This document summarizes a study that used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to analyze wind loads on tall buildings and calculate drag coefficients. The study used ANSYS software to model different building shapes and calculate drag coefficients, which were then compared to values from the Indian code IS 875-Part III. Drag coefficients were determined for circular, diamond, triangle, square with rounded edges, hexagonal, and octagonal building shapes. The CFD analysis found drag coefficient values that varied within 5-8% of the code values, validating the use of CFD to analyze wind loads and drag coefficients for tall building design.
