as a serious drama typically describing a conflict between the protagonist and a
superior force, such as destiny, and having a sorrowful or disastrous conclusion that
elicits pity or terror. Two such examples of literary tragedies are Oedipusthe King by
Sophocles and Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. Although written over 2000
years apart, there are many similarities between the two literary works, but with
varying degrees of differences as well. Some of the key areas to be examined when
making this comparison are: the social status of the main characters, the
psychological mindsets the characters are in, their respective lack of self
awareness, whether their fate was deserved or not, and the main fatal flaw of each
main character. Let s begin by first examining the social status of the two main
characters from each literary selection. In Oedipus the King by Sophocles, the
main character is, of course, Oedipus. As the story unfolds, we find that Oedipus

The experiment is to examine the amount of Vitamin C present in orange using fresh
fruit and preserved juice. DCPIP colour indicator is used to verify the variations in
the vitamin C. (BBC, 2006).
AIM
The aim of this research project is to determine the level of vitamin C present in
various fruit juices, based on the ways that the fruit has been preserved. This includes
freshly squeezed organic orange juice, innocent organic orange juice, budget from
concentrate orange juice and high budget from concentrate. Results from this
research will then be compared to the guidelines recommended on fruit packages as to
whether the recommended guidelines match the results. Lastly, we will determine the
quality of vitamin c in the different sources and how they vary from high end quality
to budget.

Although they are different they both explored new topics. Walt Whitmans Song of

My Service Learning Hours At Asarese Matters Community
Center
This spring semester I had the privilege of completing my service learning hours at
Asarese Matters Community Center. I chose to conduct my hours of service at this
site because I felt like I could relate to the kids that are experiencing a life of poverty
with limited mobility opportunities. Most my time spent there I interacted with a
majority of the kids through basketballand competitive activities like billiards, ping
pong and talking sports. While observing relationships and interactions between staff
and youth that attend the community center I noticed the important role that sport
and education played in the life of the children. Using my sociological imagination,
I would like to explore the role of sport and the interactions and behaviors that takes
place during competitive situations, also the role of education and the kids
perception on going to college and using sport and education as a way of succeeding
and escaping the concentrated poverty of the Buffalo communities. Using the lived
experience that I encountered and knowledge acquired in the past, I will try to piece
together a connection and express how the macro level expectations of a community

When confronted with the awkwardness of transplantation from Middle Eastern to
American culture, the women of small Muslim communities and regions are often
comforted by the feeling of solidarity generated in the sharing of communal values of
their homelands.2 The problems, however, that arise within these communities
because of more orthodox belief and practice are numerous.
The continued promotion of an orthodox value system seems to be the root of the
thwarted prosperity of these small Muslim communities. Men, traditionally the
providers, have taken the majority seat of auto factory jobs in Dearborn, MI, but are
therefore at the whim of the plant (Ford Motor, in this particular case). When it
moves, the whole Muslim community must move with it to ensure future
employment. Women are often not allowed to work outside of the home, and in
times of recession, money is scarce, and usually welfare is the only answer. The
issue of discrimination against Muslim welfare recipients by U.S. social workers is a

actions because their parents constantly did everything for them. They have a fear
of failure, a lack of confidence, and co dependency issues (Blau). The children
also, as a result of being sheltered by their parents, have decreased confidence and
self esteem, undeveloped coping skills, increased anxiety, a sense of entitlement,
and undeveloped life skills. These children are just not capable of doing things for
themselves and this leads to many issues later in life. However, helicopter
parenting is not always a horrible thing. Studies have shown that physical abuse
has dropped astonishingly, from 1992 to 2011 the rates dropped by 55%. The
same thing happened to counts of sexual abuse, it fell by 64% through the same
year range. The number of abductions by strangers fell by 51% from 1997 to 2012,
and motor vehicle deaths of children under 13 years of age fell 43% in the last
decade (Baer). This study equates the drops to the rise of helicopter parents.
Although counts of physical harm have dropped, an in depth study was done by
Florida State University that surveyed around 460 college students about their life
satisfaction levels. Those who had been raised by parents who gave them a larger
