This document discusses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of aircraft wings using NACA 4412 airfoils at various angles of attack. The study uses ANSYS software to simulate air flow over the airfoil and calculate lift and drag coefficients. The results show that lift increases with angle of attack up to 25 degrees, at which point lift is highest before drag starts to dominate as the airfoil stalls. Contour plots of pressure and velocity are presented for the airfoil at angles of attack of 0, 8, 16, and 20 degrees. The CFD analysis provides insight into airfoil aerodynamic performance without requiring expensive wind tunnel testing.

Abstract In this paper we have studied the experimental characteristic graph of NACA 2415.The experimental graphs were taken from the book, “Theory of wing section” by IRA H. ABBOTT. We used these graphs for the validation of our results. Then we use CFD to simulate the experimental flow conditions and check the results and compare them with the experimental results. We meshed the airfoil in ICEM CFD so that the meshing is very precise. We then calculate the NACA 2415 airfoil’s lift at different angle of attack theoretically and using CFD analysis and compare them with the experimental values. We find the errors between experimental and CFD values as well as experimental and theoretical values. We used another simulation software called Javafoil and used it for comparison. Keywords: Experimental, CFD, Theoretical, Javafoil

Fluid-Structure Interaction Over an Aircraft WingIJERDJOURNAL
ABSTRACT:- Aircraft is a brilliant man-made structure which helps us to fly over the world. At the same time, aircraft is a complex structure to be checked and maintained for the aero elasticity due to aerodynamic properties. In this paper, the fluid-structure interaction problem in super critical NASA SC(2)-0412 airfoil is discussed. The main aim of this project is to find the best performance and deformation limit of the wing on different Mach numbers. This project is completely done by numerical methods of designing the wing using CATIA and flow properties in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. Finally, the structural analysis for deformation is analysed in ANSYS. The analytical approach of fluid-structure interaction over an Aircraft wing is complex.
The flow across an airfoil is studied for different angle of attack. The CFD analysis results are documented and studied for different angle of attack using fluent & gambit.

In this paper the continuation and bifurcation methods are applied to aircraft nonlinear control design problems. The search for the recovery control from spin regimes is based on the minimization of an energy-like scalar function constrained by the aircraft's equilibria conditions. The design of a global stability augmentation system for severe wing-rock motion is performed by using bifurcation diagrams for equilibrium and periodical modes. The nonlinear control law, which totally suppresses wing-rock motion, is derived, taking into account both local stability characteristics of aircraft equilibrium states and domains of attraction, along with the requirement that all other attractors be eliminated.
Effect of spikes integrated to airfoil at supersonic speedeSAT Journals
Abstract
The objective of this is to analyse the flow field over an aerofoil section integrated with spikes at supersonic speed (Mach number
greater than 1). Use of spike integrated with aerofoil changes the flow characteristics over aerofoil and hence aerodynamic lift
and drag. The experiment consists of flow visualization graphs and measurement of coefficient of aerodynamic drag and lift.
Here we are using different shapes of spike like sharp edge and hemi spherical edge. In this we will compare the flow over
aerofoil with spike and without spike. The flow analysis is done by using Computational fluid dynamics (CFD). CFD is the study
of external flow over a body or internal flow through the body. CFD is aiding aero-dynamist to better understand the flow physics
and in turn to design efficient models. In short, CFD is playing a strong role as a design tool as well as a research tool.

Cfd analysis of rae 2822 supercritical airfoil at transonic mach speedseSAT Journals
Abstract The Aerodynamic characteristics of an airfoil play a very important role in terms of design aspects and experimental validation. A distinctive supercritical airfoil is found to give inappropriate results at peak operating conditions. This led to design changes and optimization of the foil with the help of a cusp like structure added to the trailing edge of the foil. The present work emphasizes the computation of a supercritical airfoil with and without wedge profiles at different angles of attack and free stream velocities. The formation of a shock wave is observed when the free stream approaches a transonic mach number. This shock wave is a type of propagating disturbance which greatly effects the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil. The flow properties such as pressure, temperature and density experience a drastic change upstream and downstream of the generated shock. The main goal of the proposed paper is to carryout the simulation and analysis of RAE 2822 supercritical airfoil with and without wedge profiles along with the study of aerodynamic characteristics such as Lift and drag coefficients at different Mach numbers. The objective is to improve the stability of the airfoil when the flow approaches transonic Mach speeds. The design profile chosen is based upon existing literature studies. Key Words: Supercritical Airfoil, Shock wave, Transonic mach, Mach number etc…
Numerical investigation of winglet angles influence on vortex sheddingeSAT Journals
Abstract Wingtip devices are usually intended to improve the efficiency of fixed-wing aircraft. There are several types of wing tip devices, and although they function in different manners, the intended effect is always to reduce the aircraft's drag by partial recovery of the tip vortex energy. Wingtip devices can also improve aircraft handling characteristics and enhance safety for following aircraft. Such devices increase the effective aspect ratio of a wing without materially increasing the wingspan. The purpose of this project is to analyse different types of winglets using Auto CAD, GAMBIT and FLUENT and then, to find out what happens when winglets are linked to wingtips and to study about the aerodynamic properties of spiroid winglets which are still under research. One wing model without winglet and three wing models with winglets were created and drawn in Auto CAD and they were meshed in GAMBIT using geometry data gathered from research papers. Those models were read into Fluent where flow boundary conditions were applied.
The wing without winglet, the wings with spiroid winglets and the wings with other kinds of winglets performance were analyzed in several angles of attack and the drag coefficient was compared when the aircraft is taking off. Wingtip vortices from models were checked, studied and compared. The best winglet model reduces drag coefficient and wingtip vortices from wing without winglet model and it will be pointed out at the end of this project

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Additionally, the study provides valuable insights for advancing energy research in economically viable areas. Recommendations included conducting site-specific assessments, utilizing advanced modeling tools, implementing regular maintenance protocols, and enhancing communication among system components.
Water scarcity is the lack of fresh water resources to meet the standard water demand. There are two type of water scarcity. One is physical. The other is economic water scarcity.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
