This document presents a digital implementation of a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for real-time position control of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor using VHDL. It emphasizes the advantages of using FPGAs for FLC implementation, showcasing the Mamdani type structure and process for fuzzification, rule inference, and defuzzification. The results indicate improved performance of the VHDL-implemented FLC compared to traditional MATLAB Simulink simulations, highlighting benefits such as reduced design time and enhanced responsiveness.
