This document summarizes a study that uses ANSYS software to analyze the behavior of pile foundations in liquefied soil. The study models different pile group configurations (varying number of piles and spacing between piles) embedded in soils of varying density (loose, medium, dense sand). The analysis seeks to determine the optimal pile configuration for minimizing settlement under load for each soil density condition. Results show that settlement decreases with increasing soil friction angle and increasing number of piles. Settlement also decreases with increasing relative density of the soil. Load-settlement response is similar for medium and dense sands. The study aims to better understand pile-soil interaction effects to improve design of pile foundations in liquefiable soils.
Reinforcement of Pavement Subgrade using Granular Fill and a Geosynthetic LayerAM Publications
Engineers are often faced with construction of pavement structures over soft and highly compressible subgrade. Such conditions render the structures unable to withstand the required design loads and susceptible to high settlements with associated excessive distress, leading to pavement damage. Because using imported quality fill to improve the load-bearing capacity of the subgrade has limited benefits, an alternative construction approach is needed to ensure the required strength of the soil structure is reached. The use of geosynthetics in soil to improve bearing capacity and stability offers a better alternative to imported fill. This research was conducted to determine the degree of improvement of the load-bearing capacity and reduction in settlement as a result of the geosynthetic reinforcement of soft clay overlain by granular material. Compression tests on the unreinforced clay subgrade and geosynthetic-reinforced two-layered soil composite were conducted at bench-scale using a Universal Compression Machine at the University of Cape Town Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory. The geosynthetic products used to reinforce the soil structure in this study included geogrids and geotextiles. The reinforcement layer was placed alternatively within the layer of granular material and at the interface of the soil and a range of fill thicknesses and depths of placement were tested to determine their influence on mobilized strength. The use of these composites could potentially lead to reduced construction costs as a result of less aggregate material used, an extension in the design life of the pavement structure and, consequently, a reduced necessity for maintenance work.

GEOSYTHETICS AND ITS APPLICATION IN FOUNDATION ENGINEERINGHarsh Shani
The word ‘Geo’ refers to an end use associated with improving the performance of civil engineering works involving earth/ground/soil . The word ‘synthetics’ refers to the fact that the material are manmade. The material used in the manufacture of Geosynthetics are primarily synthetic polymers generally derived from crude petroleum oils, although rubber, fibre glass and other materials are also sometimes used.
Geosynthetics are fabric like material made from polymers such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), nylon etc.
Soil stabilization with cement, bitumen, lime, chemical stabilization, geotextile, grouting etc. are discussed. It is a method of improving soil properties by blending and mixing other materials.
Stabilization in a broad sense incorporates the various methods employed for modifying the properties of a soil to improve its engineering performance. Stabilization is being used for a variety of engineering works, the most common application being in the construction of road and airfield pavements, where the main objective is to increase the strength or stability of soil and to reduce the construction cost by making best use of locally available materials.
A review on stabilization of soil using bio enzymeeSAT Journals
Abstract In developing countries like India the most important requirement of any project after performance criteria is its economical feasibility and serviceability criteria. The conventional methods are time consuming and are not economically feasible. Hence there is a need to discover the other possible ways to satisfy the performance as well as economical criteria. In this paper, popularly available bio-enzymes and their effect on engineering properties of soil are discussed. The stabilization of soil with bio-enzyme is a revolutionary technique which becoming popular worldwide. Recently there are many bio-enzymes available for soil stabilization such as renolith, Perma-Zyme, Terra-Zyme, Fujibeton etc. These enzymes have been proven to be very effective and economical. Another advantage of the bio-enzyme is that these are environment friendly. When these bio-enzymes are mixed with soil they alter its engineering properties. Their efficiency depends upon the amount of dose, type of soil available and field conditions. The use of bioenzyme in soil stabilization is not very popular due to lack of awareness between engineers and non availability of standardized data. However, recently some bio-enzyme stabilized roads were constructed in various parts of India, which are performing very well. Keywords: Bio Enzyme, Nontraditional Soil Stabilizer.
Strength Behaviour of Expansive Soil Treated with Tile WasteIJERD Editor
The amount of wastes has increased year by year and the disposal becomes a serious problem. This
paper presents the effects of tile waste on, liquid limit, plastic limit, compaction characteristics, California
Bearing Ratio and swelling pressure of an expansive soil. The expansive soil collected locally was mixed with
tile waste from 0 to 30% at an increment of 10%. From the analysis of test results it was found that, liquid limit,
plastic limit, optimum moisture content, and swelling pressure are decreased, maximum dry density and
California bearing ratio are increased with an increase in tile waste.
Erosion of soil is a very common phenomenon. Since the natural growth rate of soil is very slow, it is required to prevent erosion of soil artificially. Erosion control is also necessary to give stability to the other structures against landslide, etc., and it is also finds its requirement in saving the plnats and soil formation agains failure during rain or due to gravity or due to many other reasons.
It has been a little effort to present Type of errosions and their preventive measures.
Message: This is made to be presented in Seminar, as a part of my B. Tech. in Civil Engineering Coarse.
In this presentation you will find what is jute Geo-textile, how it is manufactured and application of jute Geo-textile. It contains some of the case studies from INDIA.
Abstract Geotextiles have proven to be the most versatile and cost effective ground modification materials. Their use has extended rapidly into nearly all areas of civil, geotechnical, environmental, coastal and hydraulic engineering. They form the major component of the field of Geosynthetics, the others being geogrids, geomembranes and geocomposites. One of the growing alternatives in today’s context, with respect to growing environmental concern and carbon foot print generation, is the emergence of technical textiles made out of natural fibres which includes geotextile products for geotechnical applications, agrotextile products as well as other such relevant areas. Jute geotextile (JGT) can certainly be considered as a potential aspirant replacing majority of today’s popular synthetic products which are posing severe threats to our environment thereby adversely affecting the eco-congruity. For sustainable socio-economic development, applications and usable area of jute geotextile are in increasing trend. There is a wide scope for innovative and prospective use of jute geotextile followed by the design and engineering of the products, oriented as per the end-user requirements for different geotechnical applications. This will open up newer avenues for Jute, not only as a technical textile, but for the entire Jute Sector as it is environment friendly and its application is effective for protecting environmental degradation. Therefore, keeping in mind about the potential candidature of jute geotextile this paper has substantiated a detailed review on jute geotextile-its designing and manufacturing along with its characteristic features, end-use specific applications, advantages and eventually its techno-economic viability. Characterization of Red Mud as a Construction Materials Using with Natural Soilijtsrd
Soil is very important in civil engineering constructions. The poor engineering properties of the local soils may present many difficulties for construction and therefore need to improve their engineering properties. Stabilization techniques can be used to improve the properties of soil. Soil stabilization improves various engineering properties e.g. bearing capacity, compressibility, strength, and various other properties of soil. In this study the impact of Red Mud to improve the strength of soil. The soil was stabilized with Red Mud in stepped concentration of 5 , 10 , 15 , 20 , 25 and 30 by dry weight of the soil individually. All stabilized soil samples were also cured for 96 hours for CBR test in fully saturated condition. The test results indicate that the addition of Red Mud enhances the percentage of grain size distribution, but with addition of Red Mud till 20 the LL, PL,PI and decreases, while these parameters further increases in this limit beyond i.e. 20 to 30 of Red Mud, but in the case of The optimal percentage of Red Mud at which maximum CBR is achieved is selected, Specific gravity value of Natural Soil is 2.57, but as of Red Mud is increases, specific gravity value decreases gradually from 2.57 to 2.44 with increase in percentage of Red Mud from 0 to 30 and value of raw soil is achieved as 1.85 gm cc at OMC of 13.65 . It got increased to 1.93 gm cc at OMC of 12.30 when Red Mud is increased from 0 to 20 is effective beyond also there is decreasing in MDD from 1.93 gm cc at OMC of 12.30 to 1.89 gm cc at OMC of 13.20 when Red Mud is increased from 20 to 30 . The CBR value increases with the addition of Red Mud till 20 , while it decreases beyond the limit 20 to 30 with addition of Red Mud. For both soaked and unsoaked condition. Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
Water scarcity is the lack of fresh water resources to meet the standard water demand. There are two type of water scarcity. One is physical. The other is economic water scarcity.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.
