This document summarizes a research paper that studied the effects of aging on bitumen used in pavement. It discusses how aging causes bitumen to harden over time through oxidation and loss of volatile components, resulting in increased viscosity and stiffness of the asphalt mixture. The research examined how different filler materials affect the aging of both neat bitumen and modified bitumen. Studies showed that modified bitumen binds aged less than neat bitumen. The objectives of the study were to analyze the effects of aging on various properties of neat and modified bitumen samples, including softening point, viscosity, penetration value, and rheological properties.
study on comparison of self curing of concrete by using normal coarse aggreg...Ijripublishers Ijri
Curing is the name given to the procedure used for promoting the hydration of the cement and consist a control of temperature
and moisture movement from the concrete. Curing allows continuous hydration of cement and consequently
continuous gain in the strength, once curing stops strength gain of the concrete also stops. Proper moisture conditions
are critical because the hydration of the cement virtually ceases when the relative humidity within the capillaries drops
below 80%. Proper curing of concrete structures is important to meet performance and durability requirements. In conventional
curing this is achieved by external curing applied after mixing, placing and finishing. Self-curing or internal
curing is a technique that can be used to provide additional moisture in concrete for more effective hydration of cement
and reduced self-desiccation. When concrete is exposed to the environment evaporation of water takes place and loss of
moisture will reduce the initial water cement ratio which will result in the incomplete hydration of the cement and hence
lowering the quality of the concrete.
A Literature Review on the Role of Zycotherm as an Additive used in Bitumenijtsrd
Water is one of the prominent damaging elements in asphalt pavement due to its enormous detrimental effects on pavement performance. Moisture damage induced by the actions of water reduces the strength as well as durability of asphalt mixtures, tends to cause various types of distress such as potholes, stripping, and others to the pavement, formed by lack of cohesion and adhesion. To sort out this problem, the modification of bitumen is needed to enhance its properties for pavement surface. Ergo, the current paper introduces the findings of prior research studies on Zycotherms effect as an anti stripping agent, recently developed, chemically reactive nanomaterial that imparts strength to the surface of the pavement. In this study, optimum bitumen content by Marshal Mix Design, without and with necessary dosages of Zycotherm upgraded from Zycosoil and alterations in properties are reported through various tests. Effects of Layered Silicate Fillers and Their Surface Treatments in NR/BIIR B...drboon
In this study, the improvement in mechanical properties and abrasion resistance of natural rubber/bromobutyl rubber (NR/BIIR) blends were investigated when using different types of layered silicates as secondary fillers. Moreover, the effects of organophillic surface treatments and their synergistic effects with ENR compatibilizer were also studied. These fillers include montmorillonite clay, kaolin, bleaching clay, and talcum. We found that the secondary fillers could improve the properties of the rubber composites differently. Bleaching clay contributed to a dramatic increase in crosslink density, which could also increase the modulus and hardness of the composite. Montmorillonite clay could provide dramatic increase in abrasion resistance with low compression set, while kaolin was excellent in terms of tensile strength. With organophillic surface treatments, the silane-treated kaolin led to dramatic improvement in all aspects. Conversely, montmorillonite clay treated with octadecylamine contributed to significantly higher modulus and hardness, while losing its abrasion resistance and resilience. These results were opposite for bleaching clay. In this case, even though the composites of silane-treated kaolin obtained improved abrasion resistance and lower compression set, they suffered the drop in crosslink density, modulus, hardness and tensile strength.
AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON PROPERTIES OF TERNARY BLENDED CONCRETE USING GGBS AN...AM Publications
Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) is a by-product obtained from the blast furnaces used in the iron manufacturing industry. The disposal of the marble powder obtained from marble industry constitutes one of the environmental problems around the world. One of the possible solutions for the effective use of GGBS and marble powder is to partially replace cement in concrete. This paper presents the results of an experimental study on concrete in which the cement is partially replaced by both GGBS and marble powder. In this study, different percentages of GGBS and marble powder are used for partial replacement of cement by 30%. Tests conducted includes workability of fresh concrete (Slump test), strength of hardened concrete (Compressive strength, Split tensile strength and Flexural strength) and durability properties of concrete (Chloride resistance and Sulphate resistance).

Influence of aging on evolution of structure, morphology and rheology of base...Surya Pavan Pynda
The influence of aging on the evolution of structure, morphology and rheology of base bitumen and SBS modified binders was investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), respectively. Two laboratory simulation aging methods, named standard rolling thin film oven (RTFO) test and pressure aging vessel (PAV) test were applied in this study. The aging temperature of PAV was selected at 60 C, which is considered to be consistent with the real high temperature within an asphalt pavement in the field. After aging, it was found that more carbonyl and sulphoxide groups but less chain segments of butadiene were available. With the oxidation of base bitumen and the degradation of SBS segments, obvious asphaltene micelles appeared in both binders, consistent with the changes of softening point and rheology of base bitumen and SBS modified binders.

The advancement of concrete technology is abridging the usance of natural and energy asset, and lessen the pollution of environment by the industrial waste. Marble is a metamorphic rock, resulting from the transformation of pure lime stone. Marble dust is generated in stone processing plants which pollute the environment and affect the humans directly or indirectly. Effect of Quartz sand Grains Diameter on the Mechanical Properties of Mortarsijtsrd
The aim of this study is to evaluate experimentally the influence of quartz dune sand incorporation in the cement matrix by mass substitution at different percentages and diameters, on the mechanical properties of the mortars. Properties of the mortars were determined by flexural traction and compressive strength the results obtained highlight the effect of the sand dune grain diameter on the mechanical properties of the mortars tested. The use of quartz dune sand with a diameter of less than 0.16mm improved the mechanical strength of mortars. improveming aging resistance of asphalt by addition of polyethylene and sulph...Anugrah39
The presentation proposes a solution to the problem of asphalt aging, which can cause roads and paved surfaces to deteriorate over time. By adding polyethylene and sulfur to asphalt, its aging resistance can be improved, leading to increased durability and reduced maintenance costs. Polyethylene forms a network of polymer chains that improve the strength and durability of the asphalt and reduce the penetration of damaging substances. Sulfur increases the cross-linking of asphalt molecules, making it more resistant to aging and other types of damage. The presentation highlights the benefits of this approach and provides examples of its successful applications in the construction industry.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
