Earth Bound Telescopes
Clearly the better and stronger our telescopes and other methods used to evaluate the sky will result in
further discoveries. Not only do we have Earth bound telescopes; we have telescopes in the sky that
can get even closer to other matter whether that be planets, stars, comets, asteroids, etc. The textbook
also notes radial velocity and how the gravitational pull of a planet results in the star wobbling. If the
wobble happens to occur along our line of sight to the star, then we see small fluctuations in the star s
radial velocity, which can be measured using the Doppler effect (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371)
allowing us to estimate the mass of the planet (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371). I found this website:
http://www.planetary.org/explore/space topics/exoplanets/how to search for exoplanets.html that gives
three ways. They are noted as radial velocity (already stated); transit photometry (having to do with
the brightness or lack thereof of a star when another planet passes between it and the Earth (How to
Search for Exoplanets)), and Microlensing (stated as the only real method that is capable of
discovering other planets at huge distances from Earth (How to Search for Exoplanets)). It further
notes that while radial velocity can identify them within 100 light years, transit photometry can
identify them more than 100 light years (100 s in fact), and transit photometry can find those that are
thousands of light years away. I need to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basically, to be an Earth like planet and sustain life a planet would need the same properties similar in
mass, density, rotational method, gravity, and atmosphere as the Earth. I suppose another planet could

Procrastinator And Slacker Analysis
All people spend at least a little time in the four of quadrants: procrastinator, prioritizer, yes man, and
slacker. The quadrants represent your habits on importance and urgency in relation to your priorities.
Although I spend most of my time as a prioritizer, I can remove the yes man from my life by being a
better prioritizer and learning how to say no to people. The first and fourth quadrants, procrastinator
and slacker, are the two worst quadrants to be in. Both leave you with low quality performance, stress,
guilt, and a lot of wasted time. Procrastinators and slackers do not plan anything out, nor do they
worry about the quality of their work, only that it eventually gets done, sometime in the future. At this
point in my life, I relate

The Cave Allegory In Plato s The Republic
The Cave Allegory
Plato a famous Greek philosopher in his book The Republic has his teacher Socrates recount the
allegory of the cave.
A group of people have lived chained up in a deep cave since birth, never ever seeing daylight and
seeing only ahead. Behind them is a partial wall and a fire between the prisoners and the partial wall.
There are various statues manipulated by a hidden group (representing all the forces that program and
influence us) behind the partial wall that the prisoners cannot see.
The prisoners see the shadows cast by the statutes move and think they are real. Most people mistake
the products of their deletion, generalization, distortions and projections as real and reflecting reality.
They mistake their internal map of the world for the real world. ... Show more content on

They have never realized their mental models were controlling them.
One of the prisoners is freed from his bonds and forced to confront the reality of the fire and statutes
themselves. This is what happens when one day you wake up and something shocking happens (you
lose your job or someone close to you dies) and you are shaken out of your trance state or default
mode and forced to see the world as it is.
So the prisoner faces pain and confusion initially because his eyes are not used to the light. He then
realizes that he is seeing the reality for the first time as opposed to the shadows formed by the fire and
the statues, he previously saw.
He now accepts the fire and statues as most real. This stage in the cave represents belief. He is still
unaware that there that there are things of greater reality a world beyond his cave.
Like the prisoner, the first step to freedom is when you begin to wake up from your dream state and
your default modes.
Next, this prisoner is dragged out of the cave into world of sunlight where his eyes are blinded.
Initially he can only look at shadows, then at

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association has a Vision to...
The National Cattlemen s Beef Association is a trade association and policy group that represents all
segments of the cattle industry: producers, feeders, and breeders. The association has over 28,000
individual members and represents over 230,000 people in the industry. The current president of
NCBA, Scott George, is a cow/calf producer from Wyoming with a long history in the dairy industry
and policy groups as a member of the Farm Bureau. In addition to its role in U.S. policy, the NCBA
conducts research, marketing, and promotional work for cattle ranchers. The NCBA s vision is an
industry united around a common goal of being the world s most trusted and preferred source of beef
and beef products. The economic interests of the cattle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the early 70s, the cattle market suffered a severe crash. To combat this and increase beef demand,
the ANCA helped create a beef checkoff program which began in 1986 and worked to educate the
population and promote high quality beef. In 1977, the National Livestock Feeder s Association
combined with the ANCA to create the National Cattlemen s Association, developing a wider
membership in the cattle industry. Over the next 20 years the group was able to fully focus on its
policy actions by concerning itself with several issues regarding future markets, food safety, and the
environment. Finally, in 1996, the NCA merged with the Beef Industry Council of the Meat Board,
allowing for full coverage of all aspects of the cattle industry and creating the National Cattlemen s
Beef Association as it is known today (Patrick). The NCBA continues to fight against the same
challenges it has faced in its more than a hundred year history as well as the new challenges of today.
As recently as this week, the NCBA has had trouble influencing policy in its favor. The country of
origin labeling requirements in the 2014 Farm Bill were not changed to the NCBA s liking (Farm
Press). The new rules require meat products to be labeled with where the cattle was born,

Seung-Hui Cho And The Aftermath Of The Virginia Tech Massacre
A case study is a method of analysis and a specific research design for examining a problem
(University of Southern California, 2010). It can be used to analyze a person, place, event, or other
subjects in order to help discover mitigating issues, misconceptions, failures, trends, or
recommendations (USC, 2010). Case studies will be used to gain a better understanding of situations
and topics to help others make better policies, procedures, and decisions (USC, 2010). Seung Hui Cho

Gender Stereotypes About Mothers In The Work Force
assumptions about mothers in the work force which in most cases results in a pay gap for that woman.
Correll identifies a variety of factors that could help explain the motherhood wage gap. The factors
include but aren t limited to, reduced investment in human capital by mothers, lower work effort by
mothers compared with nonmothers, unobserved heterogeneity between mothers and nonmothers, and
discrimination against mothers by employers (Correll 1299). All these things contribute to the gender
wage gap. Women in the work place already have to prove themselves in comparison to men, the
element of being a mother creates another obstacle for women who are mothers. This also places a

Modernity and Enlightenment in The Persian Letters by...
Modernity and Enlightenment in The Persian Letters by Charles Montesquieu The Persian Letters
(1721), a fictional piece by Charles Montesquieu, is representative of the Enlightenment, both
supporting and showing conflict with its ideas. The initial perception of European people, in particular
the French, is of a busy people with goals and ambition whose focus is progress; in this way they are
able to gain knowledge a core foundation to Enlightenment. One particular section of the Persian
Letters states that the revolt against the authorities was lead by women, who through reason, saw the
inequity of their treatment and formed a voice. In Montesquieu s story, their decision to change

The thought was that human kind was emerging from an age of darkness into Enlightenment . This
idea was focused around the advancement of scientific knowledge, the development of respect for
humanity and above all, reason. People of this time believed that knowledge had to be earned and that
through experience and observation, guided by reason, progress was inevitable. The idea of
Enlightenment filtered its way into society and was became institutionalized. During this period,
European traditions also came under the microscope and were challenged by many scholars and
philosophers. Economical, social and political attitudes were studied and began to move away from
negativity. People then focused on the positives of life and human nature. The monarch and general
hierarchy of society was questioned and related back to natural intentions for mankind. Frenchmen felt
enslaved by their current authorities and tried to overthrow them through the improvement of literacy,
anonymous tracts and social exploration. As the focus of Enlightenment was on the natural law and
order of the world, religious beliefs and especially Christian theology were a central topic. People of
this age were trying to simplify common day human laws back to nature as it provided the basic
metaphor for how mankind should live. In Letter 24 of Les letters persanes, Rica s perception of

The Controversy Of Yellowstone Supervolcano
In this paper i will be talking about some of the controversy swirling around about the Yellowstone
Supervolcano. I will be talking about, the activity of the volcano and magma chamber, when it s
predicted to erupt next, the kill radius and ash cloud devastation, and if there is anything we can do to
stop, or even mitigate the effects of a massive super eruption. In most of the research I have done and
completed, this supervolcano has a lot of controversy behind it. One of the things I have found is,
people around the world , no matter how much evidence proves them wrong, believe this
supervolcano is no longer active. I would like to put that thought to rest mostly because of how idiotic
it makes people sound. If the Yellowstone magma chamber was not active, which is what makes it a
supervolcano, explain to me why there are so many hydrological features in Yellowstone. Explain to
me why and how geysers work. The magma chamber has been moving since it first developed. It
started out in the south eastern corner of Oregon and has been moving north east for the last 16.1
million years to where it is today in Wyoming. This magma chamber is the reason Yellowstone
National Park is one of the world s most interesting places to visit. It is about one and a half miles
under the crust and heats up big aquifers underground. If you have ever watched water boil, what
happens when the water heats up? It starts to rise. So imagine that you have a funnel big enough to

Meaning Of Respect In Confucius
As time goes by, respect is being lost and forgotten. Even the definition of respect seems to be a bit
muddied. Many people are forgetting the one golden rule that still applies. The golden rule being treat
others the way you would want to be treated. People nowadays tend to turn respect towards things that
are worthy of praise and they are forgetting to keep the same respect to everything else. No matter the
color of someone s skin, the religion they believe in, and where they come from everyone deserves
and should get respect, in Confucius s teachings, as a basic human element and many Asian countries,
respect is a major characteristic and etiquette that people are learning and quickly forgetting.
Subclaim I (body paragraph)

Dulce Et Decorum Est Diction
Death in Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen is portrayed through the use of vivid imagery. The
poet makes the reader seem as if he is present at the event due to the use of figurative language used to
portray death. He creates a horrendous image by the use of diction. The use of alliteration, watch the
white eyes writhing in his face, (line 19) creates an image of the face of a young man disfiguring. The
diction in line 20, like a devil sick of sin, accentuates that humans are much crueller than the devil
himself. Owen uses these literary devices to show us the horror the poet witnessed. The blood, come
gargling from the froth corrupted lungs (line21 22) is onomatopoeia which creates audio imagery.

The tone in the octave is strong and violent to demonstrate the cruelty of war. The octave begins with
passing bells, (line 1) which are bells that were used to announce a death during the early 1900 s. This
is then followed by a simile, who die as cattle, where Owen compares the young men at war to cattle.
It creates an image of war being a slaughter house for young men and that their death doesn t conjure
much sorrow. In the sestet Owen writes in their eyes shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes
(line10 11). Here Owen creates an emotional image by the use of calm words to create a mourning
mood. It shows that the families of the fallen soldiers crying for their loved ones have died. Owen then
symbolises death as a drawing down of blinds at dusk (line 16). Dusk is the time of the day when the
sun is about to set and this is when most people pull down the blinds of their home. It shows that the
day has come to an end. This is the last line of the sonnet and it has great significance. It symbolises
the end of the sonnet and also the death of a

Coronal Mass Ejection Essay
Coronal Mass Ejection also known as CME is usually created around the sun s surface by magnetic
reconnection. CME is a large bubble of gas and magnetic field lines that are emerged from the sun.
There isn t a full proven understanding of how CME s occur but Astronomers have come to a theory
that because the sun is a fluid, the turbulence gets kinks that get shot out into space in any direction as
a superheated gas. The gas that is ejected from the sun is made of protons and electrons carried
through solar winds. This gas is known as plasma and can accelerate over 1 million miles per hour and
reach Earth that is 93 million miles away in less than 4 days. When the sun is most active Coronal
Mass Ejections can happen multiple times per day however, it usually occurs once every 5 days. Its
definition is the effect on earth if a massive event in the result of struggling to survive. This refers to a
specific form of continuing education that helps those in the medical field, maintain competence and

What is Love?
The idea of true love is a popular theme in Shakespeare s writings. In his play, Twelfth Night, Viola,
Olivia, and Orsino are all involved in a love triangle, but their love is not based on reality. In an
attempt to find a job as a servant, Viola disguises herself as a man, leading everyone to believe she
was someone she wasn t. The obsessive love and conflicts that arise in Twelfth Night are created from
the deception and lies amongst the characters, making us question Shakespeare s definition of love.
The deception starts with Viola disguising herself as a man by the name of Cesario. While her
intentions were harmless, her false identity won the heart of Olivia. Olivia ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Compensation Equity Is Very Popular Right Now
The topic of compensation equity is very popular right now. Concerns about gender pay gap, CEO pay
ratio, and pay satisfaction as it relates to employee performance are especially prevalent. For this
discussion we will focus on the ethical implications of CEO pay ratio but in order to do this we must
first define compensation.
Often CEO compensation is comprised of cash salary, bonuses, stocks, options, etc. It is not unusual
for companies to have requirements about the percentage of the CEO total compensation that must be
held in stocks in an attempt to incentivize good performance. The required company investment may
have other limitations such as restrictions on when stocks can be purchased and sold (Core and Guay
2010). This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If all employees earned satisfactory wages, the pay ratio would decrease.
According to Henderson and Fredrickson (2001), it is necessary to distinguish between economic
views and behavioral views that embody various pay gap theories. Economic perspectives emphasize
competition while behavioral perspectives emphasize cooperation (p. 97). Relative deprivation theory
states that when lower level employees feel like they are receiving less than they deserve, it can lead
to adverse behavior (p. 97). Tournament theory proposes that CEO pay gap promotes competition and
the gap between successive ranks increases with hierarchical level (p. 99). This theory relies on strong
incentives to justify pay gap and encourage positive behavior from employees, however, this approach
favors the individual so for organizations that require coordination and cooperation, this can elicit self
serving behavior. When collaboration is vital to an organization, the allocation preference theory
proposes that pay is distributed relatively equally to maintain social harmony and discourage
destructive employee behavior (p. 98). Another key consideration is how dominant cultural values
impact organizational structure. According to Tosi and Greckhamer (2004) national cultures emerge
from a broad set of forces which results in a dominant cultural value set and is

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder ( Adhd ) Essay
Today, more and more kids are unable to focus, whether it is in school, church, or even at home, it is
the same. Some draw on their notes and daydream during discussions. Others spend all their time on
one subject instead of a few. For some, the reasons are simple: Kids get bored easily. This, however, is
only mostly true. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is a disorder that causes a lack of attention in
those who have it, including adults. Though it is easily spotted in children due to abundant mounts of
energy and a high lack of focus, many adults who have Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder don t
know they have it. Although Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is growing more and more
common among teens and children today, through the use of medication and therapy, those people can
learn to control and/or hide the symptoms in their adulthood. For the sake of saving from confusion
however, the disorder will just be referred to as Attention Deficit disorder (ADD), unless otherwise
noted. Hallowell s definition of ADD is a neurological syndrome whose classic defining triad of
symptoms include impulsivity, distractibility, and hyperactivity or excess energy. This is one of the
less broad definitions of ADD or ADHD given in the world today. This condition occurs in all ages
and genders, and it cuts across all religious groups, social groups, education levels, and levels of
intelligence of the world. Even today, there are about 15 million citizens of The United

Entrepreneurial Orientation In The Apple Computer Company
Entrepreneurial orientation is a key concept when organizations are creating strategies to do
something new and take advantage of opportunities that other organizations cannot exploit (Ketchen
Short, 2017). It can be defined as an organizational level strategic management, which includes
characteristic such as: autonomy, risk taking, competitive aggressiveness, innovativeness and pro
activeness. When major brands Apple and Nike implement entrepreneurial orientation successfully,
they re able to achieve high performance and quality products through innovative techniques that
allows them to maintain market dominance. We ll go into further detail discussing how both these
companies effectively executed entrepreneurial orientation to achieve such success; starting with some
background information.
Apple s history dates to 1974 when two men, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak had a vision that
inexpensive home computers would soon be in demand. Two years later, Jobs and Wozniak built their
first computer in Jobs family garage, they named it Apple I. On April 1, 1976, the Apple Computer
Company was established.
Nike began as an enterprise in Oregon with its founder, sports enthusiast Phil Knight. In 1962, Nike
started under the name Blue Ribbon Sports. During this time, the athletic shoe industry was dominated
by the Adidas and Puma companies. Knight recognized there was segment of serious athletes that had

Reflection Of A Theoretical Orientation
A theoretical orientation is the model used to describe a client s behavior, tendencies and personality.
Therapists can t approach and find explanations of behavior or personality in the same manner due to
the difference in client issues, diagnoses, and symptoms. Although different in nature each theoretical
orientation consists of the general themes that can be seen and utilized universally. As a counselor, it is
important to develop and have sense of which theoretical orientation works best for you and the type
of clientele that you will be servicing. While it may be a challenge to pick one theoretical orientation
and stick to it due to the vast variety, it is important that you incorporate your background, values,
religious beliefs, as well as a host of other factors into your decision to ensure that that orientation can
be utilized properly.
So what is theoretical orientation? First and foremost, in my opinion, your TO is one of the most
important decisions you will make as a counselor. TO provides the framework and guiding principles
with regard to how a therapist will organize treatment, and provide the client with the necessary
information to have a positive and successful relationship and outcomes in counseling. TO assimilates
different points of views into a cohesive approach. TO consist of concepts, ideas, and insight into a
clients behaviors and how to effectively deal with them based on past research and outcomes. They

The Fear Within the Boys in Lord of the Flies by William...
The thing is fear can t hurt you any more than a dream ( William Golding quotes. ). Fear lives to haunt
and torment the person to a point of destruction and can be within everyone. Although a person is able
to overcome fear, it is still very dangerous because it affects the person as well as everyone and
everything around. In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the boys are all so overwhelmed
by fear that the island starts to recede into a state damaged beyond repair. In this case, Jack s fear of
not being leader originally starts to affect him, but it gradually starts to affect Ralph, and the rest of the
boys. Ralph s fear of survival brings out his inner savageness and an innocent life is taken away.

Jack does everything he can to keep power, the boys lose all sense of civilization and destroy the

Despite the fact that Jack s fear of not being chief ends badly, Ralph s fear of not surviving has another

Selfishness in The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant Essay
Selfishness in The Necklace by Maupassant
In Guy de Maupassant s, The Necklace all the characters in the story exhibit similar behavior by
showing that they think of themselves rather than of others. A close look at the behavior of the
characters in The Necklace reveals more than a story about a spoiled selfish woman, but what we see
is a story about a whole society of selfish people.
In The Necklace a woman named Mathilde lives a depressed life because she does not live the life
style that she desires. She was one of those pretty and charming women, born, as if by an error of
destiny into a family of clerks and copyists. She had no dowry, no prospects, no way of getting
known, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They leave in a rush because Mathilde doesn t want the other ladies to her in a modest, everyday wrap
while they were wearing expensive furs. When they arrive home they realize the necklace is gone, so
they retrace their steps trying to find it. When they have no luck, they buy the necklace for thirty six
thousand francs borrowing every cent from people. They spend ten years repaying everything back
including interest. When it is over, Mathilde confesses to her friend and receives the shocking news
that the necklace was costume jewelry and only worth a mere 500 francs at most.
In The Necklace, Mathilde is very selfish throughout the story. Mathilde shows her selfishness when
she longs to be rich and live in a nice home, wear expensive clothing and wear flashy jewelry with her
clothes. These…show how materialistic Mathilde is and how selfish she is for caring only about
gaining these things for herself, says one critic (Directessays). Mr. Loisel provides the basic
necessities for her to live a good life, but she wants more than just the basic necessities. She wants
wealth and good social status that she does not and can not have. She feels depressed every time she
thinks about wealth or visits her rich friend [Mrs. Forrestier], a comrade from convent days, whom she
did not want to see anymore because she suffered so much

How Did Jazz Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
Jazz and Civil Rights : Hand In Hand
Jazz contributed to the civil rights movement by allowing people to listen to African American
opinions through musical beats and lyrics. Giving the world a new wide spectrum from what they
were listening to before.
The current definition of jazz is American music developed from ragtime and blues. In some ways
blues and jazz go hand in hand. These types of music emerged in the Deep American South around the
end of the 19th century, spread north and formed various sub genres. Jazz and blues are connected by
their influence from African beats and culture to traditional African American work songs. These
rhythmic a cappella work songs originated with agricultural slaves, from synchronizing physical

The History of Jazz
The Jazz Age was a post World War I movement in the 1920 s, from which jazz music and dance
emerged. Although the era ended with the beginning of The Great Depression in 1929, Jazz has lived
on in American pop culture. Later on in time jazz was brought back by mostly African Americans. In
New Orleans during the late 19th century, brass marching bands gave lengthy performances during
funerals and parades this is one way jazz was used to express others emotions . Musicians had grown
bored and begin to improvise, using the syncopated rhythms of African American vocal music into
traditional military tunes. The way Jazz got around was by musicians being able to move state by state
to perform. The music eventually spread north, taking root and evolving in cities such as Chicago and
New York City. With a wide range of audience jazz came to be one of the most popular musical genres
in America. The term jazz or jass derives from a Creole word that means both African dance and
copulation. Also The term jazz referring to peppy dance music first appeared in a March 1913 edition

Human Factors Of Walmart
Walmart: The Human Factor
The employees welfare in Walmart is poor. According to the two employees interviewed, Walmart has
been forcing its employees to work through meals without extra pay. Employees are also forced to
work long hours without extra pay. This has contributed to regular employees strikes due to their
unpaid overtime dues and low wages (Mitchell, 2015). Another human behavior facing Walmart is
lack of appropriate measures to ensure employees safety. The employees interviewed indicated they
are locked in stores during evening hours, and any attempt to use emergency exits is punishable. This
is a sign of poor management of employees and may lead to low motivation as they feel less valued by
their employer. The leaders in the firm indicate that the lock in policy is meant to prevent employees
from stealing goods from the firm. This shows that the relationship between the administrators and the
employees is poor. This may explain why customers complain of poor customer service in the stores.
The other human behavior problem in Walmart is poor employees training. The employees indicated
that they are not exposed to the necessary training before they are employed in Walmart. This leads to
difficulty in carrying out their duties leading to poor customer service. There is also a problem in the
way the organization rewards its employees. It is only managers and the senior officials in the
organization who enjoy performance incentives. Junior employees are not given

A New Idea For The American Tax Code Essay
This idea of reducing taxes to increase investment within the economy sounds like a good idea but
hasn t lived up to its expectations historically. The idea of supply side economics wasn t a new idea for
the American tax code. During the early 1920s, income tax rates were cut multiple times which
averaged to a total of most rates being cut by a little less than half. The Mellon Tax Cuts named after
Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon under Presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge. He
believed that changes in income tax rates causes individuals to change their behavior and practices. As
taxes rise, tax payers attempt to reduce taxable income by either working less, retiring earlier,
reducing business expansions, restructure companies or spending more money on accountants to find
tax loopholes. If executed properly tax cuts can actually benefit economic growth, data from the
Internal Revenue Service(IRS) showed that the across the board tax cuts in the early 1920s resulted in
greater tax payments and larger tax share paid by those in the higher incomes. As the marginal tax rate
on the highest income earners were cut from 60 percent or more to just 25 percent, the amount that
this tax group payed soared from around 300 million to 700 million per year. (See Figure 2) This
sudden massive increase in revenue allowed the U.S. economy to rapidly expand during the mid and
late 20s. Between 1920 to 1929, real gross national product grew at an annual average rate of 4.7
percent and

The article written by ESPN reporter Jemele Hill explores the tumultuous story of Chris Webber and
the University of Michigan. Chris Webber was a basketball star in the early nineties at the University
of Michigan and was a major contributor to the university reaching the NCAA championship game
two years in a roll. After his career at Michigan, allegations were raised and then founded that Webber
received thousands of dollars from than booster Ed Martin while attending Michigan. The receiving of
these benefits is a violation of NCAA rules per NCAA by law 12.3.1.2 and 12.1.2.1.6. The NCAA

Jimmy King believed that Webber s actions hurt many people that had nothing to do with Ed Martin.
We have seen now over the years these types of situations arise before this incident Luther Campbell

Mike Ornstein and the University of Southern California. There are others as well, and there will
likely be more in the future. Boosters due to the many they give to the school are given access to the
institution and players sometimes in good faith. Some boosters take advantage of this to what they feel
as helping the recruiting process by offer money and gifts. The institutions must have control over the
supporters access to student athletes to avoid violation of NCAA rules. However, the question is
whether we can solve these issues through financial reimbursement for student athletes. The issue is
due to all student athletes get paid or just sports that generate massive amounts of revenue like football
and college basketball. Is it morally correct for a football player to receive money from a golf player?
They are both student athletes and may be facing the same financial hardships. I do not believe that
that is correct nor fair. I think if you pay one student athletes they all should receive money. But, also
the question arises whether having received a free education is not enough and does the payment of
players break the amateur status of student athletes. A tough topic and there is a solution here
somewhere. However, in the regard on whether Chris Webber owes the university an apology, I would
say yes at least an apology to all those his actions

Guidelines And Suggestions For A Recommendation
Introduction
Having a well known and standard process to create a policy or procedure is crucial in an
organization. The lack of one could lead to confusion and hindrance in the implementation of a
potentially necessary process. In many organizations, however, there is room for improvement.
Recommendations and suggestions should be encouraged, as they can aid in the success of these
plans. It is not enough, though, to simply suggest improvements. Action must be taken on the
suggestions, or they will likely remain unchanged. Succeeding this, once a recommendation has been
implemented, and organization must implement some way of measuring the status of it. This paper
focuses on the metrics Organization A uses to measure the success of a recommendation. All opinions
expressed in this paper are that of the author unless otherwise specified. The policy development
process in Organization A is contingent upon what department a policy affects. For example, if the
Accounting department needs to develop a process that handles, for example, sending a report to a
supervisor, then the procedure simply must be worked out within the department. In this example, the
policy may not be written down; it may just be understood and common practice. However, if the
Accounting department found the need to implement a policy that specified how all employees must
handle expense reports, then this must be decided by the core business unit (BU) leaders.

Living and Coping with Cystic Fibrosis in the South Asian...
A widely accepted Caucasian disease has since changed; as cases of its existence are appearing in the
South Asian Population (Orenstein, Rosenstein and Stern, 2000). First discovered in 1989, Cystic
Fibrosis (CF) is a genetically predetermined condition, its presences is lifelong and highly complex,
which is why many CF sufferers and families develop various mechanisms in order to adapt to the
condition (Tippingemail, Scholes, Cox, 2010). Cystic Fibrosis causes the body to develop thick, sticky
mucus which clogs the lungs and affects other organs in the body, mainly the pancreas. The layer of
mucus if untreated develops in to a chronic infection which can be detrimental. The pancreas of a CF
patient is most vulnerable, once the mucus has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussions of such issues suggest that other external factors may be influencing the decisions and
maintenance of many CF patients. For instance CF patients need to prioritise the way in which they
self manage their treatment, this can be difficult when trying to balance family, work, education and
other responsibilities and their levels of adherence may fluctuate (Sawicki, Sellers, Robinson, 2009).
These fluctuations can be detrimental to their condition and may result in hospitalisation, causing
additional disruptions in their daily life. However, engaging in so called normal activities might
therefore also reinforce a sense of being healthy and having a nondifferent identity. Conquering a
healthy balance is one which CF patients may need to adopt. One of the significant points from
McCormick et al, (2005) research underlined the substantial clinical differences for females in
comparison to males. The authors found that females had worst disease severity than males. Why
might this difference be occurring? In 2009 Besier, Schmitz and Goldbeck, investigated the effects of
relationship status on life satisfaction, as numerous findings suggest that despite the relationship
status, many females CF patients still reported worse quality of life scores than males (Walters,
Britton, Hodson, 1993). Besier et al, (2009) administrated the Life satisfaction questionnaire on a
sample of 243 CF (129

Why We Should Legalize Marijuana
Marijuana, in a lot of people s minds, is a horrible drug that has very harmful effects, but little do the
people know that it is actually one of the most helpful drugs in the world. Marijuana is shown to help
with many illness including P.T.S.D., epilepsy, and even chronic depression. Many states have already
learned of these health benefits, and have legalized marijuana medically. For some states it s even
allowed recreationally for everyday usage. Overall, the government is wasting their time busting drug
dealers and spending lives and money when they should just legalize it. First of all, marijuana is very
helpful when it comes to medical use. Marijuana a.k.a. weed is a drug that is grown and can be used in

Examples Of Racism In A Gathering Of Old Men
Racism Racism is a huge problem, especially here in the United States. The United States has come a
long was, but there is no doubt that there is much more progress to be made. People seem to follow
the patterns of others and fall in to the same issues. It is important that the cycle breaks and individual
learn to be independent and speak their own minds instead of following the thoughts and beliefs of
others. Until the chains are broken and people fall out of this endless loop, racism will continue to be a
major issue. Throughout many of the reading this semester, we have encounter serious racism. In
some cases the individual being a target of racism in turn exhibits acts of racism themselves. The
anger that these character feels can cause them to label all individuals in a group as racist, which isn t
fair at all. Some of the characters lose themselves due to racism. They try to fit to the ways of another
culture that is more excepted than theirs. In A Gathering of Old Men, the characters are set a little
further back in time when areas were still segregated. The characters do not get along with the
majority of the white population, which is completely understandable. The white community has
moved in and taken over so much of their land. They have caused these characters so much pain and
suffering. The white community even takes over the farming in their area. These characters can t do all
the things that they used to do on their land, because it is no

Kurt Vonnegut Reflection Paper
I have 3 main topics that I am going to do my best to stick too, but to emphasize my point on how
confusing this book can be in terms of its organized disorganization, I will stray away from my plan.
The three main topics that I plan to talk about you say? Oh yes! Those...I am going to discuss the
themes of warfare and fate free will as well as my favourite, the Tralfamadorians! Before I being to
discuss those, I do want to mention a few little side notes.
My first side topic is about the all wonderful Paul Lazzaro. To me he is a psychotic serial killer.
Actually, in all fairness he probably cannot be classified as one because he consistently decides to take
revenge into his own hands, but seriously! Who comes up with these characters? Oh! That s right...it s
the all confusingly crazy Kurt Vonnegut. Okay, now that I have gotten that out of my system, lets talk
about the writing style. Vonnegut still decides to give numerous pieces of essentially useless
information, but nonetheless he has decided to somewhat lay off on the whole time jumping thing.
Actually no. There is a correction to be made to that statement. He does still jump between moments
in the timeline of Billy s life, but the lengths of the events are longer. This helps a lot because now it
isn t as crazy fast paced as chapters 1 4, but it is still engaging.
Now onto the important things, warfare in this novel is confusing to say the least. It isn t that the
content or the actual war part is confusing because that

Effects Of Parent Child Dynamics On Emotional Development
Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants
Jovana Capric
Florida Atlantic University
Abstract
Misinformation and lack of education often lead parents into uncertainty about how to raise their child
to be the best person they can be. When raising children, the connection and relationship that is shared
between parents and child are significant. Multiple studies and research proves that different
engagements and experiences such as affection, discipline techniques and parenting styles all can have
positive or negative effects on a child and therefore, have critical consequences in development. Some
consequences include high or low acceptance ratings from the infants as well as impacts on social and
emotional development.
Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants
Parent child relations have been a topic of much review within psychology research due to the effects
on development and the implications it has on the child and family dynamics. Today, family and
parenting are in a great state of uncertainty and flux due to the constant re defining of what parenting
really is and how it is most effective (Lunkenheimer Leerkes, 2015). Often it becomes difficult to keep
up with the many forms of parenting and discipline styles while effectively maintaining a positive
parent child relationship. With the abundance of research and studies that have been conducted on this
topic we now have a better

  • 2. Earth Bound Telescopes Clearly the better and stronger our telescopes and other methods used to evaluate the sky will result in further discoveries. Not only do we have Earth bound telescopes; we have telescopes in the sky that can get even closer to other matter whether that be planets, stars, comets, asteroids, etc. The textbook also notes radial velocity and how the gravitational pull of a planet results in the star wobbling. If the wobble happens to occur along our line of sight to the star, then we see small fluctuations in the star s radial velocity, which can be measured using the Doppler effect (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371) allowing us to estimate the mass of the planet (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371). I found this website: http://www.planetary.org/explore/space topics/exoplanets/how to search for exoplanets.html that gives three ways. They are noted as radial velocity (already stated); transit photometry (having to do with the brightness or lack thereof of a star when another planet passes between it and the Earth (How to Search for Exoplanets)), and Microlensing (stated as the only real method that is capable of discovering other planets at huge distances from Earth (How to Search for Exoplanets)). It further notes that while radial velocity can identify them within 100 light years, transit photometry can identify them more than 100 light years (100 s in fact), and transit photometry can find those that are thousands of light years away. I need to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basically, to be an Earth like planet and sustain life a planet would need the same properties similar in mass, density, rotational method, gravity, and atmosphere as the Earth. I suppose another planet could have some of Earth s same properties but if it weren t close enough to a source of heat like the Sun is to Earth, life couldn t exist ... • 3. Procrastinator And Slacker Analysis All people spend at least a little time in the four of quadrants: procrastinator, prioritizer, yes man, and slacker. The quadrants represent your habits on importance and urgency in relation to your priorities. Although I spend most of my time as a prioritizer, I can remove the yes man from my life by being a better prioritizer and learning how to say no to people. The first and fourth quadrants, procrastinator and slacker, are the two worst quadrants to be in. Both leave you with low quality performance, stress, guilt, and a lot of wasted time. Procrastinators and slackers do not plan anything out, nor do they worry about the quality of their work, only that it eventually gets done, sometime in the future. At this point in my life, I relate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Cave Allegory In Plato s The Republic The Cave Allegory Plato a famous Greek philosopher in his book The Republic has his teacher Socrates recount the allegory of the cave. A group of people have lived chained up in a deep cave since birth, never ever seeing daylight and seeing only ahead. Behind them is a partial wall and a fire between the prisoners and the partial wall. There are various statues manipulated by a hidden group (representing all the forces that program and influence us) behind the partial wall that the prisoners cannot see. The prisoners see the shadows cast by the statutes move and think they are real. Most people mistake the products of their deletion, generalization, distortions and projections as real and reflecting reality. They mistake their internal map of the world for the real world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have never realized their mental models were controlling them. One of the prisoners is freed from his bonds and forced to confront the reality of the fire and statutes themselves. This is what happens when one day you wake up and something shocking happens (you lose your job or someone close to you dies) and you are shaken out of your trance state or default mode and forced to see the world as it is. So the prisoner faces pain and confusion initially because his eyes are not used to the light. He then realizes that he is seeing the reality for the first time as opposed to the shadows formed by the fire and the statues, he previously saw. He now accepts the fire and statues as most real. This stage in the cave represents belief. He is still unaware that there that there are things of greater reality a world beyond his cave. Like the prisoner, the first step to freedom is when you begin to wake up from your dream state and your default modes. Next, this prisoner is dragged out of the cave into world of sunlight where his eyes are blinded. Initially he can only look at shadows, then at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association has a Vision to... The National Cattlemen s Beef Association is a trade association and policy group that represents all segments of the cattle industry: producers, feeders, and breeders. The association has over 28,000 individual members and represents over 230,000 people in the industry. The current president of NCBA, Scott George, is a cow/calf producer from Wyoming with a long history in the dairy industry and policy groups as a member of the Farm Bureau. In addition to its role in U.S. policy, the NCBA conducts research, marketing, and promotional work for cattle ranchers. The NCBA s vision is an industry united around a common goal of being the world s most trusted and preferred source of beef and beef products. The economic interests of the cattle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the early 70s, the cattle market suffered a severe crash. To combat this and increase beef demand, the ANCA helped create a beef checkoff program which began in 1986 and worked to educate the population and promote high quality beef. In 1977, the National Livestock Feeder s Association combined with the ANCA to create the National Cattlemen s Association, developing a wider membership in the cattle industry. Over the next 20 years the group was able to fully focus on its policy actions by concerning itself with several issues regarding future markets, food safety, and the environment. Finally, in 1996, the NCA merged with the Beef Industry Council of the Meat Board, allowing for full coverage of all aspects of the cattle industry and creating the National Cattlemen s Beef Association as it is known today (Patrick). The NCBA continues to fight against the same challenges it has faced in its more than a hundred year history as well as the new challenges of today. As recently as this week, the NCBA has had trouble influencing policy in its favor. The country of origin labeling requirements in the 2014 Farm Bill were not changed to the NCBA s liking (Farm Press). • 6. Seung-Hui Cho And The Aftermath Of The Virginia Tech Massacre A case study is a method of analysis and a specific research design for examining a problem (University of Southern California, 2010). It can be used to analyze a person, place, event, or other subjects in order to help discover mitigating issues, misconceptions, failures, trends, or recommendations (USC, 2010). Case studies will be used to gain a better understanding of situations and topics to help others make better policies, procedures, and decisions (USC, 2010). Seung Hui Cho was born in South Korea and emigrated with his family to the United States as a child (Shapiro Wexler, 2007). • 7. Gender Stereotypes About Mothers In The Work Force assumptions about mothers in the work force which in most cases results in a pay gap for that woman. Correll identifies a variety of factors that could help explain the motherhood wage gap. The factors include but aren t limited to, reduced investment in human capital by mothers, lower work effort by mothers compared with nonmothers, unobserved heterogeneity between mothers and nonmothers, and discrimination against mothers by employers (Correll 1299). All these things contribute to the gender wage gap. • 8. Modernity and Enlightenment in The Persian Letters by... Modernity and Enlightenment in The Persian Letters by Charles Montesquieu The Persian Letters (1721), a fictional piece by Charles Montesquieu, is representative of the Enlightenment, both supporting and showing conflict with its ideas. The initial perception of European people, in particular the French, is of a busy people with goals and ambition whose focus is progress; in this way they are able to gain knowledge a core foundation to Enlightenment. One particular section of the Persian Letters states that the revolt against the authorities was lead by women, who through reason, saw the inequity of their treatment and formed a voice. This idea was focused around the advancement of scientific knowledge, the development of respect for humanity and above all, reason. People of this time believed that knowledge had to be earned and that through experience and observation, guided by reason, progress was inevitable. The idea of Enlightenment filtered its way into society and was became institutionalized. During this period, European traditions also came under the microscope and were challenged by many scholars and philosophers. Economical, social and political attitudes were studied and began to move away from negativity. People then focused on the positives of life and human nature. The monarch and general hierarchy of society was questioned and related back to natural intentions for mankind. Frenchmen felt enslaved by their current authorities and tried to overthrow them through the improvement of literacy, anonymous tracts and social exploration. As the focus of Enlightenment was on the natural law and order of the world, religious beliefs and especially Christian theology were a central topic. People of this age were trying to simplify common day human laws back to nature as it provided the basic metaphor for how mankind should live. • 9. The Controversy Of Yellowstone Supervolcano In this paper i will be talking about some of the controversy swirling around about the Yellowstone Supervolcano. I will be talking about, the activity of the volcano and magma chamber, when it s predicted to erupt next, the kill radius and ash cloud devastation, and if there is anything we can do to stop, or even mitigate the effects of a massive super eruption. In most of the research I have done and completed, this supervolcano has a lot of controversy behind it. One of the things I have found is, people around the world , no matter how much evidence proves them wrong, believe this supervolcano is no longer active. I would like to put that thought to rest mostly because of how idiotic it makes people sound. If the Yellowstone magma chamber was not active, which is what makes it a supervolcano, explain to me why there are so many hydrological features in Yellowstone. Explain to me why and how geysers work. The magma chamber has been moving since it first developed. It started out in the south eastern corner of Oregon and has been moving north east for the last 16.1 million years to where it is today in Wyoming. This magma chamber is the reason Yellowstone National Park is one of the world s most interesting places to visit. It is about one and a half miles under the crust and heats up big aquifers underground. If you have ever watched water boil, what happens when the water heats up? It starts to rise. So imagine that you have a funnel big enough to cover and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Meaning Of Respect In Confucius As time goes by, respect is being lost and forgotten. Even the definition of respect seems to be a bit muddied. Many people are forgetting the one golden rule that still applies. The golden rule being treat others the way you would want to be treated. People nowadays tend to turn respect towards things that are worthy of praise and they are forgetting to keep the same respect to everything else. • 11. Dulce Et Decorum Est Diction Death in Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen is portrayed through the use of vivid imagery. The poet makes the reader seem as if he is present at the event due to the use of figurative language used to portray death. He creates a horrendous image by the use of diction. The use of alliteration, watch the white eyes writhing in his face, (line 19) creates an image of the face of a young man disfiguring. The diction in line 20, like a devil sick of sin, accentuates that humans are much crueller than the devil himself. Owen uses these literary devices to show us the horror the poet witnessed. The blood, come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs (line21 22) is onomatopoeia which creates audio imagery. It creates an image of war being a slaughter house for young men and that their death doesn t conjure much sorrow. In the sestet Owen writes in their eyes shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes (line10 11). Here Owen creates an emotional image by the use of calm words to create a mourning mood. It shows that the families of the fallen soldiers crying for their loved ones have died. Owen then symbolises death as a drawing down of blinds at dusk (line 16). For this discussion we will focus on the ethical implications of CEO pay ratio but in order to do this we must first define compensation. Often CEO compensation is comprised of cash salary, bonuses, stocks, options, etc. It is not unusual for companies to have requirements about the percentage of the CEO total compensation that must be held in stocks in an attempt to incentivize good performance. If all employees earned satisfactory wages, the pay ratio would decrease. According to Henderson and Fredrickson (2001), it is necessary to distinguish between economic views and behavioral views that embody various pay gap theories. Economic perspectives emphasize competition while behavioral perspectives emphasize cooperation (p. 97). Relative deprivation theory states that when lower level employees feel like they are receiving less than they deserve, it can lead to adverse behavior (p. 97). Tournament theory proposes that CEO pay gap promotes competition and the gap between successive ranks increases with hierarchical level (p. 99). This theory relies on strong incentives to justify pay gap and encourage positive behavior from employees, however, this approach favors the individual so for organizations that require coordination and cooperation, this can elicit self serving behavior. When collaboration is vital to an organization, the allocation preference theory proposes that pay is distributed relatively equally to maintain social harmony and discourage destructive employee behavior (p. 98). Another key consideration is how dominant cultural values impact organizational structure. According to the two employees interviewed, Walmart has been forcing its employees to work through meals without extra pay. Employees are also forced to work long hours without extra pay. This has contributed to regular employees strikes due to their unpaid overtime dues and low wages (Mitchell, 2015). Another human behavior facing Walmart is lack of appropriate measures to ensure employees safety. The employees interviewed indicated they are locked in stores during evening hours, and any attempt to use emergency exits is punishable. This is a sign of poor management of employees and may lead to low motivation as they feel less valued by their employer. The leaders in the firm indicate that the lock in policy is meant to prevent employees from stealing goods from the firm. This shows that the relationship between the administrators and the employees is poor. This may explain why customers complain of poor customer service in the stores. The other human behavior problem in Walmart is poor employees training. The employees indicated that they are not exposed to the necessary training before they are employed in Walmart. The idea of supply side economics wasn t a new idea for the American tax code. During the early 1920s, income tax rates were cut multiple times which averaged to a total of most rates being cut by a little less than half. The Mellon Tax Cuts named after Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon under Presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge. He believed that changes in income tax rates causes individuals to change their behavior and practices. As taxes rise, tax payers attempt to reduce taxable income by either working less, retiring earlier, reducing business expansions, restructure companies or spending more money on accountants to find tax loopholes. If executed properly tax cuts can actually benefit economic growth, data from the Internal Revenue Service(IRS) showed that the across the board tax cuts in the early 1920s resulted in greater tax payments and larger tax share paid by those in the higher incomes. As the marginal tax rate on the highest income earners were cut from 60 percent or more to just 25 percent, the amount that this tax group payed soared from around 300 million to 700 million per year. (See Figure 2) This sudden massive increase in revenue allowed the U.S. economy to rapidly expand during the mid and late 20s. However, engaging in so called normal activities might therefore also reinforce a sense of being healthy and having a nondifferent identity. Conquering a healthy balance is one which CF patients may need to adopt. One of the significant points from McCormick et al, (2005) research underlined the substantial clinical differences for females in comparison to males. The authors found that females had worst disease severity than males. Why might this difference be occurring? In 2009 Besier, Schmitz and Goldbeck, investigated the effects of relationship status on life satisfaction, as numerous findings suggest that despite the relationship status, many females CF patients still reported worse quality of life scores than males (Walters, Britton, Hodson, 1993). Besier et al, (2009) administrated the Life satisfaction questionnaire on a sample of 243 CF (129 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Kurt Vonnegut Reflection Paper I have 3 main topics that I am going to do my best to stick too, but to emphasize my point on how confusing this book can be in terms of its organized disorganization, I will stray away from my plan. The three main topics that I plan to talk about you say? Oh yes! Those...I am going to discuss the themes of warfare and fate free will as well as my favourite, the Tralfamadorians! Before I being to discuss those, I do want to mention a few little side notes. My first side topic is about the all wonderful Paul Lazzaro. To me he is a psychotic serial killer. Actually, in all fairness he probably cannot be classified as one because he consistently decides to take revenge into his own hands, but seriously! Who comes up with these characters? Oh! That s right...it s the all confusingly crazy Kurt Vonnegut. Okay, now that I have gotten that out of my system, lets talk about the writing style. Vonnegut still decides to give numerous pieces of essentially useless information, but nonetheless he has decided to somewhat lay off on the whole time jumping thing. Actually no. There is a correction to be made to that statement. He does still jump between moments in the timeline of Billy s life, but the lengths of the events are longer. This helps a lot because now it isn t as crazy fast paced as chapters 1 4, but it is still engaging. Now onto the important things, warfare in this novel is confusing to say the least. It isn t that the content or the actual war part is confusing because that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
