Chaucer was a writer from the Anglo Saxon Era in which he did many significant things in his short
life. He is known to this day as the father of our language as we know it today. He wrote the series of
stories called the Canterbury Tales, which consist of many different characters that each tell a story. In
these series of stories he is us using the characters to express his mind and feelings towards the
church. Chaucer is upset with the church because he knows what they are doing and how corrupt they
really are. How the priests are supposed to be poor, but instead they tell the people that come to

I started researching what the local attractions were. I read about a famous story that was written by
Mr. Wu Cheng en in Ming Dynasty, Journey to the West, which is originated in Lianyungang. Part of

future of Europe. To accomplish this the allies formed the Potsdam conference, which met on August

The Soviet Union was established in 1918 under a Communist regime, which replaced the old
monarchy ruled by the Czar. However soon after 1918 a massive forced development of the Soviet
Union and all their republics began. During this period of development, the Soviet Union carried out
the policy of collectivization. Collectivization was the seizure of private land, objects and other things
for the purpose of a collective use. However farms were not the only things collectivized, many other
industries such as factories and mines became a collective as well. All of these changes almost
destroyed the Soviet Union, but in the end made it stronger than it ever had been before. The
collectivization of land and industry would help save the Soviet Union during the Nazi invasion
during world war two. Collectivization provided the Soviet Union with the strength and unity needed
to fend off a Nazi invasion.

based on his viewpoint as an immigrant traveling to a land often fantasized about, Iyer makes several

For purposes of this paper, I will be discussing the diverse population of Star, NC, 27356. Based on
data from 2000 to 2013 from www.city data.com, the population of Star, NC is approximately 730
people. Of these 730 people, 57.5% are white, 21.1% are Hispanic, and 21.1% are black. Of this
population, it is estimated that 82.5% of the population aged 25 or above have a high school education
or higher. The median household income is recorded as $19,780. It should be noted that 17.3% of the
population lives below the poverty level.

Introduction
The Gospels of the New Testament are ancient biographies focused primarily on an individual s
character. Biographers told their audiences about events they thought would present the person s
character effectively. These biographies focused on the circumstances of the individual s birth, what

one another as they present four different aspects of Jesus earthly mission.

The two major themes in the Gospel of Mark are Jesus, the Son of God and Jesus, the King. The book
of Mark introduces Jesus is to an audience of Roman Christians in chapter one and verse one. Jesus
Christ is the Son of God. Then, Mark gives evidence for proclaiming Jesus as the Son of God in the
next few verses by quoting the scripture from the book of Isaiah, the Prophet. It says,

I. Introduction
World War I was an epic war in the history of mankind. It is purportedly the sixth largest war in
human history. And in its eventuality nearly 32 countries were involved. (Townshend, 1997 ) Both
sides, the Allies and the Central Powers were fighting for power and world dominance, and both were
equally strong and populous. Moreover, military tactics were old following from Napoleonic wars,
whereas arms and equipment were innovated. Therefore, each side had to first learn the ways of using
these weapons and in their experiments with the weaponry in war killed thousands of people with
neither side being able to claim categorical victory.
The war carried on for nearly four year, and while it may not have been the longest war, its nature was
indecisive and had Germany not stopped and called for an armistice, there would have been more
fighting and killing.

The primary beneficiaries of the emerging money economy were the merchants. Daimyo and samurai
traded their rice for money with the merchants who soon became very rich. Merchants, cashing in on
daimyo debt attained positions of authority within the daimyo households. Many were living lavish

Japan was presented by Christian missionaries. After an initial introduction to Christianity, the
shogunate conducted a purging and outlawed the religion. This led to a prolonged isolation of
Japanese society from Western influence. The shogunate wished to prevent daimyo from conspiring

The Greatest Good And Pain
In evaluating the philosopher s goal of determining how to live a good life, Epicurean philosophers
argue that pleasure is the greatest good and pain is the greatest bad. Foremost, for the purpose of this
analysis, I must define the pleasure and pain described. Pleasure is seen as the state of being pleased
or gratified. This term is defined more specifically by the subject to which the pleasure applies,
depending on what he likes. Pain is the opposite of pleasure, which is a type of emotional or physical
un pleasure that results in something that the person dislikes. Everything in which we rejoice is
pleasure, just as everything that distresses us is pain, (Cicero 1). Through this hedonistic assessment of
pleasure and pain, epicurean philosophers come to the conclusion that, the greatest pleasure [is that]
which is perceived once all pain has been removed, (Epicurus 1).
I support this idea of achieving absolute pleasure from the removal of all pain due to a series of
corresponding reasons. The first factor addressed in support of this claim is the tendency of human
nature to focus on the negative. This observation will lead to the second supporting idea that these
distresses which culminate towards the feeling of pain often block out the feeling of the pleasure
desired. This secondary notion results in a comparison between the subsequent uplifting experiences
from the removal of pain as opposed to the effect of a simple everyday pleasure on the mind. I
