contrast in
their targeted audience and characters.
The first and most noticeable resemblance is that The Simpsons and Family Guy s
humor can be indistinguishable in many ways. One of them being their sarcastic way
of portraying pop culture, politics, and ethnic or ... Show more content on

Firstly, The Simpsons humor is family oriented and aims to target different
generations. For instance, hidden insults and crude jokes that only older generations
would understand is not included in the show. Also, the Simpsons includes cultural
references that most of the present generations would comprehend, which means that
The Simpsons don t include too much current pop culture and media related that older
generations won t recognize. And even with the adult orientated content, the show is
suitable for the whole family to watch, even the young ones, though they won t grasp
some of the political and cultural jokes mentioned in the show.
Family Guy on the other hand does not target the whole family but the younger
generations of teenagers and young adults. Which is due to the use of crude jokes
and blue humor. Also, Family Guy uses current problems of the government, pop
culture and the media. And just exploit them with irony and sarcasm. What really
captured my attention is how the show became darker, more violent and mean
spirited in recent seasons, which seems like a desperate try to attract more childish
teenagers to the
Crime Is The Nature Of Crime
It is widely assumed that the media, particularly television, newspapers and the
internet, are primary sources of knowledge and understanding of crime issues in our
21st century modern society (Nguyen et. al, 2005). However, there is widespread
concern that the level and type of crime reported in the media produces an inaccurate
view of the reality of crimein the community (Fields Jerin, 1996; Windschuttle,
1988). The purpose of this essay is to address the question; is the nature of crime in
our society accurately presented in the media? To effectively provide an answer, a
discussion on public perceptions, crime statistics and the impact of crime reporting in
the media will commence. Following will be a conclusion that will state that the
nature of crime in our society is not accurately presented in the media.
There has been extensive research comparing the nature of crime in the media with
the nature of crime in reality with most evaluations concluding that the media greatly
distorts or misrepresents not only the nature of crime but also crime rates, typical
victims and typical offenders (Hayes and Prenzler, 2015). Often, this research draws
upon official crime statistics which have consistently shown that most crime is non
violent and not rising (Davis Dossetor, 2010) which is oppositional to the media s
portrayal (Garofalo, 1981). Even so, public perceptions continue to emanate a
reflection of the media s influence as Davis Dossetor (2010) highlight through a

Marie Sophie Germain was born in Rue Saint Denis, Paris, France, on April 1,
1776, in a wealthy Persian family. Ambroise Francois, her father, was a rich man
who was assumed to be a wealthy silk merchant, or a goldsmith. Ambroise was
elected as the representative of the bourgeoisie to Etats GГ©nГ©raux en 1789,
which had involved his daughter to witness many discussions with her father and his
peers. When she was 13, The French Revolution broke out. Enforcing her to remain

person to provide proof of Fermat s Last Theorem, that has been a struggle for
mathematicians for the past 200 years. That if xn + yn = zn, then neither x, y, nor z
can be a natural number if n is greater than 2, stated from Fermat s Last Theorem

this theorem. Successful from her work, she published her deeds in a supplement to
her acquaintance Adrien Marie Legendre s work ThГ©orie des nombres. (The

Examples Of Identity In Huckleberry Finn
The Hoax of Personalities In Mark Twain s the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
the true identity of an individual is questioned countless times between three
central characters. Along with identity, one s self pride can also be at task. The
inheritance of money, faking death, and the will to be free are at hand to become a
true successor in the journey northward. With help from the so called King and
Duke, their mission to Cairo is put more at risk rather than if Huck and Jim
remained alone. Before the trip even started, Huck had to escape the imprisonment
of his cruel and abusive father, Pap. Huck s idea of a good father was far from what
Pap was, a drunk. Pap had kidnapped him because he claimed Huck was more
advanced personally; he could read, write, and he had money Miss Watson gave
him. Huck s only chance of a life outside abuse was an escape. I took the axe and
smashed in the door I beat it and hacked it considerable, a doing it. I fetched the pig
in and took him back nearly to the table and hacked into his throat with the ax, and
laid him on the ground to bleed (Twain 25). In cases as such, faking death, or
fraudulency in general can be used for good. If escaping a bad life can get you into
a better one, many would say go for it, however; now that Huck is dead he must
cover up his identity to save his true self. In 2013, a film known as Identity Thief ,

What Is Augustine s Divided Line
Augustine s Divided Line
Augustine s contention that man cannot possibly come into truth by reason in his
temporal life constitutes his initial departure from the ancients, and results in the
need for an entirely new structuring of the relationship between man and the good. In
differentiating between the nature of God and man, Augustine argues that man s
nature unlike God s is corruptible, and is thus deprived of the light of eternal truth
(XI, 22) . This stands the thought of Plato on its head, since now no amount of
contemplation and argument will be capable of getting man closer to a truth that
exists on a plane that surpasses the reach of the human mind (XXI, 5). If reason is an
instrument as flawed as man himself, how, then, ... Show more content on

With this settled upon as the relationship between good and evil, God proceeded to
create man with a will primed towards obedience. He supplied [man] with an
abundance of all things...and had not burdened him with a large number of
oppressive and difficult precepts, but...had given him one very brief and easy
commandment to keep him in wholesome obedience (XIV, 15). Man is from the
beginning not created to seek knowledge through reason, as philosophy is a burden
to him in Paradise. Augustine does not take the modern view that the fall was
caused by the fatal flaw of curiosity in man, but rather, it is through a the irrational
passion of pride like the pride of Satan with an ambition like that of a tyrant, he
wished rather to gloat over subjects than be a subject himself that Adam and Eve
are compelled to eat the forbidden fruit (XIV, 11). Reason is thus given no role in the
story of Eden it is a battle between self will and God s will, with self will aligning
with vice as its cause in man, and God s will on the side of nature as its cause.
Augustine explains the origin of the evil will, or self will, as a result of man s will
having been created by God, but its falling away from its nature is due to its creation
out of nothing (XIV, 13). The will itself was not created out of God, and thus lacks His

EFFECT OF ROOM TEMPERATURE ON THE BURN RATE OF A CANDLE
BURNS
Have you ever wondered whether a candle burns more quickly on a hot day, than
on a cold day? Or is it the other way around? This science fair project was carried
out to compare how quickly a candle will burn at different room temperatures. The
experiment was done by measuring how much of a candle will melt in 30 minutes
when placed in an environment with surrounding temperatures of 20В°C, 25В°C and
30В°C.
Hypothesis
A candle in a colder room will burn more slowly.

Candles

power failures. Candles are also used to create a romantic setting at restaurants. Most

For this science fair project, the independent variable is the temperature of the
room, i.e. 20В°C, 25В°C and 30В°C. The dependent variable is the length of the
candle after it has burned for 30 minutes. This is determined by measuring the length
of each candle with a ruler before it is lit and after it has burned for 30 minutes. The
constants (control variables) are the type and length of the candle, the diameter of the
candle and the time the candle is allowed to burn.
2. Using the ruler and caliper, the length and the diameter of the 15 candles are
measured for consistency. If the measurement of a candle deviates by more than 1
millimeter from the average, have that candle replaced. All 15 chosen candles are
labeled as A1 to A5 , B1 to B 5 and C1 to C5 respectively. The length of the 15
candles is measured and recorded.
3. The air conditioner in the room is switched on and the room is left to is cool,
until the room temperature measures 20В°C. The temperature of the room is
verified with the thermometer. The candles marked A1 to A5 are lit in the room and
the stopwatch is started. Ensure that windows are closed and the candles are not
placed anywhere near the air conditioner blower (avoid drafts). After 30 minutes, the
flames on the candles are extinguished and the length of each candle is measured
again with a ruler. The reduction in candle length is calculated and recorded in the

Examples of Emergency Management
Emergency management is the process of preparing for and responding to disasters.
Disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, and floods cannot be
prevented, but there are ways that you can prepare for them in case it happens. In an
event of an emergency or crisis, God offers us instructions on biblical survival
planning. This involves trusting him to protect you and guide you. I want to use the

Stripped Wom Restrictions On The Female Body
Stripped Woman Restrictions on the female body Bram Stoker in Dracula imagens a

whore of a demon. A misogynistic attitude is popular in a patriarchal society
especially in the middle of the nineteenth century. On the other hand, Mina although
is praised; Stoker unconsciously ties in her behavior that may resemble a womanof
propriety she is the very bane of what a progressive woman looks like when
looking at her through a gynocritics lens. To prepare the reader for the ideology of
the new and proper woman, Stoker gives Dr. Steward and Van Helsing separate
spheres from that of Lucy s and Mina s Character. In chapter fifteen, they are now
experts in the dealings and explanation of Lucy the human and Lucy the Un Dead.
As we read the chapters sixteen and seventeen it is preconditioned for us to follow
the ways they are dealing with Lucy. It is justifiable to call her a voluptuous lipped
thing without a soul. Their credibility as learned men allow for them to penetrate a
woman for the sake of her soul so she can take her place amongst angels. A woman in
the nineteenth century is synonymous to the term Angel. Doing anything that is non
Angelic, like the suffragettes places the women to be the binary opposition to Angel;
Demon. The proper woman is demonstrated with terminology such as; purity,
sweetness, and dainty looking (Dracula211) (220). The interpretation would be

Orbital Atherectomy
There are many new technologies and advancements within the cardiovascular
community. These technologies and advancements happen frequently and are to help
better the equipment for better outcomes for patients treated. One of the new
technologies that has made great strides is the orbital atherectomy. Orbital
atherectomy is a technology created by a company called Cardiovascular Systems
Inc. (CSI). What the new device does is make it easier and safer for balloon and
stent administration within a heavily calcified vessel. The ORBIT is a new
instrument used during a catheterization procedure that can break up calcified plaque.

The speed and energy formed from this device grinds and demolishes the calcium
1,2 in the walls of the artery. Heavily calcified vessels come from and are
associated with coronary artery disease which affects more people than people
expect. When a patient comes into the lab to get their coronary arteries checked
due to symptoms that prevented them from continuing out daily life activities
sometimes the result can be detrimental. All of the major arteries within the heart
can be heavily calcified and diseased. Most of the time these patients are sent for
bypass surgery or receive a high risk intervention. Due to orbital atherectomy or
CSI, the patients now can be helped immensely. The device will grind away at the
plaque using a diamond tip converting them into tiny particles that are smaller
2than a red blood cell. This not only helps eliminate the amount of calcium and
plaque within the artery, but also helps the doctor be able to slide a balloon or
stent in more easily. Ballooning the calcium or plaque can help open up the vessel
to slide a stent, but it is not always recommended due to risk of dissection.
Rotational atherectomy will work more efficiently in reducing the vessels diameter
to help 3move a balloon and stent in place. Research done on the efficacy in treating
coronary lesions using the orbital atherectomy has been shown to improve stent
placement and has a success 4rate of 97.7 to 98.6 % . Overall, the research showed
that the Orbital has meet and exceeded both the safety and efficacy of calcified
plaque removal. This number represents a high success rate of intervention or
stenting post orbital atherectomy. This means that it is scientifically proven that
orbital atherectomy works to lessen the diameter of the vessel due to calcium to help
for a better and more efficient stent

Toronto Road Safety Epidemic
The Toronto Road Safety Commission understands the growing safety epidemic
on the streets of Toronto. The safety of all citizens is our top priority. The problem
is not being fully addressed and the citizens of the city are at risk. Road traffic
injuries put a threat on public health and deserve attention now. On average there
is more than one pedestrian death a week. In the first 15 days of 2018 there have
been seven deaths related to the road. This puts the city at a 250% increase since
last year (Toronto Star). Cycle Toronto executive director Jared Kolb reports that
there is a pedestrian hit every three hours and a cyclist hit every six hours. Those
who are the most vulnerable in the city are seeing the most impact from the crisis

After these factors are understood it is important to mention that road safety is
everyone s responsibility. The target groups of Toronto must be understood to get

pedestrians cyclists, older adults, motorcyclists, school children and teachers to
create safe school zones. By implementing change within these groups we can
create change and make a difference on the streets of Toronto. It should be

People may believe that the Bunker Hill Monument is a simple representation of an

more to it than some may believe. The actions that took place on June 17, 1775

Summary Of Saturn Devouring His Son
The devastatingly gruesome painting of Saturn Devouring His Son by Francisco de
Goya surprisingly has more connection to the nursing world than what first meets
the eye. Created between 1819 through 1823, the painting s legend stems from
Greek mythology (Goya, 1970). Saturn, also known as Cronus, was the almighty
Greek titan who had come to power by taking over his father before him. Saturn
feared his children would one day try to overcome him so he devoured them all. The
legend goes on to tell how one of his sons Zeus survived to one day free his other
siblings. This disturbing legend and painting connects to nurses bullyingeach other.
This dark aspect of nursing needs to be brought to the light and only then can change
be made. Jay Scott Morgan s interpretation of the painting focuses in on the
relationship of Saturn and his son. The painting Saturn Devouring His Sonwas once
seen as a symbol of evil, a Satan, a monster (Morgan). Morgan chose to focus on
the relationships of the son and the father rather than the evil image of Saturn. He
made the connection to Goya s twisted relationship with his son and Goya s
painting; revealing jealousy is what causes a father to hate his son. Morgan
interprets the painting as a story of fathers and sons (Morgan, n.d). He even makes
connections to other western tales such as Abraham agreeing to his son to be
sacrificed on Mount Moriah to depict the father son struggle. In both stories the father
ends his son s life, whether
Depression In William Wordsworth
I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be
suffering from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is
highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has
experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality.
However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the
past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile
that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and
hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience
melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression
as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime
joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or
depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain
which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the
imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the
importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also
seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr.
William Wordsworth, often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on
nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments
that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Mr. John
`` Two Kinds By Amy Tan
Two Kinds by Amy Tan is a story that shows a battle that starts with the narrator and
her mother, for control over the narrator s life. Her mother wanted her to become a
prodigy, but she wanted to be anything other than that. So, throughout the short
story Two Kinds she s determined to not quit the fight. Two Kinds is filled with
different forms of conflict which allows for the narrator to realize that her mother s
crazy antics were to help her find what she was good at. Which leads to the narrator
facing twoness until her mother is no longer Twoness is the fact or condition of
being two, duality, doubleness (Oxford Dictionary). Also known as duality which is

Yet she didn t see the idea of being able to become anything, and that s because she
was raised in America. From her being raised in America the perception of being
anything you wanted to be wasn t huge in her mind due her not experiencing a form
of tragedy or struggle to allow her to see that with time and effort anything is possible.
A second indication was her battle with herself and the idea of being anything. To
achieve success at the highest level for which she is capable gave her the feeling of
striving for perfection. Sometimes the prodigy in me became impatient. If you don t
hurry up and get me out of here, I m disappearing for good, it warned. And then you
ll always be nothing (130). The narrator s thought of being nothing based on how her
mother was raising her projected the idea of being a disappointment, due to her
mother pushing for a prodigy to emerge from within her and becoming a person
worth wanting to be. The idea of no achievement made it harder for her as she grew
up, due to the extensive test her mother would give her during dinner. One night I
had to look at the Bible for three minutes and then report everything I could
remember. Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance and...that s all I
remember, Ma. I said. And after seeing, once again, my mother s disappointed face,
something inside me began to die (130). Having the thought of failing in the eyes of
her mother made it harder for her to look at herself.
A Successful Reintegration Of A Rehabilitated Offender
This essay will explore the factors that take a key play in a successful Reintegration
of a rehabilitated offender. To have a successful reentry the offender is offered thru
their Correctional Facility the following: Employment, Family Support, Financial
Stability, Involvement in substance abuse programs, and Stabilization of any mental
illness. Through discussion I will explain the pros and cons those rehabilitated face
when re entering society.
Reintegration is offered to those individuals who are offered Parole. As we all know
Parole is the conditional release of a person prior to the end of the maximum
sentence impose ( Parole | Define Parole at Dictionary.com, n.d.). The parole
system is used to reward well behaved inmates who shows signs of rehabilitation,
and for those who show signs that they can practice good behavior when socializing
and interacting out in society. To achieve parole status you can involve yourself in
programs offered by institution where you are serving out your time. Such programs
include obtaining a GED, being of trustee status which means you are an inmate that
shows capability of cleaning up after others; your peers. In order for Parolees to have
a successful integration On April 9, 2008, the Second Chance Act was signed into
law. The purpose of this act was to improve outcomes for people returning to
communities from prisons, jails, and juvenile s detention facilities. This federal
legislation authorizes grant money to government and
Surrealism Of The Temptation Of Saint Anthony Essay
During the period between World War I and World War II, many people decided
that rationale had created the destruction left behind from the war and that it was
time to rely on the subconscious as a way to analyze the world. These people
became known as Surrealists. One of the most famous surrealist artists was Salvador
DalГ. DalГ s piece The Temptation of SaintAnthonyis a prime example of Surrealism.
Surrealist paintings are described as dreamlike and fantastical. Much of DalГ s
paintings were images he had dreamed up. He said that he would paint what almost
seem like photographs from his dreams. DalГ took Sigmund Freud s idea that dreams
are symbolic. Objects can symbolize something as well as take on a pun on the word.

The last elephant carries another tower that symbolizes a phallic figure. It is said that
the long legs of horse and elephants symbolize levitation and nearness to heaven.
However, the thinness of the legs could also symbolize weak legs holding up the
elephants and horse, weakly holding up the resistance to temptation. The woman on
the Cup of Desire and inside the temple are said to be reincarnated devils.
DalГ s surrealist The Temptation of Saint Anthony combines ideas and images that
are not possible in the physical world. Looking at the painting, the objects would
make no sense. However, if interpreted like people often interpret dreams, The
Temptation of Saint Anthony shows the story of the devil luring Saint Anthony.
Because these images are only possible in the subconscious, they are considered
surrealist.

The Islamic Storming Of Spain
The Islamic storming of Spain was a tempestuous and conflicted time in history.
Today it is often portrayed by historians as a battle of good versus evil; a forfeiting
of an ebullient culture that diminished at the hand of Abd Al Raḥmān s Muslim
led army that began infiltrating Spain from North Africa in AD 711. However, what
ensued thereafter was a convergence of great knowledge, trade innovation, and
hydraulic technology that had not existed in the region before Islamic arrival. The
idealistic garden of paradise came closer to reality with the rich climatic environment
of Spainand the fabric of knowledge handed down from the Islamic world of the
Moors. Upon the arrival of the Moors, who were essentially Muslims from North

Most of Europe, especially that of which was under Christian rule, was very skeptical
of pagan texts of the ancient Greeks and Romans and never came to study these
writings due to discrimination. Muslims, however, did not ignore these valuable
teachings and strove to find new knowledge within other cultures and societies. Much
of Greek knowledge stems from the ancient Egyptians, the bulk of it being preserved
at the Library of Alexandria. During the Muslim occupation of Alexandria, they had
direct access to this elusive bank of knowledge and translated large amounts of books
into Arabic, including the bible. From this, Islamic society tapped into a great
understanding of the world around them and eventually brought this rich knowledge
with them to the al Andalus. Among theses teachings, Muslims had a great
understanding of irrigation and hydraulic systems passed on from the Phoenicians,
Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians, which would become a great asset to their success
in agriculture, landscaping, and gardening in Spain ( Al Andalus History ). Virtually
barren lands of the Iberian Peninsula became flourishing centers of agriculture
through the implementation of hydraulic and irrigation technology of the Muslims,
thus bringing great wealth and power to the region through trade. Plants including
palm trees, citrus, avocado, and pomegranate, none of which had been seen in Europe
before, became bountiful in al Andalus
Carbohydrates Research Paper
Bradie Anderson Carbohydrates are the main energy source. Without carbs, the
body could not function in the ways that they should. Sources of carbs include
fruits, breads and grains, vegetables and sugars. You should try and make at least
half of the grains you consume whole grains. Whole grains and fruit are full of
fiber, which reduces the risk of heart disease and helps keep normal blood glucose
levels. Protein is responsible for the building and repair of body tissues. Protein is
broken down into amino acids, which are used as building blocks of protein. Nine
of the 20 amino acids, essential amino acids, must be put into your diet because they
cant blend in the body. Ten to 35 percent of your daily calories should come from
protein sources such as meat, dairy, beans or eggs. Fatis an energy source that when it

The 2010 Dietary Guidelines was designed to help people choose a healthy diet.
There are three things we are supposed to go by. The first one being, balance
calories with physical activity to manage weight. Next, consume more of certain
foods and nutrients such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fat free and low fat
dairy products, and seafood. Last, consume fewer foods with sodium (salt), saturated
fats, trans fats, cholesterol, added sugars, and refined grains. Thinking over these
and taking them into concert ion I ve decided it is time to choose a more healthy
lifestyle. I usually eat all kinds of junk food and fast food all the time. Now that I ve
learned the true risks of doing so, I m going to make more healthful eating habits for
myself. Also another thing I am willing to at least try is to start working about to help

Examples Of Characters In Percival Everett s Short Story...
Percival Everett s collection of short stories Half an Inch of Water has many
examples of characters create distractions to avoid dealing with the obstacles they

It s not until they experience a trauma together that their relationship begins to
mend itself. When Benjamin finally musters the courage to force his daughter to

towards her father and how he treated her mother who is no longer in the picture.
Benjamin even admits that he didn t treat her well and that he could have done
better. There is a legitimate fault on both sides. Benjamin s behavior towards his ex

  • 2. Essay Reconciling the Cuban Embargo Heading the wrong way made Douglas Wrong Way Corrigan famous. When he filed his flight plan to fly from New York to California and wound up in Ireland there was much celebrity and very little downside for him. The US, may not be as lucky with our embargo policy towards Cuba. A policy that may have a major impact on the US, both domestically and internationally, is truly only actively discussed in the swing state of Florida. Is the US heading in the wrong direction with this policy? Certainly the author thinks so, and if he s right it s not likely that we ll receive a ticker tape parade at the end of journey like Corrigan did. Alex Lightman walks us through 78 reasons to end the embargo of Cuba. He does this by stating a reason and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the maon body of the book, Lightman breaks his reasons into five general categories; General, Political, Economic, Humanitarian and Fair Compensation. Some of these reasons overlap or are highly intermingled so seeing each point separately may be difficult from time to time. General Lightmans general reasons are a small collection of statements that seem not to fit anywhere else in the treatise. Those in the business world will recognize that the focus here is on effective goal setting. He educates the reader on the SMART technique and details why the Cuban embargo fails to be a SMART goal. Then, looking from the other perspective, he evaluates the goal in terms of the results obtained. Now he questions since the goal has not been met, is it appropriate to continue down the same well worn path. Further to this point, he posits that for the US to advocate regime change in another nation is not an ethical goal to pursue in the first place. The section closes out by arguing that the real beneficiaries of the embargo are people and entities that the American people would never want to benefit in the first place. His list of beneficiaries includes the Castro brothers, which would shock any idealistically minded pro embargo supporter. Political The vast amount of the book is spent covering the political reasons why the embargo should be ended. This section

To the educated, an aircraft propeller represents the highest sophistication in aerodynamics, mechanical engineering and structural design. This report will touch on the history of the propeller, from early pioneers/experiments, advancement during /after the war, all the way up to current applications of the propeller. The creation of the propeller can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci s helical screw helicopter is believed to be the ancestor of the air propeller and the helicopter rotor. This dilemma made designing the propeller one of the Wright brothers most challenging problems. Despite the lack of previous information to consult, the brothers were able to learn, through investigation and trial/error, that large propeller diameters would produce high thrust for a given power input. The brothers also determined that high torque produced by large, slow turning blades adversely affected the flying qualities (p factor). On their first aircraft, they utilized 8 ВЅ ft propellers installed behind the wind to minimize airflow disturbance, incorporated counter rotating propellers to eliminate the problems associated with torque, and gained thrust efficiency by reducing the blades rotational speed using a chain and sprocket transmission. The Wright brother s propeller was 66% efficient which was much higher that any other propeller of the time. The foundations of a disciplined approach to propeller design evolved soon thereafter. With the advancements and refinements made by early inventors, engineers could use those test results to design propellers with better performance and structural reliability. These advancements led to the development of the first generation of well designed propellers. One of the first designs was the Integrale , developed by Lucien Chauviere, the world s first industry standard propeller manufacturer. By 1910, the number of propeller producers multiplied, and numerous

Biological anthropologist conduct research, and form techniques of modern molecular biology to learn about human variation and how it relates to different environment humans lived in as well as their conditions. Genetics is the study of heredity and variation in living organisms. biological Anthropology looks at how biological traits from one generation to the next get passed along. The article describes gene therapy and human genetic engineering as an evolution indicating that by allowing tools such as gene therapy we underestimate the amount of influence it may have on our species. The gene therapy has helped human species develop and understand more about viruses and and certain diseases that have developed and evolved throughout evolution. Genetics also helps understand what humans have in common and what distinctive from other species. Biological adaptations is the process in which humans, as both individuals and groups, develop biological characteristics that relate to environmental conditions

The major effect, and also a very common one, is that once you start a regular life away from home, you miss everything. This fact doesn t mean that you are unhappy but that you are aware of being on your own. Missing your family and the attention they all paid to you is a very usual thing to do. The second main effect would be learning how to accept another type of society and culture into your daily life. Since you are living in a place with different customs and traditions from yours, you have to be able to develop yourself in unknown conditions. This means making new friends, learning other points of view, accepting different opinions and values, and seizing every opportunity you have to go to new places. Therefore, you ll be able to achieve true knowledge. Suggesting to change your mind totally or to be square minded would be foolish; the best thing to do would be to stick to your most important values and, according to them, change those that you believe could be improved. The most significant effect of living away from home is the independent behavior that grows inside of you. Living on your own far from your family gives you a lot of experiences toward organizing your life. Since it is up to you and no one else to go to school, clean your room, wash your clothes, and organize your expenses, it is predictable that you will have a good and strong meaning of responsibility. Being independent and responsible will help you get through life every goal you want to achieve. Living far from home, even for a short period of time, can be really hard at the beginning. We have to remember that all changes are difficult, but they are

  • 17. Rostow s Theory Of Economic Growth Rostow s theory of economic growth (or Rostovian take off model), is historically one of the major models of economic growth. Published in 1960 by American economist Walt Whitman Rostow, the model dictates that economic growth occurs in five stages of fluctuating time periods. The five stages include 1) the traditional society, 2) the preconditions for take off, 3) the take off, 4) the drive to maturity, and finally, 5) the age of mass production. The following definitions were established by Walt Rostow in his book published in 1960, The Stages of Economic Growth. The first stage, the traditional society, describes countries where the population is still actively engaged in agricultural practises, therefore eliminating any time available to undertake major economic and entrepreneurial risks. The technology and science in use is also described as pre Newtonian . Examples of such societies include Medieval Europe and Chinese dynasties. The second stage, preconditions for take off, is explained as encompassing nations with a more stable political base. This stage was clearly established in Western Europe in the late seventeenth century and early eighteenth century, as scientific advancements and continued industrialisation had aided agriculture and the capital market to thrive. The next stage is the actual take off stage, where new industries appear and agriculture is being commercialised. Steady growth is evident through the exploitation of natural resources, and savings

The Effects of Social Media on Teenagers Some of the top benefits of social media over the years are that it is free to anyone, the content can get out to resources virtually immediately, and it can be delivered to a wide variety of people. For these reasons, communication through social media has become an extremely accessible and convenient way to communicate. It is also popular for those who need to be in contact with others. One example that comes to mind is a teenager who goes away on a trip to visit a friend or family. They can be hundreds of miles away but still talk to their parents as if they weren t. Another example is a person who is shy and has a hard time making friends face to face, social media sites are a great way to meet people and build relationships. Social media plays a complex role in children s differentiation from parents. On the one hand, social media make it very easy for adolescents to stay in minute by minute touch with their peers. Yet, those same social media make it easy for adolescents to stay in touch with parents (Wood, 1999, p. 313). It s inarguably one of the fastest ways to reach a large number of people. Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry, machinery and devices developed from scientific knowledge. The eras that I will cover are the 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s. I have chosen these eras because I would like to learn about some of the technologies while I m researching for technologyin these eras, and to get a better understanding of how some of them influenced in the grate technologies we have today. In the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) the state Saudi Arabia acceded on October 3rd, 1988. With the current decision to run nuclear weapon testing they have gone against this treaty they had previously agreed upon. Due to concern in the past about nuclear weapons being purchased from outside sources by Saudi Arabia we need to address the current problem caustically. I propose a couple alternatives to redress this issue: (1) we hold off on sending military troops into action, (2) get the current studies on the nuclear proliferationin that area, and (3) address Saudi Arabia about the reasoning for sudden nuclear weapontesting. The problem: Saudi Arabia had made the decision to run nuclear weapon testing in their country because they believe it s a matter of national security. A passage from Pierce the Ploughman s Creed gives the perfect description of a day in the life of a peasant: As I went by the way, weeping for sorrow, I saw a poor man hanging on to the plough. His coat was of a coarse stuff which was called cary; his hood was full of holes and his hair stuck out of it. As he trod the soil his toes stuck out of his worn shoes with their thick soles; his hocks on all sides and he was all bedaubed with muck as he followed the plough. Ratification Of The Emancipation Proclamation In 1862, Abraham Lincoln formally recognized that he needed a clever tactic to address the institution of slavery without either side thinking that he was favoring one nation over the other. Lincoln knew that he needed to have a moderate strategy because a more aggressive policy would alienate Border State Unionists and War Democrats whose support he saw as essential to the Union war effort, according one a class reading. However, after trying to negotiate with the Confederacy over the course of several months, the president s only way to combat the division was to draft the Emancipation Proclamation. The events leading up to the ratification and enforcement of the Proclamation prove that freeing the slaves was a long, arduous process that affected both sides (the Union and the Confederacy) in several ways over the following years of the war. The most prominent effect of Lincoln passing the Emancipation Proclamation was that it made the war about slavery. Though there was much controversy in the first few months over what actually caused the Civil War, ratifying and issuing the final Proclamation officially shifted the focus from states right and the reach of the federal government to the race struggle between the white and the enslaved. Almost instantly, the Emancipation Proclamation created a deeper divide between the Union and the Confederacy. The Confederates assumed that this was Lincoln s original war aim and attacked him with constant criticism and disapproval.

Crime Is The Nature Of Crime It is widely assumed that the media, particularly television, newspapers and the internet, are primary sources of knowledge and understanding of crime issues in our 21st century modern society (Nguyen et. al, 2005). However, there is widespread concern that the level and type of crime reported in the media produces an inaccurate view of the reality of crimein the community (Fields Jerin, 1996; Windschuttle, 1988). The purpose of this essay is to address the question; is the nature of crime in our society accurately presented in the media? To effectively provide an answer, a discussion on public perceptions, crime statistics and the impact of crime reporting in the media will commence. Following will be a conclusion that will state that the nature of crime in our society is not accurately presented in the media. There has been extensive research comparing the nature of crime in the media with the nature of crime in reality with most evaluations concluding that the media greatly distorts or misrepresents not only the nature of crime but also crime rates, typical victims and typical offenders (Hayes and Prenzler, 2015). Often, this research draws upon official crime statistics which have consistently shown that most crime is non violent and not rising (Davis Dossetor, 2010) which is oppositional to the media s portrayal (Garofalo, 1981). Even so, public perceptions continue to emanate a reflection of the media s influence as Davis Dossetor (2010) highlight through a

With help from the so called King and Duke, their mission to Cairo is put more at risk rather than if Huck and Jim remained alone. Before the trip even started, Huck had to escape the imprisonment of his cruel and abusive father, Pap. Huck s idea of a good father was far from what Pap was, a drunk. • 30. What Is Augustine s Divided Line Augustine s Divided Line Augustine s contention that man cannot possibly come into truth by reason in his temporal life constitutes his initial departure from the ancients, and results in the need for an entirely new structuring of the relationship between man and the good. In differentiating between the nature of God and man, Augustine argues that man s nature unlike God s is corruptible, and is thus deprived of the light of eternal truth (XI, 22) . This stands the thought of Plato on its head, since now no amount of contemplation and argument will be capable of getting man closer to a truth that exists on a plane that surpasses the reach of the human mind (XXI, 5). He supplied [man] with an abundance of all things...and had not burdened him with a large number of oppressive and difficult precepts, but...had given him one very brief and easy commandment to keep him in wholesome obedience (XIV, 15). Man is from the beginning not created to seek knowledge through reason, as philosophy is a burden to him in Paradise. Augustine does not take the modern view that the fall was caused by the fatal flaw of curiosity in man, but rather, it is through a the irrational passion of pride like the pride of Satan with an ambition like that of a tyrant, he wished rather to gloat over subjects than be a subject himself that Adam and Eve are compelled to eat the forbidden fruit (XIV, 11). Reason is thus given no role in the story of Eden it is a battle between self will and God s will, with self will aligning with vice as its cause in man, and God s will on the side of nature as its cause. Augustine explains the origin of the evil will, or self will, as a result of man s will having been created by God, but its falling away from its nature is due to its creation out of nothing (XIV, 13). The will itself was not created out of God, and thus lacks His

For this science fair project, the independent variable is the temperature of the room, i.e. 20В°C, 25В°C and 30В°C. The dependent variable is the length of the candle after it has burned for 30 minutes. This is determined by measuring the length of each candle with a ruler before it is lit and after it has burned for 30 minutes. The constants (control variables) are the type and length of the candle, the diameter of the candle and the time the candle is allowed to burn. 2. Using the ruler and caliper, the length and the diameter of the 15 candles are measured for consistency. If the measurement of a candle deviates by more than 1 millimeter from the average, have that candle replaced. All 15 chosen candles are labeled as A1 to A5 , B1 to B 5 and C1 to C5 respectively. The speed and energy formed from this device grinds and demolishes the calcium 1,2 in the walls of the artery. Heavily calcified vessels come from and are associated with coronary artery disease which affects more people than people expect. When a patient comes into the lab to get their coronary arteries checked due to symptoms that prevented them from continuing out daily life activities sometimes the result can be detrimental. All of the major arteries within the heart can be heavily calcified and diseased. Most of the time these patients are sent for bypass surgery or receive a high risk intervention. Due to orbital atherectomy or CSI, the patients now can be helped immensely. The device will grind away at the plaque using a diamond tip converting them into tiny particles that are smaller 2than a red blood cell. This not only helps eliminate the amount of calcium and plaque within the artery, but also helps the doctor be able to slide a balloon or stent in more easily. Ballooning the calcium or plaque can help open up the vessel to slide a stent, but it is not always recommended due to risk of dissection. Rotational atherectomy will work more efficiently in reducing the vessels diameter to help 3move a balloon and stent in place. Research done on the efficacy in treating coronary lesions using the orbital atherectomy has been shown to improve stent placement and has a success 4rate of 97.7 to 98.6 % . Overall, the research showed that the Orbital has meet and exceeded both the safety and efficacy of calcified plaque removal. This number represents a high success rate of intervention or stenting post orbital atherectomy. This means that it is scientifically proven that orbital atherectomy works to lessen the diameter of the vessel due to calcium to help for a better and more efficient stent

  • 39. Summary Of Saturn Devouring His Son The devastatingly gruesome painting of Saturn Devouring His Son by Francisco de Goya surprisingly has more connection to the nursing world than what first meets the eye. Created between 1819 through 1823, the painting s legend stems from Greek mythology (Goya, 1970). Saturn, also known as Cronus, was the almighty Greek titan who had come to power by taking over his father before him. Saturn feared his children would one day try to overcome him so he devoured them all. The legend goes on to tell how one of his sons Zeus survived to one day free his other siblings. This disturbing legend and painting connects to nurses bullyingeach other. This dark aspect of nursing needs to be brought to the light and only then can change be made. Jay Scott Morgan s interpretation of the painting focuses in on the relationship of Saturn and his son. The painting Saturn Devouring His Sonwas once seen as a symbol of evil, a Satan, a monster (Morgan). Morgan chose to focus on the relationships of the son and the father rather than the evil image of Saturn. He made the connection to Goya s twisted relationship with his son and Goya s painting; revealing jealousy is what causes a father to hate his son. Morgan interprets the painting as a story of fathers and sons (Morgan, n.d). He even makes connections to other western tales such as Abraham agreeing to his son to be sacrificed on Mount Moriah to depict the father son struggle. In both stories the father ends his son s life, whether
  • 40. Depression In William Wordsworth I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth, often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Yet she didn t see the idea of being able to become anything, and that s because she was raised in America. From her being raised in America the perception of being anything you wanted to be wasn t huge in her mind due her not experiencing a form of tragedy or struggle to allow her to see that with time and effort anything is possible. A second indication was her battle with herself and the idea of being anything. To achieve success at the highest level for which she is capable gave her the feeling of striving for perfection. Sometimes the prodigy in me became impatient. If you don t hurry up and get me out of here, I m disappearing for good, it warned. And then you ll always be nothing (130). The narrator s thought of being nothing based on how her mother was raising her projected the idea of being a disappointment, due to her mother pushing for a prodigy to emerge from within her and becoming a person worth wanting to be. The idea of no achievement made it harder for her as she grew up, due to the extensive test her mother would give her during dinner. One night I had to look at the Bible for three minutes and then report everything I could remember. Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance and...that s all I remember, Ma. I said. And after seeing, once again, my mother s disappointed face, something inside me began to die (130). Having the thought of failing in the eyes of her mother made it harder for her to look at herself.

Surrealism Of The Temptation Of Saint Anthony Essay During the period between World War I and World War II, many people decided that rationale had created the destruction left behind from the war and that it was time to rely on the subconscious as a way to analyze the world. These people became known as Surrealists. One of the most famous surrealist artists was Salvador DalГ. DalГ s piece The Temptation of SaintAnthonyis a prime example of Surrealism. Surrealist paintings are described as dreamlike and fantastical. Much of DalГ s paintings were images he had dreamed up. He said that he would paint what almost seem like photographs from his dreams. The last elephant carries another tower that symbolizes a phallic figure. It is said that the long legs of horse and elephants symbolize levitation and nearness to heaven. The woman on the Cup of Desire and inside the temple are said to be reincarnated devils. DalГ s surrealist The Temptation of Saint Anthony combines ideas and images that are not possible in the physical world. Looking at the painting, the objects would make no sense. However, if interpreted like people often interpret dreams, The Temptation of Saint Anthony shows the story of the devil luring Saint Anthony. Because these images are only possible in the subconscious, they are considered surrealist. Works Cited Forbs, Jill and Michael Kelly. French Cultural Studies. • 44. The Islamic Storming Of Spain The Islamic storming of Spain was a tempestuous and conflicted time in history. Today it is often portrayed by historians as a battle of good versus evil; a forfeiting of an ebullient culture that diminished at the hand of Abd Al RaḥmДЃn s Muslim led army that began infiltrating Spain from North Africa in AD 711. However, what ensued thereafter was a convergence of great knowledge, trade innovation, and hydraulic technology that had not existed in the region before Islamic arrival. Most of Europe, especially that of which was under Christian rule, was very skeptical of pagan texts of the ancient Greeks and Romans and never came to study these writings due to discrimination. Muslims, however, did not ignore these valuable teachings and strove to find new knowledge within other cultures and societies. Much of Greek knowledge stems from the ancient Egyptians, the bulk of it being preserved at the Library of Alexandria. During the Muslim occupation of Alexandria, they had direct access to this elusive bank of knowledge and translated large amounts of books into Arabic, including the bible. From this, Islamic society tapped into a great understanding of the world around them and eventually brought this rich knowledge with them to the al Andalus. Among theses teachings, Muslims had a great understanding of irrigation and hydraulic systems passed on from the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians, which would become a great asset to their success in agriculture, landscaping, and gardening in Spain ( Al Andalus History ). Virtually barren lands of the Iberian Peninsula became flourishing centers of agriculture through the implementation of hydraulic and irrigation technology of the Muslims, thus bringing great wealth and power to the region through trade. Plants including palm trees, citrus, avocado, and pomegranate, none of which had been seen in Europe before, became bountiful in al Andalus
