The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the semi arid
region in the South of Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. Green fir trees made way for golden

Church of Sant Ignazio in Rome, and was painted from 1685 1694. It is approximately 56 feet by 115
feet across the ceiling, and uses a quadratura perspective to create an almost three dimensional effect.
While the effect makes the center look much higher, it is actually painted on an arched ceiling called a
barrel vault. This is a fresco painting, a type of coloring that made the painting integral to the
construction of the building or item. Inside the Church of Sant Ignazio, there is a single white tile
indicating where the viewer is intended to stand to truly appreciate Pozzo s work. The scene illustrates
many different saints and other highly viewed people, all ascending towards the sky. There is also
allegorical figures of the 4 continents (America, Europe, Africa, and Asia) attached to the side of the
buildings windows at the base of the painting. The scene is filled with cherubs that seem to be aiding
the continents and saints. At the center of the painting, Saint Ignatius is following Christ into heaven,

Women have always fought for the right of equality and control of their bodies. Many instances
occurred throughout history that supported a woman s fight for equal representation and fair
legislation, especially for those who were impoverished. This paper will discuss three articles from
1968 to 1977 that outline women s battles against the government and the legal system regarding
abortion and sterilization. The article details instances in which the government pursued unlawful
sterilization as a form of birth control, or denied public funding to poverty stricken women who ...
Not only was birth control taboo, but so was any form of unnatural contraception outside of the
rhythm method. Sterilization was disapproved, and refused to women as a means of birth control by
many hospitals at the time (New York Times, 1971). Women were discouraged from embracing the
idea to exercise control relating to when they would stop having children. This proved to be yet
another form of unfair judgment forced upon women by uninformed officials. The New York Civil
Liberties Union was notified to help Mrs. Caparelli fight this method of inappropriate control by

endangered their lives. Not only were facilities not up to code, but many performing the procedure
were not medically approved to do so. As a result, these lower income women had a difficult time
acquiring abortion services because many health care facilities refused to carry out the practice. In the

In the novel No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, there is a battle between two versions of
justice. In typical western narratives, the Sheriff is the strong hero who perseveres through battle with
the antagonist, and the good guys always win. However, this novel disrupts this usual ending with the
introduction of a unique antagonist, Chigurh. Chigurh breaks the mold of the typical old western
villain in how he manages to outsmart the law and escape. His escape is a disastrous blow to the
system of justice the Sheriff has spent his life trying to maintain. Through this, the author displays a
twisted, unhappy version of justice in Chigurh and how it compares to Sheriff Bell s typical, objective
notion of justice on the western frontier. This interpretation showcases that sometimes justice is not
between only good and bad, and good does not necessarily always win. With its alternative versions of
justice, the novel illustrates the changing morality of the western frontier, the weakness of moral
driven justice and how these opposing views create individual interpretations of justice compared to
an objective standard.
