This document summarizes an experimental study that used the Taguchi method to optimize cutting parameters (speed, feed rate, depth of cut) for maximizing the material removal rate (MRR) during turning of EN-31 hardened steel. Experiments were conducted using a CNC lathe with different parameter combinations based on an L9 orthogonal array. The MRR was measured and analyzed using signal-to-noise ratios to determine the optimal parameter settings. Regression analysis was performed to develop a predictive model. Analysis of variance showed that all parameters significantly affected MRR. The optimal parameters found were cutting speed of 900 RPM, feed rate of 0.3 mm/rev, and depth of cut of 0.9 mm.
