This document discusses the optimization of gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process parameters to improve tensile strength using the Taguchi method. The key parameters investigated were wire feed rate, welding voltage, and welding current across three levels in an L09 orthogonal array experiment. ANOVA analysis found wire feed rate to be the most influential parameter on tensile strength, contributing 34.64%, followed by welding current at 19.42%. Voltage had the lowest contribution at 5.95%. The Taguchi method was able to determine the optimal parameter settings to maximize tensile strength with fewer experimental runs than a full factorial design.
