Cause And Effect College Essay
Writing a Cause and Effect College Essay is no easy feat; it demands a delicate balance between
analytical thinking, research prowess, and effective communication. The intricacies lie not only in
dissecting the causal relationships but also in presenting a compelling narrative that resonates
with the reader.
Firstly, identifying the root causes and their subsequent effects requires meticulous research and
a deep understanding of the subject matter. This involves delving into various sources, from
scholarly articles to real-world examples, to construct a solid foundation for the essay. The
complexity intensifies as the interconnected web of causes and effects often requires a nuanced
approach, avoiding oversimplification.
Structuring the essay poses its own set of challenges. Crafting a coherent and logical flow from
cause to effect, or vice versa, necessitates a strategic arrangement of ideas. The writer must
strike a balance between presenting a comprehensive overview and delving into specific details
to illustrate the connections effectively.
Moreover, maintaining a formal and academic tone throughout the essay is crucial. The language
must be precise, and the writer needs to employ a vocabulary that conveys causality without
losing the reader's interest. The challenge is not only to inform but also to engage, making the
topic accessible to a broader audience.
The revision process is equally demanding. Ensuring clarity, eliminating redundancies, and
refining the argumentative structure are essential steps towards a polished essay. It requires a
critical eye to detect any lapses in logic or areas where the causal relationships might be unclear.
In conclusion, crafting a Cause and Effect College Essay is a formidable task that demands
intellectual rigor, effective research skills, and adept writing capabilities. It is a process that
challenges not only the writer's analytical prowess but also their ability to communicate complex
ideas coherently. Yet, it's a challenge worth undertaking, as the end result can be a thought-
provoking piece that contributes meaningfully to the academic discourse.

Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge
Introduction
The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price
volatility. Estimations from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests
that the predominance of herding behavior may explain why the financial system in
1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120 months or 33% of the time (Persaud,
2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market ownership of
institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for
advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in
hopes that it that would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors
in the financial market. However such claims are not fully supported by empirical
research in the literature. Two schools of thoughts emerge the first being that herding
enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that herding initiates short term
trend reversals.
The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of
scholarly competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject
leading to conflicts in assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and
methodology often arise due to rational definitional irregularities on institutional
herding. An example of such a definitional irregularity occurs when as Avery defined
herd behavior as a trade by an informed agent which follows the trend in past trades
even though that trend is counter to his
The World System Theory And Developmental Studies
Forces of globalization are real and their influences are felt everywhere. It entails free
trade, free mobility of both financial and real capital, and rapid diffusion of products,
technologies, and information and consumption patterns. As indicated in the 1999
World Survey
on the Role of Women in Development, in the age of globalization, Governments
policy choices
have shifted in favor of openness of trade and financial flow. Policies calling for
lighter
regulation of industry, privatization of state owned enterprises and lower public
spending have
characterized the programs of governments around the world. The world systems
theory, social
movement theory and developmental studies should take account of female labor and
of
oppositional transnational feminist networks.
So how did we come about this issue of economic inequality in terms of the labor
force?
The employment of women has had many cultural repercussions and entails gender
conflicts.
During the 1980 s the increasing participation of women in the labor force in Middle
Eastern
Countries was accompanied by subtle presumes on them to conform to religious
dictates
concerning dress. In Egypt many professional women came to work in modest
dresses which
were to cover their head. One may hypothesis that in the earlier stage of the Islamist
movement,
the influx of women in the work force raised fears of competition with men, leading
to calls for
the domestication of women. In the current stage
Responses when Confronted with the Sacred and Secular...
The popular author Chaim Potok struggled throughout his life with the sacred
(Jewish religion and tradition) and the secular world. Potok suggested four possible
responses for a person who faces confrontation with the sacred thought system and the
secular thought system. First, the lockout response: a person escapes the conflict by
erecting impenetrable barriers between the sacred and the secular and then remains
in just one system. Second, compartmentalization: a person creates separate
categories of thought that coexist in what he called a tenuous peace. Third, complete
fusion: a person takes down all walls and allows the sacred and secular cultures to
freely mix with each other, perhaps leading to a radically new seminal culture. ...

According to Potok, this leaves one remaining response, ambiguity and uncertainty.
Two years ago Don Colton (Professor in Computer and Information Science) gave a
fine lecture on ambiguity. I refer you to his lecture for more on how ambiguity is a
part of our lives. Although I agree that we must live with some degree of ambiguity, I
feel uncomfortable resigning myself or others to a multitude of questions with no
intention of searching for answers. This approach goes counter to our natural desire
to seek for truth. It seems a rather lazy way to respond to conflict. There will
undoubtedly be discrepancies between the secular and the sacred that will not be
answered in our lifetime, but searching for truth has its own rewards.. By examining
and working with the seemingly opposing thoughts, we may find undiscovered truths
that otherwise would not have been sought.
I believe there must be a fifth alternative for responding to discrepancies between the
sacred and secular. This approach is the eternal perspective that is taught in the
scriptures and in the temple. It is the realization that, when there are conflicting ideas,
we must continue to search
Toward A Recovery Of Nineteenth Century Farming
Handbooks
Toward a Recovery of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks
While researching texts written about nineteenth century farming, I found a few
authors who published books about the literature of nineteenth century farming,
particularly agricultural journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures. These
authors often placed the farming literature they were studying into an historical
context by discussing the important events in agriculture of the year in which the
literature was published (see Demaree, for example). However, while these authors
discuss journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures, I could not find much
discussion about another important source of farming knowledge: farming
handbooks. My goal in this paper is to bring this source into the agricultural literature
discussion by connecting three agricultural handbooks from the nineteenth century
with nineteenth century agricultural history. To achieve this goal, I have organized
my paper into four main sections, two of which have sub sections. In the first section,
I provide an account of three important events in nineteenth century agricultural
history: population and technological changes, the distribution of scientific new
knowledge, and farming s influence on education. In the second section, I discuss
three nineteenth century farming handbooks in connection with the important events
described in the first section. I end my paper with a third section that offers research
questions that could be answered in
Large Hail Analysis
Upon reading The Frequency of Large Hail over the Contiguous United States by
Schaefer et al., I discovered that the abstract was both informative and confusing.
This abstract was about the quality of the hail occurrence records and the
geographical tendencies that could be found in those records. While the abstract was
interesting and highlighted flaws in the data collection method, the abstract itself
could have used some improvements. The abstract began with detailing Stan
Changnon s proclivity at studying hail occurrences. Following this was an
explanation of the hail data collection process of the Storm Prediction Center (SPC).
The authors then illustrated that records of hailfall were separated into discrete size
categories that were compared to common objects. They acknowledged that the data
records were subject to bias from technology and population distributions. For
example, they found that updating weather radars increased hail reports, while
urbanization biased reports away from rural areas. Schaefer et al. also showed that
occurrences of small hail comprised the majority of all... Show more content on

could have improved in this extended abstract. On several occasions, they used
abbreviations without definitions. Some of these included AMS , AUG , NCDC and
NWS . Though these abbreviations would have been common knowledge in the
meteorology community, they should have still been defined with their first use.
Another off putting tendency was that the authors referred to Changnon by his first
name, which was especially strange since they later referred to him by his last
name. Furthermore, there were what appeared to be a few typographical errors in
the abstract. For example, in Figures 4, 6, and 7, the nautical mile unit is abbreviated
as nim instead of nmi . Additionally, the tense was not constant in the first paragraph.
These changes would have been relative easy for the authors to
Palestrina s Role In The Counter-Reformation
Palestrina s role in the Counter Reformation was to write music that could be used
in the chapel. On April 28, 1565 singers of the papal chapel were brought together
at the home of Cardinal Vitellozzi to test to see if words could be understood in
the songs. People don t know if Palestrina s Missa Papae Marcelli was performed
there or not. But some suggestions say that it was copied in a choirbook later on.
Palestrina was involved in composing some works for the chapel and evidence
increases that some compositions that he has written and is to write is for use of the
chapel. Another role that Palestrina had in the Counter Reformation was to work on
the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. Palestrina
never completed this project... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The revisions ended up being made by Felice Anerio and Francesco Soriano. The
revisions made are what Palestrina would have. Some of the revisions that he
made can be seen in some chants of the 1582 Directorum Chori. The first song,
Kyrie, I have actually heard before because one of the choirs in my high school
sang it for one of there songs. The song has a very nice flow to it and seems like a
song that is sung in a church somewhere. I looked up what the word Kyrie means
and found from dictionary.com that it means, Lord, have mercy .(SDFAS) The
second song ,Gloria, was also a very smooth flowing song. With all of the different
parts in it, it makes it sound very good. Palestrina did very well on both of the
pieces. Palestrina had a couple of roles in the Counter Reformation. One was to
write music that could be used in the chapel. Another one was he had to work on
the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. Listening to
two of Palestrina s works was very neat. After hearing Kyrie on here from what i
heard from my choir in high school was neat to hear the differences. Palestrina did
very well on both pieces that I listened

Essay on Collapse Final
Collapse Final
Question One In his book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, Jared
Diamond outlines five factors that may lead to a societal collapse: climate change,
hostile neighbors, loss of trading partners, environmental damage, and a society s
response to its problems. The climate change Diamond is talking about here refers to
natural fluctuations in weather; fifty years of great weather can lead to a population
boom, but followed by fifty years of bad weather it can lead to collapse caused by
lack of food. Before things were written down, word of mouth was how information
got passed down; there is a time limit to living memory and a society could forget
that the climate of the place they inhabited didn t ... Show more content on

All of these factors, with the exception of the introduction of alien species, are rooted
in overpopulation relative to the capacity of the environment. According to
Diamond, there are two methods to prevent collapse; the bottom up method and
the top down method. The Bottom up method is most effective in small societies
where everyone knows and is accountable to their neighbors. This allows for the
community to create and implement a solution to its own issues. The Top down
method is meant for bigger societies with bigger government, like the U.S. Unlike
with the bottom up method, the people are not concerned with the well being of
the entire group; they do not have an overview of the entire society. However, a
ruler does, and also has the ability to impose rules and regulations on their society
to preserve the environment for future generations. Societies that choose to
implement these methods have a better success rate than those that do not. Also
factored into the success of a society is the fragility of the environment, and
choosing an economy to fit that environment. As discussed in class, Diamond uses
the method of cherry picking to prove his theories. Basically, he picks and chooses
which facts to include in his book to best support his theories. It is impossible for
him to list all of the evidence for the collapse of a society

Industrial America from the American Steel Industry to the Early 1970 s
The steel industry has been profoundly important to the development of USA by its
value of output, input to the American manufacturing industries and in terms of the
extent of its employment in the past. It s been important because of its political clout
of its corporations and finally it s been important for strategic reasons.
Background to the American Steel Industry
The industry dates from mid 19th century when it grew out of the iron industry. There
was huge demand for steel following the end of the Civil War and the building of the
great trans continental railway. The industry centred in Pittsburgh where the classic...

Appalachian deposits of iron ore become very much depleted and development of
ore deposits to the West of Lake Superior was accelerated. The Mesabi Range ores
has been worked by Rockefeller since 1892. Open cast production kept costs low, as
did the great and advances in ore carriers which transported the ores east wards
through the Great Lakes. Technological advance allowed lower grade taconite ores to
be beneficiated and so enabled them to bear the transport costs to the steel mills
further east.
Demand for Steel: This continued to rise in aggregate throughout much of the first
half of the 20th century. The nature of the demand altered however. Much less steel
was now needed for rails, but structural steel became increasingly important as did
rods, wire, tubes and pipes; steel was needed for tinplate and also very significant
amounts were demanded by the transport industries.
Organisation of the industry: At the turn of the century, there was much horizontal
integration and merger activity reflecting, amongst other things, a desire to reduce
competition and to increase the scale of enterprises. Some companies became
involved in vertical integration, being particularly anxious to secure their supplies of
coking coal and iron ore (the US relied very heavily on indigenous

Have you always wanted to learn how to cross country ski? For years I have

The Nordic area parking lot is a separate area, so be careful to watch for directional

energy and vibrancy to the Nordic area. Bright coloured toques and snowsuits coupled
with squeals of delight from kids in the sliding area welcome you. I enjoyed watching
the little ones tube and slide, something about that youthful energy is invigorating.
Despite enjoying the antics of the little ones, I couldn t procrastinate much longer.
It was time to face the music and meet my cross country ski instructor. I was
surprised to feel nervous, after all how difficult could cross country skiing be? For
years, I have avidly watched the Olympic Winter Games and the cross country
athletes appear to circumnavigate the course without difficulty. Surely I would be
able to kick, stride and glide with the best of them. My fearless instructor Bryon
introduced himself to the group and welcomed us to our session. With a calm
confidence he assured us that we would love our new sport and be tackling the trails
in no time. Hesitantly, I followed Bryan and within seconds I was on the ground

The website, therefore, is perceived as a communication channel that promoting the

suggest that it is necessary to explore firms websites because they are a mode of
communication by which firms interact with stakeholders. Hence, this study
investigates 34 oil and gas firms websites and attempts to provide an in depth analysis
regarding how these firms present their CSR information through websites.
The investigation is limited to the contents concerning CSR rationales, themes, and

information is searched from homepage , about us , and CSR/sustainability section .
Therefore, the unit of analysis is the combination of homepage , about us , and CSR

Women s Rights in the Workplace in the 1920 s The 1920 s led to many
advancements for women in the workforce, however, their rights were still
extremely limited. During this time is was believed that women should stay out of
the workforce, that was just for the men. According to beliefs of that time women
should be full time housewives . Women had just received the right to vote and
some women had given up on changing the way the world perceived women. This,
however, was untrue for some women, the 1920 s sparked the fight for equal rights
in the workplace. Women began to see themselves in a different light they changed
their appearance, their self concept, and began to fight for equality. It was a long
fight, the 1920 s was just the start.Women were restricted from working in many
places, had unequal pay compared to men, and had many struggles with maternity
leave and childcare. Women s job opportunities were very limited during the 1920
s, laws were set that prohibited them from working in certain jobs and conditions.
Common jobs that women had were teachers, social workers, nurses and librarians.
During the rise of the corporate office, new jobs opened up for women. Some of
these jobs included; typists, filing clerks, stenographers, and some secretarial

Class Differences in Blood Brothers, by Willy Russell Essay
Willy Russell creates a play to show us the class differences that existed in
Liverpool in the 1980 s. He does this by showing us the contrasting lives of the two
boys and their mothers. Mrs Lyons has an easy life and Mrs Johnston has a hard
life and has to work hard to earn a living. The same applies to the boys as Mickey
has the hard life and Eddie has the easy life. Willy Russell also shows us that
education, living conditions, housing and wealthcan be affected as a direct result of
your class and social background. This meant that the people from working class
backgrounds had a harder life because they didn t have the same opportunities.

She is trying to earn a living as a cleaner which is a poor job and she is struggling

Finally Russell shows us that she is in such a desperate situation that she ends up
giving her child away. This makes you feel sorry for her because she is on her own
and has to cope with everything herself.
This tells us that because of her social background her life chances are limited.
Russell shows us she is uneducated through her superstition. Today if a woman is
left alone then she gets help from the government through income support, child
benefit and other kinds of financial backing. But at this time the government didn t
offer financial help to the people so many people like Mrs Johnston suffered. But
life is still not equal because many people still can t afford designer clothes or afford
to send their children to private school.
This has changed now because then the government didn t provide any financial
help for single mums. Also at this time there were high levels of redundancies and
unemployment. This meant it was harder for her to get a job and provide for her
family. When she says Next week

Child Soldiers in Sierra Leone
Africa in Cinema Final Paper Professor Rice May 2010 Child Soldiers in Sierra
Leone This semester, the topic of Child Soldiers presented a very interesting
dilemma that several countries in Africa continue to face today. Sierra Leone, in
particular, has struck an interest because of the many films and readings that try
to depict this story of the civil war. In class, we have viewed two films representing
the problems with child soldiers in Sierra Leone which include films titled Blood
Diamond and Ezra. Both films represent opposite sides of the spectrum, as Blood
Diamond shows the Western view of child soldiers and Ezra represents the first
African view of child soldiers. Before discussing the two films, there are also two...

Their minds are controlled by the RUF and if they did not comply with the orders
of the organization they were immediately killed. This type of life is so
unimaginable but still continues as we speak. In Blood Diamond, the western
view of this miserable story of Sierra Leone is depicted. Having viewed the film
several times I now understand the real reason behind the film. Because it is in a
western, Hollywood view, the film can only keep the attention of the viewers if
there is some kind of white influence. With that said, even though the story of child
soldiers is what is meant to be depicted, the love story between a South African
Journalist and an American diamond smuggler is what is represented instead.
Instead of focusing on the true matter at hand, Hollywood insists on using the
talents of Leonardo Di Caprio to misrepresent the issues over diamonds in Sierra
Leone. In the film, it is misleading to see how savage like the children of Sierra
Leone are made out to be. The story almost seemed too good to be true in the film

Stones River Battlefield Review
I visited the Stones River Battlefield located in Murfreesboro, TN. I chose this
locating, because it was close and convenient for me to explore in between classes
one day. I actually learned quite a bit about the land and what took place there in
1862. Some information was giving to me shortly after I enter their visitor center,
and I was guided in the right direction to help me with my paper. I didn t prepare
myself too much prior to my visit, due to the fact I really had nothing in mind that
I thought I needed to do besides wear a good pair of tennis shoes to walk around
the reservoir and of course bring a friend. I learned that the battlefield is
considered 650 acres and around 23,515 men died during this three day period
(Daniel). I had no idea this place was that big, and I definitely realized it once I
begin exploring the land on foot. The scenery is such a beautiful place to just
unwind, go for a jog, or have a peaceful environment to relax one day. The best part
about the Stones River Battlefield is that it is free to the public to go and explore
around to learn about the civil war. The beginning of my trip I started out at the
visit center and actually spent most of my time there. As soon as I walked in I was
greeted by an elderly man who was very enthusiastic about his job. The experience
was very welcoming and the employees were very helpful. The man pointed me in
the direction to a movie room, which is where I began. It was a short movie briefing

Antibiotics In The 1940 s
Antibiotics have played an essential role in the fight against diseases and infections
since the 1940 s. Antibiotics are a leading cause for the rise of global average life
expectancy in the 20th and 21st century. They have greatly reduced illnesses and
deaths due to diseases. With the introductions of antibiotics in the 1940 s, like
penicillininto clinical practice, formally deadly illnesses became immediately
curable and saved thousands of lives (Yim 2006). Antibiotic use has been beneficial
and when prescribed and taken correctly their effects on patients are exceedingly
valuable. However, because these drugs have been used so widely and for such a
long period of time the bacteriathat the antibiotics are designed to kill have adapted,...

Little research has been done on human superbugs but even less on antibiotic
resistance in animals and whether the bacteria can be passed on to humans (Press
Release 1998). The problem with the growing number of bacteria that are resistance
to available antibiotics, is that there are very few new antibiotics in development.
The financial costs of creating newer and stronger antibiotics are exceedingly high.
Pharmaceutical manufactures either don t have the money or refuse to because of
the small amount of profit they will make from these one off drugs. Research
institutes are another option for new antibiotics but also don t have the sufficient
financial support (Kesselheim 2010). Antibiotic resistant patients require extensive
care and there are rare cases that they need complete isolation. The cost of this
intensive care for long periods of time is phenomenal. With growing rates of
resistance cases more isolation units are going to be in need which will cost
governments hundreds, even thousands of dollars to provide (Lansing 2011). The
economic factors of antibiotic resistance for developing world countries are
worrying. Some counties health systems have no where near enough financial
support or staff members to help the number of superbug patients (Kaier 2011). The
economic implications of the growing rates of superbug cases is concerning.
Globally there is very

People of the world are in need to find and develop new sources of energy to power
their lives. Owing to the increasing demand for electrical energy, world s fossil fuel
supply will thus be depleted in a few decades. Hence, alternative or renewable
sources of energy have to be developed to meet the future energy requirement. Grid
connected wind capacity is undergoing through fastest rate of growth compared to
any other form of renewable power generation, achieving global annual growth rates
of 20 30 %. The power electronic converters play a major role in wind energy
conversion system for controlling and conditioning of output power from wind
energy. During last few years matrix converters and multi level converter topologies
have generated significant interest. This paper discusses the diode clamped multilevel
matrix converter design for double fed induction generator based wind energy
conversion system. The MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used for analyzing the
converter performance.

Examples Of Marketing Ethics In The Body Shop
Marketing Ethics The Body Shop
Introduction
This essay is about discussing the ethicality of a company s marketing activity. First
of all, it needs to be defined what ethical activity is. Ethical marketing can bring
advantages and disadvantages to the company. It can help to improve the brand image
of the company and develop a trust with the customers. On the other hand, it cannot
ensure that can increase the company s sales or have a possibility to increase the
advertising cost. In the following discussion, an international cosmetic firm, The
Body Shop, is chosen to be the target.
Marketing activity of The Body Shop
The Body Shop put a great effort into ethical marketing. It is doing several campaigns
which are related to ethics including Against AnimalTesting, Support Community
Fair Trade, Activate Self Esteem, Defend Human Rights and Protect The Planet.
These are also the values of the company. And now, it is going to discuss two selected
ethical marketing activities of them, which are Against Animal Testing and Support
Community Fair Trade .
Against Animal Testing
It is known that most of the cosmetic products need to be tested for safety reasons
before publishing. Some companies are testing their products on animals that cause
the animals suffering cruelties. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ethical activities can bring benefits to them. These help to build a trustful
relationship with the consumers, improve the corporate image and cultivate the
loyalty of the customers through the ethical marketing. Furthermore, it can draw
people s attention on the animal testing affair and arouse their awareness when
buying cosmetic products. One hand the suppliers and workers can have a fair
trading, on the other hand, they can create the new product line for the organic
products and build the positive image to the consumers. Both of them can gain
benefits from the ethical marketing
Symbolism In Gathering Blue
Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry is set in a dystopian future. In the book the human
race has drastically reduced in number and size. In Gathering Blue the world was
at its edge and about to break. It is protected and ruled by the Council of Guardians
but only the well and healthy were allowed to live. Kira had injured her foot
critically and when a lady saw it things started to go very wrong. Because of being
spotted Kira had to present herself to The Council luckily she was forgiven for her
extraordinary weaving talents. Which lead to her new job, the threader. There were
many symbolic objects in Gathering Bluebut the main three were The Blue, The
Singers Robe, and The Beasts. The Blue represents, hope peace, and selflessness.
The Blue was first introduced to Kira when she had learned the art of weaving. She
could feel the emotions of the colors. The Blue adds a significant amount of
meaning to the story and plot. The Blue is to help and save the community from
the mere corruption. Gather fresh leaves from first year s growth of woad. And soft
rainwater; that makes the blue...I have nought. Others do, but they be far away

Parks Victoria did not dictate a rigid brief but instead asked Hansen Partnership to
create a unique experience for the visitors. (Ricardo, 2014)

There was very little existing site material available, the designers documented the
site walking and mapped the area from scratch to propose possible path alignments
along the way. Rather than crossing the river below the falls and leading up to the
ridge line as it did before, the path would take visitors through the base of the valley,
as close to the river as possible. (Ricardo, 2014)
To minimalize the linearity of the project heavier and more visually dominant
elements were discarded. Thus the presence of the trail is not always constant and it
blends in with the surroundings. The bridges and the elevated walkways meander
through a cool microclimate created by a field of fallen rocks lying next to an
escarpment wall.
We wanted the bridge to follow the escarpment wall and gave instruction to make
sure the rock wall was always within arm s length. explains Anton Malishev, senior

Although the consumption of large quantities of alcoholic beverages can increase the
risk of certain cancers, it is increasingly clear that the health benefits of red wine are
linked to its non alcoholic components. The red wine contains a very powerful
molecule known as resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant, commonly found in the skin

Steven Spielberg Essay
Steven Spielberg It is hard to imagine a person who has not heard of Steven
Spielberg. He is one of the most renown, if not the most renown, American
filmmakers of the century. His films have captivated and helped develop
imaginations of contemporary society and remain among the most successful films
ever made.
Spielberg was born in Cincinnati on December 18th, 1946. His father was an
electrical engineer, and his mother a concert pianist. Steven seemed to get the best
elements from both of them. Spielberg had an early fascination with cinema and
began making amateur films at a very young age. At 13, he won a local contest for
his 40 minute film, Escape to Nowhere. Ironically, Steven was unable to get into a
film school, so he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1998, Spielberg came out with Saving Private Ryan, which captured war in gory
and shocking detail as his soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy. This again
shows his willingness to deal with larger, more serious issues.
Further profiting as a producer of other directors its like Poltergeist, Back to the
Future and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Spielberg became one of the richest and
most powerful players in Hollywood. In 1984, he founded Amblin Entertainment
and used the E.T. logo as its trademark. While this was doing well, Spielberg
wanted more control over his projects and did not want any other studios
interfering with his work. In 1994, along with several other industry hotshots, they
created the first new movie studio in Hollywood in over 75 years Dreamworks.
The company covers all its bases and produces live action and animated movies,
music, computer games, arcades, television productions, and distribution. Spielberg
owns approximately 22% of Dreamworks and he is worth around 1 billions dollars.
His average salary is $238 million a year!
A defining characteristic of a Steven Spielberg movie is the elaborate costs of
making movies, huge box office returns, and many award nominations. For example,
Jurassic Park was a special effects laden adaptation of Michael Crichton dinosaur
disaster novel of the same game that cost $70 million to
The Use of Dramatic, Situational, and Verbal Irony in...
In the play Othello, Shakespeare uses many literary devices to help the reader
understand the theme of the story. One of those many literary devices used in the
play, is the wide range of irony. Throughout the pages of the book the reader will
see the use of dramatic, situational, and verbal irony. Shakespeare does not use
irony in an understated way, it is very direct, and can be found on almost every
page of the book. The use of irony creates suspense, and adds interest as to what will
happen. There are many examples of situational irony in Othello. One big example
that went throughout the story was the triangle of Cassio, Othello, and Iago. Iago
wanted Cassio dead, while Othello promoted Cassio to a higher position, and later in

A third example of irony in the play is the use of war. In real life Othello is actually
fighting a war, and he is the leader that is in the topmost position. While on the
other hand, there is a war in Othello s head. He is fighting amongst himself, trying
to see if Desdemona is really cheating on him or not. This is the war he loses. The
verbal irony used in the play is sometimes zany. Some of the lines are found to be
the exact opposite of what is actually the truth, but in such a manner is drives the
audience crazy. This is especially found between Iago and Othello. Othello would
be found saying things as: Honest Iago . . . (V.II.92), I know, Iago, Thy honesty
and love doth mince this matter (II.III.263). Iago has poured his poison into
Othello and made him truly deem that he is his friend and protector. It shows how
much trust Othello has in Iago, and shows the reader how it is going to waste. One
line that shows great irony is: O, beware, my lord, of jealousy! It is the green eyed
monster, which doth mock the meat it feeds on (III.III.195 96). But the whole
reason Iago wants to ruin Othello is because he is jealous, yet he counsels Othello on
the matter instead. In the end, Othello does kill his wife because he in fact is jealous.
Verbal irony is found throughout this play probably the most. It adds a bit of humor
while tormenting the characters, who don t know the truth. Dramatic irony is key

Marine Corps Leadership Essay
Marine Corps Leadership NonCommissioned Officers are the backbone of the
Marine Corps. Each leader is very different from the other. Some Marines enjoy
being a corporal only because of the increase in rank and pay. A few become the
tactless leaders junior Marines try to avoid. Fortunately, many others strive to become
the leader that other Marines wish to emulate. They know what it means to be a good
leader. Those Marines have the traits of a leader and they get to know their Marines

Tact: It is hard to respect a person when he calls a person out in front of everyone. It
is better to correct a Marine in privacy. This is the leadership trait I need to work
on. Justice: A leader should be fair, and not play favorites with Marines. It is also
important a leader hands out a fair punishment to a disobedient Marine.
Enthusiasm: It is important for leaders to show a good attitude when working on
the mission. If the leaders display good attitude, so will the junior Marines.
Bearing: How a leader conducts himself is how a subordinate will judge his
professionalism. If a leader does not act confident, followers will be unsure of the
leader s ability to execute a mission. Endurance: This is vital mentally and
physically. A leader needs to be able to do the physical tasks be it running boots
and utes or humping for ten miles in order to encourage Marines to do the same.
To do otherwise would be hypocrisy. Mental endurance is equivalent to physical
endurance in its capacity. Unselfishness: A leader needs to be willing to put others
before himself. Send others to chow before himself; send them to the rack before
himself; Loyalty: Respect the Corps, and a leader s Marines. Leaders display their
loyalty to their Marines by taking care of the Marines needs. Judgment: Sound
decisions to ensure successful mission

In Branding the future: Syfy in the post network era, writer Barbara Selznick
delineates Syfy s struggle to broaden its audience without disenchanting its core
supporters. The channel, which airs programming with science fiction themes and
was originally named the Sci Fi Channel, has continually struggled to break out of
its niche and appeal to a larger audience (Selznick, 184). Most of the network s
attempts have failed to do so. For example, its I Am Sci Fi promo spots in 1999
featured Queen Latifah, Richard Branson, and other mainstream celebrities did not
successfully expand the network s audience, and the promos confused its loyal
audience of science fiction aficionados (Selznick, 187). Aside from Battlestar
Galactica, Syfy has lacked a signature show with mass appeal throughout its history,
and its generic scripted series and uninspired alternative programming have
disappointed fans of science fiction. Due to its underdeveloped niche programming
and its inconsistency in its definition of science fiction, Syfy has struggled to
cultivate a core audience. In this era of television, poor branding of a network is
detrimental because, as Selznick states, Brand equity, in the end, leads to consumer
loyalty (Selznick, 181). Without a cohesive brand, broadcast and cable networks alike
confuse audiences and
America s Worst Failure Of Prohibition In The United States

A Central Bank May Be Defined As A National Bank That...
A central bank may be defined as a national bank that provides financial and
banking services for the country s government. A central bank is different to a
commercial bank such as Barclays or RBS whose main objective is profit
maximisation. There are many central banks across the world, each one providing
services for their own country. For example, the Bank of England is the central bank
of England which was established in 1694, the Federal Reserve is the central bank
of the USA and that was established in 1914. Although they all differ in terms of
which government they provide a service for, their roles as central banks remain
quite similar. The two primary goals of most if not all central banks are to achieve
monetary stability and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way this works is that commercial banks assume that not all their customers
would withdraw their deposits simultaneously therefore they lend out large deposits
from their overall reserve with rates in which individuals or businesses would have
to pay back. Central banks on the other hand aim to achieve their objectives using
two distinct tools, each one being used to achieve one of the two objectives. For
example, the monetary policy is used to maintain price stability. Another difference
is that commercial banks do not have the authority or power to apply any policies in
which they can affect the economy as a whole. Rather, they act and make their
business decisions based on the policies given out by the central banks. The central
bank is the only banking agency that is given authority by the government to alter
interest rates and money supply which affects the way the economy would work.
As previously mentioned, the two main objectives of a central bank are to achieve
monetary and financial stability. Monetary stability refers to keeping the level of
inflation in the economy low. Inflation can be defined as the general rise in prices
of goods and services in an economy over a period of time. The inflation target of
the Bank of England is to keep it below 2%. The inflation rate has been below 2%
since early 2014 but prior to this, the inflation

Free Will In The Articles Of Faith By Haneef
Musa (PBUH) had a tough life. Because of his people, he could not enter or die in
Jerusalem. One day, he asked Allah, Ya, Allah! Show me Adam who caused
himself and us to be expelled from heaven. Moses asked Adam why he had eaten
the fruit that God forbade him to and got expelled from paradise. Adam replied to
him that Moses, being a prophet, should not blame him, a mere mortal, for
something that Allah had predestined (Suleiman). This story raised many questions
in my mind. I wondered, If we are predestined to go through a particular situation,
then do we really have free will? If destiny has her own plans, then where do our
choices fit in? For instance, if someone murders a person or commits some crime, is
it okay to punish them, keeping... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, I believe that predestination and free will can coexist. The free will lies
in what a person learns from his experience and what he does after destiny plays
her course. If the murderer owns up to his crime, repents for his sin, asks for
forgiveness from those he wronged and from Allah, then he has passed destiny s
test because he got closer to Allah. Some of the babies who are predestined to be
born in non Muslim families have their whole life full of experiences; they have
the ability to gain knowledge about Islam, but it s up to them whether or not they
follow the religion. Their free will lies in their ability to choose right from wrong.
Adam was destined to come to earth. If it wasn t for eating the fruit from the
forbidden tree, then it would have been another way. But Adam s free will laid in
his decision of begging Allah for mercy, instead of cursing Him. He prayed for 300
years rather than turning away like Satan. Therefore, even with predestined
situations, the idea of free will comes down to what a person learns from his

The aim of this particular essay is to examine and perform an in depth analysis
relating to the theme of sexual temptations within the widely known poem, Goblin
Market, by the Victorian era poet Christina Rossetti. Throughout this particular
poem, Rossetti demonstrates the life of two maidens who live a life surrounded by
sexual temptations; and within this dissertation, I intend to analyze the plethora of
literary devices that Rossetti utilizes in order to portray this theme revolved around
temptation, and the desire to fulfill sexual desires once one has succumbed to the
temptation. The first stanza in the poem itself introduces us to a form of temptation
when it is stated that, Morning and evening / Maids heard the goblins cry: / Come
buy, our orchard fruits, / Come buy, come buy: / Apples and oranges, / Plump
unpecked cherries / Melons and raspberries, / Bloom down cheeked peaches, / Swart
headed mulberries... (1 10). Within the aforementioned list of fruits that the... Show

Lizzie informs Laura that, we must not look at goblin men, / We must not buy their
fruits (42 43), and that their offers should not charm us. / Their evil gifts would
harm us (73 74). Nevertheless, Curious Laura chose to linger / Wondering at each
merchant man (77 78). Here, the readers can most certainly comprehend that both of
the women are vividly aware of the tricks in which the Goblins are attempting to
carry out in order to seduce them. However, Laura is the only one that is quite
intrigued by the thoughts of what the Goblins fruits might taste like or in a sexual
connotation, the sexual pleasures she would obtain by experimenting with the
Goblins genitalia. From this, we can ascertain that giving in to the temptation of
consuming the fruit is considered to be a metaphor for losing one s sexual
Societal Views of Women in the Victorian Era in Henrik...
Societal Views of Women in the Victorian Era in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House
A Doll s House, by Henrik Ibsen, creates a peephole into the lives of a family in the
Victorian Era. The play portrays a female viewpoint in a male dominated society.
The values of the society are described using the actions of a woman, Nora, who
rebels against the injustices inflicted upon her gender. Women s equality with men
was not recognized by society in the late 1800 s. Rather, a woman was considered a
doll, a child, and a servant. Nora s alienation reveals society s assumptions and values
about gender.

She alludes to a child s character when she says, everything I think of seems so silly
and insignificant (26). Torvaldreplies with a condescending statement: Does my
little Nora acknowledge that at last? (26). Torvald expects only childish talk from
her. He even tells her she is little, like a child, and although he expects nothing more
than child s talk from her, he does expect to be obeyed.
Nora plays the part of a slave in her subservience to her husband, for she is
supposed to abide by his rules and be dependent on him. She is not supposed to
think for herself and repeatedly told so by those around her. When speaking about
Nora in her presence, Torvald says, She is so terribly self willed (55). Nora has a
conversation with Mrs. Linde, who also tells her, Don t be self willed (57).
Torvald tells her, I will advise you and direct you (64). Nora is expected to be a
dependent slave who follows her husband s advice and directions. Women were also
legally dependent upon men. The society s laws of that time even required the male
to cosign everything that a woman had to sign. Nora s naivete in forging her father s
signature and trying to pay off the loan further emphasizes Victorian society s
assumptions about women s inability to deal with a man s world.
These assumptions about women caused their gender value to be vastly
Muhammad s Influence On Islam
In the year wchih followed the Revelation, Muhammad began his public preaching.
The first converts include his wife Khadija, cousin Ali, other people closely related
to him, and eventually more people from his own clan of Hashim. At first there was
no sign of opposition against Muhammad s teaching, but as it become more
widespread in Mecca, people start seeing it as a threat to the city s stability.
Muhammads message about a single, all powerful deity negates the legitimacy of the
haram and its idols, puting the holy and neutral status of the site at risk. This
theological clash continued to put pressure on Muhammad and his followers.
However, they receive protection because of the solidity of the clan system. It had
been Abu Talib, Muhammad s uncle, who united the Hashim in support of
Muhammad and protected him for his Meccan opposition.
In 619, both Khadija and Abu Thalib, two of Muhammad s most important protecters
passed away and his opposition became even more bold and determined to pressure
Muhammad. It is important to remember that the previous early success of the spread
of Islam in Mecca could only be achieved because of Muhammad s allegience and
close relationship with these two important Meccan figures. In other words,
Muhammad s kinship paved the way for his teachings to be disemminated within the
Meccan society. As Meccans become more hostile towards Muhammad, he began to
look outside his native city for support. At this crucial point, Muhammad was

Bear Safety
Bears can be cute, but also not. So it s important to know how to be safe. You don t
want to be quiet while you re walking you want to be loud. This lets the bears know
you there. It s not a smart decision to wonder off the flagged trail you want to keep
to the path and not invade their habitat. It s important to keep your food away locked
up and away so it won t attract bears. If you stick to these rules bears can still remain
cute.
Traveling in the backcountry alone is alright, but if you are alone, you really want
to make a lot of noise. This will let the bears know they aren t the only ones
there. This is especially useful by creaks because that s most often where you would
run into a bear.Being in a group is also a good idea, it s already going to be a good
amount of noise already since you re group will all be talking while you re walking.

A wise decision while you re walking through trails is always to carry a bear bell,
bear spray and a bear banger. Those are good things, especially if you re alone when
you re walking. You always want to look for a sign if there has been a bear around
there, you can look for things such as bear droppings, tree scratches and paw tracks.
Every bear loves food of any sort. They have an incredible sense of smell so
anything sweet or food related would attract a bear. When you re camping,
cooking and cleaning you would really should do a good distance away from where
you will be sleeping. Even brushing your teeth the toothpaste is a sweet smell. All
those things will attract bears. For your safety and if you re with anyone else you
really want to keep you cooking stuff, food, anything like that outside your tent.

Dr. Cash And The Depression
This is about Johnny R. Cash and the depression that consumed his life after the
death of his wife Mrs. June Carter Cash who passed away in May 2003. In this
case study you will read about Mr. Cash s life from childhood till present day. The
study will show how I have diagnosed Johnny Cash with Major Depressive
Disorder as well as Alcohol, Stimulant and Sedative Use Disorder from prior drug
and alcohol abuse. It is important to note Johnny states he has been in remission
from drugs and alcohol for 40+ years which classifies as sustained remission. I do
discuss how he can possibly recover from this disorder. I have chosen the method
of family therapy and behavior changes. Mr. Cash will greatly benefit from a
strong support system in contrast to the confinement he has chosen. It is my belief
with family present to offer love and support it will change his thoughts and
destructive behavior. My goal with this type of therapy is to show Johnny that he is
loved and wanted. Also that there is a way to be happy and have peace again and
while overcoming depression and continuing his sustained sobriety. The purpose of
this case study is to reveal that John R. Cash has depression and has suffered from
this disorder for many years. Johnny Cashhas had an interesting past and some of it
hints to signs of previous depression. This study will show that depression can hit
anyone, even those that people admire and want to be like someday.

Gifted Students and Social Stigma Essay
Gifted Students and Social Stigma
Philosopher Benedict Spinoza said, Man is a social animal (Kaplan 278). The desire
for social acceptance, whether recognized or denied, is part of human culture. People
yearn for it, obsess over it, and alter themselves to obtain it. Humans can spend their
entire lives unsuccessfully attempting to achieve a level of social status they believe
will validate them. Acceptance is denied for superficial reasons varying from
clothing to cliques. However, it is also denied due to innate elements of personality.
Stigmatizing others for a natural characteristic not only seems unwarranted but also
unfair. Yet, a stigma is imposed daily on gifted adolescents who neither deserve, nor
know how to deal with, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They want to know what something is but also why it is that way. Teachers can take
this curiosity to be offensive and oftentimes the student is viewed negatively by their
peers due to an adoption of the teacher s negative attitude, thus beginning the social
stigma (Johnson 27).
Another standard, educational treatment of gifted students is to separate them from
the class. Because the gifted student has surpassed the majority the teacher isolates
the child with a separate advanced activity and returns to the majority. In these
situations the gifted student and his/her peers become accustomed to this different
status. The gifted student becomes an outsider in relation to the group by default, due
to his/her above average abilities. Educational treatment of the gift denies the student
the opportunity to learn to socially interact at a young age. Gifted students never
become accustomed to peer interaction because this system is perpetuated upward
throughout the grade levels. And unfortunately, in an educational atmosphere where
grades are a primary focus, poor interpersonal skills are more likely to be tolerated
than poor work related skills (Wolfle 3). It becomes a norm for the student to work
alone and his/her social and psychological needs are ignored.
The students themselves report that one prevailing stigmatism of being gifted is
being neglected, not
Daly Research Paper
There is minimal information regarding Daly s time in the city of New York, but it
is known that he worked at various jobs such as errand boy, hostler, and stevedore
in order to save enough money to buy passage to the city of San Francisco,
California where a sister lived (Shoebotham, 1956), (Encyclopedia of World
Biography, 2004). Upon his arrival in California in 1861, Daly set about making his
fortune. Despite his lack of formal education, Daly was an intelligent, ambitious, and
driven individual (Encyclopedia of World Biography, 2004). During his stay in San
Francisco, he worked odd jobs on farms and truck gardens (Shoebotham, 1956) and it
was here that his future changed forever.
During one of his many jobs, Daly met another young Irishman ... Show more content

Daly remained in Virginia City until mid summer 1869, when a devastating fire broke
out in the Comstock Lode. Daly, realizing that the boom was ending, followed the
hordes of miners seeking riches to various camps in Nevada, such as White Pine,
Mineral Hill, and Eureka (Shoebotham, 1956). The prospects for continued success
were dim and Daly was at a loss as to where to go next. Fortunately, his reputation as
a competent miner and team leader, brought him to the attention of the Walker
Brothers in Salt Lake City, Utah and in 1871, Daly moved to Alta to take charge of
the Emma mine there (Shoebotham, 1956). Under Daly s supervision, the Emma
quickly doubled production and when his instinct told him the mine was playing out,
Daly suggested to the Walker Brothers that they divest themselves of their interest in
the mine (Shoebotham, 1956). They followed his advice and pleased with the results,
the company promoted Daly to superintendent of the Walker Properties in the Ophir
and Dry Canyon districts outside of Salt Lake City, Utah (Shoebotham, 1956). Over
the next several years, the Walker Brothers made good use of Daly s talent by sending
him to various sites throughout the
The Major Causes Of The Recession And The Great
Depression
The major causes of the Recession and the Great Depression were the actions of the
federal government. Before the Great Depression, the Federal Reserve kept interest
rates low in the 1920s and raised interest rates in the early 1930 s. President Hoover
s regulations damaged trade and American exports throughout the 1930s. Finally, the
President signed a large tax increase into law in 1932, which hurt businesses and
affected everyone. The suicide rate was increased after the Great Depressionbegan
and a similar increase was seen in the years after the Recession. The rate
homelessness was increased after the Recession because a lot of people lost their
jobs and couldn t afford rent. Similarly, during the Depression, people lost their
homes or often moved into small apartments that they shared with other families.
During the Depression, people went on bread lines and to soup kitchens, took turns
eating for the day, survived by eating very small meals. After the Recession, more
people filed for unemployment applied for food stamps and seek out other
government programs like WIC, which gives federal grants to feed and take care of
low income children. During the years of Depression, birth rates dropped and
children suffered from malnutrition.
In many ways, President Hoover s policies let the Depression happen. Previous
Presidents like Roosevelt and Obama responded similarly to the crises; talked
about balancing the federal budget, but instead resorted to massive spending by
introducing new programs. One major difference between the Recession and the
Depression was that the government was not very quick to help the public but
government stepped in very quickly to stop damage during the Recession. Today,
the government is expected to step in when the crisis of this sort happens but in
the 1930 s there were very different expectations because people blamed the
unemployed men and women when it was very clear that the government had to
have played a role to play in the making of the crisis as well. FDR s New Deal is
traditionally described as Relief, Recovery, and Reform. The Banking Act was a
statute enacted by the United States Congress that established the Federal Deposit
Insurance
Neil s Maturity In A Lost Lady By Willa Cather
American Literature
Neil s Maturity
A Lost Lady by Willa Cather outlines the changing relationship between a talkative
lady of California and a young boy (Neil Herbert) in Sweet Water. Neil Herbert is a
confused boy at the start of the novel. He is actually unsure of what he wants and
more than often ends up doing things he should not be doing. The lady often
gossiped about in California is Mrs. Forrester who Neil fears and keeps distance
from at the start, but as the boy grows into a man, he starts to think she is the most
perfect woman in the world. Niel, astonishingly, watches Mrs. Forrester flirt with
boys that Niel argues are both younger than her and lower in social class. The boy
is confused as to how his relationship with Mrs. Forrester (a married woman) should
be. Is she a normal friend, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boy shows maturity even at a much younger age. He refuses to follow his
father s path as a farmer and studies law and later architecture to have a better
future. He discovers his father is a failure and works hard to make himself proud.
Niel understands that his future depends on him and what he does in the present
time. As a result, he remains loyal to those who matter to him especially Captain
Forrester and his wife Mrs. Forrester. Having inspired his choice for a career as a
lawyer, Niel remains committed to helping his guide until he dies. Also, he refrains
from any sexual encounter with Mrs. Forrester as a mark of respect for Captain
Forrester and chooses to not tell her about his feelings. He forever remembers Mr.
and Mrs. Forrester for having such an unusual impact in his life: It seemed a solemn
moment, seemed to knock at the door of Fate; behind which all days, happy and
otherwise were hidden. Niel drank his wine with a pleasant shiver, thinking that
nothing else made life seem so precarious, the future so cryptic and unfathomable, as
that brief toast uttered by the massive man, Happy Days! (Cather,
How Can Family Law Be Reformed
Family and Welfare Law Summative Essay:
Analyse the impact of the five facts upon which a divorce may be based and discuss
the arguments surrounding the creation of a no fault divorce system. To what extent
do you consider the law in this area should be reformed?
1.Analyse impact of 5 facts
2.Argue no fault divorce system
3.Reform
Intro:
The law of divorce has drastically evolved through the years and encompasses the
process of terminating a valid marriage between a woman and a man, ultimately
ending their relationship. Contemporary developments in English law have altered
the principal basis of divorce by substituting irretrievable breakdown of marriage in
place of the fault oriented grounds, which is the only ground for a divorce. ... Show

Significantly, no connection between the two factors is necessary, which was
confirmed in Roper v Roper.
There exists some confusion to what adultery is deemed to mean, however,
definitions have been established through case law as there is no statutory definition.
The general consensus is that adultery is voluntary sexual intercourse between a man
and a woman who are not married to each other but one of whom at least is a
married person.
Behaviour
The fact of behaviour requires that the respondent behaved in such a way that the
petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to live with the respondent. This fact, as
stated by Lord Justice Dunn in Livingstone Stallard v Livingstone Stallard is whether
a right thinking person would conclude that they have behaved in a way that the other
cannot reasonably be expected to live with

My Deepest Condolences Monologue
ACT ONE
It is with the deep condolences that I must go. It may seem shocking to the living,
but the dead are wise. The dead are free. There are freedoms not granted while
living. Freedom denied to few; happiness. We think of happiness as things we can
touch: money, people, cars the tangibles; but really, it is something deep inside
that bellies its way up. It s the millions of cells in the body, working together,
screaming I m alive. I m alive, thank God all mighty, I m alive. Then you have the
moments in between that reminds you that you are here. The wind in your face,
the sound of waves. Most people get to feel the sun on their face and know what
warmth feels like. A lucky few gets to smile with their whole heart and mean it.
They get to wake up, eat, sleep, on their own accord; prisoner to everyone but
themselves. They may hate their job, their relationship, but even within their man
created bondage, there s a choice. But within humanity, duality must exist, it s how
the world balance itself.Ugly and pretty. Evil and good. Light and Dark. So the
unlucky ones must exist, and they exist among you, suffering in silence, robbed of
choice and reason. The unlucky ones exacerbate themselves trying to run back to
normal; to feel happiness and everything in between. Normal is a dream deferred.
But the unlucky ones love a good lie, and when they can no longer lie, they
died. There are freedoms not granted while living. Freedom denied to many; life.
Life and living are trains at the opposite side of a track, carrying passengers who are
either filled with so much life that they have smiles to spare or they are filled with
nothing but void, just containers for sadness. There are those alive but are not living;
but more so, things, going through the motion. Neither here, nor there, just moving
towards an inevitable fate. An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion
stays in motion, with the same speed, and the same direction unless acted upon by an
unbalanced force.
ACT TWO
It is with deep condolences that I must go. I can no longer live in between worlds;
living and dead. If I die, it is not because I was not strong enough to live, but I was
strong enough to leave.I know

  • 1. Cause And Effect College Essay Writing a Cause and Effect College Essay is no easy feat; it demands a delicate balance between analytical thinking, research prowess, and effective communication. The intricacies lie not only in dissecting the causal relationships but also in presenting a compelling narrative that resonates with the reader. Firstly, identifying the root causes and their subsequent effects requires meticulous research and a deep understanding of the subject matter. This involves delving into various sources, from scholarly articles to real-world examples, to construct a solid foundation for the essay. The complexity intensifies as the interconnected web of causes and effects often requires a nuanced approach, avoiding oversimplification. Structuring the essay poses its own set of challenges. Crafting a coherent and logical flow from cause to effect, or vice versa, necessitates a strategic arrangement of ideas. The writer must strike a balance between presenting a comprehensive overview and delving into specific details to illustrate the connections effectively. Moreover, maintaining a formal and academic tone throughout the essay is crucial. The language must be precise, and the writer needs to employ a vocabulary that conveys causality without losing the reader's interest. The challenge is not only to inform but also to engage, making the topic accessible to a broader audience. The revision process is equally demanding. Ensuring clarity, eliminating redundancies, and refining the argumentative structure are essential steps towards a polished essay. It requires a critical eye to detect any lapses in logic or areas where the causal relationships might be unclear. In conclusion, crafting a Cause and Effect College Essay is a formidable task that demands intellectual rigor, effective research skills, and adept writing capabilities. It is a process that challenges not only the writer's analytical prowess but also their ability to communicate complex ideas coherently. Yet, it's a challenge worth undertaking, as the end result can be a thought- provoking piece that contributes meaningfully to the academic discourse. • 2. Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge Introduction The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price volatility. Estimations from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests that the predominance of herding behavior may explain why the financial system in 1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120 months or 33% of the time (Persaud, 2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market ownership of institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in hopes that it that would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors in the financial market. However such claims are not fully supported by empirical research in the literature. Two schools of thoughts emerge the first being that herding enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that herding initiates short term trend reversals. The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of scholarly competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject leading to conflicts in assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and methodology often arise due to rational definitional irregularities on institutional herding. An example of such a definitional irregularity occurs when as Avery defined herd behavior as a trade by an informed agent which follows the trend in past trades even though that trend is counter to his
  • 3. The World System Theory And Developmental Studies Forces of globalization are real and their influences are felt everywhere. It entails free trade, free mobility of both financial and real capital, and rapid diffusion of products, technologies, and information and consumption patterns. As indicated in the 1999 World Survey on the Role of Women in Development, in the age of globalization, Governments policy choices have shifted in favor of openness of trade and financial flow. Policies calling for lighter regulation of industry, privatization of state owned enterprises and lower public spending have characterized the programs of governments around the world. The world systems theory, social movement theory and developmental studies should take account of female labor and of oppositional transnational feminist networks. So how did we come about this issue of economic inequality in terms of the labor force? The employment of women has had many cultural repercussions and entails gender conflicts. During the 1980 s the increasing participation of women in the labor force in Middle Eastern Countries was accompanied by subtle presumes on them to conform to religious dictates concerning dress. In Egypt many professional women came to work in modest dresses which were to cover their head. One may hypothesis that in the earlier stage of the Islamist movement, the influx of women in the work force raised fears of competition with men, leading to calls for

  • 5. Responses when Confronted with the Sacred and Secular... The popular author Chaim Potok struggled throughout his life with the sacred (Jewish religion and tradition) and the secular world. Potok suggested four possible responses for a person who faces confrontation with the sacred thought system and the secular thought system. First, the lockout response: a person escapes the conflict by erecting impenetrable barriers between the sacred and the secular and then remains in just one system. Second, compartmentalization: a person creates separate categories of thought that coexist in what he called a tenuous peace. Third, complete fusion: a person takes down all walls and allows the sacred and secular cultures to freely mix with each other, perhaps leading to a radically new seminal culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Potok, this leaves one remaining response, ambiguity and uncertainty. Two years ago Don Colton (Professor in Computer and Information Science) gave a fine lecture on ambiguity. I refer you to his lecture for more on how ambiguity is a part of our lives. Although I agree that we must live with some degree of ambiguity, I feel uncomfortable resigning myself or others to a multitude of questions with no intention of searching for answers. This approach goes counter to our natural desire to seek for truth. It seems a rather lazy way to respond to conflict. There will undoubtedly be discrepancies between the secular and the sacred that will not be answered in our lifetime, but searching for truth has its own rewards.. By examining and working with the seemingly opposing thoughts, we may find undiscovered truths that otherwise would not have been sought. I believe there must be a fifth alternative for responding to discrepancies between the sacred and secular. This approach is the eternal perspective that is taught in the scriptures and in the temple. It is the realization that, when there are conflicting ideas, we must continue to search
  • 6. Toward A Recovery Of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks Toward a Recovery of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks While researching texts written about nineteenth century farming, I found a few authors who published books about the literature of nineteenth century farming, particularly agricultural journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures. These authors often placed the farming literature they were studying into an historical context by discussing the important events in agriculture of the year in which the literature was published (see Demaree, for example). However, while these authors discuss journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures, I could not find much discussion about another important source of farming knowledge: farming handbooks. My goal in this paper is to bring this source into the agricultural literature discussion by connecting three agricultural handbooks from the nineteenth century with nineteenth century agricultural history. To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four main sections, two of which have sub sections. In the first section, I provide an account of three important events in nineteenth century agricultural history: population and technological changes, the distribution of scientific new knowledge, and farming s influence on education. In the second section, I discuss three nineteenth century farming handbooks in connection with the important events described in the first section. I end my paper with a third section that offers research questions that could be answered in
  • 7. Large Hail Analysis Upon reading The Frequency of Large Hail over the Contiguous United States by Schaefer et al., I discovered that the abstract was both informative and confusing. This abstract was about the quality of the hail occurrence records and the geographical tendencies that could be found in those records. While the abstract was interesting and highlighted flaws in the data collection method, the abstract itself could have used some improvements. The abstract began with detailing Stan Changnon s proclivity at studying hail occurrences. Following this was an explanation of the hail data collection process of the Storm Prediction Center (SPC). The authors then illustrated that records of hailfall were separated into discrete size categories that were compared to common objects. They acknowledged that the data records were subject to bias from technology and population distributions. For example, they found that updating weather radars increased hail reports, while urbanization biased reports away from rural areas. Schaefer et al. also showed that occurrences of small hail comprised the majority of all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... could have improved in this extended abstract. On several occasions, they used abbreviations without definitions. Some of these included AMS , AUG , NCDC and NWS . Though these abbreviations would have been common knowledge in the meteorology community, they should have still been defined with their first use. Another off putting tendency was that the authors referred to Changnon by his first name, which was especially strange since they later referred to him by his last name. Furthermore, there were what appeared to be a few typographical errors in the abstract. For example, in Figures 4, 6, and 7, the nautical mile unit is abbreviated as nim instead of nmi . Additionally, the tense was not constant in the first paragraph. These changes would have been relative easy for the authors to
  • 8. Palestrina s Role In The Counter-Reformation Palestrina s role in the Counter Reformation was to write music that could be used in the chapel. On April 28, 1565 singers of the papal chapel were brought together at the home of Cardinal Vitellozzi to test to see if words could be understood in the songs. People don t know if Palestrina s Missa Papae Marcelli was performed there or not. But some suggestions say that it was copied in a choirbook later on. Palestrina was involved in composing some works for the chapel and evidence increases that some compositions that he has written and is to write is for use of the chapel. Another role that Palestrina had in the Counter Reformation was to work on the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. Palestrina never completed this project... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The revisions ended up being made by Felice Anerio and Francesco Soriano. The revisions made are what Palestrina would have. Some of the revisions that he made can be seen in some chants of the 1582 Directorum Chori. The first song, Kyrie, I have actually heard before because one of the choirs in my high school sang it for one of there songs. The song has a very nice flow to it and seems like a song that is sung in a church somewhere. I looked up what the word Kyrie means and found from dictionary.com that it means, Lord, have mercy .(SDFAS) The second song ,Gloria, was also a very smooth flowing song. With all of the different parts in it, it makes it sound very good. Palestrina did very well on both of the pieces. Palestrina had a couple of roles in the Counter Reformation. One was to write music that could be used in the chapel. Another one was he had to work on the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. Listening to two of Palestrina s works was very neat. After hearing Kyrie on here from what i heard from my choir in high school was neat to hear the differences. Palestrina did very well on both pieces that I listened

  • 11. Essay on Collapse Final Collapse Final Question One In his book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, Jared Diamond outlines five factors that may lead to a societal collapse: climate change, hostile neighbors, loss of trading partners, environmental damage, and a society s response to its problems. The climate change Diamond is talking about here refers to natural fluctuations in weather; fifty years of great weather can lead to a population boom, but followed by fifty years of bad weather it can lead to collapse caused by lack of food. Before things were written down, word of mouth was how information got passed down; there is a time limit to living memory and a society could forget that the climate of the place they inhabited didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of these factors, with the exception of the introduction of alien species, are rooted in overpopulation relative to the capacity of the environment. According to Diamond, there are two methods to prevent collapse; the bottom up method and the top down method. The Bottom up method is most effective in small societies where everyone knows and is accountable to their neighbors. This allows for the community to create and implement a solution to its own issues. The Top down method is meant for bigger societies with bigger government, like the U.S. Unlike with the bottom up method, the people are not concerned with the well being of the entire group; they do not have an overview of the entire society. However, a ruler does, and also has the ability to impose rules and regulations on their society to preserve the environment for future generations. Societies that choose to implement these methods have a better success rate than those that do not. Also factored into the success of a society is the fragility of the environment, and choosing an economy to fit that environment. As discussed in class, Diamond uses the method of cherry picking to prove his theories. Basically, he picks and chooses which facts to include in his book to best support his theories. It is impossible for him to list all of the evidence for the collapse of a society

Industrial America from the American Steel Industry to the Early 1970 s The steel industry has been profoundly important to the development of USA by its value of output, input to the American manufacturing industries and in terms of the extent of its employment in the past. It s been important because of its political clout of its corporations and finally it s been important for strategic reasons. The Mesabi Range ores has been worked by Rockefeller since 1892. Open cast production kept costs low, as did the great and advances in ore carriers which transported the ores east wards through the Great Lakes. Technological advance allowed lower grade taconite ores to be beneficiated and so enabled them to bear the transport costs to the steel mills further east. Demand for Steel: This continued to rise in aggregate throughout much of the first half of the 20th century. The nature of the demand altered however. Much less steel was now needed for rails, but structural steel became increasingly important as did rods, wire, tubes and pipes; steel was needed for tinplate and also very significant amounts were demanded by the transport industries. Organisation of the industry: At the turn of the century, there was much horizontal integration and merger activity reflecting, amongst other things, a desire to reduce competition and to increase the scale of enterprises. Some companies became involved in vertical integration, being particularly anxious to secure their supplies of coking coal and iron ore (the US relied very heavily on indigenous

The same applies to the boys as Mickey has the hard life and Eddie has the easy life. Willy Russell also shows us that education, living conditions, housing and wealthcan be affected as a direct result of your class and social background. This type of life is so unimaginable but still continues as we speak. In Blood Diamond, the western view of this miserable story of Sierra Leone is depicted. Having viewed the film several times I now understand the real reason behind the film. Because it is in a western, Hollywood view, the film can only keep the attention of the viewers if there is some kind of white influence. With that said, even though the story of child soldiers is what is meant to be depicted, the love story between a South African Journalist and an American diamond smuggler is what is represented instead. Instead of focusing on the true matter at hand, Hollywood insists on using the talents of Leonardo Di Caprio to misrepresent the issues over diamonds in Sierra Leone. In the film, it is misleading to see how savage like the children of Sierra Leone are made out to be. The story almost seemed too good to be true in the film and to anyone who does not know much about the situation in Sierra Leone it may have been a great film. In my opinion it was a very sad excuse for a film and the film in every way used the situation in Sierra Leone as an advantage to the boost of some of Hollywood s best actors careers. The other film viewed in class entitled Ezra depicted the story of child soldiers from an

The financial costs of creating newer and stronger antibiotics are exceedingly high. Pharmaceutical manufactures either don t have the money or refuse to because of the small amount of profit they will make from these one off drugs. Research institutes are another option for new antibiotics but also don t have the sufficient financial support (Kesselheim 2010). With growing rates of resistance cases more isolation units are going to be in need which will cost governments hundreds, even thousands of dollars to provide (Lansing 2011). • 30. The Use of Dramatic, Situational, and Verbal Irony in... In the play Othello, Shakespeare uses many literary devices to help the reader understand the theme of the story. One of those many literary devices used in the play, is the wide range of irony. Throughout the pages of the book the reader will see the use of dramatic, situational, and verbal irony. Shakespeare does not use irony in an understated way, it is very direct, and can be found on almost every page of the book. The use of irony creates suspense, and adds interest as to what will happen. There are many examples of situational irony in Othello. One big example that went throughout the story was the triangle of Cassio, Othello, and Iago. Iago wanted Cassio dead, while Othello promoted Cassio to a higher position, and later in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A third example of irony in the play is the use of war. In real life Othello is actually fighting a war, and he is the leader that is in the topmost position. While on the other hand, there is a war in Othello s head. He is fighting amongst himself, trying to see if Desdemona is really cheating on him or not. This is the war he loses. The verbal irony used in the play is sometimes zany. Some of the lines are found to be the exact opposite of what is actually the truth, but in such a manner is drives the audience crazy. This is especially found between Iago and Othello. Othello would be found saying things as: Honest Iago . . . (V.II.92), I know, Iago, Thy honesty and love doth mince this matter (II.III.263). Iago has poured his poison into Othello and made him truly deem that he is his friend and protector. It shows how much trust Othello has in Iago, and shows the reader how it is going to waste. One line that shows great irony is: O, beware, my lord, of jealousy! It is the green eyed monster, which doth mock the meat it feeds on (III.III.195 96). But the whole reason Iago wants to ruin Othello is because he is jealous, yet he counsels Othello on the matter instead. In the end, Othello does kill his wife because he in fact is jealous. Verbal irony is found throughout this play probably the most. It adds a bit of humor while tormenting the characters, who don t know the truth. Dramatic irony is key component of

A leader needs to be able to do the physical tasks be it running boots and utes or humping for ten miles in order to encourage Marines to do the same. To do otherwise would be hypocrisy. Mental endurance is equivalent to physical endurance in its capacity. Unselfishness: A leader needs to be willing to put others before himself. In Branding the future: Syfy in the post network era, writer Barbara Selznick delineates Syfy s struggle to broaden its audience without disenchanting its core supporters. The channel, which airs programming with science fiction themes and was originally named the Sci Fi Channel, has continually struggled to break out of its niche and appeal to a larger audience (Selznick, 184). Most of the network s attempts have failed to do so. For example, its I Am Sci Fi promo spots in 1999 featured Queen Latifah, Richard Branson, and other mainstream celebrities did not successfully expand the network s audience, and the promos confused its loyal audience of science fiction aficionados (Selznick, 187). Aside from Battlestar Galactica, Syfy has lacked a signature show with mass appeal throughout its history, and its generic scripted series and uninspired alternative programming have disappointed fans of science fiction. Due to its underdeveloped niche programming and its inconsistency in its definition of science fiction, Syfy has struggled to cultivate a core audience. A central bank is different to a commercial bank such as Barclays or RBS whose main objective is profit maximisation. There are many central banks across the world, each one providing services for their own country. For example, the Bank of England is the central bank of England which was established in 1694, the Federal Reserve is the central bank of the USA and that was established in 1914. The way this works is that commercial banks assume that not all their customers would withdraw their deposits simultaneously therefore they lend out large deposits from their overall reserve with rates in which individuals or businesses would have to pay back. Central banks on the other hand aim to achieve their objectives using two distinct tools, each one being used to achieve one of the two objectives. For example, the monetary policy is used to maintain price stability. Another difference is that commercial banks do not have the authority or power to apply any policies in which they can affect the economy as a whole. Rather, they act and make their business decisions based on the policies given out by the central banks. The central bank is the only banking agency that is given authority by the government to alter interest rates and money supply which affects the way the economy would work. Adam replied to him that Moses, being a prophet, should not blame him, a mere mortal, for something that Allah had predestined (Suleiman). This story raised many questions in my mind. If the murderer owns up to his crime, repents for his sin, asks for forgiveness from those he wronged and from Allah, then he has passed destiny s test because he got closer to Allah. Some of the babies who are predestined to be born in non Muslim families have their whole life full of experiences; they have the ability to gain knowledge about Islam, but it s up to them whether or not they follow the religion. But Adam s free will laid in his decision of begging Allah for mercy, instead of cursing Him. He prayed for 300 years rather than turning away like Satan. Societal Views of Women in the Victorian Era in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House A Doll s House, by Henrik Ibsen, creates a peephole into the lives of a family in the Victorian Era. The values of the society are described using the actions of a woman, Nora, who rebels against the injustices inflicted upon her gender. Women s equality with men was not recognized by society in the late 1800 s. Rather, a woman was considered a doll, a child, and a servant. Nora plays the part of a slave in her subservience to her husband, for she is supposed to abide by his rules and be dependent on him. She is not supposed to think for herself and repeatedly told so by those around her. When speaking about Nora in her presence, Torvald says, She is so terribly self willed (55). The society s laws of that time even required the male to cosign everything that a woman had to sign. Nora s naivete in forging her father s signature and trying to pay off the loan further emphasizes Victorian society s assumptions about women s inability to deal with a man s world. Because the gifted student has surpassed the majority the teacher isolates the child with a separate advanced activity and returns to the majority. In these situations the gifted student and his/her peers become accustomed to this different status. The gifted student becomes an outsider in relation to the group by default, due to his/her above average abilities. Educational treatment of the gift denies the student the opportunity to learn to socially interact at a young age. • 47. The Major Causes Of The Recession And The Great Depression The major causes of the Recession and the Great Depression were the actions of the federal government. Before the Great Depression, the Federal Reserve kept interest rates low in the 1920s and raised interest rates in the early 1930 s. President Hoover s regulations damaged trade and American exports throughout the 1930s. Finally, the President signed a large tax increase into law in 1932, which hurt businesses and affected everyone. The suicide rate was increased after the Great Depressionbegan and a similar increase was seen in the years after the Recession. The rate homelessness was increased after the Recession because a lot of people lost their jobs and couldn t afford rent. Similarly, during the Depression, people lost their homes or often moved into small apartments that they shared with other families. During the Depression, people went on bread lines and to soup kitchens, took turns eating for the day, survived by eating very small meals. After the Recession, more people filed for unemployment applied for food stamps and seek out other government programs like WIC, which gives federal grants to feed and take care of low income children. During the years of Depression, birth rates dropped and children suffered from malnutrition. In many ways, President Hoover s policies let the Depression happen. Previous Presidents like Roosevelt and Obama responded similarly to the crises; talked about balancing the federal budget, but instead resorted to massive spending by introducing new programs. One major difference between the Recession and the Depression was that the government was not very quick to help the public but government stepped in very quickly to stop damage during the Recession. Today, the government is expected to step in when the crisis of this sort happens but in the 1930 s there were very different expectations because people blamed the unemployed men and women when it was very clear that the government had to have played a role to play in the making of the crisis as well. There exists some confusion to what adultery is deemed to mean, however, definitions have been established through case law as there is no statutory definition. The general consensus is that adultery is voluntary sexual intercourse between a man and a woman who are not married to each other but one of whom at least is a married person. Behaviour The fact of behaviour requires that the respondent behaved in such a way that the petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to live with the respondent. This fact, as stated by Lord Justice Dunn in Livingstone Stallard v Livingstone Stallard is whether a right thinking person would conclude that they have behaved in a way that the other cannot reasonably be expected to live with
  • 50. Deep Communications Monnogue In My Deepest Condolences... My Deepest Condolences Monologue ACT ONE It is with the deep condolences that I must go. It may seem shocking to the living, but the dead are wise. The dead are free. There are freedoms not granted while living. Freedom denied to few; happiness. We think of happiness as things we can touch: money, people, cars the tangibles; but really, it is something deep inside that bellies its way up. It s the millions of cells in the body, working together, screaming I m alive. I m alive, thank God all mighty, I m alive. Then you have the moments in between that reminds you that you are here. The wind in your face, the sound of waves. Most people get to feel the sun on their face and know what warmth feels like. A lucky few gets to smile with their whole heart and mean it. They get to wake up, eat, sleep, on their own accord; prisoner to everyone but themselves. They may hate their job, their relationship, but even within their man created bondage, there s a choice. But within humanity, duality must exist, it s how the world balance itself.Ugly and pretty. Evil and good. Light and Dark. So the unlucky ones must exist, and they exist among you, suffering in silence, robbed of choice and reason. The unlucky ones exacerbate themselves trying to run back to normal; to feel happiness and everything in between. Normal is a dream deferred. But the unlucky ones love a good lie, and when they can no longer lie, they died. There are freedoms not granted while living. Freedom denied to many; life. Life and living are trains at the opposite side of a track, carrying passengers who are either filled with so much life that they have smiles to spare or they are filled with nothing but void, just containers for sadness. There are those alive but are not living; but more so, things, going through the motion. Neither here, nor there, just moving towards an inevitable fate. An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion, with the same speed, and the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. ACT TWO It is with deep condolences that I must go. I can no longer live in between worlds; living and dead. If I die, it is not because I was not strong enough to live, but I was strong enough to leave.I know
