Essay The Forbidden City
Favorable of the Forbidden City The Forbidden City is the world largest surviving palace in China. It,
first, built by Han dynasty. Later after collapsed of the Han dynasty, the first emperor of Ming dynasty
moved the capital to Nanjing, but it then moved back to old palace in Beijing and the constructions
began again in 1406 A.C. The Forbidden Palace was a Chinese imperial city during Ming and Qing
dynasties. It was a home for twenty four emperors. The palace consists of nine hundred buildings and
nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine rooms. In additional, the palace was not only the center of
politics, but it also the center of culture, the arts, poetry, history and science. Furthermore, Chinese

Furthermore, on the roof form, the column beam and strut also permits several roof styles. First is
Zuanjian , pyramid shaped roof. The other one is Wudian , a hipped roof, and Xieshan , a combination
hip gable. These three types of roof have two adjacent slopes that meet above each of four corners at
forty five degree angles. However, another most outstanding Chinese traditional characteristic,
through stylistic, is Dougong , a combination of block and supporting arm. Dougong has been use ever
since Han Dynasty, fifth century B.C. to third century A.D, and developed itself to reached peak point
in Tang and Song dynasty, from seventh to thirteen centuries. More importantly, it preserved the
structural integrity of the wooden framework, functioning the collar beam in modern architecture.
Dougong gradually shrank in size and lost its important as a structural member to become a stylized
traditional decorative, in Ming and Qing Dynasties. By the use of dougong, it demonstrates a progress
in the beginning as the technical standard then reached the apex point, and finally turned down to an
insignificant role as a stylistic element. Another example of architectural development in style during
Ming and Qing Dynasties is the garden element. The landscape garden design has gone through a long
historic phase of development. The garden evolved into two types, royal and private gardens. The
private garden served to the residences for enjoyment, relaxation, and living

The House Of Mirth And Gender Roles
The House of Mirth was written by Edith Wharton, a successful Pulitzer prize winning author.
Wharton grew up enjoying the comforts of the privileged upper class during the late eighteen
hundreds and early nineteen hundreds. This unique background is what enables her to write the raw
truth behind the social atmosphere among the upper class. This is evident through The House of Mirth
because the novel illustrates the life of Lily Bart as she navigates through the elite social jungle.
Wharton s personal experience with the privileged upper class society allows her to eloquently depict
the luxuries Lily Bart enjoys, such as extravagant vacations, elaborate events, lavish gowns, deluxe
meals, and fine wine. However, Wharton also meticulously describes ... Show more content on

During this time period, woman were suppose to be seen as ornamental figures that did not necessarily
do much but establish a dominance for their family name in social circles. Thus, men usually looked
for a trophy wife that would highlight their success in the most positive manner, and that was in fact
what Mr. Rosedale was looking for when he initially asked Lily Bart to marry him. Wharton makes
Mr. Rosedale s marriage proposal to Lily Bart look more like a business proposition which illustrates
how love and emotions were not as important as social standing and social power to most of the elite
group of wealthy people. Thus, Wharton further establishes the superficial behaviour of the upper
class. However, Lily Bart was never one of them, even if she was around them, because her morals
and ethics kept her from accepting his proposition. When Lily did spiral towards poverty and social
rejection, she was desperate for any security, and she eventually came to accept Rosedale s marriage
proposition. However, Rosedale understood that Lily Bart was a social outcast because Judy Trenor
and Bertha Dorset had deemed her as such, and that caused him to decline Lily. Thus, when the two
most sought after women in the social circle deem you socially unacceptable most everyone else does
to. Even though, Mr. Rosedale had an ardent attraction for Lily Bart it was not enough to marry her
because his business attitude assured him that Lily Bart would now not benefit him socially because of
her social disgrace. He was right in believing money would not solve Lily Bart s issues because to
become socially established they needed to be accepted by the social group led by Judy and Bertha.
Thus, Mr. Rosedale understood that Lily had failed at her function of being the ideal trophy wife

The Pros And Cons Of Photocopiers
The 21st century has in many ways been defined as the century of innovation, especially in the
emergent field of technology, and science has been an essential contributor to this. Electricity has been
an important factor to invention. Static electricity is a form of electricity that has enabled the creation
of printers, spray paint, pollutant removers and photocopiers. In this essay, I will discuss static
electricity, photocopiers, and how they play a role in the speed of mass production. I will also
illustrate the photocopier s advantages and disadvantages, and its implication for society.
The well known phrase opposites attract is derived from physics and polarity. Everything that
surrounds us is made of atoms, which are composed of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Photocopiers entertain built in hard drives that are comprised of confidential project information. Even
if one gets a private area to copy confidential documents, the documents remain stored in the
photocopier (fig 6). Therefore it is necessary to decommission the copier and clear the hard drive
before someone else uses it, so that the previous information cannot be accessed .
Photocopiers play a role, even if indirectly, in impacting the environment. We are increasingly living
in an era of pollution and scarcity of fundamental resources. One of these important and overused
resources are trees. The paper making process places burden on some of our most important natural
resources, as the production of paper uses large amounts of energy and water. The photocopying
process also uses chemicals, such as chlorine, , which can cause damage to the environment. In
addition, The United Nations Environment Programed (UNEP), has stated that paper in landfills can
produce toxic greenhouse gases such as methane, which traps up to 21 times more heat than carbon
dioxide . To reduce some of this negative impact, double sided printing was introduced; it consumes
less paper and waste, double sided printing is more environmentally friendly and economically sound.
It also speeds up the mass producing

How The Apollo Missions Changed Space Travel
Space is something that we humans are never going to be able to comprehend and understand what it
is exactly. But knowing that still is not going to stop us from trying to know as much about space as
we possibly can. The Apollo missions took that step to reaching greater heights, and landing on our
moon to know more about what it is and what is on it. These missions changed our look on space
travel and what humans can accomplish if we put our minds to it.
The Apollo Program started in 1963 and went all the way through 1972. On January 27, 1967 there
was an accident during the preflight test for Apollo 1. The Astronauts on that flight were named Virgil
Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chaffee. They all lost their lives in a fire on Apollo 1. What
started the fire was an electrical failure in the command module which ignited the inside of the ship
with the Astronauts trapped inside with no way out. (Loff, Sarah)

Active learning 2 responses Hello brown, You are correct when you stated the bail amount of
$200,000.00 is absurd, and your client did not commit any crimes nor did he put anyone s life in
danger. I totally believe that the facts in this case should speak for itself. There was never ever any
drug seen or seize, nor is it any proof the $500 that was in smith possession had something to do with
drugs period. Furthermore your client has a job and having any amount of money on a person is not
against the law, well I guess if it s a large amount than maybe your client will have should how he earn

Beginning with Document 2, we are shown a picture of a female archer during the 1908 Olympic
Games where the Women s rights movement started to arise. When looking at the statistics above the
picture we are shown that only two percent of all competitors of the Olympic Games were women.
The document is trying to show that more women should be able to be in the Olympic Games and or
be nominated to be in the Olympics. This is even further shown as the picture shows a lone women
symbolizing a stand for women as she is the only archer we are able to see. Next, we are given
Document 8 which shows a woman s statement while competing in the Olympic Games were women

show that even though she is a women, she has no problem with trying to show that women can be
just as good as men with that being her main point she wanted to get across. She considers herself a
role model for all women to follow and to stand up for themselves. These Documents show the idea of

Evaluation Of A Exercise Based Interventions
Inter individual variability in the direction and magnitude of weight change in response to supervised
exercise based interventions has been well documented (Table 1). Even in the highly controlled
environment of an isolated experimental station over an 84 day period exercise induced weight loss
ranged between 3 and 12 kg [48]. More recent studies showed that certain participants even gain
weight in response to supervised exercise interventions [42,49]. Accordingly, changes in fat mass and
fat free mass have been shown to vary considerably [36,42]. King et al. showed a roughly 50:50 split
between so called responders (i.e. participants who achieve expected weight loss) and non responders
(i.e. participants who experience a small amount of weight loss or weight gain) [36]. Other studies
indicate that a majority of participants displays some form of compensatory adaptation with a ratio of
responders to non responders of 1:2 [46,49]. Even though there is, most likely, considerable inter
individual variability in metabolic adaptations in response to exercise [42,48], success in weight loss
interventions has been largely attributed to behavioral compensation such as a decline in non exercise
PA and/or an increase in energy intake [22,36,46]; in addition to an obvious association with
adherence to the exercise protocol. In fact, it has been argued that the individual variability in weight
loss can be entirely attributed to the variability in non exercise PA [46,50].

McDonald s Faces Millennial Challenge by: Julie Jargon
Aug 25, 2014
TOPICS: Change; Competitive Positioning
SUMMARY: McDonald s is losing its luster with younger consumers. Customers in their 20s and 30s
are defecting to competitors, in particular so called fast casual restaurants like Chipotle Mexican Grill
and gourmet burger chain Five Guys. Younger diners are seeking out fresher, healthier food and chains
that offer customizable menu options for little more than the price of a combo meal.

just subjective impressions. To start with, Consumer Reports magazine said that in a survey of more

Hippocrates Social Phobias
Introduction: Symptoms of social phobias have been described since antiquity. The concept of social
phobias can be traced as far back as 2000 years ago. In 400 B.C., Hippocrates described an overtly
anxious patient named Nicanor, who was plagued by fear in social settings. He dares not come into the
company for fear he should be misused, disgraced, overshoot himself in gestures or speeches, or be
sick. He thinks every man is observing him (Jefferson, 2001, p. 4). Hippocrates did not believe the
Gods were blamed for fear as most contemporaries of his time alleged. Insisting the cause was related
to a physical malfunction within the individual, a class of melancholia or a type of insanity.

There are many types of approaches to treat anxieties, but the leading treatments tend to be a
combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a graduated exposure therapy such as
Systematic Desensitization. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is perhaps the most well know and most
practiced form of evidence based interventions for the treatment for clients suffering from SAD. The
combination of cognitive restructuring and Systematic Desensitization helps the client systematically
confront fears in a live or imagined environment. Cognitive restructuring along with exposure therapy
appears to be an effective treatment and demonstrates a larger effect than exposure therapy or
restructuring alone. Through repeated exposure, the client is helped to invalidate fears and increase
self efficacy (Priyamamvada, Kiman, Chaudhury, 2009, p.

Red Wheelbarrow Essay
From picking fresh vegetables from a garden to working in one s yard, to feeding the animals around a
farm, everything is made simpler using a red wheelbarrow. This I feel is what Williams meant when
he stated, so much depends upon a red wheel barrow (Williams, 1923). He meant just that, that
everything being done can be made easier depending on the use of a wheelbarrow. Red is a typical
color of the old wheelbarrows I can remember using on the farm with my Papa; just as, my little red
wagon was pulled behind me in helping. The red a symbolic and brings great color to the reading.

fresher look making it shinier than was in its normal dull state ( Exploring Poetry , 2001.) The white

of a vivid picture to the very short poem. Given the reader more to grasp and paint the brown barn that

the next to complete the sentence ( Exploring Poetry , 2001). Just as, the lines in

Leigh Syndrome Essay
The first reported case of LS occurred when Denis Archibald Leigh examined a baby boy who
displayed symptoms similar to that of Wernicke s, description of W (new source) . Before the child
passed, he exhibited child: development regression, somnolence, bulbar palsy, spasticity lims. (JNNP)
.It was only after the child had passed, that Leigh Syndrome, LS, was confirmed through a close

The 3 core dimensions of an organization structure are Complexity, Centralization and Formalization.
Complexity
Gareth R (2010) define Organizational complexity, the number of different function and divisions
possessed by an organization, determining the level of differentiation,. in this organizational structure,
differentiation is high. Basically there are 2 types of differentiation Vertical and Horizontal also known
as Tall Flat Structure.
Vertical differentiation, the way an organization designs its hierarchy of authority and creates
reporting relationships to connect organizational roles and subunits. Lower levels report to higher
levels. In Ghee Hoe, Mechanic is to report to workshop foreman and foreman is to report to Manager
and Manager is to report to Chief Director (the man who has the most power and authority).
Horizontal differentiation, the way an organization groups organizational tasks into roles, and roles
into subunits, establishing the division of labor. In Ghee Hoe, the spare part and workshop function

Physical Processing Techniques Lab Report
Amanda Raper Reviewed by: Cheyenne Mathes April 2, 2015 Forensic Science Analysis Lab Report
#3 Physical Processing Techniques Lab Report BACKGROUND In the forensic science field, A
Latent Print is an impression of the friction ridge skin of the fingers or palms of the hands that has
been transferred to another surface. To break apart the phrase, latent print , the term latent , means
hidden and the term print means an indentation or mark left on a surface or soft substance by pressure
especially that of a foot or hand. So the phrase latent prints , refers to any print that must be enhanced
chemically or physically to be made visible. Another way to define latent print , is simply sweat that is
exuded from the body. Friction ridge skin is the only part of the body that doesn t exude oil. The only
oil that may be in a latent print has been picked up by touching another area of the body (face or ears
for example) or some foreign object. In 1863, Professor Paul Jean Coulier, published his observations
that latent prints can be developed on paper by iodine fuming and how to preserve the impressions.
However, with the discovery of latent print process in 1863, the first official use of latent prints wasn t
until 1933 with the Hamm Kidnapping case. To solve the Hamm Kidnapping case, a Silver Nitrate
Method was used. In the Hamm Kidnapping case, the use of the Silver Nitrate Method was the first
time this method was successful in obtaining latent prints. Since

The Use of Chemical Weapons in the Tokyo Subway Attack Essay
The Use of Chemical Weapons in the Tokyo Subway Attack
Japan has long enjoyed the enviable reputation of being one of the safest nations in the world. The
country has one of the world lowest rates for murder and other violent crime, and the Japanese
National Police Agency and local Police forces are often praised as a model of law enforcement
efficiency. Tokyo enjoys one of the cleanest, safest and most efficient subway networks in the world.
Trains run on precise schedules and accommodate 2.7 billion passengers a year. All that changed on

Some commentators began to think that the attack was targeted on NPA officers. Some commentators
evidently anticipated that the Tokyo attack was a prelude to the issuing of demands by the criminal.
Commentators also expressed surprise that, given the toxicity of sarin and the nature of the target, the
casualty had not in fact been much higher. Others suggested that the agent may simply have been
impure, perhaps deliberately diluted either self protection of the attackers or to keep the number of
fatalities low. This theory appeared confirmed by the discovery early on the traces of another
substance, acetonitrile (or methyl cyanide), which it could have been used to dilute the gas.

The Importance Of Somaliland In The United States
Thurgood Marshall said, In recognizing the humanity of our fellow beings, we pay ourselves the

of Somaliland is crucial because the encouragement of African action should not become the basis for
inaction on the part of the United States. Jendayi Frazer, in her report on Somaliland: Time for African
Union Leadership, states that the United States would recognize Somaliland if the others acted first.
But Somaliland deserves recognition from a purely U.S. centric national security perspective. The
United States has always stood to protect the values that it was founded upon. Somaliland, in its
entirety fits this impression. The Somaliland government and population embody a moderate voice in
the Muslim world that rejects radical interpretations of Islam, including that espoused by the Council

Techniques and Their Effects- the Truman Show
The Truman Show In the film The Truman Show , directed by Peter Weir, many techniques are
strategically used to position the audience to respond emotionally to Truman Burbank. Techniques
such as lighting, music, camera shots and angles are used in three specific scenes throughout the film
co ordinated by the shows director Christof. He uses these techniques to encourage the show s
audience to believe that what they are watching is unscripted and real. The first scene Introducing
Truman Day 10,909 is an example of one of these scenes as it uses techniques to introduce to the
audience Truman s world as one that is cheerful, happy and bright. As Truman gets ready for his day at
work the scene has bright lighting and the costumes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Truman does not walk into his workplace the show s audience respond with excitement and a
sense of pride. High angle tracking shots are used as cameras follow Truman and his every step,
unable to anticipate his next move. The reverse shot in the side mirror of a car closely follow Truman
and as several people obstruct the view it appears as if Truman is trying to get away and disappear
from the scrutiny of the cameras. Truman tentatively surveys the area and for the first time listens to
conversations around him. Close up shots of several conversations position the audience to also
question those around Truman. These techniques used position the audience to respond with
enthusiasm and delight towards Truman and his suspicions about the world he lives in. It is no longer
seen as perfect. In the third scene Truman s Dad Returns , the atmosphere is depressing and dark as
Truman finally realises what is happening. The lighting is bright and happy as the police return Meryl
and Truman to their home. Meryl reflects this bright lighting with her smile and belief that she is in
control of the situation. Whereas Truman is slouched over in his chair provoking the audience to feel
sorry for his sadness and his dark and gloomy expression. When the camera focuses back on Meryl,
however the audience is positioned to feel enlightened by her smile and positive attitude. As Truman
starts to get serious and the knife is pulled out dramatic music possesses the background. The room

Persuasive Essay On Stop And Frisk
Parayno, Jay Mard
English 105
Professor Zaragoza
December 11, 2016
Stop and Frisk Stop and frisk is a tactic designed for reducing crime by allowing police officers to
stop and search individuals that may seem suspicious. This law allows police officers to search
individuals only if they have reasonable suspicion that a crime might occur or if the suspect is carrying
anything illegal or dangerous. Between the years of 2002 and 2016, there have been 5 million stop and
streets interrogations, and nine out of 10 individuals who were stopped have been completely innocent
( Stop and Frisk Data ). With that being said, stop and frisk should not continue to be a policing tactic
because it is ineffective, it gives too much power to police officers, and promotes racial profiling. One
misconception that many believe is that the stop and frisk program brings in many criminals or even
those that have potential; however, many stop and frisk incidents were unsuccessful, making the tactic
ineffective. According to the NYPD s own report, over 100,000 people were stopped every year since
2002 and every year above 77% were innocent ( Stop and Frisk Data ). In an interview conducted by
Amy Goodman for Democracy Now, she interviews a NYPD officer named Adhyl Polanco ( NYPD
Officer Risks ). He states that the officers will cuff anyone just to meet their quota. Polanco continues,

Nervous Conditions Analysis
Nervous Conditions is a novel by Zimbabwean author Tsitsi Dangarembga, first published in the
United Kingdom in 1988. The semi autobiographical novel focuses on the story of a Rhodesian family
in post colonial Rhodesia during the 1960s. It attempts to illustrate the dynamic themes of race, class,
gender, and cultural change during the post colonial conditions of present day Zimbabwe. The title is
taken from the introduction by Jean Paul Sartre to Frantz Fanon s The Wretched of the Earth.
Plot summary

novel opens up with the news that Tambu s older brother, Nhamo, had just died. Tambu is not upset
about this because Nhamo studied at a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another cultural significance which was represented in the book were the gender relations. This is also
evident in the beginning of the book when Tambu claims to be a better student than her brother ever
was, but that he was chosen to get the better English schooling simply because he was a man and she
was a girl. This is representative of the country and obviously most of the world at this time since
women movements in Africa were not prominent at the time. The Africans had to worry about their
general independence first instead of the rights of women, which is the main reason why there weren t
as many women movements towards rights until after independence. This makes sense since it would
be unethical to have African men and women treated equally while still under the negative influence
of the English. This explains why women movements in Zimbabwe were formed in the years after
independence and still are in effect to this day.
Characters
Tambu: Jeremiah and Mainini s daughter. Tambu is the novel s main character and narrator of the
story. Her desire for an education and to improve herself seem strong enough to overcome just about
anything. She is very hard on herself, and always strives to do her best and make the correct decisions.
Unlike many other characters in the book, she respects the societal roles in place regardless of her
desire not to be held back by her gender. Despite the drastic changes in her life, Tambu

Compassion Fatigue and Burnout in Nurses Who Work With Children With Chronic Conditions and
Their Families
Introduction
Choosing the career path of a pediatric nurse can be exceptionally rewarding, with that comes many
trials and tribulations. This research paper will be discussing a pilot study done on compassion fatigue
and burnout in nurses who work with children with chronic conditions and their families. The goal of
this study was to identify the triggers, impacts, and coping strategies pediatric nurses use to manage
compassion fatigue and prevent burnout. Compassion fatigue, meaning the natural behavior and
emotional demands one experiences with helping or wanting to help a traumatized person, and

Purposive sampling was used in this study. Nurses were recruited from an array of pediatric settings in
Minneapolis and Minnesota. Twenty pediatric nurses agreed to participate. Their nursing experience
extended from four to thirty six years. An interview guide containing eleven essential open ended
questions and probe questions about compassion fatigue and burnout was assembled by the
researchers. The interview guide included questions about the nurse s educational and work
experiences, their experiences with compassion fatigue and burnout, triggers that lead to compassion
fatigue and burnout, and strategies for coping with fatigue and burnout. Each interview lasted about an
hour to an hour and a half, and two investigators each oversaw half of the interviews. (Maytum,
Bielski Heiman, Garwick, 2004) Results The nurse participants revealed a broad range of emotional
and physical symptoms of compassion fatigue and burnout. The majority of nurses were able to
recognize early signals of compassion fatigue. Almost all of the nurses associated fatigue and lack of
energy as leading indicators of compassion fatigue. Participants described thirty two different triggers.
Most of the triggers were work related, and about one fourth was personal triggers. The triggers were
divided into four categories; triggers related to caring for children

Life Is Precious In Human Life
Life is a precious gift from God. It is precious because He created it and declares it so in
His Word. It is meant not only to be enjoyed, but also respected. Life is not flippant and is not in our
hands or under our authority to bring into or take out of existence. That alone is God s power and His
authority. Mass shootings and terrorist attacks are an abomination to God because it shows people
taking God s role and authority and applying it to their own wicked, fallen, and human selves. They
ignore and slight God s deity and supreme authority by deciding for themselves who lives and who
dies. Life is not theirs to take. Human life is sacred, it is so precious because mankind is made in the
image of God and bears His image here on earth.
Violation of the sanctity of human life is not only a recent or modern issue. It goes way back to the
dawn of creation with Adam and Eve s first generation. In Genesis 4:8 10 the Bibles tells of Cain
rising up against Abel, his brother, and killing him. Cain s initial sin wasn t murder.
The root of that sin was disobedience then jealousy and bitterness which was what led to the murder
of Abel. God most definitely did not take this sin lightly. He said in verse 10 ...the voice of thy brother
s blood crieth unto me from the ground . God was grieved at Abel s death and at the disrespect of Cain
taking God s matters, that is, life and death, into his own feeble and foolish hands. Ultimately, sin
starts in the heart. Just like Cain, people today

Tuberculosis Is A Disease Caused By Mycobacterium...
Introduction
When looking to educate myself on the most commonly seen health conditions in hospitals, I turned to
Mrs. Tonya Simpson RN, a registered nurse at St. Joseph hospital in New Jersey. Mrs. Simpson
informed me that Tuberculosis is a disease that she sees profusely at St. Joseph hospital. During the
interview I gained great insight on why she chose this particular disease, the etiology, the frequency,
prevalence, pathophysiology, signs/symptoms, treatments, and the prognosis of Tuberculosis.
Etiology
During the interview with healthcare provider Mrs. Tonya Simpson, she when in great detail
explaining that Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This is a
disease that affects the lungs and can be transmitted from person to person by coughing, face to face
conversing, sneezing, and even breathing the same air of an infected person can spread the disease. A
profuse amount of people have TB, but the bacteria is not active, which prevents them from being
contagious (T. Simpson, personal communication, March 25, 2015). It is only when the disease is
presented to be active that it can be transmitted. Seniors and children have a greater risk to be infected
with Tuberculosis due to their weak immune systems.
Incidence and Prevalence In 2013 Tuberculosis had a total of 9,588 new tuberculosis (TB) cases
reported in the United States, with an incidence rate of 3.0 cases per 100,000 population, a decrease of
4.2% from 2012 (Negar Niki Alami,

Bycatch Research Paper
The term has been written by Simon Northridge. what is bycatch? It is the unfortunate event of marine
mammals getting caught and killed during fishing.most of the time, these mammals deaths were
completely unintentional by the fishermen but it regularly happens during fishing operations. Bycatch
is therefore incidental catches. No matter the fishing gear, they have all catched at least once,
unwanted marine mammals especially in greatly fished areas. Species like whales, porpoises and
others find their way into these gears but are unable to get out of them. A staggering 300, 000 marine
mammals are killed through bycatch. For many years, and to this day, bycatches of marine mammals
are seen as bonus and therefore used to sell for consumption. ... Show more content on

The issue with delphinids contrary to dolphins, once they are caught in purse seine nets with

as in the 1950 s, it only started getting monitored in the 1970 s. for the many years when it was
happening, the annual mortalities were around 200 500, 000. Even with the new monitoring, many
dolphins are continuously being killed through this fishing technique. Thanks to dolphin safe labels
and movement, there has been great improvement on this practice. This improvement has led to a
reduction of dolphin mortalities to less than 1500 per year in 2004. Unfortunately, even with this
progress, dolphins and the other marine mammals affected are struggling to repopulate because of
how affected the species were from all the previous years but also since large scale captures are still
going on.
The discovery of the effect of the ETP tuna fishery on dolphins has opened the door to a realization
that other fisheries are killing several other marine mammals. The baji Lipotes vexillifer is now
declared extinct as well as the vaquita Phocoena sinus. The Baji is a Chinese river dolphin and its
extinction is caused by fishing lines; it is a long line of sharp hooks used for other fish but since it is

Analysis Of The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment
Introduction: The blight on human history known as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study was on all counts an
immoral and unethical research study. Public Health Services were the ones conducting the
experiment, which went on for years (from 1932 to 1972) and throughout the entire thing human
beings were used as laboratory animals (The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, 2000). Unfortunately, this
study was conducted when racism was still common, meaning that the human lab rats were poor black
men, because they were seen as lesser beings. These men were lied to in order to ensure their
cooperation with the study. The lies told to them included the omission of what was actually wrong
with them, instead of telling the victims that they had syphilis it ... Show more content on

Caring for individuals is simply having concern for the other person s well being and understanding
the needs of the other person, such as being conscious of their welfare (Blum, 2001). This was
glaringly absent during this time, considering how many people died because of this experiment.
Another principle violated during those forty years was beneficence, which is an obligation to help
others or to do good. It could be argued that this study was conducted in order to do good, at least for
white people if they learned more about syphilis, but beneficence actually signifies producing good,
not just some good (Kohl, 2001). Another strong clue that what happened in Tuskegee was unethical
was that it did not follow the framework for research provided in the Belmont Report, where two
major pieces included of which are justice and a respect for persons (Miracle, 2016). The racist
outlook of the researchers which deemed this study acceptable since black men were considered lesser
people entirely vetoed any respect for persons involved as well as any justice for those individuals
automatically.
Eunice Rivers was an African American woman who won the trust of all the men in the experiment
and reassured them in times of doubt. Although she did sincerely care for them, Eunice blindly
followed orders and refused to acknowledge the unethical and immoral treatments that happened
around her (The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, 2000). Her justification of her

Antibiotic Resistance
Introduction
This article is about the determination of Antibiotic resistance that relies on the fitness effects of
resistance elements in the absence of antibiotics. Angst and Hall tentatively developed rifampicin
resistant and delicate Escherichia coli in drug free environment, before measuring the impacts of new
resistance components on fitness in antibiotic free conditions. Streptomycin resistance changes had
little fitness impacts in rifampicin resistant genotypes that had adjusts to antibiotic free environment ,
contrasted with the same genotypes without acclimatization. They watched a comparative impact
when resistance was encoded by a plasmid. Antibiotic sensitive microorganisms that acclimated to the
same conditions indicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Resistant microorganisms obtain extra helpful changes throughout advancement without antibiotic s
that don t modify resistance straightforwardly however may change the fitness impacts of new
resistance transformations (Angst and Hall, 2013). It is critical that researchers study this theme on the
grounds that fitness impacts of resistance transformations frequently fluctuate relying upon the
vicinity of other resistance changes on the same genome. Furthermore, it is likewise essential to study
this issue so as to minimize the development of microbes into antibiotic resistant superbugs that could
conceivably make a worldwide health crisis.
Methods
The researchers theory is that antibiotic resistance goes through extra valuable transformations
throughout development without antibiotic s that don t adjust resistance specifically however may
change the fitness impacts of new resistance changes. They saw that later work prescribes: fitness
impacts of resistance transformations regularly differ relying upon the vicinity of other resistance
changes on the same genome, yet they also realized that, resistance evolution will frequently be joined
by the obsession of fixation of additional mutations that don t argue resistance however expand fitnes.
One experiment that they did to test their hypothesis was to tentatively advance

1984 Commentary
The second half of 1984 was good but not what I imagined. Winston meets Julia, a girl that he works

they become under full control of big brother. Once they are under big brothers control they are put
back into the world to do nothing. I thought the end would be more exciting, I thought Winston and
Julia would actually put up a fight against big brother. The big word I chose for the second half of

Captain America Movie Analysis
Differences Between Reviews
Critics can pretty much review about anything and many of which are very similar with one another,
however, some of them are quite different actually. The two critics Stuckmann and Jahns focus on
Captain America: Civil War (the movie.) Both critics talk about how they feel towards the movie in
their own opinions while trying not to spoil the entire movie. Stuckmann and Jahns may not support
each other face to face, however, they both portray similar perspectives while having different views
on Captain America: Civil War. For example, they both give different insights on the conflict, action
scenes and characters while agreeing with one another, while also having some similarities between
the two.
Everybody takes conflict in movies differently or similarly. Movies as of today have impacted people
in many ways. Such as why Stuckmann believes the conflict behind Captain America: Civil War is
friendship and vengeance (inclining the cause of conflict within the movie is friendship and
vengeance.) While Jahns, broadly thinks the conflict is because of two sides of the argument (Stating
that their two or more people causing the conflict) in the movie. Both critics agree that there is a cause
behind the conflict in the movie. However, as Jahns mentions he does not believe the conflict is
because of friendship and vengeance. He believes theirs (without really providing in depth details) two
sides of an argument causing the conflict in the movie.

Essay on Baroque Music
Baroque Music
In 1600 a new style of music began to evolve, this form of music was later to be called Baroque.
Baroque music was very different to the music before its time such as medieval and early renaissance
music and the development of new harmonic and melodic lines added difference in pace and variation
to the compositions giving them a new shape and form. The structure of the music also changed,
different forms such as fugues and cannons developed and different instruments were introduced.
There were many composers that wrote music throughout the baroque era, some more significant than
others but each contributing a large amount to the development throughout this period.

Handel s father disapproved of his composing wanting him to study law; however Handel s intentions
were strongly pointed in the direction of his musical talent. Handel became very much involved in the

Germany he spent a significant amount of time in Florence, Rome, Naples and Venice and in this time
he studied with other influential artists such as ArcangeloCorelli. He then left Italy in 1710 and moved
to Hanover; here he was given the job of director of music to George Louis, the Elector. Handel was
considered as one of England s most influential composers and after his death in 1710 he was buried
in Westminster Abbey.
Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21st l685 and died in 1750, he was said to have a great
ability of bringing the different forms and styles of baroque music to perfection and this helped him
stand out as a significant composer during the baroque era and forward till today. Bach came from a

Inmate Suicide In Jail
In American jails there is a frightening amount of inmate suicides that occur, and seem to stay under
the radar and unspoken about. There are many different contributing factors that can lead to an inmate
ultimately choosing to take his or her own life. Being sentenced to jail can be difficult for various
inmates to handle and one can have a risk of developing a mental illness if he or she has not already
been diagnosed as mentally ill. A mental illness can become a battle with one s self that some cannot
win, and only see darkness ahead. Inmates being confined in jail can lead to a breaking point, which is
suicide. Other factors include inmates being stressed out and fearing imprisonment. Jails across the
United States have to take initiative regarding inmate suicides or else the suicide rates could increase.
Without treatment, awareness, and prevention there will be no improvement in decreasing the amount
of inmate suicides. The conversation of inmate suicide has to be had between jail officials, inmates,
and society because there is help out there and everyone must know that it is not cowardly to ask for
help.

Pluto s Life As A Planet
Pluto s life as a planet was very short, lasting only 75 years which is less than a third of its orbital
period. While Pluto independently orbits the sun in a spheroidal shape two classifications for being
considered a planet Pluto lost its title with the discovery of Eris. Pluto also travels on a different plane
than the rest of the planets, and because it has an extremely elliptical orbit, it occasionally crosses
Neptune s orbital path and, therefore, is occasionally closer to Earth than Neptune (Countdown, 2011).
As a dwarf planet Pluto is the only binary planet in the system due to one of its five moons being half
of its size.
Pluto, the ninth planet in our solar system, was mourned by many when astronomers decided in 2006
that it did not fit the definition of a planet. With the discovery of Eris (a dwarf planet bigger than
Pluto) in 2005, it is easy to understand why astronomers finally ruled out Pluto as a planet. However,
there has been a debate as to whether or not Pluto should be allowed back. The biggest downside to
claiming Pluto as a planet again is that astronomers will have to classify other dwarf planets as a part
of our solar system, forcing children to memorize at least 25 planets instead of eight (Lemonick,
2014). Whether or not it becomes a planet again, we will still be expanding our knowledge of the
dwarf planet and its moons, as well as its impact in our solar system.

Abstract Christianity and Buddhism are two religions that believe very differently from one another.
They have a different god; believe differently about how the world was created, what humans are and
how we evolved. They have different beliefs on what happens after one dies, how we know what we
know, and how we know right from wrong. These two religions even have a different idea on what we
are supposed to achieve or do during our life time. Due to these differences, people of these religions
have a different spiritual perspective on healing and they would like to be cared for by the doctors and
nurses in different ways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Buddhism, knowledge is gained through a series of works and scriptures. Aside from the collection
of scriptures, families also teach Buddhists between right and wrong. Buddhism also has the Five
Moral Precepts, which are: do not kill or harm anything living, do not steal, do not engage in sexual
misconduct, do not lie and do not consume intoxicants, such as tobacco, alcohol or mind altering
drugs (ElGindy, 2013). Family is very important in Buddhism (Chen, 2016). In Buddhism, the
meaning of human history is to achieve Nirvana. Spiritual Perspective on Healing In Christianity,
physical and spiritual healing is found through Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate healer and only through
His will can we be healed. (Stanley, 2014). In Buddhism, healing is found more through Karma. If one
has been living a good life, he or she will have good karma and they are less likely to get sick.
However, if they have been living a bad life, he or she will have bad karma, and that is the reason they
get sick (Chen, 2016). In my opinion, I believe that a person is healed through Jesus Christ. Getting
sick is not a punishment from God, it is a natural occurrence. By praying for healing, one can get
healed. There are some instances in which He won t heal us, but that is because He is ready for us to
come home to be with Him.

Gordie is the smart and sensible one of the group and devises a plan to go find the boy s body. Some
of the film techniques are short shot and long shot. A short short contains only one of the characters.
In the dog chase scene they used lots of film technique such as medium shot low angle and high angle.
The medium shot is a general, all purpose shot. Medium shots are used for dialogue sequences, and
they allow the viewer to pick up on the character s movements and gestures. Body language is
important to conveying emotion, and the medium shot remains close enough to capture that emotion.
The dog chase scene is about when the four boys stop at the junkyard to get some water and Gordie is
made to go to the shops to get some food and drinks. When gordie is coming back from the shop he
looks around and can t see his friends anywhere. When Gordie looks ahead he sees them jumping a
fence, he doesn t know what is happening but then he sees the junkman looking straight at him.
Gordie is scared and runs as fast as he can as the junkman s dog chases him, Gordie jumps the fence
and the junkman comes up to the boys on the other side and starts making fun of Teddy s dad.
When the boy s find the dead body they are shocked because they have never seen a dead body before.
Gordie realises that he no longer wants to be a hero as he feels sorry for the dead boy. The older gang
boys want to be the heros so they threaten Chris s life with a knife to his throat but his best

Boundary Stelae
Boundary Stelae 2014: 3). It an important note Akhenaten does not accredit himself with the specifics
only that the location was his choice as he looked to match specifications entrusted to him by Aten,
with the self importance attributed to many previous braggart Pharaohs, Akhenaten does not do this.
Now Akhenaten does take credit for the find of the specific location where no former religious taint or
city it was founded, truly on a pure and untouched piece of land. Other tangible evidence is provided
in the obvious reflection in art, architecture, building design, city planning, and religion at this time.
Prior to Akhenaten s 4th year of reign he did things much as his father s had done before him, meaning
building temples and statues in order to represent the Pharaohs grandness by his control of people in
building these grand structures. Amenhotep III and Nefertiti change their names in the 4th year of his
reign. Amenhotep forever becoming known as Akhenaten, (Aten is satisfied) from here until his death,
and Nefertiti following her husband then became known as Nefernefruaten Nefertiti. Changing his
name from Amenhotep IV to occurred a month before he wrote: being the documented day this was
his recant of the first time he rode his chariot into the city of Akhetaten as Amenhotep IV, had carved
it into the Boundary Stele contained within the first proclamation (Amarna Project Boundary Stele
2014:3). By year 7(some say 8) of his reign the capital was officially

Examples Of Imperialism In The Jungle Books And The Second...
The Jungle Books The First Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book is a collection of short stories,
several of which have the same protagonist, by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1894 and 1895
respectively. The stories that are relevant to this essay take place in the jungles of India and in a
bungalow in the 19th century. The Mowgli stories tell the story of a boy, found and raised in the
jungle, whose primal life is full of adventures, all the while struggling with his own humanity.
Meanwhile, Rikki Tikki Tavi is about a mongoose, separated from his relatives, who ends up with a
British family whom he must save from the local fauna. Kipling wrote these, and many other stories,
with children in mind, therefore one might assume that the message is as innocent as can be to suit the
young readers. However, in post colonial times, many have criticized ... Show more content on

Although limited, one can observe evidence of imperialism in the stories in both literal and symbolic
references. As we have seen, the English are the ones who provide safety and protection for those who
need their help, and the animals and Mowgli both represent the inhabitants of the Raj. While this is the
case, imperialism is more apparent in the tale of Rikki Tikki Tavi than The Jungle Books. It is easier to
compare Rikki Tikki s story with that of India s during colonial times, as the symbols are clearer and
the plot seems historically telling. Additionally, Mowgli share some similarities with Kipling s
childhood, both being born (...) a god among mere mortals, struggling to find a real home. Finally,
while some critics praise Kipling s literature, a few condemn his work for being in favor of the
empire, but is this the case for the Jungle Books? Perhaps so, but it could also be the result of
subconscious thoughts that he was born and raised with, which found their way into his

Children Need To Play, Not Compete By Jessica Statsky
Review of Jessica Statsky s Children Need to Play, Not Compete In Children Need to Play, Not
Compete , Jessica Statsky, stresses that competition in sports for five to six year old children has a
lasting impact on their psychological and social aspects. Jessica has a strong opinion about the adverse
effects of sports.
Negative situations arise when coaches and parents, with the intention of encouraging children to
enhance their skill sets indirectly convey the critical importance of winning and competition.
Jessica reasons out that such strategies of learning might lead to injuries on the physical and
psychological level. When children are driven thoughtlessly towards competition and achievement in
sports, they might experience tremendous pressure at a tender age, which might translate into deep
negative feelings and inability to deal with failure.
Sadly enough, the whole idea of play is reversed and children start to perceive ... Show more content

However, the execution of the final sport activity was done after thoroughly understanding the
individual competence and interests of the children. This was possible after spending years of learning
together with the child in their home school setting. Parents of children in such an environment
studied the preferences of their children and geared them gracefully to pursue a sport of their choice
and be a part of the team at a pace they were comfortable with. Children didn t just learn sports skills
in this way, but were also far better team players than public school children in their neighbourhood.
Parents of children inn this setting or their coaches were never bound by unattainable targets, hence
never pushed children into something they did not like or were not comfortable with, as this approach
was not in line with the home school value system they were

Point Of View From The Narrator s Point Of View
Ways to see people. It is sometimes hard to see things from just one point of view. Someone might be
very happy but from the point of view from someone who is sad it would be hard to see the happiness
from the other person. Different points of view make it easier to see how and what people are
thinking. Thesis: Different points of view make it easier to tell things, like seeing from the narrator s
point of view makes it easier to see how lonely the sensei is. In this essay there are many ways that
missing the general idea could be missed. The point of view from the narrator makes it very easy to
see that the sensei is very lonely. The narrator says His attitude seemed somewhat unsociable.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder Analysis
The popular conception of anorexia involves glamorous celebrities and supermodels, teen girls and
magazines, and is nothing like the reality of hospitals, hair loss, and, oftentimes, death. Anorexia
nervosa is the deadliest of all psychiatric illnesses and cuts across racial, age, and gender backgrounds.
The image of the white teen girl munching on ice cubes is only part of the picture of a serious,
complex, and very misunderstood disorder. When I was in high school, my best friend Kylie* changed
drastically. Her sense of style shifted and she started wearing brightly colored sweatshirts and hair
extensions. She also got her driver s license before the rest of us and would get lunch off campus,
bringing my friends and I back milkshakes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This notion, however, has been viewed as more antiquated in recent years, and the etiological
perception of the disorder has become a lot more nuanced. An individual s environment and social
status are perhaps more revealing risk factors than race and gender themselves. Social communities
that value thinness, such as career fields like modeling and wrestling, are specific causal factors. Peer
and family influences also contribute a great deal to disordered eating patterns. A mother obsessed
with beauty can enforce a social expectation for thinness even more completely. Changing standards
of beauty, from a Rubenesque Venus to a waifish Twiggy, have also been cited as causal factors. The
idea that society causes anorexia is powerful, but much to simplistic to fully explain the steady
increase in cases of anorexia throughout the 20th

Shale Gas Argumentative Essay
To make a good article, you are supposed to have a good claim, evidence, and reasoning. You have to
make a stronger article that is better than all the others. Out of these two articles, The Benefits of
Shale Gas and Stop the Fracking! , Stop the Fracking presents the stronger argument because of their
evidence, claim, and reasoning. The Benefits of Shale gas uses relevant evidence to support his topic.
Mostly in the article, he talks about what shale gas is. It says things such as Shale gas is a type of
natural gas found under a Shale rock. That has nothing to do with the benefits of it.It talks about this
nonsense for about 3 to four paragraphs. In the last paragraph, it talks about the benefits of Shale Gas.

A Planar Dual-Band Filter based on the Reduced Length...
A Planar Dual Band Filter based on the Reduced Length Parallel Coupled Lines
Seungku Lee and Yongshik Lee, Member, IEEE
Sowmya Ravichandran
Review paper summary: A Dual Band Filter is obtained by cascading the reactively loaded parallel
coupled lines of reduced length ( 〖90〗^0).The proposed filter have same electrical performance at
both the passbands at frequencies f1 and mf1, where m is the frequency of separation between the two
passbands. A complete set of design equations are derived for arbitrary number of Filter stages using
standard filter synthesis technique. This provides simple, low cost and high performance filter with
multiple bands.
Introduction: Multiple channels are used by most of the modern communication devices. So ... Show

The ports 2 and 3 can be made open or short. This design operates only at one frequency (f1).The
equation for designing this filter is derived by even and odd mode analysis. The bandwidth of the filter
with dual band is less compared to the conventional filter with single frequency of operation. This
reduction in bandwidth is due to the Shunt stubs which are used to load the parallel coupled lines.
Novel Design: The electrical length of the coupled line is reduced to 〖34.84〗^0 . This decrease in
length can be obtained only by increasing the frequency of separation m to 4.167.Hence the passband
frequencies thus obtained are 2.4GHz and 10GHz.The even and mode impedances of the coupled line
and the impedance of the shunt stub are calculated using the filter design equations. The shunt
impedance value is found to be decreased when compared to filter with length 〖56.8421〗^0.The
bandwidth at both the frequencies are increased to 216MHz for a filter with 9% fractional bandwidth
at 2.4GHz and 2.16% fractional bandwidth at 10GHz.Thus a reduced length filter would have
increased bandwidth and decreased stub impedance. A graph is plotted for frequency Vs insertion loss.
The insertion loss is found to be 0.66dB at 2.4GHz and 19.8dB at 10GHz.A better insertion loss of
2.9dB is obtained with a little shift in the frequency at 12.1GHz.
Table 1: 2.4/10GHz Dual band filter

Later after collapsed of the Han dynasty, the first emperor of Ming dynasty moved the capital to Nanjing, but it then moved back to old palace in Beijing and the constructions began again in 1406 A.C. The Forbidden Palace was a Chinese imperial city during Ming and Qing dynasties. It was a home for twenty four emperors. The palace consists of nine hundred buildings and nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine rooms. The other one is Wudian , a hipped roof, and Xieshan , a combination hip gable. These three types of roof have two adjacent slopes that meet above each of four corners at forty five degree angles. However, another most outstanding Chinese traditional characteristic, through stylistic, is Dougong , a combination of block and supporting arm. Dougong has been use ever since Han Dynasty, fifth century B.C. to third century A.D, and developed itself to reached peak point in Tang and Song dynasty, from seventh to thirteen centuries. More importantly, it preserved the structural integrity of the wooden framework, functioning the collar beam in modern architecture. Dougong gradually shrank in size and lost its important as a structural member to become a stylized traditional decorative, in Ming and Qing Dynasties. By the use of dougong, it demonstrates a progress in the beginning as the technical standard then reached the apex point, and finally turned down to an insignificant role as a stylistic element. Another example of architectural development in style during Ming and Qing Dynasties is the garden element. The landscape garden design has gone through a long historic phase of development. • 3. The House Of Mirth And Gender Roles The House of Mirth was written by Edith Wharton, a successful Pulitzer prize winning author. Wharton grew up enjoying the comforts of the privileged upper class during the late eighteen hundreds and early nineteen hundreds. This unique background is what enables her to write the raw truth behind the social atmosphere among the upper class. This is evident through The House of Mirth because the novel illustrates the life of Lily Bart as she navigates through the elite social jungle. Wharton s personal experience with the privileged upper class society allows her to eloquently depict the luxuries Lily Bart enjoys, such as extravagant vacations, elaborate events, lavish gowns, deluxe meals, and fine wine. However, Wharton also meticulously describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this time period, woman were suppose to be seen as ornamental figures that did not necessarily do much but establish a dominance for their family name in social circles. Thus, men usually looked for a trophy wife that would highlight their success in the most positive manner, and that was in fact what Mr. Rosedale was looking for when he initially asked Lily Bart to marry him. Wharton makes Mr. Rosedale s marriage proposal to Lily Bart look more like a business proposition which illustrates how love and emotions were not as important as social standing and social power to most of the elite group of wealthy people. Thus, Wharton further establishes the superficial behaviour of the upper class. However, Lily Bart was never one of them, even if she was around them, because her morals and ethics kept her from accepting his proposition. When Lily did spiral towards poverty and social rejection, she was desperate for any security, and she eventually came to accept Rosedale s marriage proposition. However, Rosedale understood that Lily Bart was a social outcast because Judy Trenor and Bertha Dorset had deemed her as such, and that caused him to decline Lily. Thus, when the two most sought after women in the social circle deem you socially unacceptable most everyone else does to. Even though, Mr. Rosedale had an ardent attraction for Lily Bart it was not enough to marry her because his business attitude assured him that Lily Bart would now not benefit him socially because of her social disgrace. He was right in believing money would not solve Lily Bart s issues because to become socially established they needed to be accepted by the social group led by Judy and Bertha. Thus, Mr. Rosedale understood that Lily had failed at her function of being the ideal trophy wife ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Photocopiers The 21st century has in many ways been defined as the century of innovation, especially in the emergent field of technology, and science has been an essential contributor to this. Electricity has been an important factor to invention. Static electricity is a form of electricity that has enabled the creation of printers, spray paint, pollutant removers and photocopiers. In this essay, I will discuss static electricity, photocopiers, and how they play a role in the speed of mass production. I will also illustrate the photocopier s advantages and disadvantages, and its implication for society. The well known phrase opposites attract is derived from physics and polarity. Everything that surrounds us is made of atoms, which are composed of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Photocopiers entertain built in hard drives that are comprised of confidential project information. Even if one gets a private area to copy confidential documents, the documents remain stored in the photocopier (fig 6). Therefore it is necessary to decommission the copier and clear the hard drive before someone else uses it, so that the previous information cannot be accessed . Photocopiers play a role, even if indirectly, in impacting the environment. We are increasingly living in an era of pollution and scarcity of fundamental resources. One of these important and overused resources are trees. The paper making process places burden on some of our most important natural resources, as the production of paper uses large amounts of energy and water. The photocopying process also uses chemicals, such as chlorine, , which can cause damage to the environment. In addition, The United Nations Environment Programed (UNEP), has stated that paper in landfills can produce toxic greenhouse gases such as methane, which traps up to 21 times more heat than carbon dioxide . To reduce some of this negative impact, double sided printing was introduced; it consumes less paper and waste, double sided printing is more environmentally friendly and economically sound. • 5. How The Apollo Missions Changed Space Travel Space is something that we humans are never going to be able to comprehend and understand what it is exactly. But knowing that still is not going to stop us from trying to know as much about space as we possibly can. The Apollo missions took that step to reaching greater heights, and landing on our moon to know more about what it is and what is on it. These missions changed our look on space travel and what humans can accomplish if we put our minds to it. The Apollo Program started in 1963 and went all the way through 1972. On January 27, 1967 there was an accident during the preflight test for Apollo 1. The Astronauts on that flight were named Virgil Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chaffee. They all lost their lives in a fire on Apollo 1. What started the fire was an electrical failure in the command module which ignited the inside of the ship with the Astronauts trapped inside with no way out. • 9. Evaluation Of A Exercise Based Interventions Inter individual variability in the direction and magnitude of weight change in response to supervised exercise based interventions has been well documented (Table 1). Even in the highly controlled environment of an isolated experimental station over an 84 day period exercise induced weight loss ranged between 3 and 12 kg [48]. More recent studies showed that certain participants even gain weight in response to supervised exercise interventions [42,49]. Accordingly, changes in fat mass and fat free mass have been shown to vary considerably [36,42]. King et al. showed a roughly 50:50 split between so called responders (i.e. participants who achieve expected weight loss) and non responders (i.e. participants who experience a small amount of weight loss or weight gain) [36]. Other studies indicate that a majority of participants displays some form of compensatory adaptation with a ratio of responders to non responders of 1:2 [46,49]. Even though there is, most likely, considerable inter individual variability in metabolic adaptations in response to exercise [42,48], success in weight loss interventions has been largely attributed to behavioral compensation such as a decline in non exercise PA and/or an increase in energy intake [22,36,46]; in addition to an obvious association with adherence to the exercise protocol. In fact, it has been argued that the individual variability in weight loss can be entirely attributed to the variability in non exercise PA [46,50]. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 400 B.C., Hippocrates described an overtly anxious patient named Nicanor, who was plagued by fear in social settings. He dares not come into the company for fear he should be misused, disgraced, overshoot himself in gestures or speeches, or be sick. He thinks every man is observing him (Jefferson, 2001, p. 4). The combination of cognitive restructuring and Systematic Desensitization helps the client systematically confront fears in a live or imagined environment. Basically there are 2 types of differentiation Vertical and Horizontal also known as Tall Flat Structure. Vertical differentiation, the way an organization designs its hierarchy of authority and creates reporting relationships to connect organizational roles and subunits. Physical Processing Techniques Lab Report Amanda Raper Reviewed by: Cheyenne Mathes April 2, 2015 Forensic Science Analysis Lab Report #3 Physical Processing Techniques Lab Report BACKGROUND In the forensic science field, A Latent Print is an impression of the friction ridge skin of the fingers or palms of the hands that has been transferred to another surface. To break apart the phrase, latent print , the term latent , means hidden and the term print means an indentation or mark left on a surface or soft substance by pressure especially that of a foot or hand. So the phrase latent prints , refers to any print that must be enhanced chemically or physically to be made visible. Another way to define latent print , is simply sweat that is exuded from the body. Friction ridge skin is the only part of the body that doesn t exude oil. The only oil that may be in a latent print has been picked up by touching another area of the body (face or ears for example) or some foreign object. In 1863, Professor Paul Jean Coulier, published his observations that latent prints can be developed on paper by iodine fuming and how to preserve the impressions. However, with the discovery of latent print process in 1863, the first official use of latent prints wasn t until 1933 with the Hamm Kidnapping case. To solve the Hamm Kidnapping case, a Silver Nitrate Method was used. In the Hamm Kidnapping case, the use of the Silver Nitrate Method was the first time this method was successful in obtaining latent prints. Since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Use of Chemical Weapons in the Tokyo Subway Attack Essay The Use of Chemical Weapons in the Tokyo Subway Attack Japan has long enjoyed the enviable reputation of being one of the safest nations in the world. The country has one of the world lowest rates for murder and other violent crime, and the Japanese National Police Agency and local Police forces are often praised as a model of law enforcement efficiency. Tokyo enjoys one of the cleanest, safest and most efficient subway networks in the world. Trains run on precise schedules and accommodate 2.7 billion passengers a year. Some commentators evidently anticipated that the Tokyo attack was a prelude to the issuing of demands by the criminal. Commentators also expressed surprise that, given the toxicity of sarin and the nature of the target, the casualty had not in fact been much higher. Others suggested that the agent may simply have been impure, perhaps deliberately diluted either self protection of the attackers or to keep the number of fatalities low. This theory appeared confirmed by the discovery early on the traces of another substance, acetonitrile (or methyl cyanide), which it could have been used to dilute the gas. Some Unexplained Incidents: In the days following the subway attack, as the casualty toll continued to rise, the Amu Shinri Kyo (or Supreme Truth ), whose leader Shoko Asahara, had in the past shown an interested in chemical and biological warfare. Affirmation of Somaliland is crucial because the encouragement of African action should not become the basis for inaction on the part of the United States. But Somaliland deserves recognition from a purely U.S. centric national security perspective. The United States has always stood to protect the values that it was founded upon. Somaliland, in its entirety fits this impression. Persuasive Essay On Stop And Frisk Parayno, Jay Mard English 105 Professor Zaragoza December 11, 2016 Stop and Frisk Stop and frisk is a tactic designed for reducing crime by allowing police officers to stop and search individuals that may seem suspicious. This law allows police officers to search individuals only if they have reasonable suspicion that a crime might occur or if the suspect is carrying anything illegal or dangerous. Between the years of 2002 and 2016, there have been 5 million stop and streets interrogations, and nine out of 10 individuals who were stopped have been completely innocent ( Stop and Frisk Data ). With that being said, stop and frisk should not continue to be a policing tactic because it is ineffective, it gives too much power to police officers, and promotes racial profiling. One misconception that many believe is that the stop and frisk program brings in many criminals or even those that have potential; however, many stop and frisk incidents were unsuccessful, making the tactic ineffective. According to the NYPD s own report, over 100,000 people were stopped every year since 2002 and every year above 77% were innocent ( Stop and Frisk Data ). In an interview conducted by Amy Goodman for Democracy Now, she interviews a NYPD officer named Adhyl Polanco ( NYPD Officer Risks ). This is representative of the country and obviously most of the world at this time since women movements in Africa were not prominent at the time. The Africans had to worry about their general independence first instead of the rights of women, which is the main reason why there weren t as many women movements towards rights until after independence. Life is not flippant and is not in our hands or under our authority to bring into or take out of existence. That alone is God s power and His authority. Mass shootings and terrorist attacks are an abomination to God because it shows people taking God s role and authority and applying it to their own wicked, fallen, and human selves. Another principle violated during those forty years was beneficence, which is an obligation to help others or to do good. It could be argued that this study was conducted in order to do good, at least for white people if they learned more about syphilis, but beneficence actually signifies producing good, not just some good (Kohl, 2001). Another strong clue that what happened in Tuskegee was unethical was that it did not follow the framework for research provided in the Belmont Report, where two major pieces included of which are justice and a respect for persons (Miracle, 2016). Recruits are potential future teammates and if they are on campus that means our coaches are interested in them. It is then our job to sell our program to these recruits. In doing so, we only share positive things about our school. Once these recruits sign the dotted line and join our team at IUPUI they learn for themselves that we may have stretched the truth. For some, this is where they start to shy away. Becoming a member of a new team can be hard. You have to meet over 10 people who all already know each other, and you aren t quite sure of where you fit in. Can you see how a team can fall back into the forming ... • 36. Inmate Suicide In Jail In American jails there is a frightening amount of inmate suicides that occur, and seem to stay under the radar and unspoken about. There are many different contributing factors that can lead to an inmate ultimately choosing to take his or her own life. Being sentenced to jail can be difficult for various inmates to handle and one can have a risk of developing a mental illness if he or she has not already been diagnosed as mentally ill. A mental illness can become a battle with one s self that some cannot win, and only see darkness ahead. Inmates being confined in jail can lead to a breaking point, which is suicide. Other factors include inmates being stressed out and fearing imprisonment. Jails across the United States have to take initiative regarding inmate suicides or else the suicide rates could increase. Without treatment, awareness, and prevention there will be no improvement in decreasing the amount of inmate suicides. The conversation of inmate suicide has to be had between jail officials, inmates, and society because there is help out there and everyone must know that it is not cowardly to ask for help. They were sharply focused, the lines and colors being so sharp that they seemed more real to me than anything I had ever seen with my own eyes. I felt that I was now seeing plain, whereas ordinary vision gives us an imperfect view; I was seeing the archetypes, the Platonic ideas, that underlie the imperfect images of everyday life. • 38. Pluto s Life As A Planet Pluto s life as a planet was very short, lasting only 75 years which is less than a third of its orbital period. While Pluto independently orbits the sun in a spheroidal shape two classifications for being considered a planet Pluto lost its title with the discovery of Eris. Pluto also travels on a different plane than the rest of the planets, and because it has an extremely elliptical orbit, it occasionally crosses Neptune s orbital path and, therefore, is occasionally closer to Earth than Neptune (Countdown, 2011). As a dwarf planet Pluto is the only binary planet in the system due to one of its five moons being half of its size. Pluto, the ninth planet in our solar system, was mourned by many when astronomers decided in 2006 that it did not fit the definition of a planet. With the discovery of Eris (a dwarf planet bigger than Pluto) in 2005, it is easy to understand why astronomers finally ruled out Pluto as a planet. However, there has been a debate as to whether or not Pluto should be allowed back. The biggest downside to claiming Pluto as a planet again is that astronomers will have to classify other dwarf planets as a part of our solar system, forcing children to memorize at least 25 planets instead of eight (Lemonick, 2014). Whether or not it becomes a planet again, we will still be expanding our knowledge of the dwarf planet and its moons, as well as its impact in our solar system. Family is very important in Buddhism (Chen, 2016). In Buddhism, the meaning of human history is to achieve Nirvana. Spiritual Perspective on Healing In Christianity, physical and spiritual healing is found through Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate healer and only through His will can we be healed. (Stanley, 2014). In Buddhism, healing is found more through Karma. If one has been living a good life, he or she will have good karma and they are less likely to get sick. However, if they have been living a bad life, he or she will have bad karma, and that is the reason they get sick (Chen, 2016). In my opinion, I believe that a person is healed through Jesus Christ. Getting sick is not a punishment from God, it is a natural occurrence. By praying for healing, one can get healed. There are some instances in which He won t heal us, but that is because He is ready for us to come home to be with Him. Critical Components of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Jungle Books The First Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book is a collection of short stories, several of which have the same protagonist, by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1894 and 1895 respectively. The stories that are relevant to this essay take place in the jungles of India and in a bungalow in the 19th century. The Mowgli stories tell the story of a boy, found and raised in the jungle, whose primal life is full of adventures, all the while struggling with his own humanity. Meanwhile, Rikki Tikki Tavi is about a mongoose, separated from his relatives, who ends up with a British family whom he must save from the local fauna. As we have seen, the English are the ones who provide safety and protection for those who need their help, and the animals and Mowgli both represent the inhabitants of the Raj. While this is the case, imperialism is more apparent in the tale of Rikki Tikki Tavi than The Jungle Books. It is easier to compare Rikki Tikki s story with that of India s during colonial times, as the symbols are clearer and the plot seems historically telling. Additionally, Mowgli share some similarities with Kipling s childhood, both being born (...) a god among mere mortals, struggling to find a real home. Jessica reasons out that such strategies of learning might lead to injuries on the physical and psychological level. A Planar Dual Band Filter based on the Reduced Length Parallel Coupled Lines Seungku Lee and Yongshik Lee, Member, IEEE Sowmya Ravichandran Review paper summary: A Dual Band Filter is obtained by cascading the reactively loaded parallel coupled lines of reduced length ( 〖90〗^0).The proposed filter have same electrical performance at both the passbands at frequencies f1 and mf1, where m is the frequency of separation between the two passbands. This provides simple, low cost and high performance filter with multiple bands. Introduction: Multiple channels are used by most of the modern communication devices. So ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ports 2 and 3 can be made open or short. This design operates only at one frequency (f1).The equation for designing this filter is derived by even and odd mode analysis. The bandwidth of the filter with dual band is less compared to the conventional filter with single frequency of operation. This reduction in bandwidth is due to the Shunt stubs which are used to load the parallel coupled lines. Novel Design: The electrical length of the coupled line is reduced to 〖34.84〗^0 . This decrease in length can be obtained only by increasing the frequency of separation m to 4.167.Hence the passband frequencies thus obtained are 2.4GHz and 10GHz.The even and mode impedances of the coupled line and the impedance of the shunt stub are calculated using the filter design equations. The shunt impedance value is found to be decreased when compared to filter with length 〖56.8421〗^0.The bandwidth at both the frequencies are increased to 216MHz for a filter with 9% fractional bandwidth at 2.4GHz and 2.16% fractional bandwidth at 10GHz.Thus a reduced length filter would have increased bandwidth and decreased stub impedance. A graph is plotted for frequency Vs insertion loss. The insertion loss is found to be 0.66dB at 2.4GHz and 19.8dB at 10GHz.A better insertion loss of 2.9dB is obtained with a little shift in the frequency at 12.1GHz.
